(00:00):
Abortion has been a bit of aloser for a lot of Republicans and a
lot of races ever since the Dobbsdecision essentially overturned Roe versus weight and allowed
the decision to be made by thestates. What kind of a role will
it play in this upcoming election?Jonathan Science, President of Texas Values,
joining us Jonathan, good Morning,Good morning. It seems like Kamala doesn't
(00:20):
have a whole lot of issues onwhich she can run based on her own
record, but she is going tohit the pro choice message very very hard.
What role will it play? Well? Look, I mean you could
describe her position as pro death.I mean that she's been asked about the
abortion issue in protecting nandison human lifein the womb, and it's not clear
(00:41):
that she supports any limitation. Soabortion on demand for Kamala Harris as her
position. And I'm not even surethat if the baby's born as a result
of the failed abortion that she wouldsupport protecting the baby in that situation.
Do we have a state law onthat that says the baby is born a
line as a results of abortion, that you support the baby. Of course,
(01:02):
you know, we protect life throughall stages now in the state of
Texas and when governor have it ranjust a year or two ago against bets.
That's all. Rourke tried to makethis a big issue, but he
lost by double digits. And sothe pro life issue is very strong in
the state of Texas. Maybe alittle bit different in other parts of the
country. But Kamala Harris's views onabortion are so extreme that the majority of
(01:25):
Americans and the majority of voters donot take the same position that she does.
But not only that, she isa record when she was Attorney General
of California of going after pro lifepregnancy centers. These are nonprofit places.
We have three hundred of them inthe state of Texas that help babies,
they help mothers, and so she'sway out of step with the American public.
(01:46):
I have a question for you. When she was Attorney general in California
and the undercover videos of Project Veritasshowing abortion clinics there bragging about selling baby
parts, didn't she prosecute the journeyalmost rather than the abortion clinics. Well,
look at it's very likely because weknow that that she wants to protect
(02:07):
the abortion industry. She's one ofthe few candidates of not the only that
ran for president that has spent timewith planned parenthood. We didn't even really
see Joe Biden talk a lot aboutthis issue. So there's no question that
this is something that she's going tomake a priority. But you know,
look, she's way out of steps. She's very extreme, if not the
(02:27):
most extreme candidate this cycle on theabortion issue, and that's why I think
a lot of people consider her prodeath. But look, in the state
of Texas, this is going tobe difficult for her because there's also the
border issue, where she's very weakon. You know, according to reports,
a lot, if not all TexasDemocrats are endorsing Kamala Harris except for
the ones that have their districts thatare along the border, you know,
(02:52):
and now they're trying to deny thatthey ever called her the borders are I
mean, I think she's also theabortions are, I mean, you know,
And so there's a lot of problemsthat she's going to have instead Texas.
Not only that, but across thecountry. And when you look at
the way that the record that PresidentTrump has on this issue and jd Vance,
I mean, there's a clear difference. They're nowhere close to each other.
(03:15):
And so if you are even that, you know in that percentage that
says that you know, after threemonths after the first trimester, you know,
think the baby has rights or ifthe baby has a heartbeat. She
doesn't even support protecting babies when theyfeel pain in the womb as a result
of the abortion. Kamala Harris doesn't. So I think the abortion issue is
going to be a losing issue forher. I think they're going to try
(03:35):
to run on that. It mayplay well in some parts of the country,
but for the most part, thisis gonna be a tough issue.
And you know, she's gonna havetrouble finding any issue that she can win
on in the state of Texas.Yeah, I think it is going to
be a problem though for pro lifers. Quite frankly, you know, in
the state of Ohio, which isa very very red state now just got
hammered by the constitutional Amendment in Ohiojust this past November, one of the
(03:59):
most vere abortion laws in the countrynow abortion on demand and through the ninth
month. It's unbelievable because pro lifersare are simply getting hammered by pro choicers.
And I agree with you. Bythe way Jonathan signs pro death is
a better way to describe those peoplewho will want no restrictions whatsoever on abortion,
like Kamala Harris. But it isgoing to be a very, very
key issue in this election. Jonathan, thank you for the perspective. We
(04:20):
appreciate it. You bet God bless
