Speaker 1 (00:00):
These Benz Interview Lounge.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
Oh our first car reference Mercedes Benz down the hall
at the Breakfast club. DJ envys there every day making magic,
but sometimes he leaves the cage and goes out on
the road.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
Was a dj VY car show. That's right? How fun?
It's a lot of fun. It's it's the sixth annual.
We go from city to city and it's like a
moving circus, so we bring everything to every city. So
it's rides, it's games, it's BMX exhibitions. There's so many
different things that we bring from city to city.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Are there animals?
Speaker 2 (00:29):
No animals, No animals at the foundation though, it's cars. Yes,
What what got you so interested in cars? I it
was this a childhood thing?
Speaker 1 (00:37):
Or yeah, this was a childhood thing. Growing up in Queens,
New York. You just you would see everybody driving cars, right.
You would see the drug dealers, the doctors, the attorneys,
and they would drive these nice cars. And I couldn't
afford them. My dad is a retired police officer. We
couldn't afford them. So when I started doing music and
I could afford him, I started buying all the old
cars that I couldn't get as a kid, and it
just became a habit. And my dad was like, well,
(00:58):
you're gonna go broke if you don't make some thing
that you can actually make money off these cars. And
I started doing the car shows. Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
So I would think growing up in Queens or Brooklyn
or any of the Burroughs, your house looks like the
house next door, like the house next door. Your individuality
came from your car. Correct, That's what I am, my
car people. That's why cars are so important to people,
because they feel cars are the inextension of who they are.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Correct, right, yep. For instance, Gandhi remember that Kia used
to drive that. Oh yeah, the Saturn. I had a
Saturn first put together. It's held together with electric tape.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
No, it wasn't even held together. It was terrible and
it was like after Saturn stopped existing. It was my
first car wouldn't start.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
So you can't fix it or nothing.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
I mean I could, I just didn't because I was
very poor. And then the second car after that I
got was a Kia and I thought I was bowling
it was so cool. And now I don't have a car,
So what does that say about me?
Speaker 1 (01:50):
You need a car? How many cars do you have
now personally, probably about seventeen eighteen cars.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
Wait, you don't keep them all at the house.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
No, I have a warehouse where I keep the car
and everything. They're stacked up in the front yard.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
Well wait, you know what I love At his car shows.
Celebrities will say, hey, you can show my car.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
Like I know he had fifty cents. Comes, yes, So
celebrities give me their car. So when this car show
this weekend. Cardi B's given me her car fifty cent,
has given me his car, Offset French Montana, a Boogie,
a bunch of artists. Michael Shurehan has given me his
cars before. I've got a ram truck you can put
in there. I don't know if that considered special enough
for the car show. But we can park it outside. Wait,
(02:32):
this is the second car, the second car we've offered.
You park it outside?
Speaker 5 (02:37):
Yeah? Not worthy?
Speaker 3 (02:38):
What qualifies a car to be in your car show?
What makes it special?
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Just something outside of the box. Right. So my first
car was a nineteen eighty eight Honda of Call eighty
six Hundre Record with flip up lights. It was blue.
It had closed interior roll up windows, but I put
rims on it. I put little lights on it. It
was my car special to me. So that's something that
we would love to see in the car show because
it's outside the box. But if you just have a
regular pickup like a Saturday, we just sit up anymore.
(03:03):
All Right, it's a ram. Hello, it's a fifteen hundred
for my favorite. See, that's the same room.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
They're all sold out.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Look, I love cars, and look, you know, I think
you get to a point sometimes in your life or
career where you know, I could I go to the
auto show and they have the New York Callers Show. Yeah,
you know what they say, you auto go to the
auto Show. Yes, every car in the world is there,
and I mean cars up to ten million dollars a car.
And every time I leave that place, it's usually the
(03:31):
pres is what I want. I don't have that that
sexy urge for a sexy car.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
I just don't we have. See you gotta drive it.
Like cars are different, the way they drive, the way
they handle. Talk about that.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
I mean, it's like a woman. It's it's like, yes,
it's a relationship. It's a relationship.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
So you know the best thing about working so early
in the morning is is nothing on the road in
the morning, so I can drive, I can cruise, I
can speed a little if I need to, and I
can really enjoy the show the car. There is nobody calling,
My kids aren't calling, so I really enjoy this the car.
And I drive a different car every day.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
Do you drive all your cars?
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Yes? I do, absolutely, positively, yes every day.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
Okay, I see you driving these cars in the sitting Dude,
he has a spot. I would never drive that car
in the city.
Speaker 5 (04:13):
I have to apologize to you because you do drive
a car, a different car every single day, right, yes,
and a lot of we park in the same barage. Right.
So I'm in the red light. There's this car in
front of me, like turns green. He's not going and
it was Envy. So I would not have honked at
you had I noticed this car.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
I don't care. If it's Jesus, you can get out
of the way.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
I gotta get You're who I gave the fingers exactly.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
You know what I'm loving. I love art on cars.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
You go to an incredible car show like the Envy
Car Show, where you have a beautiful car, and someone said,
you know what we should do, Let's get a great
artist to turn this into the most incredible expensive canvas. Yes, right,
and so a lot of people will go, oh my god,
that car is ruined for life. Well, no, paint jobs
are paint jobs. It's not the original though, correct, So
(05:04):
talk about that. I've done that one time with King Saladeen.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
Yes. King Saladin is an artist from Philly, and I
had this Porsch it's called a Carever GT. Is actually
the not the same car, but the type of car
that Paul Walker passed it. Uh, it's a it's a
million dollar car. And King Saladeen he did his artwork
all over the car. And so when that brush hit
the car, didn't you have like a second like, oh god,
(05:29):
what am I doing? No? And I'm gonna tell you why
does that downgrade the car up?
Speaker 5 (05:33):
No?
Speaker 1 (05:33):
Because what I actually did was it is I actually
wrapped the car first and clear so so I could
take it off. Son't mess up the actual paint of
the car. But little car con Yeah, yeah, a little
car con. But people loved it because they just loved
the artwork. They love seeing it. And then when we
were tired of it, we just see that's cheating. You
got you gotta paint the thing. Now, I'm not going
out for I can't read that name. What does it say?
(05:55):
I'm totally blind? Ask him about a cyber truck.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Oh, can we talk about that now? Do you get
as much oohs and ahs as you do people going,
I don't know that the cyber truck has it's polarizing
with people's opinion.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Well, the cyber truck is the one car that I
have that It doesn't matter if you're young, if you're old,
if you're black, if you're white, if you're Asian, doesn't
matter who you are. People want to take picture of
that car. That car gets more pictures than any lambou Ferrari,
any car that I've ever owned. They love that side
because it's a trash can with four wheels. It really is.
But it drives smooth. It don't get matter. And I
(06:30):
know Dan Yellow over here, she she crashes into everything.
Itself driving, so shit, this is one thing that she
can drive with. She won't crash because it drives for us,
so she would be safe. I've heard you drive. I
mean they told me. They told me driving crash into
Paul cars. They told me you crashed into strollers, everything.
Two times. Let me tell you the one story.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
Three times, not including the priest, was that the Bronx
Zoo doing an appearance, she.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
Hit an elephant. No, an elephant.
Speaker 5 (07:00):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
When I came out of the zoo, I couldn't find
my car. Somebody had crashed into my car.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
While I was in the zoo.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
It was didn't even look like my car anymore. And
they left and there was my car, and they're all
blaming me. I did not do it. I mean, it
was somebody else in the parking lot.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
I don't know if you know, but the whole building knows.
When you're driving the block to.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
Get out the way that's behind the you should be
driving your car at the wrong suit.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
I didn't in the Okay, all right, are we gonna
yelled at it? You have to go back. There's people yelling.
What is going on?
Speaker 3 (07:30):
I can never tell what people are trying to say.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
What, what's the wrong? Does he have to leave? Well pictures?
Why are you dunk like that? What's going on? Cas?
All right?
Speaker 2 (07:40):
So everyone, well most people listening to us are listening
in their car right now, and everyone has a relationship
with their car, and it's like, oh my god, thank
God it started today, or man, this is where I
go to get away, This is where I go to
have my time, like you talk about yours. But when
you look at a car as if it is a
rolling piece of art, it is. It is artwork, without doubt.
(08:01):
And some of these calls, these artists especially I see,
I love Italian cars. I love old old Italian cars,
the lines, the curves, you know, and some British cars
I love that can't get them started, but they're really
great to look at, right right. What is it about
a car that really gets your blood pumping?
Speaker 1 (08:21):
I think for myself it's a little bit of everything.
Like you know, people are into certain things. Women some
women are into their bags and their shoes. For myself
is the way the car drives, the way it handles,
the way it sits, the way it makes you feel.
You ever get in your car and you just cruising
and you're going slow and the wind is, you know,
smacking you in the face, you just love it. That's
the one thing about cars, whether it's American muscle and
(08:41):
the designs of the American muscle, or it's the old
Italian Ferrari's, the old Italian cars, the way that they sit.
The way that they drive is nothing like it. And
if you purchase cars the right way, they are an
investment because they will keep going up in value. So
I just I really just love the feeling of cars,
and I think it's inspiration too. It's in the car.
We like to put kids sometimes in those cars that
(09:02):
they would never have an opportunity to sit in. There
you go, you know, like you know, what we do
is like we'll put a kid in fifties Lambeau and say,
you know, this is a Lamborghini that might be his
first Lamborghini, but to him, he's like, when I get
old enough, I want to work hard so I can
purchase that and I can buy one. And that's what
we try to do. We try to give kids inspiration.
So one thing about the car shows, well, you know
I have six kids, so I would take my kids
to car shows and after ten minutes they'd be like that,
(09:23):
I want to leave, like I've seen one car seeing
them all. So what we did was we did it
where we made put rides and amusement, obstacle courses, face
painting and stuff for kids. Well, your kids will want
to stay a lot longer so you can enjoy the
car show a lot longer. Then we have a bar
for the adults. But we have all types of things.
We have BMX exhibitions, so you know the BMX bikes.
(09:43):
They do the flip and tricks for the kids. So
it's like a full day of fun. It's family fun.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
That's the thing about a car My dad always I
was at My dad had a lot of cars, and
so I always asked why they keep me moving? And
I never really understood what that meant until later in
his life.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
So, okay, the DJ Envy Car Show, talking about it.
It's happening this Saturday.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
It's this Saturday at the middle Lands Expo Center, brought
to you by our friends at Lincoln Tech and salute
to Tina. Today's Teena's birthday. Every birthday, Tina. But it's
a little bit of everything. It's of course, there's great foods.
We have food trucks. Every car that you could possibly
imagine that you're into. If you're into American muscle, if
you're into exotics, if you're into old schools, if you're
into tuna, any type of car that you love will
(10:26):
be there. And then bring the kids, bring your grandparents,
will have rides, will have jumpies, We'll have obstacle courses,
gaming trucks, food trucks, face painting, a bar for the dose,
like I said, And there's so many there, and we're
gonna do a lot of giveaways. Two families or two
people in there are gonna leave with two year leases
that two great car dealerships in the Tri state area
are given somebody a two year lease where they don't
(10:48):
have to pay for anything but your insurance. But you
do have to get approved, so you can't come with
zero credit scording like I'm taking. You still have to
have you know, you still got to get approved. But
they're taking care of every day. There's fine print, come print.
But there's a lot that we're doing and we can't wait.
We do this each and every year and it's just
like a huge family reunion. It's safe. It's just an
environment where it's just car people can just relax with
(11:09):
car people. My wife's in the little corner, she's talking
to everybody that gossiping about the Real Housewives in New Jersey.
And then the kids are over there and you know,
playing games.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
It's just a big fun day. Henvy, what's your eye on. Now,
what's the next car? You already have one? I know
you have several in Q. What's the next one that
you're like, Oh God, I gotta have it or I fail.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
The next one is actually too I love the Lambeau Ravoto.
So it's the invented door replacement. If you know anything
about the Lamborghini, they have an invented or it's been
out twelve years. The replacement just came out, so that
should be here any day now that that's on order.
And the only other thing that I'm really really looking
for is Tesla is making this coop that is supposed
(11:49):
to be the fastest coop zero to sixty and like
one point two seconds. They've been talking about this for
the last six years. I really enjoyed my Tesla. It's
I mean, you plug it in, I ain't gotta worry
about gas. It rides move and you know, people like
your co host over here that hits all types of
parked cars. They can drive on its own, so you
don't have to worry about it, so they don't.
Speaker 4 (12:06):
Worry about you because it drives on its own like that.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
Now, are you ever gonna to elevate and start doing cars?
That fly. No, I like to stay on the ground.
I like to stay in the ground. I'm a p
you know, I'm a person. I don't even like to
fly private. If somebody says, let's fly private, put me
on a commercial plane. Put me on a big plane.
I want to see a lot of people. Maybe wants
to die with many pieces? Yes, yes, you do.
Speaker 4 (12:29):
You get a phone call, like if a new car
comes in, Like, you know, if I want a pair
of shoes or a bag, you know, maybe the place
will call me and say, hey, we got the newest.
Is that what happens with you with.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
Cars all the time?
Speaker 2 (12:38):
Of course they say all you see in becoming their
high five and many Here he comes with his vaxines
ready to go.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
It comes again. Ye know they love it.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
So a lot of celebrities give you the cars for
the car show. Who has the best collection?
Speaker 1 (12:51):
The best collection, I would say on the East Coast,
I love Michael Strahan. He has an amazing collection. Kevin
Hart has an amazing collect action Kevin Hart has he
can't even see. He can't even see over the steering wheel. Well,
he might sit on phone books, but he has an
amazing collection. I think Swiss Beats has an amazing collection.
I think those three or four people probably have some
(13:13):
of the best cars that I've ever seen. White people
aren't buying cars. What's going on here? I got a Ram.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
I can't have a car show with Ram truck and
Jay Leno. Of course, jay Leno has the top of
the top.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Top nobody beating white. Jaylenol probably has about three hundred cars.
He has cars where fifteen twenty million. Like Jay Leonard's
collection is like, have you ever seen it? I've never
seen him. You should go do that. I should next
time I'm in California. He has an amazing collection. Like,
imagine one of the best. What if his cars almost
killed him once? Yeah that was actually well, not the
(13:47):
one that burnt him, but the one he crashed him
was the one that King Saladean was the one that
did the artwork on there.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
You go, wow, So this is the place you're wondering
where to go Saturday? Of course you got to go
to the Meadowlands. Of course DJ mvy's car show this Saturday.
It's all happening. I'm gonna read my ram out there.
I'm gonna Ram run to that.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
Game and this indoor outdoor so you don't have to
worry about the rain. If it rains. We're indoor and
outdoor and I can't wait to see you guys. It's
twelve to five fifteen minutes from Manhattan, so come on
out the Middle Lands Expo Center right in Seculcus, New Jersey,
and it's the sixth annual. We'll have some fun, all right.
And we hit you up there on social media so
we can see more. Yeah, you could follow me at

Speaker 2 (14:33):

be shaking hands and sign autographs and giving people tours.
You're gonna step aside and just see the whole thing.
You're gonna have a moment to yourself. You're gonna go,
this is cool, this is where my life is right now.

that moment. You know, every gratulations, Thank you so much

when I first started doing the car show, I Heart
was like, car shows don't do well. We don't know
if we want to back the car show. You know,
they're not that type of gathering. Uh And Lincoln Tech.
Salute to Lincoln Tech and Tina. They were like, well,
let's do it. I don't care, and I was like, well,
these things are expensive. There was like will sponsor it,
(15:15):
Let's do it, and it's grown from there. So I
want to just salute to Lincoln Tech that they are
our biggest sponsor.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
I know you you do reads for them as well. Yeah,
they have had my back for the whole time. Power
