Speaker 1 (00:00):
He's in studio with nine to Noon each and every
Monday around eleven o'clock.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Good Morning, my brother was going on Good Morning, Pa.
It's a beautiful, beautiful Monday morning sunshining.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Indeed, and it's going to be a beautiful Monday night
with a college basketball commencing today and Gardner Webb is
at William's Arena at the Old Barn to take on
mister Medved's team, and the sources of just informed nine
to Noon. Not only is the game on Big ten Network,
but the analyst on the microphone at the Barn is
(00:32):
Parker Fox.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
And awesome, it's not a one off.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
He's going to be doing Gophers games for Big ten Network,
including tonight at seven o'clock.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
So company collapsed from nine to noon.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Man, when you told me you were going to Chicago
or you were like seeking this and then it just
kind of drifted, which means in a roundabout way, I
thought one of my kids took the l I didn't
want to ask about it now. And you're like, I'm
at the Barn tonight, I'm an analyst with will or
Wayne Peterson, whatever the guy's name is, and so what
(01:09):
do you think about tonight? Are you in any way
nervous And is there any way nord En or I
or anybody can help you help you For tonight's Big
Big Ten Network seven o'clock Gophers basketball roll.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Thank you, And I will say you've already helped me
more than enough. So anything that that is added on
is obviously appreciated. Just the opportunity to come on here,
hang out with you guys. And like I tell people,
like people don't realize, like in between segments you'll give
me little pointers like hey you said that wrong, or hey, hey,
this is what it's supposed to be. And like how
much I appreciate you is more than like I can
even describe you, because it's a journey, right, it's a process.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
You've been in this thing for a while, so I
think for.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
Me, I mean, you're making me sound like some barbarian
people were painting O'Connell with Carson Wentz, where it's like
finish him.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
It comes from a loving place, Pa, it comes from
a loving place.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
It might be a little more of hey consider this, yes, uh,
you know what. And in looking at the Gophers basketball
coaching staff, Nico Metved's the new coach. Somebody you know
Dave Thorson, he was an assistant with you, right.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
I don't know Dave.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
I'm a fan of his from Afar and and just
he's had.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
A long, long career.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Yeah, I think where was he head coach at Sally
went Straight high school basketball or championships, Yeah, for sure.
So like I mean, when people get new jobs, generally
everybody's oot unless you're an elite basketball mine like Dave Thorson.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
So that's pretty cool there. All right, you're ready?
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Yeah, Robert v A I h O l a viola
viola or viola la vihola from San Mateo, California. Right,
and that's where Tom Brady's from. I think Aaron Rodgers too, maybe,
but Brady for sure. Okay, Quarterback country that that's also
where the track is now extinct called bay Meadow's Racecourse.
(03:02):
That's where I worked for five years, sure at bay
Meadow's Racecourse in my very first racetrack announcing career.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
As the Crow Flies.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
It's twenty five minutes south of San Francisco, so it's
kind of right in between San Francisco and Santa Clara
for the Santa Clara strunt bj om O T b
j Omett bj oh Mott. Yeah, he's Minnesota native.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
He spent a couple of years at North Dakota underneath
my head coach Paul Savor, then transferred to cal Berkeley
last year where he was out with injuries. He's going
to be a really big spark off the bench for
the Gophers team.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Maximus g I z z I Maximus Gussy is guzzy.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
He's an NAI transfer. He's in a boot right now.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
He's a little beat up and injured, but yeah, I
don't think he's going to be seeing the court in
any time anytime soon.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
With that injury.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
What do we know about Kate Tyson? Kay Tyson's a
stud man. Yeah, he was at Belmont two years ago.
He averaged sixteen Belmont team.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
And that really good balon and he shot forty seven
percent from three on five and a half attempts per game.
He then transferred to North Carolina where he got caught
behind a bunch of five stars and studs and just
didn't see the court much last year. So I think
this is a great opportunity for him to come into
a place where he has, like you know, just an
opportunity to just kind of be himself again. Shoots the
ball really well, but he can he can score on
(04:21):
three levels. Number number five. I believe his number five.
Jalen Cracker Johnson.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Yes, I thought that guy was a running back for Washington.
I always love it. Co Manross she Merritt.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Yeah, all right, So a book of Namia Turner, Grayson
Grove and you've got Gardner Webb Tonight, Garner Webb. Let's
go to the Gardner Web desk and Pepper Parker for
his big big ten debut this evening at seven o'clock
level when things go well for the kids.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
And at the Gardner Web. Gardner Web desk is Eric Northquest.
Speaker 4 (04:55):
Yes, so in your prep work and maybe I'll put
you on the spot.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
I won't.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
You got to tell me about Rochester Zone. He's a
senior forward and I can't find any stats for him.
How did how did Ben Johnson slash Nico Medved let
Reek Reek go?
Speaker 2 (05:12):
That's right, man, I actually know him decently well. Come
just from some like some other connections. Selth Sudanese connections.
Nuny Omont was a self Sudan national team player, had
a big dunk and Anthony Davis in the Olympics last year.
And he's from Ottameda, Minnesota. See Anthony Davis, the Anthony
Brow Yes against Team USA and ad tried eighties. Oh yeah, yeah,
(05:35):
geez yeah, big dunk. Nuony a little stint in the NBA,
but just a just a really close friend of mine,
Mona Medai kid. So they all have some some connections.
And he's from Rochester, like you said, he was at
Division two Drury last year played twenty seven games, only
average about four and three, but a long six nine
six ten type of wing defender. Don't think you know
(05:55):
we're talking Gardner Web here, So I don't know if
we're talking about a March madness to team unfortunately, but
they have the figure out.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
Hold on, hold on? Did she dunk?
Speaker 4 (06:06):
No?
Speaker 3 (06:06):
I'm sorry, I'm sorry to clomp.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
So college basketball season begins, including women's college basketball. So
Duke's playing Baylor on ESPN here, it's on TV in
the sixty five one carpets plus studios. Is it Tory Fournier,
Toby fourn Toby Fournier. Yeah, okay, now I may be
mistaken here. Does she have a forty inch vertical?
Speaker 3 (06:31):
Damn? Near?
Speaker 1 (06:32):
I mean I just saw that this girl jump as
high as I've ever seen a women's basketball player jump
in my life.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
You're gonna show the replay here again. No, it was
two plays ago when she walked a shock. Can she dunk? Yeah?
So how tall is she? She's probably only about six
two six three, but are you kidding me?
Speaker 2 (06:49):
She became famous about uh, probably about three years ago
for not only dunking, but like backscratch dunking.
Speaker 5 (06:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
Was the rimed eight feet? No, the rim was at
ten feet. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
I don't know if she has an in game dunk,
but there's still highlights of her throwing some pretty pretty
sweet dunks down there. Definitely the best woman dunker that
I've seen, even really since Candice Parker.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
Maybe better than Lisa Leslie having a greep over the rim.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
No, better than that, Like the she's throwing it down
with some authority, Toby, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
She flew out of nowhere with a massive vertical swattered
to shine.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
You like that one, darnold, Just the pause of the action.
That's let's talk, Toby Fordie. Well, it's all good. Yeah,
I'm Gardner web free too.
Speaker 6 (07:27):
Well.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
That's that's the thing though, is Sorry, I'd like to
hear more about Fournier because I'm about to hear you Parker,
explain why Ace Talbert is the next Ace Bailey for
the Gardner Web Running Bulldogs junior guard out of New York.
What are we looking at with the future Ace Bailey,
Ace Talbert and Gardner Webb.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
I do think he's going to be their go to guy.
I'm yet too.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
I'm gonna go shoot around after this talk to head
coach Jeremy Luthor, but Ace Talbert is going to be
their guys.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
It's Saint Francis.
Speaker 7 (07:56):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
Saint Francis transfer average about ten three in two the
year prior, and then he was injured last year, so
he's coming back off of an injury. But I do
think he's going to be their go to guard. And
he's from Wandayak, New York. I think I'm saying that right,
So no idea.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Now, I'm still trying to figure out Gussy Guzzy at
twenty five with a Gizzy and no word to Gizzo
he knows.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
Well, here's what I'm trying to figure out because after
Talbert and then I found the Rochester kid reep Reek.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Am I saying that correctly?
Speaker 4 (08:26):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (08:27):
Yeah? Great?
Speaker 4 (08:27):
Greek Raeke though four and three in D two? Is
everybody else on their team?
Speaker 3 (08:32):
Parker? Uh, let's look at it here.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
Jacob Hudson, he averaged thirteen minutes a game last year.
DJ Jefferson, Okay, well, he has an opportunity six four,
two twenty, maybe a little physical strength at the guard spot.
He was a five star Nordo. Well, but he averaged
seven minutes last season. So I'm I'm trying to f
is any are there they have any returning starters to
the Knicks here.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
This is the most interesting roster makeup I've ever seen.
The only guy I was really familiar with that Greek Greek,
but also DJ Jefferson. He was a five star, played
at Minnesota Prep, went to Tennessee, was like a super
high recruit, got hurt, had some you know, some personal stuff,
hasn't really played college basketball much. But another guy that
I've been looking at too is there Spencer Simms. He
(09:16):
was a transfer from Alabama, was a walk on at Alabama,
but was at McDonald's All American nominee. So it's like,
this roster makeup is so interesting weird that I'm excited
to actually get to shoot around and and talk to
Jeremy Luther about his Gardner Web running BULLBOGM.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
So we have two Minnesota connections. We got two Minnesota connections.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
D J. Jefferson because it says he's from Texas. So
he went to school up here.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Yeah, he went to Minnesota Prep. Yeah, it's a prep
school here in Minnesota. They've played on the national High
school basketball kind of carousel. So Jacob Hogarth, Jacob Houlgarth, Brooklyn,
New York. Paul Lindberg, Paul Lindberg. Yeah, I don't know
who any of these people are. I don't think Gardner
Web fans know who any of these people.
Speaker 5 (09:56):
They do.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
They're all new, they're all transfers and a lot of
JUCO kids. Southwest Mississippi Community College. You've got Tallahassee Community College.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
You got you got a bunch of different different Your
voice sounds very deep right now.
Speaker 3 (10:09):
Yeah, I was. I ran a camp yesterday.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
I was running all day yesterday, running around, try to
try to preserve the voice. So like to you on
the tea. I'm on the tea and honey diet today,
that's for sure. How excited are you for that call?
I'm so I'm so fired. Yeah, I mean this has
been like it's hits first Taylor.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
Taylor's in Cleveland right now.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Hockey USA Hockey has some rivalry series against I'm sure
she will. They don't play tonight, so I'm sure she'll
be uh be watching tonight but excited too.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
And you guys can watch it together when she gets
back there. You go, that's a good plan. That's a
good plan.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
But no, like you said, Pa, like you you know
how fired up I am about this whole industry and
just even being able to sit here with you and
hang out, but now to be able to do live
games and to be a part of something that I
love college basketball like I'm infactuated with it. I love
watching like I was watching YouTube this morning. Queen's was
playing Winthrop in the field of sixty eight, the first
game in the morning at eight am. So I'm fired
(11:03):
I know you a part of this, and I'm excited
to see where it goes.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
So, so is the banker dead? Oh, the banker's not dead. Good,
We'll stop it right there. Banker's not dead at Parker
Fox two four via X That was narrow casting, but
it had to happen.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
What happened?
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Why this is a surrogate kid of mine and the
banker is a surrogate uncle.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
Tim appreciates it. Thank you.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
Sources also tell me, speaking of Gopher sports, that that
you took in some Gophers hockey this weekend.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
Right, Motsco's team's two seven and one. That's that's crazy.
I mean, I just yeah, I mean, any idea what's
going on there?
Speaker 2 (11:38):
Yeah, you know, I am a really big go for
hockey fan from from the early days. Was like one
of the fellow were talking, well, yeah, definitely, thank you.
And this team is they have an interesting makeup. They
have a kid in al j. Mooney who was really
supposed to be a stud. He was on the national
development program team. He's really talented out in the ice.
They got a Brody Lamb is probably their leader.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
But they just haven't really clicked yet.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
And they've been playing tough games, right, Like you talk
about a U m D team that that's transforming. You
go to Wisconsin and play a solid Badgers team, but
we just haven't found ways to put the puck in
the back of the net. And I think that's that's
a position you're going to struggle. And then the goaltending
something where you were struggle a little bit last year
with it. You were going back and forth to different goalies,
and now you're kind of rocking with Nathan Airy and
(12:22):
net he hasn't been as successful as you wanted to be,
So I think there's some some learning processes, some steps
that this takes with this Gopher schedule and the Big
Ten's tough, Michigan State's tough, Michigan's tough, Wisconsin's tough. So
if you don't find a way to win some games early,
it could be an interesting year with.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
Whom are you calling the television game this evening, Will Peterson?
Speaker 2 (12:44):
Yeah, student at the U Big ten Plus game tonight.
And at the U Yes, student at the U so
Big ten plus game tonight. And then I think, well
three or four are Big ten Network games?
Speaker 1 (12:54):
Okay, Well the reason I brought it up is if
I'm wrong here, I apologize. But Twins Vox Corey provis Yeah,
calls basketball games for Big ten Network.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
He does. And Corey's good. He's the best.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
He's a professional assault of the earth, just very very
solid box.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
Hopefully you get a chance to work with him.
Speaker 2 (13:13):
Yeah, I know I'm on two games for sure with
him having got to speak to him about it yet,
but he's a guy that called a lot of our
games the past four years that I got to kind
of communicate with during shoot around and walk through and
as you know, I'm on the Twins TV network. Listen
to him, Justin Morneaut, Trevor Pluff, the whole crew and
an Archpam.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
Yeah, and Corey's so great, does a great job.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
So did you and or Taylor don your game more
nine yesterday because it would have been a good day.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
To do with.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Well, Taylor was gone and like I said, I was
working in camp, but I had you in the AirPod
on the iHeartRadio network on k Fan, and then I
had a little thirty minute break where I was able
to actually throw the game on and then I got
to my house after and watch the key plays and wow.
You know, we complain early last week about you know,
the defensive front, about the linebacker corps, and you can
(14:04):
correct me if I'm wrong, because obviously didn't watch the
game live, but it looked like that was the best
performance from our linebacking corps and the defensive front that
I've seen in a long time.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
They're they're two and zero.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
When Van Ginkle, Renard and Cashman played together. So now
you put Wilson in, who had two sacks. With his
skill set and his pass coverage has gotten a lot
better since I remember Eric being here the first time
before he left a Green Bay.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
It's it's Van Ginkle all right now.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
Just think Ryan Sooter yep, Okay, the blue liner who
when he was atop his game best Taylor Taylor HEIZI
and Zumwinkle probably under and Maddy Rooney probably understood a
fair amount of things that like you or I wouldn't
unless it was explained to us a defin nuance of
the game with Ryan suitor little things. But he didn't
(14:55):
splash much. Okay, well, Van Ginkle splashes, but he hasn't
really this year did have a couple of sacks. Van
Ginkle is the suitor bit. Yeah, I mean, whether it's
faking pressure, getting somebody to go a certain way so
you can jump and potentially deflect a pass, he's just
a savant.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
I mean.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
The return of Andrew Van Ginkole in a team game,
it's impossible to say changed the whole thing. Wow, But
when Van Ginkle's back, Cashman eats. When Van Ginkle's back,
Renard gets bodies off of him. When Van Ginkle's back,
he gets double teamed. So having Van Ginkle back Man,
(15:37):
I just not only is he one of my favorites
on the team, he's just the bomb.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
He's so good at everything. Yeah, he is, and I think,
like you said, he opens things up for others. You
see play Cashman with fourteen tackles. Eric Wilson was six
and then Cashman at twelve in the first half. Is
that so nine in the first quarter? Wow, that's unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
It was terrible.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
And also Javon Hargrave, we kind of broke down him
a little bit the last couple of weeks, you know,
something like that, and he does that mean, I don't know,
ripped on him?
Speaker 3 (16:03):
I know, I don't know. Well that definitely didn't have
any riz to it. But anyways, I thought he was
thought he was excellent too, and he and he had
a sack. Finally, what the heck is that? I don't know?
It just I meant to say ripped, but all right,
in clothes. I'll get that stuck in your head for
for this evening. Okay, thanks, got it.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
That's what I was trying to get to Lastly, uh,
your beloved Minnesota Timberwolves have Michael Porter Junior and uh
Nick Claxton and uh Dejon Dayron Sharp. This evening with
Brooklyn absolutely should be a w for Finchy's bit. Brooklyn
is winless, uh Porter Porter at a really big game yesterday.
(16:45):
But what are you seeing with the Wolves without Anthony Edwards?
And and Ordo dropped a little nug earlier that like
Anthony Edwards is clear for for practice or something.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
What is it Edwards is what?
Speaker 4 (16:56):
Yeah, he's clear for contacts, but I think he needs
to go through some practices and touch and then he'll
be back.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
So the Edwards bit was two ish weeks and we're
getting close to two ish weeks, so it seems like
he'll be returning pretty soon.
Speaker 3 (17:08):
Yeah. The nets are terrible. They're they're they're awful. They
have they got nothing going on.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
I don't know, you never have anything going on fantasy
fantasy members on on that.
Speaker 3 (17:16):
I have.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
I have two nets on my team, you really? Yes,
I have Claxton and I have something called Terrence Man.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
Okay who actually they're both playing pretty well. Yeah, those
two good pieces.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
But this is a Timberwols team that you have to
win these kind of games, regardless if you have Anthony
Edwards or not. Peacock game tonight good at Brooklyn at
six pm.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
So how many things we have to sign up for?
You just watch pro sports? Well, admit I'm out on Peacock.
I'm not paying.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
That's going to help us a lot during the Wolves
playoff run. So make sure I have a working cell
phone number for Max Fuller.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
Yeah, and and now YouTube and now YouTube TV?
Speaker 7 (17:51):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (17:52):
Is it allowing us access to to games as well?
So there's another you know, bit in the action. But nonetheless,
I'm excited to see what Anthony looks like coming back.
And we talked about it, his youth, his bryghness, Like
we've seen him go down with these ankle injuries and
then it's like, oh, this could be a season ending injury,
and then he's.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Back the next quarter.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
So I'm excited to see him bounce back from this
hamstring soft tissue stuff is never fair.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
Well, I'm going to be home about twelve thirty five
and I'm going to start figuring out how to give
Big ten plus. At that stage, I'll text you and
let you know when I get it there. Oh, how
much I have to pay, because I'm paying money for
the kid. I may not pay money for his team,
but I'm paying money for the kid. Do my very
best to watch the Night at seven and try to
text you during the game. Deep breath, relax, be yourself
(18:36):
because God granted you with gifts that have gotten you
to this point.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
Yes, sir, so let them shine.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
Love your brother, Love you too, Parker Fox at Parker
Fox two four when we return. If you missed the
beginning of nine to noon, you missed an a plus
Cloud nine montage by mad producer and some drive buys
with yours truly walking around the locker room talking to
happy people around the corner.
Speaker 4 (19:01):
But first the fan along with two men in a
junk truck, want to give you a shot at some
bonus bucks with the National Cash Contest.
Speaker 3 (19:06):
This hour's keyword is dollar.
Speaker 4 (19:08):
Enter the keyword dollar at KFN dot com for your
chance to win the keyword dollar at kfe. Epa jumped
into the locker room for his patented drive by conversations,
and he started him off with rookie guard Donovan Jackson.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
Like, how cool was that? How you doing? Man?
Speaker 1 (19:23):
What's a physical game? Physical game? And You guys talked
about it all week, offensive and defensive lines, punch them,
take the fight to them.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
You did it right, Yeah, I know. That was definitely
the message.
Speaker 8 (19:35):
We knew that they had a physical group on both
sides of the ball, and they capitalize on that pass game.
So we knew that if we could match and even
bring the energy to the next level, then we'll have
a shot at this game.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
Donovan Jackson left guard for the Minnesota Moving Company. What
was it like with McCarthy in the huddle late in
a tight game like this?
Speaker 8 (19:54):
How was he? He was calm the entire time. He
was always encouraging regards to where we were. If we
were big, we're you know, closed with three with a
three points up, he was like, hey, man, like, all
we gotta do is worry about this play, and then
after that we'll worry about the next play. But for now,
give everything you have for this one play. We'll sleep
on the plane back.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
Donovan Jackson, my may Man, congratulations, thank you. Uh the
Vikings beat the Lions twenty seven, twenty four and uh,
these are some drive buys and an incredibly cramped locker room.
Let's roll over here. Here we go, Hey, THEO. Congratulations, THEO.
Jackson joins us. Now, super physical game, my man, super
(20:31):
physical game. And you guys talked about it all week.
I uh, you won, so it worked out great. But overall,
how you.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
Think it went?
Speaker 9 (20:38):
Honestly, I think that was a great team win. You know,
we need to do it on all the three phases.
I mean, we we had some setbacks with with penalties
and all that, but you know, this is the type
of team that we have to fight, fight to f
fight to adversity, and really just like come back and
make the plays we need.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
You know, this may be a dumb question because you're
a high end competitor, but like when you're watching elm
or on TV of like Jamier Gibbs, I'm and Ross
Saint Brown, but specifically Gibbs man to eighteen from scrimmage
the last time we played against Tampa Bay. Dude, do
you have to watch it a certain way to be like,
oh wow, holy cow, you know, and then just wait
till the game day, execute the plan Flores put out
(21:17):
and not worry about it.
Speaker 9 (21:19):
I mean, when you see him on film, the speed
definitely don't jumps out. So you know, in the back
of our minds. You know that'sn't worry. But if we
do what we need to be done, and then it's
if it really takes care care of yourself, like legging.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
It tonight, last one, Bud, because I know you want
to go. How good is Harrison Smith playing right now?
Speaker 3 (21:38):
Holy Cow? Hey, that's my dog man.
Speaker 9 (21:41):
He's not gonna lose a step right.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
And you're fantastic. Thank you, They helk you. Congratulations on
the victory. That's a safety. Theo Jackson a hard a
hard hitting individual. And uh, let's go over here real
quick for these uh for these dry buys. Chay Aaron, Aaron,
real quick drive by now I know you had to
leave the game and hopefully the shoulder's okay.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
Pro You set the tone early, Holy Cow, with those.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
Catches and those runs and everything, and you every time
you would get tackled, you would bounce up, just super
fired up. You've done so well against the Lions all
of your career. But physicality was the theme all week,
and your line and everybody took it to them today
one hundred percent.
Speaker 10 (22:24):
Let them know last night the Captain's got a chance
to speak in the meetings and told them just pop up,
have a lot of excitement after you make a play,
let them know, let them know, And every time you
get up, keep letting them know, and it does something
to other people's confidence. So I just told them, hey,
let's have fun out here. Let's bring an energy, and
you're gonna see it from me. So I wanted to
(22:45):
start it off and let them see it for me
and let everybody follow.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
Well, set the tone.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
I mean, you know, it's like people are like, hey,
run more, run more, run more, but there are ways
they're giving up eighty seven yards a game against the run.
And McNeil's back with Reader and all the guys, you know,
so they're tough against the run. But that doesn't mean
you have to run it between the tackles every time
to get it done. Man, those little swing passes to
you were lethal.
Speaker 10 (23:05):
One hundred percent of KLi does a great job of
finding ways to finding ways to give me the ball
in space, give me the ball in space, and just
be a weapon like it. Like that, so I feel
like anytime I'm matched up against a backer, I should win.
And then there's a lot of a lot of eye
candy stuff going on too, so you never know who's.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
Getting the ball. You're the ball man. You're gonna be
all right, Yes, I'll be all right right. Congratulations there, Yes, sir,
good to see you. Yeah. YouTube by Aaron Jones.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
Uh, indeed it was showtime for his Minnesota Vikings today
drive bys just a couple if you don't mind, TJ.
How you doing, Bud quick drive by? Get congratulations on
the victory. Came back to ford Field, got the money
scored against your former team.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
Team got the money. I mean, which you think it
was a blast? Great team win.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
Uh.
Speaker 11 (23:50):
You know, comprimary football all the way around.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
Especially seniors, defense, offense.
Speaker 11 (23:55):
A lot of fun, a lot of fun to come
here in ford Field and and get a dub.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
I'm looking forward to watching this thing back man, because
I mean, without Josh Oliver and now Nick Vannett's elevated,
you got Ben Eurasek, the underrafter rookie from Georgia and
you you know, so I would imagine that O'Connell and
you guys had to do some different things with Vanette
end or your sect to keep you in the spot
where you're you're a threat as a receiver.
Speaker 11 (24:19):
Right yeah, yeah, I mean we we you know, Josh
is a great, great blocking tight end. So uh, you
got to step up in that in that area, you know,
I mean, you gotta you gotta move some people in
the run game.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
And then you know we were.
Speaker 11 (24:30):
Able to out rush them today, which is which is
which is huge. You know, we we talked about owning
the line of scrimmage and that's what we did. So
you know, gotta love it. Gotta love this group and
gotta love this team.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
Excellent win. Congratulations, appreciate you you J Hawkinson. Justin, just
real quick. You know, we look at the look at
those chains. Holy cow, Hi justin. So anyway, let's start here,
team victory. Okay, you guys came here, snapped that five
game losing streak. You absolutely are one of the if
not the best receivers in the NFL and in the
(25:02):
history of Minnesota Vikings football. With your catches today, I
gotta say it quietly, you passed Adam Feeling for the
third most in the history of the team.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
So we'll get that out of the way. You're the bomb.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
But I want to ask you this, how far back
do you want to make Robertson go? Because every time
you guys get together, man Louisiana Tech guys trying to
beat up LSU guy.
Speaker 12 (25:21):
Yeah, we go way back, you know, since high school.
So you know, the competition has always been there. The
rivalry has always been there. Uh, but it's always great.
So to go out there and of course see you
know that Louisiana native and uh but you know, so
go out there and uh to get that competitive spirit
and you know it always live for those type of matchups.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
Well, what was McCarthy like in the huddle? Lake?
Speaker 1 (25:45):
I mean two touchdown passes, one to you, he ran
one in but late in the game, crowd's loud. How
do he handle it?
Speaker 12 (25:53):
I feel like he had a degree, you know, I
feel like he's been leading us and you know, he's
been giving us those motivational you know speeches.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
Before we go out there.
Speaker 12 (26:02):
But it's just all about the confidence that he played with,
just you know, clearing his mind from the extra you know,
extra ness of this game, just playing free and just
going out there and just play out ball. Everything else
is going to happen on his own. But I'm glad
to see him out there with that energy, with with
that confidence and to lead us to this victory.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Lastly, Addison with the run a career long at sixteen
needed it like you needed to breathe. It was phenomenal.
How about jailing, I mean, nail or shoot? I mean
we'll just leave it like this. Due to circumstances, he
you know, probably should have had about three four or
five touchdowns this year, but whatever, he doesn't. He only
had one catch today too, right, he only had one
catch today. It was It was arguably the biggest catch
(26:45):
of the game, sixteen yards dagger the Lions.
Speaker 3 (26:47):
About jailing, Oh.
Speaker 12 (26:48):
Yeah, definitely one of the biggest catches of the game.
You know, for that situation, third down, under two minutes,
only up by three points, so that that play alone
is something that uh, you know, we strive for and
we always say that, you know, we got to make
a play in our receiver room. So for him to
(27:08):
go up and make that play on him one on
one coverage, uh jj, giving him an opportunity to go
up and make a grab. It was phenomenal.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
It was great.
Speaker 12 (27:16):
And uh you know I said before going out there,
you know, we got to keep the ball in our hands.
Let's not give this ball back to Detroit and give
him an opportunity to go win this game. Uh So
it was just great to you know, stay out there
on that field to get that, to get that first
time victory victory, Neil.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
And I know you haven't gotten into your phone and
scores and stuff like that yet.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
Maybe you have you guys win cool U.
Speaker 1 (27:38):
But another good team in the division, Green Bay lost
at home to the Carolina Panthers.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
I mean, it's a wide open league.
Speaker 1 (27:44):
Parody might be present, man, but that that's that's kind
of a that's I.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
Mean, what a wonderful day. This is the way the
whole thing worked out right, for sure.
Speaker 12 (27:51):
You know, I always say, is any any given Sunday,
you know it's it's a crazy league, is a you know,
the NFL is is difficult to play in and you
know any Sunday you can get somebody's best, you know game.
So it was definitely great to come here in difficult
environments of playing and to get this victory because you know,
we haven't won here in a in a couple of years.
(28:13):
So it was great to you know, CDs guys, happy
faces and you know, get back to winning.
Speaker 1 (28:18):
Nice job, Buck, congratulations, appreciation Justin Jefferson, who had a
touchdown catch today from from from JJ McCarthy we got
David Coop holding the contraption almost left eighteen hanging. Are
you kidding me? First time holding the contraption of all people?
You can't leave him hanging?
Speaker 3 (28:36):
All right? What's up Walter? Good to see you, Bud.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
All right, let's roll down here and slow roll this. Well,
we wait for uh, we wait for a certain quarterback
to become available.
Speaker 3 (28:51):
Here we go, Hey, JJ, just real quick drive by.
What's up, Bud? Congratulations?
Speaker 1 (28:55):
Man, I'm just gonna start with an open David Coop
JJ McCarthy, JJ McCarthy, David Coop, I'm just gonna leave
it an open end.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
Or what was the day like? It was amazing.
Speaker 13 (29:04):
It was amazing to just you know, be back in
Michigan and you know, have this opportunity. You know, I
talked to the guys last night in my portion of
the Captain speaking, and I was telling them, you know,
I've been sleeping in my college bed this whole past
week because obviously has us great dads, we got to
get our sleep right. And you know, it just got
deja vu for the opportunity. I've been praying and asking
(29:27):
God for an opportunity like this, and you know, I
told the guys that and you could just see him
all night up and it was just a fantastic way
of you know, getting the dub here, but a lot
of meat on.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
The bone, all right.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
So so what was different with you third start compared
to the first two?
Speaker 3 (29:39):
I mean, I'm calling it from a.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
Mile away, but it seems so calm and just like
you've been here not for three games, man, but for
like thirty to three hundred.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Did it feel like that?
Speaker 13 (29:49):
It did, because I feel like, you know, I just
found out what I really needed to focus on, you know,
the efficiency of thinking, understanding that there is such thing
as overload of information and just take into the game
the stuff that's gonna matter and that's gonna apply against
the defense. So you know, it was just great prep
all week, and you know, we gotta do it again
next week.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
I appreciate you, man, congratulations. Always appreciate you. Pa.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
JJ McCarthy came back to Michigan and where he was
a star for the Wolverines and he got all the money.
Speaker 3 (30:17):
Jalen.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
I mean, it's like I'm chatting with Kevin O'Connell earlier
in the week on Ex's and O's and I'm like
let's just say, due to circumstances like Naylor maybe should
have some more catches, some more touchdowns and winging to
look at the stats. We'll just end it right there.
He agreed with me and said, you're having a very
good season. I mean one catch today, sixteen yards? Holy
cal was.
Speaker 3 (30:38):
That a big catch? Jailing?
Speaker 10 (30:39):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (30:39):
Absolutely absolutely?
Speaker 7 (30:40):
May you know to ice the game and get us
out with a w You know, JJ's trusting us, and
it's spending in a right spot to where I can
only I can.
Speaker 3 (30:49):
Go make the play. And I came down with it,
all right.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
So Matellis and McCarthy a couple of wolver Raines going nuts,
jumping up and down.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
What about the Spartan. Let's not forget about the Spartan, right.
Speaker 7 (30:58):
No, no, say you can't forget about it.
Speaker 10 (31:00):
Man.
Speaker 3 (31:00):
You know, not a good season.
Speaker 7 (31:02):
O're all for the guys, for my guys at MSU.
But you know I still love him to death and
I'm just trying to put on for MSU.
Speaker 1 (31:09):
Jalenayler, congratulations man on the victory, and we'll talk.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
So yes, sir, thank you, sir.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
Jalen Naylor won catch sixteen yards and it won the game.
LDR be Ben Hi, Jonathan Bernard, good, thank you. Ben
Leber calls you out, Presidente. All right, so we got
some LDR in there today. You got your first full
National Football League SAC today. High five on that LDR.
(31:35):
You blocked the kick, didn't you. I did, Yes, sir,
you blocked the kick man.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
And what a big block that was, right, no doubt, Yes, sir,
Josh mittell Us he blocked the kick.
Speaker 5 (31:43):
Hey, hey, hey, First of all, yes, he did block
the kick. But the work that these guys did.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
In the run game, amen. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (31:53):
For number forty four to not have to tackle, for
me not to have to tackle Jamir Gibbs in.
Speaker 3 (31:59):
The open field, that's awesome. Line.
Speaker 5 (32:00):
I mean, they did their job. That's what I came
over here to tell him. He did amazing doing his job.
And when you do your job, plays come shout.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
Out to you. Boy.
Speaker 1 (32:09):
Yeah, whether it's tell us with Mattelis, I mean, the
future radio and TV career is big for him because well,
because he stole my bed. I mean I was going
to be like that work you guys did on the
defensive line. Now, granted they lose their guards during the
course of the game, very physical game. But he's right, man,
they had twenty five yards rushing at halftime. Your rush defense,
with all due respect, have been problematic, especially at so
(32:31):
FI in some other games. But you get Van Ginkole
back and we got LDR Hill Presidente doing his thing.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
What a great win to that, Yes, sir, we needed that. Definitely.
Speaker 13 (32:39):
Got to go back to work, work on our techniques fundamentals, man,
and put everything together.
Speaker 3 (32:43):
Yes, sir, I appreciate you man, Thank you, Levi.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
I had Drake Rodriguez, Hey, Jalen, Jalen and Javon if
you got a second Jayvon Hargrave, fist pump man, congratulations
on the victory. And I heard all week offense and
defense trenches all right, physical throw the first punch, Jaybon.
Fantastic work today. You have that sack. How the Jaybon Hargrave?
(33:06):
How the game feel for you? I feel good.
Speaker 3 (33:08):
Definitely.
Speaker 6 (33:09):
We can come out and dominate like that and stop
the run and you can quit pressure on the quarterback
and get the win.
Speaker 3 (33:14):
So that's always a great feeling.
Speaker 1 (33:17):
Jabon, could you tell you know, with the way you
guys were doing things early that Jared Goff was kind
of second guessing things a little bit holding it or
maybe going short, because I mean it seemed like you guy,
he's a seventy four and a half percent guy into
the game.
Speaker 3 (33:30):
At one point he was fifty one percent. So you
guys did something.
Speaker 6 (33:33):
Yeah, I ain't even know that. I don't really you
know what'd be going on back. I'll just be shoying
to beat the office alone. And so well, that's good
to know. I'm glad we did.
Speaker 1 (33:44):
Hey man, congratulations, great to see that, Sack.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (33:47):
That's Pa doing his patent to drive by interviews. After
yesterday's victory at Ford Field. First time in a half decade,
the Vikings walk away from Detroit with the w loving
that final segment nine to noon right around.
Speaker 1 (33:58):
The acutit aguait until tomorrow because tomorrow is TCOPC. Kevin
O'Connell joins nine to noon at eleven o'clock. Maybe some
hyperbolic hyperaccurate tomorrow like quick twitch five seconds hyperbolic or hyperaccurate.
(34:19):
We need to change our faces with the Carolina Panthers
and they're going to win the NFC South.
Speaker 3 (34:24):
We hyperbolic at this stage.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
Well, I mean they ain't far behind Tampa Bay n
Tampa is still the class of that division, and they're
five and four. But then you get to the one
seventy four, two hundred and five points against for these
baby Panthers and you start to understand why that is hyperbolic.
Thank you very much for listening to nine to Noon today,
and I'm Paul Allen. The programs around the corner, undoubtedly
with a patented montage en route. But now it's time
(34:49):
for big Daddy KHN to put a rap on nine
to noon.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
Good stuff, big boys back, Now, what what did I
do wrong?
Speaker 4 (35:00):
The game is over, Vikings fans were all back in
the winner circle. Gibbs runs like the wind, past blocks
like hercle, and Golf was off man. He couldn't throw
deep McCarthy's back and he was playing for keeps.
Speaker 3 (35:14):
How about that kid, QB.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
He's kind of looking more of the park, playing so
much more free and not much from Addison despite the chemistry.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
But he gave Jefferson a chance a highlight TD.
Speaker 4 (35:25):
Now, anybody remember last week it was every team losing
in the whole thing. Reeked got the Gardner WebCAT. I
mean it looked bleak. Seven days later and we're back
on the peak you got the gophers and ot, they
got the dove and the wild toes. For a day
were left unstubbed. The wolves and Charlotte Man. They hammered LaMelo.
Speaker 3 (35:44):
And the Vikings. Defensive planet was like it was sculpted
by Don Tello, starting the McCarthy era with a win
at Santa Clara.
Speaker 4 (35:52):
Podcast Today's Paul Allen Show, we're listening back to previous
show and interviews.
Speaker 3 (35:56):
I go into the iHeartRadio app or KFA and Don
on
