North Freeway at Richie inbound of Stall two eighty eight
McGowan stall. No, that wouldn't maybe something he's kind of
in the canyon. He's in a sticky spot here. Also
east Loop outbound before the east Loop a stall, but
it's a truck and he's over right before. All that

(01:10):
merging stuff happens before the bud plant, So let's look
out for him. And once we get the super sized

You, Jimmy, our top story this hour.

Speaker 7 (01:51):
If you've got something to say, Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:57):
That was Kamala Harris last week, but she's now refusing
to debate Donald Trump. On September fourth, Don Fox. She
is demanding that the one on one showdown take place
September tenth on ABC, her mainstream media partner, Harris is
expected to announce her running mate tomorrow. Spending the weekend
interviewing the top candidates.

Speaker 8 (02:17):
Harris is speaking face to face with Minnesota Governor Tim Walls,
Pennsylvania Governor Joshapiro, and Arizona Senator Mark Kelly. It's unclear
if the other possible candidates, Kentucky Governor Andy Basheer, Illinois
Governor Jab Pritzker, and Transportation Secretary p Budajesh have also
met or are said to meet with Harris. Shapiro and
Kelly have been seen as favorites.

Speaker 6 (02:38):
Kelly created buzz by posting on social media that quote,
I've learned that when your country asks you to serve,
you always answer the call. And Shapiro has walked back
his nineteen ninety three criticism of Palestinian terrorists. His spokesman
sentenced the governor's position as quotes evolved five oh three
on KTRH.

Speaker 9 (03:00):
We're going to evict this radical, incompetent administration from the
White House that're.

Speaker 10 (03:06):
Destroying our country.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
We're going to save our contry.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
We're going to save our contract.

Speaker 6 (03:12):
Was Donald Trump. Rallying for thousands in Atlanta over the weekend.
His next rally won't be until Friday in Bozeman, Montana.
New polland shows that Harris is now leading Trump nationally
by one point. The Trump campaign says the CBS numbers
are being manipulated and it's not just Harris that Trump
is trying to beat in November.

Speaker 11 (03:32):
Simply put, it's the battle of the steel and the
battle against the deep state.

Speaker 12 (03:38):
What is the role of the deep state in American society?

Speaker 13 (03:41):
And how hard will they go to stop President Trump
and his administration from doing things?

Speaker 12 (03:47):
Would they go so far as to steal the election?

Speaker 11 (03:49):
That is Brian Kennedy, chairman of the American Strategy Group.

Speaker 13 (03:54):
You still have to have human beings engaged in these activities.
If President Trump campaigns well, if you'll have a chance.

Speaker 11 (04:02):
One big problem, he says, lots of mail in ballots
in the seven Swing States. Jeff Biggs News Radio seven
forty K tier H.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Thank you, Jeff, here at home.

Speaker 6 (04:13):
Despite losing her seat in twenty twenty two, National Republicans
still consider Myra Flora is a young gun and have
gone all in to help her flip that district in November.

Speaker 14 (04:23):
She lost that race by nearly ten points, so she
overperformed the Republican expectations for the district but still came
up short.

Speaker 6 (04:34):
SMUs Cal Jillson says the surge of national GOP money
might give Flores a better chance against the incumbent Vicente
Gonzales fi Vo four on KGRH.

Speaker 15 (04:44):
This storm will not have wins that reach the level
of Hurricane Idallia, but it is going to produce way
more water throughout the northern part of the state of Florida.

Speaker 6 (04:55):
Florida Governor Ron Desantas's Debbie is now a hurricane expected
to make and fall moments from now in the Big
Bend region of Florida and then stall out near Georgia,
dumping what could be multiple feet of rain on parts
of that state. More than one hundred and twenty thousand
dollars already without power this morning. Despite climate temperatures rising
by less than two degrees over the last forty years,

(05:18):
the mainstream media continues to twist the data in order
to push their climate crisis narrative.

Speaker 16 (05:24):
They make it appear as though this is unprecedented and
it's happening everywhere, that everything's a records and it's nothing
more than lowbrow casino gambling tactic.

Speaker 6 (05:34):
Mark Morano with the Climate Depo Hotel in ktrh that
this constant fear mongering has become white noise and people
are tuning it out. Five h six, it's shaping up
to be a bad day on Wall Street. Dow futures
have dropped more than six hundred and thirty points after
the Nasdaq fell into a correction. The Japanese market is
having its worst day since nineteen eighty seven. Stocks there

(05:56):
are now in a bear market. Much more on this
at five, Oil futures are down by more than one
percent to just about seventy three dollars a barrel. Meantime,
crude oil pipelines connecting Texas oil fields to a crucial
export hub state across the state are almost out of
space boxes. Phil Flynn blames the climate change crowd.

Speaker 17 (06:17):
This is part of the concerns about the energy transition
and the lack of the investment and fossil fuels, and
impart of that. It's been driven of course by this
energy transition movement right the Green New Deal.

Speaker 6 (06:30):
Pipelines that transport barrels produced in the Permian Basin to
the port of Corpus Christi are more than ninety percent
full now. Meantime, the economy added just one hundred and
fourteen thousand jobs last month, coming in well below predictions
of one hundred and seventy five thousand. The unemployment rate
now four point three percent, and there's new research showing
better days though are ahead for hiring. Despite these bad

(06:53):
jobs numbers.

Speaker 18 (06:54):
Business consulting firm Robert Half and their State of the
US Hiring Survey is showing that fifty two percent of
US companies plan to add new permanent roles in the
final months of twenty twenty four.

Speaker 19 (07:04):
Forty nine percent of Houston hiring managers we spoke with
plan to add new permanent roles in the second half
of the year.

Speaker 18 (07:11):
As you heard from Brandy Clark, senior regional director with
Robert Haff, Houston's numbers are looking good too.

Speaker 19 (07:16):
We still see a lot of hiring happening out there.
There's a lot of optimism out there. It's an exciting thing.
There's consistent demand for top talent.

Speaker 18 (07:24):
The city continues to do well in manufacturing and the
public sector. Jared Lewis News Radio seven forty KTR eight

Speaker 2 (08:00):
I've a waited this our time here in Houston's pointing.
Here is a right.

Speaker 5 (08:03):
Stock market is off to a bad start today. If
you have a lot of money invested in stocks, you know,
just kind of look at it through one eye and
you know, glands at it quickly, and if you get scared,
turn away a little bit. I'm at the point in
life where I don't have a lot of money in
stock market. At this point in life, I never really
had a bunch of money in the stock market. This
this is when things are going great, it's a great investment, right,

(08:25):
But when things are going kind of crazy, it can
be it can be scary Dow future is down more
than seven hundred points, doesn't mean that it's going to
be a loser day. But they just had a bad
day in Japan on their on their stock market, so
that might be one of those little stock market viruses
that are spreading. In the meantime, we have economists at
Goldwyn SACS who raised the likelihood of a US economic

(08:49):
recession from fifteen to twenty five percent. That's still not
a huge number, fifteen to twenty five percent. They also
are saying though they continue to view the risk of
her session has limited, which means it wouldn't be a
deep recession, wouldn't be a nasty recession. A recession, technically speaking,
is just when you have several months in a row,

(09:11):
two months in a row to be technically correct, where
the economy doesn't grow. And we're certainly seeing some signs
to slow down. So we got that job report, only
one hundred and fourteen thousand jobs added last week when
that report came out, and the previous month's jobs report
for the month of June had also revised lower, So

(09:32):
there are some signs that employment is slowing down. We
certainly know the housing market has slowed down. There are
some signs that we are kind of retracting on what
we're spending. But again, nothing to panic about, at least
not at this point.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
Five to ten.

Speaker 5 (09:46):
Time for traffic and weather together. See if there's any
panic on the roadways. Here's a guy, Mike.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
Well, a little freak out right by the butt I
just did.

Speaker 10 (09:53):
I just cammel up.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
Outbound East Freeway is completely shut down after gail Horn
or before gilh Horne. It's overnight roadwork from the weekend.
Does that make sense? This is all lanes blocked outbound,
not inbound inbound. We look to be good so far,
although it's kind of interesting with all the flashy lights,
and I do see you slowing down as you're hitting
about Mercury on the inbound side. They should have this shortly.

(10:16):
If they don't have it by the twenty break, I'm
going to do some real dig in here. Let's go
to the Southwest Freeway. That roadwork at University. It was
from University southbound to the Brass River Bridge. I see
barrels moved over to the side. I'm seeing more barrels
at the Breses River Bridge. Looks like that's over Okay,
that's that's done for the weekend. Now this upcoming weekend

(10:38):
that could get ugly. And also let's check North Freeway
I forty five. We had some roadwork up around Richie
Airtechs and you had some alternating lanes both ways. Looks
like we're getting fine, getting by, just fine. I'll be
hearing from Roger from Magnolia shortly. I'd love to hear
from whoever you are out there. Seven to one three
two one two tips is the tip line Skymike on

(11:00):
Generator Supercenter dot com traffic center. That's fun.

Speaker 5 (11:11):
Yep, Debbie's coming in for a lining five eleven. Let's
check in with the Weather Channel. Hello, good morning, Good morning,
Hurricane Princess. How are we today?

Speaker 6 (11:21):
Not feeling very princess?

Speaker 20 (11:23):
A no, no, Well, Debbie's just about completely on shore.
It's moving into the Florida Panhandle around the Big Bend
area with eighty mile an hour sustained winds. The winds
are going to be a bit of the factor. It's
more so the raid that is going to be a
massive headache. And not just in Florida, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina,

(11:45):
maybe even North Carolina because it's going to be hanging
around the southeast through Friday. It looks like right now
it is a slow mover, and we all know what
slow moving hurricanes can do, so flooding is the main
concern there now for.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Us, not a drop of rain.

Speaker 20 (12:02):
It is nothing but sunny and hot all week long.
Today the temperatures load to upper nineties, Tomorrow mid to
upper nineties, and then Wednesday, Thursday and Friday upper nineties
to just over one hundred.

Speaker 5 (12:15):
All right, Terry, thank you right now eighty one at
your official severe weather station, News Radio seven forty k TRH.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
It's Houston's morning News, brought to you by New South
Windows Solutions. Now back to Jimmy and Scherah with the
info you need to take on the day.

Speaker 5 (12:30):
Share is off today and tomorrow. I'm off on Thursday
and Friday. We just taking a few days here and there. Joy,
the last days of the summer. Kids are going back
to school in another week or so, right, I know
the employees are going.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
Back to work.

Speaker 5 (12:41):
So for all the school employees out there getting back
to the grind, well, I hope you had a chance
to rest this summer. Speaking of parents, you're ready to
get the kids back in school. Prince Harry and Megan
Markle launching a new initiative aimed at protecting children online
and offering support to their parents. It's called the Parents' Network,

(13:02):
offering resources to parents whose children have been lost or
harmed lost or harmed by social media. It offers parents
guidelines to platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and snapchat, and will
lobby social media companies to make their products safer for children.
How about we do this Allow me to give some
advice on young children on TikTok, No Instagram, no in Snapchat, No,

(13:30):
real simple, don't let them use that stuff when they're
really young. Five funny time for trafficking weather. Together, we're
checking out the drive once again. Sky Miike's here.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
It's yours freeway and this is becoming this is getting
a little old. Now we're supposed to have this roadwork
cleared outbound at six ' ten, right before the boat Planet,
it's all lanes now. It trickles back to a couple
of lanes open right at Mercury. As we look this
way inbound, I'm seeing some rubbernecking. Some of the folks
coming inbound are going, what's going on here? And that's

(13:58):
why we're hitting those breaks. So we're looking outbound. Looks
like about a ten minute drag, So take the loop
six ten two twenty five would be a better route
around it. If you can work your way on to
ninety that's not going to help either. Let's say if
we can get your round to two eighty eight or
the golf Freeway skymike on the Generators Supercenter dot Com
traffic center from our KTRH top tax defenders twenty four

(14:20):

sunny and hot tomorrow with the high temperature of ninety eight,
then in Wednesday, sunny and hot again with the high
temperature right about one hundred.

Speaker 5 (14:30):
Chevron's moving to Houston. That story is coming up in
just a moment. Temperature right now eighty one at your
official severe weather station, News Radio seven forty KTRH. Time

Monday in for Shrift today, here's Cliff, Thank you.

Speaker 6 (14:43):
Jimmy dal Futures are down by more than six hundred
points after global markets crash overnight. Three girls aged eight,
eleven and fifteen are dead after a condo fire in

Speaker 1 (15:18):
News Radio seven k t RH.

Speaker 5 (15:21):
Chevron case you haven't heard, Chevron Corporation, which is a
California based company at least it used to be, is
moving to Houston. They're going to join X and SpaceX
and other companies have decided they've had enough of California
and they're moving to Texas. And they're specifically going to
come here to Houston, which they considered to be the

(15:41):
energy capital of the world, and they would be correct
about that. By the way, Mayor John Whitmeyer coming up
in two hours. We're going to talk to him about
the new police chief he's hired, but I also want
to talk to him about this about Chevron coming to
Houston and what if any sort of accommodations had to
be made for that. I saw the CEO, David Worth

(16:02):
is his name, doing an interview. He was trying very
hard to be diplomatic about why they're leaving California and
coming to Texas. But I think you can kind of
read between the lines.

Speaker 21 (16:13):
Well, it's really to be closer to the core. Uh,
you know, epicenter of our industry. Houston is the energy
capital of the world.

Speaker 22 (16:22):
Uh.

Speaker 21 (16:22):
We have key partners that are there, Suppliers, vendors, the
universities that we do a lot of research with and
recruiting from are there. And so it's a natural place
for companies in our industry to have their their home
office and headquarters. And in fact, over the last many years,
we've seen our Houston based employee population go up in

(16:46):
our California based employee population come down. And uh, and
this is really concluding a process that has been underway.
It's it's uh, you know, we know how to work
around the world in kind of a virtual environment, but
there's no substitute for being face to face with people
in terms of collaboration, innovation, mentoring and development, external relations

(17:08):
and engagement. And Houston really is the place for our
company to be for all of those reasons. We do
have a big business footprint in Texas, which is now
larger than our business footprint in California.

Speaker 10 (17:19):
For many, many years, that was not the case.

Speaker 21 (17:21):
California was our home, it was our birthplace, and it
was where our largest business footprint is. And so that's
certainly a change that has occurred. But the primary motivator
here is to get our people together to increase engagement
in collaboration.

Speaker 23 (17:34):
So pro Texas versus anti California.

Speaker 21 (17:39):
I wouldn't necessarily put it that way. I would look,
we've had some policy differences with California, and certainly California
and Texas approach energy very differently, and so we speak
up on that. We advocate for policies that keep prices low,
that keeps supply reliable, that encourage an investment. California's advanced

(18:01):
policies that do the opposite, and so we've certainly expressed
our views. So we don't think that's good for the
California economy. But this isn't a move about politics. It's
a move about what's good for our company to compete
and perform.

Speaker 5 (18:14):
Yeah, it is. It's a move about politics. California has
made it very difficult for any energy producer to want
to call it home. Why would you want to have
your headquarters in California when state regulations are trying to
shut you down. I don't know why you'd be afraid
to admit that. Why would you be afraid to admit that?
I would shout that from the highest mountaintop. Yet, we're

(18:36):
leaving California because Devin Newsom is wrecking the state and
so were the left leaning politics. We produce energy. We
need to be somewhere where they appreciate us producing energy
because that's what they're doing. They're coming somewhere where they'll
actually be appreciated, where it will actually make sense. Like

(18:58):
I said, Mayor John Whittmeyer. Coming up, we'll get his
reaction to Chevron moving to Houston. We'll talk to him
just a little undred two hours from now, about seven
twenty two. This morning, right now, five twenty six ere
on News Radio seven forty KTRH, it is time to
take a look at your money, Cordey Donaho, Good morning.

Speaker 24 (19:16):
Good morning, Jimmy. What we have left of our money?
Who are setting up for another rough day? Head on
Wall Street? Losses cascading across tech shares. Warren Buffet's Birkshire
Happyway revealed over the weekend that it slashed its stake
in Apple by almost fifty percent. Nasdaq futures are plunging
four point three percent this morning. Dow futures down seven
hundred and fifty points at this early hour. On Friday,

(19:38):
a weeker than expected jobs report triggered the selloff. Employers
added one hundred and fourteen thousand to the payrolls in July.
Traders are starting to think the Federal Reserve has been
too slow to cut interest rates. The Doubt tumbled six
hundred eleven points. CrowdStrike says that it offered assistance to
Delta to help the carrier recover from last month's system outage,
but the airline didn't respond. That tech breakdown lead to

(20:00):
thousands of canceled flights, and more Americans are carrying credit
card balances for longer periods of time. According to a
bank rate survey, sixty percent of cardholders have been sitting
on debt for at least a year.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
That's up from.

Speaker 24 (20:12):
Fifty percent back in twenty twenty one. I'm courting Don
Hope Bloomberg Business on news Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Committee. Here's Skymye like the fat blue guy with All right,
let's go to the East Freeway Mercury. We've reopened all
these lanes down w A double check here at John
Ralston and Gail Horn. I still see kind of a
smack up on the outbound side here. Looks like they're
still working on some of that right over by Mercury

(21:23):
on the outbound side or just round the bud Plant.
This is outbound, not inbound inbound. You're just fine. However,
this is also messing up that ramp. If you're a
big rig coming down from Wallaceville, let's skip down to
Let's skip around that. Maybe take Old ninety instead. Skymike

Speaker 6 (22:07):
Here's Cliff Saunders, Thank you, Jimmy five thirty one on
KTRHR top story this hour, Your money Today is shaping
up to be a bloodbath on Wall Street now. Jones
futures are down by six hundred ninety four points right
now as foreign markets across the world crash.

Speaker 26 (22:23):
Japan's Benchmarin Kay index dropping twelve percent in the worst
single day decline since nineteen eighty seven. It's the third
Street session of big declines as fears of a deeper
economic slow down unnerved traders already concerned about rising tensions
in the Middle East.

Speaker 6 (22:39):
That is Fox is actually Stromyer. Speaking of those tensions.

Speaker 18 (22:42):
She said that Israel has a right to defend itself,
but and then she went on to blame Israel for
civilian casualties and Guaza.

Speaker 6 (22:51):
Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton on CBS as an attack on
Israel from Iran retaliation for killing Hamas leaders there could
come as early as today. Secretary of State Anthony Blincoln
telling G seven leaders the US is ensure exactly how
or what though the retaliation would look like. The Biden administration,

(23:12):
after all of the backlash, pulls the plea bargain it
made with three nine to eleven prisoners, including the mastermind
colleague Sheik Muhammad, that decision made by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

Speaker 27 (23:22):
Either Secretary of Austin and the White House had no
idea this was going on and was ignorant or they
knew that this whole time and now are trying to
pretend that they were ignorant.

Speaker 1 (23:34):
Which is it?

Speaker 2 (23:34):
You can't have it both ways.

Speaker 6 (23:36):
Florida Congressman Michael wants the original deal did not include
the death penalty. A report from the Commission on the
National Defense Strategy says the US military is not prepared
if there's a major global conflict.

Speaker 28 (23:49):
It's not because of our military state of who we
are and what we do. It all comes down very
simply to presidential leadership, the guidance after president provides as
commander chief leader of the National Security Team.

Speaker 6 (24:01):
Retired Lieutenant General Keith Kellock says there have been no
messages of strength presented by Joe Biden to our adversaries
in his three plus years in office. Five point thirty
four on Katurh Kamala, Harris now won't debate Donald Trump
on September fourth on Fox Trump announced the debate on Friday,
which would take place in Pennsylvania. Harris wants Trump to

(24:23):
do the debate in September on ABC. You know the
date that was supposed to be with Joe Biden. Harris
in the left have been attacking JD. Vance ever since
Trump chose him as his running mate, calling him weird. Well,
Vance is hitting back.

Speaker 29 (24:39):
They can call me whatever they want to. The middle
school taunts. Don't bother me. What bothers me and what
offends me is what Kamala Harris has done to this
country over three and a half years.

Speaker 6 (24:49):
You hear from Donald Trump, who rallied in Georgia this weekend,
coming up at six o'clock. Now they call vance weird,
but say nothing about Robert F. Kennedy Junior, who this
weekend admitted to dumping a dead bear cub in New
York Central Park and staging it to look like it
had been hit by a cyclist.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
Coming up on five thirty five.

Speaker 6 (25:10):
We haven't heard much about the bid rigging case against
the former staffers of Harris County Judge Lena Hidogo lately.
Holly Hanson with The Texan says the next move is

Speaker 22 (27:18):
Make sure you're comparing apples to apples when it comes

doesn't mean you have better insurance. A lot of the
insurance companies are actually reducing coverage to give you discounts,
but then you don't realize that you don't have coverage
until you need it.

Speaker 6 (27:32):
ETWIA says it needs the rate hive to cover increased

All right, fair enough, fair enough. Oh, by the way,
what it was originally going to talk about. Speaking of passports,
the International LEPIC Committee is officially on record now is
saying that you are whatever you are on your passport.
Or if the passport list you as male, you're a male.
If they list you as a female, you're female. This

(30:06):
is why we have two transgender male boxing participants or
beating up women from other countries is because it says
on their passport that they are women. Now correct me
by wrong. Didn't the International Olympic Committee weren't they among
the first to do doping testing?

Speaker 2 (30:25):
Where they did?

Speaker 5 (30:26):
They did testing for women competing in the Olympics to
make sure that they weren't on some sort of drugs
or whatever, so they'd have an unfair advantage. So isn't
don't they drug Don't they test anymore? Don't they do
any hormonal test anymore, any sort of chromosome test anymore?

in case you're wondering, if they cleared the North Freeway
Richie roadwork that was a big nasty thing this weekend.
That's out of the Way also Southwest Free Way. I'm
trying to understand exactly what this lane shift was outbound

at the Brass River, so they closed it for the weekend.

Speaker 10 (31:18):
Man.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
I talked to Christina Hadley from text dot a couple

My shots show me everything looking fine. I'm seeing traffic
moving through. But from what I understand, they've taken a
couple of lanes and actually moved them over. They've moved
the textalk walls of death and everything. Not seeing a
problem here. From what I see from cameras, I don't see.

(31:40):
It's tough to see exactly what the difference is. I'll
get some air support. I'm just gonna have to go
drive here cliffs hunders. That's what I do when I
don't understand some roadwork. So if you want to tell

Speaker 20 (32:34):
Yes, it is very similar to Harvey, at least that's
the way the forecast is showing, because it's beginning to
make its way on shore, but between now and Friday,
it may only make its way up to North Carolina.
And so there is this prolonged period of very heavy rain,
especially in southeastern Georgia and coastal South Carolina. That looks

you mentioned, we know what ongoing, persistent day after day

Fair Enough, and I guess the Democrats see all of
that as weird.

Speaker 23 (37:49):
What do you say about this new strategy to call
you weird from the Democrats.

Speaker 29 (37:56):
I think that it's a lot of projection, frankly, Maria,
from people who want to give transgender hormones to nine

Play in women's sports.

Speaker 29 (38:07):

and I love my life. And I'm doing this because
I want to be a good public servant who fixes
the problems of the Democrats. They can call me whatever
they want to. The middle school taunts don't bother me.
What bothers me and what offends me is what Kamala
Harris has done to this country over three and a

(38:27):
casts a deciding vote on things that caused skyrocketing inflation
and affordability crisis.

Speaker 10 (38:32):
I mean, I was in Georgia yesterday.

Speaker 29 (38:34):
They have a terrible housing affordability problem in the state
of Georgia, Maria, because Kamala Harris shot interest rates through

aliens compete with Americans for scarce homes. So I don't
care what they call me. I just wish they would
stop screwing up the country. And because I don't think
they're able to do that themselves, President Trump and I
are going to beat them in November.

Speaker 5 (38:54):
That is a Jdbanz Yesterday and Sunday Morning Futures on

them covering up for themselves when when they say things

(39:15):
like danger to democracy, the danger to democracy is them.
They they just as he said, They just project what
they have become over to the other side. Yes, they're
pretty weird. The Progressives are getting pretty dog gone weird.

(47:53):
most retirement people will tell you, retirement experts will tell
you if you're when you retire, you got to stop

And of course, as prices continue to increase, I think
that's becoming more and more true. And then I saw

Speaker 2 (50:02):
Check out. Let's check out the drive again. Here's sky Mike.
If you go to the one on Washington Avenue, just
give Debbie there a big old tip. I asked her,
why are you still working? Why aren't your kids taking
care of you? And she's like, I want to work,
So all right, you go tip your waitresses. We are
looking at it in east coming in from Katie so
far Pinoak Road into the President's Heads.

Speaker 10 (50:21):
We rock.

Speaker 2 (50:22):
We're looking at an easy twenty eight minute stroll in.
Why are they showing the toll bridge suckage southbound there?
It is an extra ten minutes. We know that already.
I wish we would go look at Generation Parkway on
the east. Sam Tammy from Channel thirteen both ways west
Lake US Toll Parkway. What they've done is they've blocked
two left lines, but the right shoulder on both sides

(50:46):
is identifying as a right lane, so we were using
them as two right lines this way. Also north sam
westbound at Alden Westfield. That one's starting to become a pain.
And then eastbound and Imperial Valley that's a left line
knocked out. Also south for US Freeway, they've done some
kind of lane shift at the Brazis River Bridge. So
far it's not causing us any problem. And coming up

(51:08):
two eighty eight, we rock now Stephen at Fostin's Happy
this morning. Highway six is wide open into downtown. Oh
quickly Hooper, Mike, dude, Hey my.

Speaker 39 (51:17):

Speaker 22 (51:19):
So starting off with C is a total show.

are going to have and thank goodness for that.

Speaker 20 (51:44):
Yeah, thank goodness for that. Hurricane Debbie making landfall this
morning near Steinhatchie that's.

Speaker 6 (51:50):
On the west coast of Florida in the Big Bend area.

Speaker 20 (51:54):
Eighty mile an hour wins with the hurricane, but it'll
slowly weaken into a tropical storm. But the problem is
that tropical storm is going nowhere between now and the
end of the week. I think by Saturday it may
make its way at least what's left of it up
into North Carolina, so Florida, Georgia, South Carolina in particular,

(52:14):
but even into North Carolina widespread heavy rain, several days
of rain, so the flooding is a concern. Worst of
it looks to be along the coast of Georgia and
South Carolina, where some places may wind up with over
twenty inches of rain.

Speaker 6 (52:30):
We don't have any rain.

Speaker 20 (52:31):
Georgia and South Carolina have got it all sunny, hot
and dry this week. Low to upper nineties today, mid
to upper nineties tomorrow, and then the rest of the
week upper nineties to low one hundreds.

So American Thinker did a very interesting piece here about
two very critical battles lie ahead for Trump. Number one
would be the battle of the steal Democrats trying to
steal the election in battleground states. The other one would
be after the election, assuming he got elected, and that'd
be the battle of the deep state, just fining the
bureaucracy there's so thoroughly entrenched in Washington, DC politics. We'll

(53:18):
talk to r NC director Tommy Piggott about that coming
up next. First, though, traffic and weather together as we
check out the drive once again to Skymike, let.

Speaker 5 (54:50):
All right, so stealing the election? That is worry number one,
at least according to American thinker join us talk about
it as Director of the RNC, Tommy Pickett, I had
him as a guest, by the way, Friday in my
afternoon show on KP. Are seeing these back here this morning?
I'm kat all right, thanks for coming back, Tommy. Let's
talk about the worry of this deal. I guess the
concentration has to be where battleground states, right. Obviously, Well,

(55:12):
we have.

Speaker 34 (55:12):
A nationwide effort, but by nationwide they mean it's state specific.
So each every in every single state there's slight different rules.
So making sure that we have the largest lever ever
election integrity program nationwide is a huge priority for the RNC.
We are building a one hundred thousand person strong election
integrity program with the Trump campaign to make sure we
have eyes on every single part of this process. On

(55:35):
top of that, we're engaged in litigation beforehand. We're close
to one hundred legal actions taking this cycle alone, So
we have that legal action upfront to make sure that
we have rules on the field that we want to see.
But then once those rules are set, making sure we
have that one hundred thousand person strong election integrity program
being able to respond to issues in real time, and
I have eyes on every single part of this process.

Speaker 5 (55:56):
You know the things that Democrats do so well, early voting,
ballot harvesting. What are Republicans doing about those two issues?

Speaker 2 (56:04):
Look, when the rules are.

Speaker 34 (56:04):
Set on the field, we can't be fighting with one
hand time behind our back. Where legal the RNC and
Trump campaign are going to be ballot harvesting. We have
to make sure that Republicans are voting in every single
legal withth they possibly can, and we get every single
Republican out to the polls that we can. The important
thing about early voting when it's in your state, making
sure that you do that is that it frees up

(56:25):
resources for the campaign and the RNC. The's target voters who.

Speaker 16 (56:28):
Haven't voted yet.

Speaker 34 (56:30):
If you wait till the election date to vote, we
may spend resources trying to reach out to make sure
you do vote. If you vote early, we can use
those resources in different ways. But that's also combined, of course,
with our election integrity operation and make sure people can
cast their vote with confidence, making sure we have eyes
in every single part of this process. So those two
things are very much in tandem.

Speaker 2 (56:49):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (56:49):
The other thing is counting. In fact, counting the ballots
may be the most important thing. What sort of changes,
if any, are Republicans trying to make is in how
the ballots are being counted and who is over seeing
the counting of those balance.

Speaker 34 (57:03):
Well, that's part of that one hundred thousand person strong
election integrity program, having poll ob servers, having poll watchers,
having a rapid response team, legal team that can respond
to issues in real time. We've seen the RNC and
Trump campaign do this already when we've heard of different
issues across the country regarding different scenarios, but making sure
we have people on the ground that responding in real

(57:24):
time to make sure that we can address those issues.
But frankly, that's also part of the reason why he
need to vote early, because let's say something happens in
Arizona like happened in the twenty twenty two election, where
voting machines were down. People having voted early to then
go back and vote and make sure the votes counted
if they weren't able to vote that day, or we're
also able to respond to those issues and you have
more time. Of course, that we're going to be making

(57:44):
sure we have pull observers and poll watchers on every
single part of this process to make sure that we
have election transparency, which is one of the key tenets
of the Americans want to see.

Speaker 5 (57:53):
And finally, I guess if this is done easy answer
either obviously or the question wouldn'ted be asked. But the
other big battle is just the battle of the deep state,
the entrench bureaucracy. You know, President Trump was battling with
that entrenched bureaucracy for his first four years. Can he
do anything about it in his next four years if
he's elected.

Speaker 34 (58:13):
Well, I think two.

Speaker 40 (58:13):
Things on this.

Speaker 34 (58:14):
First is it's really important that we also send reinforcements
to the legislative branch to help him do that, to
make sure that he's able to pass legislation that is
able to have those reinforcements there or the Republican House
and Republican Senate. That's incredibly important. I think the second
issue is that President Trump comes in with those twenty
core proms is to America he is set to deliver on,
and he comes in also only behold into one group

(58:34):
of people, and that's the working men and women of
this country. Unlike any other politician we've seen in our lifetimece.
He is only beholden to making America great again. So
he has the plan, he has the executive actions he's
going to take, and we need to send him reinforcement
in the House of Senate to give him the legislative
branch as well to make sure that he can deliver
on those twenty promises he has.

Speaker 5 (58:53):
All right, Tommy, good to hear from me again. Thanks
appreciate it. That is RNC Director Tommy Peggott. It is

The former House Speaker says the country should honor President
Biden by adding him to Mount Rushmore. The eighty one
year old commander in Chief is, to quote Nasy, such
a consequential president of the United States, a Mount Rushmore

(01:08:09):
kind of president, she claimed on CBS Sunday Morning Show yesterday.
She said, you have Teddy Roosevelt up there, and he's wonderful.

Speaker 2 (01:08:21):
She would like him.

Speaker 12 (01:08:21):
He was a progressive.

Speaker 5 (01:08:22):
I don't say take him down, but you can add Biden.
I would like to highly suggest that we don't mess
with Mount Rushmore unless you want to actually complete Mount
Rushmore the way Mount Rushmore was intended. Have you ever
seen the original drawings of Mount Rushmore and what it

(01:08:44):
was supposed to look like. In addition to taking way
longer than they ever thought it would, it also costs,
is usual, cost a whole lot more than anybody thought
it would, and they ran out of money. What you
have there now are basically the president, the four US
presidents from the chest up, and they were supposed to

(01:09:06):
be full bondied, supposed to continue down the mountain into
a sort of a full body, which would have been
I mean, the original drawings are very impressive. I mean,
it'd be wonderful if they wanted to go back and
complete the artist's vision of what Mount Rushmore was supposed
to look like. But I don't think we need to
add any more presidents to it at all. If you

(01:09:28):
want to finish the presidents who are there, that's fine,
and certainly we don't need to add Joe Biden, Thank
you very much. Six forty Time for traffic and whether

Now News Radio seven JTRH.

Speaker 5 (01:14:33):
By the way, here in Houston's Point News, Ronald Roade Junior,
the acting director of the Secret Service, had a price
conference on Friday where he admitted that they had no
radio communication with local police and they could have had
a drone but they turned it down. So we get
those confessions with some reaction at the other end from

(01:14:53):
Jesse Waters on the five.

Speaker 42 (01:14:54):
Neither the Secret Service counter sniper teams nor members of
the former president's security detail had any knowledge that there
was a man on the roof of the ADR building
with a firearm.

Speaker 30 (01:15:04):
So, just to clarify us, Secret Service counter snipers did
not have radio communications, not.

Speaker 42 (01:15:10):
With the local not with the local cs folks that
were providing a support.

Speaker 1 (01:15:15):
Anyone been suspended with or without pay, Has anyone been fired, And.

Speaker 42 (01:15:19):
If in fact there were policy violations and they are substantiated,
those employees will be held accountable. We did not have
a drone on site. We did not put a drone up.
Based on the information I have right now, I am
aware that there was a request from a local agency
to offer to fly a drone on that day, and

(01:15:42):
that is also part of the mission assurance review that
I've asked to get some better insight in. One of
the other changes that I implemented when I when I
became the acting director is we are now going to
leverage the use of.

Speaker 10 (01:15:55):
Unmanned aial systems at sites.

Speaker 43 (01:15:56):
Now, why if someone's offering you a free drone do
you turn it down?

Speaker 2 (01:16:01):
That doesn't make any sense.

Speaker 43 (01:16:03):
Hey, here's a drone so you can spy on the
people trying to kill the president.

Speaker 10 (01:16:07):
No, no thanks, it doesn't make any sense.

Speaker 43 (01:16:11):
He also said, Jessica, this was the first time they've
ever had counter snipers for Donald Trump this election. They
didn't use him in the Bronx when he had high
rises surrounding him in the Bronx, they'd have any counter
snipers in the Bronx. In Wildwood, New Jersey, with one
hundred thousand people by the coastline and the boardwalk, didn't

(01:16:34):
have any counter snipers. This was the first time Donald
Trump this election cycle ever had counter snipers. And they're
saying that it was only because there was an Iranian
thread against his life. There has been an Iranian thread
against his life since he.

Speaker 1 (01:16:48):
Waxed sole MONI.

Speaker 10 (01:16:50):
So I don't even believe that. I believe that they
denied this and all of.

Speaker 43 (01:16:54):
These whistleblowers are saying these were denied requests. There was
another whistleblower that said that there was a request for
Secret Service threat assessment agents and that guy row the
bser as judge who politely describes him personally cut these
Secret Service agents that were supposed to do the threat assessment.
That is absolutely crazy. And how do you not know

(01:17:15):
there's a guy on the roof and you're using text messaging.
It's a three billion dollar agency and you guy on
a roof with gunk.

Speaker 10 (01:17:25):
What that's not how you communicate?

Speaker 5 (01:17:27):
No, not that the Secret Service shouldn't be how you communicate.

You've one to me, but it is running me. She
seemed to have a lot to say about me. Yeah,
that was Kamala Harris last week.

Speaker 6 (01:20:48):
But it is she who is refusing to debate Trump
on September fourth on Fox, demanding that the one on
one showdown take place on ABC on September tenth. Harris
expected to announce her running mate by tomorrow. With controversy
now surrounding one of the contenders, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.

Speaker 44 (01:21:07):
The New York Times reports he remains close with former
President Obama. But Shapiro is getting some blowback after some
comments he made back in the nineteen nineties resurface. There
was an op ed in College and he wrote that
the Palestinians do not have the capabilities to establish their
own homeland and make it successful, even with the aid
of Israel and the US. They are too battleminded to
be able to establish a peaceful homeland of their own.

Speaker 6 (01:21:29):
That is Fox's Mark Meredith. Shapiro has walked that criticism back.
His spokesman says his position on this has quote evolved
seven oh three on k TRH, It's shaping up to
be a really bad day on Wall Street. Down futures

was predicted by Ronald Trump on Saturday.

Speaker 9 (01:22:02):
If Harris wins this election, you will quickly have a
Comma economic crash.

Speaker 2 (01:22:07):
You can have a crash.

Speaker 1 (01:22:08):
You could also have a crash like.

Speaker 9 (01:22:10):
In nineteen twenty nine, more specifically because that's where we
had a.

Speaker 6 (01:22:13):
Trump rallying in Atlanta. His next rally is on Friday
in Bozeman, Montana. In the meantime, new CBS polling shows
Harris leading Trump nationally by one point. The Trump campaign
says the numbers are being manipulated and it's not just
Harris that Trump is trying to beat in November.

Speaker 11 (01:22:31):
Simply put, it's the battle of the steel and the
battle against the deep state.

Speaker 12 (01:22:36):
What is the role of the deep state in American society?

Speaker 13 (01:22:39):
And how far will they go to stop President Trump
and his administration from doing things?

Speaker 12 (01:22:45):
Would they go so far as to steal the election?

Speaker 11 (01:22:48):
That is Brian Kennedy, chairman of the American Strategy Group.

Speaker 12 (01:22:53):
You still have to have human beings engaged in these activities.

reporting more than one hundred and twenty are already without

the data in order to push their climate crisis narrative.

Speaker 16 (01:24:12):

part of that it's been driven, of course by this

Speaker 6 (01:24:59):
Deal pipelines are more than ninety percent full, and it
could get worse. Economy added just one hundred and fourteen
thousand jobs in July. We told you that and what
the impact of that has been on the markets. This morning,
the unemployment rate was up to four point three percent.
But there is new research suggesting there are better days
ahead for hiring despite the bad jobs numbers.

Speaker 18 (01:25:22):
Business consulting firm Robert Half and their State of the

US companies plan to add new permanent roles in the

Quarters in taking it from California here to Houston. It's
a little bit east, not east coast, was certainly far
east of California. And all those regulations and all the
crime and all the other things that they're going to
lead behind in California. Not that things are perfect here,
but at least we understand our role Houston, Texas as

(01:26:56):
energy capital of the world. Here's Kevin O. Larry of
fame on Chevron leaving for Houston.

Speaker 36 (01:27:04):
It's the policy that's the problem.

Speaker 29 (01:27:07):
You know.

Speaker 37 (01:27:07):
I always say policy matters. I don't make money on politics.
I make money on policy. What you're observing here, which
should be very concerning if you're a resident of California.

Speaker 36 (01:27:16):
These are multi sectoral moves. It's not just tech, it's
not just energy.

Speaker 37 (01:27:22):
It's also consumer, fast food, almost every single sector. It's
one of the biggest economies on Earth. The companies are
leaving because the policy no longer makes it possible for
them to make money. So thousands, hundreds of thousands of
jobs being lost. Imagine energy. You can't have an economy
without energy. And this energy company, this legendary energy company,

(01:27:45):
has been there over one hundred years and it's leaving.

Speaker 36 (01:27:48):
That's got to wake some people up.

Speaker 37 (01:27:50):
And as an investor, and you know, I'm just pointing
out the obvious. When you have weak management that makes
bad policy in a business, I fire those people and
hire new managers. I've been doing that my whole life.
Gavin Newsom, and I've said this countless times. I like him,
a nice guy. Horrible manager, horrible manager. Just look at

(01:28:13):
the numbers, just look at what's happening. He's his mandate
should be terminated and he should be replaced. And think
about San Francisco. My son lives there. It's a war zone.
Every weekend he calls me up.

Speaker 36 (01:28:24):
This is smashed, My.

Speaker 37 (01:28:25):
House is broken into I mean, what happened to California?

Speaker 36 (01:28:29):
Isn't everybody gonna wake up and say we got to
make some changes here? I would, and I would never
invest in that state. Never. I would never put a
diamond there.

Speaker 5 (01:28:37):
I think it's too late for California. I think California
is gone. California is never going to be what it was.
Too late for them, but it's not too late for us.

a scooch. We've got one on the Hardy Toll Road
right off the ramps from Grand Parkway. Reported stall right
around Riley Fuzzle, which is fun to say, but it's

(01:29:10):
tough to get by in. Both ramps are awful now
coming over from the San Jacino River, I make that
Spring Creek if you're going from the Porter side, and
then if you're coming from the Woodland side, you're about
to hit the brakes right after that merge. But once
you get past that point, you're good to go. Downtown
North Sam the roadwork al Dean Westfield. That's crazy. Two
left lanes westbound and then eastbound. Some laneage at Imperial Valley.

(01:29:33):
We're missing a left lane. Got a hard front door
on the north Freeway inbound. Guess where it's on A

have about a six minute backup. Slip back order slip
look at seven twenty and we will get you some

looking at an extra eleven minutes. I tend east. You've
got that stall at Waco on the outbound and terry

And by the way, I think you spelled Debbie wrong.

I think the folks in Florida don't care how it's

see that too often. Debbie A hurricane when it made
landfall near Steinhatchie, Florida.

Speaker 2 (01:30:28):
If you know where that is.

Speaker 20 (01:30:28):
That's on the big bend of Florida, and that's a
big mess for them. Debbie currently is still holding on
to hurricane strength eighty mile an hour winds in a
slow mover to the north northeast. So the rain that
is the primary concern, very very heavy rain from perhaps

(01:30:50):
more than two feet in parts of coastal Georgia and
South Carolina. And that's not today, that is heading into
tomorrow and Wednesday when it slows down North Florida heavy rain.
Flooding is the main concern with Debbie. Now, we're not
going to see any rain. We're like dry as can be,
just sunshine and temperatures in the nineties, low to upper

Speaker 45 (01:33:28):
Certainly I've been there seven months and I inherited a

I haven't changed. It's going to be a no nonsense

I don't know if you're moving around, but if you
kind of stand still, and if you have any like
aluminum foil you can hold in your hands or something,
it's it's it's kind of cutting in and out at
the bumpit. But I know that we'll try with this
question here about the chief. You didn't have to look
far to find a new police chief. What about him

(01:34:31):
stood out to you?

Speaker 19 (01:34:34):
No, nu.

Speaker 45 (01:34:37):

No, it's worked in public corruption. He's puffed and he's.

But he's also served time in the the Gator so Houston,

Speaker 10 (01:35:28):
Mister mayor.

Speaker 5 (01:35:28):
I hate to do this to you, but hang, I said,
let's let's try to try calling him back real quick
and see if we can re establish contact here because
we're just it's just cutting out too much, and I
want the Mayor to be able to get his his
points across without being interrupted. So let me know when
we've gone back on the phone, if we have a
better connection with it, we'll try again. But as I said,
Big newsweek here, no hed has that that decision has

(01:35:51):
been praised by a lot of people. I haven't found
anybody yet who's had anything negative to say about that hire,
So that that tells me that I think probably the
Mayor's been made a very good choice there, very popular choice.
Didn't have to go far to get him, and that's
a good thing. Certainly, Chief Diaz is going to have
his hands full. You know, we have a crime issue
in Houston's we have all across the country. We also

(01:36:14):
have a shortage of officers, again not unique or unusual
for Houston, Texas, but you know something that is maybe
the more difficult part of the job right now. And
then of course we've got the other news. They came
down I think on Friday, was it Friday or Saturday,
came down that Chevron is leaving California and is moving

(01:36:35):
its operations to Houston. Now it already has a big
presence in Houston. In fact, it's got more of a
presence in Texas now that it does in California, which
I guess is one of the reasons why they've decided
to make that move. I'm sure the politics of what's
going on in California haven't helped much either, because let's
face it, you know, they're not very energy friendly in California,

(01:36:57):
and that's a problem. If you're is an energy producing company,
then you need to be somewhere where you're wanted in,
somewhere where you're going to be supported. Intently, they're going
to find the environment a little bit more friendly. I
would think you're in Houston. Seventheen. Sorry, we had the
problem with the mayor's phone, but it happens. Well, we've
got to run past the time. At this point, we

(01:37:18):
can see for the American I mean, we can get
a couple more questions on me if you can get
ahold of them right away. But we're about out of time.
All right, we got them. All right, Let's try again,
Mayor whatmire, Let's try again. Let's see if I can
get you. I want to get your thoughts on Chevron
moving its World headquarters here to Houston.

Speaker 39 (01:37:34):
Well, I think it's a tremendous endorsement of our city.
They have had a huge presence already. I got a
call Friday at seven o'clock in the morning to confirm
that they're moving their headquarters and not to the suburbs,
but to downtown Houston.

Speaker 2 (01:37:50):
So we have a lot of work to do. We
want to.

Speaker 39 (01:37:53):
Improve the Central Business district. It needs cleaning up. We've
got to deal with the homeless issue. But they're very
bull on Houston and confident in administration that we're no
nonsense towards moving Houston forward, and I just think it's
something to celebrate. But it also reinforces that if we're

(01:38:13):
going to continue to attract major corporation businesses, we've got
to improve the city. We've got to improve our infrastructure,
deal with flooding, drainage. But starts with public safety, and
it was really a good week to reinforce public safety
as our highest party. We're going to put more officers

(01:38:33):
on the street, collaborate with the other departments, certainly partner
with DPS, and speak out about judges that we continue
to release people out on bond that posed a threat
to the streets of Houston, and so we have a
lot of work to do. But I was very pleased
with the success last week, and certainly we get word

(01:38:55):
that Chevron leaves Houston should be their corporate headquarters.

Speaker 12 (01:39:00):
We should not spend much time celebrate because they have
a lot of work to do.

Speaker 2 (01:39:04):
Well.

Speaker 5 (01:39:04):
For one thing, I'm sure you would like Centerpoint to
drastically improve their service, and ironically, that's an area of
energy where we need a little work right now, would you, Aggrace, There.

Speaker 39 (01:39:15):
No doubt Center Point's got to do a better job.
We've got to hold them accountable. They need to certainly
do better with their communications, but also they're dealing with
the vegetation we take out this last strong though I've
never seen growing up in Houston being at automate service
for fifty years. The number of trees, huge trees that

(01:39:36):
fail in experts tell me it's because we had two storms.
The direction storm in May softened the ground and then
the winds Young with Burrow just knocked down seventy five
year o pine trees all over across the Houston. But
it's a priority. We've got three contractors working with three
hundred people in the field. Every day. It's going to

(01:39:58):
take time, but I'm on Palm for Solid Waste Director.

Speaker 2 (01:40:04):
Up, there goes, there goes.

Speaker 39 (01:40:05):
We're committed. We're committed.

Speaker 5 (01:40:08):
All right, Maybe we can have somebody look at your
cell phone service too, But thank you, mister bear. Sorry
we had so many technical issues with the phone.

Speaker 39 (01:40:14):
Today.

Speaker 5 (01:40:15):
Seven twenty nine, you're on News radio seven forty k TRH.

Speaker 2 (01:40:20):
You are no Houston's News.

Speaker 25 (01:40:22):
Why there are traffic plus preaking news twenty four to seven.
This is News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 3 (01:40:29):
L everywhere, boys, IRP more of what's happening now from
the John Morris Services Studios.

Speaker 5 (01:40:36):
Seven thirty one is our time, Houston's Morning News. I'm
Jimmy Barrettlong with Cliff he sent for sha this morning.
Among our top stories, this haf hour looking like a
really bad day for the stock market, Israel expecting Iranian
retaliation sometime today, and coming up at seven thirty eight,
Trump on debating Harris details in the minutes ahead, You're
in Houston's Morning News. First, we're chaking out that morning

(01:40:59):
drive again. Here's sky Mike A.

Speaker 2 (01:41:01):
Forty five northbound. I got a back order slip up
from Tidwell and Parker northbound. KTRH listeners were the first
to know we had this problem. It's air rerec It
looks like everybody's okay, it's two left lines. We'll call
it Little York. And now there's the backup. Twelve extra
minutes that way. Big shots jump on the Hardy Toll Road.
Commenters do the east text golf Freeway, breaks at Edgebrook,
breaks at Scott, but we're not bumping into each other.

(01:41:23):
Clear light up. We lose about eight minutes. Skymike, it's
your generator Supercenter dot com Traffic Center.

Speaker 5 (01:41:28):
From r KTRH. Generator is super Center twenty four. Our
weather center Sunday and hot today with the high temperature
right about ninety seven. We'll get you the complete forecast
when we talk to Terry Smith at the Weather Channel
at eight minutes. Right now, it's eighty at your official
severe weather station, News Radio seven forty k TRH. It
is time now for the news in for Shriff today.
Here's Cliff Sanders.

Speaker 2 (01:41:49):
Thank you, Jimmy.

Speaker 6 (01:41:49):
It is seven thirty two. Our top story. It's going
to be a bloodbath on Wall Street. Dow futures are
down by more than eleven hundred points as of now,
Foreign markets across the globe zobe have crashed, driven down
by the American economy, the Biden administration claimed was rolling.

Speaker 18 (01:42:06):
We turned tactically a bit more cautious three four weeks ago. Roughly,
the US economy and generally US data has been weaker
and has been weaker for two months now.

Speaker 6 (01:42:15):
That is Christian Mueller Glissman with Goldman Sachs earlier today
on Bloomberg. The markets also scared by rising tensions in
the Middle East. Iran could retaliate against Israel as early
as today for assassinating a top Hamas leader.

Speaker 46 (01:42:30):
The Wall Street Journal does report that Iran told US
and Arab diplomats that it didn't care if its counter
strike started a war. Jordan's foreign minister was in Iran
yesterday for a meeting, and President Biden is scheduled to
speak with Jordanian King Abdullah the Second, But there has
been very little public Iranian interaction with those trying to

(01:42:50):
avert a crisis.

Speaker 6 (01:42:52):
That is Fox's Tree inks. The Biden administration, after all
the backlash, pulls the deal it made with three nine
to eleven prisoners, including the Mastermind colleague Shaik Muhammad. The
decision made by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

Speaker 27 (01:43:04):
Either Secretary of Austin and the White House had no
idea this was going on and was ignorant, or they
knew that this whole time and now are trying to
pretend that they were ignorant, which is that you can't
have it both ways.

Speaker 6 (01:43:18):
Florida Congressman Michael wants the original deal did not include
the death penalty. A report from the Commission on the
National Defense Strategy says the US military is not prepared
for a major global conflict.

Speaker 28 (01:43:31):
It's not because of our military state of who we
are and what we do. It all comes down very
simply to presidential leadership, the guidance after president provides as commander,
chief and leader of the National Security Team.

Speaker 6 (01:43:43):
Retired Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg says there have been no
messages of strength presented by President Joe Biden to our
adversaries since he took office. It's seven thirty four. Kamala
Harris won't debate Donald Trump. On September fourth, on Fox
Trump announced the debate on which would take place in Pennsylvania.
Harris wants Trump to do the debate on her turf.

(01:44:05):
ABC September tenth. Harris in the left have been attacking JD.
Vance ever since Trump chose him as his running mate,
calling him weird. Vance is hitting back.

Speaker 10 (01:44:16):
They can call me whatever they want to. The middle
school taunts, don't bother me.

Speaker 29 (01:44:20):
What bothers me and what offends me is what Kamala
Harris has done to this country over three and a
half years.

Speaker 6 (01:44:25):
At is Dvance with Fox's Sunday Morning Futures, and they
call him weird, but say nothing about Robert F. Kennedy Junior,
who admitted to dumping a dead bear cub in Central
Park in New York City and staging it to look
like it had been hit by a cyclist seven point
thirty five. Now, we haven't heard much about the bid
rigging case against the former staffers of Harris County Judge

(01:44:48):
Lena Hidalgo lately. Holly Hanson with The Texan says the
next move is up to Attorney General Ken Paxton.

Speaker 23 (01:44:54):
As usual, when there's an investigation underway, those investigating are
reluctant to make any moment about it, and we're all
still waiting for news about that.

Speaker 6 (01:45:04):
I'm going to a kim Ogg turned the case over
to Paxton. Back in April, the state Attorney general is
fighting the cities of Austin and San Marcos over hot laws,
leading to a debate over state versus city powers when
it comes to marijuana.

Speaker 30 (01:45:18):
So Kansas City decriminalized marijuana in Texas, not exactly.

Speaker 31 (01:45:22):
They said, Okay, we passed this resolution, but again it
has it has no functional meaning except the reflection of
the opinion of the voter.

Speaker 30 (01:45:31):
Gary polland with the Texas Conservative Review says, at the
end of the day, only the Texas legislature can change laws.

Speaker 31 (01:45:37):
You got to remember that the city of Emma Counties
are basically entities of the state of Texas and what
they're able to do is related to Texas Constitution Texas law.

Speaker 30 (01:45:46):
Paulin says that he thinks all the referendums and ordinances
will eventually make it into court and they'll be dead
on arrival. Ethan Buchanan News Radio seven forty KTRH, Thank.

Speaker 6 (01:45:55):
You, Ethan, seven thirty six. Twenty two million Americans under
threat from Hurricane deb which made landfall in Florida this morning.
More than one hundred and twenty thousand are already without power.

Speaker 32 (01:46:05):
These heavy rains historic rains will make this storm feel
like a major hurricane from an impacts perspective, So please
please please take it seriously.

Speaker 6 (01:46:15):
Jamie Rome with the National Hurricane Center. Some coastal residents
hit hard by Barrel last month are now facing a
potential rate increase of up to ten percent from the
Texas Windstorm Insurance Association. Texas Insurance Adjuster Ron Snopfer says
options are limited, so shop carefully.

Speaker 22 (01:46:32):
Make sure you're comparing apples to apples when it comes
to coverage. It's just because you have a cheaper rate
doesn't mean you have better insurance. A lot of the
insurance companies are actually reducing coverage to give you discounts,
but then you don't realize that you don't have coverage
until you need it.

Speaker 6 (01:46:46):
ETWIA says it needs the rate height to cover increased
payouts because of higher property values and construction costs. The
Texas Insurance Commissioner as the final say on any rate increase. Finally,
the astros lose to the raise one nothing. They visit
the Rangers tonight. We'll have pregame at six on Sports
Talk seven ninety. First pitched seven O five on seven

game in the Al West, and more bad news for
the local nine. It appears as if pitcher Lance McCullers
will miss the rest of the season. He hasn't pitched
in two years now because of elbow injuries. And for Sharah,
I'm Cliff Saunders on Houston's news, weather and traffic stations

Speaker 5 (01:47:26):

work two eight, one, three five six dirt.

Speaker 10 (01:47:32):
I live in their park. I live in the woodlands.

Speaker 3 (01:47:34):
You're reliable forecast next on the ten on seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 5 (01:47:41):
Supposedly, Kamala basically issued a challenge to Trump to debater
and then turned down his invitation to debate. President Trump
wants the debate on Fox for for pretty obvious reasons,
even though Fox doesn't you know, a lot of the
anchors Fox don't particularly care for him, at least still

(01:48:02):
get a more fair venue than ABC or CBS or NBC.
Common of course wants to go at ABC because at
ABC then they can control everything and get the questions
ahead of time and all the things that they think
they is necessary for them to stand the chance of
the debate. President Trump got asked about all the whole
debate thing. Here's what he said.

Speaker 36 (01:48:22):
Look, she's a third rate candidate.

Speaker 12 (01:48:25):
She failed at.

Speaker 9 (01:48:26):
Her attempt to against many other candidates. You know, she
was the first one to drop out. She never made Iowa.
And that was when you had a normal press. Now
you have a press that's trying to protect her. The
media is really dishonest, and you have a presage stry.
So maybe she'll do better. I don't know, but I
think ultimately when they hear she wants to defund the police,
when they hear that she wants open borders and always

(01:48:48):
wanted them.

Speaker 36 (01:48:49):
But it is amazing.

Speaker 9 (01:48:50):
I watched the news yesterday and it's almost like she
wants to have strong borders. All of a sudden. She
was the worst borders are in history. And you know,
with politics, it's your first thought that you always go
back to. She wanted open borders, and that's where she'll be.
She wants all of these things that are bad for
our country, and she does want to defund the police.

Speaker 12 (01:49:10):
She's weak on police.

Speaker 36 (01:49:11):
You know, I have almost one hundred.

Speaker 9 (01:49:13):
Percent of the police forces, the police people, the associations
are endorsing Trump. The sheriffs all over the country. Nobody's
endorsing her. She ruined San Francisco. She's a San Francisco Liberal.
She ruined San Francisco. She ruined the state of California.
She was earlier than some of these people that are
so bad right now.

Speaker 5 (01:49:34):
Yeah, all the more reason why she's not going to
want a debate. They'll do their level best. They'll come
up with all kinds of reasons why she doesn't want
a debate. They don't have anything to do with issues,
But I think they're just trying to keep her as
far away from issues right now as they can. Seven
forty time for traffic and weather together, we're check out
the drive again. Here's skuy Mine weeer.

Speaker 2 (01:49:52):
Nord Freeway that was an outbound wreck at Little York.
Mike from Willis has a banana sticker on his toolbox
this morning, and the outbound we're still all packed up.
Just after the loop you lose about twelve minutes. So
let's jump on the hardy big shots and common people
do the East text Freeway. Southwest Freeway starting to smush
up now right around Hillcroft. It's not bad as the

(01:50:12):
southwest goes, but then you hit the brakes after Kirby northbound,
you lose about six minutes.

Speaker 10 (01:50:16):
Here.

Speaker 2 (01:50:17):
Look at that West Park tollway. I took a little
field trip this weekend and fourteen sixty four. We've got
the roadwork here. No, that's not roadwork, that's just a
big smunt Here at attics cloding. You lose about seven
minutes this way, Katie visors, you look nice. Mason wrote,
some breaks. Otherwise, you're good to go to the President's
if you had a grand march at your wedding two nineties.
Packed up at Eldridge Parkway north sam both ways. That's

(01:50:40):
roadwork Alding Westfield westbound eastbound, Imperial Valley two eighty eight,
the breaks at the Beltway. Social media friends, Kim League City,
Jeff from Conrod, Jack from Connecticut's listening on the free
iHeartRadio app. And we've got we'll take a look at
your ship channel bridges at the seven fifty brank Good grief, Terry.
You need about eight arms, so you got all those screens? Push?

(01:51:02):
Is that a compass and a protractor? Wow? I'm in
the Generator Supercenter dot Com traffic Center. She's got the
mega Doppler. I will yield.

Speaker 5 (01:51:10):
I didn't know what to do with the protractor when
we actually use protractors from our katrh Generator super Center
twenty four hour Weather Center, Terry is here. You don't
need a protector to know what's going on with Debbie,
do you?

Speaker 19 (01:51:20):
No?

Speaker 14 (01:51:21):
You don't.

Speaker 20 (01:51:21):
Unfortunately, yeah, Debbie's hanging on to that hurricane strength eighty
mile an hour. Oh now it's down to seventy five. Okay,
good deal, seventy five mile an hour wins. It's going
to slowly weekend. The big problem is it's a slow mover,
and that means heavy rain and very very widespread flooding expected,

(01:51:42):
not only in Florida, but as it makes its way
into Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina. It looks like we'll
be dealing with elements of Debbie through a good bit
of this week, at least through Friday at this point,
so we'll keep an eye on it. We're sunny, hot,
and dry. I don't really see much in the way
of range answers for us this week. Temperatures today will

(01:52:03):
be in the nineties load upper nineties like yesterday, most
of us in the mid upper nineties Tomorrow and then
high pressure is getting stronger toward the last half of
the week, So I'm expecting high temperature's upper nineties to
just over one hundred degrees Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Speaker 5 (01:52:20):
Right now, it's eighty one a your official severe weather station.
News Radio seven forty KTRH what you need to know
for the day ahead.

Speaker 3 (01:52:28):
This is Houston's morning News, brought to you by New
South Windows Solutions.

Speaker 5 (01:52:34):
Find this very interesting. The Texas Public Utility Commission wants
your input on utility performance after Beryl. Really, they need
our input. The Texas Public Utilities Commission wants our input
on how things went after Beryl. Really, I would like

(01:52:56):
to think that they paid enough attention and heard enough
to know exactly how things went. And by the way,
things are still not going well in some spots. There's
a restaurant here in Houston that still doesn't have their power.
They've been without power for.

Speaker 6 (01:53:08):
Like a month in that restaurant may as well close
at this point.

Speaker 5 (01:53:11):
No kidding, I mean you drove these people out of business.
The Kroger store in my neighborhood right down the street
lost their power on Sunday for at least they had
been out for like six hours when I got there.
You couldn't buy anything in frozen foods. They were they
were hauling out all the stuff from frozen foods. They're
the only thing anywhere in the area that didn't have power.

Speaker 6 (01:53:34):
The tipping point for people to get really ticked off
about this was when Darren Carroll told you and Shara
a couple of weeks after the storm that they were
proud of their response.

Speaker 5 (01:53:44):
Yeah, well that was the tipping point in all honesty.
The point I'm trying to make with this is is
I think there were a lot of repairs that were
made on the quick. You know, just get everything back
up and running, don't care what you got to do.
Get everybody up as fast as you can. We're going
to continue to have some problems, I believe, because that's
the way some of the things were fixed. And maybe

(01:54:05):
that's you know, maybe that's the way they had to
be fixed. Some of them had to be temporary fixes.
So don't expect that we're done. I think we've we're
gonna see a few problem spot from time to time.
All right, seven fifty one time for traffic and weather together.
As we check in again to sky Mike.

Speaker 2 (01:54:19):
We're gonna get Luthy shortly. But first let's go to
the north side.

Speaker 24 (01:54:22):
Hey, this is Stacy on the north side and forty
five inbounds.

Speaker 29 (01:54:27):
Just before the spar curve.

Speaker 10 (01:54:28):
There's a three car accident in the left lane.

Speaker 18 (01:54:31):
I'm really hoping for a banana sticker.

Speaker 2 (01:54:34):
You got one, Stacy, put this on your head here
and then you can explain it at work. Look at
that back up from west Road. I'll tell the pretty
ladies on TV about it and they'll have it too.
Skymike on the Generator.

Speaker 5 (01:54:44):
Supercenter dot Com Traffic Center from r KTRH Generator Supercenter,
twenty four hour Weather Center. Sunny and hot ninety seven today,
about ninety eight tomorrow. Plady of sunshine. Right around one
hundred on Wednesday, and we could be the low one
hundreds through the weekend. Temperature right now is eighty two.
At your official severe weather station, News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Time to check out some of our top stories on
this Monday in for Shri Today, here's Cliff.

Speaker 6 (01:55:09):
Thank you, Jimmy. We're sponsored by Morrow Mechanical. First, she
said Trump wouldn't debate her. Now Kamala says she won't
debate Trump on Fox. Dow futures down more than eleven
hundred points this morning with concerns about a recession after
Friday's bad jobs report. And it's back to school today
for kids in three districts in Liberty and Polk Counties. Yes,

Speaker 1 (01:55:41):

Speaker 5 (01:55:44):
Word Salads. In her first off the Cuff remarks, we
played the cliff for you on Friday. In her first
Off the Cuff remarks on Thursday, she got into a
word salad on diplomacy.

Speaker 2 (01:55:55):
It gets analyzed here by the five.

Speaker 7 (01:55:58):
This is just extraordinary testament to the importance of having
the president who understands the power of diplomacy and understands
the strength that rests in understanding significance of diplomacy.

Speaker 9 (01:56:15):
Now the media is taken over and they tried to
make her into Margaret Thatcher, but I don't think that's
going to work.

Speaker 12 (01:56:20):
She was the worst vice person.

Speaker 9 (01:56:22):
She was the most unpopular and least respected vice president
in the history of our country, and now what's happened
is the press is trying to make her popular.

Speaker 29 (01:56:31):
Kamala Harris is a chameleon. She goes to Georgia two
days ago. She was raised in Canada. She puts on
a face of an accent. She is everything to everybody,
and she pincedents to be somebody different depending on which
audience she's in front of.

Speaker 36 (01:56:44):
She is in a honeymoon period.

Speaker 47 (01:56:46):
I mean, there's no question about it, but I want
to say, well, the real Kamala Harris please stand up.
You know, we've been subjected for the past three and
a half years to a word salad, and of course,
in her first unscripted comment since she became the the
designated candidate and now she is officially the designated candidate,
the first one was a word salad. You know, when

(01:57:07):
you don't know what to say, you just keep repeating
what you just said. And even her own campaign had
to come out and clean it up. It reminded me
of the Joe Biden clean up team. But she is inauthentic.

Speaker 36 (01:57:17):
She is bizarre.

Speaker 2 (01:57:18):
She cackles.

Speaker 47 (01:57:19):
She we don't know what Republic for Sona is and
that's just talking about what we're seeing on the outside.
Now she's adopting Republican talking points. Now she believes in fracking,
when she didn't believe in fracking. And now it's like,
you know, all of a sudden, you know, we gotta
make we're not going to mandate that we take away

(01:57:39):
your guns. And she doesn't want to single pay her
healthcare anymore. I mean, now she's like a Republican.

Speaker 3 (01:57:46):
I don't know what she is.

Speaker 47 (01:57:48):
And so when she adopts these Republican positions, when she
has an accent in a state where she never grew
up in, you know, I agree with Van Jones.

Speaker 36 (01:57:57):
Van Jones is worried. He's worried for good.

Speaker 5 (01:58:01):
She is, in a word, disingenuous. She's different things to
different people depending on who she has to speak to
and what their position is on any particular issue. There's
nothing about her that's genuine whatsoever. She's just a social

(01:58:21):
climber who has managed to find herself in a position
where she's actually going to get the nomination to run
for president of the United States. Of course, she's not
going to run anything. If she gets it, they'll be
up to others as it has been for the last
four years. All Right, listen. You' all have a great day.
I'll see you tomorrow morning, bright and early, five am

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
