Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the day. It is Tuesday. This is the
(00:02):
Bonus Hour. On as we come to our last week
of the Z one Bonus Hour, we start out with
a fight between Scary and Danielle about our weather for today.
Come on, because I never agree, they never ever agree. Okay, Danielle,
we're gonna start with you today. We'll let you go first.
What is the weather today? I walked outside before and
it feels like it's going to be just a day.
(00:26):
So my weather report for today is, thank you, okay,
Scary with mainly cloudy with times of sun. It's gonna
be seventy five today, and then tomorrow it's gonna go
up to eighty five degrees, cloudy, sunny, and humid all
and a chance of a thunderstorm. And its sixty right now.
(00:49):
Nobody asked you about tomorrow. We we're talking about today.
I'm just saying you can't even agree on what we
asked for anyway, so much we need to be talking about.
We're gonna talked to Scary and uh Straighten, Nate and
Scotty b about how they got to work early this
morning into the darkness of New York City. Was a very,
(01:09):
very very frightening thing for them. Also, I want to
remind everyone that we still have the coronavirus knocking at
our doors. And uh we of course because of very
very important news and important perspectives that we needed to
cover these past few days, uh after George Floyd's murder,
we are we're also talking about, um, you know, a coronavirus,
(01:30):
staying safe. What are the what are the latest numbers?
What do you have? Gandhi? So right now we are
closing in on a hundred and seven thousand deaths so
far from the coronavirus. So the number is still climbing.
I mean, obviously there are a lot of other things
people are talking about, but be careful. I mean, when
you're going out, continue wearing your face masks and washing
your hands and doing all of the things that you're
(01:50):
supposed to be doing, because the number is still going up.
Have you noticed it's it's in these days it's sort
of easy to oops. I forgot to wash my hands.
I know Nate was saying he went to bathroom and
walked out without washing his hands. Wrong. Can't you need
to wash your hands? On a very serious note, I
received a text from U. I believe outside of Georgia,
(02:13):
between Georgia and northern Georgia. Right, Uh, southern Georgia down
toward Florida. Uh. From Annell saying, Elvis, can you please
tell your listeners to pray for my daddy. He has coronavirus,
has been in the hospital for three weeks and nothing
is working, and I want him home. His name is
Jose And now we hear you. God bless you and
your family, and we're sending our love to you. We're
(02:36):
sending our love to you. You know. Deborah is on
line listening to us in Wrong cong Come up, I love,
saying long cong on the shoals of wrong Lake, ron
Kong Coma. Hi Deborah, Hi, So your husband actually is
just now getting over at COVID nineteen correct, Yes, you know,
it was a scary few weeks there. How's he doing now?
(03:01):
He's fine? Now. It's actually crazy. You would never even
know that he had it, but while he had it,
it was terrifying and you never realized just how scary
it is until it's in your own home. But yeah,
so difficult, good things you're looking up. We love that,
you know, and and that's that's we were talking about this. Uh.
(03:23):
You know, we were seeing such positive results coming out
of us, flattening the curve and even though the numbers
are still scary, Uh, light at the end of the
tunnel was brighter than ever. And then the news comes
out of Minneapolis. George Floyd's headlines came out, and then
how the rest of us are are talking about it
and learning about perspective in this and that and um,
(03:46):
you know, then the news left coronavirus. We gotta we
gotta juggle all these stories because it's all a part
of our lives. So how have you been, Debora in
a beautiful wrong com como? Uh, it's it's in a struggle.
It feels like there's just one thing after another. And
(04:07):
before coronavirus came into my home, I was dealing with
teaching from home and remote learning, which is hard in itself.
Then coronavirus came into my home and that changed things
even more. And then we started to feel like we're
getting back on our feet. And then the murder of
George Floyd happened. And I am a white person, I
(04:32):
do understand, and I am learning more and more about
my privilege and how what I am doing can affect
other people positively, and I'm trying to become educated on it.
But I also just really wanted to thank you and
everyone at your show for what you've been doing, because
the past a few months have been very, very difficult.
(04:54):
And I've been listening to you since I was in
elementary school when I was telling it be for that.
I've been listening to you for oh wow, um almost
thirty years now. And Elliot and um. Actually I used
(05:15):
to make my own radio show because of you. I
used to take my dad's tape recorder and take my
beanie babies and make them be Elvis and Elliott. But
then Elliott left the show, so I renamed my beanie
baby a J. McLean from the Bactory Voice. Well, that
makes all the sense in the world. I get it.
I understand the process. Yes, go ahead, Funny, You've provided
(05:40):
a sense of normalcy and just being able to listen
to you every day. You know, I used to listen
to when I was driving into work, and now I
don't drive into work, but I listened every morning on
my heart so that I can get my fixed. And
it's just you know, I know that you love doing
what you do, so it might not seem like a
(06:01):
big deal to you, but it's a huge deal. And
just thank you all of you for you know, putting
on your brave radio hats every day and making us
laugh and talking about real things, which I know can
be tricky because you're trying not to be a political show,
but it's so important right now to be talking about
(06:24):
what you've been discussing. So thank you for that. Wow. Uh,
we know this is what's sort of odd about this
phone call, is uh, this has been the dialogue, our
dialogue when the songs are playing, We've been talking about
this about what are we doing here? Are we doing
the right thing? Are we misstepping? Are we were? Are
(06:46):
we making mistakes and then correcting them? You know, you
know the dialogue we have. But everything you're just saying
right now is so needed. And I and on behalf
of Danielle and and Gandhi and Scary and Broad and
straighten Ate and Froggy and Scotty B and Diamond and
Garrett and producer Sam and Coaster, Void Josh and you know,
(07:11):
we've got a lot of people here. We thank you
so much, Thank you very much. And I hope, uh,
I hope everything in your home it gets brighter and
brighter every day, and that's what we're working to achieve here.
Thank you so much. Thank you, just really really quick.
Some one more thing. I'm so I'm sorry, don't struggling
on microphones. Um you. I met you in St. Thomas
(07:38):
last year at Sapphire Beach when you were there, um
for I think it was your bachelor party or Alex's
bachelor party vacation. Is it today? It rained? It rained
at the beach? Is that today? Never so drunk? Yeah?
(07:58):
And I was. I felt off well afterwards because I
realized that Uncle Johnny was there. But I was so
you know, I wasn't expecting to see you, and I
was so excited and I didn't say hi to him,
and I felt terrible because then I looked back in
my pictures and I saw that he was sitting there
at the bar, and I so I just wanted to say,
I love your uncle Johnny. I'm sorry that I didn't
(08:20):
sat by her beach. You know, he's been harboring negative
feelings about you ever since. Well maybe now he can
finally move on to the next Thank you, We've gotten
that closure. Thank I cannot thank you enough for not
only being a true, true member of our family. But
for saying such kind things, and I hope you have
(08:40):
a very safe day, and thanks for your positivity. And
keep on learning. Let's keep listening to what people have
to say, and let's let's correct our lives and move
in the right direction together. Okay, thank you so much.
All right, Debra, thank you. Wow. Hey, so you know,
I wish we could play back the phone call we had,
the first phone call that kicked off our show, the
(09:03):
first caller of the day. Yeah, he was awesome. Do
we have that Big Herman? Can we find Yeah? It's
Big Herm. Yeah, yeah, this is my favorite call of
my life. I'll play the whole thing back if we
can find it, dig it up, just put it that.
He's gonna make you hungry, he's gonna make young. I
(09:25):
want you to hear the spirit of Big Herm from
from Richmond. Well, we'll play that for you in just
a little bit. We're gonna pull it up. Let's talk
about some things that are opening up. Do we have
some good news, Danielle, what's opening up in Jersey? Yes?
All right, so wait hold on, let me pull it up.
Let me pull it up. Okay, So We're entering into
Stage two recovery in New Jersey in two weeks, so,
(09:47):
Governor Phil Murphy said, as of June fifteenth, we're going
to have the outdoor dining allowed New Jersey as well
as child care centers in person. Retail sales can also return.
At that point, each store has to make tanny strip
fifty percent capacity in order to stay open, so they're
going to figure that out. Hair salons, barbershops, they're going
to reopen the following Monday on June two. Jim's Health
(10:10):
clubs they'll likely reopen soon after, though. The governor said
health officials were continuing to work on safety protocol guidance
for those businesses. He has no specific dates for fitness
centers yet, but he is working on it. But it's
good news because we are moving into stage too, like
I said, and we're moving forward. Although June twenty two
for the hair salon, and my roots are like screaming,
(10:30):
and I was like what June, but I can wait.
It's okay, how you doing. I'm feeling a little doughey
because as you know, they won't let me in the gym.
H scary, scary. Let's talk about New York. What do
you have for New York and opening? And stuff City
is going to be opening for phase one this coming Monday.
(10:54):
That includes non essential retail with curbside or in store pickup,
which is great, and of course not essential construction, manufacturing,
wholesale trade and your favorite I was forestry and hunting
and fishing. Were excited because we're making progress there, all right,
So what's left in New York City will be open?
That's good, that's on the way, yes, Gandhi, what are
(11:17):
you thinking? Oh? Nothing, I'm just excited for all of
you guys to get back these little things. I know
people have been missing so much. There's just so much
that is still on the table. But I still say
when you go out, cover your mouths and wash your hands.
And everyone's getting really excited about it. But the numbers,
like we said, are not flattening. So I'm not sure
that I'll be heading out immediately yet. But for everybody
(11:39):
who chooses to do it, good for you. Yeah, yeah,
there are certain I'm still not gonna do definitely not,
definitely not. I'm not gonna I'm not gonna lick people's
faces like I used to. Alex and I went to Alex,
I went to the grocery Alex, I went to the
grocery story yesterday. I was wearing this new this black
mask of mine, and uh and thank you for that.
By the way, Al, You're welcome. But I kept feeling
(12:01):
like I could It's like I had a breeze across
my face, even though I was like, wow, this this
material is great. Well, you had an inside out and
upside down. Rather than protecting my nose, it was covering
like my chin. Did you see the picture of the
(12:22):
security guard. The security guard who had the black mask
in the front of his face and then when he
turned around, he was a thong. He had a little
black song in the back of his head. He obviously
didn't have a mask, so he just took any put
it on. Wonder what a mask around their chin? And
(12:42):
I kept your chin safe from the coronavirus. You're not
gonna get there if you're gonna wear If you're gonna
pick up a thong at the dirty clothes and put
on your head, it's gonna remind you of last night
or something. You know what, Alex, can you call Uncle
Johnny and see if he's away, because you can get
him on later. Sure, we're gonna try to call Uncle
Johnny for you, Nate, so Nate doesn't have to go
(13:03):
through the nightmare of calling over. Just try. He is
he hears he Where is he? He's Fire Island, He's
out there. I know he's drinking because we get text
from him every day and I don't understand a word
he's saying. He's saying happy birthday to me. It's not
even my birthday. He has Fire Island open for him, Johnny.
(13:31):
Johnny's world is wide open. Let's get into the three
things we need to get to with Gandhi. Uh, I
think and coming up in a few minutes. I don't
know where you're listening to. I do want you to
hear the perspective of Nate and Scary in Scotty b
as they came into work before sun up this morning
in downtown Manhattan. We'll get to that in a few minutes,
and some fun songs or whatever textas if you want
(13:52):
to hear something special. Uh right, Gandhi, three things? What
do you got? Well? Another curfew is going to be
in effect tonight for New York City, but this time
it will be three hours earlier after the city faced
another night of protests in Mayhem. Seems looters have been
going from store to store and setting fires overnight, especially
in the Midtown area. Macy's at Harold Square was hit
(14:13):
so tonight. The curfew goes into effect from eight pm
until five am tomorrow. The NYPD's highest ranking uniformed member,
Chief of Department, Terence Monahan, kneeled in solidarity with George
Floyd protesters at a demonstration in Manhattan last night. He
also addressed the crowd, pleading for an end to the
violent outbursts that are plaguing peaceful protests. And finally, Grinder
(14:35):
is making some changes in light of what is going
on across the country as well. The dating app is
removing ethnicity filters. So you used to be able to
go on to Grinder. Sorry your Grinder go ahead now.
They said it was originally so that minority groups could
find matches with other minority groups, but now they're saying
it doesn't that. The company doesn't want to be silent anymore.
(14:57):
They don't want these filters there and they will not
be inactive. So Grinder says, not only are they removing
all of this kind of stuff, but they will plan
to continue fighting racism by donating to the Marsha P.
Johnson Institute and Black Lives Matter as well. So if
you're on grinder, grinder, michnael just a little bit different
going forward, and those are your three things, all right.
I can't wait to sign on a grinder today and
(15:17):
see all the differences. Did you Did you see they
were just sold for like six hundred and something million dollars? Grinder? Really,
where are they going to go? I know, all right,
we gotta we gotta take a break. We'll be back
with our Z one hundred Bonus one hundred. You're listening
(15:40):
to a bonus hour of Elvis Duran in the one
hundred Morning Show. Here's Elvis Z one hundred. The bonus hour,
according to Daniel today is this is gonna be gonna
kind of blow. The weather is gonna be is what
you said? Yeah? Uh so this morning I gotta say
I re even an email this morning from our own
(16:02):
Scotty B and uh it says afraid, good morning. I'm
not sure how much longer I can do this if
the if the unrest in the city continues, it's not
safe in the city. At four thirty am, I was
listening to the news on the way and trying to
prepare for it. Then I saw them smashing out a
window of an apparel store on Broadway and Walker. I
(16:23):
nearly crap my pants, blew through every red light to
get here. I don't know. I don't like this feeling,
and I'm scared. I don't know if I can do
this from home. I don't know what to do. And
that's when I called you, Scotty. Were Scotty. I told
you just to see how you're doing, and you were,
you were. You'd already made it into the studio by them,
but I was very concerned with you. And I'm thinking, God,
you know Walker and Broadway, that's a block from my house.
(16:46):
You know, it's it's it's hitting really close to home.
So it's just tell us about your driving from Long Island. Well,
you know, I mean, I was fine until I had
a pick which bridge to go over, you know, because
coming in I can either take them Manhattan, the Williamsburg
or the Brooklyn Bridge. And yesterday took the Brooklyn Bridge
and that was a bad idea because that comes out
right by City Hall. And there were cars that were
burned out and things in the road, so I decided
(17:07):
to take them in Hatton Bridge this morning. I took
that down canal and things seemed okay. There was a
little bit of broken glass whatnot. But once I made
a left on a broadway, there were a bunch of
people on bicycles with backpacks, and as I was sitting
at the red light, one of them took out a
hammer and smashed the window of this store. And at
that point, I just like, what's going on, you know,
(17:28):
So I just gunned it and and left. I blew
through the lights, and I just you know, I had
to get to work. You know. The thing is, these
are lawless thieves. These are not your protesters. These are
the guys that are giving the peaceful protesters a bad name,
you know. I mean, these are people that are out
when they're not supposed to be and doing criminal things.
(17:48):
And it's just it's totally skewing the message that people
are trying to get out there, and it's it's sad
and and and disheartening, you know. Yeah. Well uh And
I said to Scotty and I said, was scary. And
I said to Nate, I said, if if for one
second you feel as if you're in danger or whatever.
Turn around, get out of it. It's not worth it.
It's okay, And uh, I don't know. So Nate and
(18:09):
Scary came in from the west, the west side. Scary
took an uber because he didn't want to park his
car on the streets. There's glass on almost every street
down there, right, Nate, Yeah, I I ran to grab
hiss coffee a couple hours ago, and you know, across
Canal Street and there's just broken glass on the street,
and there's trash because you know, trash cans have been
knocked over, so it's just blown in the streets. And
it's it's not the New York City that you guys remember.
(18:32):
It's it's definitely different. I mean between COVID and now
this it's I don't even recommend. It's desolate. And uh
I had to take some you know, there was road closures.
So going home yesterday, I ended up going through Soho
not not for to see what was going on, because
I had to. And the three or four blocks that
I was there, I just couldn't believe that the the
(18:52):
desecration and devastation, the graffiti everywhere, stuff that was just
again burned things, crap, all over the street, um empty
boxes and things, and and then broken glass everywhere, shattered
and whatever it wasn't shattered was just boarded up. So yeah,
and don't think that, you know, if you're in the suburbs,
that this can't happen. I've been hearing from a bunch
(19:15):
of people this morning that, you know, just in case,
they're now boarding up all the windows at the Walt
Whippon Mall in Huntington's. So I mean, this is happening.
This is widespread. It's not just a city thing. So
you know, it's got to be careful. And then there
are those people like Uncle Johnny who are living in
their bubble today. Johnny is out on Fire Island. Get
(19:36):
to Uncle Johnny on here scary He's now there. You go, Hi,
Uncle Johnny. How are you fabulous? How are you guys terrible? Yeah?
I know, I know, Uncle john Uncle Johnny, Uncle Johnny.
(19:57):
I know, Uncle Johnny, your apartment is like right by
the guard and that's they got hit hard over there.
So I know. I saw that on television. I went, Wow,
it's going to like a block and a half away
from me, I know. But the thing is when you
go to visit Uncle Johnny's apartment. You We've always thought,
oh my god, it's someone just loot this place. But
that's just the way it always is. Yeah, the Adams family.
(20:25):
The Adams family had in Manhattan apartment, it would be
Uncle Johnny, Uncle Johnny. But you know what, it is
very important for us to take care of our elder
elderly friends. How are you doing out there on Fire Island?
Very nice and feeling safe. I had my test the
other day and I'm negative. So everything is nice so far,
and I'm safe. I wear my little mask around and
(20:49):
doing good out here. We're not open yet. I probably
won't be working until at the end of the month
of July. And uh, at least that's it. There's not
that many people around, and it's it's it's pretty, you know.
And you're getting your martiniz in. I know because we
started getting getting your text around five fifteen fifteen minutes
(21:11):
into the martini hour, and we don't know what you're saying.
We have no clue what you're saying. Well, Surry doesn't
understand me. Maybe if you got her name right, name right,
talking to the microphone and then he'll yell in the background.
(21:36):
So nothing that nobody ever stands anything. Yeah, I know so.
So Uncle Johnny's little Vienna sausage fingers are too fat
for the for the iPhone, so he has to yell
at Surrey as he calls her. And then he has
that Boston accent, so no one Surrey doesn't know what
this h you sound. You do sound great, though, and
you know there's something about hearing Uncle Johnny's voice which
(21:58):
is very, very comforting. We love you, Uncle Johnny. I
miss you guys so much. I can't wait till we
get back to somewhat normal. But when we come back
to somewhat normal, we've learned new lessons and we need
to move forward in our lives with a new perspective.
And that's what we cannot take focus off of that.
And I do want you to have a safe day.
(22:20):
And I'll tell you what this afternoon, after five o'clock,
Alex and are going to join you. We'll have a
cocktail with you on the on on the Surrey. He
might be too for us, now, Yeah, it is Gay
Pride month? Are you gay? I'm I'm old and I'm
gay and I wear it to gay all right? What
was that, Alex? He might be too busy for us.
He's out there now with all his friends, and he
(22:43):
doesn't even want to deal with us. See, Johnny's at
the age where we don't call him his friends, we
call him his cronies. Vot is coming in now. The
whole top is full. I beg your pardon. It's supposed
oh the oh, the fairies arriving from the mainland, and
oh there's a lot of people coming over. All right, right,
(23:09):
all right, we love you, uncle Johnny. We'll talk to
you later. Okay, it's very much Stay safe. I love
you all, and everything's going to be fine. I'll make
sure now. I feel pretty good. Thanks bye. To live
in his world, to live, Yeah, I want, you know,
(23:30):
to let's take a break when we come back. I
want to do the Daniel port. I want to go
around the room. Where are we gonna have time to
play big herm back today? So yeah, I think so,
I think we will. All right, let's hurt, let's take
a break. We'll be back after this. Right. You're listening
to a bonus hour of Elvis to rand in this
one morning show. Here's Elvis is the one hundred the
bonus hour. Where are you going to go next. I
(23:53):
think we were gonna do uh big herm. Weren't we
do we have time for a big hermy? Okay? So
uh you sure we have time because we spent a
lot of time with this gentleman this morning, and every
second was gold. We have time. Okay, So this morning,
you know, and every morning at six o'clock he's coast time,
New York time. We put the first caller of the
(24:14):
day on way too early for most people, saying people anyway,
but we're awake. Big Hern has been a fan of
our show for a while. You'll hear the whole story.
He sets it up beautifully. I want you to hear
today's what what's scary? I'm looking for the clip and
I do not see it. I thought it was ready
any minute now. Because Sam's working remotely, she's got a
(24:34):
wait for it to transfer. It's transferring. Okay, give it
a little bit of time. You can do, Danielle. Well, absolutely,
we can do, Danielle. Danielle, you'd like to be done, Danielle,
You're we're gonna do you secondhand, because we were gonna
do her first sight. Yeah, all right, Danielle, take it away, right.
(25:00):
So here is the first. The current Miss America will
become the first woman to serve two years as for
Miss America. Because of COVID nineteen, we cannot have another
Miss America, so we're gonna let her have it for
two years. Carol Daskin has been granted control of Joe
Exotics former zoo. He must be sitting in jail right
(25:21):
now with steam coming out of his ears. Jeff Jeff Low,
who has it right now, is a hundred and twenty
days to vacate the property. Apparently no one's coming. It's
not doing very well right now. It's just a mess.
And Joe transferred the zoo to his mom and it
wasn't done illegally and so he wanted to keep it
away from creditors. But now creditors are gonna wind up
(25:44):
getting it and Carol gets it and it's a big mess.
So we'll see what she does with it. She I
could just imagine what how her a little happy dance
that she did when she found out she was exactly
So we'll see what happens there. Tyler Perry reached out
to George Floyd family. They want peaceful protests. Um they're
adamant about that and Um. Tyler actually took to his
(26:07):
Instagram and he was talking about his meetings with black
families and white families and now they want to come
together and help each other. And if you get a chance,
go and check out what Tyler had to say because
it is definitely very interesting. Congratulations Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande.
Their song Rain On Me debuted at number one on
the Hot one hundred Singles chart, so that's exciting. Uh.
(26:28):
The Tony Awards were supposed to be happening, but they
aren't being postponed. They've decided that because of everything going
on right now in New York City, the virtual celebration
is going to be postponed. So that's going to happen.
And the Major League Baseball Players Association is now pushing
for a one fourteen game season. They were gonna do
(26:48):
uh something where the players with underlying health issues could
opt out but still get paid. So they're waiting to
see what owners are saying to this, and obviously they're
thinking the owners might reject it, and that hopefully they'll
come to some kind of an agreement and later on
in the week they'll make some kind of a deal
and we'll find out when we're going to actually get
(27:09):
a season, and we'll get some kind of a season,
which would be awesome because I know we're all sitting
here waiting for some kind of baseball season to happen.
So we'll see if that happens. I'll hold on. I
dropped the piece of paper, but look at it. Look
at the hold on. She was like a square roll
he She was like really fast, like that's my nervous
(27:30):
true because I'm waiting for the big herm clip to
show up and it has not showed up yet. Okay,
but more scary. You just don't stop until big herm
gets here. Okay, Okay. So so how about this the
girl who captured the video of George Floyd being killed
by the Minneapolis police officers. She is going through therapy
(27:51):
right now. She's only seventeen years old. They've started to
go fund me page and in two days it has
raised over fifty k. Her family decided to relocate because
of all the attention that they're getting. And obviously, at
seventeen years old, this is a lot for her to
have to handle right now. And uh, she's going through
(28:12):
a lot and it's a lot of trauma. So Thankfully,
she is getting therapy for for what what went down
in front of her. Kim and Kanye have decided that listen,
if you're gonna talk about what you see behind the scenes,
even though you had to sign a paper saying that
you weren't going to talk about what you saw behind
the scenes, we're gonna sue you. This is what they're
telling their former bodyguard, because this guy has already gone
on a podcast and said that Kanye used to make
(28:34):
him walk ten paces behind him, that Kanye would would say, look,
you can't block the paparazzi from getting a picture of me.
And he is saying that Kanye was one of the
moodiest and neediest celebrities that he has ever worked with,
and now he wants to go out and say even more.
So Kim and Kanye are saying, look, you want to
(28:55):
say more, you're gonna get sued. So we'll see what
happens there. You got that clip, yacht scary Not yet.
They have spent her way out of being a billionaire,
and I told you yesterday, Forbes has thrown her out
of that billionaire club. Right. She may have to spend
(29:16):
the money she spent about a hundred and thirty million
dollars on everything from private jets to elaborate birthday parties
for her kid. She just spends money like it's going
out of business. And if you spend the money, you
don't have the money to keep you in the billionaire club.
So that may be what happened there on Netflix, Hulu
and Mary hold on, hold on the second. Wait wait wait, wait, wait, wait,
(29:37):
why are you pointing at me Alex, because that's you.
You you spend money in wait wait are you in
the billionaire club? But we don't know it. She just
said she spent a hundred and thirty million dollars on
birthday parties and jet rides. I hate Alex, did you?
(30:02):
And you're chumming up Alex's birthday coming up? At this rate?
It may not be Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Prime, Stars YouTube
all taking to social to obviously show their support for
what's going on right now, YouTube pledging a million dollars
in support of efforts to address social injustice. And I
(30:23):
know yesterday my son Preston, who's ten or eleven? Now?
I keep forgetting these tener eleven, he's eleven. He was
watching a lot of his favorite YouTube guys, and they
were talking about what was going on, and they were
talking about all the great things that they're going to
be doing for everything. So that's that's important. Scary you
got the clip yet, got some bad news there, Danielle. Okay,
(30:46):
hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on now. Now
we can't we can't push start unless we have time
for it. So do we have time for it? We do? Producer, Sam,
I love you so much. I'm sure she was sweat
that out. Okay, So this morning, our first caller, our
first caller of the day, was Big Herm from Richmond,
Virginia listening to us down there. I just want I
(31:08):
just want to go ahead and play this for you,
our first and our last caller of the day, Big Herm.
Here we go. I want to talk to Big Herm
from Richmond, Virginia. Big Hey, you know Big Herm. I
don't know if you know this, but all the way
up here in New York City, we we've heard of you.
We you're like a celebrity and you have damn com doonells.
(31:30):
I know everybody knows you, but my daughter says, I'm
barely a local celebrity. I love you, guys, I want
to listen to you guys every more. The fact that
we I saw your name on the screen this morning
was like, whoa, my nipples are kind of hard. Big
Herms on the phone, commy, I know you have blue
Mary and I am to a twenty two years in
my wife and show. So just calming down a little bit,
(31:50):
but all right, you keep I do love. Yeah, I
don't get me wrong, but just a little bit. But
I don't called me like this morning. So but yeah,
every morning, you know I represent I'm not saying to
represent all the black community, but I am your Black
(32:11):
listener here in Richmond every morning. Just so you know,
we'll see today's Tuesday. So today is meat loaf Patti's
day at Big Herms Kitchen. It is not sandwich day.
It is us day chicken sandwiches. So Nick didn't do
his whole research. But it's okay. Tom's Burger Day was
(32:32):
the menu that straight, and they gave me it's not
right because it's according to this menu. Yesterday was barbecue
jack chicken day and I missed that. I'm stay there
may be some excommunication because we do family meals. I
wanna say, I know this is not a commercial about
a big Herms kitchen. But I can do it all
day long, three fifteen on Second Street, Rich Virginia, one
(32:52):
ninety four four three zero two zero two. So yeah,
can pick up well yeah, so um yeah, that's what's
going on here. As for her as that goes yes, sir,
well he let me ask you, so family meals? Is
that is that a temporary thing until everything's open again
and so you'll get back to the regular bannue at
that point. Um, we will actually um um, oh, it's
(33:14):
send everybody else there. Um, we have been we've actually
extended hours. Um since this COVID nineteen, we've always been
taking out the delivery for the last year. So it's
unfortunately there's no catering here. Um as far as people
we were you know, tell people and more can gather together,
so there's no catering. So that kind of affects us
a live. But since the COVID nineteen we have actually
(33:37):
been busier. Um we have to take out the delivery,
which is weird because the city is still certainly for
ever sent lockdown as far as city Hall and people
working and all that stuff. It's worth in the city.
So um, but the kitchen itself has been busier because
we've kind of been trying to sell it like now
now you're at home. Um, we had a lot of people.
We do eleven and six Monday through Thursday, and then
(33:58):
we do actually eleven and nine on Fridays, So we've
actually been busier because yes, I gotta tell you something.
The only way you can, the only way you can
do as great as you're doing right now is because
obviously you had something really good going on before the
COVID hit. You must have so many fans in in
(34:18):
the Richmond. So here's what I'm saying. If you're in Richmond, Virginia,
you support Big Herm. And if you're driving through no
no matter now or later, you you look up Big Herman,
you stopped by and you say we're coming by, we're
gonna take some stuff out, and knowing that you're listening,
it's just it really, Actually, you know what I can
I be just britily honest with everyone. When we walked
in the studio today, we didn't know what the f
to do today because it is not a good day everywhere.
(34:40):
It's a great day in some places, and you set
the pace for us to come in here and do
a good show for people like you are listening, people
who are positive and doing the right thing. Big herm.
We love you, man, thank you for thank you for
saving us today. And now I'm hungry. Yeah, there you go.
I need to stop by, so please do. And knows
I'm not sure how much time we have. And I
on the first. I've never been the first caller. I
(35:01):
always tried to call Lano text in um. But if
as I can said a brief story about what you
just said, I want to say thank you for what
you just said personally, uh and once apologize taking two
much of good time. But now I gotta having hearing
your voice. Hearing your voice is like just a nice
warm blanket that is cuddling me up in the bed.
And I'm not in a sex way a very you
(35:24):
had a hard nipples. Come on, man, we're going. Man
just called me and said, I justiceve been a little
bit this more and most of them up in four thirty.
I've been a little bit today and then all this,
so anyway, yes, I mean it's it's gonna be all right.
And and then like I said, you know, we've actually
seen I was in our restaurant. We have no vandalism
in my restaurant, but in broad Street looks like beirute.
(35:46):
I'm not sure what's going on in New York, but
I don't know what you've seen what's going on TV here,
but it's been rough and I want to I want
to Facebook live on my personal page. Yesterday we we
I said, we took it lf We We just didn't
represent ourselves, us being everybody, not black, not white, everybody.
We just didn't do a good job. Hermia, right, you know,
I just you're asking what it's like in New York City. Uh,
(36:08):
it was a night of hell. And here's what we're seeing,
peaceful protesters and looters and they and they're fighting each other.
The protesters are trying to stop the bad people from
doing the bad stuff because it's their right to continue
the story of George Floyd and everyone before him who
this is all about. And the looters they are organized
(36:29):
and they're going from Gucci to Fendi to Macy's. They
broke into Macy's. They I bet you anything, they don't
even they don't even care who George Floyd was. They
just want to break into stores and steal stuff. I'm
telling you right now. But there's there's people out there
with the hearts of gold who's right to peacefully protest
are being squelched because of bad people. And that's that's
(36:51):
our that's our headline in New York this morning, and
it's it's sad, but the same thing. The whole weekend
has been the same here and it's just been people
this guy's days, protesters, um and one things white black
is there. You know the demographic it doesn't really matter
for say, but we're not doing it for the right reason.
But they're not doing it for it right now. But
you know what, though you know what you're doing, you're
(37:12):
everything you're doing is for the right reason. That's why
we That's why, my god, you've been on the phone
for fifteen minutes. I don't want to let you go
because if I'm afraid, if I let you go, I
gotta face reality and I don't want to. But the
thing is, but the thing is is you are. You
are a major part of reality. And I want people
to see that today. And this is another headline today.
Big herm is if you turn on CNN or Fox News,
(37:32):
you're gonna see what they want you to see. And
that's the cameras focused on violence. And there's another story
I here. The other headline today is Big Herm. The
other headline today is people like you who are out
there doing right in this world. That's why you're I
feel like if I let you go, then you know
it's gonna be a day a day without you. But
I'm gonna I'm gonna think about you all day, Big Herman.
(37:53):
And we're so so honored to have you on our
show today. Thank you so much. So if you haven't
need anything, know y'all need a voice in Richmond, please
give me a call back. Such a such a what
a wonderful day. It's gonna be a good day thanks
to you. And uh, look here's what we're gonna do.
I I promise you, and I'm warning you, we're coming down.
(38:15):
We've got to see you. And uh and uh let's
stay can we please stay in touch, Big Herm. And
if you need anything, we just let us know, and
and and and Nate's gonna give you, uh the inside
number in case you ever need us. So whatever you
ever need to call us, Okay, you'd be safe. And
what do you wait, wait, hold on, what are you
cooking today. I forgot what today special was. Good morning?
(38:44):
All right, there you goes. It was a big herm
starting our show off, the first caller of the day.
But we were still we were still asleep. We were
still asleep, but he woke us up. So I think
that's the headline today is wake up and I hope
you have a great day. Guys, thank you, thanks for
hanging in here for the bonus hour. This week we're
doing the Bonus Hour and Z one hundred. We gotta
get out of here until tomorrow morning. On Z one
