(00:00):
Preesting three Commissioner Tom Ramsey joins us, thanks for coming back on. Tom.
Lena Hildago says we're good? Arewe good? Or could we use
a little state help? Listen? The State of Texas is the most critical
partner a county can have during anydisaster and really in any instance. So
to say something like that is clearlya misrepresentation at best politics that it's worse.
(00:28):
What we need is leadership. Ithink we're getting it from a lot
of areas. I met with personallywith Lieutenant Governor Patrick earlier in the week.
I told specifically what our needs are. Chief Kid, who's been doing
this for fifteen years, is probablythe most exceptional resource we have in the
(00:49):
state. So to not answer thepoem or to send a text that's irresponsible.
Can I ask you this? Imean, you're the loan Republican on
there County Commissioner's Court. Can youindividually for your precinct to ask for state
help? Or do you have towait for Lena Hidalgo or Rodney Ellis or
whoever else is running this county tomake the request for you? Listen,
(01:14):
there's I have one point two millionpeople in my precinct. And really here
it's county functions day in and dayout. As a precinct led county,
no resources get to the people withoutgoing through the precincts. We have twenty
two crews that are out there thismorning working picking up debris, dealing with
(01:37):
the issues. I don't call thejudge to talk about those things. We
make decisions individually, whether it's Commissionof Garcia, Commission Brionis. We're managing
that at a precinct level. Thestate knows it, we understand it.
This is how it's functioning in thisarea. It may function differently in Montgomery
County or other areas, but inthis area we are managing the assets and
(02:00):
resources to respond to people. Well, you mentioned the work crews here.
We have not seen any cruise forthe most part working in the in the
city or or just outside of thecity. Other precincts in Harris County are
Are they doing what you're doing asfar as getting the trucks out there or
not? Well, we are,as I mentioned there are. We've got
(02:21):
one hundred and fifty four zones setup for debris pickup. Jimmy, what
we've been doing for the last fouror five days is clearing the trees from
the right of way just to allowyou to go down the road. So
now they pushed through the side onthe curb in most cases. Now that
debris pickup begins week, people arecalling me saying when is it going to
(02:46):
happen? If you call me,I will let you know what neighborhood it
is. We've got the one hundredand fifty four zones established. We're going
to be working it over the nextcup of three weeks. This is the
third disaster we've dealt with, andless since seven weeks. We've been organizing
the other two. We're organizing thisone. And you're going to see the
trucks out there. They've been there. Maybe you didn't see all of them
(03:09):
in the neighborhood, but we've beencutting trees since two hours after barrel blew
through. Our crews were out thereremoving trees from the roadways commissioner very quickly.
We're almost out of time. Howabout your water? Are your water
systems up and running? Are youstill having to deliver water to people?
Well, we have two hundred andtwo MUDs in the precinc and there is
(03:31):
some of that. We're having abig event on Saturday. Thank you.
The State of Texas provided bag guysand water non Paris wells that'll be at
the Crosby Community Center and out inCrosby. Ninety percent of the people don't
have power. They are in direstraits out there, and I can't get
any information out of Center Point.I heard what the gentleman said earlier.
(03:57):
He does not communicate. They sentme a app that doesn't work. He
sends me a map that's not accurate. I need specific details on when your
crews are going to show up.You go to Mark Herman's office. You've
got the power lines dangling in thein the parking lot. We've not seen
a truck a Center Point response trucksin some parts of Precinct three. We've
(04:21):
got the most people without power inany other than any other area. It's
any corporate area. Here's what I'velearned, and that is even the vice
presidents or a bunch of pr flex. Thank you, sir, Thank you
for your time, folks, thankyou for listening. We'll see a Mounday
