We had a big week NBA Cup action, which we're
of course going to talk about. I also wanted to
talk about Philip Rivers on the Colts came back. I
know that's some football news, but we're we're tying it
back and they played your Seattle Seahawks, so I want
to know what you thought about that. And then also
I wanted to talk about the Warriors youth movement. I
think that experiment is sort of failing or just that

next chapter after that. Championship four was broken up, so
a lot of NBA want to talk about. But first
I wanted to get your general reactions the NBA Cup
action that happened over the weekend. We have our finals
set with the Knicks playing the Spurs, but I think
there was a lot of fun surprises in the last
few games of this tournament. So I wanted to start
off because the Thunder Actually they lost one game this season,

so everyone sort of thought this was going to be
a lock, but our Spurs knocked them out in which
was a seriously fun game and a lot of stories
came out of that. So what was your your general
reaction watching the Spurs take down the Thunder in the
in the semi finals.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
That that game was, that game was going down, and
that game was good, good basketball. It seemed like playoff
style basketball back and forth. It's crazy because I had
okay see winning the cup. Yeah, I had okay see
winning the cup from the jump, but I didn't know
Wimby was coming back. I didn't know Winby was coming back,

So that that messed everything up. And you've seen the Spurs,
like they just played with a different energy, even though
Winby was on a minist restriction. Obviously he played really
well and couldn't play that long, but like their energy
was just different, Like they they really they really, they
really took down the best team in the league and
it was a showdown. Like that was good basketball right there.

I was happy to see that game, like me and
my boys was me and my kids was watching that, Like, dang,
that reminded me of a playoff battle right there.

Right, that's what because I think we're trying to find
these new rivalries, and I think that game, you know,
it mattered a little bit. It wasn't the playoffs, but
that was a preview. Like here are two young teams,
a team that had already won, you know, the championship.
We talked about them are like are they almost too good?
And like not had any challenges and it got heated,
Like Wenby came back and in twenty one minutes seat
he put up like a pretty great stat line, but

one like the guard trio, Like it was the first time.
I just realized it was the first time we saw Fox,
Castle and Harper and went me all healthy, and it
was scary. It was scary, Like what do you think
this team could do now with everyone at full health?

Shout out to miss Johnson, Seattle native head coach, but
they're good. Like I loved Aaron Fox's game, obviously he's
proven in the league. Castle is like I played against
him this summer, Like I was, I was surprised how
strong and like physical he is and like he's got game,
Like I liked his game back in college and then

Harper lefty cold like he got real hoop games, so
they got they got a bright future. And then you
throw Winby in there, and then all the other support
guys in that group, like that's really good.

Harrison Barnes is an ultimate pro.

They got like good basketball players did play similar to
the OKC thunder, Like their style of play and how
they play is similar to each others.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
That's why it was such a good game.

Like and they obviously SGA Chip and those guys over
there the best team in the league hands down right now.
But like that's a battle man and it's dope to
see two young teams being able to battle it out
like that in December, which you don't get games like
that all the time. So that that was really from
a basketball fans standpoint, like that's what you want to

Well, so the rivalry is obviously born, and I think
a big part of rivalries is some shade being thrown
a little bit. And so they in a post game,
Wenby was quoted as saying, I'm just glad to be
part of something that's growing to be so beautiful. And
here's the line, pure and ethical basketball. So that was
kind of shots at the thunder We all know one

of the biggest criticisms that the Thunders playing style is
at a little bit foul baity. How much how much
validity is there to that statement?
Speaker 2 (04:44):
You think just a little bit.

You know, every now and then, you got to take
a little jab, see if somebody see if so try
to get there just reaction, see if they say something back.
And he knows how good he is. So when you're
really good, you could take little jabs here and there.
You know, Sga, You're just like you know, it comes
with it.

So do you think that this could potentially be a
Western Conference finals come playoff time? And could you see
is there a world where the Spurs can take them down.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
If everyone's healthy? Obviously it's the NBA. Anything can happen.
But I can't say that now because they haven't even
like sniffed the playoffs. The Spurs, they haven't even like
that group of guys haven't really experienced playoff basketball like
the Thunder half. So I can't say that right now,

but like that would be a dope, dope series, dope opportunity.
Hopefully it goes further in the playoffs and they meet
each other, because that would be like those are two
good basketball teams.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
They played a good brand of basketball.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
Both those rosters. They have the recipes that we've seen
to win a championship, whether it's a deep bench or
a player like Wemby, you know, and both both also too,
just a young roster, and I think that's what we've seen.
You know, when it comes down to it, you need
some of those vets. And it's crazy, like an SGA
is considered their vet over on the Thunders, so crazy,

it'll be interesting. I guess darreon Fox is the vet
on the Spurs, so it's like it's a younger vet,
but it'll be interesting to.

See already, right, so they're probably he's probably gaming all
of them on how this is about to go down.
So that's like a that's a key piece into what
they have. Obviously he doesn't produce a lot on on
the court, but like his presence and he's just an
ultimate pro thiss, super consistent. So that's a little sneaky

piece that they have. They got the championship experience that
they need to go far in the playoffs.

Okay, so let's go the other side. The next of
their playing in the finals. Jalen Brunson is just playing
out of his mind. It might be finally his year.
So you know, he's a shorter guard who went thirty
third in the draft. I'm kind of wondering again, like
why are why are the NBA teams continuing to underrate
these shorter guards.

The game of basketball doesn't like small guards. And it's fine,
like it's all good. It's just not meant to be
a small man's game. So anytime you have somebody that's undersized,
like you got to be damn near special to be
even to even survive. So a guy like him, if
he was six' eight doing those, things they'll talk about

him like the best player in the. World but since
he's six one sixty two and still doing remarkable, things you,
know they take little jabs at you here and, there
but you live with. It there's only a few guys
that's been small that's been able to dominate the game of,
basketball and you got to give a shout out To Jalen.
Brunson but the game is changing in a way where it's.

Positionless basketball is going away from having a small guard
on the floor because you want to be able to
switch all types of. Defenses but you know the guys
that are still at it and the guys that are
still like fighting to survive and show case and.

I wanted to talk about the Warriors youth movement. I
think that experiment is sort of failing or just that

next chapter after that. Championship four was broken up, so
a lot of NBA want to talk about. But first
I wanted to get your general reactions the NBA Cup
action that happened over the weekend. We have our finals
set with the Knicks playing the Spurs, but I think
there was a lot of fun surprises in the last
few games of this tournament. So I wanted to start
off because the Thunder Actually they lost one game this season,

so everyone sort of thought this was going to be
a lock, but our Spurs knocked them out in which
was a seriously fun game and a lot of stories
came out of that. So what was your your general
reaction watching the Spurs take down the Thunder in the
in the semi finals.

That that game was, that game was going down, and
that game was good, good basketball. It seemed like playoff
style basketball back and forth. It's crazy because I had
okay see winning the cup. Yeah, I had okay see
winning the cup from the jump, but I didn't know

So that that messed everything up. And you've seen the Spurs,
like they just played with a different energy, even though
Winby was on a minist restriction. Obviously he played really
