Speaker 1 (00:00):
They didn't show up. Where are all the young dudes?
Six twenty three ys our time? Here on Houston's Barn News,
Cindy Segal joins us Harris County GOP chair. What do
the stats tell us on voter turnout for young men
in Harris County, Cindy.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Well, they're a lot less than young women. You know,
typically in Harris County, we've seen the trend that women
out vote as a whole about ten points seven to
ten points men. But our data shows for those that
are Republican, young Republicans, they track with what the women

(00:39):
are doing. But you know, I think the Democrat Party
has failed young men. Uh. And you know, they haven't
dealt with issues that are important to them. They've been
too busy dealing with you know, sanctuary cities. Uh, the
economy was good, we need to get rid of Donald Trump.

(01:06):
They weren't effective, you know, issues that were relatable to
the young male voter. I would I would suggest, I.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Would suggest, Cindy, that they waged war against young men,
and young men knew that, they realized that they were
a target.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Well, and I think you could see it with President
Obama when he was lecturing young men about why they
weren't getting out supporting Kamala Harris and making it into
you know, you all are sexist, and maybe they're not sexist.

(01:46):
Maybe it's a function of the party. The Democrat Party
isn't offering them, you know, they're not listening to young
men and what young men need in order just to
forward a candidate. You know, it's all about reproductive rights,

(02:06):
and there's just a lot more that was on the
ballot than Donald Trump and reprotective price.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Let me let me ask you all, I have you
two about the election in general. We didn't really do
much of a postmortem on whether or not there were
any real problems or issues. Certainly there weren't very many
things that were reported. Was this Harris County election in
your estimation, completely on the up and up? Did we
did we have any issues that maybe we haven't heard
about or was it actually a well done election?

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Well, it was definitely a well done It's hard to
you know, when the last election in twenty two was
they got a big f when they ran out of paper.
This was night and day difference. Now is it an
a plus? In my opinion, it was a b be minus.

(03:01):
I think that there needs to be additional training. We
had some Democrat judges that were abusive to some of
the Republican clerks, particularly those who spoke foreign languages. Uh.
And we're documents, you know, We've got AffA Davis. We're

(03:23):
documenting all that to turn into the county. But overall,
we did a survey. Overall the results were extremely positive.
But we do have legislation that we're working with Senator
Bett in court and our state House reps in terms

(03:47):
of election integrity, things that need to be done to
pity you.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Know what, I think them earning a BEE is probably
relatively high praise for Harris County. They've really got they're
they got to grate that high and anything else they
do well.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
And in fairness, they took over September first last year,
and you have a period of time where you know,
you don't take new voters. You're immediately training training people
on equipment, figuring out your polls, et cetera. I mean
it was like then we had the May elections and

(04:26):
the a Kid elections, then we had the Age Caad
runoff elections, and then you're preparing for the national presidential elections.
So and then we have the runoff going on right
now with Baytown. I think loan starved at the Baytown mayor,

(04:46):
so at eats step time. It's very time intensive, but
you know, we want to continue to work with the
County Clerk, with County Texa Assessor.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
More improvements, more improvements need to be made and should
be made. Cindy, we have to run, but thank you
so much. Cindy Siegel, Harris County GOP Chair at six
twenty eight
