WILL THE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL PASS? No one seems to know as of this morning, but that may change by the time I start the show. Have they gutted the cost saving measures enough for Lisa Murkowski? Who knows. You can read more here but I'm sure there will be updates soon.

HOW ABOUT A LITTLE VETERAN ART? Jefferson County Public Library has partnered with the Veterans of Foreign Wars to showcase artwork by their members and photography from the Denver Vet Center. Throughout the month of July, several JCPL locations will host the work of different local artists. There will be a one-hour reception at each location for the artists showing there, providing the public with an opportunity to listen to their stories and discover how artistic expression helps triumph over adversity. I'm talking with Sean Eads, JeffCo Public Library Programming Coordinator, today at 2:30 about it. Find out more here.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
I have no idea.

Speaker 7 (03:43):
Nancy thought you could do little.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
I'm telling you, I thought it was Wednesday all day,
only to be reminded when I was in my car
that it is indeed Tuesday. Yeah, you know, luckily didn't
put the trash age. You know, I know, I know,
I do feel Let me just this is not a
paid commercial. I just want to be clear about this.
So last week in the Saga of Mandy, took a
long vacation in a foreign country fourteen hours away. You

(04:06):
may have heard me talking about my horrible trouble getting
back on a sleep schedule. Well, Greg at Blue Sky
CBD heard me talking about it and sent over some
of their sleep jels and again, not a paid commercial,
but holy schnikes, those things have saved me.

Speaker 5 (04:23):
Not only am I.

Speaker 4 (04:23):
Back on a normal sleep schedule, I'm sleeping like the dead,
which for me is something so I am.

Speaker 5 (04:33):
I'm a true believer.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
Anyway, Again, not a paid commercial, but I'm feeling a
lot better this week, thank you, Pony. Aside from the
whole I thought it was two Wednesday and it's just Tuesday.
I have to say a big, big, big congratulations to
one mister Dave Logan. You people may have heard of him,
you know, he was quite something in his heyday. But unfortunately,

(04:55):
for the rest of us, Dave's Hayday just never ends.
It's always Dave Logan's heyday. And today we celebrate thirty
five years of Dave Logan on KOA. And that, guys,
in radio, every year in radio is like dog years, right,
For every year that you successfully stay and don't get fired,
that is basically worth like four or five years in

(05:17):
regular employment years. And Dave has now gone up thirty
five in one industry, in with one station. That's absolutely incredible,
really incredible. So today when I see him, because Dave
and I see each other every day for approximately ninety
seconds to two minutes. Yesterday we were in the kitchen

(05:38):
at the same time and we had a download. We
had a veritable chat. But every day there's a little
bit of sarcasm and ribbing. And today I'm just gonna
look at him right in his big square john and say, dude,
how old are you?

Speaker 5 (05:53):
Ah?

Speaker 7 (05:54):
Yeah, you're definitely not going to think about how he
thinks you cheated of the day.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
Not today today, he says he did say it, and
then he said, I think Ben said it, and I
was like, oh no, no, don't shift the blame.

Speaker 5 (06:04):
Mister man.

Speaker 7 (06:05):
Huh not today?

Speaker 5 (06:07):
Yeah, yeah, no to the texture.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
He said, Mandy, I bet you're sleeping better and have
a sudden craving for.

Speaker 5 (06:13):
Eating Dorito's and brownies. Lol.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
No, none whatsoever and no residual negative effects. In the morning,
popped out of bed the last two days. Took Jinks
for a walk. She's back to going for a walk
after her unfortunate getting hit by a car situation. Anyway, Mandy,
how long did it take for you to get rid
of the jet lag? Returning so at a week when

(06:37):
I was still struggling mightily. I took the Blue Sky
Sleep Chills and that knocked me out that first night,
and I've slept with their help every night since then.
It's just been amazing. But I've heard for every time
zone it can take up to that many days to
fully recover. And there are things you can do to

(06:58):
help a jet lag. You can get up in the
morning and while the sun is rising, be outside while
the sun is rising, and then again be outside to
watch the sun setting. That goes a long way to
sort of helping reset your Cicadian rhythms anyway, So that
is I'm a big believer.

Speaker 5 (07:17):
Now, Okay, I got a lot of stuff to talk about.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
The big beautiful bill from the time I posted the
blog to the time I started the show did pass
the Senate. It was a lot of manufacture drama. And
I mean manufacturer because if they had needed Susan Collins,
she would have voted yes. But they gave her cover
in her very purple state, more bluish than purple, and

(07:39):
they gave her cover and louder to vote to know.

Speaker 5 (07:41):
And then jd.

Speaker 4 (07:41):
Vance got in, go come in and cast the winning vote,
you know, very dramatic, and we're all supposed to be
super happy that they got it done. And Ross was
doing a really good job on his show sort of
dissecting the things that are in this bill. And I'm
gonna wait till the passes the House. There's a reason
for that. I learned my lesson when Obamacare was proposed.

(08:05):
I read every single incarnation of the Obamacare bill that
was produced now I think maybe five different versions, all
like two thousand pages each.

Speaker 5 (08:20):
It was miserable, and I swore I was like, oh,
I'm never doing that again.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
I'm gonna wait till the bill passes in its final form,
and then I'm gonna learn all about it, because it's
super frustrating, just incredibly incredibly frustrating to think you know
something and then oh, nope, sorry, we've changed.

Speaker 5 (08:36):
All that crap. I still think it's a garbage bill,
and I still think that.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
Republicans should be especially ashamed of themselves because of this bill. Now,
Ross was told by a senator that this is just
a taxing bill. Now, we've got to go after the
spending bill. I will believe it like I see it
or when I see it. I will absolutely believe it
when they really cut spending. Until then, whatever, Mandy, are

(09:07):
radio years like dog years. They're not quite as long
as dog years. And I'm talking normal sized dog, not
you know, like my dog who's giant, because they age faster.
It's super sad. She's going to be eight this year.
I think, no, maybe seven, I can't remember.

Speaker 5 (09:22):
I have to look it up. Mandy, Dave definitely said
you cheated. I heard it.

Speaker 7 (09:26):
Hmm.

Speaker 4 (09:28):
Confirmation from the people on the text line. Yeah, yeah, indeed.
Now I got a cool interview coming up at two
thirty Jeffco Public School Libraries jeff Co Public Libraries has
partnered with Veterans of Foreign Wars and they're going to
be showcasing artworks by members and photography from the Denver

(09:53):
Vet Center to kind of amplify the way that veterans
can use art and photography and other arts like that
to sort of, you know, deal with some of the
stress that they may be.

Speaker 5 (10:03):
Dealing with post service.

Speaker 4 (10:05):
And we're going to talk to Shawn E's about that
coming up, and then we've going to talk about all
kinds of stuff. But I want to talk about something
that's especially topical right now with the passage of the
big beautiful Bill. And if you're not on x what
used to be Twitter, then you may not know about
the great peeing match that has broken out between Elon
Musk and Donald Trump. Elon Musk came out today or yesterday,

(10:29):
I don't know which, and said there's only one party,
the porky Pig Party, and he said he promised to
primary anyone who voted for this ginormous bill. He's also
gone on to say that we should start the America
Party where people actually care about the debt and deficit.
People who are feel completely unrepresented by either party And

(10:54):
I got to tell you, guys, I am increasingly in
that camp because before any social issues or anything else,
nothing else matters as much to me as the fiscal
health of the United States of America. Because without fiscal
health and growth and prosperity and economic flourishing, none of

(11:16):
the other stuff matters because it's not going to happen.

Speaker 5 (11:18):
All of the stupid.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
Social issue crap that we quibble about constantly, they're all
first world problems. They're all in the luxury belief camp.
You know, when the country falls apart and takes the
rest of the world with it economically, we are going
to laugh about the stuff we were arguing about back
in the day when we watch the government spend itself

(11:39):
into oblivion.

Speaker 5 (11:42):
So nothing else matters as much to me as the
fiscal stuff. Nothing.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
And the Republican Party they're not even hiding it anymore.
They're not even trying to pretend that they care about
fiscal responsibility. This thing adds two trillion dollar, there's more
to the deficit. What Republicans aren't supposed to add to
the deficit. They're supposed to cut the deficit. Oh so infuriating.

(12:12):
And I realized that there are so many of you
out there who are at you know, also follow politics
at a very high level, and you're gonna tell me like, oh, Mandy.

Speaker 5 (12:21):
This is just how it's done, and this is just
how it goes.

Speaker 4 (12:26):
And everybody knows that politics works like this, and everybody
this and everybody that, and I'm telling you my underlying
view here is correct. And acting like it doesn't matter
because it's always been done like this is to me absurd.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
It's like saying to your small.

Speaker 4 (12:47):
Child who is misbehaving in a store and looking around
at everybody as your kid throws a tantrum and goes, no, no,
it's okay, this is just what he does. Well stop
him from doing it. I'll see what happens on the
spending size. But right now, Elon Musk brings the America
Party forward and before you scoff, which is my inclination

(13:09):
when anybody talks about a real third party, because they
always go like this, all this kind of drum beat
and noise from the grassroots. Somebody here starts talking about it,
somebody else over there starts talking about it, and then
they got all these disparate groups and then they try
to get together and then there's a massive fight at
the top over power. This is exactly what happened to
the Tea Party movement one hundred percent. It's what happened

(13:32):
to Black Lives Matter. Any kind of grassroots movement is
full of people who all want the credit.

Speaker 5 (13:39):
And I'm not knocking you.

Speaker 4 (13:41):
I don't say that disparagingly, because if you work your
tail off to get something off the ground, heck yeah,
you want the credit.

Speaker 5 (13:47):
But the only way to.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
Get something done of this magnitude is for somebody who
doesn't care if he gets the credit to lead it.

Speaker 5 (13:53):
And that, my friends, is Elon Musk.

Speaker 4 (13:56):
Elon Musk has a few things that Ross Perrot the
last to really mix things up with an independent sort
of thing. Ross Bureau had the most annoying voice in
the history of voices. I mean, you could not have
come up with a cartoon character on bugs money with
a more annoying voice than Ross Perrot. He tried to
rise now he had a lot of money, so he
got the check that box a lot of money box

(14:18):
was checked. But he did not live in the era
of democratized news distribution. And Elon Musk owns the democratized
news distribution platform so there's no way they can stop
Elon Musk from talking. There is nobody who can put
a check on Elon Musk talking to the I don't

(14:39):
know how many hundreds of millions of people on Twitter
every day. So we've got Elon Musk. He has the
platform and the ability to be heard. Because his platform
is so loud, the news media has no choice but
to cover what the man is doing. They have no choice.
He's too big. He's too big to ignore. He has
demonstrated to time and time again. I think you know what,

(15:02):
love him or hate him. Elon Musk had nothing to
gain by doge. And I know these people are like, Oh,
he loves his subsidies, you guys, he has said an
interview after interview, take all the subsidies, take them all,
he says, Tesla is so positioned to deal with everything.
If you take away the subsidies, we would flourish and

(15:24):
everybody else would falter because our business isn't built on subsidies.

Speaker 5 (15:28):
So let's just take him away. Take him at his word.

Speaker 4 (15:30):
What did he gain from jumping into a government with
one of the most polarizing figures in modern American history?
President Trump and I hope that if you love him,
you can understand that he is polarizing to the people
on the other side. I mean, I do hope you
can understand that. So he has nothing to gain. So

(15:51):
in my mind, he's proven that he really does have
the health of the country at his deepest heart. Now,
as a capitalist who operates multiple incredibly important companies in
this country, of course he should be invested in the
health of the country. But think about how many other
organizations are not. Think about the way that certain things

(16:11):
like the NBA cowtow to communists China with no principle
or spine because they want access to the market he
runs as companies, I mean, you want the United States
of America to be healthy. Other countries, I mean, other
companies don't seem to demonstrate that same commitment, at least not.

Speaker 7 (16:30):
In my mind.

Speaker 4 (16:32):
So, yeah, would I consider a political party that was
shored up and move forward by Elon Musk, Yeah, I would.
I would consider it in a New York minute if
they made fiscal responsibility the primary plank in their platform
and then lived up to it.

Speaker 5 (16:52):
That's the thing.

Speaker 4 (16:53):
I'm way past promises, not kept. I just am way
way past that. So I'm looking for actual results. I'm
looking for people who are going to say, hey, you
know what, we need to raise the full retirement age
for Social Security and we're going to need to do
it with people starting right now age fifty five.

Speaker 5 (17:10):
Guess what that would be me?

Speaker 4 (17:11):
And if that's what needs to be done to really
rain the deficit in yeah, sign me up.

Speaker 5 (17:19):
It's not my perfect situation, but.

Speaker 4 (17:21):
We've got to have serious people with serious ideas to
solve these incredibly serious problems. Instead, we have political animals
who are just hustling around trying to cram as much
pork and garbage into this bill because they know it's
so big. Most people will never ever read it and
find out about their individual grifts. But boy, they're going
to tut those grips in the next election cycle when

(17:42):
they're trying to buy votes in their district or their state,
or wherever they have to.

Speaker 5 (17:47):
Run for re election, Mandy.

Speaker 4 (17:51):
In business, money and relationships go hand in hand, because
without one or the other, sooner or later, there will
be neither. The same must happen in government, which Elon
has tried and failed so far.

Speaker 5 (18:04):
Mandy.

Speaker 4 (18:04):
I agree with you about obvious budget operations need to
be cut. But what about growing the economy. The bill
has tons of way to encourage growth. Both parts are important.
Here's the thing. I absolutely think growth is going to
be encouraged by a lot in this bill. I don't
want to make it seem like there's not anything good
in this bill, because there is. But the reality is this.
We are now spending almost a trillion dollars just in

(18:28):
debt service in the United States of America. Just roll
that around for a second. And yet we haven't even
stopped borrowing yet. We're continuing to borrow two trillion dollars
roughly one point six one point I mean, after one
point five are we really even going to bother counting
the change. We're racking up deficits and debt at a

(18:49):
rate where that debt service is going to keep going
up and keep going up. And then we have a
couple of different ways on how to pay this back.
We can slash government to the bone, absolutely to the bone,
which of course politicians don't have the will to do.

Speaker 5 (19:02):
Or they can print more money.

Speaker 4 (19:04):
And we all just saw what happened when they printed
more money during COVID. What happened to inflation? Again, all
of you people out there, And I don't think a
lot of people in this listening audience were excited about
their stimmy check or demanding another one. But all those
stimmy check people, they have spent way more in inflation
than they remotely got from that stupid check from the government.

Speaker 5 (19:25):
It was just trying to buy votes. It's ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous.

Speaker 4 (19:31):
All right, I want to hear from you texting, and
I'm gonna answer this question on the Common Spirit Health
text line at five six' six.'. Nine oh the, Question,
is Mandy would elon's party Be The tea party two?

Speaker 5 (19:46):
Point zero when we.

Speaker 4 (19:48):
Get back i'll tell YOU how i think it needs
to go down if it isn't going to Be The
tea party two?

Speaker 5 (19:55):
Point ZERO and i got, a lot a lot of.

Speaker 4 (19:59):
Text messages Is The, america party the new party being
Floated By elon musk gonna.

Speaker 5 (20:04):
End up Like The?

Speaker 4 (20:04):
Tea PARTY and i was involved in the tea party
movement back in two thousand. And nine we had a
tea Party In southwest Florida In fort myers that we
put on that like four or five thousand people. Came
to it was phenomenal and by, The WAY can i
just have, A moment let me just give my my
husband some big love on our tea party for, a
moment because you, know what other people had tea parties

(20:26):
and no offense to your tea party where we had
people standing and. Giving speeches we had a tea party
In Downtown fort myers at this.

Speaker 5 (20:35):
Beautiful park we had a stage with.

Speaker 4 (20:37):
A band we had a group of people because this
is what you Get, In, naples florida because you have
all these rich old guys that Live, In. Naples florida
we had a flyover of. Classic aircraft they flew Over
The Calusa, hatchie river some of them like, you know
by wing planes and stuff. Like that and then right
after that we did a massive tea dump into The
Glous achie river with giant. Tea bags so we were.

(21:00):
Ronmentally sound Our Friend chris coles.

Speaker 5 (21:03):
Then rode through the Streets.

Speaker 4 (21:04):
Of fort myers, on horseback dressed like a like A revolutionary,
welsh soldier Chanting the socialists, are, Coming this socialists are
COMING and i am not making any of. This up
and then he rode up through the crowd on his
horse and he went up on stage and he gave,
a proclamation and then we had some speakers and then
the band played and it was. Flipping amazing but nonetheless
the Entire and chuck planned all.

Speaker 5 (21:25):
OF that i have to give him credit on that
because it was just it was.

Speaker 4 (21:28):
Really amazing and the, funny story we had like four
or five thousand people there and the local news media
shot they're only shots they did before it started and
said several hundred people. CAME out i kid, you not
it was it was just it was, so perfect so. On,
BRAND anyway i watched the tea party movement grow and

(21:50):
grow and grow, and grow AND then i started to
see it happening in. REAL life i started to see
this tea party organization arguing with this tea, party organization
and this tea, party saying you can raise money in
the name of this tea party because this tea party
already has this.

Speaker 5 (22:03):
TEA party, i mean you watched it come.

Speaker 4 (22:06):
On glued and then the first round of tea party
candidates get ELECTED into dc and immediately they flip not all,
of them but a lot.

Speaker 7 (22:13):
Of them.

Speaker 4 (22:15):
And then the few that were left when it looked
like it actually might get difficult to do what they were,
talking about which is really cut spending and really rained.
In taxes well they all got voted out. Of office
for somebody who said they were going to do more
of it obviously.

Speaker 7 (22:33):
Has not.

Speaker 4 (22:35):
So why Is The america party not going to fall
into that. Same, trap well it very. Well COULD but
i have a plan and for if any of you
who hang Out with elon just play this back, For,
him heylon?

Speaker 5 (22:48):
What's up come on. The show we'd love to.

Speaker 6 (22:49):
Have.

Speaker 7 (22:49):
You anyway.

Speaker 5 (22:52):
This has to be more top down.

Speaker 4 (22:54):
Than NOT and i don't have anything against, the grassroots
BUT as, i, said structurally when you have a bunch of,
grassroots operations when they start to, come together everybody wants
the same amount.

Speaker 5 (23:04):
Of credit and some people.

Speaker 4 (23:05):
Who are capable of running a small organization are completely
incapable of running a.

Speaker 5 (23:10):
Large organization so you need to have infrastructure in.

Speaker 4 (23:14):
Place now in order to get that infrastructure in place
and not make everybody think this is the, billionaire's party
you have to have a, very clear a very clear
from the outset set of principles that will guide you
forward that are easy to understand and easy, to list
like five things.

Speaker 5 (23:31):
Boom boom, boom. Boom boom, that's it.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
Nothing else And Then elon musk gets to Work, on
Twitter and elon must start spreading. The word and then
hopefully you bring on people that were disaffected on both
sides of. The aisle think about HOW and i Know
in colorado the unaffiliated's overwhelmingly Vote.

Speaker 5 (23:51):
With democrats.

Speaker 4 (23:53):
But the reality is is that there are a lot
of unaffiliated voters who on certain issues, are liberal but
are school conservatives or and by, the way social issues
should never even be mentioned In The. America party it's
not that pro lifers or or pro choicers, aren't welcome
but your number, one priority if that is it is
not our number. One priority in, my mind that situation

(24:17):
is as settled as it's going, to be and it
needs to be duped out in the. Individual states and
then you need to put people. In charge you need
to put financial people in charge of. The finances so
you need to get fundraisers that are, good fundraisers you
need to put them in charge. Of fundraising and then
you need, to have, you know leadership that can push

(24:40):
the whole. Thing forward some of, it experienced some of
it from outside the, political system because what we've seen
is that when outside the political system meets inside the.
Political system the inside the political system is completely intractable
and unmovable. And unchangeable it's like this gigantic granite piece,
of garbage and we need somebody who is coming from

(25:02):
the business world but also knows how to start, chipping
away chipping away at the granite.

Speaker 5 (25:08):
Crap sandwich.

Speaker 7 (25:10):
So all of.

Speaker 4 (25:12):
THESE things, i mean You can it's a, unicorn, SITUATION right,
i mean you have to have all the right people
in all the. Right ways but crazier things, have Happened
and i'm at this stage in.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
The game.

Speaker 4 (25:21):
YOU know i hate to say IT because i love.
THIS country i Love The united States. Of america i've
traveled to so many, other places and, though say, FOR
instance I, LOVED japan i don't want to. LIVE there
i Love The united States of america and the unfettered
freedom that we, sort of, you know enjoy and take.
For granted i've been around, the WORLD and i can

(25:43):
tell you this place is better than anywhere else in.

Speaker 5 (25:45):
My View but i'm.

Speaker 4 (25:47):
REALLY worried i have a sixteen year, OLD daughter i
have grandsons that are. Under ten what is going to
be left behind? For them it's one of the reasons
that my daughter came home, AND said i want to
go to college in YOUR and i, was, Like great
NOT because i want her to leave home and fly
Across The, atlantic ocean BUT because i want her to
be okay moving to another country just in case it comes.

(26:10):
To that that's HOW concerned i am about the future of.
The country and if we don't get our fiscal house,
in order we are going to go the exact same
way as every empire. Before US and i don't see
any measure of Seriousness, IN washington dc now because we've
incentivized such.

Speaker 5 (26:25):
Bad behavior.

Speaker 4 (26:28):
We have gerrymander districts that are, hopelessly safe meaning that
the most extremes are going to, get elected and when
they finally do, get power you can better believe they're
going to pay off.

Speaker 5 (26:39):
Their bases and that's what, this big beautiful bill. Is
about That's What Build back better.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
Was about that's What The Inflation reduction act. Was about
all of this massive spending under the guise of Quote.
Helping americans do you feel helped?

Speaker 5 (26:54):
Right now?

Speaker 4 (26:56):
In hindsight would you rather have done away with the
twenty five percent in flight we've had over the last
few years in exchange for that, stimmy check.

Speaker 5 (27:04):
YOU know, i mean IT'S just i.

Speaker 4 (27:05):
DON'T know i worry, about STUFF and i try to
actually talk about it on the show a LOT because
i Realized that i'm supposed to be the. Hopeful one
i'm supposed to be the one that brings, you know,
you guys hope and, you know a vision for the
future that you can really.

Speaker 5 (27:19):
Get Behind but i'm not a LIAR and i can't
lie on.

Speaker 4 (27:22):
The show it's one of THE reasons i don't talk
about economics as MUCH as i, used To because i've
lost faith that we're not going to go the same
way everybody.

Speaker 5 (27:31):
Else has and it's sad.

Speaker 4 (27:33):
But true how do you mitigate if somebody, asked me
how do you? Mitigate that by modest real estate that's
always going to, be rentable invest, in gold invest in,
the market but don't count on, the market only diversify,
your assets don't get, into debt be ready. For anything
those are my words. Of advice we're going to take

(27:54):
a quick time out And then i'm going to. COME
back I promise i've got a bunch of good Stuff.
On mandy how do you get a new political party
as an option At the Secretary. Of state that is
a state level voting question that we are far far.
Away from and that's the other part with the other
trouble with this third party situation is every state has

(28:16):
fixed the rules to Benefit the Republican and democratic party in.
The state that's just those are. The facts because they've
been in charge for, so long they've managed to make
it very very easy for them to have ballot access.

Speaker 5 (28:27):
And very very hard for.

Speaker 4 (28:29):
Everybody else this Is Where elon musk has to galvanize
and activate and motivate everybody to do the legwork to make.

Speaker 5 (28:37):
This work and if.

Speaker 4 (28:38):
Anybody can do it in a, WEIRD way i, GOTTA
say i Think It's, elon musk the first guy to
build a rocket that could. Be, REUSED yeah i think
you can figure. This out, here's hoping here's hoping for
the future of the country that he can pull. It
off this, dexter said how does this Different From Andrew Yang's? Forward,
party Well The, forward Party and i've interviewed people From

(29:00):
The forward PARTY and i think they're, YOU know i
don't want to sound Condescending because i'm not. At all
their heart's in the. Right place but the big thing
missing From The forward party is. Fiscal responsibility when you
go to their, front page their values do not mention
one single time. Fiscal responsibility and, for me that's thing.

(29:21):
Number one everything else stems. From that every other argument
is just an argument.

Speaker 5 (29:26):
That has to be had. After that, so that for
me is the.

Speaker 4 (29:30):
Big difference maybe what changes when you make to THE
Triple B well i said EARLIER that i have not
read the entire bill or even a good comprehensive sort of,
you know index of the big, beautiful BILL because i
am sure that it's going to.

Speaker 5 (29:43):
Change again the ONE thing i.

Speaker 4 (29:45):
Already Know the senate raised the salt deduction to forty
thousand dollars. A year the salt deduction is the amount
of your state income taxes that you are allowed to
write off on your federal. Income taxes and, that change
more than, anything else is about, wealth redistribution in, my
mind or rather favoring, the rich or favoring people who

(30:07):
choose to live in high tax states where they know
they're going to pay a ton, in taxes but they're okay,
with it and they don't do anything to change the
structure of those states because they get to write all
that off.

Speaker 5 (30:19):
On their federal.

Speaker 4 (30:20):
Income taxes maybe if they didn't get to write all
that off on their federal, income taxes they would pay
more attention to their high, tax, states which by, THE
way i believe are all going to come for some
kind of government bailout in the.

Speaker 5 (30:31):
Near future so the salt deduction for me is.

Speaker 4 (30:35):
That's ANNOYING but i have more stuff ONCE and i
think this is likely to Pass. THE house i think
it's going to.

Speaker 8 (30:42):
Go through.

Speaker 4 (30:44):
There'll be some kind of, you know stirm, and drawing
and THEY'LL be i don't KNOW if i can vote,
for this and then they will because they got some
piece of pork taken in or put. Taken Out lisa
Rakowski in alaska got some kind of carve Out For.
Alaskan Medicaid teddy roosevelt Had The Bull news party and.
It failed he was, very popular and yet there has

(31:06):
there has never been a successful. Third party The Current
freedom Caucus THREATENS trump's. Maga Plans teddy roosevelt had the newspapers.
Against him and remember Back When teddy roosevelt was doing,
his thing the newspapers were the only game. In town
so if you ran up against. The newspapers they could
write anything they wanted, to write and. They did this

(31:27):
is Where The elon musk part of this makes things,
very interesting because it would essentially be like If The New,
york times the owner Of The New york times Was Also.

Speaker 5 (31:34):
Teddy roosevelt, you know you have that means of distribution of.

Speaker 4 (31:39):
Your Viewpoint elon musk has the means of distribution for,
his viewpoint and he has hundreds of millions of people on.

Speaker 5 (31:45):
That platform so he's got a he's kind of got
a kind of a, running start if. You will, You, know.

Speaker 4 (31:54):
Mandy did you wear The Standard southwest? FLORIDA uniform a? Moo,
Moo no i'm not a fan of, The, mumou like
WHY do i want to put something on that's going
to make me Look?

Speaker 5 (32:04):
Like grimace you KNOW what.

Speaker 7 (32:05):
I mean.

Speaker 5 (32:08):
Chuck loves.

Speaker 4 (32:08):
THE mumoo i not. For himself he's just, He's like
i'd love to see you in. A, move, well no
that's not gonna not, gonna happen not even a, Little.
Bit mandy the way to get out of deficit spending
is to grow our way out more federal income from
tariffs and a. Growing economy the growth money will pour
into our, government coffers as it Did When bill clinton

(32:29):
was forced to. Cut taxes this was the last time
the federal budget met. Expenditureist Growth, and texter we are
well pasted any realistic projection that we would be able
to grow at a fast enough rate to do anything
significant about our deficit. And debt whatever, we GROW and

(32:50):
i do believe that we will grow because of, THIS
bill i. Really do it's a very business. FRIENDLY bill
i have no problem.

Speaker 6 (32:57):
With that.

Speaker 4 (32:58):
But we're way past the point where we can just
grow our way out. Of It and i'd like to
point out it Was The republican congress of nineteen, ninety
four under the Leadership Of, new gingrich who came up
with a plan that included the kind of spending freezes
and cuts that allowed the spending to. Catch up i'm
excute allowed the growth to. CATCH up i should have

(33:20):
said sorry. About that we can't just grow our way out.
Of it it's, too big it's too out. Of control
and when the growth, inevitably slows as, it will what do.
We Do then we've got to. Cut spending we have
no other way, around this, All right i'm shifting gears
when we. GET back i want to remember the eighty

(33:40):
two year old woman who was killed by an illegal
immigrant who overstated his visa During the, biden administration on
behalf Of the palestinians and why it matters Well beyond.
Bulger's Borders The.

Speaker 1 (33:53):

Speaker 7 (34:31):

Speaker 5 (34:31):
Good color it's kind.

Speaker 4 (34:32):
Of a he's got a plaid shirt on that's got
TEAL with i believe navy in it.

Speaker 5 (34:37):
As well is that the color Combo that i'm looking at?
Right there you're.

Speaker 7 (34:39):
Probably right And also i'm PRETTY sure i got this
at the thrift store for like. Four dollars.

Speaker 4 (34:44):
LOOKS good i do thrift store score. Big, MOM yeah
i want to change the topic just a. Little BIT
and I wish i was zipping over to some fun
thing to, talk About but. I'm Not, karen diamond eighty two,
years old succumb to the injury she suffered In The
Boulder pearl street mall attack earlier. This month what happened

(35:05):
was she was marching with a group of people who
had a very. Benign purpose they got Together every sunday
to march up And Down pearl street just to remind
people that there are still hostages being Held. In gaza
that's all. They did they didn't get into people's faces
or any of. That stuff they just walked up And

(35:26):
Down pearl street to remind people that hostages are still.

Speaker 5 (35:29):
Being held and an illegal Immigrant.

Speaker 4 (35:32):
From egypt he was illegal because he overstayed his visa
and nothing. Was DONE well i take, THAT back i
mean he had a. Work permit after he overstayed. His
visa he decided that he was going too on behalf
Of the. Palestinian people he was going to go And
hurl molotov cocktails at this group of people whose crime
was number One being jewish perhaps and number two reminding

(35:55):
People that jewish people were being Held.

Speaker 5 (35:57):
By palestinians.

Speaker 4 (36:00):
And in The Process karen diamond was badly injured and
she recently succumbed to. Her injuries now the good, news
here if there is any good, news here is that
now the horrible man is going to be facing murder
charges along with a slew of, other charges including hay
crime charges that he. Is FACING but i want to
share a little bit Today About karen diamond because she

(36:23):
sounds like an incredibly wonderful.

Speaker 5 (36:27):
Human being.

Speaker 4 (36:29):
She was very Active in boulder and in her temple
and In the. Jewish community in, twenty nineteen she Won
The Margaret willard award for contributions and community work From
The Boulder University. Women's club she was president there at
one point she held various.

Speaker 5 (36:46):
Board Roles.

Speaker 4 (36:50):
The University women's club says she typifies all the ATTRIBUTES
u wc celebrates in the women receiving this. Prestigious award
in every organization a community function In which karen, has
participated she has contributed significantly to growth and development with,
her volunteerism, her leadership and her. Gracious goodwill at, her

(37:11):
synagogue she chaired the script program for twenty five years
and made deliveries whenever she needed to to the elderly and.
Immobile congregants when the, Twenty thirteen colorado floods left her.
Synagogue damage she hopped up, And said i've got interior
design SKILLS and i can. Use them she played a
major role in its reconstruction. And refurbishing she also served

(37:33):
on the Board, of adasa An international jewish, women's organization
for more than. Thirty years she also supported a variety of,
musical programs such As.

Speaker 5 (37:42):
The Chictaqua music festival In The.

Speaker 4 (37:43):
Boulder philharmonic she had, two sons, five grandchildren and she
was the one that died because of this. Man's, actions
now WHY am i bringing?

Speaker 3 (37:55):
THIS up.

Speaker 4 (37:57):
I want everybody to understand who this. Woman was first,
OF all i think that's. Really important it's really easy
to sort of gloss, over, like oh, that's terrible that's a,
horrible thing and not take a moment to recognize that
this was a. Human being and not only would just
walk this earth and breathe the air like you know.
Everybody does she went above and beyond in, her community in,

(38:18):
her neighborhood in her in her temple to make sure
that she is doing the things that needed to be
done to help, other people and for that because She. Was,
jewish also while doing all that she, was Burned and
i'm guessing suffered quite. A bit i had a friend
who was burned over a large part of her body
in a. CAR accident i mean really really really, Burned

(38:42):
badly and to hear her talk about, THE recovery i
just thought, To, MYSELF wow I think i would have,
rather died because it's brutal what you have to go
through as a.

Speaker 5 (38:51):
Burn, victim well let's Not Forget. Karen diamond BUT but
i want to point.

Speaker 4 (38:56):
Out SOMETHING and i do my best normally to not politicize,
things UNNECESSARILY.

Speaker 5 (39:00):
But i want to make, a POINT and i want
to make a point.

Speaker 4 (39:05):
About the mayor or potentially the next Mayor Of New,
york CITY and i want to make a bigger point
About The. Democratic Party Zo, ron mumdani the spoiled boy
of an Incredibly Illustrious columbia university professor and an Award
winning bollywood filmmaker who play acts at poverty and talks

(39:28):
about being raised in a third world country as if
he lived in. A hut he has openly embraced the,
phrase Globalized. The intafada he has just absolutely all in
For the palestinian people and when this incident actually Happened On.
Pearl street he didn't Take to twitter to make any
kind of comment one way or, the other but he

(39:50):
did post.

Speaker 5 (39:50):
THIS yesterday.

Speaker 4 (39:52):
I am heartbroken by the News from Colorado Where, karen
diamond a victim of the vicious attack earlier, this month has. Passed,
away well what fish's attack would?

Speaker 6 (40:02):
That?

Speaker 5 (40:02):
Be sir what exactly Did this egyptian?

Speaker 3 (40:06):
Man do what?

Speaker 5 (40:07):
Motivated him you conveniently glossed.

Speaker 4 (40:11):
Over that she, Then Continues may karen's memory be a
blessing and a reminder that we must constantly work to
eradicate hatred. And, violence now the phrase globalized The, into
fada in case you, don't know goes back To The,
first intifada also known As The First palestinian Intafada. In

(40:34):
israel it happened from nineteen eighty seven to nineteen, ninety three.

Speaker 5 (40:39):
And it included a lot.

Speaker 4 (40:41):
Of stuff there was, civil disobedience there was, nonviolent protests
but there were also terrorist attacks that were.

Speaker 5 (40:50):
Designed to Well. Killed jews that was.

Speaker 7 (40:55):
The point.

Speaker 4 (40:59):
During the sixth Year, Into fada palestinians managed to do
some really awful things and a big part of where
we are now in terms of the relationship Between the
gaza strip And The west Bank and israel goes back
to this uprising.

Speaker 7 (41:17):
For sure.

Speaker 4 (41:19):
And, since then since This, first intifada the phrase Globalized
the intafada has. MEANT violence, i mean that is what it.
Has meant that's what it meant in the Second. Into
fada so when people say Globalize, the intofada be clear
about what. They're saying it's the same as if they're

(41:40):
saying From the river To, the sea they want to
destroy all Of the Jews, in israel they want To destroy.
Israel itself It's it's i'm going to play something. For
you This Is mom Dannie on Meet, the press and he's, asked,
directly directly at absolutely forwardly. About IT and i want

(42:04):
you to just hear the yeah tap dance for just. A,
moment okay Is This?

Speaker 7 (42:10):
Christian?

Speaker 5 (42:10):
Welker wait?

Speaker 6 (42:11):
Is?

Speaker 5 (42:11):
IT yeah i Think It's christian walker's. Her name i'll double.

Speaker 4 (42:13):
Check that listen to this conversation about the phrase Globalize.
The intovada whoops.

Speaker 9 (42:20):
Instintly asked about the term Globalize, the intafada if it
makes you uncomfortable in, that moment you did not condemn.
The phrase now just so, folks understand it's a phrase
that many people here as it called a Violence. Against
jews there's been a lot of attention on, this ISSUE
so i want to give you an opportunity to respond here,

(42:40):
and now do you condemn that phrase Globalize.

Speaker 5 (42:44):
The intafada that's not LANGUAGE that.

Speaker 6 (42:46):
I use the LANGUAGE that i use and the LANGUAGE
that i will continue to use to lead the city
is that which speaks clearly to, my intent which is
an intent grounded in a belief in universal. Human rights
and ultimately that's what is the foundation of some much of,
my politics the belief that freedom and justice and safety
are things that to have meaning have to be applied to,
all people and That includes Israelis and.

Speaker 7 (43:07):
Palestinians's life but.

Speaker 5 (43:08):
Do you, Actually now i'm Gonna Stop christian walker there
and make. A point do you know what you?

Speaker 4 (43:12):
Just heard you just heard the same arguments that are
made by people In The deep south About The confederate.

Speaker 5 (43:18):
Battle flag it's, about heritage.

Speaker 4 (43:21):
NOT hate, I mean i have heard this exact, Same
argument and you have to be wilfully ignorant to Be
mom donnie and pretend like Globalize the intifada is not
ever taken by anyone to mean a call. To isolands
you have to be so, wilfully ignorant just like the
people In the south have to be wilfully ignorant about

(43:43):
What the confederate battle was, all about which is slavery
and the right to keep other human beings.

Speaker 5 (43:48):
As, slaves right they will be.

Speaker 4 (43:50):
Wilfully ignorant about, that fact and they will, be, LIKE
well i don't see the flag like that. At all
that's not, how, well sorry that ship sailed a long.
Time ago we've talked about this on the.

Speaker 5 (43:59):
Show before.

Speaker 4 (44:00):
The swastika the symbol of the swastika has been used
for centuries in. Religious ways but guess What the nazis
ruined that. For, everybody now when you see, a swastika
you know what you Think Of nazi germany for. Good
reason they successfully, commandeered something just. Like globalizing indevada has
been successfully commandeered by those wanting to do Harm. To

(44:24):
jews and for him to act like he's just going
to redefine what that means. Is Insulting but I'll Let
kristin walker, follow up because she really pushed him truly.

Speaker 9 (44:33):
CONDEMN it i think that's the question and the outstanding
issue that a number, of people both Of the jewish
faith and, Beyond have do you condemn that phase globalize,
the indefado which a lot of people here as a
call to Violence.

Speaker 5 (44:46):
Against jews i've.

Speaker 6 (44:47):
Heard From Many Jewish new yorkers who have shared their concerns,
with me especially in light of the horrific attacks that
we Saw, in washington. D c And in Colder, In,
boulder colorado about this moment Of anti semitism in our
country and in. Our City and i've heard, those Fears
and i've had, those conversations and ultimately they are part
and parcel of why in My campaign i've put forward

(45:08):
a commitment to increase funding for anti hate crime programming
by eight.

Speaker 7 (45:12):
HUNDRED percent i don't believe that.

Speaker 6 (45:14):
The role of the mayor is to police speech in,
the manner especially of That Of, donald trump who has
Put One new yorker in jail who has just returned to,
His Family, mahamud khalil for that very supposed crime. Of,
speech ULTIMATELY what I think i need to show is
the ability to not only talk, about something but to
tackle it and to make clear that there's no room

(45:34):
For anti semitism in the city and we have to
root out that bigotry and ultimately we do that through.
The actions and that is. THE mayor i will be
one That Protects Jewish new yorkers and lives up to
that commitment through the WORK that.

Speaker 4 (45:44):
I do so he, presses him and he says he
doubles down, And, says hey you, know what, as mayor
it's not my job to. Police, speech really what if
somebody was out there saying, islamophobic stuff would you?

Speaker 5 (45:59):
CONDEMN that.

Speaker 7 (46:01):
I mean The.

Speaker 4 (46:04):
Artfulness and this is this guy for being. So, young
boy he's great at talking around what he doesn't want.
To say she asks a very direct question and he
Launches into i've heard about, people's fears.

Speaker 5 (46:18):
NOT yeah i wish they wouldn't use.

Speaker 4 (46:19):
THAT language i realized that it is deeply triggering for
the people that, hear IT and i wish they would choose.

Speaker 5 (46:25):
Something, else.

Speaker 4 (46:27):
Okay that's not policing, the language but at least it's somewhat.
A Condemnation, kristin walker to, your credit keeps going.

Speaker 9 (46:35):
People quickly for the people who care about the language
and who feel really concerned by, that phrase why not just?

Speaker 7 (46:41):
Condemn it my concern is.

Speaker 6 (46:47):
To start to walk down the line of language and
making clear WHAT language i believe is permissible or impermissible
takes me into a place similar to that Of, the
president who is looking to do those very kinds, of
things putting people in jail for writing an, op ed
putting them in jail. For, protesting ultimately it's not LANGUAGE that.
I use IT'S language i understand there are, concerns about

(47:07):
AND what i will do is showcase my vision for
the city through.

Speaker 4 (47:11):
My work so he just basically wraps himself in some
Kind Of first. Amendment flag and don't get, me wrong,
YOU guys i think you know if you've listened to,
The show I'm A first. AMENDMENT absolutist i will defend
your right to STAY stuff i find horrific because without,
free speech nothing. Else matters we all, Know this so

(47:31):
it's super ironic that this guy is now wrapping himself
in some sort of shroud of. Free speech he's not
the Mayor Of, new york to, Be clear he's not
passing laws telling people they can't say. These things that
would Be A first. Amendment violation to express as a
candidate that you think maybe perhaps that language is inflammatory

(47:53):
to the city that you want to lead that probably
has The most jews in a single space than anywhere
else In The united States.

Speaker 5 (48:02):
Of america.

Speaker 4 (48:05):
I've got, to wonder and you, Know what i'm going
to reach out to some of My favorite jews who
have friends all over the country, And say i'd.

Speaker 5 (48:12):
Love to talk To Some New york.

Speaker 4 (48:14):
Jews now i'd love to know how, they're feeling what,
they're feeling and what they're going to do, about it
because right now there's a lot Of secular Jews In
new york who are probably. Very torn they're not necessarily Engaged,
on israel they don't necessarily Care, about israel but at the,
same time how can you not.

Speaker 5 (48:31):
Feel attacked we haven't even gotten into the other parts
of this.

Speaker 4 (48:36):
GUY'S policies i saw one today where he is going
to Buy, up now this is what, he says is
going to use city funds to buy up Properties In New.

Speaker 5 (48:45):
York city he's.

Speaker 4 (48:46):
Going to tear down the buildings that, are there and
he's gonna build communes in. Their place and the communes
are going, to have, you know like housing, for everyone
and then they're going to have a garden that people
can work in and raise flowers. And whatnot AND then
i don't know how exactly you get everyone to, contribute,
EQUALLY right i had a. Fascinating conversation this was let's

(49:10):
think of what year. This was this was right after nine,
to eleven and probably the next year it might have been.
The anniversary and the radio STATION that i was with
was doing a big sort of, commemorative event and there
was a lot of, people THERE and i was chatting
with all these different sorts. Of PEOPLE and i had
a conversation with a friend of mine's mother and, she said,

(49:32):
you KNOW when i, was young if this, HAD happened.

Speaker 5 (49:35):
I wouldn't be, here to, you know mark.

Speaker 3 (49:38):
This day in a.

Speaker 4 (49:39):
Serious fashion, SHE'S like i was so DUMB when i.
Was young so she was young at the end of,
the sixties and, BY young i mean. Early, adulthood okay
so we're talking about you're able to make your own
choices and, you know kind of live your, own life so.
Early adulthood and. She moved she told me a story
of how she moved to a Commune. In CALIFORNIA and
i don't know where the. Commune was she, TOLD me i,

(49:59):
don't remember it's, not important and, she said for the
first seven or, eight months it was the most magical
place in the world because everybody at the commune was
there with the same level. Of commitment they built the
commune from the. Ground up they planted the, garden together
they built where they the, living quarters they built them
with their, own hands and they all work collaboratively to

(50:21):
make all. This, happen well after about eight or, nine
months there were some people at the commune who missed
their families and they wanted to, go home or they
kind of got weary of living off the land and
that sort of, hippie lifestyle so. They left so they
started bringing in. Newer people and the newer people had
heard about this place where you could go and you
don't have to have, a job and you don't have
to answer to, the man and there was food and

(50:44):
then like, every night there was a. Drum circle and
so these new people came in and they came in
with a completely, different mindset and that mindset was what
are you going to do? For me and she said
it took about three more months for the entire commune
to collapse because more and more mootures kept showing up
to the commune and the little core group that had
started the commune ended up doing all the work while

(51:08):
all the moochers sat around smoke pot and played drums.

Speaker 5 (51:10):
All day and that's how that is how. Socialism goes you.

Speaker 4 (51:19):
End up with an elite group of people who are quote.

Speaker 7 (51:21):
In charge of.

Speaker 5 (51:22):
The, People right they're just the people that are in
charge of.

Speaker 4 (51:26):
The people even though all people, are equal these people
are in charge of the people who. ARE equal, i
Mean As george orwell said, so brilliantly some animals are
more equal. Than others so how in the world does
this guy think he's going To Get new yorkers to
commit to working enough time in the garden or on
building maintenance or whatever such crap needs to be done in.

(51:48):
A commune, i mean this is just the most pie
in the sky idiotic THINKING that i have. Ever heard and,
guess what we already tried it In The united States,
of america well before we Were The united States.

Speaker 5 (52:01):
Of america.

Speaker 4 (52:03):
The first settlers to, this CONTINENT or i should say
white settlers to. This continent just to, be clear they
were a. Socialist group they were going to, share everything
and guess.

Speaker 5 (52:16):
What happened it killed most.

Speaker 7 (52:18):
Of them.

Speaker 5 (52:20):
We've already done.

Speaker 4 (52:20):
This dance this dance has been tried over and over
and over and over and. Over again so now we
have a good dose, of socialism which only leads to
communism because this guy's already said he's after the means,
of production and now it's mixed in with a healthy
dose Of. Anti semitism and the worst, part is the
absolute worst part about this Is The democratic party is

(52:41):
wrapping this guy in their arms because they know he
is their best chance to Win In New.

Speaker 5 (52:46):
York city and that's.

Speaker 7 (52:49):
Just gross.

Speaker 4 (52:51):
When we, GET back i have some gallop polling that is,
also gross, and honestly it does not bode Well for
democrats in this country because it asks about being proud
Of The united are you proud to Be?

Speaker 5 (53:07):
An AMERICAN and i will, tell you no matter who is,
in charge no matter HOW.

Speaker 4 (53:13):
Wrong i think the president Of The united STATES is
i am proud to Be. An American when i'm in
a foreign country and someone asks Me where, I'M from
i TELL them i am From The united States of America.

Speaker 5 (53:25):
In colorado that IS what i.

Speaker 4 (53:27):
Tell them and by, the way when someone in another
country asks you where, you're from Don't.

Speaker 5 (53:32):
Say, castle rock, No Offense.

Speaker 4 (53:35):
CASTLE rock i just shows you out a, thin air
just Say The united States. Of american if they want,
more information they. Will ask we're the only country in
the world that. Does that by, the way everybody Else,
says japan, You, know, Britain whatever we're the only ones
that lead with, our hometown like everybody should know where.

Speaker 5 (53:53):
That Is and god bless us. For it i'll. Love
it just let, you, know Though.

Speaker 4 (53:58):
The democratic party has to do so something About, anti
semitism and instead they're elevating a guy who is just steeped.
IN it i don't know how this ends to be,
perfectly Honest but i'm glad it's not my party doing
THAT that i have to, Worry about not. This, time
anyway this is kind of. Good News Governor jared polis
has ensured that about two hundred and fifty thousand dollars

(54:21):
will be in place for places of worship for security.
And PROTECTION and i absolutely hate that this is where.
WE are, i mean this is absolutely terrible that. This is,
you know what we've been reduced to is giving out
grants so people can go to. Church safely and yet here,

(54:44):
we are so it's not just. For synagogues it's not
just for, you, know churches it is for any organization
that would like to shore up security at. Their facilities,
of course the Attacks and boulder did not happen on,
church property but as a group of people marching on
Behalf of. Jewish hostages for the, MOST part i don't

(55:07):
know if there are any non jew. Hostages left many
non jew hostages, were TAKEN but i don't know the
status of all the ones who.

Speaker 5 (55:15):
Were left but that's.

Speaker 3 (55:17):
Good.

Speaker 4 (55:17):
News hey remember just, last week wait a story of
the Guy On Cherry creek trail who was just, you
know no, big wolf just chasing people. With machetes, SO weird, i,
KNOW right, i mean just. So strange now we got
a Guy in bolder chasing people with a.

Speaker 5 (55:35):
Heavy, chain yeah so.

Speaker 4 (55:38):
That's fantastic guess what both of these guys more than
likely have. In common they are both drug addicts more
than likely maybe the mentally ill. As well but both
of them live on the streets where not only are they,
harming themselves now they're harming other people in. The Community
but i'm sure they'll. Be fine they caught, the GUY
and i know you're SHOCKED as i was to read.

(56:00):
This line when officers searched, the man they found a
small amount of cash as well as methamphetamine and a.
Glass pipe color, me, Shocked absolutely color. Me shocked now
what else do we have to deal with in this next.
Upcoming Year The independence institute did, a really really good

(56:23):
twenty twenty five legislative, wrap up and the, biggest one
the biggest one that we have to deal with it
goes into, effect today is the new massive number of
hoops that people have to jump through to get a
concealed carry permit here in the State. Of, colorado NOW
if i were an organization that was the type to

(56:45):
sue over, SUCH things i would find a person who
is in a high crime neighborhood who lives paycheck, to
paycheck and those paychecks aren't, very big and they want
to become a concealed carry permit to argue, that, this
essentially this tax On The, second amendment has created a
situation where we're only disarming, poor people or at least

(57:09):
we're only allowing poor people to be armed legally.

Speaker 7 (57:13):
In order to.

Speaker 4 (57:14):
Protect themselves we'll see and the texture who says On
The Common spirit health text line at five sixty Six,
nine oh they just need. A, house yeah.

Speaker 5 (57:23):
Exactly. Right, yeah anyway.

Speaker 4 (57:29):
That bill about conceal carry has gone into, Effect today
so if you are wanting a conceal carry, permit holder
prepared to have to do a whole bunch.

Speaker 5 (57:38):
More than you.

Speaker 4 (57:38):
Did yesterday now the real kick in the teeth here
on this one is this IS not, i bet this
doesn't prevent a single, gun crime, not one because people
who pursue a conceal carry permit are already demonstrating the
fact that they are law. Abiding citizens otherwise they would

(57:59):
just put a gun in their way and go about.

Speaker 5 (58:01):
Their business but that's not what.

Speaker 4 (58:03):
They're doing they're already demonstrating their willingness to adhere to.

Speaker 5 (58:07):
The law so this is not going to do a.
Damn thing.

Speaker 4 (58:11):
It's another frustrating example of performative Lawmaking.

Speaker 5 (58:14):
By, democrats, hey look we did something of that. Gun
control no, You, didn't no.

Speaker 4 (58:19):
You didn't you just probably disarmed someone who maybe legally
could have stopped someone else from killing. Somebody else, but
hey whatever you Do. You, mandy hey the guy with
the meth and, the money where do you think he
got the money? From panhandling that's why we should not. Be,
Panhandling okay i'm glad you brought up PANHANDLING because i

(58:41):
forgot to talk. About, something okay EVERY day i Come
from south on twenty FIVE and i drive Up to
BELLEVUE and i get Off the bellevue.

Speaker 5 (58:48):
Exit and go left to come to the.

Speaker 4 (58:50):
Radio Station so i'm going north on, Twenty five i'm
going Left onto West. Onto bellevue and not, every day
but every so often there's a panne at. That corner and,
generally speaking they look the way that you would think panhandlers.
Would look they're kind, of scrawny they look like there
may be in the throes. Of addiction it's always really sad.

Speaker 6 (59:12):
To me.

Speaker 4 (59:14):
But as a single woman in, A car i'm not
going to roll down the window and tell Them that
i'm gonna say a little prayer, for HIM because i
just don't. FEEL safe i do say a little prayer,
for him to. Be clear but the, Other day i'm
COMING off i, twenty five turning Left on bellevue and
there's a guy sitting at. That Intersection and i'm not

(59:36):
gonna say this guy was, a POSER because i don't know,
anybody's circumstance but dude was wearing relatively new looking like
like higher, end sandals you KNOW what, i mean like
sports sandals that everybody wears in.

Speaker 5 (59:52):
The mountains he had on an ice bear of.

Speaker 4 (59:55):
Plaid shorts he had on a clean, Collared shirt he was,
clean shaven and he had on a new. Looking Hat
and duke did not look like he had missed a
meal in, some time if you KNOW what. I mean he,
wasn't fat but he was definitely. Well FED and i thought,
to myself what in, the world what are? We doing
and by, the way the guy looked to be about
forty in his, MID forties i, Would GUESS and i thought,

(01:00:17):
to myself what has to happen to make, that guy
who looked perfectly capable of going out and getting some
kind of work take to the side of the road
as an option for any kind of. MONEY situation i
REALIZED that i, am Proud and i'm proud in the

(01:00:38):
WAY that i fully believe THAT if i fell absolutely
on my face and, LOST everything i would somehow find
a way to keep it. All TOGETHER and i had
people in my family that have lost everything and somehow
found a way to keep it all together and made
it back and, bounced BACK and, i realized not everybody's built,
like that not everybody's wired, like that not everybody's. Like

(01:01:00):
THAT but i honestly just unless everything and everyone around
me had burned to the GROUND and i had a,
CHILD defeat i just cannot imagine putting myself out.

Speaker 5 (01:01:11):
AND begging i don't know what that guy's.

Speaker 4 (01:01:14):
SITUATION was i have, no IDEA and i probably shouldn't
pass judgment not knowing his situation and what, he's doing
but it was so jarring.

Speaker 5 (01:01:22):
TO me i almost rolled down, my window, was, like
dude what are? You, doing like Go.

Speaker 4 (01:01:26):
On LinkedIn i'm sure you have a. Profile there that's
how he. Looked like you should Have a. LinkedIn profile
definitely not your, normal strong outlooking person on the side of.

Speaker 5 (01:01:36):
The road it, was weird just very.

Speaker 7 (01:01:39):
Very weird.

Speaker 5 (01:01:41):
Pays better than the trash wages in, this state Says.
This texter.

Speaker 4 (01:01:46):
One of the great Things that i'm not trying to
be Snarky text i'm. Really not one of the great
things about our country. Is portability and if this state
is not working for you financially, or whatever start seeking
a moved someplace that might be better suited. FOR you
i hate to say THAT because i think this state,
is AMAZING and i think it's being driven into the
ground by bad politics and bad politicians and bad choices

(01:02:10):
and bad. Decision making all kinds of bad going on
right Now. In colorado but that's one of the great
things About The united States.

Speaker 5 (01:02:16):
Of america we can pick up.

Speaker 3 (01:02:17):
And go.

Speaker 5 (01:02:20):
Just don't go without. A job for the Love.

Speaker 4 (01:02:22):
Of god i've been Talking About Soft white underbelly, a
lot the YouTube SHOW that i watched quite, a bit
and one of the most consistent reasons people end up
on skid Row in california is they moved from somewhere
else and had no job, lined up no savings to get.

Speaker 5 (01:02:40):
THEM through, i mean they.

Speaker 4 (01:02:41):
Had nothing they just Moved. To la they were gonna
make IT. In la and they're not making It in la. At,
all MANDY when i Lived, IN chicago i would have
to take the train in and out of, the CITY
and i got to talking to this guy on the
platform and he. Was panhandling he said he worked two
hours in the morning during, rush hour two hours in
the evening during, rush hour and he was making over

(01:03:02):
thirty grand. A year this was nineteen. Ninety seven this
is EXACTLY why i do not give. TO panhandlers i
don't give to PANHANDLERS because i always Think Of bob
kte's warning about giving, to panhandlers and, that is when
you give money, to panhandlers you're just buying their death
on the.

Speaker 5 (01:03:17):
Installment plan THAT'S what i. Think, Of. Yep mandy i've
known a couple of people now.

Speaker 4 (01:03:26):
That have had jobs in their, spare time they panhandle
just because it's. Easy money my pride would not allow
me to.

Speaker 3 (01:03:32):
Do that it just.

Speaker 4 (01:03:34):
WOULD not i would have to be beyond desperate to
put myself in. THAT situation I just i don't understand
that mentality. At all are you proud to Be? An
american very? Simple question and if the answer, is no
what has to happen to make you proud to Be?
An american we've got gallup asking, that question and they've

(01:03:56):
done so since at least two thousand, and one they asked,
the question how.

Speaker 5 (01:04:00):
Proud are you to Be?

Speaker 4 (01:04:01):
An american, extremely proud, very proud, moderately proud only a,
little proud.

Speaker 5 (01:04:06):
Or not proud? At all.

Speaker 4 (01:04:10):
Since two thousand, And one republicans have been, remarkably consistent
the lowest they've ever dipped FROM where i, can see
looks to be about eighty. Two percent, right now they're
sitting at ninety two percent proud to Be. An american
the dips did occur at the end Of the obama

(01:04:31):
administration and During the, biden administration but again did not
go below eighty two Percent of republicans saying they are
proud to Be.

Speaker 5 (01:04:41):
An, american now let's talk About.

Speaker 3 (01:04:42):
The.

Speaker 4 (01:04:42):
Democrats independence by, the way let's start with. The Independence.
First independence back in two thousand, and one they were
eighty four percent proud to Be. An american in their
line has been somewhat a little, bit bumpy but pretty
much moving on a slightly. Downward trajectory the downward trajectory

(01:05:06):
accelerated during The first, trump administration and now it sits
at fifty, three percent fifty three percent who are extremely
or very proud to Be. An american.

Speaker 6 (01:05:20):
How.

Speaker 5 (01:05:20):
About, democrats well back in two thousand.

Speaker 7 (01:05:23):
And one.

Speaker 4 (01:05:25):
Democrats hit what was almost. Their high the highest they've
ever been is a little over. Ninety percent ninety Percent
of democrats are proud To be that was way back
after nine. To, eleven okay, since then it's been a
pretty solid just, you know it's it's not A bumpy,

(01:05:46):
i mean it's not a, straight line but it's been
moving in the. Wrong direction it cratered during The first.
Trump administration it barely recovered During the. Biden administration During the,
biden mistration only sixty Percent of democrats said they were
proud To. Be americans, right now you know what that?
Number is thirty six Percent of democrats say they're proud

(01:06:09):
to Be.

Speaker 5 (01:06:09):
An american you.

Speaker 4 (01:06:10):
Know Why because republicans are proud to Be an american
because the ideals that the country. Stands for because we believe,
in freedom we believe in freedom, of speech we understand
the power Of The. Second amendment we look At the
constitution as an. Aspirational, document yeah we fall in short in,
some areas but we should never start aspiring to the

(01:06:31):
ideals codified In. The constitution That's why conservatives are overwhelmingly
proud To, be americans even when the other political party is.

Speaker 5 (01:06:40):
In, CHARGE remember.

Speaker 4 (01:06:43):
I mean back after nine, to eleven it was like
ninety nine Percent of republicans were proud To. Be americans
so the Swing for republicans is, ninety percent well maybe
eighty two percent to one hundred percent proud or extremely
proud To. Be Americans, for democrats if they're not, in
charge they don't love, the country they don't feel good,
about it they're not proud To. Be american now if

(01:07:05):
their team's, in charge well then they perk right. Up
again and. That's gross it's. Just gross, it's shortsighted.

Speaker 5 (01:07:15):
It's foolish it shows to me that you have absolutely.

Speaker 4 (01:07:20):
No understanding of how countries around the, world work and
how they don't enjoy the same freedoms and the same
luxuries that, we enjoy and that they don't have the
same access to opportunity that.

Speaker 5 (01:07:32):
We ENJOY.

Speaker 4 (01:07:34):
And i really Believe the democrats really think we're walking
Around At handmaid's. TALES outfits i forgot mine today or
maybe you know my. KEY job i don't know what
they think. We're doing american women have, more freedoms, more
OPPORTUNITY and i mean than a vast majority of nations around.
The world there's maybe a handful of nations where women

(01:07:54):
have achieved at the levels that we have achieved here
In The. United states and you would think that we
were all being shage of stoves and made to be
barefoot and pregnant from here. On out from the way
some of these. Women act it's so stupid and it's performative,
and RIDICULOUS and i think they know. It now it
gets even worse when we look at age GROUPS.

Speaker 5 (01:08:18):
Gen z GUYS. Gen z.

Speaker 4 (01:08:21):
What percentage OF gen z is extremely proud or very
proud to Be? An AMERICAN gen z sits at a
whopping forty. One percent it's amazing what feeding kids and
students a steady Diet of america bad in our schools
can do for how they feel about.

Speaker 5 (01:08:39):
This country and.

Speaker 4 (01:08:39):
If you think that's not a, big deal it's a
huge deal because if we need them to fight on
our behalf in, the future do you really think people
who think That The united States of america is the
root of all evil are going to sign up to?
Defend it or, Even worse this is how this Idiot
In new york becomes the next nominee on the demo

(01:09:00):
Side for Mayor Of new york because they really believe
the entire capitalist system that has done more to lift
people out of poverty than any other economic system we have,
ever tried is evil because they're not getting a corner.

Speaker 5 (01:09:13):
Office and a title and. A raise, you know the
first year they're in. An office we're a deep due to.
You guys we got to, reverse this and we've got
to reverse.

Speaker 1 (01:09:22):
It Quick The Mandy connell show is Sponsored by Bell
And pollock Accident And.

Speaker 5 (01:09:27):
Injury, lawyers No It's mandy Connell.

Speaker 3 (01:09:31):
And Donam Got way study And the Nicety.

Speaker 6 (01:09:45):
And donald keith.

Speaker 5 (01:09:48):
Sad Thing, Welcome local welcome to the third hour of.

Speaker 4 (01:09:52):
The show and coming up a little bit later in,
this hour we're going to talk to someone From Jeff
Co public libraries where they are doing some interesting displaying
a veteran artwork in photography to kind of give an
outlet to veterans who use art or photography in order
to manage some of their post. Traumatic stress so we're

(01:10:15):
going to talk to him at. Two thirty in, the meantime,
boy howdy do we have a lot of stuff to,
talk about not the least of which is the big
beautiful bill did pass and it Passed.

Speaker 5 (01:10:25):
The senate now it has to go back To the house.

Speaker 4 (01:10:27):
For reconciliation there are some fiscal conservatives In the house
that are unhappy with some of the changes made In.
The Senate the senate added a lot to the cost
of an already very very, expensive bill so we will
wait to find out what's. IN it i do expect
it to pass at, this MOMENT and i do expect
it to Hit the, president's desk and by the end

(01:10:48):
of the Fourth of, July holiday i'll be able to
tell you exactly what is in the. Past, BILL now
i want to talk about this Story, from COLORADO because
i think this is really.

Speaker 5 (01:10:57):
REALLY interesting i went down a rabbit hole the.

Speaker 4 (01:11:01):
Other day and don't even ask me where, this STARTED
but i went down a rabbit hole about Homosexuality, in
iran SPECIFICALLY because i was responding to a high school classmate.
Of mine he reached out via My personal facebook page
to take me to task for my, support for as she,
called it the genocidal Regime, of israel and at one

(01:11:21):
point in, our exchange, She said iran is the one.
Showing compassion and at THAT moment i, was, like, LOOK
honey i haven't talked to you in thirty, five years
but we are going to get your little school books
ready because you're going. To SCHOOL and i very carefully
dismantled any kind of notion that she might have Had
that iran was compassionate in, any way shape. Or form

(01:11:45):
And in iran this is really ironic and kind. OF funny,
i mean, oh, hahaha funny but just kind. Of Funny,
in iran they will support you in changing your gender
because they don't want you to.

Speaker 3 (01:11:57):
Be gay.

Speaker 4 (01:11:59):
So they support people having all the surgery to change
their gender in order to get rid of any gay People.
In IRAN and i will never Forget when President A
mono deisade Was At columbia university giving. A speech do
you guys, remember this and, somebody said ask something about
gay People, in iran and he looked at them with
a straight face, and, said oh there.

Speaker 5 (01:12:20):
Are no gay People.

Speaker 4 (01:12:20):
In, iran well that's because they try to get them
to change gender so they're no. Longer gay it's fascinating
when you look at what's happening, over here when so
many kids that are probably just gay are being rushed into.
TRANS surgeries, I mean i've said. IT before i do
think it's partly at least to eliminate. GAY people, i

(01:12:41):
mean they can't be gay if you change.

Speaker 5 (01:12:43):
Their, gender RIGHT am?

Speaker 7 (01:12:44):
I right.

Speaker 4 (01:12:46):
Anytime government gets involved with this kind, Of stuff i'm
always a little. Bit leary and though for a LONG
time i have supported the idea of. Assisted suicide in,
my Mind when i'm thinking of, Assistants suicide i'm thinking
about people like my late brother.

Speaker 5 (01:13:04):
In, law phil who suffered From lou.

Speaker 4 (01:13:07):
Garrick's disease and if you've never seen anyone kind of
go through the process of als and how the body
becomes diminished in very uneven and very, unpleasant ways and
the suffering really. Kicks in in, My mind i'm thinking
someone who is at the end of an illness, like
that or they can no longer feed themselves and they

(01:13:29):
can no longer function. By themselves if, they, SAY look
i just want to, check, OUT right i just want to.

Speaker 5 (01:13:33):
Be done in, my mind, it's like.

Speaker 4 (01:13:36):
You, know what give them a big old dos a
morphian or a fentanyl or whatever and send them off.

Speaker 5 (01:13:41):
Into dreamland but that's not at all how.

Speaker 4 (01:13:44):
It's, played Out and colorado's assisted living or exists a
living assisted suicide law is now being challenged in. Federal
court who's challenging it people. WITH disabilities a federal lawsuit was,
filed yesterday and it Argues That colorado's End Of Life
options act is unconstitutional and discriminates against people. With disabilities

(01:14:08):
it also alleges the law has been applied to individuals
who are not. Terminally Ill, matt valieri executive director Of
the Institute For patient's rights and one of, the plaintiffs
says that the law Violates the Americans With, Disabilities acts
SECTION five ho four Of The, rehabilitation act and parts
OF The. Us constitution what's, The, problem well there's a

(01:14:31):
case involving a twenty eight year old woman who suffered.
From anorexia she was in hospice care because of, her
anorexia because anorexia does a number on, the body and
she was given a lethal prescription while in. Hospice care
but guess what. She recovered she recovered from. Her anorexia
had she gotten that, prescription filled she would have never

(01:14:54):
recovered from. Her Anorexia and, valieri said some people get,
suicide prevention other people get. Suicide help the people who
get suicide help are all people.

Speaker 5 (01:15:06):
WITH disabilities, i mean that's a pretty.

Speaker 4 (01:15:10):
Big accusation, and essentially what they're arguing is that the
law is merely taking out, disabled people and they're taking
them out when they have conditions that are not.

Speaker 5 (01:15:24):
Necessarily, fatal.

Speaker 4 (01:15:26):
Now, of course people who support the law say it sets,
forth vigorous, rigorous safeguards including that the requirement that the
individuals must have the capacity to make informed health. Care
decisions we've already seen this play Out. In Canada, In
canada oh, my goodness the assisted suicide Stuff in canada
is out. Of control they're killing Everybody. IN canada, i

(01:15:49):
mean you're, Just like i'm having a. Bad day canada,
is like do you want?

Speaker 5 (01:15:52):
Some bills.

Speaker 4 (01:15:54):
Hang on i'm pulling this up. RIGHT now i pulled
this up the other, day too for no. Apparent reason according,
to Statistics, in canada the rate of medical assistance in
dyeing was poor in twenty twenty three was four point
seven per one. Thousand deaths that's an increase of four
point two per. Thousand deaths underlying medical conditions, included cancer,

(01:16:18):
cardiovascular diseases and quote.

Speaker 5 (01:16:21):
Other conditions? What what what are what are the? Other
conditions what are the? Other can? Hang on let me get.

Speaker 4 (01:16:32):
This down I'M using ai now what are the? Other
conditions and let's see what? That says, Google, THINKING ah i. Hate,
that okay you Know WHAT? Google ai you're. Useless anyway
in twenty, twenty three there were, fifteen thousand three hundred
and forty three medically assisted Deaths. In canada that's four

(01:16:55):
point seven percent of. All deaths that's a fifteen point
eight increase from the number of deaths in twenty.

Speaker 5 (01:17:00):
Twenty two.

Speaker 4 (01:17:03):
I'm just afraid that this person with disabilities, is correct
that the treatment of who gets urged to Take The
great dirt nap is bending in one direction towards people
that other people think, To, THEMSELVES.

Speaker 5 (01:17:21):
Oh i wouldn't want to live.

Speaker 6 (01:17:22):
LIKE this.

Speaker 5 (01:17:24):
I wouldn't want to live.

Speaker 1 (01:17:24):
LIKE this.

Speaker 5 (01:17:28):
I think that's something that needs to.

Speaker 4 (01:17:29):
Be explored And again, I'm, like okay did my libertarianus
unleash another monster that can't be put back in?

Speaker 5 (01:17:36):
THE bottle i. DON'T know i can see both sides of.

Speaker 4 (01:17:40):
The issue BUT when i think, of guardrails they are
almost so narrow as to be right next to, each
other where you don't even have to strain to reach
one one to. The, other obviously that's not quite what's going.
On here we'll follow this case as it works through.
The courts it is a, short week. You guys we've
got some Special Programming. On friday we've Got a Taking
for granted marathon that you can listen to and some

(01:18:03):
iHeart programming on Fourth. Of july what are your plans
for The? Fourth anthony you got? Big plans are you
doing stuff?

Speaker 7 (01:18:09):
The Racetrack racetrack Friday and saturday and then Off to Vegas?

Speaker 5 (01:18:13):
On sunday how long you're you gonna Be in Vegas?

Speaker 3 (01:18:16):
Till?

Speaker 7 (01:18:16):
Wednesday nice half? A week WHO do?

Speaker 10 (01:18:18):
I have do?

Speaker 7 (01:18:19):
You, know noe, no clue zach. Or grant, Either way.

Speaker 4 (01:18:23):
I'm winning it's fine gone or the DAYS when i would,
be like, oh god, oh. No no our team of producers,
right now. CHEF'S kiss i love working with all. Of
Them and i'm not just, Saying, that hey good News,
for syria and this is kind. Of important trump has
issued an order lifting a Lot of. Syrian sanctions Now

(01:18:48):
since Mishi el asad had to exit, stage left a
sort of interim government is trying to. Take hold there's
been some positive movement in the terms that they are
asking or demanding that has believed their area. Has below
Exists in, lebanon mostly but it is Also. In syria
siria shares a Border. With israel i've been, To it i've.
Seen it siria has also been decimated by years of,

(01:19:11):
civil war and you know Dictatorship by Bashira. Al assade
now he does not rescind all of. The orders there
are some sanctions still imposed on Former president Bashi, el
assad his aids and family members and stuff. Like that
and it also leaves intact sanctions Passed by congress that

(01:19:32):
target anyone doing business with or offering Support to siria's
military intelligence or other. Suspect institutions so why is?

Speaker 5 (01:19:39):
This important.

Speaker 4 (01:19:42):
It's IMPORTANT and i read this ARTICLE and i did
not run with it yesterday because nobody else. Confirmed It
in israel pretty much came out, and, said yeah we're not.
Doing that but there is Talk that trump is trying
to Bring More middle eastern countries Into The. Abraham, accords
Now The abraham accords were an Agreement Between saudi ARABIA

(01:20:03):
and I think i can't remember which other four or
five nations, signed on but these Are all, muslim nations
and it was an agreement that they would start the
process to Begin recognizing israel And recognizing israel's right.

Speaker 5 (01:20:17):
To exist that's a very big deal In The.

Speaker 4 (01:20:19):
Middle East and trump wants to Expand The abraham accords
and He wants syria to be a part.

Speaker 3 (01:20:24):
OF that.

Speaker 5 (01:20:26):
I will SAY that, i think and this.

Speaker 4 (01:20:30):
Is just me speculating just the way things have, been
Going that trump's war negotiations must go like this because
he just successfully helped.

Speaker 5 (01:20:39):
Negotiate peace hang on, one second.

Speaker 4 (01:20:44):
Let me just pull this up. VERY quickly i had
this on the blog some. Time Ago but rwanda And
The democratic Republic of congo have been at war for.
Forty years. Forty years they've, been fighting thousands and thousands of,
young men and, you know people have, been killed and
it's just been an absolute disaster for two of the
poorest places on, The planet rwanda And The democratic Republic.

(01:21:08):
Of congo but Yet Somehow donald trump got these two
sides together and managed to negotiate some kind.

Speaker 5 (01:21:17):
Of PEACE and i think it was something.

Speaker 4 (01:21:21):
Like this both of these nations have just vast stores
of things like rare earth minerals that could be successfully
mine to greatly enrich the countries in which, they are
and he, essentially, said look you're wasting, your time you're wasting,
your energy you're wasting, your treasure and your young men
fighting over stuff that is so stupid when you could

(01:21:41):
be both exploiting those resources and bringing your people out.
OF poverty i think that's how he does every, war
negotiation which is why it didn't Work with Russia and
ukraine because they. Don't care russia has its ideological reasons
for doing what. It's Doing in ukraine is fighting for its,
Very existence so talking about economic development isn't necessarily going

(01:22:01):
to move. The needle but Here in rwanda And The
democratic Republic, of congo yeah it's moved. The Needle and
i'm wondering if he Goes to syria and Says, to, Syria,
looks siri here. We go you guys could be part
of A Vibrant middle eastern economy with other nations that

(01:22:24):
are not nearly as invested in terrorism And The great
satan and all that.

Speaker 5 (01:22:28):
Other crap do you want to be a part?

Speaker 4 (01:22:30):
Of That and syria was, Like, YES now i don't
know the ideological leanings of the current, leadership there but
in trying to bring them into the fold now and
allowing them to do some economic development that might be
a Positive.

Speaker 5 (01:22:46):
For syria.

Speaker 4 (01:22:49):
It's better than, the alternative which we've done over and,
over again which clearly does, not work which is to
excommunicate these people and keep them on the fringes and
not engage in. This way be pretty happy, About that
pretty happy. About, That anyway we're going to take a quick.

Speaker 5 (01:23:05):
Time out when we. GET back i have a question.

Speaker 4 (01:23:08):
For you it's a very, controversial question AND when i
read the, ACCOMPANYING article i went into it like all,
bowed up ready to.

Speaker 5 (01:23:17):
Hate It but i'm coming around and the question is
this is it time to ban? Left turns we'll.

Speaker 4 (01:23:26):
Do, THAT next i want to Talk To Jefferson County
Public Library Programming Coordinator sean eads about a super cool
program that they are putting together.

Speaker 5 (01:23:37):
And that you can go and.

Speaker 4 (01:23:37):
Enjoy It Jefferson County. Public, libraries sean welcome to. The
show first, of, all.

Speaker 6 (01:23:43):
Well thank.

Speaker 5 (01:23:44):
You, many well let's talk about what's.

Speaker 4 (01:23:47):
Going on you guys have teamed up WITH the vfw
And The Denver vet center to do what what's happening.

Speaker 8 (01:23:56):
Well In the in the Month, of july we seven
of our ten libraries are going to host art displays
by these very, talented veterans a combination of photography and
painting in, most cases and we are going to host
receptions for them also throughout. The month we invite people

(01:24:20):
to come and both to experience the art and to
hear they're really amazing and. Inspirational stories how did you
become aware of?

Speaker 4 (01:24:32):
The FACT and i KNOW that vfw number One in
DENVER is i think REVOLUTIONIZING the vfw model by moving
away from the come and drinkier model that has been
so pervasive since probably the beginning OF the vfw and
moving into trying to really help veterans find unique in
different ways to manage post traumatic stress and other just

(01:24:57):
sort of issues that they may be. DEALING with, i
mean how did you come to find out that there is,
veteran art there is? Veteran photography how did this come into?
Your Wheelhouse.

Speaker 3 (01:25:09):
So i've.

Speaker 5 (01:25:09):
BEEN before i was.

Speaker 8 (01:25:11):
The program Coordinator for JEFF co i was a reference
librarian At The Stanley lake library really for the last,
twenty Years And, stanley blake like most of, the locations
have an, art wall and one of our regular patrons
was a Gentleman Named, charles jamison who is a member
of BOTH The Via photography group AND The Vfw, art

(01:25:34):
center and we. Started talking he was coming in our
library and many of the other libraries have these very
intensely technological like video editing and photographic, editing stations so
he was making use of that and we started we,
started talking and he was showing his Art At stanley
LAKE and i was just, incredibly impressed and he, was,

(01:25:57):
saying oh you haven't. SEEN anything, i mean he had
invited me down actually TO the vfw to meet many of,
the ARTISTS and i had long been interested in the
idea of at least like one time a year as
many of the art walls. As possible kind of being
unified and allowing them to speak is like an institutional

(01:26:19):
right away of the library's role in, the community and
you know where we stand and what, we represent what our.
Values are so it really springs out.

Speaker 5 (01:26:27):
Of that so, each.

Speaker 4 (01:26:29):
Library and there's, multiple LIBRARIES and i put a link
To The Jefferson County Public library events page so you
can if you're In jeff co or you want to
go to one. Of these they start the first ONE
that i See, Is saturday, july twelfth.

Speaker 5 (01:26:42):
And they seem to run through the end of.

Speaker 4 (01:26:45):
The month and what is going to happen at each
of these individual events at each of these, Individual libraries.

Speaker 7 (01:26:53):
We're all going to be a little.

Speaker 8 (01:26:55):
Bit different i'll be hosting. Each reception there'll be, you
know light like food, and DRINK but i want the
receptions really to follow the wishes of the artists that
are going to be. Be there in, most cases we're
talking about two artists at. Each location some locations will.

(01:27:15):
Have three some artists have asked that they would like
to do kind of like a formal talk about their
work as, an introduction, you know maybe like a power
point or. A slideshow other artists would rather make it
a little bit more low key and just, you know
kind of meet people and talk more on as a one.
On one so each one will be. Quite DIFFERENT but

(01:27:37):
i really wanted to go as the artists themselves.

Speaker 4 (01:27:40):
Would like it.

Speaker 3 (01:27:40):
To go.

Speaker 8 (01:27:42):
But, you know that's one of the whole points of,
these receptions Are you so many of our patrons do,
love art but they wouldn't necessarily want to drive Down To.
Santa fe maybe they don't want to go to The
first friday at night and they, don't feel, you know
good about driving a night or finding a, parking space
so they're kind of. Missing out this is a way

(01:28:03):
to bring those powerful stories in, the art, you know
to our community in the convenience of a.

Speaker 4 (01:28:09):
Library setting how did you guys decide what to show or, you.

Speaker 5 (01:28:13):
Know was that a decision made by.

Speaker 4 (01:28:15):
The ARTISTS so i think that's an interesting kind of
question from the Perspective of i'm always interested to see
what artists want seen versus what maybe would be curated
by someone.

Speaker 5 (01:28:26):
Else's, eye.

Speaker 8 (01:28:29):
Yeah it is completely up. TO them i mean our,
you know our art walls. Aren't huge you're not going
to be seeing an art gallery when you. Walk in,
on average each artist is going to have maybe four
to five pieces up, for display and so we're letting
them decide what's closest to. Their heart but you're going
to see a tremendous variety of art when. YOU come,

(01:28:50):
i mean if you go Down, to lakewood, for example
you'll see an Artist Named jerry royel who really focus
on these striking historical Representations of Chicanos And native americans
and Like the, southwest experience and that's part of his.
Own heritage if you were to Go To stanley lake,

(01:29:10):
right now you'll see the work of an Artist Named
John dea starling who was In the navy and is
really interested in like science fiction and fantasy and like
think of like space opera and anime and so her work.
Reflects That, charles JAMISON who, i mentioned will be Showing

(01:29:31):
at arvada and he is really kind of like a
landscape and. Architecture photographer so.

Speaker 7 (01:29:37):
You're going to see a whole lot of.

Speaker 8 (01:29:39):
Different things if you think of it not so much
as a pub, pub crawl.

Speaker 7 (01:29:44):
But like a, library crawl you're going to go see.

Speaker 8 (01:29:46):
Different, THINGS well i just have.

Speaker 4 (01:29:48):
To, SAY sean i wanted to have you on the
show BECAUSE when i got this press release about, THIS
event i have long believed in the power of the
arts to. Be healing and it doesn't matter what the,
art is whether you sing or, you dance or, you
paint or you take pictures or you write or whatever,
it is or you participate in a. DRAMA class i
think that, you know doing something and creating something that

(01:30:12):
allows you to express an emotion or feeling is an,
incredibly part a big part. Of HEALING and i just
wanted to commend you for recommending That That Jefferson County
public libraries give voice, to THIS because i know that
there's going to be a veteran who sees this who
is going to, be, inspired right or even someone who's
not a veteran but is dealing with their.

Speaker 5 (01:30:33):
Own trauma who's going to?

Speaker 4 (01:30:34):
Be inspired so hats Off To Jefferson County public libraries
for doing this in the.

Speaker 5 (01:30:38):
FIRST place.

Speaker 7 (01:30:40):
I really.

Speaker 8 (01:30:41):
Appreciate that ONE thing i was saying to the ARTISTS
as i was encouraging them, to, participate was, you know
we obviously know. Artists subjective you can stare at a
painting that some maybe took somebody two years to do
and you end up shrugging at it because it, just doesn't,
you know.

Speaker 7 (01:30:56):
Move you but their stories and the stories.

Speaker 8 (01:31:00):
That you're going to hear are not subjective in. The
slightest that's really the programming element, to this in. My
opinion there's no one that you're going to go and
see this art and listen to these artists and not
come away feeling inspired and changed in. Some way and,
to me that's like the most primal basic element or
what a library program and a lot of library experience.

Speaker 4 (01:31:20):
Should Be Shawn needs he is the Director of Programming
For Jefferson County. PUBLIC libraries i really appreciate your time today,
and again thank you for giving a space for these
stories to.

Speaker 5 (01:31:29):
Be told in this art to Be shown i'm very appreciative.

Speaker 3 (01:31:32):
Of that thank you.

Speaker 5 (01:31:34):
So much thanks for having. Me on, all Right. Thanks
sean you can.

Speaker 4 (01:31:37):
See that by, the way it's seven different libraries and
they have These receptions Saturday, And sunday wednesday evening things,
like that so hopefully you can participate. As well now
to what may be the most controversial story of.

Speaker 5 (01:31:50):
The day and this is.

Speaker 4 (01:31:53):
A Story and i'm going to let you guys, know
Sometimes because i've told, you BEFORE how i do.

Speaker 5 (01:31:57):
Show, PREP like i open every ARTICLE.

Speaker 4 (01:31:59):
That i think might be interesting to, look, at right
AND so i have like forty or fifty tabs open across,
my browser AND then i go BACK and i start
reading the articles to see if they're going to make.

Speaker 5 (01:32:09):
The CUT and i saw the headline on, this One.

Speaker 4 (01:32:15):
And I'LL admit i was hate, Reading, THIS okay i
was ready to hate everything about this one. Hundred percent
the headline is here's a way to, save lives curb,
traffic jams and make commutes faster and easier bam left turns.
At INTERSECTIONS and i, Was, like oh how dumb is
this going? To be BUT then i started READING and

(01:32:39):
i for a lot of reasons which none of you.
CARE about i realize, it's okay you don't care. ABOUT
everything i have Been in denver traffic far too. Much
lately first, of all you people who do this, Every day,
HOLY mackerel i have so much respect for. Your patients
but then we Drove. In JAPAN now i didn't Drive,

(01:33:00):
in japan but we rode in these, big buses and
then we rode. In taxis and the THING that i
Noticed in japan there were. Two Things, number one nobody
is jumping. In lanes everybody's in, their lane they know where,
they're going and they are just driving in. The lanes you,
hardly ever even in super, heavy traffic and we were
in super heavy traffic, multiple times we hardly ever came

(01:33:21):
to a.

Speaker 5 (01:33:21):
Complete stop we were, going slow but we.

Speaker 4 (01:33:25):
Were going and for, some Reason if i'm going twenty miles,
an hour even fifteen miles an hour down eye, twenty
FIVE and i do that for several miles, WITHOUT stopping
i consider that.

Speaker 5 (01:33:36):
A win but that's not how. It happens you end up.

Speaker 4 (01:33:39):
Slamming on the brakes and then the whole thing backs
up and blah blah blah.

Speaker 5 (01:33:41):
Blah blah so.

Speaker 4 (01:33:43):
Anything that can make things. Work faster, i'm, Open right i'm.
Totally open listen to some of. These statistics about forty
percent of all crashes. Occurrent intersections fifty percent of those
crashes involve a, series injury twenty percent involve. A fatality

(01:34:04):
about sixty one percent of those crashes that intersections involve a.
Left turn left hand turns are generally the least frequent
movements at, an intersection so that sixty one percent is.

Speaker 5 (01:34:16):
A lot.

Speaker 4 (01:34:18):
And the problem is that when you are, turning left
there are a couple. Things happening you're looking for, oncoming
traffic so you might not see pedestrians who are crossing
the road and trying to squeeze in before you run
out of time or before.

Speaker 5 (01:34:34):
The light turns.

Speaker 4 (01:34:35):
Red again we often misjudge how much time, we have
or people coming towards us or exceeding the speed limit
and we underestimate how fast they're going and badabing. Bata
boom then we have a side, angle crash and those are.
Often Disastrous so, i'm, thinking okay what if you could
do away with sixty one percent of the forty percent.
Of accidents now you're you're making a. Big dent, but

(01:34:55):
boy went a pain in. The ass THAT'S what, I
thought but it's not necessarily showing to be. That way
roundabouts work because there's no longer a need to cross.
Opposing traffic but roundabouts have. Their drawbacks first, of all
people cannot figure out how to use a roundabout In

(01:35:15):
The united States.

Speaker 5 (01:35:16):
Of america it's much like. Zipper merging we should be
able to do. THIS people i have faith.

Speaker 4 (01:35:21):
In us but roundabouts take up a lot of space
and they are a little bit prone to gridlock if people.

Speaker 5 (01:35:27):
Do not know how to use. A roundabout so how
would you eliminate?

Speaker 4 (01:35:32):
Left, turns well obviously you'd have to go up and
go around, the block which when you're already In downtown
denver with so many one, way streets you're already doing,
that anyway that's already a thing.

Speaker 5 (01:35:42):
That's happening you're.

Speaker 4 (01:35:43):
Being forced around because the streets are one way and
there's not anything you know.

Speaker 5 (01:35:46):
About It.

Speaker 4 (01:35:48):
And i'm, telling, you guys i'd love for you to
read this story and then let's have a conversation. About,
it Mandy does Uber and lyft Exist? In japan, uber
DOES but i do not Know. About lyft we almost
had to call an uber to get back From the
buddhist temple that we. Went to because here's the funny
thing about Cabs.

Speaker 10 (01:36:09):
In.

Speaker 4 (01:36:09):
Japan taxis they have a. Taxi app they have an
app where, you can, you know call. A taxi but
if there's no taxis, near you, they're, like sorry no
taxes Are near you try again later and.

Speaker 5 (01:36:21):
You're, like, uh WHAT but i didn't TRY lyft i didn't.

Speaker 4 (01:36:25):
Have to Why doesn't colorado allow you turns at? Most
intersections you turns our recipe for, A DISASTER and i
realize that it's such a pain when you know you
can't MAKE a u turn and they have to drive
and drive and drive before you can. TURN around i,
get IT but u turns do cause a lot. Of
accidents mandy not a fan Of the michigan you turn.

(01:36:45):
Left turns single lane traffic circles. Are okay multi lane
traffic circles are too Small. In Colorado colorado springs has
a couple of unique Intersections wood Monrone at UNION and
i twenty five and CO one. P fifteen diverging diamond interchanges,
are AWESOME and i would fully expect you to see
those diverging diamond intersections that they have down there become,

(01:37:09):
the norm especially at. Interstate, interchanges right they're not complicated
at all once you. Do, it now somebody else pointed
out That In new jersey you can't make a. Left
turn And In new jersey they have these things called
jug handle intersections where if you need to, go left
then you basically go right and then kind of circle

(01:37:31):
all the way around to be able to. GO left
i still don't understand how. It works michigan has turn
lanes that are available after you make a right. HAND turn.

Speaker 10 (01:37:42):
I.

Speaker 4 (01:37:42):
Don't know and this, person said if it only saves
just one, licen mentality, please, no, no, no, no, no
guys every accident. Creates traffic every time someone gets into,
an accident it creates a massive traffic jam for. Everyone
else we're all sitting there, wasting gas wasting time because

(01:38:02):
someone got into an accident at. An intersection is not
just about the people in, the accident it's about. Everybody else.
It's insane americans think they all have the right, of
way so they just plow. Through roundabouts that's actually. Pretty,
accurate yeah banning left turns is really gonna piss off.

(01:38:23):
Semi truckers by, the way not all left turns are
Banned In, new jersey and not all left turns should

and it backs traffic all the way up because there's
another row of traffic coming, this way and they flip

on my left blanker, Right here i'm going to obstruct
traffic for at least at least a couple, of minutes and.
