Speaker 1 (00:00):
This sounds like a familiar playbook to me. Today, the
Harris Countymmissions Court expected to vote an item four hundred
where the Office of County Administration will attempt to take
responsibility of voter registration away from the elected voter registrar
to quote unquote increase voter registration. In other words, another
third party vendor who would be responsible for mailing out

(00:20):
ballots to get people registered.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
To vote, paid by the Democrats in tax dollars.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Huh, and likely we'd end up with some non citizens
that would be registered, which course is illegal. Precinctree Commissioner
Tom Ramsey joins us. Boy, they never stopped, do they, Commissioner, It.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Is relentless in terms of what is pursued in the
in the conversation of well, we just want to help
people get the word out, registered people to vote. It's
it's really the time of this as much as anything. Wow,
just weeks before the election, are we trying to do

(01:00):
a voter outreach program. It's interesting that just a few
weeks back, the tax accessor collector who's responsible for voter registration,
she asked for increased funding and she didn't get it.
Now we suddenly have found two hundred thousand dollars to

(01:21):
help her do voter outreach.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Is that coming from outside sources? Is that coming from
outside sources or is that within the budget?

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Oh, it's not that they find money laying in all
different kinds of pots around there. It's amazing. When they
want to do something, how they go find money to
do it. So they this will be on the agenda
v The hope is that when this comes up, this
is the responsibility of the tax ascessor collector, and there

(01:51):
is not enough time for the county administrator, an unelected
bureaucrat to do this. So they're going to have to
ask the tax successor collector to do this program. And
I hope that Anne Harris Bennett's office, her chief deputy
is Wendy Caesar. I believe that when they look at this,

(02:12):
they're going to say, you know, when the Lieutenant governor
of the State of Texas says this is a really
bad thing, when the Secretary of State is going to
be looking over your shoulder, maybe we shouldn't do it.
I hope she said, simply just say no to this
really bad idea.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Is it in any way illegals there as you can
tell and if so, is there a potential lawsuit of
work here?

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Well, I think there. I think all of that's in
play because how are the addresses selected. They say it's
going to houses where there is no one registered to vote. Well,
there's a really really good possibility if you send letters
to houses where the it's not registered voters. That means
there could be people that are or not here legally,

(03:02):
it could be undocumented. Very high percentage of this will
go there, and that's not legal. You can't tempt people
who can't legally vote to go vote. So the Secretary
of State I think will be watching. Obviously, the Lieutenant
governor will be watching. I hope that they will have
good judgment today and the second and the tactics session

(03:26):
collector simply says, no, we're not going to do it,
and that'll be the end of that at least this attempt.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Well, calling attention to it is a great start, but
boy is kind of a late hour to be calling
attention to it. How much play is has gotten across
the broader community.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
In terms of sending these letters out.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
Of knowing that knowing they're trying to pull this.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Well, I contacted everybody I knew and certainly I've had
lots of contacts. I appreciate the Lieutenant Governor issuing his
press release yesterday, as John Atten to it, I promise
you the tax Assessor collector has made note of that
as well. So I'm I'm going to go into this

(04:09):
with I don't think she wants the Secretary of State
looking over her shoulder and her last four months in office.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Yeah, I really don't, or or Harris Coonty in general
having the state looking over her child. All right, Commissioner
for making time, Thanks for letting us know and keep
us some forward please. That's Precinct three. Commissioner Tom Ramsey,
you all have a great day.
