Speaker 1 (00:01):
Today's Daily Highlight from Elvis Duran in the Morning Show.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
You know what, I don't know if you want to
use your friend's name, Gandhi, Okay, but can I just
say I don't want to use the word jealous, envious.
I don't know. Your friend recently just upended everything. Oh yeah,
she quit her job, she moved, broke up with her boyfriend.
I mean, what brought all this on? What made her

(00:26):
push the reset button?

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Man? It was I think it was a long time coming.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
She sort of fell into this rut and she wasn't
happy with any aspect of her life. She wasn't happy
with the relationship, she didn't like what was going on
with work, she didn't like where she was living. She
just one day up and decided I'm done and got
rid of all of it at the same time, and
she has started a completely new life all over again.
And I am so proud of her. I know it
takes so much to do any one of those things. Yeah,

(00:52):
let alone all three at the same time. So to you,
my friend, I love you.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
We'll call her b Okay.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
So quit her job, she moved to a new town,
new city.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Wow, I mean, does she have a job before she
went there. I mean, she.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Still doesn't have a job.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
She's like, I'm figuring it out right now. She negotiated
a little package with the company that she was with,
so she has a few months to figure out what's
going on, and she's working on something. She said she
has some ideas, but she's just super excited and I
love that for her.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
She's not scared at all.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
She said she was more fearful of actually taking the plunge,
and now that she's done it, she's like, it's the
best thing that's ever happened. Weights lifted, I feel like
a new person.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (01:35):
She didn't like, have a different name, a different identity,
die your hair.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Yep, you know what I mean, Like everything could be different.
The only thing that has carried through was the dog.
She took the dog.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Okay, you can't leave the dogs. Dogs are good. You
can't leave the dog. Uh Man's cow old.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
She is she's thirty six, Okay, yeah wow, and just
said screw it all, I'm moving on.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
So you're saying she was a little scared about making
the leap. M I guess it's easier for me to
say because I'm not in her position. You should be
more scared not taking the leap totally.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
And that's when we were talking about it, I said
the same thing. I was like, you know, the most
terrifying thing would be to be stuck in a life
that you hate every aspect of as opposed to just
taking the leap and figuring it out for yourself, because
you'll fall into something that you appreciate and you like,
and you're making your own rules now and you're not
you know, sacrificing your happiness for other people and other things.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Wow, okay, so cool.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
When she told me this, I almost I screamed. It
was amazing. I was so happy for her.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
So was this a long time in the works or
does she just one day woke up and said, no, no,
everything has to be reset everything.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
See had been toiling it with it for a while,
like she would send some of us a breakup text
like hey do you think this one works?

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Hey?

Speaker 3 (02:50):
How should I word it differently? And then I don't
know what happened, But one day she was just like,
that's it and she did all of it.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Wow. No, no, just ripped it. It's gonna be of course,
it is a lot different if you have kids involved.
Or there's you know, other things that you've got to
be paying attention to, which are of paramount importance. I
get that, but if you're thirty six years old, a
lot of people would say, Oh no, I'm already thirty six.
It is I waited too long in my life to

(03:18):
push a reset button. No, not at all, she said.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
She's not even happier with you know, old I am.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
I turned the big old, I turned the big six. Oh,
I'm ready to turn it all off and run like
hell my everybody, wait, wait, wait, wait, nope, there's no waiting.
I'm taking my dogs and I'm leaving. I'm leaving town.
But uh yeah, you find yourself in life in a rut,

(03:46):
and you're in that ditch like, well, how do I
get out of this ditch? Well, you know what. You
got to get out of the ditch. But only you
can do it. You have to make the decisions. You
have to make the hard decisions, the decisions that are
challenging and frightening. But no one else can do it.
No one else is going to do it. You have
to do it. What are you waiting for?

Speaker 1 (04:05):
She said?

Speaker 3 (04:06):
She thought about what we talk about all the time.
You cannot control other people or other circumstances in your life.
You can only control yourself. And she said she was
the common denominator and all of the things that she
didn't like. So she did what she could in her
control and she changed it.

Speaker 6 (04:21):
And I love it.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
I'm so happy for her.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
What scary?

Speaker 4 (04:25):
So what if you're in a ditch you want to
flip the switch and start over like your friend did,
but you're financially strapped and you're like find But what
if the financial thing is the only thing that is
holding you back from doing that? Because I know some
people that want to hit the reset button on a
lot of things in life, but but they're being held
back by economics.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
You gotta find a way.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
Only fans, hello, I take your shoes off to.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Do what you gotta do.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
But like, no, I know a lot of people who
really are Yeah, they want to start over, but they can't.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Like easier said than done, Well, no you can. You
know it's easy for us to say you can, but
you can't. There is a way. It may be it
may break your back, you may have to work two jobs,
you may have to work around the clock and to
save the money. I mean, no, but if you have
that goal in mind, you will find a way. And
if anyone says, well yeah, yeah, yeah, dare you say that,
and well, no, I'm saying it.

Speaker 7 (05:15):
You don't.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Gary V was in once a long time ago talking
about this. He's said, people come to have all the time.
Gary V, I want to be successful, but I'm stuck
in doing this. He said, You're not stuck in anything.
You continue your work, you continue your job, but you
do the side hustle. You figure it out. It's going
to take time, it's going to take a mountain of sacrifice.
You can do it, don't let don't talk yourself out

(05:37):
of it.

Speaker 7 (05:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
So if I sit here and say, well it's a
financial thing, well, y all know that that's a major thing.
That is a problem. But you know what, what problem
cannot be solved, You got to figure out how to
solve that problem. It takes time. Everyone expects everything to
be fixed overnight. You can't. You can't look at life
like that. Sometimes problems, challenges, it takes it could take

(05:58):
a year. But the thing is is during that year
or two years, you always keep your eye on the
end result. You always do. You never let it go.

Speaker 5 (06:06):
And sometimes it's not that easy either, Like, sometimes you
think you've fixed it, but you run the complications along
the way and you have to deal with those. So
everything is not gonna be said and done just like that.
You just gotta work at it.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
I also think too, like the regret of making a
mistake seems a little lighter than the regret of always
wondering what would have happened if, Like, at least you
have an answer and you can start over with knowledge
of something, whereas if you never take a chance, you're
never gonna know.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
You're always gonna wonder what if.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Yeah, it is drastic, though, you know what these things
are drastic. You're like, you may have a lot of
friends and family members saying, are you crazy? What are
you doing? I remember when I started in radio, My
dad is like, what are you doing? I said, dad,
And this is I had like a part time job,
no insurance, so you kind of you need a job
with insurance before No, I don't want a job with insurance.

(06:55):
I want a job that makes me happy and satisfied.
The insurance will come. Yeah, you know that.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
Happened with me too with this job.

Speaker 5 (07:02):
Right, So I got the job I was making four
to twenty five an hour out right out of college.
And my mother kept saying, you need to quit. She
was like, you need to find something else, blah blah blah,
and I kept saying, no, I'm going to stick it out.
If something good's going to happen, I know it, I
know it, I know it. And she was just like, okay,
And so you know if I had listened, then we
wouldn't be where we are.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
Said exact thing, Danielle.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
You gotta quit that job. It costs you more to
go to work than you are making it a prey.

Speaker 5 (07:30):
There were days where I'd pay to go to work
and I would pay for parking and whatever. They weren't
paying for it.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
Yeah, I wasn't making anything they were. I was paying
them to work here.

Speaker 6 (07:40):
And look at you, now, Yeah, what's that prob I've
learned this as a parent. And when you want somebody
to do something, they might do it, but they won't
do it to the extent that when they want it,
And when you want something bad enough for yourself, you
won't be able to be stopped. No matter what anybody said,
no matter what obstacle comes up, no matter what it takes,

(08:03):
you will find a way to do it if it's
what you want. And so that's truely what it comes
down to.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
You know, you can easily say, well, this is what
I do professionally, this is all I know, and I
have to do this. But unfortunately the job sector I'm
working in is deteriorating. It's just evaporating. And well then
you got to go do something you don't know, you know,
that's the whole point of this Loretta line twenty she said,
enough is enough. I'm moving to Costa Rica. I'm taking
the family. Yeah, congratulations on taking a family, Loretta. What

(08:32):
made you decide? Okay, Costa Rica because a lot of
Americans do this, they love going down there.

Speaker 7 (08:38):
Well, I'm not American. I'm British. You guys know me.
I'm the ginger teat lady.

Speaker 5 (08:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
Oh hello, So you're moving, you're picking up, You're moving
to Costa Rico. Now what made you decide to make
the change.

Speaker 7 (08:49):
Well, the terrifying events of twenty twenty in America really
opened up the eyes of a lot of US Brits.
And the violence, the gun violence for crazy politics, really,
I mean, scary nose Costa Rica. There's no gun violence.
There's no military, they have no army.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
They spend the money they would spend on an army
on education. Yeah. No, I've been there several times. I
love Costa Rica. It is fascinating. And every time here
you visit, you're like, let's look at real estate. I'm
going to find an apartment. So when are you moving?

Speaker 7 (09:26):
We're moving middle of August.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
That's tomorrow.

Speaker 6 (09:30):
Years ago.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
Congratulations, we just sold our house.

Speaker 7 (09:33):
Our house went on the market. It's sold within a week.
So yeah, we've got no choice. We're going. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:39):
Are you a little like well, like a scary type
of excitement going on and stirring in your stomach? Are
you what are you thinking? What are you feeling?

Speaker 7 (09:48):
I'm terrified, but I think I might at some point
when I've met you guys, show you one of my tattoos.
It says, face the fear and do it anyway. I
you know, being from England, born in London, but I
come from a culture of people that immigrate my family
and Nigeria. Obviously I moved from London to here nearly
twenty years ago. It's you know, it's not the most

(10:09):
abnormal thing to do. It's terrifying, absolutely, and with children
you have to be very, very conciouzant about what their
needs are. So we're choosing a specific place in Costa
Rica that will sort of take care of their extra
curricular needs, take care of their school, make sure they're
going to have friends. My husband and I we can,
you know, we can go to the coast every weekend
and make sure we get beach time. But really the

(10:31):
most important thing is making sure that our children's mental
health is taken care of.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
Wow, I got it. Adopt me please, I'm on the way.
Thank well, Loretta. It's bittersweet and saying congratulations, but you know,
knowing that you're not here anymore. But you can listen
to us Costa Rica. Well, I think we're number three
rated morning show in Costa Rica. You know, well listen,
I have a wonderful time in Congratulations and yeah again,

(11:00):
be more afraid of not making a change than making
the change. Congratulations you and that tattoo. It means a
lot to read that tattoo to me one more.

Speaker 7 (11:08):
Time, face the fear and do it anyway.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
There you go, all right, all right, thank you, Loretta,
and god speed, much love to do your family.

Speaker 7 (11:18):
You know, all of you take your test Thank you Danielle,
thank you guys, Thank.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
You Loretta, have a wonderful life.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
My heart, ginger Tea is amazing.
