Speaker 1 (00:01):
Get your heads together, and we're going to start to party.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Start.

Speaker 3 (00:05):
I'm ready to party the Elvis Duran after Party.

Speaker 4 (00:14):
It's the After Party Podcast. We're all here. There's Scotty
Bee in the Serial Killer studio. There's Danielle, there's Done Hello,
I see Scotty, Hi, and Straight and eight. We're all
ready to go. You guys ready for the big old podcast.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
So Natasha is right here on the phone, and we
saw her text roll through and I'm just intrigued.

Speaker 4 (00:35):
I love these stories. Hi, Natasha, Hi, good morning, Well,
good morning, welcome to the show. Listen. You sent the text.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
It says Elvis, I was adopted and I got to
meet my biological sister this weekend, And of course we
have questions talk about it.

Speaker 4 (00:53):
So how did you hook up with her? And what
was it like.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
We actually both had done a twenty three knee tests
and connected about probably nine years ago, and we were
kind of actually pretty skeptical about it, just because we're
actually half sisters in the percentages are kind of weird.
So we did a second DNA test, went through ancestry

(01:18):
and connected against We were like, okay, it must be wow,
and were we were both kind of young and broke
at the time, so we'ren't able to connect at the time,
but she she took a road trip from Arizona this
summer and mean it happened, so it's pretty wild.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
Wow, Now, did you did either of you see photos
of each other before you met?

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Yes, we had connected on Facebook and kind of kept
in touch that way, and it's it's honestly kind of weird.
Even my daughter kind of resembled her, and it's it
was weird, like being across from each other in the room,
like whoa, you kind of looked like I love that. Now.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Were either of you a little skeptical about getting together?
Was there ever, like a moment of doubt or did
you guys even talk about that concept?

Speaker 5 (02:09):
We did.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
I think since we had been connected for so many years,
it wasn't as weird, Like maybe if we'd jumped into
it right away it would have been a little more
nerve wracking, but it was.

Speaker 5 (02:20):
Like it was like we'd known each other forever. It
was really cool. We we had things in common right now, know,
like our favorite movie Snack, And there were a lot
of moments where we were like, oh my gosh.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Me too.

Speaker 5 (02:36):
Was interesting to play out.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Did you feel like, uh, not in a creepy way
at all, but like a chemical connection with her, Like,
oh my gosh, I just want to hug this person
so much. I feel I feel that we're related.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Yeah, it's it's.

Speaker 5 (02:52):
Hard to describe, but yeah, it's just feel like we've
known each other forever.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
I love that.

Speaker 5 (02:58):
Very interesting.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
It's that feeling you can't really describe it. It goes
on description. Yeah, what Nate, Okay, let's put.

Speaker 6 (03:05):
This in reverse for a second. How exactly are you related?
You said you were kind of like half siblings. Was like,
whose dad? Was like explain that?

Speaker 2 (03:17):
Yeah, so we're related on my mom's side. So there's
we actually found out through our DNA testing.

Speaker 5 (03:24):
That there's four of us. So I'm the second oldest
and she's the baby of us four.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
And then I connected with siblings from my dad's side
as well. I haven't met in person, but there's apparently
four of us on that side as well.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
You need to like throw a big party.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
There could be some secret ones out there too. So
how how did the separation happen?

Speaker 5 (03:51):
From our birth?

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Our adoption stories are kind of different, Like she was
her parents actually met our mom and she was you know,
given away through the state and that whole process. I
was less fortunate and kind of like abandoned at a hospital.
So they're different birth stories. So that was interesting to

(04:15):
kind of roll through too. But yeah, just a young mom,
I think having a tough time. I haven't really gotten.

Speaker 5 (04:22):
To hear her whole story.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
She's a little guarded with that, which is, you know,
her choice.

Speaker 5 (04:29):
But yeah, wow, I didn't.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
I don't really know any of that information until like
my mid twenties either, so we kind of just guessed
for my whole life.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
So we've heard stories of people who, through twenty three
meters and things like that, do find out they have
siblings and they decide that they don't think it's for
the best that they connect for whatever reason they feel it.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
Well, it's water under the bridge.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
I can live the restaurant life without even going through
the process and going through the thoughts and maybe the
pain or anger sometimes. What is your advice for anyone
who's out there like thinking maybe I should reach out
to this person who I'm related to.

Speaker 5 (05:20):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
That's hard to everyone's story is so personal to them
and their experience. I think every adopted kid will probably
relate to me saying that, like, even if you grow
up with a great family and have support, like, there's
still always kind of this whole of just unknowns and
kind of like hurt that you don't realize until you

(05:41):
really delve into it. I think you just have to
be open. And you know, my experience connecting with my
birth mom was not great, but you know, it was
kind of one of those things that I had healed
enough to kind of be like, Okay, I don't need that,
but I'm glad that I connected with her and got
to know, you know, what she looks like.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
And I think it's just so.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Personal to everyone, whether you need that or not, if
that makes sense.

Speaker 7 (06:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
Is there any plans to meet the other two siblings
or actually the other six siblings at any point?

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Right?

Speaker 5 (06:18):
I don't know. There's it's kind of interesting. There's some
really big, for lack of a better term, political differences
on some sides of the family.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
I don't know what I want to eat.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Okay, there's definitely two that I've really connected with and
would love to meet, So I think I think I'll
probably end up being about.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Half an Okay, Yeah, this is such an interesting story.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
Yeah, scary, what's your thought?

Speaker 7 (06:48):
So that's a question really, so is there was this
a one time thing or are there plans to develop
a relationship and maybe plan future trips with them and
you know, kind of go to the next level.

Speaker 5 (07:01):
We definitely stout future connections.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
She lives out in Tucson, which I've never been to,
and so, you know, my my mom was kind of
scheming like, oh, there's flats to Phoenix that are really
cheap and just really close and so hopefully hopefully we'll
have the financial ability to keep connected. You know, she

(07:25):
found out she was an ant I have a thirteen
year old daughter, and says they were like besties right away,
and so I think, I think she'll be bugging me
to go see her new aunt Warren, and yeah, so yeah,
hopefully we'll keep it going.

Speaker 4 (07:41):
What's up, mate?

Speaker 6 (07:42):
Did you know you were adopted like I did?

Speaker 3 (07:45):
So?

Speaker 5 (07:46):
Yeah, I wasn't.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
So back in the day the laws were different, where
like foster parents couldn't actually adopt their foster kids. And
so my parents got me when I was around nine
months old, and we're able to actually adopt me until.

Speaker 5 (08:03):
That was four.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
So I was pretty I was pretty aware of everything,
so it's going on at that point.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
Well, I love this story, by the way.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
I love that, and I'm not going to say it
has a happy ending, but I'm sure there's a happy
end ending at some point. It sounds like it's it's
still growing. The story is still being told, and congratulations.
You sound like you are very, very very at ease
with all of this and very pleased that you two
made this decision to connect.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
I like that, thinks, Yeah, it's been It's definitely been
a lifelong journey.

Speaker 5 (08:35):
Is getting to go myself and all those pieces I've
never had. That's been cool.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
Wow, pieces of your puzzle are being placed in the
proper place.

Speaker 4 (08:45):
I love that.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
Thank you for your time to Tasha. Thanks for sharing
your story with us and a lot of people listening.
I bet are going, oh my god, she's encouraging me
to go out there and connect.

Speaker 4 (08:54):
I love that.

Speaker 5 (08:55):
Thanks for listening to it.

Speaker 4 (08:59):
Thank you it, Tasha. Have a great day. The Elvista
Ran after party.
