Speaker 1 (00:02):
For what would you talk about on your on your
podcast Phone presents show? All right, who's calling? Scary? His
phone is ringing? He has a look at he does
a look of disappointment on your face. What's wrong? Get
It's get forced and worse. Every day, guys, robo calls

(00:25):
to my cell phone. And I know everybody has this issue.
It's just NonStop. It's like it's almost like you get
rid of one call, it's like whack a mole and
twelve more pop up. I have to change my number.
And what if they're calling you to tell you your
powers off New York Power. What they do is they
do spooffing color I D spoofing. Sometimes they put people's
names and then it's a robot call person that goes, hello,

(00:49):
let us tell you about the new way of using
energy in the state of New Jersey. We know what do?
They also know what part of the city your your
phone is located, and they can tell by that they
can target calls to you. The reason I'm asking is,
you know my apartment is close to Chinatown. I get
calls in Chinese all the time. I think we're being

(01:10):
geo targeted. I'm being geo targeted by Chinatown. I've been
told I want a free cruise, a free trip almost
every day. See what if some of these calls are
actually great and we're just throwing them away. I don't
want to sound like my mom, but I am on
the do not call list? So how does this happen? Who?
Just does? I've been getting calls very similar to mine,
like my phone number, so a digit or two off.

(01:31):
So these robo calls go through like zero zero zero
one zero zero zero too, just until they get someone
to talk. So yeah, I get that too. I get
the eight one eight because I have a California number.
Every day, I get two or three eight one eights,
and then just random numbers, get the next girlfriend calling you.
How many of those do you have sing a song
about you in the phone? So here's my question. How

(01:55):
many people actually take the robo call and actually sign
up for the free cruise. They must have a lot,
because they wouldn't continuously do it if it wasn't you know,
they wouldn't pay people to make these calls or whatever
calls if it wasn't working, right. I wish someone out
there who's in that business would tell us, like, what's
your success rate, like one out of every fifteen thousand
calls gets a sucker And and are these legitimate businesses?

(02:20):
I mean, are there real cruises you can take? I don't.
I don't know, I know because I don't give them
a ton of time. Even on like email, I keep
getting the Amazon you you've been selected to get a
fifty dollar Amazon gift card? Got that the other day? Yeah,
we all get that are fake? How do you know? Now?
How do you know they're fake? I thought it could
be real because of all the money I spent time.

(02:41):
Why would Amazon be given out free gift cards? Though
it may it may be someone giving away Amazon gift card,
But my question is who's actually followed through. That's what
I want to I'm trying to figure out people. You
know what season we're in. Now, we're in the fake
I r S calls to your house? Because I've gotten
those four times. Now do you know they're fake? Because
the I R S has put out statements saying they

(03:02):
would never call your house. It's not how they contact me. Okay, good,
Well you get these calls that say this is the
I R S. You're in violation. Please call us now
and make an immediate payment. I got that too, Yeah,
were there between Now in April fifteenth, we're gonna be
a lot of those calls. If those calls are going
out to your point, that means one person has called
them back and given their information have been ripped off.
Someone has to do it otherwise to give up. That's

(03:22):
why LifeLock where life flock even talks about all of
these scams with the I R s pretending their I
R s getting your money. This is the season. Thank you, Brodie,
thanks for that warning. I've got nose calls and I've
called them out on and I go, do you does
the I R sit in a phone bank? Because you
hear the other calls talking to other people trying to
scam them, and they go, We're not in a phone bank.
Where where the I R S? I go, where's the

(03:42):
I R S located? Okay, here's another thing. You're looking
for a job. You need a job. Soone says we
need phone uh solicitors you go work for. You go
to and they go, okay, today you need to tell
them you work for the I R S. I mean
people actually go all right, today I will tell people
I work for the I R S. But you have
a whole building filled with people lying saying they're from

(04:03):
the I R S. And you tell your friends and
family you work for the government. Now, like I'm a
g man, like you gotta keep the lie up, I
work for the I R S. Or are there companies
that actually make you think you're working for the I
R S and you're not. We're actually subcontracted by the
I R S. I don't know how that crap works.
We needs you to be a prince from Abu Dhabi
and send out emails today about your fortune. They get

(04:23):
scripts and they sit down and they go over and
they practice, and they have somebody pretend to be the
the frustrated and obstinate person on the other end of
the line, and you've got to try harder to keep
them on. My favorite is when they call and they go, Hi, man,
speak to Danielle please, or Hi Danielle, and as if
they really know you, and I'm like, who's this Hi,
this is Molly, I'm calling you. Back to my point.

(04:45):
Let's say there's a whole floor with three d people
that have been told to lie and say they're all
from the I R S. That floor is filled with
the bunch of skankiest fuckers on the planet Earth. They're
all a bunch of liars, but it's a collection of
lie three hundred liars on one floor making fifteen bucks
an hour. Do you know they're cheating each other, like
stealing stuff from each other's purses. You know that the

(05:07):
car they drove to work today, they stole that car. There.
They're a bunch of scams. What if they ever called
each other like, Hi, I'm calling the I R. S. Mike,
is that you were off today? So my brother is
a police officer, and he got this call and this
this old lady answered her phone and it was somebody
scamming her. And unfortunately she actually gave the guy money

(05:27):
or gave Wired funds or something, so she called the
police and whatnot. So my brother had the number that
the guy used, right, so he called the number and
it was someplace in India or something, and he called
and asked questions and realized there's really nothing he could do.
So for the entire shift, for his entire eight hours,
he just kept calling the number and scamming them for

(05:48):
eight hours, calling this person in India and saying, hey,
you got a second of time. We reversed the in
reversed it to the point where they had to change
that number, and they hang up on you. So when
you start doing that, they get piste off and they
start hanging up on you as soon as they hear
your voice. What do you think? They hang up on
you and they look to their friend next to next
to them, the other scammer, and go, you know what,
we deserve this, We deserve for people to scam us

(06:09):
back because we're a bunch of assholes. I'm gonna call
the I R S people back and tell them they
want to free cruise, you should. I will say it
ruins it for the for the good ones, because um,
is there ever a good no? No, no, the other
no, no no no not the other day a couple of
weeks ago, actually, um, I got an email and it says, congratulations,
you have a one hundred dollar gift card for being

(06:31):
a Loyalist member, which is a member of Bloomingdale's. And
I'm like, huh, I don't remember ever signing up for
this whatever. So I almost threw the email away until
I did for the research, I googled it, and as
it turns out, because I spent money over the holidays
with Bloomingdale's. They put all this money in my account
and it was an actual gifts so and I almost
blew it. I was deleted. That goes back to my

(06:53):
original question, how many of these things are legit versus fake?
And you're right though, we could be throwing away a
lot of great free rips to Alaska. I mean, if
you do go on these trips and and you sit through,
like you know, those seminars that you to buy whatever
it is, you actually do get the free vacation. I mean,
you got to go to a five hour meeting about
the type share, right, but you do get the full

(07:15):
court press to sign those pap But if you've got
a Daniel, if you've got a phone call from a
company saying, please come to this warehouse and sit through
a four hour speech about a time share, would you go?
But if you did it in person, people do. But
but if you do it face to face, you're more
likely to go. Sit down. Know, when you're getting a
free cruise, you get a phone call from a stranger saying,
come to this abandoned place and we'll give you a

(07:37):
free trip. Abandoned met us at an abandoned meat packing
of factory at midnight, don't ask questions, So you know,
I do think about it. Maybe in smaller communities where
they have local newspapers, someone who is maybe retired and
wants to supplement their income, they get a they get
a job with the local newspaper to call people around

(07:57):
town to see if they want to subscribe to the paper.
And then people started abusing them, like a really nice
grandfather just makes some more money so you can have
little cash to spend for his grandkids for Christmas. Hi,
I'm Bobby Jones, and I'd like to see you crap.
And then the poor guy has a legitimate thing he's
trying to sell you, and he can't because we are

(08:18):
so so turned against anyone who calls our house. Now
you know what, Michael Oppenheimer goes, I actually did it.
I did. It was for my cold calling from my
university wherever you called alumni and asked for donations, right,
And it was just the most frustrating thing because you're
looking at the list, and I can tell you you're
looking at the list, and when they graduate, and they

(08:39):
graduated two years prior, I'm like, this person probably doesn't
even have a job. I'm asking them for five dollars
right now, So that would go through my head and
you would make the phone call. In the whole time,
I'm thinking this guy has no money, Like, I can't
ask this guy shake him down for five Mine comes
with the alumni directory, and that's where they got me.
They were like, would you like the Brooklyn College alumni

(09:00):
directory for this donation of so and stuff? Why do
you want that? Well, that's the thing. I'm like, Oh,
sounds like a plan. And I gave them like a
hundred bucks. And then three weeks later, the alumni directory
shows up in my mail. It's the size of a
freaking dictionary, and I'm like, what the hell am I
ever going to do with this? What did you think
about that before you order? The alumni director? Sounds like
you really need to get in touch with the other alumni.

(09:20):
Colleges are just like these scam calls. Because I've moved
twice since I've graduated college. They found me twice, both addresses.
I've never given them a single penny. Well, the thing is, Garrett,
they do believe that you had many, many great memories
formed in college, so there before you still have a bond. Therefore,
you've got money to spend on your Where do they
find me? Though? It's not like I'm saying, hey, alumni directory.

(09:41):
His money is still going towards Sun Director. It's got everybody.
I don't know why I bought it. They're all looking
at you up in Scary's alumni directory. Here's what really happened.
We should I give you a hundred dollars? Or can
I mention you on a podcast? Would they be value
in that Brooklyn college? Hey, a couple of things happened
on the show today. We need to address behind the

(10:01):
scenes stuff, and I kind of addressed one of these
a little bit on the air. Then we left it alone. Uh,
Dave Brody had today's phone tap and we went to
play it. It It was a great phone tap, and people
started texting and Brody, you're the best. You're the greatest
phone tapper ever. Brody and Scary you're great. Of course,
as you know if you listen to the Brooklyn Boys podcast,
it's Scary and Brody according to Scary and Brody and
Scary because I asked him to be on my podcast. Well,

(10:23):
so people were texting in praising your phone tap. Brody
and Scary was getting visibly disturbed. He was mad that
they liked your phone tap. I like good comedy, and
that was great common and it was awesome phone tap.
I'm not taking anything away from that. And you were
visibly upset. I was upset because people were going in
my face like brody and scary, Brodian and scary, because
they know that gets to me. That's the stuff that
gets to me, not the fact that they enjoyed its

(10:44):
phone tap. I'm okay with that didn't get to you.
And people say scary and brody. Oh, it's so infrequent
that it doesn't I don't even notice it. No, here's
the thing, much so far as to change our bios
online to reflect it. So you are upset. Scary and
I are friends for twenty years. We pick on each other.
We go back and forth with two p's in a pod.
One of us is a better pe. But that's besides

(11:06):
the point. See what I mean. If he does fantastic
phone taps, I'm a fan of the work he does.
I would hope he's a fan of the work I do,
as we are fans of Garrett and Danielle and everyone
else does phone taps. If people like that day, But
you know it is people text in best phone tap ever?
Every day, every day we talked, we called him in
Ever's right, Oh Daniel you got it ever because at
that moment, the last phone tap they heard is the

(11:27):
best one they've heard. So I appreciate the compliments as
mine is airing and as it it's fresh in their mind.
But tomorrow's could be Danielle or Scari's and they'll love
that one. So I appreciate the feedback. And everyone has
a favorite. Some people love Oppenheimer. Some people tweet me
to go, oh, Brody, I loved Oppenheimer. He's the best.
That's great. Well, Scary doesn't feel the same way. Scary's
very competitive. That's why it's competitive. Another thing that happened today,

(11:49):
of course, as you know, we had most of the
members of the Jersey shortcast with us, which was it
was great to see them. We haven't seen them, you know,
in our house in years. The last guy who came
in to see us with Vinny, he brought some his
mom's meatballs whatever. But anyway, they're so excited. Of course,
tonight you're listening to this on Thursday. It's Jursday tonight
on MTV. It's the premier of their new special, New

(12:11):
Vacation Special anyway, so it was great to see them.
And as an interviewer, as you all will agree, it's
difficult to interview five people at the same time because
they all have something to say. Yeah, and and but
I thought they did a pretty decent job. Was not
stepping all over each other and kind of helping each other.
A couple of times it was bad, but for the

(12:31):
most part it was they did a pretty decent job.
And you could tell how they have they've all matured
because they all had something to say. It was it
was more than just the basic stuff. They actually each
one of them has their have blossomed into their own
character and have their own personality. And what do you
look at and find it funny that for Snookie when
she got here, she had her clothes on backwards. She
had she had a romper on inside out. One of

(12:53):
our interns at a walker to the bathroom so she
could put it the right side. Sometimes you leave the
house with a backwards romper. Well, we do know, and
you guys were there that they had a big Jersey
shore party last night and a lot of them were
they're drinking. I mean as we were taking pictures with
them that they you could smell a little bit of
last night. It was lingering, and they stayed at the

(13:13):
hotel where the nightclub was as well, so they all
rolled it into bed and they probably rolled right out
of downtown. But then Mike the situation. You know, he's
been sober for about two years now, right, so he
had to deal with them not only last night party
and down, but in the house in Miami when they
were filming this, when they were producing it. So I
wonder how that was for him. You know, I know

(13:33):
how it is when I hang out with my friends
who were in the program and who are no longer drinking,
and you you want to protect him, you don't want
to drink near them, whatever, But they tell you know,
you're making me uncomfortable by not drinking around me, because
I know that you really want one. I was watching
him yesterday and he was just hanging out, he was
talking to people, he was occupying his time, and I
accidentally photo bombed him in a picture that he posted
on Instagram. I'm sitting there and I'm on my cell

(13:55):
phone in the background, and listeners found it. Hee, how
do you get a picture that that's got to be
looking at Mi the Situations on Instagram. I'm in the
background on my phone and people like I spy Scary
Jones photo bombing Mike the Situation's picture. That's hilarious. By
the way, Scary looks really good if you if you
go to Scary's Instagram story. He looked so nice last night,

(14:19):
dressed up to go Scary. He looked he did his
hair differently, his haired his hair, but it looked really good.
Scary d but he was taking selfies in the back
of the cab he was in. It just seems a
little He knew he was happy with his looks, so
he wanted to We're almost we're almost out of time
when we end this show. Can we promise we're all

(14:41):
going to come back in ten years and have a
reunion show in Miami. I don't know about. Lets do
it about? Daniel is not committed to that. I'll be
able to move my face. Fifteen minute Morning Show
