Speaker 1 (00:21):
What would you talk about on your on your podcast,
Elvis Represents fifteen minute morning show. Anybody want to start this?
(00:47):
What It's one of those weird things where we're all
busy doing something and so we just could go on
the podcast and now we're here. So it's like we
jumped off the cliff, didn't check if we had the
parachute on, and hopefully we do. So it was water
where we were jumping, or snow. I think we could
survive in snow, like very deep snow. I've called this before.
That's some of our greatest podcasts have started with just
(01:08):
us hitting the button and just going I know, but
you can't rely on that every time, and that's what
we do. Well. I'm banking on it right now. Don't
worry that I have a parachute in case this goes sideway.
Have you ever gone skydiving? Yes, I have, scary No.
Zip lining was the closest. Zip lining is the closest
I've ever gotten to nate. Have you. Yeah, It's one
(01:30):
of those things that I'm always on the fence. I
want to do it, but I don't want to do it.
I've done skydiving and bungee jumping. Bungee jumping to me
was more terrifying. But they were both freaking awesome. And
if I could recommend you guys doing something, to do it,
just give you a new little lease on life. You're like,
I survived Vaniel. You ever skydive? Uh No, And I'd
love to. I'm in the same way, but I also
(01:51):
have those days where I'm like, not not doing it?
Do it? Do it. The craziest part about skydiving is
they take you up in this little plane and you're
circling around and it's going high and higher and higher,
and then you're strapped to another person and they say, okay,
go ahead and take a step out of the plane.
I feel like, I'm sorry what opened opened the door?
And take a step out, and you step onto this
tiny little ledge that just two feet can fit on,
(02:13):
and then they dive off. It was awesome. I think
it's safe to say we all can agree that Brody
never went skydiving. Nod. I've been in elevators and buildings.
Does that count? No? No, I am not. I'm not
a daredevil. I don't like heights. I don't like things
that increase my odds of dying. You don't want to
repel off the side of a building. No, although I
get nervous watching Gandhi bungee jump, like I got anxiety over.
(02:37):
Even though I already knew she came back to work,
I still couldn't watch it. It was so awesome. Never
in my life, though, haven't been that actually scared of
something like. I was standing on the platform looking down
however many stories that was and my leg was shaking
and they count you down. They say three to one,
and I was just like, if I don't do it now,
I'm never gonna do it. Just jumped off the edge.
It was fun. You guys have seen people jump out
of planes. They look nervous. Gandhi was nervous for a second.
(02:59):
It was has it patian? Yeah, But then she dove
like a swan like, okay, I'm doing it. But there
was no there was no fear in the jump. Oh
there was fear, trust me. It didn't look like how
do you do that? How do you like not like
hold your head and like ball up and you know,
so I don't know if you guys, if we've ever
talked about it, Garrett has definitely witnessed it firsthand. I
get scared but it never manifests in a reaction at all,
(03:22):
Like if you pop out at me in my head,
I'll be like, ah, but I just stand there and
stare at you. So everybody tries to scare me all
the time. It never works. So I think that just
all goes back to the same thing. It's not that
I'm not scared. I just don't know why I don't
show it. And it's very disappointing because I took I
took a lot of time to plan out to scare you.
I got everybody on the show, and then you're just like, hey,
what are you doing? Where are you? Give me a
(03:44):
scared one day of course, and this the thing I'm like,
it's not that I'm not scared. I am scared. I
don't know why it doesn't come out. My mom said
she thinks I'm easily kidnapped. I think it's a sign
of a sociopath, isn't it. I'm not even kidding, Like
I think that's one of the signs of a bay
or the marijuana. Oh yes, no, no, no, all wind
(04:08):
smokers are mellow a lot of times, Like I think
you don't, Yeah, that could be part of it. I'm
kind of like Gandhi, I don't really show fear. I
don't really feel it, Like what would scare to you? Well,
I'll tell you this. When I got when I got
engaged and I proposed, I didn't get scared until laughter.
I didn't get nervous until after. And then I was like,
oh ship. She could have said no, so you know
(04:28):
she's not gonna I know that. But she asked me.
She said, were you nervous? And I go, honestly, not really,
And I felt bad saying that. But I don't get nervous.
I don't get scared when I have to host the
show at a moment's notice, when Elvis is sick, I
don't really get nervous. Is nervous the same affection affliction
as fear. I don't get nervous like I can get
(04:52):
on stage and perform, or if I had to jump
on the micare, I wouldn't be nervous, but like staying
on a ledge of a building, I would be ter
fight nervous. Yeah, I mean, very few things make me
nervous or scare me anymore. Maybe it's because twice what
are you supposed to say? On with Gandhi? I scaled
a building like years ago for charity, and this building
was like ridiculously tall, and they kept telling us, well,
(05:16):
when you get there, you know there's the harness behind you,
so you just because you're going backwards the whole time,
you're just lean back. It's got you. And you're like,
it takes you a while to really trust that the
harness has You're you're holding on for dear life. And
I was scared shitless, but I think I'm like you
like I I. Once I started, I was like, Okay,
(05:36):
I got this. Gandhi was with me when I went
zip lining in Singapore for the first time last year.
Is that the craziest thing you've ever done. That is
probably the craziest thing I've ever got on your face
the whole time I was and I was frightened. I
was holding onto that line for dear life. I couldn't
enjoy the ride, but at least it was it was exhilarating.
(05:59):
Was it was taking that step off the platform, which
really was the most frightening moment. I'm like, oh my god,
I'm literally gonna walk off this platform and just let
myself go and let the line do the rest. And
it was it was frightening as fuck, But you did it.
I was like to me, I feel like the scariest choices,
the scariest things that I've ever done in my life
(06:20):
have always yielded the best results, and now I'm upset
that the only video that exists of me is me
holding on for dear life, not having You can do
it again. You could go zip line the zip lining
all over the place in a minute. The the off
road adventure that your friends went on when they read
AVVS was that before after the zip lining? That was after?
Because you were afraid to do that too? Yes, he was.
(06:43):
He was going to fake a video. I was afraid
because we were going to go off roading in dirt
roads and hills. You know he's an a TV on
a smooth road, right, I know what she gotta do. Here,
we're talking about what scares us, what debt defying thing,
or what's the scariest thing you think you've ever done
in your life? Walk into a rumor? People are already talking.
(07:06):
But what's that that you're eating? It's a chicken sausage biscuit.
I'm a little hungry too, But thanks for offering. Did
you get that? Trust? Nobody wanted food for our meeting
coming up. That's nice. Why what are you what are
you scared of? No, we were just talking about bungee jumping,
and then we got into the scariest thing that you've
ever done. Like Scary was talking about zip lining last
year and that was the craziest thing he's ever done. Insane.
(07:31):
I zip lined over gators, alligators in Florida. That was cool, yeah,
but it was Yeah, you have one. I would trying
to think it through. I'm trying to think what I've
done that that is as equal two or more insane.
I think sleeping outside with lions in Africa like roaring.
It's exciting, but they don't have thumbs, therefore they can't
(07:51):
unzip the tents. And really they have teeth, but they don't.
They're not gonna zip. I know how to zip zippers
with my teeth, but lions. Lions have not perfected that.
I don't think it has to be something like jumping
off the side of a cliff or hang gliding or whatever.
I mean. I think it comes down to moving to
a new city by yourself. That stuff can be terrifying too.
There has to be stuff I would imagine writing a
(08:13):
book and then publishing it for the world. You read
probably a little scary, terrifying. No, I mean a little edgy,
a little oh my god, adrenaline. I'm thinking of adrenaline things. Maybe,
so we're thinking about different things. What about you, straight Nate?
You know what I want to do? Wingsuits surfing. Have
you guys seen this. There's these guys and they have wingsuits.
So it's like a body suit with wings attached from
(08:36):
the body to the arms and that that's it. And
then they jump off a cliff and go sailing down
a canyon, flying the whole time. If your doctor recommended
you do this, well listen. But at the same time,
I'm going to live my life, damn it. Yes, it
sounds very classy. Though, yeah, I know. It sounds like
you are as close to being a bird than you'll
(08:57):
ever be. It's incredible. And how they stop. I really
haven't seen the end of the video, which kind of
scared me. You should find out before you do it,
you really find out, like how do you train for
something like that? Like you just do it? Like how
do you train for that? I think hand gliding probably,
I'm thinking what Brody's trained, thinking how do you train
for something like that. You don't. You just don't know.
I was going to tell you this crazy thing I
did once. I ate something great. I got on a plane.
(09:20):
I flew to Europe to each their own. That was it.
That was insane. I moved across the country, didn't know anybody,
didn't have a place to stay, and he just did,
just did it. That stuff doesn't seem scary, it's not.
I think you'd be scarier where your friend did, where
(09:40):
he just quit his job and moved with you and
then lived in your house with no plan whatsoever, try
to get a job. Took him three months. Okay, you
know what would terrify me, having a kid. Yeah, the
scariest part about that is the first kid, because after that,
you know, not even the birth of the kid, just
like going, oh ship, Now I'm responsible for this person.
(10:02):
I can't even what are my plants on time? Like
what how am I going to do this? And then
thankfully it just kind of kicks in. I think you
kind of figure it out. That's what I've heard from parents.
You just do it. You don't ask questions, It just works,
It just happens. Yes, you're you're definitely scared when you
walk in at the hospital for the first time. But
if you're fortunate enough to have a second kid, I
could tell you. I was walking out of the hospital
(10:22):
like a senior in college looking at the freshman walking in, going, Uh,
your little kids, you're scared. Don't worry about it. You
got this. Except that the day that we were at
home and the older child wanted to go outside, but
it was too cold for the younger child, and I
was by myself, and I go, what the do I
do now? And I just started crying. This one wants
(10:43):
to go here. I can't do this, And then you
kind of figure it out. You hear from life's masters.
They tell us all the time. You need to push yourself,
you need to do things that are a little uncomfortable.
You need to take chances and not be so afraid
of failure. Failure scares me me too, but failure taste
(11:05):
part of every success story. It has to happen. Nobody
just succeeds immediately. It's true. And I've taken many, many
chances and will continue to do that, and I've seen payoff.
I see how that philosophy pays off. You have to
take chances, and understand that it may not work, but
it works. It's it's still It gets my adrenaline going,
and you learn from failure to tweak it for the
next time. Next time, maybe you're successful. The only thing
(11:27):
I learned from failures. I don't like it. It's terrible.
I wouldn't know. I've heard from By the way, what's
that you're eating? I want to order from Star you
want the rest of it? I want to sausages with
a little bacon. It's not that great. Order two of those. Yes,
it's not that great. Have some finishing it. I'm thinking
of she's scaring me the way she's going, and he's
(11:54):
sled next to lions. They would have come for that sandwich.
I bet they didn't scare me at all. I know,
that's what I'm saying, Danielle, scaring you know, the way
she's looking at you in your sandwich. I saw a
movie involving lions and tents and stuff, and they could
get into the tent. They got into a hospital and
you never see the ghosts in the darkness. That was
a true story of the Lions of the So I
think they tweet that a little bit. I read a
(12:15):
lot were talking. I will tell you this while on
safari with Alex. So Alex understands because of his experience
with animals what they can and cannot do to you. Um. So,
when we were in Rwanda, we're on the side of
a volcano, hanging out with a family of gorillas, and
they said, don't look at them, just look down, be still.
There is one gorilla in this family that will try
(12:36):
to push your buttons. He may even slap you upside
your head. Just ignore it and move on. So I
look over and Alex's sweating. He's like, I don't know,
I don't my ConTroll. He says, I know what they
can do to you. They could just pop your head
off like a cork. And I'm like, oh please, He said,
have you seen their teeth? They could bite your face
off and then just move on and not think twice
about about it. So we did it, and sure enough,
(12:58):
this little grilla, not a little this, this this gorilla
mail comes running up to us, comes right next to me,
pushes me into the to the guide. I'm hugging the guy.
I have my arms around him like I'm about to
make love to him, and I see Alex over there.
You can see Alex shaking. I was excited. It was
exhilarating to me, but to Alex it was few. It
(13:19):
was pure fright. Yeah, I would be terrified of that.
That would definitely scare me. Out of instance. Later on
Alex said, you know what something about you and said,
what's that? He said, you don't get afraid? He said,
you should. You should allow fright into your life a
little bit, because one day it may save your life.
It is a defense mechanisms. I'm just not really afraid
of a lot, especially you know, having having my head
(13:41):
ripped off by a gorilla. Men, scare me. Your arms
up and you want to go gorilla. Let's go a
famous DJ Elvis Durand's head ripped off by gorilla details
at nine. Watch the video here, God, God would tell people,
don't watch the video. Don't watch that video. Let me
(14:02):
ask you this. I mean, is it bad not to
be afraid? I mean? Should we let our fright mechanism
kick in? Yes? All right? What we gotta get out
of here? The fifteen Minute Morning Show
