Speaker 2 (00:15):
Right then?

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Did you just do your.

Speaker 4 (00:18):
Own theme song every time Mario, every time you walk
into understand for me, this is very nostalgic, Angie, like
your voice is a very is a staple for me
as an artist, as a creative.

Speaker 5 (00:31):
You know, you're one of the first voices that I
ever heard in New York City. That's something legendary.

Speaker 6 (00:36):
I think, then I should have a song when I
walk into a room, but it's yours, So I think
you should make you pression you were you're gonna use
it if I really what would.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
It sound like?

Speaker 3 (00:44):
It'd be like Angie, Like, what would.

Speaker 5 (00:46):
It be like?

Speaker 7 (00:47):
It would be my like Angie, Angie, I have to
walk slough when you hear that voss No, that is
my baby, Angie. I don't know something said, but that's
just me off the cost.

Speaker 5 (01:03):
You know, that's not even me getting in my bag yet.
I got you though.

Speaker 6 (01:06):
I feel that until every time I be when I'm
coming in, you just play it and then I'll walk
in while.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
You know what I'm saying, he actually not feeling it
that day.

Speaker 8 (01:16):
You just play it anywhere that will put me in
the mood. I'm saying I love that, the fact that
you could do stuff like that on the spot, and
so up it's you deny, you stop, stop, So.

Speaker 5 (01:27):
What's up with you?

Speaker 3 (01:28):
We're getting ready for album drop out?

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Does that feel with your zone? Like, what your mood like?
What does this music sound like?

Speaker 4 (01:34):
It feels very you know, I've seen this already, you know,
I have four visions for it. Glad You came as
a project that mentally has been in the making for
a while, but me and James Laurd, who executive produces record,
was just trying to match our schedules together.

Speaker 5 (01:49):
It was crazy.

Speaker 9 (01:50):
You know, he's working with Bruno, working with all these people,
and I was just moving around doing to is.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
This your first time or you worked with him before?

Speaker 5 (01:55):
We worked before, but not a whole album.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
So I recorded records that ended up on other artists
of his. Like, we were in the studio talking about
all of it, stuff that we didn't even know we
were a part of. So it was just a four
circle moment. But this album, intentionally, for me, it's just
getting back to the root of what R and B
is to me. Yes, where people hear my first album,
what is that like? Mario the Mario album, the first album,
it was very much so direct, you know, specifically talking

(02:21):
straight to the ladies, you know, boy next Door, like
you know, records like Chick with the Braves, Break My Head,
just a Friend, These are all records that were bangers, bangers,
but I thank you, I appreciate you. But also just
the conversation and it was so direct and timeless. So
really just getting back to that. You listen to records
like glad you came on this album, a new single,
keep Going, that's out, you know, it's all paying homage

(02:44):
to that emotion, that intention behind R and B and
really is like, okay, can this.

Speaker 5 (02:49):
Play ten years from now?

Speaker 9 (02:50):
Still?

Speaker 5 (02:50):
That's like the that's the conversation.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Where what about does it affect like where you are
in your personal life?

Speaker 4 (02:56):
Like the music that you make, Like I think my
personal life affects the music that I make it and
the way that the music affects my personal life is
just making me more busy, you know what I'm saying,
not being home, you know, And that's that's a whole
other lane as a man now that I have to
do it and be like, you know what, if I
want a relationship, I gotta balance both out. You know

(03:16):
what I'm saying, making those calls in the morning at
night when I'm done.

Speaker 5 (03:19):
You know all that.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
But how's that?

Speaker 4 (03:20):
My personal life affects the music a lot because it
gives me reference. You know, when I'm in a studio
and I have writers black, all I have to do
is think.

Speaker 5 (03:30):
About my life.

Speaker 4 (03:31):
Think about the conversations I have on my shorty, think
about the ones that's great, the moments where we don't communicate,
the moments when we do, the moments when I'm thinking about, damn,
how she really feels stuff she may not be telling me.
I put all of that into music because my music
is very imaginative. I write very metaphorically sometimes, and I
like that because it allows me to be as creative
as I want to be.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
I'm just trying to see if you're like because you know,
are you R and B guy at home?

Speaker 3 (03:54):
Too? You know what I mean? Are you like R
and B guy in your relationship?

Speaker 5 (03:58):
Not as much as I I think that should be.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
You know, are you like walking around like do you
show up with like no shirt on and flowers for
your lady?

Speaker 3 (04:07):
You know what I'm saying?

Speaker 4 (04:08):
Not guy, Honestly, she'd be like, yo, you need to
be more romantic, Like, honestly, come on, I know, I know,
come on, I have my days, but when I'm in it,
I'm in it.

Speaker 5 (04:18):
But it's just because I've been super busy. I've been
busy and it's not an excuse.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
But at the same time, every day has been like
you know, I'm running New Citizen, which is my label.

Speaker 5 (04:27):
You know, I got my investment side.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
I do it movies movie side.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
Like it's so much stuff, you know, she understands, But
is the more stuff I get in my bag? Though?

Speaker 5 (04:34):
I get my bag in your bag?

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Show what is you did the BZ movie just recently Christmas?

Speaker 5 (04:40):
For Christmas? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Is there more stuff come into or absolutely?

Speaker 4 (04:42):
I got scripts that I'm writing right now that I'm
pitching that I'm selling. I got about to build a
studio soon, like a film studio soon on the West
Coast and maybe another place too. That's gonna happen probably
in the next year. But all these things are in
the works, Like I have like big visions for like
New Citizen productions and.

Speaker 5 (04:59):
The type of what is New Citizens? Where did you
come up with that New Citizen?

Speaker 4 (05:03):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (05:04):
So New Citizen came about I would say after I.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
Left, right before I did my first independent project, I
was in a space of like this whole spiritual journey
just finding myself, like really like coming moving back from
to LA from Baltimore, just deciding.

Speaker 5 (05:19):
Like what do I want my life to look like? Right?

Speaker 4 (05:22):
And I was rebuilding myself basically, So it's like I
became a new citizen of my own personal universe. So
that's kind of how it like developed into something.

Speaker 5 (05:30):
I was like, you know what I need.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
Whatever I I name it, it has to be a
part of who I am. I can walk in every
day and feel proud of. And it's growing with the net.
So I did that for all my companies.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
It's a good name nobody had. Nobody had it had it.
That was like you got a logo, Yeah, I got
a logo.

Speaker 5 (05:50):
So it's like it's a it's a it might be on.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
That paper, that's what I was looking. I don't see it.

Speaker 5 (05:54):
They can't put it on there.

Speaker 4 (05:55):
Okay, now we gotta get it on the things so
I can find it's it's basically a crescent, so it's
a new it says new and then the crescent moon
is the sea citizen and The crescent moon is just
an ancient symbol that represents wisdom.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
And you know, so you are R and B do
it at heart?

Speaker 1 (06:13):
You do have R and B tendencies, you know. I
hit them with the crescent moon. So it gives R
and B doing a little bit.

Speaker 5 (06:21):
I take it.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
I like list.

Speaker 5 (06:24):
I guess I'm R and B a hard they can't leave.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
Let's see if you're in your questionnaire says your R
and B do it at hard too. Let's say what
you got here?

Speaker 5 (06:31):
Can you understand my writing? Because I never write?

Speaker 2 (06:33):
I can.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
Why don't you never write? A songwriter? Here?

Speaker 5 (06:36):
I have all my stuff in here? Is crazy?

Speaker 3 (06:38):
What's the last thing?

Speaker 7 (06:39):
You ate?

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Many many Dutch pancakes? What is that?

Speaker 5 (06:44):
These many pancakes at this spot called of pain?

Speaker 3 (06:48):
It's like an I think it's like a French sounds delicious.

Speaker 5 (06:52):
It's amazing.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
What is on your bucket list? Swimming with the sharks.
I'm surprised you haven't done that, and why do you
want to do that?

Speaker 8 (06:59):
So?

Speaker 5 (06:59):
I think sharks so amazing, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
Like sometimes they get a bad rep because the people think, oh,
if you see a shot, they're gonna attack you.

Speaker 5 (07:05):
I actually swim with a shark and didn't know and.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
Uh yeah yeah, and where was that turks and turks
you know the out there.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
They didn't They didn't tell me because I had we
had docked, and I was like, Yo, I'm gonna swim
back to the dock, y'all take the boat.

Speaker 5 (07:20):
I'm gonna swim back.

Speaker 4 (07:20):
It was only like probably like fifty sixty feet. So
I jumped off the boat and it was shocks under me. Oh,
swimming the whole time, the whole time. I'm glad they
didn't tell me. I'm anybody catch it or no, they
just didn't tell me. They no one said anything til
I guy was like, yo, you know, you swim like
it was like four shocks down there swimming. So, but
what I'm talking about is like out in the ocean,
like I'm talking about like when they go out there

(07:43):
to catch crabs and the waters is up dark, and
I want to do that. Why just because I feel
like the ocean is something like if you can get
over your I'm not fearful of the ocean, but it's
one of those things where you don't realize.

Speaker 5 (07:54):
The power of it until you in it.

Speaker 4 (07:55):
M H and I feel like it gives you power,
like coming off of that, coming back to like do
whatever I do in life. It just gives you power.
Anything that's powerful in nature, like it gives you energy.
So it's like you'll know what it's like until you try.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
This is very R and B.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
A you're the next one. What is your superpower? What
I say discretion, Yes, that is mad R and B.
I love that, But for me, that's not R and
B because I feel like discretion is like some that's
gangster to me, like if you can do be who
you are for real and like and get things done
and not nobody know your business, but you're still making

(08:30):
it happen, like that's gangs.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
You know, that's pretty good you discreet.

Speaker 5 (08:35):
I haven't heard nothing about energy.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
I don't think.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
I don't think the term R and B means soft
or not gangster.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
You could be your R and B and still be
gangs stuff.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
To me, R and B means more like poetic, like
like oh yeah, if that's me, that's what I mean.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
That's when I think of it like that.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
I don't think if you go through my text messages
with my shorty or just like how I write ideas
down like super R and B.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
I know it is already know that's how I think
R and B. I don't think it has to be soft.

Speaker 5 (08:59):
I mean this.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
I just think it means like you're like, yeah, yeah, smooth,
like you know what I mean.

Speaker 5 (09:05):
Facts facts.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
Discretion is a.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Very like discretion as a superpower.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
Is a superpower that means, baby, don't worry.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
You don't got to worry about this.

Speaker 4 (09:15):
Or it's like or it's like when somebody like I
put the R and B voice on, you don't gotta
worry somebody like you know somebody.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
Ution is my superpower. That sounds like an intro for
R and B song right there.

Speaker 5 (09:26):
That sounds like a song title discretion.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
Why haven't you done it?

Speaker 5 (09:30):
I'm about to do it and need it like I'm working.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
On that, Okay.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
And your celebrity crush is Nia along.

Speaker 4 (09:38):
Yeah, that's that's cute that you know Nia is. She's
very specially her eyes so deep.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
Have you ever liked Yeah, I hung out with Nia
and she's dope.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
She's like a cool girl.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
Have you met her?

Speaker 5 (09:50):
I've met her before. It was like on a red card.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
She knows you're like, she's your celebrity crush now, but
you know, I got.

Speaker 5 (09:55):
To show it's a respectful But yeah, she's the one.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
Yeah, yeah, she's the one of all the crushes.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
So oh and what is your go to karaoke song?

Speaker 3 (10:06):
Rock with you?

Speaker 5 (10:07):
Michael? You probably body that that's my favorite Michael song.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
But do you body it?

Speaker 1 (10:13):
You have to close your eyes.

Speaker 5 (10:16):
It's not fair.

Speaker 10 (10:17):
Let the rhythm get into you. Don't try to fight it. Hey,
there's nothing that you can do.

Speaker 11 (10:28):
Mhm.

Speaker 10 (10:30):
Relax, mind, lay back and cool and mind you gotta
feel that.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
And a week a rib and bugay.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
Yo, you're probably terrible to do karaoke with.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
Nobody wants to get on karaoke. We did karaokee my
house and the Thanksgiving and let Me Love You?

Speaker 1 (10:58):
Does anybody sing let Me Love You in your karaoke?

Speaker 5 (11:01):
Just because she could sing? She always does, she body?
So this is what happened.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
My son did it.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
My son didn't let Me love You?

Speaker 5 (11:06):
Ahead what happened in your karaoke?

Speaker 3 (11:09):
And I did.

Speaker 9 (11:09):
We did it in groups, so people were like in
groups of threes.

Speaker 5 (11:12):
Right.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
They went up to my closet, got my jerseys, got
my jackets and did just a friend.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
That's fire. Yeah, my son Nicola did let me love you.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
He kind of bodied it.

Speaker 5 (11:24):
He kind of he got some he got he's got.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
He's got a little bit of pipes. He don't really
use them. He shy of them, but whenever he decided.

Speaker 5 (11:32):
He'd be getting shy around you sometimes.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
No, I just think he.

Speaker 4 (11:35):
Doesn't like call himself a singer or anything, but he
he a little note that's fire.

Speaker 6 (11:40):
So he kind of bodied that in karaoke. And when
I said, Mike, you gotta sing it too, Hell no,
hell go.

Speaker 5 (11:52):
He let the people hear.

Speaker 6 (11:52):
So I like to go for like an s w
v wee or like I like to go for like
sometimes I'll go crazy, depends what we're drinking. I go
crazy and go for like a Kelly Clarkson. Since you've
been gone, go horrid at them, you know what I mean?

Speaker 5 (12:09):
Get you right with you.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
But I'm gonna be honest. It's terrible.

Speaker 5 (12:12):
It's terrible.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
It's terrible, all these years to listen to music. Maybe
you can help me.

Speaker 5 (12:16):
I can help you, for sure. Can you really teach
you how to start with confidence?

Speaker 9 (12:20):
You gotta be okay with messing up a couple of
times and not being perfect.

Speaker 6 (12:23):
Give me a good karaoke song that I could sing,
so you think everybody could kind of because people think
they could.

Speaker 5 (12:30):
Let me love you is a good one.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Tucy just did toss. Yeah, it wasn't bad.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
For you.

Speaker 5 (12:39):
I don't know what type of voice you.

Speaker 9 (12:40):
I don't know if you've got a raspy voice.

Speaker 5 (12:42):
Him, give me a little.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
Mario, oh ship, tell me how to do it again, Marie.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
All right, I'm doing Mario.

Speaker 2 (12:55):

let me try.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
Let me try, Mario.

Speaker 5 (13:01):
See you in the key. That's that's a starting point.
Is that good?

Speaker 3 (13:04):
Some people don't even be in there in the right key.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
That's terrible.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
So okayse Mario, you did like a thing that I can't.

Speaker 4 (13:11):
Yeah, I can't do that. Okay, keep me in my
tone in the right key. Okay, give him something in
the wrong key, so at least you know my key
was good.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
Okay, good, great, okay, great, Okay.

Speaker 4 (13:20):
I would say, okay, so you gotta I would say,
like a Okassie, Oh.

Speaker 5 (13:31):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 11 (13:31):
Like you can do that?

Speaker 3 (13:32):

pocket because you need a pocket.

Speaker 4 (13:35):
I ain't gonna say, Mary, no, I ain't gonna get
because married, you gotta go. You gotta need great pipes
for that.
