Speaker 1 (00:02):
What would you talk about on your on your podcast
first minute Morning Show. All right, here we go, fifteen minutes.
We've got fifteen minutes. All right, in the world of
what we do, fifteen minutes is a long time to fill.
Oh my god. If they said you've got three minutes,
(00:23):
you'll be like, oh, thank god. Anyway, So Danielle is
here at the fifteen minute Morning Show podcast. Dave Brody's
piste off at something. We'll get into that in a minute.
Scary Jones is here, and our special guest, Honey German. Hello, Hello, Hello.
We love it when Honey comes comes out to play.
I love hanging with a Seriously, you know, what can
we tell in case you don't know who Honey is
or you're not familiar with her on our side of
(00:45):
the building, Honey, I don't even well. I could sit
here and read the list of things you do here
at the I Heart Building, but I'd rather talk about
how you make me feel. That's that's even more better.
I'll tell you this, Honey, your herman. It was all
dressed up for Grammy Weekend and she posted a picture
on Instagram and I got a little tear in my eye.
(01:06):
I'm like she looks like she is ready to own
New York City. And I sent her a text. She's like,
who is it? Who? New number? Who it is new phone? Listen?
I was the last thing I thought in my entire
existence is that you would even have my phone number. Nevertheless,
sent me such a beautiful text message. My own family
(01:27):
doesn't send me messages like this. Okay, let's talk about it.
First of all, tell everyone what you do this. Let's
get that out of the way, because it's very important
people know where you're coming. Okay. I work at Power
one oh five one. I'm the music coordinator. I'm also
on air, but most importantly, I love to spill the
t Celebrity news is my thing, and it's been my
thing since I first decided I want to be in media.
So just doing celebrity gossip, that's where my soul is.
(01:51):
All the other stuff is just my jobs. And She's
always covering stories on her Instagram and Honey is on it.
And even though you come from in the building hip
hop world, you cover all celebrities. I do because I
feel like I'm already like kind of like solidified in
the hip hop urban environment. So I'm like, Okay, nobody's
gonna question me over there and if I want to
(02:11):
go work over at over at Z or anything. I
don't want nobody to be like, you don't know our people.
I know everybody, right, So I make sure I cover
the likes of Lindsay Lowyam Paris Hilton. Sometimes I have
a love hate relationship with everyone does. But I gotta
make sure I'm well rounded. You can take me anywhere.
But but honey, so for someone who is so into
(02:32):
pop culture and entertainment, whatever, when the Grammys come to
New York City, you decided you're gonna You bought a
gorgeous dress, you were made up, you look so beautiful,
and you were going out to the parties and stuff.
What's it like living this life where you look? You know,
if several years ago you were just trying to you know,
you were actually working in another field you were. I
(02:52):
was getting ready to go to law school, and I
was like, listen, I love radio, I love media. I'm
going to give this a chance. I took a huge
pet cut and I came to my heart. The was
like every week, so I made the change. It feels
surreal sometimes, you know, even when I see people and
They're like, oh, I know who you are. I'm like,
I used to work at a law firm pushing papers.
Now all of a sudden, I'm going at Grammy parties.
(03:14):
I'm getting invites. They're like, do you want to do
the carpet? I'm like me, I'm looking around. It's like
it doesn't even feel real yet. Sometimes I'm in places
and I feel like people are gonna come up to
me and but like, are you supposed to be here?
And then I'm like, hell, yeah, I'm on that list. Well,
this year must have been really really cool for really,
you were out and about and I think what I
said was, you are so so perfect. You're gonna go
out on this town and everyone around you was going
(03:36):
to glow because of your life. To me, it will seriously, So,
how how was your Grammy experience in New York? It
was amazing. Everybody was out here, Celebrities were everywhere. You know,
you walk past, You're like, oh hey, hi, you start
waving at you be like, Carty, what up girl? You know,
let's let's exchange we tips. Come, come, come, I have extensions.
On that day, I was amped. You know, the dress
(03:56):
was only a six dollar dress. I know, it looked
good and everything, but so it was a million dollar address,
but everywhere I went it was just dope. Just even
having your name on the list, being allowed in the building,
you know, just being embraced the way that everyone from
the celebrities to other media personalities that have been around,
you know for a long time. It's just amazing. It
is when you worked at the law firm, be honest,
you you love gossip, right, you know, were you involved
(04:17):
in office gossip? Well, you're doing your current job that
we like, did you see who Mark was having lunch with?
You know what? Not really, because I always try to
keep like that side of my life private because I
never wanted everyone to anyone to try to check my
computer records. That was like my secret life. So I
didn't want I t and these people to be like,
she's on the profressed Hilton, she's on us weekly. So
(04:37):
I never really told anyone what I did until I
got really comfortable with them. But my lunch breaks, I
would go like in a private office and just blog.
You know, there's so many people that are in a
job that they're not happy with right now, and they
maybe they want to reinvent themselves. So how did you
make that jump? What did you do? What? What came
over you? And was what the pay cut first of all,
(04:58):
has got to make you go. I don't know, so
how did how did you get through all that? What
I did was I cordined my husband and I told him, listen,
you married me, you took me off the market. You're
gonna have to hold down these bills for a year.
Let me pursue my dreams. If in one year I'm
not making money, I'm not making progress, then I'll go
back to the legal field. I'll go to law school
(05:18):
and we'll both contribute equal amounts. You have a partner helping.
He was super solid, and he was like, listen, I
got you. I'd rather you be happy and go pursue
this dream than be home and miserable every time you
come home from a law from what a guy is
he available? Because times that's true though, Daniel, your husband
is very very successful at what he does and what
(05:38):
he does, you can easily go do whatever you want
and just leave us behind. Very true. I'm thinking about
I'm kidding, you're stuck with me. Sorry, I was going
to say that that is so true that so many
times taking a pay cut is so worth it if
you are that miserable, because it's not always about the money. Yes,
(05:59):
we have to pay bills, but sometimes just your sanity
in itself is worth everything. Well, you know, I used
to work in retail managing retail stores and malls and
Starbucks and Starbucks and restaurants, and I quit completely and
came to work at this morning show for free for
almost I say, almost a year. You didn't getting paid
for a year. And by the way, I'm we're not
(06:20):
saying that you were miserable with the law firm, but
but this wasn't really my thing. This was your passion.
It was my passion. And I feel like this is
the best decision I've ever made in my life. This
and my breast reduction the two best reasons, the best
best decision. Three, it's important to have that support system.
Then that's great. Your husband whoa whoa what support up
(06:45):
from a partnership thing, because guess what, he gets something
out of it too, and that's a happy partner. Plus
he does digging my bank account now he but like,
we need a new couch, and you're gonna pay for
it because now now we've gotten back to where I
was plus much more right, which is a blessing to
have done in three years. Right. So, Honey German, Uh,
(07:07):
I'm so happy that you're hanging out with us on
the fifteen minute Morning Show podcast. We're not done. We're
gonna talk about some other stuff here. But also if
you're watching our after Elvis specials every day that we
do on Facebook, watch, Honey's going to be sitting in
with us today or tomorrow or one of these days.
I don't know. Getting where are you guys going? We
were just summing to the programming meeting that happening you're
supposed to talk to us about while you're piste off
(07:29):
day Broke Dave Brody. No one bitches and moans better
than Dave Brodie? Did you get a paycheck? Okay? So
one day he's really his podcast is all about him
just being piste off of the Brooklyn Boys podcast when
you're mentioning brod and scary so um web girl Kathleen
is not here today. She usually takes the pictures on
her nice d S DSLR camera, really nice camera, so
(07:52):
when she's not here we have to use her own phones. Hull,
Can I say it was a picture of Yeah, Jimmy Fallon,
who I you know, he's one of my He's on
the top of the pyramid, and so it's a big
deal to get a picture with him because I love him.
And so Scotty said, I'll use your camera and I'll
take a picture of you. I said, Scotty, you keep
messing up my celebrity photos. He was, I'll get it
right this time. You can trust me. Those are important, yes,
(08:14):
So he took four pictures. They're all at an angle.
One Jimmy's about to say something, so he's like like,
and then one where I'm looking at Jimmy because he
was talking and one where I wasn't smiling yet. He
doesn't know the one to three or the three to one,
so he just goes, okay, boom boom boom. So your
only opportunity to take a good picture with Jimmy foundly
you look like a schmuck. It looks like he was
hanging from the ceiling and swinging as he took the picture.
(08:37):
So we need to have Jimmy back on so I
can get a better picture. He'll talk him downstairs. He's
probably walking out. He's great, he's awesome. All right, get
out of here, thank you. That's how you have pe
I have planned a bit about and he'll probably get
something free after he bitches about it. That's Do you
have your Amazon on your phone? Um, what do you mean, Alexa?
Alexe's on my phone? You order Amazon on your we'd
(09:00):
discovered something this morning that was hilarious. What you can
actually go back to through your orders and you can
see the very first thing you ordered from whatever in life.
I don't even want to see what this. Come on,
I'll tell you mine. It's embarrassing. What was it? And
it was in two thousand eight, December Christmas Eve of
(09:20):
two thousand You were on Amazon in two thousand eight.
Keep in mind they hadn't been around that long, priming
his presence. It was It was not a gay porn okay,
it was a documentary where they interviewed gay porn stars.
Because a friend of mine who has since passed, was
interviewed on it and I ordered it. That was the
first thing. It was called like hot guys, amazing friend though,
(09:42):
because you were like, I'm buying this, I'm not bootlegging,
I'm not telling from Amazon that money. It was awesome.
So that was the first thing I ever bought on Amazon.
Scary's first thing was like condom, condoms, codas on Amazon.
How embarrassed is he to go to the store, That's what?
And I'm guaranteed he still has those things he gets
(10:02):
no accident. I dare you hold on? Can you do it?
You can actually do orders your order history, and then
you can push the year and it goes back to
the very first one. And you can also find out
how much you have spent on Amazon. I don't think
I asked Amazon to tell me how much. So you
go to your orders. I'm doing it right now. I
(10:24):
asked Amazon to tell me how much I've spent since
I started. It's still calculating. Go to filter orders, okay,
and then go all the way down to the first year.
You never I don't even know what this is going
to be. I'm actually you can read it before you
read it out loud. We're not gonna okay, it's not
that bad. It's not that bad. I actually bought a
book and it was called Hot to Marraw by Mary Castello.
(10:45):
You remember reading it? No, I don't owning it. I
wonder what it's about. I don't know. Let me go
in here and see what this is about. Definitely looks
like a single girl situation right here? Was it? Do
you remember? This was actually in two thousand and five,
November twenty three, And where were you in life in
two thousand five? Were you single? I was? I know,
(11:05):
I've been with my husband, but you know, not in
a serious relationship. He wouldn't commit to me for very
very long. So that's why you ordered this book and
I ordered two books, and I order also Friday Night Chicas.
Oh that was just like they're all They're both from novels.
So it looks as though I was into reading back then.
That's good. And Amazon was really about books, it was
(11:26):
about That's how I used Amazon at the beginning of
my life. Now I buy everything everything. Yeah, if I
always say, if it's not on Amazon, do you really
need it? And not really, you should do an ad
for them. I know, I know, I have a I
have a smiley box waiting for me at the house
right now. My boxes. Did you see Cardi in the
new Amazon commercial? Absolutely amazing. You know, Alexa gets a
(11:48):
sore throw. It just came out yesterday as a Super
Bowl commercial and they have different people filling in. Yes,
exactly what it is hilarious. Well, they're like, you know,
Alexa six, she has a or throat. So then they
start showing different celebrities. You know, Um, they have like
a celebrity chef, they have Rebel Wilson, and then they
have Cardi B. And the guys like, um, Cardi B,
(12:08):
how long does it take to get to Mars? And
she's like, he wants to go to Mars. You can't
even breathe in Mars. It's a hilarious commercial. You guys
definitely got a peep. Hey, we've been asking others. I'll
ask you about this Cardi B. Of course, as you
know you read she said that she actually feels she
was a little happier before she had the money and
the fame, like three years ago. I can see it.
(12:30):
You know, Cardi was very free. I followed Cardi since
she was a stripper just because of her rants, her craziness.
You know, my husband would be like this, girls, why
are you watching us? She's really crazy. She was free.
She did whatever she wanted, she wore whatever, she she ate,
what she wanted. She wasn't being ushered all over the world.
She was like in the Bronx just being regular devilish
slaglow whatever the house, she says. And now it's a
(12:53):
totally different lifestyle. And she didn't even have time to
adapt to this lifestyle. She went from like Stripper Pole
to the Grammys in the course of a year and
a half. There was no build up. And I can
see why she feels this way. Now her life is
under a microscope, every single thing she does. We were
talking about this on the radio show this morning, and
we had people and I predicted it. What happened. People
were texting and texting and going, oh, you're rich and famous,
(13:15):
poor you well, you know, And I would have agreed
with them before working here and seeing firsthand some of
the celebrities that actually come in and off the records
say I don't trust anybody. I don't know if people
like me for me or for and so it there
is a price to pay. Everyone who's everyone who was
around her before when she was probably living in some tenements,
(13:36):
was genuinely a Cardi B lover, supporter, a family member.
Now everybody's hanger on exactly. Well, think back, think back
to your first job when you're making whatever an hour,
and how you looked at life then versus now. Look,
we all have to mature, we all have to grow up,
we all have to become responsible. I get that, But
I remember my first full time radio job. I was
(13:57):
making like ten tho dollars a year here, and I
thought that was like crazy money. But but I was
you know, I was evicted from my apartment every month
or whatever. The lights were shut off. But but I
don't recall being sad about any of it. I don't
recall being depressed about any of it. It was a
great life. And then with responsibilities. Good God, you have kids.
(14:18):
Oh yeah, forget us at LISTA, remember to feed him.
I don't know. Happiness means different things, does yeah? But
I get Cardie. I can see they're trying to change everything.
How she talks, how she walks. That's not good. But
what made her famous. She's famous because she is who
she is. But you know, they're going to try to
groom you right now. They're going to try to remember.
(14:38):
Jessica Simpson came up here once and this was when
she was wearing her Daisy Dukes back in the day,
and she was like a skinny stick. And I remember
her saying, I'm so miserable to make mebe on the
Zatkins Diet. All I want to do is sing my
damn songs like why don't I have to look this way?
She was not happy. I could say German, honey, thanks
for coming in today, Thanks for having Daniel fifteen minute
(14:59):
morning show
