Speaker 1 (00:03):
What would you talk about you on your podcast? Fine
Elvis present fifteen morning show about fifteen minute morning show podcast?
Will it be fifteen minutes? We'll find out now, won't do.
In the house, we have Danielle, we have Garrett, we

(00:24):
have Scary Hi, we have Gandhi, we have Scottie b.
I think that's him here. Let's look at the photo
and see what the day it is. You know, do
you want to circle back and tell this story Gandhi
because it's a great story.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Yeah, I love too.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
I don't think it's great.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
So Scotty took yesterday off because he told all.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Of us to take off.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
I worked from home, okay, whatever.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Scotty was not here yesterday because he told all of
us that he wanted to be at home because his
parents were surprising his daughter for her birthday with a car,
and he it was happening in the morning. He didn't
want to miss it. So Diamond the Interin and I
were kind of give him shit about, well, why can't
you just do it when you come home. I don't understand.
He said it was very important that it happened in
the morning. Then later yesterday he sent me a photo

(01:09):
of Ashley being very surprised, as if to say it
happened earlier in that day, And all I did was
swipe up on the photo to see that it was
not taken yesterday. In fact, the surprise went down on
Sunday morning at eleven o five am, and Scotty was
over here trying.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
To pull all over.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Who swipes up on pictures?

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (01:29):
I always do.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Why are you so suspicious because people lie?

Speaker 4 (01:32):
Scott Were you trying to catch him or were you
just curious? Gandhi?

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Oh me, I was just curious to see what time
it happened. And at first I thought it happened at
eleven o five yesterday, and I'm like, oh, he still
could have come in, but that's okay. And then I
saw Sunday. And by the way, you know the best
ones to swipe up on and save people's COVID tests.

Speaker 5 (01:53):
Oh, it takes a certain kind of special person to
do what Gandhi did.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
And because I mean he just called you special.

Speaker 6 (02:08):
You know.

Speaker 5 (02:08):
Well the thing about it here, like Scotty sends me
and I got a picture or video from anyone, the
first thing I'm thinking about is not to go swipe
up to see if it was any malicious intent or
to do some investigative work for what reason?

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Because I hang out liars and thieves.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
May I please explain the situation really now? Okay?

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Yes, go ahead, go ahead.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
So it was always planned for Monday morning, and I
showed Gandhi text supporting that fact. My dad then wound
up getting he had to work Monday morning and my
brother couldn't come Monday morning anymore. So they're like, please,
can we just do it Sunday? And I was like, okay,
I guess I'll try to make it work Sunday. And
this was already over the weekend, so I was already
going to be working from home Monday morning. Plus they

(02:54):
were both home from school because it was Veteran's Day.
It was my daughter's birthday. I wanted to spend time
with her when she woke up. And who cares, No, I.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Think all that's very endearing. I think where you're a
little bit of a weasel is that you tried to
send me that picture yesterday night as though it happened
during the day.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Okay, so let me you You did that is okay.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
So if I would have said.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
You could have sent it on the day it happened.
But you you embargoed.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
If I did that. If I did that, then would
I got shipped from them because they like to give
me ship. You could just come in then, why don't
you just come in?

Speaker 5 (03:24):
I teach Scotty Ghani's being a little ship on this one.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
I think.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
This math that I called him out and you've probably
got caught lying to you don't know what I've said.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
You'll see that COVID test was live and in person.

Speaker 6 (03:38):
But didn't you say didn't you say when you could
check when people alter their photos too?

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Yeah, so somebody, Well you can tell if somebody sent
you something from face tune or snapchat, you can tell
that kind of stuff. Yeah, there are plenty of ways.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
What's Ghani accused me of being shrunk ahead beetlejuice?

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Well that was just obvious.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
That wasn't even that was like Smoothie.

Speaker 5 (04:07):
The first So that that picture that you view with
the falls, what's up with that?

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Well, we did, we did notice it looked a little odd.
You've used the doctor Frankenstein apps. Can't you just let
people be though? Why do you have to call people
on their show? Tell you why? I tell you why?
Because Gandhi and I have something in common. We love
a good aha moment.

Speaker 7 (04:30):
I think with all the editing people do on their pictures,
when they see you in real life and you don't
look like that, they're like, oh damn, you get off
on the aha moment.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
I want to hear more about this. I just think
it's kind of funny. It's just funny, is this for?
No one's in trouble, no one's mad, right, It's.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Never anything of consequence. If it was that serious, we
wouldn't out it on the air. We wouldn't poke you
about it when you know you come in. It's hilarious
stuff that are like the dumbest little lies for no reason.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
Well, because you guys were giving me crap already, Well,
why you gotta stay home? Just do it later? Yeah,
because that's what we wanted to do, Like why do
you gotta give me crap?

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Which is a fully accessible answer, But you came off
with all these excuses, and then you tried to double
down and be like, see it happened this morning, liar.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
Did you write that on?

Speaker 4 (05:12):
Did you say that on?

Speaker 7 (05:13):
When you said because you sent me the pictures too,
but you didn't say it happened.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
You just sent the pictures. When you sent them, did
you say this just No, I didn't.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
But they knew that it was supposed to happen yesterday.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
Yeah, you know.

Speaker 6 (05:25):
On Friday, he said to me, most likely I'll be home.
So he knew in his mind that there was a
possibility that he might something might happen. So when did
your your parents and brothers started backing out.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
Of Saturday on Saturday they wanted me to change it. Yeah, so,
I mean, you know what, And like I said, at
four o'clock, four to thirty of the morning yesterday, I
was like, you know what, maybe I should just go in.
I got a lot of work to do. I should
just go in. But I didn't.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Work.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
And there on her big yeah, Oh that's the other layer.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Andrew was trying to call him at ten fifty five,
and apparently he was acting like he was in the
surprise when it was happening.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
It is not true.

Speaker 5 (06:01):
It's Gandhi and Elvis's psyche. Is it that you guys
don't like to be taken for a fool?

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Is that what it is? Because for me, I just
you know, you're just over thinking. No, it's just kind
of a fun thing to talk about. It's just letting
you know.

Speaker 6 (06:15):
Imagine Scotty took his daughter's car to work yesterday. You
give if he came to work and he took Ashley's
car and it's like, hey, here's a new car, but
I'm taking it to work.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
You should Is it a nice car? It's a nice car.
I guess my cart. Anyway. No, I don't think there's
anything deeper and awful about what we're talking about, not
at all. It's just kind of fun. I mean, he
did pause a day before he sent a PHOTOIL.

Speaker 4 (06:45):
Everything you do from now on, you're gonna have to
make sure.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
I definitely intentionally waited a day to send the picture.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
It seems you did. It seems a little choreographed, all
little And is there a problem with that?

Speaker 3 (06:57):
No, because I have very I have very understanding coworkers, most.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Of them, most of them scary things. I'm trying to
get into your psyche. Why you would do that? Why
you find it so interesting and important? No, No, I
just hilarious.

Speaker 5 (07:15):
It is hilarious now that I think about it, and
I'm sorry I didn't think about it myself.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
I should, But now I'm going to be more investigative.
I don't know. I don't know. No, you won't. No,
You'll go through life just caring and it's good fun.
That's a good way to be.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
I need to investigate those vacation pictures either. That was
just we all have eyes, that's all.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
How are we doing? How are we doing on time?
Here in the fifteen minute morning show podcast?

Speaker 3 (07:42):
We are at half that mark right now?

Speaker 1 (07:44):
Oh fuck mark?

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Right?

Speaker 1 (07:48):
Iause we can lead, but I well, it's forty five
degrees outside hours. I got a question. Yeah, is that plan?
Is someone eating that plan in the in the studio?
Which daniel You brought the plant in, right, Danielle.

Speaker 7 (08:05):
No, Sam gave it to me as a present because
you know it's the Day of the Dead themed.

Speaker 4 (08:10):
So look at this.

Speaker 7 (08:11):
It looks like someone walked in and took a chomp
to piece out of my plant. When i's a piece missing,
I'm like, we got hungry that.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
I don't know what kind of plant is. No, it's
not Alver.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
Maybe they thought it was and they did it they
burned on their fingers, but it's not.

Speaker 7 (08:31):
And I'm just curious as to like why people are
like eating There's other things to eat around here tells
me we get food all the time.

Speaker 4 (08:40):
There's no need to eat my poor little guy.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
You know, seriously, So I googled when you said you
thought someone was eating it, what was going on with it?

Speaker 4 (08:48):
And I know you like to water that little thing.
I water it all the time. It's a succulent.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
So you're not supposed to do that.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
No, I don't wonder it. I wonder like every couple
of weeks.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
But apparently with succulents, that's a sign of overwatering, is
they start to lose the top of their.

Speaker 7 (08:59):
Lead, like this happened the day after it was in
the studio. That it was in the studio, and then
the next day someone bid it.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
I like us, we have the craziest stuff going on here.
We've got to get to the bottom of this. Here's
another difference. I wanted to bring something else about bathrooms
at work. Oh do you know what that is? When
you what.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
I'm just I'm thinking about the bathroom here at work.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Well, don't think about that when it has nothing to
do with that one. Uh, you know, do you know
how it is when you go to a great restaurant
and you go down to the bathrooms whatever and they're
all you and a sex. This is like there's like
eight like private little bathrooms in a row. You go
in there and you have your private space and do
your thing right. A friend of mine works for an
office in a company. They have that. They don't have

(09:44):
these communal stalls nice like we have. I just feel
like this we're living in the past with these this
stall system. As a matter of fact, Danielle actually went
in and she was sitting there minding her business, and
the cleaning lady came in and started mopping the floor
and started mopping her shoes.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
She didn't always in there, and she put a mop
right underneath and like attacked me already to know you're
in there. You're like mop in my feet. I'm like,
oh my god.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
And every time I'm sitting there right here, hello, I'm like, god, I.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
Hate that. Well, you know, you have a lot of fiber,
But that's not the problem here. I just I think
we should move into a society where we have the
private stalls. It can't be that much more expensive than
just like these big metal bags, these cages.

Speaker 6 (10:29):
I mean, the door is going all the way to
the floor pretty much in the sails.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
It's like little closet.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
We need that, and we're getting Peachie again all of
a sudden. I don't like the stalls, what you know,
with the things that the urinals I'm getting.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
Also, I'm talking also about the toilet stalls all those.
We should have private little rooms and we can share
sinks outside. That's okay. I don't mind that. It could
be like a co ed sink situation.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
But we shouldn't have to listen to what other people
have going on and vice versa. You just have some
there and.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
Each stall has its own speakers, so there'll be sound
coming out, so it'll cover up your farts.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
That's one thing that should be mandated. There should be
music and bathrooms, especially at a radio station. I don't
want to hear the guy from down the hall next
to me pushing it out.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
That is horrible.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
The noises that come out of some people are insane.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
Oh yeah, we've heard some struggles in the bathroom.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
I mean, when somebody walks in when I'm there, I'm
completely silent. I wait for them to leave before I
do anything.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
See, that's weird. It's weird. I'll go to pee in
the bathroom and I see the feet the feed are
right there in the stall, but they will be absolutely
quiet and still, as if they're like a little tiger
in the grass waiting to pounce.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
Although when somebody duck comes in, I do go just
so they know I'm there.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
But I know you're there.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
I don't do any butt stuff though.

Speaker 6 (11:45):
Do you lift your feet in the stall? No?

Speaker 1 (11:46):
I don't lift the feet. All right, Scott, here is
a weird one. I'm done with you. Can we leave?

Speaker 4 (11:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (11:53):
Any more announcements before we get out of here? All right,
everyone say uh syonara?

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Right?

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
