Speaker 1 (00:00):
Odyssey. Yep, they've got ten ten wins WBBM and Chicago,
KNX in Los Angeles, WWYL, New Orleans, PHT in Philadelphia,
and the list goes on and on major market talk
stations owned by Odyssey that will probably not be conservative
talk stations anymore, safe bet if George Soros owns them.

(00:22):
Tim Graham joins us executive editor with NewsBusters and Media
Research Center. This seems to beginning the fast track through
the FCC. Then again, the head of the FCC right
now is a Democrat, So that makes it pretty easy
to get this through, doesn't it, Tim.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Well, it's yes, there's a five member panel, of course, yes,
it's the Democrats are in charge, and yeah, fast track
it now before we change parties.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
You know, if you can't win on the message and
just buy the messenger, is that how this works?

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Well, it's kind of funny because obviously here at NewsBusters
we are monitoring the national news media on television, in
particular print newspapers, and they already have dominance in that
so called mainstream media. I think what they've been trying
to do now is, yes, people trust their local media
more than they trust the national media. So now they

(01:12):
want to ruin that too.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
So it's about shutting down. Is about shutting down the opposition,
is what you're telling us.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Well, I mean, obviously both sides want to have a
media to get their message out. But obviously these left
wing billionaires are Yeah, they're putting their money into quote
unquote news, and that's you know, you have to get
out ahead of that and sort of make sure that
people know who owns the news and what they're trying

(01:41):
to tell you. And hopefully, you know, you want people
who vote to have a very diet of what they're
reading and seeing and decide for themselves. But obviously, when
you when you've got the billions to spend, you're like,
let me make your decision for you.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
And they do it.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
And it doesn't always have to be just outright buying
the stations. It can be how they advertise, what they advertise,
how much revenues determine. It can be special grants in
some cases to certain studies or certain divisions. I mean,
it's really insidious almost how this can happen.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Yeah, and then I guess the other thing, the other
piece of this puzzle is always we have the so
called public broadcasters where we have to send their own
money to get liberal messaging out. I mean that's something
that really is upsetting in an election season when you know,
the tone of the news coverage has gotten very harsh.
Now in the closing weeks, I think that there's a

(02:44):
sense that the Democrats are not doing well, so they're
hopping up on this whole Donald Trump's and something false
and do you know he's a threat to democracy type
of coverage.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Well, we know newspapers, okay, But it was the whole
premise broadcasting being public airways and the fact that you
have to be licensed, and then all of a sudden,
here we got you know, not all of a sudden,
but it happened. And now has been decades of cable
TVs and owned stations, and so people will kind of

(03:15):
forget about the line that there used to be, or
there was supposed to be between what was a licensed
public broadcast facility. The big legacy media is of ABC,
CBS and how perverted they've become.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Yeah, and they are still the big dogs. They may
not have the same audience size that they used to,
but you know, in terms of people deciding what the
news is, these networks still dominate the public conversation. But
as your right to say, cable news not regulated by
the SCC. All of these networks now have streaming services

(03:51):
not regulated by the FCC. You know, I thought this
sort of funny yesterday. I thought, well, the SCC hasn't
exactly cracked down on the broadcast network in a while,
and then I discovered but with a little research, they had.
The largest fine ever was in twenty twenty and it
was Sinclair Broadcasting and this was while Trump was president.

(04:12):
So you know, it's you can't say that the conservative
media don't get punished.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
By the government because they did yeap even when the
conservative was in charge. Tim, thank you appreciate it. Executive
