Speaker 1 (00:00):
There are still some conservatives out there, at least people
who consider themselves to be Conservatives, who are never Trumpers.
They just can't bring themselves to vote for Donald Trump,
so they'll either set out the election or they might
even consider voting for the other side, even though the
other side is so close to socialism you would think
it would go against every grain of a so called
conservatives ideas. Chris Johnson joins us GOP strategies. How can
(00:24):
be a never Trumper right now? Chris? How could you
possibly do that at this point?
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Yeah, as a young Republican, it's kind of fascinating to
me because Donald Trump has been the one consistent figure
in conservative politics for basically our entire adult lives. If
you're in the under thirty crowd, especially with the college
Republicans that we're looking at, we're kind of looking at
disbelief at the folks who won't make peace with the
fact that he's the nominee. He's the guy, he defines
(00:50):
the movement. Even if you're not one hundred percent in
love with the guy, you've got to realize that if
you want to be a part of this and you
want to prevent socialism from taking over America. He's the option.
Working with them and finding a way to work within
a pro Trump GOP is really the only way forward.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
Are they truly never Trumpers or are they just the establishment
who are losing their grip of control of the party
and they don't want to let go.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
You know, it's a little column a little columnbe It
really depends on who you're talking to, you know. And
I talked to some of these folks, you know, especially
never Trumpers and media or on the hill or whatever
they are. Some of them are genuine. Some of them
just have really, you know, deeply held issues with the president,
with the former president, and I get that, but there's
(01:34):
a certain degree of you've got to move on. You
got to figure out how to how to prevent you know,
Democrats from taking over, especially looking at the polling for
Harrison Waltz right now a lot of the other ones. Yeah,
though there's definitely a just sense of this is my party.
It got taken away from me, and I'm still mad
about it.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Ten years later. Well, not just mad, worried, I would
say they're worried. They're worried that somebody like Crump could
actually come in and actually blow up the bureaucracy of
which they are part of.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Yeah, yeah, that's without a doubt. And I think that's
really the you know, we've talked about cutting government and
reducing the size of government for years and never really
done it. And now we're talking about, you know, President
Trump's plans to use different programs that would actually allow
him to fire like fifty thousand bureaucrats. I mean, that's
(02:21):
that's a dream in my mind. You know, somebody who
grew up as a small government conservative, that's the ideal situation.
And so watching people still claim to be small government
conservatives watching President Trump talk about how he's going to
new cou bureaucracy and still find a way to get
mad about it. I think there's a little bit of
their worried about their livelihood, and there's a little bit
(02:41):
of their worried about that he's going to take away
the one thing that they claimed he was insufficiently conservative on,
and that's a real problem for their ego and both directions.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
How can you hope to appeal to somebody who is
so irrational that they think that socialist communism is preferable
because of their Trump arrangement syndrome I mean, I don't
think that you can appeal to the people who think
like that.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
I think they've been living in a world where because
Biden is old and Trump's gonna win anyways, they haven't
really thought about it too hard. And then when Harris
entered the race, it was kind of a blank slate.
They weren't thinking about what actual policy implications I would have,
and they gotten this crouch of yeah, I really just
don't like Trump's and how bad could it be if
Harris gets elected. Now we're seeing policies roll out from
(03:27):
the Harris Waltz foks, one of which is talking about
controlling prices for groceries, and we know exactly where that leads.
That leads to food shortages, that leads to your neighborhood
grocery store going under that leads to the government takeover
of food and agriculture. That's terrifying. And so I think
there's going to be more opportunities to make people aware
(03:50):
of how serious the threat is. How you know, if
we at a Kamala Harris, you know, price controls, Green
New Deal kind of presidency, that that would be dev
stating for America for the next four years, and that
might clarify. Hey, even if you're not one hundred percent
on board with Trump, at least stay quiet for the
next few months. Hold your tongue. Let's get through this
(04:12):
and let's come out the other side on the same team.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Well, and let's tell Americas it's not just going to
be the next four years if this comes to pass,
it'll be the next forty years. It'll be like this, Chris,
thank you, appreciate it one. Chris Johnson, GOP strategist. It's
five pin fifty seven
