Speaker 1 (00:00):
As usually a very interesting article in an American Thinker,
this one about the real threat to the America's democracy,
and basically, it's lies, deception, deceit, and we just got
off four years of dealing with all that during the
Biden administration, the great cognitive decline story that was hidden

(00:24):
by the left, and at every possible turn, we you know,
a lot of people voted for somebody they didn't realize
was not really being president of the United States. Andrew
Whidberg joined us managing editor of American Thinker. What's shocking
to me, Andrew, is that there hasn't been and it's
getting to be a bigger deal. But what's amazing to
me is that we allowed it to go on for

(00:45):
so long, and it doesn't appear that anybody's really going
to be punished for what happened.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
I don't think anyone will be punished. I know that
sounds pessimistic of me, but DC will will ultimately always
protect its own and Republicans in DC seem to be
more part of the system than representatives of the American people.
Cynical and depressing but true.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Well, yeah, I can I'd love to argue with you
about this, but I really can't. And maybe that's why
we've all become so cynical. Maybe that's why we don't
expect things to be fixed, because we know they won't
be and nobody will do anything about any of this stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
It's true, And the reality is Democrats have horrible ideas
and a huge amount of energy and viciousness to put
those ideas into effect and to destroy anyone who stands
in their way. And Conservatives have good ideas and are
just passive and they talk a good game. But now

(01:50):
that Donald Trump is trying to effectuate all the promises
conservatives have made for decades has happened in his first term,
he's getting resistance from his own party. Trump's first term
was not successful ultimately, not because of the Democrats, but
because of Republican pushback and apathy.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Well, it seems that this could happen again. We got
the big beautiful bill through the House by one vote,
but we've got at least two Republican senators, Ram Paul
among them, who say they will not vote in favor
of that big beautiful bill. And that doesn't even take
the consideration the squishy Republican senator. So he may be
three or four votes short of getting that bill passed

(02:32):
in the Senate.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Exactly. And it's just a disaster because the tax cuts
are about to expire and the hit on the economy
will be dreadful, and the hypocrisy is really awful from
some of them. Lindsey Graham, for example, voted for the
one point two trillion infrastructured stimulus bill, but is now
complaining that he can't vote for the current bill because

(02:56):
it's just got too much spending. Well, they all have
spent them, frankly, because that's how our government works, and
it needs to stop. But right now, Trump needs a victory.
We need to have the tax cuts continued, and the
bill has a lot of huge benefits for advancing the
conservative agenda and to give Trump a bit more power

(03:19):
to do so. And so the fact that these rhinos
for one of a better word, are collapsing says so much,
and none of it good about establishment Republicans.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
So at the end of the day, the real threat
of the democracy is squishy Republicans.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yes, because democrats are going to democrat, but if they're
in the minority, the fact that nothing happens falls on
the shoulders of the Republicans.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
That's a fact. Andrea, thank you as always, have a
great day. Managing editor of the American Thinker, Andrea Widberg,
you'all have a great day. We'll see you tomorrow morning,
bright in early at five am. Hope to see you.
