Speaker 7 (01:42):
Another violent weekend across the Euston area leaves two men
dead in separate shootings. In northeast Harrace County. Gunfire broke
out during a pack gathering at a gas station Saturday night,
one person killed, at least six others hurt. Hours later
on the city's west side of road, rage incident on
Highway six near Memorial Drive turned deadly when man was
gunned down after an argument. Both cases remain unsolved. Houston

(02:04):
Mayor John Whitmyer shining a light on part of the
rise in crime. At a recent city council meeting, the
mayor said that there were at least nine hundred accused
killers free on bond in Houston.

Speaker 9 (02:14):
This has been one of the biggest contributors to Houston's
rising crime problem.

Speaker 10 (02:17):
These are people on bond for murder. Once you kill someone,
there's nothing left for you out there. You're going to
either commit more crimes or you're going to end up
in prison or dead.

Speaker 9 (02:26):
Doug Griffith with the Houston Police Officers Union says many
of these accused killers shouldn't be getting bond at all.

Speaker 10 (02:31):
In ninety percent of these cases, the people that are
getting bonds are already on bond for something else.

How is it that we're not revoking the first bond,
Griffith says, we need to start holding the light on crime.

Republicans narrowly passing the Senate's GOP framework for President Trump's
agenda that includes tax cuts, funding for the border, and
the military. Speaking to reporters or board Air Force one.

The most comprehensive regulation cuts in the history of our country,
and many many other things, including border ball money. We

Awhi Democratic Senator Brian Schatz holding up over three hundred
Trump nominations or the process he once dubbed at abuse
of power. Sean Fleetwood of the Federalist says that the
holds he has put on the nominations require individual committee
approval of process that he once said he'd never use.

Hypocrisy is part of it, but I also think it's hierarchy.
Democrats just don't think that they have to play by
the same rules. They view themselves as elites, that they
are greater than Republicans, greater than Conservatives, and they don't
have to abide by the same standards.

He says this is nothing more than a play to
steimy Trump's agenda, as the Democrats creating continues, a former
Clinton advisor is calling out the party for being.

The Drump administration now says it's exempting electronics from the

memory chips and storage devices. Commerce Secretary Harold Ludnik on

Going to be outside the reciprocal tariffs, and he was
just making sure everyone understood that all of these products
are outside the reciprocal tariffs and they are going to
have their own separate way of being considered.

President Trump says he'll be announcing teriff rates on imported
semiconductors this week. With warmer weather coming and celebrations in
the holidays, firework industry is facing significant changes and new
trade policies and tariffs with China.

I'm proud to say that the APA board and the
NFA board, I know, are working their butts off on
this situation all day, every day, seven days a week.
We're very hopeful we're going to see a pathway to
some exemptions.

That's President of the American Pyrotechnics Association, Michael Ingram says
the APA has sent a letter to President Trump requesting
an exemption from the fifty four percent teriff rate on fireworks.
The White House has temporary protected status is ending for
Afghans who were brought to the US after the boxed
US exit from Afghanistan. Deportation orders are being drawn up,

according to the US Department of Homeland Security. President Trump
is taking a victory lap amid those negotiations with multiple countries.
Speaking to reporters over the weekend, he said he believes
nuclear talks between the US and Iran are going pretty good.

either have to put up or shut up. When asked

wants to make everything controversial. There's nothing controversial about it.
All of these guys should be trained in that, and
they should all be in shape and be able to
defend themselves. So Cash Betel was dead serious when he
said that, and he and I have talked about it.

I think, you know, UFC fighters are certainly known for
their discipline, for their toughness. I think that would be
great reflected in the FBI. It is certainly an agency
that you know, people are looking to kind of improve
upon at this point right now.

type of roles, any type of law enforcement, they should
be able to defend themselves without guns if that situation happens.

the weekend got asked about, well, a lot of things,
not the least of which is passing a framework, if
you will, for a budget. It's not the budget per se,
it's a framework for a budget. That's how things work

or don't work in government. You pass frameworks for things.
He was on Sunday Morning Futures talking about passing that
blueprint and a few other items.

Here he is, there's been a lot of deliberate negotiation,
a lot of hard work done for more than a year,
Maria to get to this point. We started this process
in March of last year. We expected and believed that
we would have unified government. We would come to this
moment a really incredible opportunity, and that is that we
would have alignment. We would win the White House, the Senate,

and the House, and we would be able to engage
in this process. The beauty of the reconciliation process is
because it's the one mechanism that allows you to get
around the necessity of sixty votes in the Senate, and
that's what's so important because we only have fifty three
Republicans there. But we have to get the Senate Republicans
and a House Republicans virtually every single one of them
aligned to make sure that while we extend the tax cuts,

to your point, we also pay for them. Because we
all know that the national debt isa be the greatest
single threat toward national security right now.

So knowing that seventy six percent of the spending goes
toward mandatory spending Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, where are the offsets?

Speaker 4 (12:13):
Well, here's the key to all of it.

Speaker 21 (12:14):
The President has made absolutely clear many times as we
have as well, that we're going to protect Medicare, social Security,
Medicaid for people who are legally beneficiaries of those programs.
There are a lot of Americans who rely upon those
programs and we've got to ensure that they're safeguarded. That's
a big priority of the White House and the Republicans
in Congress. At the same time, we have to root

(12:37):
out fraudation abuse. We have to eliminate people, for example,
on Medicaid who are not actually eligible to be there
able bodied workers, for example, young men who should never
be on the program at all. When you have people
on the program that are draining the resources, it takes
it away from the people that are actually needing it
the most and are intended to receive it. You're talking

(12:58):
about young single mothers, you know, down on their fortunes
at the dad of moment, you know, the people with
the real disabilities, the elderly, and we've got to protect
and preserve that program. So we're going to preserve the
integrity of it in this process. We have lots of
categories of areas where the government is too large, it
does too many things, and the DOJE efforts and others
have highlighted that for the American people. So in this process,

you're going to see in eleven different committees of jurisdiction
across the House, members working hand in hand with their
sleeves rolled up, working to carve out those inefficiencies.

Yeah, okay, well and hopefully codified by by law, which
of course, you know, always takes a while when you're
dealing with speaking of government and efficiencies. Is there anybody
thinks that the House of Representatives has been efficient with
its time getting things passed not very not at all,
five twenty six. It is time to take a look

such a thing. All of the tariff turmoils stocks managed
to post solid games for all of last week. The
major averages had advances ranging from one and a half
percent to just over two percent on Friday. Investors are
encouraged by President Trump's decision to accept smartphones, laptops, and

other consumer electronics from his new tariffs, but the President
says no one is getting off the hook entirely and
the reprieve will not be permanent. Nonetheless, futures are looking
good this morning, with the Dow futures up three hundred
and nine and Atlantis Hartsfield Jackson International Airport retains its
crown as the world's busiest airport for international and domestic flights.

Airport's Counsul International reports more than one hundred eight million

criticize DOSE Chairman Elon Musk's efforts to cut fraud and
abuse in social Security and an attempt to cut federal spending.
Speaking to reporters on Air Force one, President Trump claims
that there are people receiving Social Security benefits. It's not
supposed to.

It's a horrible thing.

you take dead people out and all of the people
that they're talking about that should not be in there,

Social Security administration is in implementing new identification verification rules today,
requiring people to verify their identity online or in person
before receiving benefits. The president of the US Oil and
Gas Association is protesting the protesters who don't approve of Elon,
Tesla or Doge.

and Tesla by buying his own Model three.

Mark Cuban recently made headlines for pointing out that gender
ideology can't be forced down people's throats. So does that
mean the left is done with it once and for all.

these extreme leftists who are pushing forward with this in
a militant and violent fashion.

expect the radical base to try and pushing it again
if they ever get back into power. Artificial intelligence now
being used as propaganda and the US China trade wars.

A new viral AI video depick sobes Americans working in
factories set to Chinese music. Author in China expert Gordon
Chang says this only further damages relations with the US.

This is just difficult Chinese. It's of course insulting. It
is the Chinese is trying to mock Americans, and I
think they're doing it because they realize how serious the
situation is, so their only response really is seeing derisive.

Another Chinese AI video depicts President Trump, Vice President Vance
and Elon Musk working in a sweatshop chain predicts China
will eventually call to negotiate, but says they're too proud
to do it yet. Corey Yolson, who's Radio seven forty KTRH, well,
the stock market continues to be volatile. A new investment
strategy has emerged for those with four oh one kes
called front loading.

The idea is, since the stock market is down, rather
than putting in a little bit through payroll deduction, you'd
put it all in now, as opposed to little bits
paycheck by paycheck.

KTRH money Man Pansion says that while this strategy does
have a lot of upsign potential, it's incredibly risky and
he doesn't recommend it. Last month, President Trump began dismantling
the Department of Education, but Sheriff Sylvester with the Texas
Public Policy Foundation says, the left wing educrats still want

to control our children.

It is one step to get rid of the federal
Department of Education. It's another step we have to continue
to work to get rid of identity politics and the
left wing ideology that drives a lot of our schools.

days of rest before starting the first round of the
NBA Playoffs coming up this weekend and the Astros. They

So the TSA has eleven new rules going into effect
this summer that should make traveling a little bit easier.
These the following items. You can carry any size you
want and you will not be limited in size. Over
the counter medications, prescription medications in gel, liquid or air
us all form ice packs or gel packs for medically

necessary items. Food and drink for infants and toddlers. Live fish,
what live fish transported in water? Biological specimens, breast milk
or baby formula, liquid filled teethers, no for heating babies,

duty free items sealed in tamper evident bag. And fresh eggs?
Fresh eggs? How many people are carrying fresh eggs on board?
Everything else goes according to plan. Shampoo, perfume, sunscreen, and
body washes could soon join the list. They're not there yet,
so you're still limited when it comes to that, but

that may be changing pretty soon too. Five forty time

view this tariff war as we call it, They view
it as an existential threat to their economy.

I've seen a lot of shows here lately, Gordon talking
about obviously talking about China and talking about the teriff war.
Here is you've watched this situation evolved. I thought it
was very interesting that President Trump said that he believes
that China would like to negotiate. They just don't know
how to negotiate it. You think that's part of the problem,

that they just they're not used to having to negotiate.
Therefore they don't know how to sit down and talk
about this stuff.

Well, I think President Trump is right, and he's right
in this respect that C. Jimping has configured the Chinese
political system so that only the most hostile answers are
considered acceptable. So he cannot be seen as picking up
the phone and calling President Trump. Now, that would be
the economically rational thing for him to do right now,

But nonetheless, I don't think that it is politically acceptable
in China to do that. So while this trade war
hurts China so much more than it hurts the United States, Sigianping.

to do what you say, which is to start trouble someplace.
And you know, Jimmy, we've seen in the last couple
of weeks hostile Chinese maneuvers in the waters of South Korea, Japan, Philippines, Australia,

and of course Taiwan. So that really means that the
Chinese system is already lashing out and this is just started,
so it could get much worse.

think for the Chinese? What would set this off?

I think I think that if they see that the
United States won't cave in, then they might consider harsher measures.
The only way that China wins this trade war because
the objective factors all point into the US holding the
high cards. But the one thing that ci Jinping hopes
is that he can marshall American public opinion to get

Trump to back down. That's China's only help. If he
sees that that campaign is not working on President Trump,
then they may decide to go to harsher measures, but
we got to remember that this fight is something we
can't back down either, because China's been maliciously attacking our
economy and our people like fentanyl, like covid. So this
