Speaker 1 (00:08):
Show me and jam all the way Connors.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Something tasty cold down June.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
My God, help me get out of PA and charge
me to.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Charge last come taking you to charge for profit. It's
a fantasy football thing. Joining us now, Paul Charchiam, Paul Charchian,
It's Paul Allen nine to noon or to by my side.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
What's going on with you, Polly Wally?
Speaker 4 (00:34):
Well, I don't think you and I have talked since
before and Nordo, if you can help me, I'm looping
back to myself, that would be great. I don't think
we've talked since before Europe. That is not cool, Paul.
I do not like it when we text and talk
less than people know.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Well, I think.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
I think that's an absolute indicator as to why with
all three of my fantasy football leagues.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
I'm out of all three of them.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Oh, I'm chopped in every single one because I'm not
having conversations with charging.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
That is not cool.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
Is not cool? Is your audio a bit better? Yeah?
It is better.
Speaker 4 (01:11):
It's a boring it's a boring story of how I
couldn't get my normal microphone to connect up to kfe
in and it took me two months or so to
figure it out. But we're finally there, I think. I
hope I sound good right now.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
What what'd you think of the Vikings victory over the Lions.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
I felt it was the most needed victory of the
koc Era and the most and maybe the most gratifying.
And that's saying a lot, because we've had all these
amazing comeback wins. I just when you we look at
the long term where this team felt like it was
a week ago today compared to where it is today,
(01:48):
long term feeling among Viking fans was pretty down, and
just to get some reinforcement that when this team's got
its players on the field, it can perform a much
higher level, especially with the offensive line. And then to
have JJ play a good game, and you know, I
just feel like this was for everybody whose dabber was down,
(02:10):
that was feeling consternation about the future of the Vikings.
This was as important as any win in the koc Era.
And I don't think that's I don't think that's hyperbole.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Paul Den, do you think, yeah, it was badly needed.
It's when you get Van Ginkle with Grenard and Cashman,
it's amazing what happens with Javon Hargrave. He had two
sacks in the first game of the year with all
three of those guys he had one at Ford Field.
The interior of the Vikings defense was as active as
(02:41):
we had seen in quite some time. Van Ginkle has
a lot to do with that. You can do a
lot of different things with Harrison Smith, as Jared Goff learned.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
So, I mean that's.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Kind of like part of the secret formula there. And
then from an offensive standpoint, the quarterback JJ McCarthy just
from the first step to the end, with mistakes and
accolades in the middle, he just looked the part and
looked calmer than than than in the previous two games.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
I mean that that was like the poise, the poise. Yep, Yeah,
he was great.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
He handled things with a plumb kind of a kind
of like bo Nicks has been doing since maybe the
first five, six seven games of his career. Uh and
a Denver place tonight. So what chance? What chance? Let
let's let's go over Archer and then get to the details.
What chance do you give the Denver Broncos Paul charcim
(03:34):
of getting to the Super Bowl?
Speaker 4 (03:40):
Ten percent? Twenty I'll go twenty percent. As an anthe
that they're they're they're in a spot to they're going
to make the playoffs. There's seven to two Operation tied
with the best record in the AFC.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Their defense is phenomenal, Paul.
Speaker 4 (03:54):
They have arguably and statistically the best pass rush is
the NFL, which I don't think people know because you
think of Patrick Certan is the identity of that defense.
The pass rush is fantastic even without Certan. It got
really Moss on the other side ball He is the
most targeted cornerback in the NFL, but he also has
(04:16):
the lowest completion made of any cornerback, and so people
are thrown at Riley Moss and it's not working. It's
his say, they're very complete defensively. They're all really tough
to run against. We're gonna see Ashton Genty likely struggle
tonight against Denver. It's it's really a defense that doesn't
have many, if any weaknesses to it. So there's that,
But the offense is all over the place, and bon
(04:36):
Nicks has been part of the problem. He's been good
at bad teams, he's been bad against good defenses. Like
last week, you know, they had this ugly just bloody
affair with Uston Texans, two of the five best defenses
in the league, gets knock out of that game. Bones
was absolutely humbled in that game. He's still not a
guy that you feel like you can roll in against
(04:58):
great defenses like you'd see in the playoffs and do well.
I think we've seen that berge zone next yet.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Okay, So with this bally hoot seven to two squad
from the AFC West and victorious these teams. This team
has won six consecutive Paul CHARGI him what fantasy value
did the Denver Broncos either offer this evening or consistently offer?
Speaker 5 (05:23):
Well?
Speaker 4 (05:23):
I want to highlight Troy Franklin there. I believe they're
new go to wide receiver. For years, the Broncos alpha
has been that big bodied beast Cortland Sutton. But the
Batons seems to be handing off to Troy Franklin right now,
the sophomore. Over the last three games, he leads the
team in targets in air yards. Five end zone targets
(05:44):
for Troy Franklin in the last three weeks. That's crazy.
There's some receivers who get that all year. Among all
wide receivers in the league. Troy Franklin is fourth in
air yards, so they're going deep to him, and this
is a good matchup again against a pretty bad Raiders secondary.
They got Eric Stokes, the cast off of the Packers,
(06:05):
has been playing pretty well, but the rest of their
their secondary is not good, and this is a really
nice opportunity for Franklin. And I think he's going to
be one of the guys I would watch tonight and
I would start in your fantasy league to.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
So so like Ashton Genty, I mean, the Raiders after
winning the first game of the year and looking like
they might be something, I mean, it's it's just been
a there's so much rigmarole and so many metaphorical moguls
they have to overcome during the course of the year.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
They're just not that good.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Meanwhile, Ashton Genty genty is top T one hundred yards
just once all year. Well, now he gets these monsters
at mile high. What do you think about Genty tonight?
Speaker 4 (06:48):
Yeah, it's been a frustrating season because he looked like
he was just gonna run away with the Rookie of
the year, but at the point of the draft special
talent and then he gets behind a horrible offensive line
that is giving him the lowest yards for contact. He's
less than one yard for contact.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
But Genty is so good, Paul.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
His avoided tackle rate is behind John Robinson and Jonathan Taylor,
and that's it.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Then it's asking Genty.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
He's making dudes miss all over the field and he's
doing whatever he can when he gets the ball and
suddenly look looking at three venders snap. It's been tough
everybody when they face the Broncos, all these teeth. They
want to get a run game going because of the
pass rushing Patrick's or ten and all the stuff that
we've talked about. But they're just they're really good against
the run. They just held Houston's runners to two and
(07:36):
a half yards per carry. No back his top sixty
rushing yards since Week three against Denver and the great
against the pass running backs as well. Only one runners
topped eight receiving yards over the last month against Denver.
So Genty, who's a great two way player. He may
not get it done either way tonight. It's gonna be
a tricky, tricky matchup for him.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
Hey, NFL a large charge. If I'm chasing, I need
some wide receiver talent. Trade deadline big names were mostly defense,
But this Rashid Shaheed cat going up to the Seahawks.
We know what Jackson Smith and Jigba can do with
Sam Darnold. Does Shaheed on his own right? Maybe he
is a deep threat speed guy, have value and does
(08:18):
he eat in at all to what you're getting from JSN.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
So JSM is one of the best stories of the year.
Speaker 4 (08:25):
They are already getting some good deep ball completions to
Jackson Smith and Jigba. He leads the NFL in long
long long receptions of twenty or more yards. But this
is a whole different cat with Rashid Hiet. He gives
you like this deep vertical speed. He was already twelveth
in air yards this season despite getting worm burners from
(08:46):
Tyler Shuck and Spencer Rattler. He is all about opening
up the defense. And now, imagine you are playing deep
safety against Seattle and the plays developing and both Jackson
Smith and Jigba and Rashid Shahed are running deep. What
(09:07):
do you do?
Speaker 6 (09:08):
Do you know?
Speaker 4 (09:08):
Ever, the temptation is going to be to collapse on
Jackson Smith and Jigba, and it's gonna leave Rashid Shaheed
in single coverage a lot on deep passes his specialty.
Sam Donold leads all quarterbacks in deep ball accuracy. He's
number two in deep ball completions, behind only Matthew Stafford
this year. So you know, he's throwing great deep balls
and they've got a deep ball specialist now in Rashee Shaheed.
(09:31):
He is just He's another reason why I think the
best and most complete team in the NFC is the
Seattle seahwes Hey staying.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
In that division charge with with Jacoby Brissette, who I
do I think actually for that team is probably the
better quarterback in totality over Kyler health wise or anything included.
And I'm just curious because it feels like with Brissett
that if you're a Marvis and Marvin Harrison junior owner
(09:59):
fantasy wise, that you've seen a boost. If you're a
Trey McBride owner in fantasy, you get all the catches
and yards, but now you're seeing the touchdowns too. What
say you about Brissett and maybe how that changes the
landscape of things for the Cards.
Speaker 4 (10:14):
Well, Nordo, Brissett's been the better passer. I mean, he's
got three starts, multiple touchdowns in every one of those starts.
He's got more passy yards in each of his three
starts than Kyler Murray had in any of his five starts.
I mean, he this offense is just better with Jacoby Brissette,
and this feels like a chance to take cheap shots
(10:35):
of Kyler particularly. We don't even know how legit this
foot injury is, because it looked like nothing when it happened.
But and I think I'm gonna try to avoid the temptation.
But do you guys buy into what I think part
of the narrative on Kyler Murray is that his body
language looks disinterested. When then you see Jacoby Brissette out
(10:58):
there and it looks like he is playing with.
Speaker 1 (11:01):
Fire in his belly.
Speaker 4 (11:02):
Like Brissette knows that every game might be my last
start in the NFL, and I have to go do
whatever it takes to win, and Murray doesn't feel like
he has that. You have to be really careful about,
you know, we don't know what's in his heart. We
don't know what's in his mind any player, and so
it's tempting to look at somebody who seems disinterested in
say that. But I feel like with Murray. There's something
to that common that common thinking about Murray.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
What do you guys think?
Speaker 3 (11:25):
Well, from a body language standpoint, I would be remiss
to comment because I haven't paid attention to it. So
now that you've mentioned it, if and or when he returns,
I will watch for it. Secondly, if you're an offensive coordinator,
they you know they they may not open up and
say this publicly the way I'm going to put it,
(11:46):
but all offensive coordinators want quarterbacks who go on three,
five and seven step drops.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
They do it straight in the pocket.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
And then they float left or right or maybe bootleg
by design and not necessarily take the take the like
say the Kyler's will card, and do it the way
they want to do it. And he's on the diminutive side,
so when he gets hurt there's always a major risk.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
He gets that. When he gets hit, there's a major
risk he gets hurt.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
So coordinators like quarterbacks, specifically backup quarterbacks who play like
Jacoby Brissette, where it's followed the plan, because they all
think their plan is the greatest plan in the history
of plans.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (12:31):
Yes, and Brissette, I think is somebody who just learned
how to do how to do that, and you know
he's he's been on all these bad teams that it's
been on, six different teams, all of them have been
bad teams. It feels like they've captured just a little
something here with Arizona where it's not as bad of
a team and it was waiting for some kind of
(12:52):
spark that Jacoby Brissette is bringing. And you know that
based on his stops and the way that coaches talk
about him and when he has had to play, he
is a smart guy who will go out and execute
an offenses as as best he can. And to this point,
this looks like an Arizona offense that just needed somebody
to come in and just be competent and do and
(13:12):
do what this offense wants wants it to do.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
And because sets that guy.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
Old school best goal PA in charge, it's Paul Charchi
is Philly at Green Bay a fantasy feast.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
Maybe a little bit more.
Speaker 4 (13:26):
These are two pretty good defenses and boy Jordan Love
with two of the worst passes of the year in
the same game, and it's been super inconsistent. This it
feels like a low scoring game. Green Bay run defense
has been terrific. Philadelphia's defense not as good this year
as last year because they lost a lot of players
in the off season, but still really good. And they've
(13:46):
got the two great cornerbacks Quinnyon Mitchell and Cooper dejen
So I doesn't feel like there's a lot of fantasy
explosiveness here. But I'll say this, the Green Bay secondary
has been is not as good as we thought it
was going to be rolling into the year, and they've
they've had some legit troubles against good quarterbacks and in
(14:07):
some cases not even that go to quarterback. They've given
up multiple touchdown passes to five of the past six
quarterbacks that they have faced, including including Jacoby Brissett, who
he just mentioned. And have we ever seen a team
that's played to the level of their opposition, like precisely
to the level of their opposition more than this.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
Group of Packers.
Speaker 4 (14:31):
You've got to tie on the books already three point
game against Cleveland, a three point game last week, all
their all of their games since really Week one have
been within one score. It's uh, it is a it's
uncanny how these Packers are playing right to the level
of their opponents.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
But con looking at looking at this weekend's game at
US Banks Stadium. You've talked about it, whether it's you know,
Derrick Henry the early season fumbles and he's been shut
down a fair amount, although he kind of had a
bit of resurgence recently. What jumps out to you about
I mean, is Vikings Ravens potentially a fantasy feast charge.
Speaker 4 (15:10):
Yeah, it might be, although I want to mention this,
if you look at the stats for the Ravens through
the first six games of the year, they were so
hurt on defense. They were missing like entire secondaries and
you know there are they come in. You know, the
timing and playing the Ravens going to be worse for
the Vikings because they're basically all healthy now with one
notable exception. What they've done in the last three or
three games. John Harbo's resurrected the Ravens by using Derrick
(15:34):
Henry as a workhorse twenty one carries on average over
these last three games, and in games with at least
eighteen carries, Derek Henry's averaging one hundred and twenty rushing yards.
So it's you know, they will be very, very stubborn
with Derreck Henry, which was not always the case this year.
They had turned they had there were a few games
where they just they got behind and they just gave
up on Henry. No, but that is I don't believe
(15:55):
that's going to end up being the case here, and
what's going to be much closer to a slug fest,
and I think we're going to just see a ton
of Henry here and it's as great as the Vikings
run defense was against Jamior Gibbs. Obviously totally different schematic
player with with Derrick Henry. What they what they bring
to the table.
Speaker 3 (16:12):
All right, Last one, which is a worst Fantasy game
Cleveland depth the Jets or Saints at the Panthers.
Speaker 4 (16:24):
Cleveland Jets is pretty bad. You gotta feel bad for
Brees Hall. Right, you're Bresol, You're one of the ten
best runners in the league. You're languishing during your four
year career in New York. You're taking handoffs from Zach
Wilson and Mike White and Trevor Smean and Tim Boyle
and Tred. Deadline comes and you know the Jets are sellers.
So you're Breese Hall and you're like, will you just
(16:46):
please trade me? You know, you'll get some draft picks.
I'm gonna get out of here anyway. I'm head to
free agency. They don't trade him. It's got to be
demoralizing to know you have to play another half season,
which that's a barrel or way to the top in
the draft. And now they're without Sauce Gardner and Quinyon Williams,
so they're you know, they're going to be giving up
a ton of points. They're probably not even going to
(17:07):
be running Breese all that much because they're going to
be losing a lot of games game scripts that go
against him. And it's a brutal match with Cleveland. By
the way, that's the best run defense in the league.
So poor Breeze Hall. Every it's a bad week for
Breese Hall and it's going to continue on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
Okay, can you if you're in a pinch, can you
mix in some Harold Vannin Junior?
Speaker 6 (17:25):
Yeah, you can.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
That kid is you, as we know because we saw
him work the Vikings.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
That kid is really really good.
Speaker 4 (17:32):
People thought David and Joko would get traded at the
deadline because Fannin is so good, but that didn't end
up happening, and Fannin remains as it's the only it's
the only two tight end offense where you can actually
start both of those tight ends in fantasy.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
All right, my brother, we miss you, we love you,
we look forward to chatting with you each and every Thursday.
Thank you for the fantasy football feast speculation, and have
a beautiful day.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
Okay, we'll talk to you next week. Bye bye, my man, Paul.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
Charchim As, we take you to chart each and every
week on Thursdays. Now, the Friday football feast is that
Buffalo Wild Wings, Elk River. Tomorrow we do have one
little baby fantasy segment we call I Hop. It's I
Hop I Hop in honor of Paul, and tomorrow I
(18:21):
think we hit our running backs. So that'll be tomorrow
with Alec, Lewis, Nordo and yours.
Speaker 5 (18:25):
Truly.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
Did you pick T Higgins, by the way, that's very
good question.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
I can't remember whether you did that in jest and
then chose somebody else because you ran it up a bit.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
If you did indeed stick with Higgins, I can tell.
Speaker 3 (18:39):
You right now if you really really want to know,
let me get into the old phone contraption, then into
the notes and find the I hop what's Ie hops
Dowd for.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
It stands for in honor of Paul.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
Al Charchian did a decade and a half of fantasy
football feast, So I mean, I think it's the least
we can do.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
I can only imagine that he's missing. I mean, he
can say he misses us. It's cool to connect with him,
do the weekly bit. Glad that he figured out and
it only took him two months to figure out how
to not use the laptop microphone in his home nuclear bunker.
But I imagine he kind of misses Elk River. Just
a sweet little drive of ninety four. There some good
(19:18):
restaurants around there, just good place, good vibes on a Friday.
I mean it's, you know, Monicella's a little bit farther out,
but still kind of the same kind of energy emanating
from Elk River. I bet Churchwood would miss being in
Elk River. But that's why we do IHOP in honor
of Paul on a weekly basis, our own little fantasy
baby game.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Justin Jefferson for Eric Nordquist. Sweet had a touchdown. I
was going to take Jamar chase Alex snipe me with
Jamar Chase. Yes, and I'm like, I thought you were
going to take Ammon ross Saint Brown. I can't believe
you didn't take Hammon Rossaint Brown. Well, I'm not taking
Aman ross Aint Brown. It's bad for business, it is.
So I took t Higgins and they scored two touchdowns.
(20:01):
Well done. So I mean I kind of fell into him,
to be honest, because Alec took Jamar Chase. So the
Fantasy Less scribe got zero points. I got thirty six.
You got twenty eight the Fantasy Less Scribe.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
That's twenty two. Okay, So he's he's in arrears, Yes.
Speaker 5 (20:23):
He is.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
You're You're just I mean, you're just going to really
make my life difficult the rest of the way, aren't you.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
I am holy cow.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
Well, I need to make it at least competitive so
we don't quit this in two weeks.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
Well we're not quitting it in two weeks, as I'll
do it all by myself because you guys don't care
about Paul Charchie and then honoring things that took place,
because you know what, for millennials like you, the world just.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
Started five years ago. That's correct.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
But for somebody like me, I have reverence and respect
for somebody who started something with yours truly called the
Friday week Ago Friday Football Feast and so in honor
of Paul running Backs, this week from Melk River Cash Now.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
The Fan along with two men in a junk truck
want to give you a shot at some bonus box
with the National Cash Contest.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
The keyword is grand.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
You could win a grand if you enter the keyword
grand at kfan dot com. Keyword grand Kfan dot.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Slayton native Alan Roach learn more about him via x
at Mile High Roach. He's the voice of US Bank
Stadium super Bowls and a voice of the Abs at
Ball Arena, and he's the box of all boxes ever
to box. Here comes Roachie. Alan, did you scare anybody
(21:35):
good on Halloween with that big voice?
Speaker 5 (21:42):
No, nor kept the light. Kids are all gone. My
kids are all gone. So we were the anti Halloween family.
Turned the lights off and we'll put no one knocks
on the door. And it worked, maybe for the first
time ever, zero Knox on the Roachy door.
Speaker 3 (21:59):
Folloween and I mean we maybe you've thought of this,
but like you don't have to go full you know
with that with that beautiful gift God gave you that voice.
You don't have to go full costume or like dress
up like Scream Guy or Frankenstein or anything like that.
I mean, you could just like if it's dark, you
could hide around the corner and just use your voice
(22:20):
and people would get scared and because the wouldn't know
where it was coming from.
Speaker 5 (22:28):
I find that to be mean. I remember as a kid,
you know, walking around to the bag of candy and
you see what you think is a stuffed scar scarecrow
sitting on a chair, and then the scarecrow jumps up
as you walk to the door. That stuff would send
me running down the block. But I don't do that to.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
The youngins with with a home game this weekend Minnesota Vikings,
Baltimore Ravens Box of ball boxes Ever to box time
is noon for the Boom and it's nice to have
a string of Sunday noon games, don't you think. I
mean these guys crave routine. Last week was Roads Sunday noon,
(23:08):
one o'clock Eastern home Sunday noon for Rochie. This weekend,
same thing for the Bears a week from Sunday. It's
just nice to settle into that groove, don't you think?
Speaker 2 (23:20):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (23:20):
And I've heard a lot of talk about that this week,
and my question to that is when does the routine
become routine, because you can't say that last week is
when the routine started because the noon game last week
was the outlier. So now we've had two noon games
(23:41):
in a row, which I guess is probably the only
time since what the Dublin and the London games, but
those were weird because they were on some other continent.
But yeah, there's something to be said for that, I'm
sure for the players. But I think it eight you know,
certainly more than one week to have a string of
(24:04):
noon games. So when do you start feeling the benefits
of that?
Speaker 6 (24:08):
Right?
Speaker 3 (24:08):
I think they feel it now. I mean I think
a lot of them felt it when they got to
Ford Field and it was just it was almost like, Wow,
this is this is what I prefer most. This is
where I am at my best, and here it is.
So let's give your best when your best is required.
Let's do it against the Ravens. Let's do it against
against the Bears, and we'll worry about old Sammy d
(24:30):
after that. With the Ravens. Allen Vox of all boxes
over the box, what excites you about this one.
Speaker 5 (24:40):
Well, obviously, the fact that the Ravens have been struggling,
you know, that means they're going to come in kind
of with that back against the wall mentality, which can
be scary, but US Bank Stadium is a very difficult
place to play. One thing I've kind of enjoyed looking
forward to is if you remember, and I heard you
(25:04):
just talking about it with the chart about now I
can't who's the gigantic running back for the Ravens.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
Why can't I Derick Henry keeping?
Speaker 5 (25:14):
Thank you very much? Number twenty two. There were two
games early in the season. Was it Week two and three?
Was it Week one and two? It was somewhere back
there early and Charge talked that earlier in the season
they'd kind of taken the ball out of Derrick Henry's hands. Well,
part of that was because Derrick Henry had two disastrous
(25:38):
fumbles at incredibly critical parts of the game in back
to back games which cost them two l's. And that's
when I think they took the ball away from him
a little bit. Now they've gone back to him. How
delicious would it be to knock the ball out of
(25:58):
number twenty two sands right into the purple number twenty
two's hands in the first or second drive of the game.
Speaker 3 (26:04):
This Sunday, Alan Roach at Milehah Roach via Twitter. He's
the voice of US Bank Stadium. Are they introducing the
offense first?
Speaker 5 (26:15):
I knew you were gonna ask me, and I kind
of have been wracking my brain trying to remember what
we did in the last home game. It would have
been Carson Wins at quarterback, so I kind of think
I don't even who was our last home game. I
think they did the offense then, so I'm guessing we're
set for defense this year.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
Yeah, they rotate, right, I mean because Atlanta was offense
since he was defense a Philly would yeah, Phillip, So
that means no Jay Jame Carthy.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (26:48):
Well, I don't think it's written in stone anywhere that
they have to go back and forth. But I think
for the most part they flip flop. Maybe if there's,
you know, a reason in someone's mind to announce one
or the other, that's the way it's going to go.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
And I mean, last time we talked about this, you
Alan Roach, you voice of US Banks Stadium, got us
all fired up for the kid quarterback against Atlanta then
we failed to score a touchdown. What's your response to that?
Box of all boxes ever to box?
Speaker 5 (27:23):
Yeah, I went from one of the highest of highs
and announcing the return of Adam Feeling and announcing the
kid quarterback and announcing J J last out of the tunnel,
the other the older JJ justin Jefferson, and then yeah,
(27:44):
then there was a lot of a lot of badness
that happened in the three hours after that. I'm looking
forward to, uh, you know, JJ having his his chance
at home, something I thought a lot about over the
last couple weeks. And you can look at it many
different ways. JJ McCarthy in some ways, because of fate,
(28:08):
has been put in to maybe a better situation than
he would have if he wouldn't have been hurt. Now,
I think that the worst thing that's happened to the
Vikings this year is that they, you know, stumbled and
bubbled their way to a three and four record, And
in that three and four record, the quarterback that we
(28:30):
need to see play and we need to get reps
only played in two games. JJ lost you know, a
time that he's never going to get back. And it
even goes back to last year's injury and all of that.
But let's stay, for instance, that JJ McCarthy didn't get
hurt in Week two and played all those games when
(28:51):
the Vikings offensive line was going through sixteen different connotations,
and when the defense was given up one hundred and
sixty five yards on the ground and the Vikings were
not playing well as a unit. And if JJ were
in those games even though all those other things were
going on with the offensive line and with the defense,
(29:11):
and if we'd have still plundered our way to that
three to four record, JJ McCarthy would be receiving so
much heat from the Rubes that, you know, he's supposed
to be the savior, he's supposed to be the guy
that brings everybody above and beyond that. Well, the team
was not performing well, and so by JJ not being
(29:33):
in there, I think that took a lot of pressure
off of him. And then especially to come in after
a game where they go to quote unquote San Diego
and just get destroyed and people are like, all right,
that's it, season's done. Well, now JJ gets to come in,
and the expectations I think were probably very low. I'm
(29:55):
guessing everyone's expectations against the Lions for JJ McCarthy last week.
We're way way lower than what the result was. So
keep it going, kid, get the reps. We all understand
that you've got film, and you're going to have more
film every week, and defensive coordinators at some point this
(30:16):
season are going to throw something at you that makes
you do something you wish you didn't do. Hopefully the
Vikings as a team now have enough to overcome that.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
Right, Wow, that'll preach? Hey, Alan, that would what a soliloquy.
That was beautiful. You're the Box of All.
Speaker 5 (30:38):
Box guestling Ben Gestling wrote that for me.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
That's okay. You played your amy, you read it back beautifully.
Can't wait to see you this weekend. Thank you, Box
of all Boxes ever to Box Allen Roach, have a
good day, right all right?
Speaker 5 (30:50):
C A pa by Nordo see you, Matt.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
We have intel that a very accomplished defensive coordinator is
talking about a certain running quarterback and is taking place
right now.
Speaker 7 (31:02):
What what any success that we have and improve in
anything that where we're having some weaknesses or we're not
playing as well as we want to, And that's always
the message.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
But you got to be kidding me.
Speaker 6 (31:18):
Wait?
Speaker 1 (31:19):
Wait, waited, all day here B Flow talk about Lamar Jackson.
Oh my goodness, the box of all boxes.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
Ever.
Speaker 3 (31:27):
Devox goes on a soliloquy which was fantastic. It was powerful,
and and so then you all right, we're cool, We're
gonna get b Flow here. Word has it. He's talking
about Lamar Jackson and running lanes and containing and tackling
and all that, and.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Then all of a sudden it's gone.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
Which which, by the way, if you had you know,
mythic one hundred dollars, mythical one thousand dollars, however much
you want to make it, if you had to bet
on the over or under press conference lane for Brian Flores,
which I mean, I could put that thing at twelve
and a half. He talked for like seven minutes today.
That has to be a record low.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
Started at eleven thirty for the defensive coordinator.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
Yeah, I believe, And he started talking about I'm sorry,
I'm forgetting the name you used it in use Denord,
the Dallas Cowboy, Oh, Marshaw Neeling, Marshaon Neelan. Yeah, so
B Flow started talking about him. Adam Shepter through. I
think police reports kind of advance that story. You can
(32:31):
find that on your own via social media if you're
so inclined. But well, that's that's gonna be something to
which we can listen a little later to see what
b Flow had to say about Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 1 (32:43):
Yeah, his Vikings YouTube channel.
Speaker 6 (32:46):
Right.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
Well, Matt Daniels and or West Phillips are next in
the pecking order. I wouldn't mind hearing what Matt Daniels
had to say about about the Miles Price nullified touchdown
with tave Or Thomas being the culprit and Wes Phillips
(33:07):
talking about the Ravens defense that is big and lumbering.
Now they hit hard, they hit hard, but their leading
tackler is a cal rookie taking in the fourth round,
something called Teddy Buchanan, and I have no idea who
he is. They've got a veteran corner named Marlon Humphrey.
Can he's still run? I guess we'll find out this weekend.
(33:30):
Kyle Hamilton ain't that fast, but he's a wonderful overall player.
Kyle Hamilton, who knew and of course jadobe O Woozie.
There's just so much to learn about the Ravens defense.
So that's your offensive coordinator West Phillips talk about.
Speaker 4 (33:46):
It just for him going forward, just how powerful that
each time he's had to come.
Speaker 3 (33:49):
Back, he has shown that he can rise.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
To the challenge in some way, shape or form.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
So going forward, when you've seen young guys homeport.
Speaker 8 (33:57):
Is that I think with JJ, you absolutely love the
competitive competitiveness. I think the guy's feet off off of
his energy, his his fire, his passion for.
Speaker 6 (34:08):
The game, you know.
Speaker 8 (34:11):
And and it's it's like any young quarterback in this league.
H he's got to be able to balance the times
where you know, he's completely amped up, but also has
to be locked in from from one play to the next,
regardless of what play it is, or what down and
distance situation, all those types of things.
Speaker 6 (34:30):
And and uh.
Speaker 8 (34:31):
There's going to be a continuous growth from a young
player who hasn't played a lot.
Speaker 6 (34:35):
In in this league.
Speaker 8 (34:36):
So and and and what you love about him is
is he's a sponge. He's he's he's taking everything in
all the time, listening to everything, writing things down, asking
the right questions. And he's extremely intelligent. You know, he's
he's got he's got this fire and he's jumping around,
but he's he's a very intelligent guy.
Speaker 6 (34:57):
And and and I.
Speaker 8 (34:58):
Believe that's what you need, uh to have kind of
as a baseline before the talent shows up, you know,
a baseline level of intelligence, uh to to really be
able to function at a high.
Speaker 1 (35:09):
Level too minutes post on.
Speaker 6 (35:11):
You think just the operation, just that him orchestrating.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
It, see question.
Speaker 8 (35:19):
But really, really, uh the few things that kind of
came up really really weren't you know JJ as much
as uh, you know, just guys being locked in being
able to hear everything.
Speaker 6 (35:32):
It was a hostile environment. Uh.
Speaker 8 (35:34):
Those those those guys are rowdy, and you know they've
been winning a lot of games the last few years.
So but I thought from JJ's standpoint, silent count motions,
uh checks, you know those some of those checks where
you see him stepping up into the line of scrimmage
because you know, those linemen just even four or five
yards back can't can't hear him, so uh getting down,
(35:56):
getting back, making sure you know, uh he he's aware
of the play clock, all those types of things. I
thought he handled it extremely well really for the second
second road game on the you know, in the division.
Speaker 6 (36:11):
What do you see with Kyle Hamilton on.
Speaker 8 (36:13):
Film smart instinctive, long ball skills, physical, he's really good.
Speaker 6 (36:23):
Yeah, he's really.
Speaker 1 (36:23):
Good, very fast.
Speaker 8 (36:26):
That that back end that they have, and I know
they've invested in it over the years. You know, there's
a lot of first round picks and and a lot
of talent back there. But maybe it's probably the best
best you know, overall secondary.
Speaker 6 (36:40):
Group that we've we've played.
Speaker 3 (36:41):
Oh wow, yeah, we can fade it out there. Oh
Jesus really really, I think about that for a second.
Let's see Bears, yeah, Falcons, Yeah, just in terms of
the secondary group, ye, secondary group, yeah, Bengals, Yeah, yeah, Steelers.
Speaker 1 (37:00):
What about Ramsey and Sleigh?
Speaker 5 (37:04):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (37:05):
Okay, am I am I out of am I out
of pocket for saying I actually was not that impressed
in totality with what we saw from from Ramsey and Company.
Speaker 3 (37:14):
No, against No, you're right, Yeah, you're right because on
name value, a couple of guys in their thirties. I
thought Darius Slay was bad. I thought it was just
bad in that game, uh at key times.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
Then you get the next week on Cleveland it was
Newsome and Denzel war that's a pretty good pand Denzel
Ward's good, Newsom's and Ellie got traded.
Speaker 1 (37:33):
They got a safety that they liked, Delpit. Yeah, but
he didn't play. Delpit didn't play. Did he play? Maybe
he played? Yeah, maybe they were worried about him into
the game.
Speaker 6 (37:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (37:44):
Hey, that that big pick on Jordan Love in the
Packers game Eagles. Oh no, no, Chart, No, no, Bro,
He's right.
Speaker 1 (37:56):
I think he's right. He's right. Yeah, he didn't say.
Speaker 3 (37:59):
He said Kyle Hamilton is big, sturdy, smart, angular and
an elite football mime. Didn't say it was fast. No,
he did not say he was fast. I'm telling you
right now, man, I think I have a formula. I
think I have a formula where if it's not executed
(38:20):
by the play caller of the Minnesota Vikings this weekend offensively,
then I think people are going to call fan line
or get to the six four six eighty six and
call it play calling malpractice. And I'll share with you
exactly what that is next. A cute cutey And here's
the deal. When you think of this, all right, I'm
(38:41):
against a Ravens defense that hits hard, is big, is
very physical, but I don't think it's the fastest thing
that we've seen in the history of the NFL. I
love when Justin Jefferson starts in the backfield. Okay, when
I watch those plays back to watch what some linebackers
and safeties are doing. That's a thing and O'Connell used
(39:03):
it a lot in the Lions game. Make sure Jefferson's
in the backfield sometimes. How about Addison and or Nayler
on Jets reverses and end a rounds. I mean, Addison's
fast and every time they do that bit he gets
a few yards out of it. Nayler has only run
a few times in his career. He ran in London
against Cleveland for a career long sixteen. And Jalen's fast.
(39:27):
So maybe Naylor on some of those. Make these big
old trees run left to right, not north and south.
And then you're gonna we talked earlier about setting things
up for plays down the road.
Speaker 1 (39:42):
You do all of that.
Speaker 3 (39:44):
Jefferson pass touchdown, Ben Urasek, Hey see everybody tomorrow for
the Friday Football Feast of Buffalo Wild Wings. Elk River
with Alan Canordo. I'm Paul, thank you for listening. Here
comes big Daddy Khan. Well he's here to put that
(40:05):
wrap on the show.
Speaker 4 (40:12):
The game is over.
Speaker 2 (40:17):
Tomorrow, pack the van we head northwest up in Elk
River for another pepfest. No need to show up merely
at our behest, but the more the merrier and makes
it the best.
Speaker 1 (40:27):
It's another test for this kid, QB Man.
Speaker 2 (40:29):
There's a lot on his shoulder and he ain't even
twenty three. But watch out for Hamilton, Roquan and Humphrey
hoping for a kneel down to seal a victory. And
it's time for Operation Contain Lamarkinsen our whole plan down
a storm drain trying to tackle Henry Man. It can
give you the bends. My head's still spinning from their
seven tight ends. So again Tomorrow it'll be Elk River
(40:52):
round of free schooners on Alec.
Speaker 1 (40:54):
He's a giver.
Speaker 2 (40:54):
Tip your servers before you head out the door. As
we proclaim, this team will be five.
Speaker 1 (40:59):
And four three Laza Kes.
Speaker 4 (41:04):
Podcast Today's Paul Allen Show, or listen back to previous
show and interviews.
Speaker 1 (41:08):
By going to the iHeartRadio app or kfa N.
Speaker 5 (41:11):
Do you
