Speaker 1 (00:00):
Human eleven two, Joe Dorr Strictly b Ball with Parker Fox,
Big Ten network basketball calling Sensation had an opportunity to
work with the affable and a talented Corey provis recently

(00:23):
and sources tell me you have another Golden Gophers men's
game coming up soon.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Can you confirm or deny?

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Yeah, that's correct. A week from today. It's the last
non conference games for the Gophers before they get into
the grueling Big Ten schedule. As you and I know,
I'm going to be tough for any Big Ten team,
but especially a Gophers team that really doesn't go deep
to their bench. They only play about seven guys. So
one more opportunity non conference against Fairley Dickinson on the
Big Ten networks.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Wait next Monday at eight pm at Parker Fox two
four to learn more. Joe dor Strictly b Ball. Check
out that high school basketball tour that Nolan and Joe
are doing. It sounds really really cool and all social
media channels we'll have it NOWBA NBA officiating Nuggets coach
David Adelman Saturday night followed Chris Finch's Q from Friday

(01:10):
against OKC and had to be restrained by nugget security
and assistant coaches from going after a ref Okay, this
is not to be taken lightly. There's a difference between yelling,
having an assistance say stop and then you're getting thrown
out as opposed to leaving restraints of people holding you

(01:31):
back and trying to run at somebody you're that incensed.
So a day after Finchy went ballistic, David Adalman almost
did the same thing.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
For the Nuggets.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
NBA officiating, in my opinion, is the worst it ever
has been the last few years, and now coaches are
becoming so apoplectic they want to fight them during games.
I'm not kidding. It's happened twice this year. Yeah, what
do you guys think about that?

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Joe first Man, I think just the reception that Finchy
got after he did what he did is kind of
telling of what everyone has been feeling about this for
a while. I think the focus for me as a
Timberwolves fan has been on the thunder and the way
they're officiated. It's, you know, feels inconsistent at all times,
and Finchy was kind of just defending everyone or kind

(02:18):
of has a stance of everyone when he was when
he was going out there.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
No, I think you're exactly right. It's uh, there's a
brotherhood within coaches in the league. The league is very close,
Like all these guys are very close. You got to
give the guys credit. Like as much as a Minnesota
sports fan, we're like, ah, Shaye's such a free throw
mergent the whole bit, like hate and when he throws
his head back, but he's found a way to manipulate
the ref So I think as a reffing core, you

(02:42):
have to come together and somebody's got to lead that
and say, hey, we're not allowing the head throwback. Like
Tias Jones. Patton did the head throwback in high school.
He was one of the best at it, and now
you see it.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
But the thing that you mean, like throw the head back,
like the arms was like the like.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
The whole car Anthony Towner flail your arms bit like
he was too tall to be doing that anyways. It
used to piss me off.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Yeah, man, And he was always on the ground and
it was four on exactly.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
But the thing that I really hate to see is
now it's trickling into the youth. Right, So these kids
are so impressionable and every kid you go to these
youth tournaments and granted, wear whatever shoes, whatever wristbands, whatever
sweatbands you want, but play the game the right way.
Stop throwing threes from your hips like like Steph Curry,
Stop throwing the head back like shaygo just Alexander, Like,

(03:28):
fundamentals are getting lost. And I know I saw that
an old grandpa get off my lawn type of bit here.
But fundamentals are such a huge part of the game,
and I think officiating is hurting that to the youth
side as well.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
They I can't speak for the youth side, but as
the pros go, they are elevating overmatch people for whatever
the reason, and they are making too many mistakes. We
see the same thing in the NFL with like side judges,
back judges, officials, not the referees. The hiring practices in
those sports need to be refined because they're elevating people

(04:01):
who do not belong at the highest level. How does
all of this improve? Yeah, it's it has to. It
almost has to be like a hard reset, hard rewire.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
I you know, working with Corey Provis the past couple games,
we've been talking about the MLB side and Tim Cheetah
who you know who wasn't on Yeah, mlblom it did
several you know, World Series games, a whole bit. We
were talking with him court side yesterday and he just
talked about the fact that this might go unhuman. We

(04:33):
might go to the robot side of hey, this is
a strike and this is a ball, and now you
can't do that for basketball. You can't do that for football.
So you need to find a different way. And in
my opinion, it's got to be hardwired in the development
of these officials, Like there has to be there has
to be a you earned it, pay your dues type
of thing, and not everybody just gets to be an
NBA official, Like, we got to figure out a way

(04:56):
to work this, work this thing up, work your way
up the ladder, because if you're just handing out like
you know, hey, here's you get to be an MB official,
it's not gonna work right. And you and I discussed,
I don't care who you are, where you're from, you
got to pick the right people to officiate.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
I think one.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
Idea I have is there should be an objective stats
on correct calls and miss calls that there has to
be that is like yep. And I think we should
know who the best refs are and we should have
a when we have a certain ref and be like this,
this is the best ref in the league objectively, and
then if there's a glaring weakness, that ref should either

(05:35):
you know, be downgraded to the G League or you know,
we should know who the best refs are and that
should be public.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
Well. They I kind of like that Baseball bit.

Speaker 5 (05:43):
I forget what the site is, but but I see
writers reference it all the time where it shows, you know,
this guy had five miss strikes in X y Z game.
They give grades and percentages. One thing I was going
to ask you guys, though, don't you feel there's this
delicate balance where you see what Finch did? You see
what Attleman did. I don't think the league is unaware
that there's an issue, but they also don't want to

(06:05):
have to admit that there's an issue. I think they'd
be very hesitant to do so. And then there's the
element of we're feeling shown up. So it almost there's
a there has to be a stubbornness with the league
behind closed doors in some respects, where yeah, this is
an issue, but to come out publicly and denote. This
would then put failure at our doorstep, and there would

(06:27):
be a lot of questions and issues surrounding that. I
think that kind of delays maybe improvement or evolution.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
Yeah, I mean, I think you're exactly right, Nordo. The
evolution of the game has taken so many steps over
the past couple of years, and I truly think that
the NBA the officials have kind of gotten lost in that.
So I think you hit the nail on the head,
like the game's going to continue to evolve, but some
of these referees and you're just seeing the frustration coming
out of these coaches, and you know, credit to the

(06:54):
Wolves for like recentering themselves. You're playing the best team
in the league, Like, hey, we're trying to find a
way to win on a Friday night against you know,
the thunder who are you know, the best record in
the league. So I give the Wolves a lot of
credit for that too. But something I always kind of
learned growing up is like as a player, you got
to have a next play mentality. You can never control
what the officials.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Are going to do.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
Now you can, you can try to talk to them
and butter them up.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
The whole bit.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
I was guilty for that all the time. But you
have to have next play mentality and give the Wolves
a lot of credit for that Friday Night.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
Yeah, I'm probably wrong with this because I'm not going
to spend time going through all the NBA coaches fines
for things like this.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
I said it to n Ordo earlier.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
Is I think the NBA's way of conceding that there's
a problem here. Okay, and yes, that was an egregious
foul with two of them looking right at it.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
And but what finch?

Speaker 1 (07:44):
Did you never ever ever see coaches get that mad?
You got to find thirty five thousand? Are you kidding me?
I mean, I thought that was a one fifty minimum
for ship for nationally. You know, it's the prime It's
they're pushing the prime bid. It's a Friday night. I
thought it was a one or a one twenty five
or whatever. Thirty five. Come on, man, we can read

(08:04):
between the lines on that. Joe Doris and Studios strictly
be ball. Really cool conversation. I like to do it
more if you have time. Who who are the best
four teams in the Western Conference? OKC Denver? Which who
are the other two. I mean we got to talk Wolves, right, Joe.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
Yeah, I think the Wolves are a top four team
in the Western Conference. We just moved up to five
over the Rockets, who just lost to the Kings last night.

Speaker 6 (08:27):
The Wolves aren't the only team that can struggle against the.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
They lost that overtime game to the Kings.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
Yes, so the Rockets are I think, are you know,
losing a couple of games. I think the Wolves are
definitely not in the tier of the thunder even though
we beat them right now. But I think they're in
the second tier, and I think that puts them in
the top four.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
Well what about what about newfangled Luca? I mean this
needs to be taken very seriously. He cut weight, he
got himself in shape. He's keeping the weight off. The
triple double the other night with the five steals? Are
you kidding me with that? So you know, Lebron has
taken a backseat to a certain extent with the way
he's playing eight and when he plays wonderful pick and

(09:09):
roll center, one of the best in the NBA when
he's healthy, and he's gonna get rebounds for them, block
a shot or to a game, so they you know,
Austin Reeves can beat you from multiple positions.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
What do you think about the Lakers. I think Luca
needs to be taken seriously. I think if you have
him on the team, you have a chance to go
to the finals. I do think the Lakers will potentially
struggle in a seven game series against really athletic teams
like the Wolves, the Thunder, and the Rockets. So I
think eight and has been a lot better than I expected.
But I would put the Wolves, the Rockets, the Nuggets

(09:41):
in the Thunder over the Lakers right now.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
Yeah, and another team I truly love they didn't, you know,
show up in that NBA Cup Finals game is what
the Spurs are doing. Yeah, you know, you can't not
talk about Victor Wembinyama if they get.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
Two straight months out of wembin Yama with thirty plus
minutes Castle is playing with or out playing Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Oh, Delin Harper's coming on too.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
Yeah yeah, their backcourt core, even talking about the wing
position in Denossl and Keldon Johnson, like they got so
many pieces there with the Aaron Fox, Harper Castle like
they got they got a bright future there in San
Antonio and it's all spearheaded by Victor Wembiniama.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
I love that Joe dor strictly be ball the Timberwolves
to this point, just to just paint with a broad brush.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
Overall, what do you think?

Speaker 6 (10:24):
I think it was.

Speaker 4 (10:25):
It was kind of a frustrating start to the season,
especially with some poor point guard play. I think people,
you know, maybe overreacted a little bit early on, but
I still think it's an issue. Mike Conny looked great
last night, I will say, but I would say we're
we're what twenty and eleven right now?

Speaker 2 (10:48):
And ten? I think ten.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
I think overall, if you if you would have said
that we're gonna be nineteen and ten with a little
bit of struggle at the point guard play, you would
say it's a good start to the season.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
And I like where we're at.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
And I think the biggest thing to me that's been
promising is the play of Bones Highland. I think he's
going to be a serviceable player all season long, so.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
He's never played better. He was agree with the La Clippers,
where like you know, it was like a Harlem Globetrotters
type thing.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
He just was wild and Bones fits in. Yeah, and
he's the same age as Terren Shannon junr. Wow, And
I think that he's still considered we know you, we
don't consider.

Speaker 5 (11:23):
You're kidding me. Yeah, yeah, I'd put him at twenty eight,
twenty nine to thirty when he's twenty five years old.
You know, Shannon is obviously an older second year player,
but he's not considered a part of that young core.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
And he hasn't played a ton of NBA minutes. And
I think maybe this is the point in his career
where he's really matured to the point where he's always
had the skill set to be a good score, a
good playmaker, and I think he's now kind of, you know,
shaping up to be the player that a lot of
people thought he could have been early on.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
Joe Oh, go ahead, Barker.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
No, I was just going to say, like, I think
you have to go with that for a little bit
right now. Like a lot of people want to speculate trades,
but I heard Barrero talking about the other day, there's
just not a player that like lights my eyes up.
And if they're as a player, you just have to
give too much for him. So you wouldn't go Kobe
White straight up for Devingenzo. No, I just wouldn't I
what's interesting Ever since those rumors popped up. Yeah, Devincenzo's

(12:10):
been lights out balling. I mean that just that's how
the human works with a lot of these high enders. Yeah,
he's the perfect guy. And we have a six and
seven man if when you want to start bones at
the one and bring Dante off the bench with with
Nas and Dante, like that's a championship type of you know,
team like Dante. In my opinion, Dante is not a
starter on a championship type of team. But he's a

(12:30):
sixth man that comes in and knocks down shots. He
plays hard, he competes, he's not afraid to ruffle the
feathers a little bit. So I just don't love the
trade names on the block right now. I just think
you got to rock with what you have for a
little bit and if it doesn't work, then maybe you
make something happen at the deadline.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
See. I like Kobe White more than you. Yeah you do,
don't you.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
He's a tweener, I get it, But he is every
bit as good a three point shooter as Dante Divinenzo,
maybe a little more reckless with it.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
Yeah, and play.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
Defense and he's not in defend Genzo's class with that.
But he also I mean, I know Josh Getty's getting
a lot of love with the bulls. Vusevich no longer
draws doubles anywhere, and they don't let him shoot the
threes from the corner.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
But I don't know, He's just not the same. Yeah,
what else do we have there? We have? We have Trey.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
Jones, Cory Jones, Sean Carter, I wolda Assum, Patrick Williams.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
You know, there we go. He's good.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
But what I'm saying here is if you put Kobe
White with Anthony Edwards and Julius Randall and they got
to get the attention look out. Okay, I mean we're
talking seven eight assists a game, two three four threes
on average a game, more open shots.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
I'm just if there was.

Speaker 5 (13:44):
He gonna take too many shots, Kobe right here, Kobe White,
I mean that, I'm just curious what that change would be.
Because his usage from a shooting standpoint, well, he shoots more.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
I think he would shoot less here, yeah, because he
has to shoot more there because they have nineteen guards
and every time he.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
Hears the horn, he gets whiplash.

Speaker 5 (14:03):
Yeah, and that's That's a good point because I'm projecting Sam,
I'm projecting what I see from there to hear that
would have to be altered. But but the the ability
to distribute would be awesome, and and he would have
more open threes. Here is what I would guess, and
he is a better Okay, So de Vincenzo, if he's
even a one and a half, yeah, he's kind of

(14:24):
a he's kind of a yeah, he's a one and
a half.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
Yeah, But but Kobe's more of a he was a
point guard in North Carolina man.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
Yeah, yeah, that's his natural position. He's playing a little
bit more off the Ballion even reliable. They got like
a million Twitter file. I didn't know who it was
till this thing came out. I don't know much about
comment on legions.

Speaker 6 (14:41):
A lot of Legion hoops as well.

Speaker 4 (14:43):
There's really there's like, uh, I think they just you know,
aggregate what other report.

Speaker 5 (14:50):
So they're profiting off other people. They don't they don't
break any world.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
What they just do.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Attribution What a freaking work. God bless all of you.
You came up with it, you execute it, and it works.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Wow. Okay.

Speaker 1 (15:05):
Lastly, uh, the I think the Knicks are the best
team in the East, all right, But am I sure
changing the Pistons.

Speaker 6 (15:14):
I think the Knicks are the best team in the East.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
The Pistons are a fun regular season story to me,
and Kate Cunningham has been amazing, unbelievable. But I want
to bring up a different team. I think the Celtics.

Speaker 5 (15:27):
Jordan Walsh though, Jordan Walsh, Jordan Walsh enters the chat,
as the kids would say.

Speaker 4 (15:32):
He watched him a lot in high school. Actually a great,
great defense.

Speaker 5 (15:36):
What a tough sucker. I had heard of him until
two months ago. What a tough sucker. He had three
in high school. He's hitting threes now, so that's that's promising.
Jason Tatum is going to come back at some point
this season.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
I believe it too. What yeah, you know.

Speaker 4 (15:51):
In November he was already working out. I thought, I
literally thought it was ai.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
It's great.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
Yeah, there goes the Connor just paying them up great
players at players.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
I'm sitting here talking on the microphone.

Speaker 6 (16:02):
One of the fantasy basketball playoffs.

Speaker 4 (16:03):
I don't know if he'll be back for that, but
I think he's gonna come back, maybe in late March April.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Well, Jalen Brown's game will regress a little. Yeah, true.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
So, I mean Jalen has been alpha dog without Tatum.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
Yeah, and the Peyton Pritchard bit too, He's been a
lot better.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
Yeah. A thirty point triple double and Garza scores.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
Yeah, I mean Luca just came off an injury related
to layoff for like ten and ten.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
Yeah, that's the position. I think that's kind of a
question mark with the Celtics with Kaita and Luca. Yeah,
so you got to have a good front card if
you're going to, you know, make runs in the playoffs.
It is just okay, yeah, not to learn. Yeah, but young, right,
very young kid, but in the league at least. Yeah,
he's got the size. He's got to be a poor
man's Musa diabat. I kind of like that was kidding.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
Hey, Joe, let's do this again, especially when the Viking
season ends. Man, let's say, are your local, right, Yeah,
I'm local Minneapolis. Yeah, we don't need Parker here for
you to come by. Come on, man, we can go
back in the all you want. On Jordan Walsh and
the emergence of Jalen Johnson on Kim, I appreciate it
thank you very much. Thank you for having me my ma'am.
If I don't see you before Christmas, Merry Christmas. God

(17:07):
bless you Taylor on both of your families, and thanks
for everything in twenty twenty five.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
Yeah, I love Youpa.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
I got a text him Taylor this morning say I'm
Mary Christmas as well to you.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
So well you you guys all right, thank you Joe
Joe Dore strictly be ball back after that.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
If you miss those celebratory locker.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Room drive bys following the victory over the Giants, we're
going to play them back for you now. But first
Justin's school started. For Christian Dariso's out for the year.
Jurgons had to come in for Ryan Kelly. Brian O'Neil
was almost inactive all right. Watching him work out three
hours before the game on the field, I thought maybe
be inactive. Those are some of the toughest Ombreys Pete

(17:47):
and I have come across since calling games for about
two decades. The moving company continues to do good work.
You'll hear from Jurgins and O'Neil likewise for school in
these drive bys. But we begin with C. J. Hamm
who or the sea yesterday and he was quite touched.

Speaker 7 (18:02):
Oh yeah, it's truly a blessing. I mean, being a
captain for the previous four years and obviously the injuries
and everything during at the beginning of the season, it.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
Meant a lot. It's meant a lot.

Speaker 7 (18:12):
And uh, I'm just blessed to be on this team,
blessed to be with these guys and have the opportunity to,
you know, be one of the be one of the leaders.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
CJ.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
How about the squad, I mean, non playoff y're not preferred,
But after that Seattle game when you guys got shut
out and then now you've rattled off three in a
row into the Lions game on Christmas Day, the resolve
and the galvanizing nature of you guys sticking together. That
I mean, there are a lot of blowouts with teams
that are going to the playoffs we see weekly in
the NFL.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
That's not the case with the Vikings. What do you
think of that?

Speaker 7 (18:42):
Yeah, I mean, at the end of the day, we
still have something to play for. I mean, like you said,
it's been a up and down year. We're not making
the postseason, but man, there's so much there's so much
to play for for this team, for this culture. Every
everybody in here wants to wants to be a great
player and wants to do great things. So and that's
that's because of the culture that you know Ko has built.
And no matter what, if you step on that field,

(19:02):
we're trying to win.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
Lastly, my man McCarthy leaves at the end of the
first half on that big burns hip. Brozemer comes in,
finishes it out and you guys win. When when when
something like that happens during the course of a game,
and you know, the number two quarterback, who I would
imagine is not taking a lot of snaps with the
ones during the course of the week, like like, how
does that adjustment works?

Speaker 2 (19:24):
It's all because of Max. Max is a pro.

Speaker 7 (19:26):
He's he's one of the smart one of the smartest
guys on the team, to be honest with you, and
he knows exactly what to do and how to do it.
And I'm just so I'm so glad, I'm so glad
he got the opportunity and made the most of the
opportunity today to get us to get us.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
Ad my man, Merry Christmas to you. I know I'll
see you on Christmas Day. But God bless you and
your family, and it's always a great a winning and
be getting a chance to do a.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Drive by with you. Thank you, I appreciate you. Man
A CJ.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
Hamm fall back for the Minnesota Vikings victorious today for
a third consecutive time. Uh. They they were able to
beat the New York Giant. It's Michael, my ma'am. What's
going on? Michael Jerkins? Nice to chat with you in
this drive by. Sadly Ryan goes down, but you come
in and how did it work out?

Speaker 2 (20:11):
How you think things went for you?

Speaker 8 (20:13):
We got to win, so you know you're happy with that.
Like any game, it's gonna be good and it's gonna
be bad. You got to acknowledge the good and acknowledge
the bad and correct it and get ready for next week.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
Yeah, the Minnesota Moving Company had justin school, starting his
seventh game at left tackle and seemed to play well
again after that Cowboys game.

Speaker 2 (20:29):
Or he just went lights out.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
And I know Burns had a couple of sacks and
Abdull Carter, you know he wreaked a little havoc during
the game. But I mean those guys get to do
good things too. Burns and Carter are good and you
guys held up pretty well today. The cohesiveness of the
moving company seems to be improving as the season moves.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
On, for sure, I definitely think so.

Speaker 8 (20:47):
You know, we've had a lot of moving parts this
year and coach, Coach Cooper and Wes and Keith o assistant,
they've all done a great job, you know, preparedness, gettingus
ready for every game, and we're all getting reps in practice,
and you know, I think we have a really tight
group and I think I mean something at this point
in the year. We spent a lot of time together
yesterday and yeah, you know, we always say like it's
the NFL. They get paid too, They're gonna make plays.

(21:09):
They get paid to make plays.

Speaker 2 (21:10):
Yeah. IM proud of how we did, Stuf.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
I appreciate you man, great job, and Merry Christmas to you.
Best of luck against the Lions.

Speaker 2 (21:16):
All right, thank you, Mary Christmas. Do I appreciate you.

Speaker 1 (21:19):
That's Michael Jergins had to fill in for Ryan Kelly,
who had to leave the game in the first half,
and that obviously was an unfortunate situation, but Michael came
in nicely. Justin what's going on my man seventh start
at left tackle, lights out in the Cowboys game represented
very well again today, I'm gonna start here because you
played at Tampa Bay and like I don't follow their

(21:40):
penalty counsel or anythings in games.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
I mean, it was twenty two excepted today.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
Holy cal You ever been part of anything like that
with all those flags? No?

Speaker 2 (21:49):
I haven't.

Speaker 9 (21:49):
Yeah, there seemed to be a lot, but not much
we can do about it, you know what I mean,
Just try and clean up our technique and keep moving forward.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
Well, when you go against say, Abduel Carter and Burn
and the scheme that they offer a week after, you know,
the Dallas Cowboys where really, with all due respect, they
don't offer on the edge with the Giants offer on
the edge. What's the approach into the game when you
watch those guys on film.

Speaker 9 (22:12):
I think the approach is really just trying to stay
true to your technique and trying to play your game.
They're obviously really talented rushers, and so if you make
a mistake, you know they're going to capitalize on it.
And so just being disciplined enough to say true to
your technique, step in and snap out for sixty minutes.

Speaker 1 (22:26):
Lastly, thrive By with Justin School left tackle for the Vikings.
Brozemer comes into the second half. All right, he's not
taking a snaps with the ones during the course of
the week. It's not like he doesn't know what's happening.
But that's a big, big move. How was the huddle?
How did he handle everything?

Speaker 3 (22:40):
He handled it phenomenally.

Speaker 9 (22:41):
And that's how Max has been since he's gotten here,
is he's really taking command of the huddle.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
Whenever he stepped in.

Speaker 9 (22:45):
It's been impressive as a rookie to see him step
in command the huddle, no what he's supposed to be doing,
and so nothing changed today. We had all the confidence
in the world and as you can see, that's why
we had all the confidence.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
Yeah, and we're recording this before the Lions are playing
the Steelers. So under the assumption, Aiden Hutchinson play just
another day at the office. Right, You got Burns with
fifteen sacks one week, you go right into Aiden Hutchinson
the next week.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
Holy cow.

Speaker 9 (23:08):
Yeah, he's also a heck of a rusher, so we're
gonna have to have a good game plan for him
and bring our best game.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
A great job, my man, I appreciate thank you, I
appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (23:17):
Justin School the left tackle for the Minnesota Vikings with
Christian Darisaw being put on injured reserve for a remainder
of the season, and Justin came up big against us
some really good pass rushers, with the Vikings winning sixteen thirteen.
Max Brosmer My Man, Well, when you jumped on the

(23:37):
bus today, okay, Spearfish, Sam Newton, Nashua. The same question
every week if you happen to get into the game,
do you have a favorite play? You always have something
today and involved Nailor. What was the pass to the
right sideline to Nailor when he got twisted up?

Speaker 2 (23:52):
Was that that favorite play?

Speaker 10 (23:55):
The one that I were threw to the right? Yeah,
it was a good one. I thought it was a
great call. Actually, you know, I thought that the defense
was gonna do something different to me that play, and
I ended up looking over there too long and ultimately
made a throw that was pushing into the sideline away
from a safety in a post safety, so it could
have done a beat job on my end holding safety.
And understand that I can, you know, use my eyes
to dictate the flow over the defense going but Jalen

(24:17):
ran a good route and could have done a beat
job putting ball on him.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Max.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
How about the guy to your left, Justin Jefferson. I
mean the the I know you had a twenty nine
yard hit and that's Seattle game. That's still your NFL
long bro that passed right hash to the left side
line to Justin to catch Justin made I mean that
that has to be as your career goes, as it
continues to develop, that has to be like one of
the highlights.

Speaker 10 (24:38):
Right I think so. I mean I thought, again, go
back to the call, just understanding what we were gonna
get on, you know, a third and extra long. I
thought that when he called the playoff, I was like
thinking the exact same thing in the Houdel and you know,
Justin ran.

Speaker 4 (24:51):
A great route.

Speaker 10 (24:51):
Protection wise, I'm thuring Long, we couldn't have protected better.
I mean, I didn't get touched and making that throw.
It's a lot easier when the old lines doing their
job up front, you know, getting a great protection. We
see you on the right side there and we get
a you know, a lick by the tight end of
the left and it just kind of all came together
and just went a great route, had a great catch
at the end. You know that Josh had been talking

(25:12):
about that balls either from out of bounds or complete
on sideline and Justin made it right, which is really
cool and being the guy to throw that ball to
him is really cool.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
Feeling feeling too.

Speaker 1 (25:21):
Last one bud for Max bros Brozemer with a drive by.
Kind of a rough day for some Gophers today. Nuban
gets knocked out of the game, but then he comes back.
But Nuba also had the have the only touchdown for
the Giants. John Michael Schmidt's he he goes down. You
you are part of your very first victory. When when
when it comes to what you do during the course
of a week as as the backup quarterback and then

(25:43):
you come in and play, like like how does that work?
I mean how much work with the ones do you
get during the course of the week, And like how
can you come in and be so secure when you're
coming in call?

Speaker 10 (25:53):
Yeah, you don't. You don't get anywhere to be honest,
as the backup. Sometimes you might get one or two routes,
you know, if you know Jaj need a break, and
that's kind of your job as a backup is like
if he needs if he's good on the route and
he needs we need a route to be run, I'll
be you gotta throw it. But you know, everything it's mental.
It's it's behind behind the ones, watching them, watching them
take the reps and try to put yourself in that

(26:15):
in that space, and having great guys around you too
help your pair is really important too. Josh and j
T and John Wolford. I mean, it's a truly a room.
It's not just a one man show. You know. Throughout
the week, it's the preparation with the other quarterbacks and
the coaches, and then on the field it's the same thing.
It's like, you know, we saw this, this and this.
They're changing up this look. They're giving us more of
this look than we saw on film. And it's constant communication.

(26:36):
And I felt, you know, with with the structure of
that system, it's it makes it easier to go in
and play, not easy, but easier than it would be.
So we got a great, you know, structure around us.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
That was a beautiful explanation.

Speaker 1 (26:48):
It also includes center Michael Jergins, who had to come
in and play and school starting to left tackle for
a second consecutive game. It takes a village man. Congratulations, Yeah,
thanks man, that's so Max Rosmore quarterback for the minutes.
The Vikings, quick little drive by here with the game changer,
Jarvis Landry. You are familiar with them, right of course,
pretty good wide receiver for many, many years. Now Randy

(27:09):
Moss Hall of Famer, you're quite familiar with him, right
of course. All right, well, Randy's next. We got Jarvis
today with justin securing the most receptions by anybody in
the history of the NFL through their first six seasons.

Speaker 2 (27:21):
It's a non playoff, yere Man.

Speaker 1 (27:23):
I know that bugs you, and I know there have
been some things that have eaten at you during the
course of the year because you're a high end game changer.
But today had to be one of the most different
games you've ever been involved in. I'm talking high school
LSU the whole thing, with all the penalties, you got,
offensive lineman getting replaced court new quarterback in the second half.

Speaker 11 (27:41):
What you think, Yeah, it was definitely one of those,
you know, difficult games just to you know, embrace all
of the different stuff that's going on. But I'm just
proud of the guys just from staying in intact and
you know, of course keeping their head up and continue
going forward.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
So definitely shout out to Max.

Speaker 11 (28:02):
From finishing the game in the second half and leading
us to this victory. And then of course defensive defensively,
they always been doing good making plays and you know,
putting us in great positions to go score to you know,
change the game.

Speaker 1 (28:16):
So it was a great team effort justin you know,
it's with these records that you break every single year
or you set them. I mean, that's football immortality. It's
not arrogant to be proud of those records. Man, you
work really really hard. You've had some non playoff years,
You've had some playoff years, but I mean, to have
the most receptions and eventually the most yards, you know,
assuming you pass MOS's next game, how do you feel

(28:38):
about all that?

Speaker 11 (28:40):
It's so you know, surreal, you know, just to really
think about the work that I put in and just
from being you know, doubted and not really being looked
at the same as other top receivers, I felt like
I was in the same boat with So it's just
an honor, a blessing to be in this situation to
have the yards, have the catches, Uh, you know, just

(29:03):
to be the person that I am today. It's very
very I'm very grateful for that, grateful for the life
that I.

Speaker 2 (29:10):
Get to live every single day.

Speaker 11 (29:11):
So, uh, it's definitely a blessing.

Speaker 1 (29:13):
I'll preach I was fantastic. Lastly, I'm just gonna give
you just I don't want to say advice, but just
something to start thinking about now with a Christmas Day
game Lions trash talkers.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
I mean, you've gone back and forth with the Meek.

Speaker 1 (29:25):
Robertson and a bunch of the people in the secondary
for the Lions, so you got to kind of get
your mind.

Speaker 2 (29:30):
Right for that now, right.

Speaker 11 (29:31):
Oh yeah, it's a quick turnaround, a quick week, you know,
play Thursday, so uh you know really just of course
focused on this win for for twenty four hours and
then you know, once that hit, then it's on to
something new and something better, which we play in front
of our home fans on Christmas Day. Uh, that's a
blessing that you know in disguise. So it's just an

(29:55):
an honor to be back on this field, to be
healthy after this game, for us to go into the
week on Thursday, quick time around to you know, get
a good win.

Speaker 1 (30:04):
Merry Christmas, Man, you're fantastic. Congratulations on cracking that receptions
record today. God bless you and your family and can't
wait to call the next one, sir. Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas.
Justin Jefferson, you got it, justin. Thank you very much.
The vikings, Ay b O'Neil, Brian O'Neil man. I mean,
you know, not that it matters to you or anything.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
You're a tough guy.

Speaker 1 (30:24):
And you know when I see players out there before
the game, two two and a half hours for the game.

Speaker 2 (30:28):
It's a fifty to fifty at best.

Speaker 1 (30:30):
And you know, I don't know. I don't know what
you're playing through. I don't know how badly it hurts.
It's not my business, but it was sketchy as to
whether you were going to play today. It's important to you,
I can tell, and always has been, to push through
injuries and be that guy that's there for the rest
of the team, isn't it.

Speaker 12 (30:46):
Hell yeah? I mean, if you can play, you play.
You know, there's there's a reason why this is so special.
There's a reason why so many people want to do this.
This is the reason why it's the best job.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
In the world.

Speaker 12 (30:56):
There's a reason why so many people miss it. If
you've got a chance to playing the NFL, you do it.
And so if there's a chance, I'm gonna be out there.

Speaker 1 (31:04):
Lastly, Jurgons PESTI filling for Kelly. Feel bad for Ryan Kelly.
You know, Darisa's done for the rest of the year.
School starts a second consecutive seventh to seventh here for
the Vikings.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
How bought those guys man jumping in there? Oh yeah,
you know.

Speaker 12 (31:17):
It took everybody, and it's taken everybody this year, you know,
And kudos to those guys stepping in and being able
to communicate well on the road. I thought Jergons did
a really good job at the line of scrimmage. Coupled
with having to do two different quarterbacks, you know, the
communication between JJ Ryan JJ, Jergs Max Jerks. The whole

(31:38):
thing was very seamless from a standpoint. So credit to
the coaches, Credit to those guys for staying ready and
realizing that, you know, over the course of the NFL season,
you know, when your numbers.

Speaker 2 (31:48):
Called, you gotta be ready to go.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
One of my favorites man, just seriously, I mean that
Merry Christmas see you on.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
Thursday, Mary Christmas can't wait.

Speaker 13 (31:54):
Guys.

Speaker 1 (31:55):
Ryan O'Neil right tackle for the Minnesota Vikings. Victorious by
three points today over the New York Giants, who have
lost nine consecutive games. And the Vikings next get the
Detroit Lions on Christmas Day. That one that begins about
three thirty. I'm gonna roll over here with Eric Wilson,

(32:16):
real quick, quick drive by. You're having a really good
arm day today? Is this different than like any other day?

Speaker 13 (32:22):
You know, arm day gets juiced up after I win,
for sure, so excited for the boys.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
Let me ask you this, whether it's well, it's not
here because I've called all your games here, Green Bay, Cincinnati,
wherever you played high school football in Michigan. Have you
ever been part of a game with twenty two accepted
penalties like today? It was twenty two total men And
I'll tell you this, it just didn't stop.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 13 (32:46):
Well, honestly, we knew that they were like the most,
they threw the most flags to this point. But at
a certain point it gets a little ridiculous, is what
it is.

Speaker 2 (32:56):
You got to play on.

Speaker 13 (32:58):
Can't let it get to you and just go out
there turn that rage into into physicality and violence.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
So you're from Redford, Michigan, Is that what it is?

Speaker 13 (33:06):
Yep?

Speaker 2 (33:07):
Okay, cool.

Speaker 1 (33:07):
Now you went back and beat the Lions with your
family and friends there and everything. Now they come to
town on Christmas Day? Is it another division team? So
of course that matters beating division teams. But like when
you get a chance to beat the Lions, does that
feel a little extra special because you're from Michigan.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
Yeah, I honest, see, I wouldn't say so. I would
I wouldn't say so.

Speaker 13 (33:28):
I think me being in the league and you know,
in this division for as long as I have, it's
a little you know, division game gets a little chippy.
It's like, you know, they're like rivalry games. You play
each other so much. It's like, you know these guys,
you played against them. So it's a matter of going
out there and put it all together. Man, We're we're
doing some good stuff and it's a matter of being consistent.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
Six and a half Saxophory Man, congratulations on the victory.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
Thanks Man, appreciate that.

Speaker 1 (33:53):
Eric Wilson one of the best defensive players on the
Minnesota Vikings and he came through today.

Speaker 2 (33:57):
For Jalen Redmond. Lee's got to do a drive by
with it him.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
Uh, the sack for number six, fantastic, the the right,
the the block shot, as Kevin O'Connor would call it,
the pass defense near the end of the game.

Speaker 2 (34:09):
I mean that was big, man.

Speaker 1 (34:10):
And you know a lot of teams we're getting those
block shots against the Vikings for a while, and you know,
you could tell it was an emphasis here with Marcus Dixon,
your d line coach and Flora's and everything to start
deflecting some passes at the line.

Speaker 2 (34:23):
And you've really come through with that. That's suff's important, man, right.

Speaker 14 (34:26):
Yeah, man, it's just uh, it's really it's drilled every day.
So he's drilled on the daily, and it's just ingrained
in me. When you can't get there, the best thing
to do is get your hands up.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
Never know, Hey, lastly here with this drive bikes, everybody
wants to leave. It feels like we've been here three weeks.
Uh but uh but nevertheless, uh with with with you
week by week. I mean physically mentally, we're near the
end of the season, man, and you play a lot
and you've you've been you know, I mean, I could argue.
You're the Vikings defensive MVP. How do you keep yourself fresh?
How do you keep yourself mentally and physically fresh?

Speaker 2 (34:57):
Uh?

Speaker 14 (34:58):
Physically, you just you know, get in training room and
do everything you gotta do, you know, spend spend money
on your body.

Speaker 13 (35:03):
So uh.

Speaker 14 (35:04):
Mentally, man, I'm blessed to be here. So I'm just
I'm taking it, you know. Day by day, I'm just
happy to be here, happy to do my job. You're fantastic, man.
Congratulations on the victory, sir, Thank you. Man's jailen Redman.

Speaker 1 (35:16):
He's got six rye buys after three in a row,
four ko three in a row, four b flow the
border battle with Sinnia's next border battle.

Speaker 5 (35:28):
Clay fingers looking the throat, going deco, searching, d trick,
catch me touchdown, Bears HiT's.

Speaker 3 (35:37):
Over at soldier fields the.

Speaker 8 (35:40):
Ice span, Covin on the ice span.

Speaker 2 (35:42):
Take it. I'm forty six yards from the mock spiral
to the end zone to DJ Moore twenty.

Speaker 12 (35:49):
Two sixteen Bears four fifteen overtime and DJ Moore is
mobbed in the north of a soldier field.

Speaker 2 (35:57):
But I'll bring the monk. Howre you feeling in a
couple of days removed from the.

Speaker 15 (36:01):
Alf Or on to Baltimore.

Speaker 1 (36:04):
My man, yeah, yeah, I understand that. When when does
IU Alabama play?

Speaker 15 (36:09):
That would be New Year's Day Rose Bowl three four
o'clock something like that.

Speaker 1 (36:13):
What'd you think of the Crimson Tide and the comeback
against the Sooners?

Speaker 15 (36:18):
That was crazy, man, I mean, they looked so bad
down twenty of them zip. They weren't taxed on anybody.
They looked as interested and like they they got to
pick six and they flipped the switch. But I don't
know that they're going to be able to put up
a lot of points on Indiana's defense. I feel pretty
good about my Alma mater's.

Speaker 2 (36:34):
Chances Border Battle.

Speaker 1 (36:37):
Dave Dave sennecon at TC had Cheese, host of Packer
Preview podcast Packer Review, available via the free iHeart audio app. Dude,
do you think the offense the Packers offense would have
been better with Jordan Love other than Malik Willis, who really,
up until the latter stages of the fourth quarter, I
thought that whole thing was fantastic.

Speaker 15 (37:00):
Do I think the Packers' offense is better with Jordan
loveek Willis?

Speaker 2 (37:03):
In that particular game against the Bear.

Speaker 15 (37:08):
Yeah. Absolutely, I mean, for sure, no question about it.
You're bringing Malik Willis and you are going to have some,
I think advantages over a defense that now has to
play an offense that looks different than the one you
prepare for. So I think that was, you know, a
little bit tough on chicago'sd to deal with that. Malik's
the ideal backup. But no, I once once Jordan Love

(37:29):
left that game, I knew we were going to be
in for a battle. I just was so impressed with
how our defense held up for fifty eight minutes or
so and kept that thing down, and you know, it
took craziness, just like the Browns game. It was like
a replay of what happened in Cleveland, a replay what
happened in the twenty fourteen championship game in Seattle. Just
all kinds of bad flashbacks watching the end of that one.

Speaker 1 (37:52):
What do you do with K nine guys just rolling
them out there again against Styler Hotley?

Speaker 15 (37:58):
Yeah, I think so. I mean, I think I think
you have to. I mean, right now, we're I'm more
worried about whether Clayton Tuon is going to be our
starting quarterback Saturday night because Malik hurt that shoulder on
the last play in regulation. Apparently he's in a lot
of pain. I don't know if Jordan's going to be cleared.
Jayden reads the emergency quarterback might be some of that
might be the Tyler Huntley Clayton tuon show Saturday night

(38:21):
on Peaton Watch.

Speaker 2 (38:22):
I didn't realize that. Did you see Finchy on Friday night?

Speaker 15 (38:26):
I did?

Speaker 2 (38:27):
How about this? Did you? What? What do you think about?

Speaker 15 (38:32):
You gotta love seeing that he was. You've never seen
Fincey explode like that. I mean, that was just I
can't imagine what that place was like. I heard from
a few people that were there, and they said it
was it was like, oh, four Conference finals, you know,
two years ago whatever. Uh, he got that place lit up,
the players lit up. Yeah, that was That was fun
to see Finchy lose it like that. And uh and

(38:53):
Mike Andrei pushed all the right buttons that night to
get it done.

Speaker 1 (38:56):
What What are the reports with Jordan Love's head? I mean,
I know he's in concussion protocol, but is anybody casting
their gaze as to whether he'll play next game?

Speaker 15 (39:06):
Yeah? I don't know. I mean the few reports. I've
been able to sort of parse through the lines. It
sounds like he's feeling a little better, but nobody knows,
you know, how he's going to react. It's the first
concussion he's ever been documented with as an NFL player,
you know, the last three seasons as a player, so
everybody reacts differently everything. Each one is obviously either more
or less severe than the other, so you know it's

(39:28):
going to be tough. It's seven days though it's Saturday
to Saturday. It's not a short week, but you know,
I would think it's less than fifty to fifty that
he goes. And you know, thanks to Aaron Rodgers and
the Steelers, Green Bay just need one win or one
Lion loss to reach the postseason. So by the time
they take the field Saturday night, if your voice, take
care of business, since the kiddies will have punched our

(39:50):
ticket before we even take the field.

Speaker 2 (39:52):
Been been a rough one this year for Rashan Gary, right.

Speaker 1 (39:54):
And the reason I say that is when we were
on buses from the New York Airport to the team hotel,
just super super late, I'm listening to Wayne Laravie called
the game and Rashan Gary made a fat play at
the end of the game, and Laravie just he elevated
things and basically was like, you know, not saying where
has that been, but he celebrated the moment with Rashawn Gary.

(40:17):
It's been a rough one with him, hasn't it terrible?

Speaker 15 (40:20):
Yeah, He's due a whole lot of money the next
two years, and Green Bay would would get out of
it in one second if they could fight a trade partner.
There are some that think they might even cut him
and just swallow the money. He's really fallen off a
map this year. After the first month of the season.
He thought with Michaeh Parsons it would just open up
all kinds of production for him. And I've seen a

(40:40):
few clips from Saturday Night in Chicago where it's focused
on Gary and you don't see the effort. You don't
see him running hard after Caleb Williams scrambling. He's just
kind of jogging and maybe he's injured, and he hasn't
talked about it, but he looks like a guy that's
fallen off the map. He's a big calf number and
I think green Bay would move on from him and
go with the young guys. In one second if they could.

Speaker 2 (41:01):
Have a great Christmas. Love you buddy, call you.

Speaker 15 (41:03):
Next week you too, Please, We're rooting for you Christmas dates.
He's got a w for us, my man.

Speaker 1 (41:08):
Have a great day, yes, sir David senekon at TC
head Geez speaking of TC nine to noon is at
TCO and the radio studio tomorrow four our TCO Tuesday.
