You didn't next to him?

Speaker 9 (05:43):
Well, we were down the hall and he came out
of the bathroom and we had said, like someone had
said that he was in the building. So Andrew got
excited and started playing his song and he comes out
of the bathroom and we make eye contact, and I'm
just like, hey, and I point to Andrew, who doesn't
see him. But Andrew turns it up and I was like,
he just smiled, And wait just yesterday, and I feel

(06:08):
that I'm not you know, though we killed, I do
recognize it.

Speaker 11 (06:13):

cared about that. Uh, you know, everybody is just like
finstas and all this other stuff. Nobody cares anybody that was.

Speaker 10 (06:28):

How much better people looked back then because everybody was
fairly natural. People looked different, they had real bodies. It
wasn't this weird like filler botox expanded odd version of
a centaur.

they would do like seventeen different SLOs in.

Speaker 5 (08:08):
The hot time.

Speaker 7 (08:13):
This is where the magic happens. The pan down to
the side, to the right, and you know they would.

Speaker 8 (08:51):

a hot tub in the car? That doesn't seem practical.

Speaker 5 (08:59):
You know, you like swimming, so we put a dive
tank in.

Speaker 8 (09:02):
Your car, gun range in the back of a mini van,
Like what the fuck is going.

all the songs that you guys are singing.

Speaker 8 (09:43):
Crack back cracks so often why search?

Speaker 2 (09:48):
That's okay? So come.

Speaker 15 (09:51):
We're reminiscent about the late nineties and early two thousand's
top forty and rap music because they for some reason
know all the words to these songs.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
And we yeah, booty booty rocking everywhere.

Speaker 11 (10:06):
Yeah, thirty years old, thirty What else?

Speaker 2 (10:12):

Speaker 7 (10:43):
Man?

Speaker 11 (10:44):
Did you play that? We did?

Speaker 3 (10:48):
We did?

Speaker 15 (10:50):
We did a Z one hundred party functional family vacation
with Nivia nvia the shampoo.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
Yeah, yeah yeah, And Nibbya's dad got drunk with us.
Rihanna got drunk with us in Saint Lucia and party playing.
Did she not the same party plane that y'all put
all the margaritas in my room?

Speaker 3 (11:15):
Remember that?

Speaker 2 (11:17):
And I got yeah?

Speaker 6 (11:18):
And ray J and ray J dove into the shallow
and head first.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
That's how many girls can you get into ray J
shower contest live on the radio? How many girls could
go in the Raji shower live on the morning shows.
We sent a bunch of listeners up into ray J
shower with ray J and we put them on the air.

Speaker 6 (11:37):
We did some crazy that was That was pretty Kardashian though,
I think.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
And what do we do with Sean Kingston?

Speaker 3 (11:43):
There was a whole thing about and did we have
a big lube slide in Florida?

Speaker 6 (11:49):
Greg t Miami k y k.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
Astroglide, slip and slide. This is do mess with my
man back. You know I have I have Nivia.

Speaker 12 (12:08):
Shaving cream in my shower and I swear to you
every time I'm shaving. Now I sing, don't mess with
my man.

Speaker 16 (12:14):
What because I shower, I shave, I shave in the
shower and I have a Canonivia And I always think
of that, that great time that she was with us
on the beach.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
We had all these celebrities before. I mean, these people
are like superstars now. We had that when they were nothing.

Speaker 11 (12:32):
Who's somebody else that comes to mind besides Rihanna.

Speaker 5 (12:35):
Rihanna's the probably superstar because we were working with a lot.

Speaker 6 (12:38):
Yeah, Rina probably the big Yeah.

Speaker 12 (12:40):
Well, I'm gonna say I told a story on the
Brooklyn Boys podcast, but Danielle will remember this. In nineteen
ninety eight jingle Ball Madison Square Garden in the green room,
there was a little girl with a backpack, uh, scared,
scared for her life and not talking to anybody. The
record rep came up to Danielle and to me and
to other people in the show, like scary, Danielle, meet

(13:03):
this girl. She's she's got a single out, she got
a song out. She's here, she's observing because next year.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
They're gonna probably book them for jingle Ball.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
And we had a nice conversation with her and she
sat there all cordial and cute.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
Who was it, Danielle Bridge spears, Oh yeah, that's kind
of you know who sang in our.

Speaker 10 (13:20):
All the people that sang out ninety eight degrees came
upstairs of the conversation. Nobody knew who they were. They sang,
they serenaded all the ladies. People were like, who are
these boys? We didn't know in Sync? So I did
a show called Pajama Party. So in Sync came hung
out with me and Sharon, my co host, for hours.
Nobody knew who they were. Justin Timberlake. That was when

(13:41):
he would wear pantyhose over his curls. Yes, he came
over and he said, hey, we want to hear our stuff.
I'm like, sure, played us their stuff. I put him
on the phone with my sister. Not one person knew
who in Sync was and we just hung out with
them for hours.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
We would do crazy.

Speaker 11 (13:57):
That was when Justin asked me out.

Speaker 12 (13:58):
It was the crazy Justin Stanielle at We had weekly
meetings in our conference room.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
And we'd have performances.

Speaker 6 (14:03):
Taylor played Taylor sweat Ye, what's his alternative?

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Oh, Christina Aguilera didn't didn't fit a thing.

Speaker 3 (14:09):
And what we did our you know sometimes.

Speaker 12 (14:11):
When we do our like raw, raw meetings in September,
like trying to reset and like go to boot camp.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
John Legend just casually playing the piano for us, you
know what it was to.

Speaker 11 (14:20):
So we didn't have what we have today.

Speaker 10 (14:22):
They didn't have the social platforms they have today to
launch their careers, so they needed radio a lot back
then to the point where we were their first stop
to try and you know, get people to notice them.
And they would have little concerts and lunches and we'd
get to see it all first and talk to them
all first, and it was crazy.

Speaker 5 (14:40):
I remember sitting with Britney Spears at an.

Speaker 10 (14:42):
Interview and I was wearing a big purple sweater and
she was just new on the scene and I said,
she said, oh, I love your purple sweater, and I said, oh, well,
you know, we were just chatting because yeah, I don't
get to do anything I want to do. They tell
me what to learn.

Speaker 11 (14:55):
And this was afore she was.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Even like, really shoes, this is like baby one more time?

Speaker 3 (14:59):
Was you like break just breaking her first thing?

Speaker 5 (15:01):
That's so lucky.

Speaker 8 (15:05):
Lucky About Justin Bieber, we met him before he was famous,
when I was an intern at my old radio station
and he was so annoying. He was a little kid,
incredibly irritating. Everyone wanted him to go away. We have
this event called Red, White, and Boom, which is like
massive fireworks, and he came to that and they told
him he was performing on the air, and he wasn't.
It was only to like the tiny little crowd that

(15:27):
was right there, And all these years later people were like,
well doomed.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
Two thousand and eight, I had to go to the
grand opening of a Microsoft store. It's when Microsoft tender stores.
And I'm there and it was at my radio station
in Los Angeles and they're like, yeah, this.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
Kid's stopping by and the girls really like him.

Speaker 4 (15:46):
His name is Justin Bieber.

Speaker 5 (15:52):
And eleven year old.

Speaker 4 (15:54):
I never even saw him because there was hundreds, if
not thousands, of teenage girls and I'm like, who's this
little kid?

Speaker 5 (16:02):
Why are all these girls excited about this little kid?
And then six months later he is the biggest thing.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
Ever, ye, Gary, and I had him in someone's house
on Long Island that.

Speaker 14 (16:14):
The day before he was at a mall that got
shut down, and the police were looking for Scooter Braun
at the time because Scooter wouldn't wouldn't let Justin say hey,
go home. So the police actually they shut down the blocks, right,
so the only way you can get on the block
is pretty much showing your ID that you lived on
the block. And we did a contest Justin Bieber in

(16:35):
your house and like Justin performed for about ten ten
girls and the police are outside just waiting for Scooter Braun.

Speaker 12 (16:43):
Our friend Brittany Schroeder who works here, she had Justin
Bieber and her bought mitzvah.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
Yeah, ask you.

Speaker 12 (16:49):
About it and then listen. How many mall appearances did
you do with all these artists that then became something.

Speaker 13 (16:54):
So many, so many it's Sam Goodie, all those all
those records stores that don't exist anymore.

Speaker 11 (16:59):
Do you remember what I did to Bieber? Oh my god, well,
stops creepy.

Speaker 10 (17:04):
Usher had just been on the air with us, right,
and he wasn't the nicest person at the time. Supposedly
he has changed a lot. People were complaining on the messages,
saying get him off the air.

Speaker 11 (17:14):
Remember Usher or Bieber Usher?

Speaker 10 (17:15):
OK, So I did not realize that Usher at the
time was Bieber's guy, like you know whatever. So Bieber
comes on and at the end of the interview, he
and I are chatting for a little bit. He was
a little boy, tiny little kid, and I'm like, well,
just don't turn into Usher blah blah, and he goes,
what do you why?

Speaker 11 (17:33):
What do you mean? What is she saying?

Speaker 3 (17:34):
What did she what happened?

Speaker 5 (17:35):
And I go, well, he wasn't the nicest person.

Speaker 10 (17:38):
And then they go go to me, Danielle, did you
know the whole connection with him and Usher? I'm like, oh,
so then when I wasn't in the room, he actually asked.
Somebody goes, did she mean that?

Speaker 7 (17:45):
Like?

Speaker 11 (17:46):
Was he not nice to people?

Speaker 3 (17:47):
Whatever?

Speaker 8 (17:47):
And I'm like, oh my god, Danielle like whatever, don't
end up like your mentor right I.

Speaker 11 (17:54):
Put two together. I had no idea.

Speaker 10 (17:58):
I'm not even going there.

Speaker 9 (18:00):
You know who used to come up all the time
when I interned and worked at power CARDI.

Speaker 8 (18:04):
B all the before she was finished out yees, like
how she got her new teeth?

Speaker 11 (18:10):
And yeah, she used to be on like Instagram a lot.
