Speaker 1 (00:01):
Live from the Mercedes Benz Interview Lounge. Hey, welcome to
New York City, Rose Hi, Rose, Open to the show.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
It is so.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Awesome to finally see you here. Will we've been playing
the hell out of the song. By the way, will
you teach us how to do the drinking game?

Speaker 3 (00:16):
Of course? Okay, So this is a game. It's called
up butts it. I was playing all night last night
with friends as well. Actually I was teaching everyone at
the bar.

Speaker 4 (00:25):
It was kind of funny.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Uh. And it goes to upatta basically means apartment, and
so what you're doing is you're stacking an apartment with
your hands with with all your friends, and so you
just uh puts it, put but but it, and everybody
stacks their hand in the middle. You have to have
a shot ready, like a tray of shots ready, because
you're gonna play it multiple times. You put your stack

(00:48):
your hands in the middle, and from bottom, whoever's at
the bottom stacking up. Like if I say, if it
was my game, I would call out like seven, and
from bottom up you go one, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
Whoever's at the top takes the shut.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
So now you're not playing this every single night.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
Well, every chance I get. But it is a fun game.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
It just gets everyone so like involved, and by the
time everyone's had like one or two shots, everyone's like
a it's kind of funny.

Speaker 5 (01:18):
Now, did you have to teach Bruno Mars the game
or did he already know it?

Speaker 4 (01:21):
No, he didn't know it, so I had to teach him.
Did you make it up?

Speaker 3 (01:25):
So?

Speaker 4 (01:25):
No, I didn't. Okay, it's actually a game I grew up.
I didn't grow up.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
I remember when I turned twenty, the girls from Black
Pink was like they got like all the outcohol. We're like,
we're having a night, and like you know, we'd hang around,
hang out at the apartment that we like at the
dorm and would sit around the coffee table and play
these games.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
Actually, yeah, it.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
Was a more interesting story when you said you grew
up doing shots.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
No, I remember I was twenty.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
There is that also.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Okay, so you're gonna be on the Tonight Show with
our friend Jimmy Fallon Night. Last time you were on
you were with Black Paint. Now it's all yours, it's
all yours. How excited are you about Tonight's show?

Speaker 3 (02:06):
I'm like, I'm super nervous. Actually really, but I've like
it means a lot because I think growing up, like
being like a trainee from like sixteen to twenty, I
would actually I would watch so many interviews and live
performances on Jimmy Foulin and I was actually the biggest fan.
So like, it's it's weird and crazy that we'll be

(02:28):
going on and I'm really excited.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Well you should be. It's such a fun show. And
he really is the sweetest guy. I mean, Jimmy Fallon's
are He's our favorite. And I've been on I've been
on the show several times and it goes like that
you're gonna you're gonna perform a song and you're gonna
talk to him, and then your time's up. You're like,
You're like, I want more, I want more, and they
kick you off.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
You go.

Speaker 5 (02:48):
It's so nice to be there for the holidays because
it's all decorated for the holidays and it's pretty. Yea,
it's such a great festive vibe. It's awesome.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Yeah, it's gonna be a lot of fun. So, uh,
what do you think about New York City when you visit?
Do you have any do you have to actually get
to go out and shop and do things, or you're
always working.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
When you're here.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
I do work a lot, but I feel like New
York is a city where like I do like always
like try to find time, and there's so many things
to do, like go shopping, and the bars and restaurants
out here are just so nice. And I've been lucky
because I've had like friends be in the same city
with me this past few times I was here, and
so we'd like I've had a lot of fun times
here and I'm planning on coming back for sure.

Speaker 6 (03:27):
Do you do all of the basic Christmas stuff like
the tree lights?

Speaker 4 (03:32):
The other day, we.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Drove by the Rocket. Yeah, we were driving past and
we were in traffic, and so like I kind of,
you know, I wanted to take a picture in front
of it.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
So like we put our hands up in front of
the like popped out, and there's somebody out on us.
It was like a second. I literally went like soon
and then some of the like a cop goes hey,
and I was like, I was just like go back in.

Speaker 6 (03:59):
I feel like that's the most New York citything you
can do, is try to have some joy and someone
curses you out about it.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Just girl trying to have fun. Give me a officer. Well, okay,
let's talk about the album, Rosie. It came out Friday,
I believe, and of course APT were playing.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
I'm calling it APT. It's what I don't I'm saying
it wrong.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
Probably Okay, you can call it as well.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
It's just a fun song. Remember the first time you
heard it, we were just even. I was like, you know,
I'm an little guy. I'm dancing around to it the
whole album.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Though.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
You apparently put everything into this album. You put your blood,
sweat and tears into this album. Talk talk about that.
I mean, what, what exactly did you do that just
kind of took it all from you to show up
on the album and make it what it is now.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
I think I kind of just used the songwriting sessions
as my therapy session. So more than of course, I mean,
I would like I wanted to create a great album,
but more than that, it was like a year of
like really healing and I would walk in with you know,
all the things that I kind of didn't really resolve
in real life, and I'd talk about it, would write

(05:07):
a song about it, and I'd really like heal from it.
And so It's like a little time capsule for me.
That year was like it's been. It was a special
year for me, And that's just what this album is.
And I hope people relate to it because I was
just really being very honest in the studio.

Speaker 5 (05:22):
Are there any songs on it where you go, maybe
I shouldn't have put that one out there.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
We thought about it a bit too much that I
didn't think I made any mistakes there. Yeah. I worked
really hard on it, like we thought about it. We
discussed it with so many people, like so many.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
Times, and so no, I hope I don't have anything
I would regret.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Yeah, the new single, we're gonna play it in a few minutes.
It's called Toxic Till the End. So obviously there's a
story there, right, I mean it sounds like it's a
very personal story in the song. We're gonna hear the
whole thing in a minute. We're gonna know you better
than ever when we played this.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Song in a few minutes.

Speaker 6 (06:01):
Can I want details though on Toxic in your twenties?
What was so toxic or is so toxic about this?

Speaker 4 (06:06):
I think so many things are like very toxic.

Speaker 6 (06:09):
Oh, I agree, I just wanted your Yeah, what were
like toxic?

Speaker 3 (06:14):
I would cry over like mean people and I'd like
tried to get their love and a sticker. And my
sister is like, you do that, Rosie, Like why do
you do that? Like you give them so many chances
until like they leave you eventually. But they were so
like mean to you. They didn't appreciate you. And I
think I did that a lot. I might still be

(06:36):
doing it. I I'm trying not to do it anymore,
but yeah, I think a lot of that, and toxic
relationships for sure was one of them.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
Like boys as well, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Boys are icky.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Yeah, I find fascinating with you and writing these songs,
performing these songs on your album.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
It is. It's your history.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
And you know, ten years from now, you're going to
listen to that album and go, oh my god, remember
I was going through that.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Thank God, that's all resolved, you know, And you'll.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
Be able to when you're in your fifties and sixties,
be able to go look all the way back with
all of your albums you'll have by then, and your
story is chronicled right there.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
It's a beautiful thing.

Speaker 6 (07:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
I already look back at it, going, oh my gosh, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
Being vulnerable is a great thing. It's a powerful thing.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Right, Yeah, I think so I've learnt so much from
being vulnerable, like the moment I chose to be vulnerable
over like create, like creating something that's like not true.
You know, I've learned so much more from those moments.

Speaker 5 (07:38):
And all your fans probably say, you know, so many
will say, gosh, I'm going through that same thing right now,
which just helps me get through it, you know.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Of course.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
I mean that's how I feel when I listen to
other people's music. So I just hope I can do
the same.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
Yeah, when you crawled it about at night and close
your eyes to dream, do you dream about about your
concerts in the future, selling out stadiums? I mean, what
what is your dream for you.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
For the future.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
I think it's like because my album just right, no, no,
it's fresh, yeah, and like to do a concert, I
have to have a few more songs than that, and
so like, I think it's gonna take some time, But
I dream that at the right moment, at the right time,
when I feel like I have enough people who appreciate
my music and I have a good list of songs

(08:24):
that and like have a good vision then to be
able to like set up a show that I'm proud of.
I definitely do dream that like size wise, I don't.
It doesn't have to like I don't necessarily dream it
in size, but I dream it and like call it
tea and like if it's something, hopefully I can you
like look back and be like, I'm proud of that girl.

(08:44):
You know.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Oh I love that. Yeah, I love that. Well, you know.
I hope you get out and have a little fun
in New York City while you're here.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
And there you go more shots, more shots, more shots,
and then when you're on with Jimmy Fallon, enjoy every
second of that because it's it's you. It's it's all
about you, and so you should be very proud of yourself.
And we're so happy that you spent time to come
see us.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
Absolutely much for having me.

Speaker 6 (09:11):
I have one more question. So I saw recently that
you felt guilty after washing your hands once you met Rihanna.
Is there another celebrity or are there other celebrities that
you would feel the same way about if you meet
them you're not washing.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
Oh that's a really hard question.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
It was like crazy because like I haven't been a
big fan of many people, but so like Rihanna definitely.
And and then like a year ago when I went
to Bruno's constant, I remember being like, oh my god,
Like me and my friend were like, we're huge fans,
and so when I first met him, I probably felt
that way.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
But then now I'm like Brudo.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
On my phone now with them my friend.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
It's weird how that's changed. Yeah, well yeah I was
a huge fan.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
Well, it's okay to wash your hands. Eye, we insist
we to wash your hands. It's okay. I want to
play both songs. Let's do Let's do aput and play
Toxic till the end. Rosie of Course is out the album.
We're all celebrating, and make sure you're watching Rose tonight
with Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show on NBC.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
Thank you so much for coming to see us today.

Speaker 4 (10:17):
Thank you, thank you for having me us
