Speaker 1 (00:02):
What would you talk about on your on your podcast
Firms Represents show. You know, it's so great about today's podcast.
All ten microphones are open. We got a crowd. We've
got Scary, We've got Gandhi, We've got Froggy in Jacksonville.

(00:24):
We have Brody, we have our friend Vienny from from Africa,
from Tanzania. We have uh, we have with Garrett. We
have Dan Island from Staten Island. We have also from
Staten Island. My fiance Alex is here. Also Gigey Goo Rep. Rep.
Tal Matt from the Statanon Zoo is here. And there's Danielle,
and there's an Mike's eleven people and now the podcast. Yeah,

(00:49):
we used the entire fifteen minutes to tell you who's here. You. Hey, Froggy,
this is the first podcast you've been on with us.
I mean I've done one before when I'm there, but
it's the first one I've done remotely. All right, So anyway,
if you didn't listen to our show on the radio
this morning, uh this is Monday, by the way, Uh,
you missed our friend Vienna who's visiting from Tanzania. Now,

(01:09):
Alex and I first met Vienna when we went on
Safari like three years ago, and then we went back
with Vienna. We spent a whole whole week with him,
flying around two different points in Tanzania, and he was
our guy, but more than that, he's our friend. We
had such a great time with him, we wanted to
bring him on the show. He's his first time in
the US. Let's talk about that, Vienna. What's it like

(01:31):
getting off a plane in New York and never You've
never stepped foot in the city. You've never been out
south of Africa? Have you know? This is the first
time the first time? Now, is it anything you expected?
Or is it worse? Is it better? I mean, what
what do you what do you get when you come
to New York? What is it like for you? The
first that was nervous being outside Africa, but also taking

(01:56):
about twenty two hours of fly it's a bit right, yeah.
And also you know when I got your I almost cried, Actually,
why is that the first time being here? Of all
his dreamed to be in the States, you know, and
then I had this opportunity to be here. And they

(02:17):
landed at JFK and I had tears in my eyes,
like it's a dream come truth for me. I thought
he was going to say, because he got jacked him
for his food, crappy could we always want to look
we take it for granted because we live here. I mean,
we live in this crazy town, so Mike. So it's

(02:38):
interesting to see it through someone else's eyes and to
be able to share it with Vienna Is. It's been
very interesting because like, for instance, Brody born and raised
in Brooklyn. He's a tough guy. I liked where you
put the accent on when you say that they born
and raised, Like, aren't you kind of curious to know
what an outsider thinks of your city? The first thing
I said to him, I said, it was the first
time here. I confirmed that, and I said, what are

(02:59):
your impressions? We're much nicer than we are in the movies,
and what have you seen? And I told him that
the rats are as large as the leopards, so you
feel you'd feel at home. But he you know, we
talked a little bit about the pace, and you know,
we didn't get to the buildings and the food yet.
But at any time anybody comes to New York from
anywhere in the country, let alone the world, I get
a sense of pride, and I want them to love

(03:20):
it here. And so the fact that you've never been
to America. New York is far from everything there is
to offer in America. It's one little, little little piece.
But um gosh, I hope you have a great time.
Do you know what you're gonna do the rest of
the week month? So I'm gonna go to Staten Island
from the second to six of April and being an

(03:44):
animal expert, so I'm I'll be sharing my knowledge with
the people there at the zoo and I'm doing a
presentation about Africa. So it's going to be about guiding
about drying conservations about wild dogs. Me Elvis and Alex
we saw a pack of wild dog and sad to say,

(04:08):
the conservations were not really into them that much, and
that pack all of them died. So you know, it's
a sad story, and they want to share this story
with the rest of the world to know how important
these wild dogs are into dogs. They had disease. They

(04:29):
had a disease. They got the disease from the domestic dogs.
It's a it's a bad disease. It was kind of
interesting about on that point. If you know that Vienna
comes from Russia, right, and most people there, if they
have a dog, it's a guard dog. A lot of
people they don't do dogs like we do as pets

(04:49):
as much. They really had to have a purpose. So
when he met our schnauser Max, it was kind of
it's kind of awkward. He's like, I don't know how
this dog's not a guard dog. He's a good guy.
Is at it a good guy? Yesterday? He said by
me because I was giving me a good message. You

(05:12):
know what, Max does not come anywhere near me unless
I have food. I tried my hart ist like pet
him and hug him, and he just runs away side
for you, alright, So I'll teach you. I'll teach you
a secret. Okay, tell me the secret. Okay. Questions for Vienna. Everyone.
Everyone has to have one question about Safari or it
doesn't matter. There's no stupid question. Well I have it.

(05:33):
So he got to meet your dog, Max. And I
know when I go over someone's house and I come home,
my dog smells Max or another dog and starts getting
piste off. When he goes back home and hangs out
with tigers. Are are the tigers and lions and other
animals gonna smell Max and go what the hell is that?
Uh no, there's your first, there's your first stupid questions. Right,

(05:57):
there's no tigers, no tigers an epic. But in general,
the center is a very important part of their life. Yes,
so by the time I go back home, I get
into my uniform, my what plood? I don't I don't
work like this, so my the scent of Max will
be away. So I think there will be smelling mostly

(06:21):
the fuel, the diesel that you use into the vehicle,
not personal scent, because you apply lots of things on
our bodies, they cannot really tell. But the scent of
the diesel you're using the vehicles is one thing that
the animals smell the most, and once they get the smell,
they know exactly it's the same smell that's been coming
into them every day. Are there certain triggers like for

(06:46):
the animals, I know you're talking about motion, don't stand
up in the vehicle, don't obviously get out of the vehicle,
But like colors do anything anything like that, does it
set them off? So kind of if you have if
you wear red, you know red is very presentable. Are
you giving out yourself if you were very bright white.
You know. That's why we tell people when you're coming

(07:08):
on safari, try to avoid bright colors clothes. You need
to getting into the environment to get the khaki, get
the green. So my red sweatshirt that I'm wearing right
now would get me killed. You don't get killed. But
maybe you know different from the environment. But I think

(07:31):
the whole point is to get in and out without
them knowing you're there. There you just want to observe them.
I think, having never been to Africa, a lot of
the people in this room have an image of Africa
trees and planes and lions roaming free, and only what
we see in the movies. So when your dream was
to come to America, a two part question, what was
your image of New York? What did you picture in

(07:52):
New York that you had to come see And what
is your vision of America when you think of the states?
So told buildings it's the first thing, you know, we
don't have these tall buildings in my country. So that
was the first thing I wanted to see. And you know,
there's a lot I was in Times squares, all the

(08:12):
you know, taxes, the New York taxs that we see
in movies and everything. So things like those are things
that I wanted really to see and stuff I've seen
almost most of them. Okay, what was the second part
of your question? I was when you think of America?
What is it you think about when you when you
thought of coming to the States or growing up in

(08:33):
Africa and you heard about America when you come here?
What was the picture in your head of our country? Uh?
You know, I've I've worked with lots of Americans, so
I knew Americans are good people before even I got here.
And you know I failed. I'm going to a country
that people will welcome me because I do the same
to them when they come into my country. And every

(08:56):
time I tell a person and from Tanzania, they get
excited and like, come, I'm fun in New York, which
is a very good thing for me. Wet we are,
we are, we are? We got him drunk last night.
What's do you give tours to people from all over
the world? I'm assuming right, a lot of not just
United States. How many languages do you speak? In the

(09:17):
second question, English obviously isn't your first language, although you
speak it probably better than most of us here. What
is your first language. So my mother tongue is Sukuma,
that's my language, my first language. And then Swahili is
the country, the nation, the language of the nation. And
then is land English from school, okay, and can you

(09:37):
teach us anything in Swahili? Mambo mambo mamo that means hello, oh,
how do you say goodbye? Quahi? We know two things.
That's understand why we can't go do our show from there?
Right well, you know it would be if I had

(10:00):
my way, we would all be in in uh Tanzania
right now. The moon we can it's right, it's right.
We can send a man to the moon. Can't we
take our show to the Serengetti? Right? We according to
great Tea, we never landed on the moon. But you
know we'll figure it out. I mean, you would love it.
That's why I'm saying. Look, the first time we went
to on Safari, we didn't think it would be possible,

(10:23):
and we made it happen. You can go. You don't
have to spend your entire savings to go. You could
actually save money if you if you do it right.
And by the way, if you go to uh at
Elvis drand you can get on Instagram you can get
Vienna's page and go over there get information. He'll can
talk to him, he'll take you on safari. It's it's

(10:43):
it'll change your life. I'm sure it's unlike anything you've
ever done. Are there any American pop stars or celebrities
that you really want to meet while you're here? Like
run into I know you ran into Tracy Morgan at
the next game, which is really cool, But is there
anyone else? Look, Dunze is my favorite. I love to see.

(11:04):
Uh yeah, lots of celebrities I've I've guided you, but
it's it's not allowed to say who I've guided you.
It's it's all work policy, also for their security as well.
But yeah, I'd love to see more. I'd like to see,

(11:26):
you know, I saw yesterday he was at the game too,
was at the game right next to us. Okay, So
you know, for me, it's like a dream come true
because some of those people I dreamed to see them,
you know, and being with Tracy yesterday taking a picture

(11:47):
of him, that was like you know, going into the
moon and back. And that's the most important thing is
the fact that he was nice and you know, you
know what he said to me. I love you bro
next to me. He I mean they talked for like
like five five minutes. Maybe he'll come on Safari. Now
I work with celebrities all the time. He's got a
better celebrity friend than I ever. Well, I know he

(12:10):
can't say it, but you gotta think it's gotta be
Brad Pitt and Angelina when they took all their kids.
He's not gonna say, but I'm just guessing. But I'm
telling you as sure as I'm sitting here. If you
ever want to go on Safari, get your friends together.
If you're going together, you can plan it out with
each other, and you can save money the more. The
more people that go, I mean, it's it's less per person.

(12:33):
You gotta do it. It'll change your life. It's so
good to experience something that's so much bigger than we are.
You get out of your comfort zone. It's thrilling. You're
flying to a land you've you never dreamed you would
be able to fly to, and you see these animals
living their lives and they don't give a crap about you.
They live their lives and you just observe. It's so

(12:54):
fantastic to do that for yourself. Go discover something that's
bigger and better than you, and it's awesome. It really is.
One thing maybe I should tell people is a bit
getting lots of questions, is it's safe to do a safari?
We're going to be attacked? And let me tell people,
it's very safe to do a safari. My country is

(13:17):
very safe, very stable. We don't have any issues. You know,
coming enjoy the country, enjoy the safari, enjoy the people,
enjoy the capture. And then if you go back home.
I always say, safari is a life changing vacation. You
you coming on Safari, you leave a new person and

(13:41):
you always want to go back. That's why Elvis has
been coming back. I'm acting is you know it feels
when he's there is a brand new person. It leaves
a very brand new person because you know, it's not
about it's not about Safari, it's about what I tell
you know, how we explain the animals to you. It's

(14:02):
like I teach you about the animals, like I teach
you about the coatures, like I walk you through you know,
everything that is surrounding is and it's like you know,
you're out there landing, enjoying, having fun. Yeah. Wow, let's go.
It sounds a lot like riding the subway here, it's

(14:22):
almost as adventurous. It's life changing. All right, everyone, be honest.
Are you in, Froggy? You want to go? Hell? Yeah, Brody?
Can you do it? If we can take a boat there? Yes,
I'm in. Garrett, you want to go, Daniel you went, yes?
What about your I've wanted to go since yesterday? Scary? Alright,
let's find a way to go on safari. We'll figure

(14:45):
it out. All right. All right, we'll raise, we'll sell,
we'll sell cookies and raise money. Na, thanks for coming
