(00:00):
No, fake news incorrect. It'sstill me. I'm still hanging around here.
I mean, why make Mandy comein for what was going to mount
to eighteen minutes? You know, ruin her all day? She's off somewhere,
right, is she gone? Yeah, she's gone, and she flew
the coop. DJ Jazzy Jeff's alongsidewith me here. This is kind of
surreal. Usually we're over there workingtogether on six point thirty K How jazz

(00:22):
Man, how you doing doing it? How you doing? You know?
I'm just hanging out for another fewminutes here. I guess we can call
this the Ross Kaminski postgame show beforewe go to the Colorado Rockies pregame show.
So just bridging the gap there, kind of tying up some loose ends
ding from Ross's program over the lastthree hours. A lot of interviews there.
I had a good time. Hopeyou did too, and enjoyed listening

(00:44):
to those. If you missed anyportion of it, it'll be up on
the podcast soon. You can alwayssend your text along. Fifty six six
ninety also excited to announce that JimmySangenberger he'll be filling in for Mandy the
next two days. Thursday and Friday, and I believe he's making his KOA
debut, Is that correct? Jazzman? He may not know, he
doesn't know. What's that shirt you'rewearing, mask to don it's a band

(01:07):
shirt. It's a band. Wheredid you see them? Where did you
view? Have you seen them inplay? Yeah? I've seen him a
few times. Okay, Well, what I'm saying is you stood in line
for merch at a concert, right? Did yes? How long did that
take you? Oh? Boy?Probably like an hour. See that's the
thing if any of you have beento a concert recently, you have to

(01:29):
make a choice. I went toa Tool concert with my buddy Hutch.
He was in town up in Loveland, and we could even either stood in
line probably the whole night waiting formerch, which is hard to get out
here, like the posters and stufftoo, not just the T shirts,
or you know, attend the concertinside and go inside the arena. So
the last one I was at wasPusifer Perfect Circle and Primus at Red Rocks.

(01:56):
That was awesome, And it wasthe same deal. Hutch was supposed
to come and go to that concertwith me. His work jerked him around.
He had vacation time already put in. Then oh no, this one
guy had to stroke, this otherguy quit, and then then the boss
went on vacation. You got tostay like Okay, I don't like I
would want to work at a placelike that. So I was angry on
his behalf. I was angry forhim. And yet two of our mutual

(02:16):
friends from Florida still flew in andattended the concert with me. And it
was the same deal at Red Rocks. Yeah, you got these long lines
for merch, or you can goinside the Amphitheater and watch the concerts.
So how did you solve that puzzle? Jazzy See, I went when the
act before Mastadon was on. Iwent, and I waited in line.

(02:38):
So I missed an act that Iwasn't I mean, I kind of wanted
to see it didn't necessarily okay, and it only it took you an hour?
Yeah, this is that Fiddler's Greenthough, Okay, I don't know
what the other venues are like,so I think that's a little on the
low end. You've got a storyout there, going to a concert and
you waited in the line for merchHow long did you have to wait?
I want to know. I'm justdoing my own personal survey here. Let's

(02:59):
go to before. I have avery uplifting story to close out on a
little bit and want to get yourresponse to that. You all want to
get rid of Lauren. Tell youwhat I live in Denver, give us
Bobert you take to get. That'san interesting trade offer, and I can
tell you full support from yours trulybehind Valdemar Archiletta, Republican candidate in first
congressional head to head against to Get. It's an uphill climb. It'll be

(03:23):
like the miracle on Ice if hewins. But hey, I believe in
miracles, okay, and I believein Valdemar. He is a great guy.
If you have a chance to pickup that hour long interview was for
the full third hour yesterday and wemade some news from it. You heard
Chad Bauer maybe earlier reporting on thathe was disavowing the endorsement he received from
the Colorado Republican Party because of anincendiary email that was sent out that I

(03:47):
found personally repulsive as a very proLGBT Republican myself. I know that sounds
maybe like an oxymoron, but Ithink if you walk with me a little
bit here, and maybe you attenda log Cabin Republicans event, that might
illuminate like there are people out therewho they want to like us and us
I'm talking about me on the rightside of the aisle, voting Republican.

(04:11):
But instead of turning our backs ona gay speaker at a Republican convention like
thirty years ago, you know, welcome more diverse people into the party because
we share a lot of interest,We have a lot more in common than
we don't. These individuals happen tohave a different sexual orientation. So what
is my response to that. Iknow Mandy and I are squarely in agreement

(04:33):
on this entire issue, and Mandy'sa big supporter of the Log Cabin Republicans
and in Valdemar as well, andso I just really appreciate all that she
does and says on this program alongthose lines. I want to be an
inclusive party, big tent party, not an exclusive party. I don't attend
exclusive parties. I'm grout show marks. I always use this quote, I

(04:54):
would never belong to a club thatwould have me as a member. It's
a joke, but it's kind ofserious I get in these like group think
situations, you know what I'm talkingabout. You go to a convention,
or you go to a meeting ofthe minds, or I went to the
Republican Assembly down in Pueblo, AndI'm like, do I really want to
be here? Like I like alot of these people. Don't get me
wrong, but like, you know, do I want to like celebrate the
fact that we all agree on certainthings? Like that doesn't do anything for

(05:17):
me, you know, I'd ratherbe among people like we just heard with
Tricia Calvarese. I'm a big fanof hers personally. I disagree on quite
a bit of policy things with her, but I don't disagree that she's a
good person and I like her alot. And you know, in another
world or another political sphere, ifher seat didn't tip the balance of power

(05:40):
to Hakeem Jeffreys, which I absolutelydo not want in a vacuum, I
think Tricia's a very formidable candidate andsomebody that would represent her district well,
I will say that that much. And I know a lot of you are
getting your ballots in the fourth Congressionalso you will have that decision to make.
Ryan is Jimmy Fayla's show Clean.I would say it's a good question

(06:01):
on for the most part, absolutelyyes, I think you can count on
it being PG thirteen or lower andnot R rated, not at all.
That's just not his brand of comedy. I mean, heck, he has
had his own mother on his latenight show on Saturday. We went over
that in detail and if you didn'thear that conversation that was in our first
hour. Such a great guy, just a fundamentally good guy, has got

(06:21):
a great story to tell. Andyou can see him at Pike's Peak Center
for the Performing Arts that's down inColorado Springs one night only July thirteenth,
and you can get your tickets PikesPeakcenter dot com. Let me see here.
Good job avoiding meaningful issues like border, student loans, gender studies in
elementary school. You know, Ionly have so much time, Latricia,

(06:45):
and I tried to do the bestjob that I can. When you get
to interviewer, then you know youcan ask her those questions. We did
talk a little bit about student loans, in fact, got into a lot
of details to why I think thetrades and she agrees with me on this
are a far better option right now, I would say, is somebody coming
out of high school. If Icould go back in time, or if
I could talk to a young person. Now I am a college grad.
I wouldn't trade that experience necessarily. But I think a really good path is

(07:09):
going through the trades and becoming anapprentice and having your education paid for and
working while you're learning and getting paidfor that. So instead of accumulating loans
and having to seek the government helpfor a bail out, you're not in
debt at all. In fact, you're making money, you're putting money away,
you're getting great benefits. You know, IBW has got a great program,

(07:29):
and I can speak to that personallyhaving worked with them back in Michigan.
All right, let's get to thegood story here. So not all
heroes wear capes. You've heard thatstory saying before. But some heroes wear
clocks. And one of them isFlavor Flave. Flavor Flav Flavor Love,
right, public enemy. Now thisis a little before Jazzy's time, but

(07:51):
you know who Flavor Flave is,right of course. Okay, do you
know the service that he tried toprovide for America over these last couple of
days are you aware of this story? I'm not. Okay, Well,
get ready to salute because he's atrue American hero. I almost feel like
having theme music behind this, buthere we go. Entertainment weekly Flave of

(08:11):
Flave orders everything on Red Lobster menuin attempt to save the restaurant chain.
You may have heard so Red Lobsterlost their asses basically with this endless shrimp
campaign, and my colleague Kelly Couchera, her husband, Adam, I think,
helped put them out of business. And I say that because he also
helped change the McDonald's promotion where you'resupposed to get a free double cheeseburger,

(08:35):
no questions asked, no purchase necessary. You go through the line, you
got it through the mobile app.Rockies hit a double. They might do
it today and then the next dayyou go through the drive or you get
your double cheeseburger and you drive away. You don't pay a thing. No,
because of Adam, Kelly's husband. He keep casting on too many of
those, apparently, and then theychanged did you know this? They change

(08:56):
the promotion Now you have to buysomething in order to get the free double
cheeseburger. And I don't think that'sright, mid season, reformulate after the
season's done, reconstitute the promotion.Hey, we lost a lot of money,
let's go ahead and require a purchasenext time. No, they changed
it middle of the game. Theythought nobody would notice, But yours truly

(09:18):
looking out for you. I noticed, and I think it's hogwash. There's
other words I would use for itif we were talking over a beer and
not on the air with FCC regulations. Anyway, back to Red Lobster Flavor
flav illiterate. He orders everything onthe Red Lobster menu in an attempt to
save the chain, and the quotein the subheading says, here, you
boy meant it when I said Iwas gonna do anything and everything to help

(09:41):
at Red Lobster and save the CheddarBay biscuits. Those things are addictive.
They are like crack cocaine to HunterBiden. You can't resist them, and
they come out with them, andthen you're filling up on the Cheddar Bay
biscuits and you're gonna, you know, you should save that room for the

(10:01):
seafood, but they don't want youto do that because it's a little bit
cheaper for them to make you loadup on the Cheddar Bay Biscuits Flavaflave.
Here's the articles, doing everything hecan to ensure that everyone can enjoy the
sweet, sweet flavor of Cheddar BayBiscuits for years to come. Last month,
the rapper announced on social media thathe was going to use his platform
to help save Red Lobster, whichhe described as quote one of America's greatest

(10:26):
dining dynasties. Wow, they needto hire him. That's some good pr
right there after, the restaurant chainannounced that it had filed for bankruptcy.
They closed down my location that's closestto me in Loan Tree. That's one
of several, I think four DenverMetro locations o our Lobsters that have been
shut down. Now, Flava Flavehas officially put his money and somewhere his

(10:50):
mouth is by purchasing its entire menu. And then there's the quote he said
he ordered the whole menu with tripleexclamation points. Alongside his post, flavor
Flave, whose real name is WilliamJonathan Drayton Junior, shared a snapshot of
himself standing proudly behind two circular tablesthat were absolutely completely covered in a range

(11:11):
of delectable seafood dishes. He alsotook a moment to reply to several comments
beneath his post, including one writtenby a person who claimed that Red Lobster
was quote closing down because of mismanagementand greed. In response, Flava Flav
wrote, they ain't closing down justyet. Red Lobster also celebrated the Reality
Stars Deep Sea Dining experience, commenting, it's flavor time boy. Yes the

(11:37):
signates or sign off line, Soyou could check this out on his Insta.
That's what the kids call it nowat flavor Flave. And he really
can't say that. You can't sayfifty cent. I am fifty cent.
I just watched Beverly Hills Cop forthe first time in a long time,
a phenomenal movie, start to cover, one of the best, one of
my favorites of all time. Andwhen Eddie Murphy makes fun of the black
officer in Beverly Hills not falling forany banana on the tailpipe, gotta loosen

(12:03):
up. So it's not fifty cent, it's fifty cent, and it's not
flavor flave. It's flavor flave.Like I got to say it like that,
Like he says his own name flavor. Flav is awesome, and there's
the menu. You can see thison Instagram. He got a lot of
stuff here. I'm looking at it. I mean not everything, not just
seafood. It's got some of thedips and the chips and soups, and

(12:24):
you literally order everything on the menu. Is true to his word. Red
Lobster announced that it had filed forChapter eleven bankruptcy protection after making the quote
tough decision to close a number ofour restaurants on social media last month.
In its filing, the company statedthat certain operational decisions by former management have
harmed Red Lobster's financial situation in recentyears, so they're blaming the last guys,

(12:46):
whoever they were, including the decisionto change it's twenty dollars endless shrimp
from a promotional item into a permanentmenu item. Still, the company maintained
in its post that filing for bankruptcydoes not mean we are going out of
business, it continued, In fact, it means just the opposite. It's
a legal process that allows us tomake changes to our business and our cost

(13:07):
structure so that Red Lobster can continueas a stronger company going forward, and
it concluded with join us, dinewith us, root for us. Together,
we can write a new chapter. You, Me and Flavor Flave.
So if Red Lobster does survive, that's the guy that's going to get the
credit. If Adam Kuchera, Kelly'shusband put them out of business, Flava

(13:28):
Flave just put them back on theblock. Are you a Red Lobster fan,
jazz Man, No, No,I'm not. I've probably been there
like three times in the last likefifteen years. Well, you're part of
the problem, then do you wantto be part of the solution or no?
I don't actually don't really care aboutthe restaurant. All right, all
right, I'm a fan. I'mnot usually big chains guy. I remember
back to the office and if younotice, like Michael Scott's favorite restaurants were

(13:52):
always chains like Chili's. He lovedChili's and those mid level chains are really
struggling right now. And one thatreally surprised me in recent weeks, the
Cracker Barrel has come into some difficultiesas well, and they're going through some
restructuring and maybe some menu changes. And I got to say, again,
a guy that doesn't love chains,I love the cracker barrel. Now how

(14:16):
about that one, Jazz, Areyou into that one? I'd help save
that one for sure. Oh yeah, okay, so you're on board with
that, but yeah, the crackerbarrel. All these play if you notice
the TV ads too, They're reallytrying to hone in on this market where
fast food prices have skyrocketed. Applebee'shas a commercial about the price of a
burger, you might as well cometo Applebee's. That's a great line,
that's a great marketing strategy and angleto play. And I think what happens

(14:41):
is these mid level chains are gettingleft behind because now they're having to elevate
their prices with the cost of workersand the cost of logistics and delivering food
items, cost of producing those fooditems. This is why, you know,
just a brief political aside, Ithink we need to elect a Republican
and Donald Trump as president to helpbring those costs down. Lower regulations,

(15:03):
make things easier for farmers, becausethat's where it all starts for a lot
of these restaurants. And I thinkthat the drop in inflation and of these
prices will follow. You know,I go to King Soupers and we're paying
what sixteen seventeen dollars dollars a poundnow for roast beef. I'm talking the
high end stuff, the bores Head, But even for the private selection Kroger
stuff, you're not going to geta cold cut for less than twelve thirteen

(15:28):
dollars a pound right now. Andeven when they're on sale, it's like,
oh, you're eleven or twelve dollarsa pound. I mean, could
you imagine talking to yourself and pointingthis out, like even two three years
ago, that you're going to notpay under ten dollars a pound for meats
and cheeses, So that it's gettingvery tough for those mid level chains.
This texter says Ryan, I assumeyou guys are talking about the banned Mastedon

(15:50):
and not the band Mastadon. There'sone with an O and one with an
E. Mastaedon with an E wasstarted by two brothers, John and Dino
Elefante. They also have time toa more famous band, Kansas. So
yours has an Oh, so I'mglad that somebody pointed that out. I
didn't know there were two. Didyou know that? I didn't know that
either. We learned something today,Jazzy. It's like a after school special,

(16:11):
So there have been lessons learned.Learning has taken place. Iron Maiden
Concert started last year. I'm stillin line from that Texter. Oh boy,
that's great. Let me see here, Ryan, that text or Twitter
or whatever it was, an emailabout pride is exactly why Dave Williams needs

(16:32):
to be fired. If he allowssomething like that to go out as representation
of Republicans in Colorado, he needsto be gone. My broader concern is
what I talked about with Valdemar, and that that's not the message that we
want to be sending out. AndI don't think that's the stance. And
Valdemar said that of most Republicans thatwe embrace our gay brothers and sisters and

(16:52):
LGBT community and those that have conservativeprinciples, and there are a lot more
than you maybe think that we don'twant to cast them out. We don't
want to lose them from the fold. Gotta build a big tent party.
The music means I've got to go. It also means Colorado rockies are straight
ahead. Stay tuned for that pregamecoverage coming up next. Ryan Shulin signing
