thrilled to pieces to have two guestswith me now. One who is responsible
for us being at the RNC,Heidiganal, the owner behind Rockymountain Voice dot
com. And thank you, thankyou, thank you for making this poss
Mandy, thank you you doing sucha great job. It's been so fun

(00:20):
to listen to your coverage. Well, I got you here not just because
I wanted to thank you on theair, but because your dad, Harvey
is here as well. And Heidisaid to me when I said, oh,
my gosh, you're going to bethere, she goes, oh,
this is my dad's lifelong dream tobe a delegate at the RNC. Harvey
is in everything you dreamed of andmore. Hell, the electricity, it's

(00:42):
out of this world, I mean, and the people I mean awesome,
I mean, and I'm just meetingthe greatest people in the world. It's
I just can't say, it's adream come true. Well, let me
ask you this, How do youget to be a delegate? That's the
first question. Well, it starteda long process. It was about eight
years ago when she ran for SeniorRegion and I decided to get involved and

(01:04):
help her out and become a precinctperson. So I volunteered at the precinct
caucus and became a precaint Caucus purposeperson. And so I got involved in
the process, and I started canvassingthe neighborhoods and helping her out getting elected
and so forth, mostly on thegolf course. Statute votes on the golf
course. I'm going to do thatright there, there we go. Yeah,

(01:26):
I played. I played golf aboutthree times a week. Yeah.
I always say leave me open.I don't play with a particular group,
and they always pair me up withpeople. I met oil and gas people
and all, and I secured donationsfrom like a golf course hustler gambling on
your golf You're like, so,let's talk about my daughter and her running

(01:47):
for the time. That's how theconversations always started out. And by the
time I had done with him,we're all I'm giving them my card and
I'm saying, okay, here's whereyou want to send them. Mini.
It's hilarious. So you're very activein the part though. Overall, Yes,
I am. I got involved andbeen staying on. I think it's
been doing for about eight years. And I've donn on it with my other
co Sink precinct person with me.Well, I mean we canvassed a little

(02:12):
the neighborhood almost like four hundred andfifty homes and walked and talked to everybody
and greeted them and passed out literature. So yeah, I'm active. So
how I want to ask you somelike basic nuts and bolts questions about being
a delegate because you got chosen asa delegate by the Colorado Party, right
right, how did that process work? Well? It started off, of
course, I was just the localprecinct elected me as a delegate for the

(02:35):
county, and so I went tothe county delegate delegation meeting and at that
point I got elected to the state. To be accepted by the state,
the party had to review me andI had to write a summary to them
of why I should go and Idid and I think the fact that my
daughter was running for governor helped, yeah a little bit. Yeah, when

(02:57):
did you find out you were goingto get to be a delegate? How
long ago? Oh? Boy,when was that a few months ago?
Yeah? Yeah, right, soyou're gonna have enough time to plan Actually,
yeah, I was right around theState Assembly when they told us,
okay, so do you have topay your own way? Yes, okay,
so you got to pay your ownway, and then does the party
book the hotels and everything. Areyou guys, is the Colorado delegation all
together? Yes, we're We're atone hotel all together. It's super fun.

(03:21):
We all stay up till like twoin the morning talking after we get
back, so we're all together. We ride a bus together over here.
We sit together for the most part. The delegates are on the floor.
I'm an alternate, and then wehave guests that all sit together. But
it's just been a blast. Iwas going to ask you, Harvey,
what did you think was going tohappen versus what you've actually experienced. Has

(03:43):
it lived up to your expectations?Oh, it's beyond. I mean,
I'm sitting down there and at firstyou know that you hear a lot of
the procedural stuff going on. I'mvoting for this, and when it comes
to your moment in the highlight, everybody just goes like crazy, banana crazy,
and everybody's jocking to try to getinto the camera views. But it's
kind of fun because where we're locatedis the entrance where they bring the president.

(04:08):
I was going to ask you aboutthat, because you guys are right
there. Were you able to seehim well as he has entered the arena
of the left hause. In fact, any my friend basically lieutenant governor,
Yeah, candidate actually got a chanceto shake his hand last night. Well
I noted this earlier that last nightwhen he came in. Obviously we're watching
the big screen because he's down below. We're up in the newseblade seats,

(04:29):
And it looked like at one pointsomeone reached for him and he took a
hard step towards the wall, andI the Secret Service basically said, you
know, you got to back upto the delegate. That Wasny He oh,
shut up, that's hilarious. Thatmakes that story even better now,
And Nanny apologized and then he cameo ow and shook his head. Oh

(04:51):
that's so, but he did hethey he stepped right over, which is
kind of a sad state of affairs. That seems to be the new reality,
right, yeah, it is.You know, I have to say
the security has been amazing. Whenwe get on the bus, there's always
at least two police officers of eachbus yeah, oh wow. I mean
they're they're they're taking this thing veryseriously. Yeah, we've we've talked about

(05:14):
how tight security has been all overthe place, how wide the perimeter is
now, I mean how big itis. Just getting a ride share out
of here at night, we haveto walk like a mile just to get
into an uber because nobody can comein here. But it's been it's been
a lot. What are you lookingforward to? Do you like JD.
Vance? Do you like that pick? Do you like the gd Vance?
Actually he was my pick there.I was ready for all long. I

(05:39):
like the He'll Billy elogy. Ithink Great is the perfect guy, and
I think he could be our nextpresident as well, and beyond Trump.
Well, I actually think that's whyTrump picked it, because he sees a
younger guy that can kind of carrythe mantle forward after Trump because he's going
to be a one term president.Well two terms, but you know what
I mean, he is second termand there will not be another chance to

(05:59):
run for reelection. What are youhoping to hear from JD. Vance tonight?
Huh oh, I don't know that'sa good question, because, uh,
you know, I'm just glad tosee him up there and speaking to
us. Yeah. Number one,I think he just wants to be a
Trump's wingman right now and get hisfeet established before he chares to make any

(06:19):
great moves. He's a good debater. I've watched some of his debates,
so I think he's gonna he's gonnahandle it Kamala very well. Well.
I do think that we were watchingearlier on the big screen. This is
what's happening at the Five Star Forumright now, and they're doing all these
mic checks and everything, and Trumpcame out and did a mic check.
So I think he's going to introducejd Vance tonight, which would be unusual,

(06:40):
I think, but I think that'dbe fantastic. So we'll see.
He might speak tonight, and ofcourse he's going to speak tomorrow night,
and I'm sure you're looking forward tothat. Yes, I am. I
am. Now, Heidi, letme ask you this because Rockymountain Voice dot
Com is our big sponsor, andI've come up with your new slogan.
If you're not starting your day withRocky Mountain Voice, you're just not right.
And I love that you guys arecovering this, and you've been covering

(07:04):
this. What made you want tostart Rocky Mountain Voice and why you know
go all in trying to provide rightleaning coverage for Colorado's well manny, it
was pretty obvious that the liberal mediaand Colorado beat the snot out of me.
Yes they did, and I feltlike it wasn't fair to voters that

(07:24):
we couldn't get our message out,We couldn't talk about policy. They directed
everything, and that they were socoordinated the headlines. If I did an
interview for an hour and we talkedabout policy, it would be completely different
and everybody would reverberate with it.And I just thought, gosh, this
is crazy. How can we getour word out to voters so they know
that we have better solutions to theproblems? And so I met up with

(07:45):
some folks down in Texas that haveTexas Scorecard, which is a platform down
there that they built over a decadeand it works great. They have over
a million people that get their newsfrom Texas Scorecard every day. So they
mentored me talk to me about howmy work in Colorado, and we launched
it in January. It's a nonprofit, so there's no paywalls, sponsors,
ads, no subscription fees. Wewanted to make it really easy for people

(08:07):
to get their news. The newslettercomes out a few times a week.
It's called The Mountain Minute. It'sa quick five minute read. It's got
a fun political park cartoon. Andwe are unabashedly center right, Like we
just don't apologize for it, right, and you shouldn't have to. I
mean, here's the thing, ifwe were all honest in the media,
we would know that everybody has alean right, everybody is coming from a

(08:28):
direction. It's just interesting that it'sonly conservatives that will admit it. Yeah,
I agree. Mania. It's beenreally fun to build an army of
citizen journalists too, Like we havemore and more people that are writing for
us and going to report on countycommissioner meetings, city council meetings all over
Colorado, and we're trying to balancecommentary with actual news reporting. We have

(08:50):
a great team, and we're buildingup on social media. We've got over
one hundred thousand subscribers now that gettheir newsletter every few times or every few
days and get their news there. And so I think we're starting to make
a dent and hopefully we'll have animpact on the election. I hope so
too. Heidi Ganal and Harvey, her dad a delegate today. Thank you
for sitting down with me and makingtime, and thank you for sending us

(09:11):
here, because this has just beenthe best experience of my life, just
so good. I'm so grateful tobe a part of this. I wouldn't
be here without you. Well,we're grateful for you. That's why we
did it all right with Mutuallogy AdmirationSociety, and we will be right back after this
