Vershan agrees to postpone sentencing in his business fraud conviction

Speaker 9 (02:21):
Consider the implications of that for an American president. It
would mean a local judge and a local prosecutor. They
have basically the president on a leash.
Speaker 8 (02:30):
Legal analyst Jonathan Turley on Fox.
Speaker 6 (02:33):
The President elect made more additions to his cabinet yesterday,
nominating Howard Lutnick for Commerce Secretary. Doctor Oz is going
to lead the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and
Linda McMahon will be the Secretary of Education. Now, we
keep hearing about the possibility of recess appointments for Trump's cabinet,
but what are those exactly? Well, political strategists flat davidik says,
(02:57):
it's a way to bypass a full Senate vote, and
while the GOP holds control, the unity of the party
will be critical.
Speaker 10 (03:04):
Obviously, the Democrats are going to strongly oppose any adjournment
motions that would enable recess appointments, and if Republican senators
are not unified in maintaining the process, that could cause
some issues down the road.
Speaker 6 (03:18):
We'll i have more on Trump's picks coming up at
five point thirty. Another Trump nominee, South Dakota Governor Christy
Noam is set to run the Department of Homeland Security,
but not every conservative is actually.
Speaker 11 (03:31):
On board, and that would include John Davidson, senior editor
at The Federalist, who says it's time to do away
with the DHS.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
It really has gotten out of control.
Speaker 12 (03:40):
They're really about surveilling and spying on and censoring American citizens.
Speaker 11 (03:45):
And Davidson is also not a big fan of Christinome.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
She's been on the wrong.
Speaker 12 (03:50):
Side of some really key issues that are important to
Trump voters, like illegue of immigration. She's the wrong person
for this pick. There's better people to pick than Christine.

Grand River, doing more to deny illegal entry into the
state of Texas.
Speaker 6 (04:24):
Telling k TIH is Sean Hannity that those booies will
be deployed today. The General Land Office is offering President
elect Trump a fourteen hundred acre Star County ranch as
a site to build detention centers for those deportations. Meantime,
in Georgia, the prosecution rests in the trial of the
illegal alien charge with killing Lincoln Riley. Yesterday we found
(04:47):
out her exact cause of death.
Speaker 14 (04:49):
Her cause of death is to combined the facts of
bump force, head trauma and assysia.
Speaker 13 (04:54):
What is remainder of death homicide?
Speaker 6 (04:56):
Ose Ibarra, the illegal alien charged with this murder is
reportedly a member of the gang Trend Dear Ragua in

Speaker 15 (05:23):
I'm a man of face, and I think that it
would keep us kind of, you know, moving in the
right direction, if you will.
Speaker 6 (05:31):
That man talking to our TV partner channel to A
final vote will come on Friday. Also in Austin, political
analyst Luke Massia says House Democrats could be the ones
who ultimately choose the next speaker, possibly joining Republicans to
select a so called moderate and replace Dade Feeling.
Speaker 16 (05:50):
They want to deliver their votes to somebody else. Let's
call this person Dad two point zero, and that could
be Dustin Burroughs or Greg Bonman or Brad Buckley.
Speaker 6 (06:00):
Feeling is being challenged not only by Republican David Cook,
but by two Democrats. The new Texas Stock Exchange is
set to launch in Dallas next year, and that means
you can expect even more economic growth here in the
lone Star state.
Speaker 17 (06:15):
This is just the logical next step in Texas becoming
a major economic hub with all.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
The growth we're having in Texas right now.
Speaker 18 (06:21):
It is something that will allow companies to have a
more efficient way to enter the public markets and access
public money.
Speaker 17 (06:27):
Economic researcher Ray Perry Mental KTRH. This could be especially
helpful to new companies in Texas.
Speaker 18 (06:32):
The main thing it's going to do is allow younger companies,
emerging companies to have a place they can come in
order to get started in the financial markets and achieve
their next levels of success.
Speaker 17 (06:41):
Perriman says this won't cause any immediate major changes, but
it will make the Texas economy more efficient. Ethan Buchanan,

When you're entering the terminal where the terminal D, Terminal

that was closed by Terminal D that basically had you know,
had that lane drop there that caused the traffic back

Speaker 5 (07:45):
If you would like to be Italian. There's a little
Italian town that would like to invite you to come
move in. They're selling homes for one euro no one euro.
Might as well say for buck now. They're dilapidate. Oh,
I shouldn't say the last. They're fixer uppers. They're big
time fixer uppers. But you might need the Gaines family
(08:10):
to to help you rebuild these things. They're using this
last election in Ola, Sardinia to offer homes to disgrenolled
Americans for as little as one year O. The website
is called live in Oloa. I'm not sure how you pronounced.
The name of this town is spelled o l l
o l ai Olole. Maybe Olola make a pitch to
(08:32):
people worn out by politics to just come and enjoy
a picturesque Italian town and you know, eat spaghetti every
week and live next door to a Gina Lowe the
bridge to look alike or Sophia Loren look alike that.
I don't know if there's anybody in that town looks
like that. Here's the problem with this little town. They've
been losing residents consistently over the decades, and the town
(08:54):
keeps getting smaller and smaller. And smaller. The mayor of
the town thinks the answer here is to attract Americans
to move there, which is thus the offer to not
only to give you a fast track as far as
getting permission to live in Sardinia, but also giving you
a fast track to purchase one of these homes for
just one euro. You could also purchase one for about
(09:16):
one hundred five thousand dollars that's already fixed up and
ready to move into if you want to. I mean,
if you're looking to escape. I don't know how many
people in this town speak English, though, so that language
might be a problem. Five ten Time for traffic and
weather together. Do you have a speed limit in Sardinia.
I don't think they do, skuy Mike. They might not
even have a road though in Sardinia might want to
(09:36):
consider that.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
I don't think they have enough room for pickup trucks.
That's why they have those little beating cars in Europe.
All right, let's go, you know what, put your hard
heads on. We'll go somewhere where there's pickup trucks. Let's
check out the hard working the east side. And as
I flip over here to one forty six, our heart members,
let me see that show. Oh you look good on
the top. Let's look from a Zuri street this way.
Oh wow, look at camera number one three zero seven.
(09:58):
If you're playing the home game, it's beautiful. From the
Baytown side, we're rocking a long now off Grand park
Wayflip over to the Laporte side.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
Looks good.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
Toll bridge rocking long and no issues on six '
ten either. I'm giving you a clean bill on the
hard work in east side. I'm Skymike and the Generator Supercenter,

Center from r ktra stop tax dependers twenty four hour
weather's centered.
Speaker 21 (10:22):
Is there a tornado blowing through?
Speaker 5 (10:24):
Something's blown through, But it's not a tornado. I don't
think it's even that windy. I think it's it's a
nice it's a nice morning out there. And Terry Smith
and we're going to really enjoy the temperatures today.
Speaker 21 (10:35):
Oh, I think you are going to enjoy the temperatures
and the winds. They've been kicking up a little bit
here and there. Nothing too bad.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
Now.
Speaker 21 (10:45):
The coal Front is making its way through southeast Texas
as we speak, and so we'll see those winds shift
around to the north. And that's going to limit how
much our temperatures warm up today. Looking at highs in
the upper se this is like a little more than
ten degrees cooler than yesterday, and then chili tonight in
(11:07):
the forties. Overnight tomorrow blue sky's upper sixties to low seventies.
It gets a little warmer over the weekend. Load of
mid seventies Friday and Saturday, and close to eighty by Sunday.
Speaker 5 (11:19):
Temperture right now, Oh, by the way, windsor at twelve
miles per hour, so not too windy yet. Right now,
right now, sixty at your officials, severe weather station. News
Radio seven forty k TRH.

Speaker 5 (11:39):
So we've got more cabinet appointments to talk about today,
Doctor ozga, Doctor oz, Yeah, doctor oz got a gabinet appointment.
Linda McMahon, who served in the first Trump administration as
the head of the Small Business Administration. She's from you.
She used to run the World Wrestling Federation WWE. I
guess is what it's called these days used to be
the WWF anyway she used to do that. Does she know,
(12:02):
by the way, that if that's a temporary job, if
the President gets his way, Because he fully supports complete
elimination of the Department of Education, and so do Vovek
Ramaswami and Elon Musk who are heading up DOSE at
the Department of Government Efficiency. They also support getting rid
of the Department of Education. So she must know going
(12:24):
in it's a temporary job, right. I don't know how
long she has it. She won't make many friends, I
would think while she's there, because she's a big time supporter,
as she should be, of school choice and as we
know national education, they don't support school choice. Five twenty
time for traffic and whether together more.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
Somebody for the Department of Transportation. Yet he does. Oh man,
did you want that one?
Speaker 22 (12:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (12:49):
I was just going to say, everybody drive faster. We
got Grand Parkway. Now we're rocking alrong. I'm rocking along
from ninety making your way all the way up through
trying to get over to Roman Forest or New Canny.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
You're looking good.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
I still feel a little bit of wind out there
looking around from the woodlands over to Tomba. If you're
somebody's butler that way. We're in good shape here. The
west part of gram Parkway all clear right now. It's
an easy headache free drive. I'm Skymike on the Classic
BUW at GMC Traffic Center.
Speaker 5 (13:18):
Let me guess if you were Secretary of Transportation, the
first thing you would do would be to eliminate nationwide
speed limit.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
Yeah, I would just raise it. You don't want to
know every man for himself.
Speaker 5 (13:28):
That's right from our KTRH top tax defenders twenty four

Speaker 2 (14:33):
Our iHeartRadio app is free and free.
Speaker 4 (14:38):
Never sounded so good about twenty two? Is our time
here on Houston's Morning News.
Speaker 23 (14:44):
A right.
Speaker 5 (14:44):
They are going to come in like a wrecking ball
at the Department of Government Efficiency. At least that's the hope.
And there are some people who are very fearful of
it in the swamp, and there are some people who
are really looking forward to it. One of the ones
looking forward to it, Senator Rand Paul.
Speaker 24 (15:02):
We've already forwarded them two thousand pages of waste that
could be cut. I'm all in and we'll do anything
I can to help them. I think we've never had
a president and a team like Elon Musk and Vivek
Ramaswami that have this degree of momentum, momentum incisiveness and frankly,
energy and drive to do it.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
That's what it takes. It's a monster, it's a leviathan.
But can you cut? Sure? You can cut.
Speaker 24 (15:28):
You can cut through attrition, you can cut through letting
people go. There are some departments that would be gone
and you would not know it. The Department of Education.
We've had it for forty years. The scores of our
students are worse. If it was gone tomorrow, it would
not affect education, although it might help education because you'd
have more local control of your schools. Can they do
(15:49):
it all through executive action? Maybe not, but pointing it
out and ridiculing it and then doing what they can
through executive action. I think we're going to draw a
lot of attention to it, and maybe some of my
colleagues all wake up.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
Let me ask you that.
Speaker 25 (16:01):
So just Department of Education, can the president, through executive
action eliminate it. I know Musk has talked about paying
people two years of severance and time to go find
their own job, still saving money.
Speaker 24 (16:13):
That's yet to be determined. The money will be allocated
by Congress. And so this debate went on in the
Nixon era when he impounded money the court said he
actually couldn't impound money if he was told to spend it.
The president had to spend it, so there will be
that debate. There's also another way you can get it spending.
It's called recision. So money is sent over the president says, well,
we don't need this much money, we don't need this
(16:34):
many people.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
We'd like to send some back.
Speaker 24 (16:37):
Has to be voted on by Congress, and that's a
recision package, but it gets special privilege and it only
is a simple majority. So if recision would work and
all the Republicans say together, you could cut billions, if
not trillions of dollars in spending. So everything they're talking
about doing the most practical way of doing it probably
(16:59):
includes Congress, but it's included to what's called a recision package,
which has privilege, meaning it'll get a vote and it
can be done by simple majority. I'm going to work
with their team and do everything I can to give
them advice on her to do it. On the regulatory front,
I think they can immediately begin writing regulations to undo regulations.
So I think there's a lot they can do by
executive action on deregulating us. And if they're real activists
(17:23):
on it. I think a lot could get done. We've
never had an administration, including the previous Trump administration. I
think that was this aggressive. I'm all for it, and
the sooner we get started, the better.
Speaker 5 (17:34):
Amen, brother, Amen. Okay, So the Department of Education is
the one they keep bringing up the most, right, So
why would that be? What would happen if they eliminated
the Department of Education, Well, the first thing you would
eliminate is the job of foury four hundred people, assuming
that you let everybody in the Department of Education go. Now,
maybe that wouldn't happen. Maybe you would absorb some of
(17:56):
those people into health and human services. If the federal
government is going to have any sort of role at
all in education, even if it's just a minimal role,
in observing the states and what they're doing, and prepared
to step in if they see anything going on at
the state level that seems to be discriminatory or whatever,
although I'm sure there's plenty of other departments they can
(18:17):
handle that. So you get rid of four four hundred employees,
you get rid of a budget that is about for
twenty twenty four, approximately two hundred and thirty eight billion dollars. Yes,
that's how much the Department of Education spends every year,
at least in this fiscal year, two hundred and thirty
(18:37):
eight billion dollars four thousand, four hundred employees. I think
that might be a good start. Five twenty six. Time
to take a look at your money. Jeff Bellinger, good morning.
Speaker 26 (18:45):
And Jimmy, good morning to you. Two of the major
stock averages did a Tuesday turnaround after starting out in
the red. The NASDAK and S and P five hundred
finished higher. The Dow fell three tenths percent yesterday. Futures
are looking good this morning.
Speaker 11 (19:00):
Now.
Speaker 26 (19:00):
Futures are up eighty three points. Walmart shares gained three
percent yesterday. The retailer posted strong third quarter results and
an upbeat forecast for the year. We'll hear from Target
and others today. Comcast has reportedly decided to spin off
its cable networks. Sources say the parent company will keep
the NBC broadcast network and the Peacock streaming operation, but
(19:22):
it plans to separate from cable channels like MSNBC, CNBC,
and USA, which have been losing viewers. And the founders
of Federal Jersey Mikes became one of the five hundred
richest people in the world. When he sold the chain
to Blackrock Jersey, Mikes was valued at eight billion dollars,
fifty years after Peter Cancrow bought his first sandwich shop.

Speaker 4 (21:22):
It is time for the news. Here's Cliff Saunders.
Speaker 6 (21:24):
Good morning, Jimmy, five thirty two on KTRH. Our top story,
Mister President.
Speaker 14 (21:29):
Are you reconsidering the nomination of Matt Gates?
Speaker 7 (21:33):
No?
Speaker 6 (21:33):
Donald Trump standing by his selection for US at Charity
General nominee met Gates. Despite the tantrums from the left,
Trump in Texas yesterday for the successful space X launch
of the Starship Rocket. Trump made three other additions to
his team yesterday. Linda McMahon is Education Secretary, Howard Lutnick
(21:53):
as the Treasury Secretary, and doctor Oz will head up
the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Service. Meantime, the silent
majority has become the proud majority over the last two weeks.
Speaker 28 (22:06):
Since Donald Trump's decisive election win. It's suddenly cool to
be a Trump supporter. Political analyst Anthony Russo says, Trump
voters finally feel liberated.
Speaker 12 (22:15):
You see the NFL Trump dances, you see people wearing
more Trump.
Speaker 29 (22:18):
Gear, and now we're seeing people go, you know what,
we're back. Shanity is here. So why don't we actually
just start to show our pride in the fact that
we believe that strong border is a good economy and
being able to have freedom of speech.
Speaker 28 (22:29):
Residents in some blue states say they've seen more Trump
yard signs go up after the election than before it. Coryolson,
who's Radio seven forty KTRH five thirty three. Now there
are fears of an expanded European war after Ukraine hit
Russia with American made long range missiles this week, and
hopes that Donald Trump can end the fighting.
Speaker 24 (22:48):
It's going to end in negotiations now the side can win.
And I think sending attacks farther into Russia, sure they
could be justified from a moral point of view that
Russia attacked them and they deserve it.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
I don't think it brings us any closer to.
Speaker 6 (23:02):
Peace, Kentucky Senator Ran Paul Elsewhere, the President elect is
expected to take a hardline approach to China, as opposed
to Joe Biden.
Speaker 14 (23:12):
It seems like there is no longer an appetite to
let our adversaries cyber attack us without doing anything to
hit back. The latest cyber attack targeting the Library of Congress,
the cyber breach exposing email communications between congressional offices and.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
The library staff.
Speaker 14 (23:28):
The hack described as a sophisticated foreign adversary espionage fixed.
Speaker 6 (23:32):
Fox's Hillary Vaughan reporting. The Senate Judiciary Subcommittee held a
hearing on the Chinese cyber threat yesterday, and yet another
hearing on Capitol Hill, female Administrator Dian Chriswell was grilled
about the actions of one executive who told workers to
avoid the homes with Trump signs. New Jersey Congressman Jeff
Van Drew says, Chriswell though left a lot of questions unanswered.
Speaker 30 (23:55):
What culture do they have over there that this administration
has in general that would allow them to think it
is okay, that would allow this individual to think that
is acceptable to actually skip by homes of people because
they have different political values.
Speaker 6 (24:11):
You'll hear from Chriswell coming up at six thirty. It's
now five point thirty four on KTRH Here at home.
Texas has a housing problem, with a shortage of over
three hundred thousand homes. James Kintaro with the Texas Public
Policy Foundation says it's because of bad policies from the left.
Speaker 31 (24:29):
Progressives have made an absolute mess of the housing market,
and it's up to the state to really get control
of these liberal local governments and all of their bad policy.
Otherwise future generations are going to be locked out of
the American dream.
Speaker 4 (24:44):
He says.
Speaker 6 (24:44):
The government has been the problem, not the solution. Members
of Congress are raising concerns about local volunteer fire departments
being in danger of getting shut down. That is because
of a proposed regulation from OSHA.
Speaker 32 (25:00):
Their presence enhances local resilience, foster's community spirit, and ensures
that even the most remote areas can access essential firefighting
and emergency services.
Speaker 6 (25:09):
New York Congressman Nick Lalatta warns that these new rules
would drastically increase costs and hamper recruitment. KHRH did reach
out to multiple Texas volunteer firefighter organizations, none of them
responded to Your Health Now. A new report says that
the number of people with diabetes around the world has
doubled in the last twenty years. CBS News medical contributor
(25:32):
doctor Saline Gowanger says many patients are also not getting
the proper treatment.
Speaker 33 (25:37):
So some of the symtimes you could have our blurry vision,
you might notice that you're drinking or peeing more, maybe
numbness and tingling in your fingers and your toes.
Speaker 6 (25:46):
Now, Euston has a higher rate of diabetes than the
national average twelve point five percent as opposed to ten
percent five point thirty six. Now, well, if you haven't
been car shopping in a while, and you haven't been
listening to KTRH for the life past four years, Inflation
and supply chain issues are going to smack you straight
in the face.
Speaker 34 (26:06):
And that's led to sticker shocking vehicle price increases, with
the average cost of a new car now at nearly
forty eight thousand dollars. Jerry Reynolds, the host of the
Car Pro Show, says, when it comes to sticker price, though,
the best time of year to shop.

He is talking about ice stream rank five thirty eight
is O the time pure on Houston's Borning News. A
right US foot and Drug Administration warning of a potentially
here we go again deadly allergic reaction following the expansion
of an ice cream recall that was initiated due to
an undeclared ingredients. On the FDA website yesterday, the informed
(27:47):
consumers that Wisconsin based Babcock Derry was voluntarily expanding its
recall of orange custard chocolate chip ice cream. That doesn't
even sound good, does it? Orange usted chocolate chip. I
don't know. I don't know how many of those are
going to sell anyway. Orange custard chocolate chip ice cream
may be labeled as chocolate peanut butter. The orange custard
(28:12):
chocolate chip product contains eggs, while the chocolate peanut butter
ice cream does not, which means that if you have
an egg allergen, you could get an allergic reaction. So
I thought to myself. You know, that doesn't seem like
something a lot of people get, you know, an allergy
to eggs. It's most prevalent, I guess in kids. Zero
(28:34):
point nine percent of all children born in the United
States are allergic to eggs. Only only about half of
that are allergic as adults to eggs, so it's not
a huge number of the population. But then again, you know,
kids eat a lot of ice cream, I would guess,
so that's something you want to be condencant of. The
(28:56):
other one is Costco has pulled baked goods in a
nationwide recall. They are recall call their buttercroissants sold at
the Warehouse Bakery nationwide due to potential contamination with metal fragments.
The metal fragments, of course, come from whatever factory facility
they're producing the buttercroissants in. It just seems like every
day now we have some sort of a recall, and
(29:17):
it kind of makes me wonder, is this an issue,
Especially when you have something like an ice cream that's mislabeled,
You've got the wrong label on the wrong ice cream.
That seems like that might be an operator error, that
might be human error involved with that versus machine fragments,
And I just kind of wonder are we having a
hard time finding Americans willing to work at an ice
(29:41):
cream factory?
Speaker 4 (29:41):
For example?
Speaker 5 (29:42):
Are we filling these jobs with people who perhaps don't
have English as a first language, or maybe even don't
have English as a language, therefore causing potential problems.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
I'm just curious.
Speaker 5 (29:52):

that's gonna get worse if you can jump on.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
Let's see which way should we go to get around that?
Speaker 3 (30:41):
Ninety yeah, ninety to the loop could get around that
or six ten cent? Your hazardous north or south is
looking good, Terry, as we're doing to twenty five, that's
a good option to to twenty five to the Golf

it's really a fine stretch of weather. No rain through

cooler Canadian air that's starting to make its way into
southeast Texas today, So it's going to be not as

warm as yesterday. Upper sixties this afternoon. At night, the

sixties to low seventies, so very similar today. It does
warm up a little bit over the weekend, a little
bit seventies Friday and Saturday, and then by Sunday it's like, hey,

Speaker 2 (34:36):
Here, promises kept US Radio seven forty KTRH by point
fifty two our time here in Houston's Morning News.
Speaker 5 (34:43):
Right, we got a lawyer, no guns or money this morning,
but we do have an attorney that's Dunn and Biles,
ready to talk about what happened yesterday in New York
where Judge marshawn. I think a lot of people thought
that the entire thing would end up getting dismissed yesterday.
That's not what happened, counselor No.
Speaker 36 (35:02):
No, Unfortunately, this is a now it goes on and
lives forever, I guess.
Speaker 5 (35:08):
So, So what we're talking about here is at least
what Alvin Bragg wants is basically, he wants a four
year delay while Trump serves out his term in office,
and then wants to reserve the right to sentence him
as soon as he's done being president.
Speaker 4 (35:23):
Am I understanding that correctly?
Speaker 36 (35:25):
All that's correct, But even if that happens, probably goes
on for years more because he's gonna have to decide
the immunity issue before he gets the sentencing, which probably
leads to an immediate appeal, and.
Speaker 4 (35:36):
Then all the way back up and back down.
Speaker 36 (35:39):
It would derectly go on forever.
Speaker 37 (35:41):
Which is why I think this case against will just
die some slow death.
Speaker 5 (35:45):
So that being the case, do you think this decision
was made to save face or does Alvin Bragg think
he's saving face by doing this?
Speaker 36 (35:54):
Yes, it seems suggest It suggests to me yet again
that this is a game that this way he doesn't
have to lose, and he can claim that the jury convicted.
For the next four years, he can continue to say, well,
the jury convicted, didn't and so it's still hanging out
there and he doesn't have to dismiss it or lose
(36:14):
right away, and evaentially probably he moves on, has some
other position and then it just it dies, it gets dismissed,
or what have you.
Speaker 10 (36:23):
Four years, five years.
Speaker 5 (36:24):
Six Now technically is he a convicted fella, because my
understanding is is that you aren't really convicted until your sentence.
Speaker 4 (36:33):
Is that true? Yeah, So this depends on look.
Speaker 38 (36:38):
I happen to agree, as a technical legal matter that
what he was was found guilty by a jury, but
he has not yet been convicted because the judge has
not entered a judgment, and therefore he is not yet convicted.
But in normal human conversations, this is a lawyer speak,
I would say he's not been convicted. But that's not
(36:58):
how normal people talk about this, right they would say, well,
Jery convicted him. I don't think that's really the right
way to say it, but that's how non lawyers would speak.
Speaker 5 (37:08):
Is there a statute of limitations? It seems it seems
like there ought to be some service statute of limitations
on how long you can take a case like this
and drag it out.
Speaker 36 (37:17):
Well, no, there's a statute of limitations on how long
you can wait until you proceed, until you initiate the case.
Speaker 37 (37:25):
But but now as to how long this takes. And
as I understand it, I think Trump has agreed to
this day as well, because of course it makes sense
from his perspective too. I mean, in the day, he
needs to get to being president and they not have
this out there, and he needs to worry about the
country and not have to worry about these things. And
at the end of the day, this case prevently just
(37:47):
dies a slow death and goes away, and then and
he can move on and leave this country.
Speaker 5 (37:52):
Now, from a practical standpoint, could could Alvin Braggan. The
judges have decided that they were going to go ahead
and sentence him, and then let this thing go to
the Supreme Court, let them decide whether or not he
actually could be sentenced.
Speaker 36 (38:04):
Yes, they could have done it.
Speaker 37 (38:06):
They could have gone out back in October or I
think it was October where it was supposed to have
been decided before he pushed that off. They could have
done it. I think for good reasons. Well I don't
know about their reasons. But thankfully it didn't. I mean,
the judge said he didn't want anybody.
Speaker 36 (38:22):
Thinking it was election interference, and it probably would have
been to have done that. It wouldn't have been right
to do it, but they could have WHI they would
have needed to directly. The way that would have worked
is they should have decided the immunity issue and then
Trump should have been entitled to take an immediate peal.
How that decided didn't come back down and do the sentencing.
Speaker 37 (38:41):
But the way he once had it set up where
it was the next day of two days after the
decision on immunity, it seemed like the judge was going
to try to get to the punishment phase before Trump
could get his appeal going.
Speaker 36 (38:54):
But but I don't know.

Speaker 8 (42:12):
But what exactly does that mean.
Speaker 39 (42:14):
It's essentially a way to bypass a questionable Senate vote
as they're out of session because.
Speaker 10 (42:19):
The Senate is in recess and the constitution allows the
presidents to make a temporary appointment to a position. That
person would then become the acting position.

O'd wait no time here on Houston's Morning News. So
doctor Oz huh okay, it would appear that Prisident Trump
is nominating doctor Memet Oz to be the CMS Administrator.
Now you're probably wondering what that is CMS administrator, that
that's the person who is in charge of running Medicare
(46:56):
and Medicaid. So I guess technically he would be in
charge of making sure that you are getting your Medicare
and Medicaid benefits. And you know, I would guess that's
a pretty tough job when you get right down to it,
especially keeping care of healthcare cost. I'm not sure how
many people are employed in Medicare and Medicaid, probably a
huge number. But here is Peter Doucey on box reacting
(47:19):
to the doctor Oz news and a couple of other
cabinet appointments from yesterday.
Speaker 43 (47:23):
A new nomination from the President elect. He wants doctor
Memmet Oz to be the CMS administrator. He is saying
in a statement the President elect that doctor Oz will
work closely with Robert F. Kennedy Junior to take on
the illness industrial Complex and all the horrible chronic diseases
(47:43):
left in its wake. We know Dodd Oz spends a
good amount of time here in Palm Beach close to

Elon Musk, But today he has got the President elect

not only to space, but simply by lifting off the ground.
Speaker 4 (48:11):
Good luck to.
Speaker 43 (48:12):
Elon Musk and the great patriots involved in this incredible project.
Something else that happened while Trump Forrest one was in
the air. The President elect nominated Howard Lutnick to lead
the Commerce Department. He says, in part, he will lead
our tariff and trade agenda, with additional direct responsibility for
the Office of the United States Trade Representative. This was
(48:33):
Lutnick talking tariffs at Madison Square Garden last month.
Speaker 4 (48:36):
One hundred and twenty five years ago. We had no

Speaker 2 (48:47):
And all we had was tariff's all we had with tariffs,
and we had so much money.
Speaker 4 (48:58):
So much money.
Speaker 5 (49:00):
So obviously he's the tariff guy. Obviously he doesn't care
for the federal income tax. This is our kind of guy.
Maybe sounds like it anyway. I don't see the federal
income tax going anywhere, unfortunately, But that tells you how
much money potentially there is to be made from teriffs.
We used to run this country on tariff's. Of course,
we didn't have the bloated federal government that we now have.
(49:21):
Six eleven time for traffic and weather together, we're check
out the drive again. What do you about their earliers going?
You know, we got big hard hat problems here. Jimmy,
this is outbound two twenty five. This turns out to
be a vehicle fire. Where are they plotting this at?
They're calling it before Center Street. Okay, it's eastbound outbound,
not inbound two right lanes.
Speaker 3 (49:39):
I hope everybody's okay. I see all the lights in
the craziness here sid from Sweeney. We're gonna get to
you shortly, but outbound. I've got to slow down now
from red Bluff the inbounds, I understand the revernecking here,
big feeler, you seeing this.
Speaker 4 (49:52):
My westbound overpass of East Groave.
Speaker 19 (49:56):
Gotta scrunch up lights up ahead?
Speaker 4 (49:58):
All right, that's what that is.
Speaker 3 (49:59):
It's back to now from red Bluff going that way
loose twenty minutes east freeway. This is a two headed
monster inbound right at Gilhorn. Let's call that before McCarty
two left lanes.
Speaker 4 (50:08):
It's a wreck.
Speaker 3 (50:09):
We're smashed up on the east Freeway from Federal. It's
also connected like your nee bone to the backups from ninety.
You've got those backups about twelve extra minutes inbound here.
See and when I'm Secretary, I would pave over Old
Beaumont Highway there, which is McCarty.
Speaker 4 (50:24):
I've got sid from Sweeney.
Speaker 2 (50:25):
Dude, good guy, Mike Dailey Road or by twenty one

really truly fall weather here for the next few days.
Speaker 21 (50:51):
Yes, today and tomorrow, you will definitely notice the cooler weather,
the dryer era as well. We'll start to warm up
over the weekend very slowly. But the best part about
the forecast is we're Sunday and dry through Sunday. So
whatever your plans are, the weather is not an issue.
Upper sixties today, upper sixties to low seventies, tomorrow, load

Speaker 5 (51:34):
All right, so we have not had any hearings yet
for President Trump's appointments. Of course, I guess that doesn't
really take place until he's officially sworn in as President
of the United States. The question becomes how easy or
hard are some of these going to be, especially somebody
like you know, Matt Gates, for example. Is that something
that they may try to do as a recess appointment
(51:56):
if they can't get it done while the Sunday doesn't session.
We'll talk to Gladavidiock next about what recess appointments are
and how they work. Get a little history lesson here first, though,
Let's do a little traffic and weather together, starting with
you skuy Mike.
Speaker 4 (52:10):
All right, two twenty five outbound. That's a vehicle fire.
Speaker 3 (52:12):
This is two lanes blocked at Center Street, outbound, not inbound.
Big smush from Richie going that way clear East Freeway,
Gilhorn that was inbound just past the bud Plant.

Speaker 5 (53:43):
Sex twenty three is our time here in Houston's morning news.
All right, So we have cabinet appointments being made daily.
We've had quite a few. Some of them are considered shoeins.
Some of them are considered controversial or maybe difficult or
more difficult. Glad to video joined this political sultant. How
hard do you think it's going to be for Matt
Gates at his Senate hearings?
Speaker 4 (54:04):
What do you think?
Speaker 10 (54:06):
I think it's going to be hugely difficult for Matt
Gates to gain successful confirmation simply because a lot of
senators on both sides of you all have expressed some
reservations and some concerns that said President Trump goes into
this with a huge amount of leverage and a huge
amount of political capital, and he can make life extraordinarily
(54:26):
difficult for both members, both sides of the Senate, and
it's to their advantage to be on his good terms
to be able to pass legislation that they know needs
to get passed.
Speaker 5 (54:37):
Okay, all right, so the more difficult ones, you know,
they keep talking about recess appointments. Explain to us, if
you would, lad, how a recess appointment works. I know
it's when the Senate is not in session, but how
does it work as far as being able to appoint
somebody when the Senate is not there to confirm somebody.
Speaker 10 (54:56):
Yeah, Reciss appointments are a mechanism that put in place
by you know, through the Constitution, which allows president to
make temporary appointments without Senate confirmation when the Senate is
in recess. So if a need arises, that the president
has the ability to not have to wait for Senate confirmation.
And you know, this was developed in a time when
(55:20):
Congress met less frequently, you know, when Congress would be
out of office and back in the district for a
much longer period of time, and recent appointments. Have both
parties have used it. I mean, it's not something that's uncommon.
President Bush did a ton of them. Bill Clinton, Obama
did a lot of them. But it changed in twenty
(55:42):
fourteen when the Supreme Court ruled against Obama and they
called multiple of his Reese's appointments unconstitutional, and so they
changed the way it functions that it can only take
place when a resays last ten days or longer, and
so it makes it much more tricky to be able
to implement those, uh constitutional, those recess appointments that the
(56:05):
president needs to fill those vacancy.
Speaker 5 (56:08):
Okay, So the only the only way you could technically
get that through is if it's a recess of ten
days or more. And I guess if you have the
cooperation of the Senate majority leader and you have controlled
the Senate and the Republican Party does you could take
a recess for more than ten days to allow that
to happen, right.
Speaker 19 (56:25):
You can?
Speaker 10 (56:25):
I mean during during his first term and President Trump
got very frustrated because there were a huge delays in
confirming his nominees, and he advocated for the use of
recess appointments, and he certainly talked about it during his campaign,
and he's he's asked Senators Uh to deeply consider using
(56:46):
this policy and being open to it because he knows
that there will be.
Speaker 4 (56:49):
Opposition to his his.
Speaker 10 (56:51):
Make America Great agenda by Democrats in Congress. I mean,
if you consider the fact that in this first term,
it's a one hundred and fifteen days to confirm nominees,
and that's a huge amount of time for an office
to be vacant when the needs of the American people
are our first and foremost. And so what the Senate
(57:12):
is needing to do now is is their role in
vetting nominees not only ensures the checks on making sure
that these are quality people and that they're suited for
the task, but it makes it possible for them to
continue doing the work that the American people need.
Speaker 29 (57:27):
Them to do.
Speaker 5 (57:28):
Nic Sir, thanks us always appreciate it. Glad to VIDI,

That is House Speaker Mike Johnson yesterday, as the President elect,
Donald Trump told a reporter in Texas no when asked
if he was reconsidering Matt Gates's nomination for Attorney General.
Trump was at the SpaceX Starship Tesla lunch yesterday.
Speaker 8 (01:00:01):
There were three more.
Speaker 6 (01:00:02):
Additions to his cabinet as well as Linda McMahon was
named Education Secretary, Howard Lutnik will run Treasury, and doctor
Oz is going to head up the Center for Medicare
and Medicaid Services. After eight years of feeling like they
had to stay in the stay silent, rather, Trump supporters
are having their day in the sun. Since Trump's selection victory,
(01:00:25):
More athlete, celebrities and everyday Americans are revealing their support
for the President elect.
Speaker 29 (01:00:31):
All of a sudden, people feel very comfortable. All right,
I can be proud to speak out. No longer am
I the silent majority? Where the majority, and we're actually
feeling pretty good about it. Honestly, I don't think the
country has felt quite like it does right now in
a long time, outside of the fringe lapsos that are
stilf breaking out.
Speaker 6 (01:00:46):
Political analyst Anthony Russo says it's notable that This Trump
support also crosses race and gender lines, which further destroys
the left's pre election narrative. Six point thirty three now

the new president elect to continue funding the war against Russia.
Speaker 4 (01:01:06):

Of course, anyway, we will, we will stay, we will fight.
Speaker 3 (01:01:14):
We have our production, but it's not enough to prevail,
and I think it's not enough to survive.
Speaker 6 (01:01:20):
Zelensky on Fox Ukraine fired the first of the American
long range missiles that Joe Biden approved this week at
targets inside Russia. On Capitol Hill, FEMA administrator Dan Criswell
faced the music after an employee was fired for telling
other relief workers to ignore homes with Trump signs.
Speaker 22 (01:01:40):
I do not believe that this employee's actions are indicative
of any widespread cultural problems at FEMA. FEMA, however, has
taken appropriate action to ensure that this matter is fully investigated.
Speaker 6 (01:01:54):
But Republicans say Chriswell left a lot of questions unanswered.
Six point thirty four now on Kate. One of the
many consequences from the last four years under Joe Biden
and Kamala Harris, housing shortage has grown even here in Texas.
Speaker 11 (01:02:09):
But James Quintaro with the Texas Public Policy Foundation says
lawmakers can help.
Speaker 31 (01:02:16):
It's critical that the Texas legislature takes steps to get
government out of the way and allow free market forces
to bring homes online quickly and cheaply.
Speaker 4 (01:02:26):
And he says there's more.
Speaker 31 (01:02:29):
We need the legislature to lower the voter approval tax
rate from its current three and a half percent limit
down to zero.
Speaker 11 (01:02:37):
Texas currently has a shortage of over three hundred thousand homes.

Speaker 6 (01:02:45):
Another consequence of federal regulation OSHA pushing increased training and
requirements that set stricter limits on volunteer firefighters and their equipment.
Speaker 17 (01:02:55):
Lawmakers are warning that this could destroy those volunteer fire departments.
Speaker 32 (01:03:00):
Pos rule will devastate our nation's volunteer fire departments, decreasing
public safety and increasing costs.
Speaker 17 (01:03:06):
That's New York Congressman Nick Lolota on Capitol Hill warning
that these volunteer fire departments must be protected.
Speaker 32 (01:03:12):
Safety must be a top priority. But I am increasingly
concerned that these new safety standards will force small and
volunteer fire departments to shutter.
Speaker 17 (01:03:20):
As of twenty twenty three, seventy six percent of Texas
was covered by volunteer firefighters, meaning this new rule could
have devastating impacts on our emergency preparedness. Ethan Buchannan News

Looking at the economy, the cost of new cars continues
to climb. It's now up to nearly forty eight grand.
But unlike three years ago, there's plenty of stock to
choose from unless you're shopping Toyota or Lexis.
Speaker 35 (01:03:44):
Everybody else is actually in the opposite scenario.
Speaker 4 (01:03:47):
They're overstocked.
Speaker 35 (01:03:50):
Toyota and Lexis continue to have some problems, and it's
not anything that anybody can solve. It's just there's more
demand for their vehicles. There is supply.
Speaker 6 (01:04:01):
The car proch Shearry Reynolds says that from now until

A new report says diabetes cases worldwide have doubled in

the biggest factors. CBS Medical contributor doctor Solne Gwander says,
(01:04:23):
there really are no early warning signs.
Speaker 33 (01:04:25):
This is why it's important to be going to see
your primary care provider on a regular basis right now.
Speaker 6 (01:04:32):
Texas currently has two and a half million adults with diabetes.
One hundred and thirty five thousand Texans are diagnosed every year.
Coming up now on six thirty seven, convicted killer Susan

first parole hearing since the nineteen ninety four murders of
her two young sons.
Speaker 41 (01:04:52):

was convicted and sentenced to life in prison with a
possibility of parole in thirty years. Smith will reportedly attend
the hearing via video. Her ex husband, the victim's father, David,
will also be an attendance and expected to oppose her release.

Very latest on your way to work. This is Houston's
Morning News with Jimmy Barrett. I don't think Lenna Hildago's
fully grown yet. I think she is the very immature.
Speaker 5 (01:05:49):
And aside from being very immature, there's plenty of other
things we could say that we don't care about when
it comes to Lend Hildago. But let's let's focus on
the maturity for a moment. What what would Lena Hildago
gain by going after kim Ogg and basically accusing her
of charging somebody in this case, Barbie Robinson, former executive
(01:06:11):
director of the Harris County Public Health Department who got
fired back in August. You know what, what does she
gain by making some sort of claim about this woman's
innocence and that kim Ogg is just going after her
as some sort of reprisal against her. Lena Hildago, Well,
(01:06:33):
kim Ogg was having none of that. Here's a little
bit about what she had to say to press conference
the other day.
Speaker 18 (01:06:37):
Should take when it comes to a series of treats
from the county Judge Cadago, saying that this is an attacks.
Speaker 7 (01:06:46):
We're not in high school, and our cases aren't based
on opinions.
Speaker 20 (01:06:50):
They are based on evidence.
Speaker 7 (01:06:52):
The evidence reflects actions taken by government officials which violate
the law.
Speaker 20 (01:06:59):
And so so.
Speaker 7 (01:07:01):
The opinions of politically elected individuals are irrelevant to the
criminal process.
Speaker 4 (01:07:10):
There you go.
Speaker 5 (01:07:11):
Thank you for the mature statement, Kim Ogg from a
very rebuttal for a very immature Harris County judge. She
does sound like she's in high school, doesn't she. She
whinds all the time, and you know she has this
whiny little voice, and she's lucky that she hasn't been
charged with anything herself. I really would have thought that
(01:07:32):
maybe something would be coming with that. But looks like
she's getting off Scott Free six forty time for traffic

and eventually it'll be connected with backups like your neebone

from Scott Street East Freeway out of the frying pan
(01:08:21):
into the inbound backup at Crest there's a stall. Now,
we cleared the wreck at McCarty. It's still smudged up
after Federal Road. Lose about ten minutes this way, but
to twenty five inbound, that's a good alternate inbound outbound,
it's not. We just cleared the thing at Center Street.

Yeah, it's really going to be a big drop in temperature,
and not only today but tomorrow on the cooler side,
and then we'll start to warm back up as you
would expect. The best part about the forecasts to me
is you can get outside with no worries. In fact,
this is the best kind of weather to be outside.

Of course, she denies that that was part of what
the status quo for the department was, but she doesn't
(01:12:51):
do a very good job of answering the questions.
Speaker 23 (01:12:53):
Administrator chris Well is Miss Washington line to us.
Speaker 20 (01:12:58):
Miss Washington has.
Speaker 23 (01:13:01):
She said it's common practice, You said it's reprehensible and isolated.
Both statements can't be true. So someone's not giving us
the facts, And I'm kind of trying to figure out
who's not telling the truth.
Speaker 22 (01:13:12):
The actions that Miss Washington took were unacceptable, Well.
Speaker 4 (01:13:18):
You had another employee.
Speaker 23 (01:13:19):
Now they've remained anonymous, but I think one of my
colleagues pointed this out earlier. FEMA official who spoke on
conditioning anonymity said Miss Washington likely received quote very clear
guidance from her supervisors.
Speaker 4 (01:13:30):
Is that not act? Is that person lying too?
Speaker 22 (01:13:31):
I have not received any evidence outside of the screenshot
that Miss Washington directly.
Speaker 23 (01:13:38):
Those two people are wrong. They're not telling the truth too.
Speaker 20 (01:13:40):
We are currently investigating.
Speaker 4 (01:13:42):
That's what you said.
Speaker 23 (01:13:43):
You said, this is isolated, reprehensible. Hasn't happened. This is
the only time. And they're saying, nope, nope, nope, it's commonplace.
Speaker 22 (01:13:50):
I am saying that FEMA's mission is to help all people.
Speaker 4 (01:13:53):
Let's look at LA.
Speaker 23 (01:13:54):
Maybe the best evidence we have is the actual screenshot,
and you put the screenshot up on the on the screen.
Speaker 4 (01:13:59):
Let's look at what the tech message said.
Speaker 23 (01:14:01):
The text message said, implement best practices like this is
the best practices.
Speaker 4 (01:14:07):
We're gonna implement them.
Speaker 23 (01:14:08):
And they talk about making sure you're going in pairs,
are with more than one person, avoid the Trump homes,
drink your water, take your towel, coconut waters, so stay hydrated,
walk with someone else, and don't go to the Trump home.
Speaker 4 (01:14:22):
It seems pretty.
Speaker 23 (01:14:23):
Common in matter of fact, in the actual evidence. We
do have the text message itself, but you're still saying Ms.
Washington and this other person aren't telling the truth.
Speaker 22 (01:14:35):
When I received this text message, it was not in
accordance with the way we conduct business at FEMA, and
I directed even.
Speaker 23 (01:14:42):
Though it's the best practices, even though it said stay hydrated,
which everyone would agree with, even though it said go
in pairs, which everyone would agree with, even though it
said bring a towel, make sure you're cover up me,
even said coconut waters are the best way to say.
Even though it said all these practical things, the part
about avoiding the Trump homes that's not a best practice,
that's not commonplace.
Speaker 4 (01:14:58):
Is that what you're saying?
Speaker 20 (01:14:59):
That is nowhere in our policy?
Speaker 22 (01:15:01):
And I can't speak I'm not policy mind what Miss
Washington did.
Speaker 4 (01:15:05):
But it was okay.
Speaker 23 (01:15:06):
Now in her supervisors, it's mister Hershey, have you talked
to him and to find out if he knew this
was happening.
Speaker 22 (01:15:13):
I understand that he was in hershain of command. And
this is under investigation.
Speaker 5 (01:15:17):
Uh just a self familiar does this does not sound
exactly like the Q and A that we had with
the head of the Secret Service who ended up getting
shown the door? Can we show this this woman out
the same door that we showed the Secret Service had up?
Can we can we just go ahead and do that now?
Is it not obvious? What's going on here?
Speaker 30 (01:15:38):
All?
Speaker 4 (01:15:38):

Beneficiary, allegedly a bid rigging scheme out of the lawfair
against Donald Trump. As Manhattan Judge Wan Mrshawn agrees to
postpone sentencing in the Business Front conviction until twenty twenty nine.
Speaker 9 (01:19:22):
Consider the implications of that for an American president. It
would mean a local judge and a local prosecutor. They
have basically the president on a leash.
Speaker 6 (01:19:32):
Legal analyst Jonathan Turley on Fox, the President elect made
more additions to his cabinet, nominating Howard Lutnik for Commerce.
Secretary Doctor mem and Oz will lead the Center for
Medicare and Medicaid Services. Linda McMahon will be the Secretary
of Education. Now we keep hearing about the possibility of
recess appointments for this cabinet, but what exactly are those
(01:19:55):
political strategists fled. Davidick says it's a way to bypass
a full Senate vote, and while the GOP holds control,
the unity of the party is going to be critical.
Speaker 10 (01:20:05):
Obviously, the Democrats are going to strongly oppose any adjournment
motions that would enable recess appointments, and if Republican senators
are not unified in maintaining the process, that could cause
some issues down the road.
Speaker 6 (01:20:19):
Well, I have more on Trump's selections at seven thirty.
Another Trump nominee, South Dakota Governor Christy Noam is set
to run the DHS, But not every conservative is on board.
Speaker 11 (01:20:30):
And that would include John Davidson, senior editor at The Federalist,
who says it's time to do away with the DHS.
Speaker 12 (01:20:37):
It really has gotten out of control if they're really
about surveilling and spying on and censoring American citizens.
Speaker 11 (01:20:43):
And Davidson is also not a big fan of Christineome.
Speaker 12 (01:20:47):
She's been on the wrong side of some really key
issues that are important to Trump voters, liking League of Immigration, She's.
Speaker 4 (01:20:53):
The wrong person for this pick.
Speaker 12 (01:20:54):

We're going to be putting more booies into the Rial

state of Texas.
Speaker 6 (01:21:22):
The governor told ktrh is Sean Hannity last night. Those
booyes will be deployed beginning to date, and the state's
General Land Office is offering the President elect a fourteen
hundred acre ranch in Starr County. It's assigned to build
detention centers for his deportation program. The prosecution rested its
case in the trial of the illegal alien charge with
(01:21:44):
killing lacln Riley in Georgia. We also found out yesterday
the exact cause of her death.
Speaker 14 (01:21:50):
Her cause of death is to combined the facts of
bump forth head trauma and assexia.
Speaker 20 (01:21:54):
What is hermander of the homicide?
Speaker 6 (01:21:57):
Ose Bara, the illegal alien charged with the murder is
reportedly a member of the violent gang trend Dear Ragua,
which is now apparently operating in sixteen states and Washington

final vote takes place on Friday. Also at Austin, political
analyst Luke Missia says House Democrats may be the ones
who ultimately choose Date Feeling's replacement, possibly joining Republicans to
select a so called moderate as the next speaker.
Speaker 16 (01:22:44):
They want to deliver their votes to somebody else. Let's
call this person Dad two point zero, and that could
be Dustin Burroughs or Greg Bonnen or Brad Buckley.
Speaker 6 (01:22:54):
As of now, Feeling is being challenged by one Republican
and two Democrats. The new texts, and a stock exchange
opens in Dallas next year, which means you can expect
even more economic growth in the lone Star state.
Speaker 17 (01:23:07):
This is just the logical next step in Texas becoming
a major economic.
Speaker 18 (01:23:10):
Hub with all the growth we're having in Texas right now.
It is something that will allow companies to have a
more efficient way to enter the public markets to access
public money.
Speaker 17 (01:23:18):
Economic researcher Ray Perry Mental KTRH. This could be especially
helpful to new companies in Texas.
Speaker 18 (01:23:24):
The main thing it's going to do is allow younger companies,
emerging companies to have a place they can come in
order to get started in the financial markets and achieve
their next levels of success.
Speaker 17 (01:23:33):
Perriman says this won't cause any immediate major changes, but

Yeah, y'all like wine. I'm a subby un blogman myself.
I'm not sure about this one. I guess I'd be
willing to maybe try it, but at first glance, it
doesn't I if you, I mean, if you're a wine connoisseur,
this is not something you're gonna have in your wine cellar,
that's for sure. Pizza Huts is hoping to sell some
(01:25:01):
wine with their pizza, and well, pizza and wine that
would go together, right, But this wine supposedly tastes a
lot like pizza. Instead of being made from grapes, it's
made from tomatoes. Never heard of such a thing. A
tomato a tomato wine? Huh, how do they describe it?
(01:25:27):
We need like a wine? Connoisseur's description Ah Pizza says
it's made from ripe, juicy tomatoes and infused with natural basil.
Made in partnership with Irvines just beyond Paradise Winery, a
family owned vineyard in Kansas. Well, there you go. It's
a Kansas wine. It's a fine Kansas wine. Everybody knows
(01:25:47):
what Kansas means to wine anyway. The chain added it
offers an aromatic blend of fresh herbs and spices, with

All Right, we won't be doing the Wall Street Shuffle,
but we might be doing the Texas two step up
in Dallas for the Texas Stock Exchange. Ray Perriman joins,
us president of the Paaraman Group. Welcome to the show, sir.
How soon before the Texas Stock Exchange becomes a reality?
Speaker 18 (01:30:47):
Well, I think their plan is to have it in
place by late next year or early twenty twenty six.
That the process is well underway, a lot of the
SEC approvals have been attained, a lot of the major
financial houses have come into to be a part of it,
so it should be happening in the relatively near future.
Speaker 5 (01:31:01):
I know the black Rock is involved, whether that that
name kind of scares a few folks, but but.
Speaker 18 (01:31:06):
What Yeah, but it's also for interest Charles Schwab that
there's a lot, there's a lot of them involved right now.
Speaker 5 (01:31:11):
Okay, what why Texas? What and how does this change
Texas culture to have something like this going on here?
Speaker 18 (01:31:18):
Well, I don't think it'll change Texas culture a lot. Basically,
the stocks are now bought and sold almost entirely by
by electronically. I mean, you could be doing it right
now while we're talking, and uh and it we weren't
just fine, and so there's no need to have it
all centralized at one place like there was.
Speaker 4 (01:31:34):
At one point in our history.
Speaker 18 (01:31:36):
And Texas is obviously a fast growing state, the sun
Belts fast growing region. Dallas has been the financial center
of that area for a long time, and in particular,
we have a lot of companies in Texas that that
are ready to go public or are ready to access
the financial markets in some way, and Texas can be
a little more efficient in New York and doing this,
and so it's something that I think makes a lot
(01:31:56):
of sense to happen. It's it's been talked about for
a long time and glad to see them finally put
in the trigger. Texas is already second to New York
in investment, banking, employment, and that sort of thing. And
over the past twenty years, New York's gone by sixteen
percent in Texas has grown by one hundred and eleven.
So we're gaining on them, and I think it's the
right time to do something like this.
Speaker 5 (01:32:16):
Ray, Do you think that potentially brings even more company
headquarters here to Texas?
Speaker 4 (01:32:21):
It's possible.
Speaker 18 (01:32:22):
I mean, that's probably not the most likely scenario, because again,
people from everywhere can be a part of it and
that sort of thing. What I think it really does, though,
is help bring more of their financial activity to Texas
and also helps companies in Texas to access.
Speaker 4 (01:32:36):
Public markets more, to have more access.
Speaker 18 (01:32:38):
To stock money, equity money, debt money, that sort of
thing to grow themselves. So Texas has already has more
Fortune five hundred companies than anybody else, and you can
be a Fortune five hundred company and locate wherever you
want to, and I think we'll continue to be successful
in that. But this is one more thing in the
arsenal we will have. But I don't think it will
be the tipping point for too many companies.
Speaker 5 (01:32:59):
Okay, this fascinations You mean, what what sort of synergy,
if you will, would the Texas Stock Exchange have with
Wall Street? Would would it be completely separate, would it
have would it would have any synergy between those two.
Speaker 18 (01:33:13):
Well, basically they would probably compete to some extent for
new for new location or new locations, new listings, that
type of thing. But but yeah, absolutely there there would
be some synergy with that because again, companies could potentially
in the early days probably start out on the Texas
Exchange and then maybe grow up, so to speak to
Wall Street, much like a lot of NASDAQ stocks grow
(01:33:34):
up to the New York Stock Exchange.
Speaker 4 (01:33:36):
But I think over.
Speaker 18 (01:33:36):
Time this one will grow and and you may see
it actually flow in the other direction. And some of
the companies on Nasdaq may decide as they move to
the next step that Texas is a better place. Texas
can do it most of the regulations federal and the
SEC on stocks and bonds, but the part of it
that is states Texas can do it much more efficiently
at a lower cost. And and I think, so there's
a lot of advantages I think to doing it here, but.
Speaker 4 (01:33:58):
I think, you know, there'll be a little bit of competent
d and littleit of synergy taking place there.

Target's comparable store sales barely ticked higher in the latest quarter,

say the wireless provider intercepted a network breach and removed
the intruders from its systems before they could do major damage.
T Mobile reportedly detected the breach before the hackers could

Speaker 8 (01:36:51):
Mister President, are.
Speaker 25 (01:36:52):
You reconsidering the nomination of Matt Gates?
Speaker 6 (01:36:55):
No, that was Donald Trump standing by his man, Matt Gates,
the nominee for US Attorney General, despite the lefts complaining.
Trump was in Texas yesterday for the successful test launch
of the SpaceX Starship rocket. Trump also made three more
high profile additions to the team yesterday. Linda McMahon nominated
to be Education Secretary. Howard Lutnik will run the Treasury
(01:37:18):
Department in doctor Oz will head up CMS. The Silent Majority, Well,
they've become the proud majority since November fifth.
Speaker 28 (01:37:27):
Since Donald Trump's decisive election win, it's suddenly cool to
be a Trump supporter. Political analyst Anthony Russo says Trump
voters finally feel liberated.
Speaker 12 (01:37:36):
You see the NFL Trump dances, you see people wearing
more Trump gear, and now.
Speaker 29 (01:37:40):
We're seeing people go, you know what, we're back. Shanity

show our pride in the fact that we believe that
strong board is a good economy and being able to

There are fears of an expanded European war after Ukraine
hit Russia with American made long range missiles this week,
and hopes that President elect Trump can end the fighting.
Speaker 24 (01:38:13):
It's going to end in negotiations now that side can win.
And I think sending attacks farther into Russia, sure, they
could be justified from a moral point of view that
Russia attacked them and they deserve it, But at the
same time, I don't think it brings us any closer
to peace.
Speaker 6 (01:38:27):
Kentucky Senator Rand Paul Meantime, the president elect is expected
to take a harder line approach to China than Joe

Speaker 14 (01:38:35):

FEMA Administrator Dian Criswell was grilled about one FEMA executive
who told workers to skip hurricane victims that at Trump
signs in their yard. Jersey Congressman Jeff Andrews said Criswell
(01:39:19):
left many questions unanswered.
Speaker 30 (01:39:22):
What culture do they have over there that this administration
has in general that would allow them to think it
is okay, that would allow this individual to think that
it's acceptable to actually skip by homes of people because
they have different political values.
Speaker 6 (01:39:38):
Chriswell says she'll request an Inspector General's investigation into the
incident coming up now on seven thirty five, and here
at home. Texas has a housing problem with a shortage
of over three hundred thousand homes, but James or rather
James Cantaro with the Texas Public Policy Foundation says it's
due to bad policies from the left.
Speaker 31 (01:40:01):
Progressives have made an absolute mess of the housing market,
and it's up to the state to really get control
of these liberal local governments and all of their bad
policy otherwise future generations are going to be locked out
of the American dream.
Speaker 6 (01:40:15):
He says, government has been the problem, not the solution.
Members of Congress are raising alarms about local volunteer fire
departments in that they're in danger of being shut down
thanks to overregulation from OSHA.
Speaker 32 (01:40:30):
Their presence enhances local resilience, foster's community spirit, and ensures
that even the most remote areas can access essential firefighting
and emergency services.
Speaker 6 (01:40:40):
New York Republican Nick Lolta warns that these new rules
will drastically increase costs. They'll also hurt recruitment, and we
did reach out by the way to multiple Texas volunteer

numbness and tingling in your fingers and your toes.
Speaker 6 (01:41:19):

twelve and a half percent as opposed to ten percent.
Our news time is now seven thirty six. If you
haven't been car shopping in a while, inflation and supply
chain issues are going to hit you in the face.
Speaker 34 (01:41:35):
And that's led to sticker shocking vehicle price increases, with
the average cost of a new car now at nearly
forty eight thousand dollars. Jerry Reynolds, the host of the
Current Pro Show, says, when it comes to sticker price, though,
the best time of year to shop is currently and.
Speaker 35 (01:41:51):
They'll come down the most at this time of year,
when all the manufacturers are pushing for their year end numbers.
They upped the incentives that lowers the price, and there

Speaker 4 (01:42:51):
Seven thirty. At our time.
Speaker 5 (01:42:52):
Here in Houston's boring news, we'll speak of the Texas
Texas border, Star County, which I'm still shaking my head
over how the election turned out in Star County, which
is voted Republican for the first.
Speaker 4 (01:43:04):
Time in one hundred and fifty years. Some crazy thing.
Speaker 5 (01:43:06):
Anyway, here's another crazy story out of Star County. Evidently
the Texas General Land Office is offering President elect Trump
a fourteen hundred acre Star County ranch as a site
to build detention centers for his promised mass deportations. Yep,
we won in on the mass deportations. Of course, the
(01:43:27):
first question is how did we come to own a
fourteen hundred acre ranch. Evidently what happened was is that
we wanted to build Texas Texas border wall across that
branch land, but we couldn't get any cooperation from the
land owner. So they finally managed to buy the land
from him so they could go ahead and do that.
(01:43:47):
But they see this also as an opportunity to help
out the federal government with mass deportation. Land Commissioner Don
Buckingham said yesterday in a letter office is fully prepared
to execute an agreement with any federal agency involved in
deporting individuals from the country to quote allow a facility
(01:44:08):
to be built for the processing, detention, and coordination of
the largest deportation of boling criminals in the nation's history. Wow.
So it would be they would, I guess, donate the land,
perhaps temporarily to the federal government, then they could build
whatever facility they needed to build there. In order to
be able to house the people who are being deported
(01:44:30):
until they can be interesting. Seven forty Time for traffic
and whether together not handyse guy mine waited right now.
Speaker 3 (01:44:39):
Well, when I'm in the cabinet of Secretary of Transportation,
I am putting a jackhammer to those bicycle lanes on
Eleventh Street. You know what, somebody tell me if they're
doing that on Durham and Shepherd, we had roadworks south

the tip line seven one three two one two tips.
I'll put pickup truck lanes and work truck lanes. Let's
(01:44:59):
do six to ten north. That's getting ugly both ways.
Now we're loopy at forty five. The squeeze down just
two lanes. If you're eastbound, you're packed from TC Jesture
right over the Bayou, and then westbound. That starts all
the way from the truck stops at Wallaceville. Thirty five
minute drag that way. Visors, Look at your Katie Freeway.
You got brakes right at Graham Parkway into Barker Cypress.
(01:45:19):
Another big slowdown at Eldridge Parkway. You're doing a good.

All Right, the New York Times decided that they were
going to single out Robert F. Kennedy Junior the potential
future health and Human Services Secretary, who, as we all know,
is on a crusade for safer food, especially for our children.
Mister Kennedy made a comment about the difference between fruit loops,
(01:47:36):
you know, which is very sugary breakfast cerial fruit loops
here in the United States, versus fruit loops made in Canada,
and in an attempt to fact check RFK Junior, they
actually proved his point. More in that story coming up next. First, though,
traffic and weather together as we check out the drive
once again courtesy of Skyline.
Speaker 3 (01:47:55):
Hey, I've got some good news. Jimmy South with six T.
I'm hearing non life threatening injuries on the HPD officer
that was in that motorcycle wreck. I knew when they
didn't block the whole thing that was a good sign.
That was eastbound. The backups are gone too. Now westbound,
you've got the road construction both sides of Iten Advisors,
you've got a westbound problem. It's a stall at Washington
Avenue right under Denny's and then east.
Speaker 4 (01:48:16):
Freeway hard Hatch, you're slow right at Mercury.
Speaker 3 (01:48:19):
That's a wreck. What are we blocking here? They moved
that to the side and the loop don't go there
six 'y ten north's awful westbound at Homestead.
Speaker 4 (01:48:26):
That's a stall that's quit. A quick tip line.

Speaker 5 (01:49:35):
Yeah, you'd be a fruit loop baby. Seven fifty three
is our time here, news and worn news. None of
us are working under the idea that fruit loops is
good for you, right, I mean we understand it's you know,
it's a sugary cereal.
Speaker 10 (01:49:47):
You know.
Speaker 5 (01:49:47):
We it's funny because you know, kids growing up in
the sixties and the seventies, you know, we all got
we all got sold on the idea that breakfast is
part of a complete you know, this, this earl is
part of a complete breakfast. Not really, not really, but
that's okay. RFK Junior has been talking about the difference
(01:50:08):
between food that we have in this country versus the
same food in different countries that have more stringent regulations
on things like artificial flavors and colors and all that
kind of stuff. And he made a point about fruit
loops containing so many ingredients here in the United States,
artificial ingredients here in the United States that they don't
have in Canada and wondered why we can't have the
(01:50:30):
same serial they have in Canada, and The New York Times,
which of course is anti RFK Junior, decide they're going
to fact check him. Well, that didn't work out so well.
Here's Greg Guttfeld and a member of his panel, comedian
writer Jamie Lissau, discussing it.
Speaker 46 (01:50:44):
The Times fact checks fruit loops, Jamie. The New York
Times tried to dunk on r f K Junior, but
instead ended up making the point for him. Earlier this month,
RFK said American fruit loops have eighteen or nineteen ingredients
compared to Canada's version, and here's how The Times tried
to correct it.
Speaker 4 (01:51:00):
He was wrong on the ingredient count.
Speaker 46 (01:51:02):
They're roughly the same, but the Canadian version does have
natural colorings made from blueberries and carros, while the US
product contains red dye forty yellow five blue one, as
well as beutilated hydroxytulein BHT, a lab chemical that is
used for freshness according to the ingredient level. Well, they
showed RFK, didn't they, Jamie, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:51:21):
They sure did.
Speaker 47 (01:51:22):
By paraphrasing exactly what he said. Yeah, that was amazing
this story, Like, I think it's so insane that they're
finding fault with him, trying to make us hell, it's
a problem.
Speaker 4 (01:51:33):
We all know that's a real problem.
Speaker 47 (01:51:35):
Yeah, it's absolutely They try to grab onto one little
thing that might have been different than what they thought.
Speaker 4 (01:51:40):
This this start like brought me back.
Speaker 47 (01:51:41):
Like it made me think of like all those remember
when all those serials came up. Used to be able
to tell how bad a zero was for you if
it had like a prize, yes.
Speaker 4 (01:51:49):
Remember that.
Speaker 47 (01:51:50):
It was like it was like fruit loops, you get
like a decodering, but then if you had like grape nuts,
the only prize was a toilet full of grape nuts.
Speaker 4 (01:51:59):
You know what I mean. I loved drag nights. I
love gradual gibbons.
Speaker 47 (01:52:03):
Do you think do you think day one RF table
just watched Trump eat and then outlaw everything.
Speaker 16 (01:52:08):
Yes, that'll be that'll be how we decide things.
Speaker 47 (01:52:12):
Yeah, we do need to remember they do and they
still kind of do them. They go they show like
a super sugary, awful cereal and they go, it's part
of a complete breakfast. And then they show like a
little bowl of the cereal with a complete breakfast surrounding it. Yes,
I would be like saying, like, oh, a condom, it's
part of a complete outfit.
Speaker 4 (01:52:29):
Oh do you remember what you were addicted to as
a kid. For cereal?
Speaker 5 (01:52:34):
Oh man, I used to love Captain crunch except it
tears up the roof of your mouth, you know, But
it was crunchy. I gravitate towards the cereals that stayed
crunchy and milk. I love frosted flakes, but they didn't
stay crunchy enough, not long enough anyway, none of which
were good for you, by the way, But that's that's okay.
You can get away with it when you were a kid. Listen,
you'll have a great day. We'll see tomorrow morning, bright
(01:52:55):
and early at five am. I'll see at the save
from four on the AM nine fifty KPRC.
