Speaker 1 (00:03):
What would you talk about on your on your podcast, firm,
say Elvis sixteen morning show.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Here it comes the fifteen minute morning show podcast. Let's
get go. In Valentine's Day twenty twenty four. They're scary.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
There's Gandhi, there's Danielle, Scottie b and Nate and Garrett
is here and special guests.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Who's special guess? And Indiana Andrew Indiana, Oh, Dana, I
love your heart.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Andrew. Andrew's wearing his Valentine's black Yes, like my soul today.
Look at the beard that Andrew is sporting. He's very
wolverine looking.

Speaker 5 (00:45):
Thank you.

Speaker 6 (00:46):
I just haven't shaved him for you know, he's got
like certain places he doesn't grow hair.

Speaker 5 (00:50):
Yeah, that's my alopecia. Yeah, germatology tested.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
We are not making fun of alopecia. Multi to state
for the record. Anyway, Well, welcome to the day.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Let's get going.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
So, first of all, if you're wondering why Andrew and
Deanna are hero, first of all, well, second of all,
there are family members.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
We love them.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
But first of all, they went to see some shows
last night. Deanna, what did you see last night?

Speaker 4 (01:12):
I saw Hamilton and it was amazing.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Was that your first time?

Speaker 4 (01:16):
Yeah, I was sobbing. The second I walked in. I
started crying.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Oh yeah, it is that kind of show that's been
overly overly hyped, but it matches the hype in my
opinion anyway. For sure, once the show starts, you almost
start getting it immediately.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
You're like, it's unlike anything you've ever seen. Talk about it.

Speaker 7 (01:35):
It was like, obviously, I've watched the Disney Plus special
a bunch of times because I'm obsessed, so I knew
all the music already, but seeing it in person is
like a whole nother level, Like there was things that
you miss on the TV special or the movie whatever
that like we picked up on it in the audience.
It was just so amazing and there's nothing like live theater.
I mean, honestly like it. I don't even have words

(01:55):
as I was blown away and speechless. I was crying,
my boyfriend was crying. Everyone was like having the best time,
and I'm just like, I can't self thinking about it
was amazing.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
I got four hours of sleep and it was so
worth it.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Good.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
I'm glad you loved it, and you know, of course,
with a vengeance, Hamilton is on new cast everything. If
you're in New York, you gotta go see it. Even
if you're not in New York, come to New York
and see it.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Does that make sense? Yes?

Speaker 4 (02:19):
The guy who Hamton is key you, Yeah, he is.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
And then there's that there's a hotty factor yeh. Was
the rest of the audience in it as well? Did
you feel it?

Speaker 4 (02:28):
Oh? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (02:28):
Well, so last night was Kids Night on Broadway, which
was an amazing initiative that the Broadway League does to
bring kids to the theater. And there was a ton
of kids but they were so well behaved, like obviously
things ago a certain way, but they were so.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Into it and so engaged.

Speaker 7 (02:43):
I mean they were like a little older because it's
more like mature I would say, like middle school and up.
But everyone was so into it and like people were singing,
but it wasn't annoying, you know how sometimes it could
be annoying.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
Like it was like a good a good audience and
it was so much fun.

Speaker 7 (02:56):
And then afterward they did a sing along which was
so much fun, and my boyfriend was like, we have
to stay, so we stayed, and each of the audience
was different parts of the songs with the music director
on stage.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
It was so fun.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Yeah, oh wait, so the actors would actually come out
of character and just kind of hang out and have fun.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
Yeah, it was so fun.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
I love when they do that. You know, in the
old days of theater, they would never do that.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
You know.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Then, I remember when Broadway Cares Broadway Equity Fights aids
began doing past the pot for cash collection after the performances,
and you would get to see these actors out of
character right in front of you, and it was just
really a special thing.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
I love that they did that. Well, congratulations, what a
great New York City night, Andrew. What did you see
last night?

Speaker 5 (03:37):
I saw The Lion King?

Speaker 2 (03:39):
No, wait, have you seen it before?

Speaker 5 (03:41):
I have, But this time I took my goddaughter for
the first time. It was her first Broadway play ever.
She's four, and it was like I started crying because
I was watching her watch it, and like that opening
number happens and all the animals are walking up on stage.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
She literally put her hands on her face and just.

Speaker 5 (03:57):
Went wow, Ah, it was the most adorable thing I've
ever seen in my life.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
If you've never seen The Lion King, I think, and Danielle,
I think you and I saw it for the first
time when it first came out. Yeah, and even not together,
but around the same time. It was the first time.
The enormity of how they were, the enormity of the
production was surrounding you with all these animals and these puppets,
and I kept thinking.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
And maybe you'll agree with Danielle and Andrew.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
The imagination it takes to put that production together. Yeah, absolutely,
so beyond anything we can understand.

Speaker 6 (04:33):
I've been watching, like the puppeteers with certain things. After
a while, you don't realize that there's something controlling like
these things, and you think it's the real animal. You
think it really is, you know, a Timon right, Timon,
and you're like, oh, poomba or whatever.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
It's crazy.

Speaker 5 (04:49):
But it was.

Speaker 6 (04:50):
It's so beautifully done.

Speaker 5 (04:51):
It was amazing, and the crowd was great. It was
a bunch of like kids, so they were able to
kind of be a little louder than I think normal,
and it was kind of just expected thatkids are going
to be kids, and it was a lot of kids
first time there, so you didn't feel like if your
kid was laughing along or scared of you know that
one scene in the Lion King when Scar Pushes came over.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
But oh my god, oh my god.

Speaker 5 (05:17):
It was a great environment. And yeah, the kid's night
out thing is is amazing. I will definitely be planning
on taking.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Zone don't don't Actually, so what did you do after
the show?

Speaker 5 (05:32):
Well, I mean she's Ford, so she had to go home.
I love that.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
You know what a New York City night. I know,
Gandhi had an incredible New York City night. You went
to see Hamilton as well. Yeah, but there are nights
this pain in the ass City is actually the best
place on earth, right.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
It was such a fun weekend.

Speaker 8 (05:52):
Yeah, I saw well, I went to an art show,
like a fancy art show, which was fun, and then
I saw Hamilton. Then I went to that secret cannabis club.
We went to see Celebrate Chinatown or celebrate the Lunar
New Year in Chinatown, and it was just.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
Like a super super fun weekend.

Speaker 8 (06:08):
There's so much going on here, especially when it's nice.

Speaker 6 (06:12):
Yes, oh yeah, the weather was perfect.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Yeah that helps tell you what you know. Chinatown. That's
a very interesting thing to talk about.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
A lot of people who visit New York City, they
go to this tude Times Square to Central Park and
all the typical places, and that's fine. Uh it's those
neighborhoods like the Lower east Side, Chinatown. Uh, go to
those it go up to Harlem, go to I mean,
there's so much stuff going on that typical tourists just

(06:39):
don't experience. But there's so much more out there other
than the places where all the tourists are hanging right.

Speaker 8 (06:46):
Oh yeah, oh my god, right now, Lunar New Year.
I'm telling you, guys, go to Chinatown. You're gonna have
a great time. Get a confetti popper.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
Who game over.

Speaker 9 (06:53):
I gotta thank TikTok for this, because they pretty much
all these videos I've been collecting them have been saving
the where all these food bloggers and drink bloggers where
they take you into these places that are other than
Times Square and then like, oh my god, I got it.
Next time I'm in that part of the city, I'm
gonna go here. I'm gonna try and check.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Out this place.

Speaker 6 (07:12):
It's hidden gems.

Speaker 9 (07:13):
They really are so much out there, really.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
And I think more people are starting to expand their horizons.
Hope they should, thanks to social media. When my friends
come to town or neighbor or relatives they're like, oh,
we gotta go to Times Square. I'm like, okay, I
get it. I get it. It's not it's like okay.

Speaker 5 (07:33):
Well.

Speaker 10 (07:33):
The best advice, ELVI is that you ever gave me
that I've I've used and applied, is go get lost,
especially down downtown Manhattan, and go find those restaurants that
you would never you know, like, don't google, like, don't
even look at like what's the best restaurant in little Italy?

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Just go find it and get lost.

Speaker 4 (07:51):
Do it.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
That is great advice. And Chinatown is the best example
of that because none of the streets are really parallel
or perpendicular. There isn't they cross each other, and there's
so much history down there.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
But the got the food everything. I can't wait.

Speaker 6 (08:06):
I'm going to see Hamilton tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Oh good, what are you gonna do?

Speaker 6 (08:09):
Is there anything that I should look for specifically that
you guys noticed that maybe I wouldn't notice normally.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
Well, if you have you seen the Disney Plus thing?

Speaker 4 (08:17):
No, oh my god, there is you've listened to the soundtrack, Yes, okay,
there's only what I think one line of dialogue. Yeah,
it's almost all. And there's that one line of dialogue
in particular, where it explains something. Okay, okay, because when
you listen to the soundtrack, you think, oh god, this

(08:39):
is happening.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
You kind of have your mind's eye of what's going on.
But there's that one line of dialogue that explains what happened.

Speaker 8 (08:44):
Right, I think you should pay attention to the orchestra pit, Yes,
because it was fascinating that it works. I'm the hot guy,
that's what is Alexander.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Yes, I don't have to tell you that, you'll you'll
just naturally.

Speaker 4 (08:59):
Yeah. You know.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
So New York City, you know, we do paint a
picture of it being just a big pain in the ass,
and it is. But when you live here, you're allowed
to say that.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
I know. I'll be there with my friend Dennis tonight.
We're gonna walk around. We're gonna have a good New
York City night. I'm looking forward to it.

Speaker 8 (09:18):
We are going to be asking for a friend.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
Where are we going to be?

Speaker 3 (09:22):
Well, since we're not, you know, valentining, but we're out
on Valentine's night, we have to find a place that's
like where you would never take your Valentine?

Speaker 2 (09:29):
Would that be? I mean, yes, it'll be a.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
Hole in the wall.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
Whatever, Yeah, it will be okay, don't worry about us.
So what else is going on for today?

Speaker 4 (09:40):
Anything?

Speaker 2 (09:40):
Anything?

Speaker 5 (09:41):
Good?

Speaker 8 (09:42):
Diamond and I are going to that Bob Marley movie
premiere tonight of one Love.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
That'll be fun, supposed to be amazing. Yeah, we're hearing
good things.

Speaker 4 (09:50):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
Yeah, all right, New York City love it all right. Well,
I think we've kind of covered some things. So questions
real quickly, Yes, go ahead. Well, I mean you just
said on the wall. I'm just wondering where that term
came from. It's not like a glory hole.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
Is it.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
Oh, I'm curious.

Speaker 4 (10:05):
It always go down this.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
I'm not being a jerk. I just like, okay, people
say a hole in the wall, like, where where they would.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
It come from? Cool?

Speaker 8 (10:13):
Hole in the wall?

Speaker 2 (10:14):
What's your Valentine? Why are you guys being Dick's I'm
just I'm asking.

Speaker 6 (10:17):
Okay, it says, wait, hold on, okay, it says a
hole in the terminology of the eighteen hundreds was usually
a park or valley. For example, Brown's Hole became known
as Brown's Park. These parks were usually surrounded by a

(10:38):
wall of mountains, Thus the hole in the wall was
a park surrounded by walls or mountains.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Wow, it really had. Doesn't apply to how we use
it today. Today, it's just like a non glamorous like
that casual place.

Speaker 8 (10:54):
More like a glory hole.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
It's an obscure place visiting Brown's Hole. Okay, well you
wait to have a great day. Happy Valentie. There bye.
