Today's Daily Highlight from Elvis Duran in the morning show.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
We're there, our friend Jamie is here. Can we just
hear me talking about this?
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Yeah, we can.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
Today.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Jamie has been at Light FM down the hall for
what thirteen years?
Speaker 1 (00:16):
Just yep, just about and.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Jamie's been on our show several times. We've talked about
the dating world and how you're out there looking for
that guy because you want to start a family.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
You know, do you want to start a family?
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Yes, of late, you've been through a couple of health things,
which you know. Okay, so we heard the other day
Jamie has made a decision. Tell everyone the decision you made.
You made And it was announced just a day ago.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
Today.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
They literally quit my job, like just walked in there
and did it.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
I'm so proud of you.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
There was no tweek notice.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
I didn't even know how this worked.
Speaker 5 (00:52):
I went into my boss's office and I just told
him the truth. I've been having some health issues and
I need to get my I get myself in a
better space. And I did three rounds of IVF last
year and I turned forty in May, and I want
a family, and unfortunately this environment for me anymore for
(01:12):
my health and wanting a family is not the space
for me anymore. And I have family here and I
loved it, and I loved all my time here and
I'm blessed and grateful for it. But it's time for
me to now go to the next chapter of my life,
which is going to set.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Me up for the rest of my life.
Speaker 5 (01:27):
And there you God, yeah, not scary, but I did it.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
The reason why I'm so grateful that you came in
to share this with our listeners because all a mega
tone of our listeners are going through the same thing.
They're trying to find the answers in life, and they're
just in a spot that doesn't allow them to see
clearly and find that path they need to be on.
Speaker 5 (01:47):
And I get that, like I was paralyzed in fear
for over making a decision like this, Where am I
going to go? Because I don't have something lined up now?
How am I going to pay for things? What am
I going to do?
Speaker 1 (01:57):
And then the fear of not.
Speaker 5 (01:59):
Having a family was scarier than the fear of just
jumping out of the airplane going universe catch me.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
And that's what I did.
Speaker 5 (02:06):
And I'm a little bit shaky, but I know the
universe is going to have my back and I will
land in a place where I'm supposed to be and
have my family one day that I do so desperately
want to have there.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
You go, yeah, so be brief, just do it. Sometimes
you just have to jump. Rip the band aid off,
James jump.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Let's talk about Let's talk about courage. That's it.
Speaker 5 (02:25):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
And a lot of people listening right now are going, God,
I want that courage. What was it? Was it any
one thing or just a collection of things that made
you go, Okay, I'm pushing the button today.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
A collection of things.
Speaker 5 (02:39):
Really. My health was just after the twenty one years
of these hours. It's really rough on the body. And
then I spent so much of my money on IVF
last year and that put my body through a lot.
And I just looked back and thought, I didn't do
all this to go never mind. And when that door
closes for a woman, that's that's it.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
So I was.
Speaker 5 (03:00):
I decided I'm finding him, I'm having those babies, and
I have to leave.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
And I just pulled the trigger and I did it.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
Wow, Wow, I love.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
This for you.
Speaker 5 (03:09):
Yeah, yeah, I mean you've known me forever. It's like,
it's just it's something I've always wanted.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Yeah. Oh, you guys have known each other since before
you came here, right, yeah, yeah, so in Boston. Yeah, yeah,
you were talking about this plan back then.
Speaker 5 (03:21):
Yeah. And I know not everybody wants kids. It's a
very personal decision. But for me, it's just too important
to wake up one day and I'm my windows shut.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
That can't be me. I have to just do it now.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Good for you. Yeah, but you know, it may not
be kids, it mayn't be found. It may be a
rainbow of reasons why. Yeah, someone is listening to another thing.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
It doesn't have to be that.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
I have to get the courage to do it. Yeah,
and you are, you're jumping out of the plane with
no shoot.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Oh yes I did.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
But you know what, Okay, it's all good.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
It's all good. It's all good. I feel really good.
I feel good.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Well, do you vacillate with your feelings a little bit?
Like one minute you're a little frightened that likes and
you're like, so you feel relief.
Speaker 5 (04:01):
And it's like an excitement because I know that great
things are going to come my way, and.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
You're so talented, you have so many you know, things
you can thank you to, you know, other places of employment.
Speaker 5 (04:11):
Yeah, so I full disclosure. I jumped without having a
backup plan. And sometimes you just have to do that too,
You just I will land somewhere. And but if I
didn't jump, I wouldn't have done it. I would never
have done it if I kept thinking about it.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
You know who could be after you? Who's next in
line for this? This is very important. So when we
know who is ready for a family, ready just to
quit this job?
Speaker 6 (04:35):
Oh yeah, this plan until the plane comes to a safe.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Lan dropped in, So we crashed the plan. He's ready
for a family, He's ready to get out of here.
He doesn't like this job, doesn't like anything it brings.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
Yeah, we're kind of the opposite, but I still love you.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Scary Okay, So what do you know, Jamie? For a year,
we all have. What are your feelings about what she's
doing here? I almost cried for you yesterday.
Speaker 6 (05:04):
You told me in the garage and we hugged it
out because honestly, you I know how long you've wanted
all this, and there's no way that any of that
could really happen with the hours that you keep the
demands of your job distresses and the struggles. So I,
for one, am very happy. And I got to say,
I'm super proud of you. You're a stronger person than
me because you actually you're taking a leap of faith here.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Thank you. I appreciate you.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
Do you want to be solicit for like a GOM?
Speaker 4 (05:29):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Please? Farmer's Only?
Speaker 5 (05:32):
So, I mean, I'm ready.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
Farmer's Only?
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Who is Canadas high? Candace? Hi, you did the same
exact thing thatck in May that Jamie's doing right now.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
I did, and I'm so proud of you, Jamie, like
it's so scary, take the leap, I'm so proud of you.
I got out of a toxic work environment. It was
best for my mental health. I have a ten year
old son. I said, you know what, I want more
time with my kid and more time for me.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
Well see, there's a kid involved here. So you walked
away from a career with a child because a lot
of people say, well, god, you know, I'm lucky I
can walk away because I don't have any children. You
have a child. How was that? How frightening was that
for you?
Speaker 5 (06:15):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (06:15):
My god, it was the scariest thing I've ever done.
Like she said, it's like jumping out of a plane
with no parachute. Right, But the universe had my back.
I picked up a bartending job. My son and I
have had the best summer ever. Oh love. He was
so happy, he said, Mommy, this is our summer. Our
summer twenty four did not miss. And let me tell
you something. It was the best decision ever. I'm happier.
(06:36):
My mental health is through the roof.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
You know.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
My biggest reward is friends and family saying, you know what,
you're glowing. You look like you're happy.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
So happy for you. That sounds amazing.
Speaker 4 (06:48):
Wow, thank you. I'm so happy for you, Jamie.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
Thank you, Candace.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
As we hear the story between Candace and Jamie doesn't matter,
you can admit it. Maybe you're thinking, look what if
I did that, Damielle.
Speaker 5 (07:02):
It's all.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
I'm thinking, is Jamie.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
When we see you in like two weeks and you've
reset from getting up at this time of morning, you're
gonna feel human again.
Speaker 4 (07:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (07:13):
So good.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
You're ten years younger, sleeping in and getting your coffee
and going outside and grounding yourself and doing the bird
stirping and not stressing. Girl, You're gonna fall in love again?
Speaker 2 (07:27):
Is that what happens in the morning when we're working?
Speaker 5 (07:29):
Is that what happens birds out there forgotten by?
Speaker 4 (07:36):
Look at that? It's amazing.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
Well, Candace, congratulations and you know what, I love that
you hearing Jamie's story sparked you and made you reach
out to us. I love that. Congratulations and all the
best to you and your son.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
Thank you so much. Good luck to you, Jamie.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
Thank you, Candace.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
So when you walked in did you do that? Did
you know when you walked in? This is it? Yeah,
you walked into his office.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
I was, yeah, I was. I was shaking. I was shaking.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
How did it roll out?
Speaker 5 (08:03):
I just sat down and shut the door, and I
had this conversation in my head and I just said,
I don't even really know how to get into this.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
There's really no easy way, but I have to give
my resignation.
Speaker 5 (08:15):
Wow, after twenty one years in this industry, more than
half my life. That it was not an easy decision.
But I have to put my health first and just
what I want more than anything in this family, which
in this world rather than is a family that is wild.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
I'm so glad you told this story.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
Yeah, oh, thank you. I'm so happy.
Speaker 5 (08:36):
I hope I can just encourage at least one person
just to jump out of that airplane and know that
it will be okay and it will change your life.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Wow, it will all work out.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Yea, yeah, well, thank you.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
Are they panicking over there?
Speaker 1 (08:49):
I don't I think it is. I love them all,
That's why I have to ask. You know, they'll find somebody.
Speaker 5 (08:56):
Let me tell you, there's been three people that already
asked about it. But he's not even cold yet
