Speaker 1 (00:02):
This is huge Radio seven kat RH Houston Live everywhere
with now the latest news, weather and draft.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
It's more what matters to you. From the John Morris
Services studios. Well, good morning, it is a Tuesday, five AM.
Is our time here on Houston's Morning News. I'm Jimmy Barrett.
Among our top stories as we get started this morning,
CNN promoting an app they can track ice agents. A
big beautiful vote could come today and coming up at
five o eight. Are you always late early or on time?

(00:36):
Details in the minutes ahead first, were jack out that morning?
Got the first time sky Mike's here. Good morning so far.
Good morning, Jimmy Barrett.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
We've got just a little something that skipped up a
few minutes ago on two ninety.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
They've picked up road debris. What was I don't know,
some kind of crap in the road, museki that was
on the outbound. That's gone.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Check the inbound now clear the board, reset the jackpot.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
We look good.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
If you had a grand march at your wedding, Graham Park,
play to the West Loops sixty ten piece of KKE
twenty five minutes and the rest of your freeway's rock
will check your ship channel bridges in the USA Rvresorts
dot Com traffic center at the ten break.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
From r KTRH top tax Defenders twenty four hour weather center.
Looks like it's could be pretty uneventful weather day today
party cloudy skies with the high temperature right about ninety five.
We'll get to the complete forecast with Terry Smith that
the weather channel in nine minutes. Current temperature is seventy
five at your official severe weather station, News Radio seven
forty kt RH. It's time now for the news. Here's

(01:32):
Cliff Sanders.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
Thank you, Jimmy five oho one on KGRH our top
story this morning.

Speaker 5 (01:37):
Surely it sounds like this would be an incitement of
further violence against our ice officers.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt reacting to CNN, the
lefty news network, promoting an app that claims to track ice.

Speaker 6 (01:52):
So Trump administration steps up ice rays and mass deportations,
one tech developer is pushing back with an app to
track ice activity in real time.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
It's called ice block.

Speaker 4 (02:04):
Yeah, and that was part of the report that they
ran attacks against ice agents that are up around five
hundred percent this year. Here at home, sixteen men, almost
all of them illegals living in Houston are facing federal
and drug weapons charges. They are members of anti trend
that is a violent offshoot of Trendy or Ragua. The
left is already plotting an end around on the US

(02:27):
Supreme Court's ban on nationwide injunctions and continuing to fight
the order President Trump signed ending birthright citizenship.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
High Court left a loophole in its ruling last week.

Speaker 7 (02:38):
While judges can't issue individual injunctions, they can rule in
class action lawsuits. Heritage Foundation legal analyst Hans von Spakowski
expects this to be exploited.

Speaker 8 (02:47):
These rogue judges are going to try to get around
this by willy nilly certifying classes of planeffs.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
They're going to say, well.

Speaker 8 (02:55):
Everyone in the entire country is affected by this. So
while this is a big victory, I'm afraid the Justice
partman is gunner before.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
The Supreme Court again.

Speaker 7 (03:03):
He also predicts the Supreme Court will eventually have to
rule on the constitutionality of birthright citizenship. Cory Ulson, who's
radio seven forty k TRH.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
It is now five h three on KTRH.

Speaker 9 (03:13):
Each and every one of the individual titles in this
bill would be considered one of the great achievements in
the history of the conservative movement.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
That is, Whitehouse Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller with
k TRH as Sean Hannity. The voter rama in the
Senate continues. The liberal New York Times that reports that
there are now six Republicans at least that are holding
out on the Big Beautiful Bill. Rand Paul and Tom
Tillis are for sure no votes. Maine Susan Collins has
yet to commit, neither has Lisa Murkowski. We could get

(03:45):
a vote on this later this morning. The President is
reacting to this on truth social posting that quach failure
to pass means a whopping sixty eight percent tax increase,
the largest in history. It's now five oh four. Texas
conservatives are calling out the recent eighty two thousand dollars
pay raise for HISD superintendent Mike Miles. Policy analyst James

(04:09):
Quintaro tells KTRH this is proof that there are districts
raking in the cash from property Texas.

Speaker 10 (04:16):
There's a lie circulating on the left that Texas public
education is not fully funded. How anyone can make that
claim is absolutely beyond me. When we have superintendents getting
paid more than the President of the United States.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
By the way, Miles is going to make four hundred
and sixty two thousand dollars a year. There are superintendents
and several other Texas districts making that much, if not more,
including the superintendents in Tomball, Victoria and Barber's Hill ISDS.
There are some surprising results from a poll conducted by

(04:50):
the liberal Pew Research Center. The majority of Americans now
back teacher led prayer in schools.

Speaker 11 (04:57):
Terry Shilling with the American Principles Jack says he's not surprised.

Speaker 12 (05:03):
There's there real hunger amongst Americans to get back to
the basics, a love of God's family and country.

Speaker 11 (05:10):
The left leaning poll shows a sharp divide between red
states and blue states.

Speaker 12 (05:16):
Test scores are so bad that only a third of
kids can read or do math at grade level. That's
why I think a large amount of Americans want to
return back to the basics, like prayer in public school.

Speaker 11 (05:26):
Which was signed into law here in Texas. Jeff Biggs
News Radio seven forty k TIH and here's more.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
Proof that gen z simply can't adult. They are now
using AI just to break up with their significant others
forty one percent according to the latest data. Relationship trader
Julie Ni says this is the result of all the
time that gen Z spends on their phones.

Speaker 13 (05:51):
Their social skills plummet. They become emotionally retarded because they're
not interacting with other human beings in a way that
gives them the skills said they need to be successful.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
She says, you're not really communicating with somebody if you're
using AI, even if it's the old it's not you,
It's me speech five oh six on KTRH A stunner
in Idaho, Brian Coberger, charged with the brutal murder of
four college students, copped a plea to avoid the death penalty.

Speaker 14 (06:19):
The families of the victims, who were killed in off
campus housing near the university in Moscow, Idaho, were notified
of the decision. The family of one of those killed,
Kaylee Gonsalves, responded in anger on social media, saying it
was unexpected and that the state of Idaho failed them.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Coberger's trial was sent for August.

Speaker 4 (06:41):
That is Gernald Scott reporting the Rockets get active in
free agency, reportedly bringing back Clink Capella on a three
year deal after his run with the Hawks. The team
also brought in free agent four Dorian Finney Smith on
a four year, fifty three million dollar deal. The Astros
on the road tonight pregame at six point thirty in
Colorado on Sports Talk seven ninety game at seven thirty

(07:03):
on seven ninety and KTRH. I'm Cliff Saunders on Houston's news,
weather and traffic station, News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
I live in the Heights, I live in Spring King
What next on the ten your faster commute on seven
forty KTRH. Have you ever heard of something called time blindness?
Time blindness? Five oh eight? Ur time? You're in Houston's
borning news. All right, Big Volte today coming on the Senate.

(07:33):
We think it's going to happen today on the Big
Beautiful Bill. We'll be covering that all morning for you.
We'll get to that story here in just a few minutes.
But I did want to start with this as somebody
who is chronically on time and prides himself on being
on time. You got an appointment at one o'clock, I'll
be there at twelve fifty eight, maybe one oh one,

(07:57):
somewhere in that range. I'm pretty good figuring out how
long it takes me to drive to whoever it is
I have to go. I do sometimes allow if I
know the traffic's bad, I'm allowing a few extra minutes
for traffic. But if you want me there at a
certain time, I'm pretty good at making sure I'm there
when I'm supposed to be there. I know a lot

(08:17):
of people, and most of them I think have control issues.
Who are always late, I mean ten, fifteen, twenty minutes
late every single time. They're never on time. If you
are never on time, that tells me that that's purposeful.
You didn't mean to be on time. You don't want

(08:39):
to be on time. You want to be in control.
Although I did see this story that claims, according to
mental health experts, that there is something called time blindness,
it's a legitimate experience, especially for people with ADHD. Another
thing we can blame ADHD on, huh. People with time

(09:00):
blindness struggle to keep track of and estimate time. Harder
for them to gauge how long it takes to complete
a task or how long it will take to arrive somewhere.
Most commonly observed in people with ADHD, time blindness can
manifest in anyone with an impairment and executive function stemming
from the frontal lobe area of their brain, which is
responsible for personality, judgment, self control, and other issues. So

(09:25):
they claim this is, you know, legitimate, that there are
people who just can't figure out how long it's going
to take them to do something, so they're always late.
My wife, on the other hand, is always early. She
has the opposite problem. I'll analyze hers the morning goes
on and what her story is. But here's my question
of today. We're back with the question of the day. Today.

(09:47):
You go to the iHeartRadio app KTRH. Please make us
number one in your preset, and my question to you
is are you eventually on time? Late or early? And
why do you think that is? And what do you
think of people who are always late? Do they bother
you or do you just kind of compensate for it? Again,
I heard radio app hit the talkback button. All you

(10:09):
have to once you get to KTRH, you get up
to thirty seconds. First, name where you're calling from, and
your theories on why people are always late, five to
ten time for traffic and whether to go two? You
are always here on times coming barely. But it's like
a form of retardation. And here's my deal. Like I
look at the I look.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
At the clock right and I see five oh five
right in my head. A few minutes later, I still
think it's five oh five. I don't have any my
first father in law said, Michael has no concept of time.
I also suck with money. All right, let's go to
the hard work in east Side two twenty five inbound
just before Alan Jeno. We got some kind of sketch there.

(10:48):
Does not look like an accident from what I can see.
Don't even see the flashy lights. Let but I'm gonna
see if our Transtar guys will turn some cameras for
me and we get some langage.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
I do see about.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
A three to four minute wait coming in from Scarborough,
so something's up there. I'll have that info for you
at five twenty. Now, let's check on the other side
of the ship channel. And it's looking good now and
coming in from Lynchburg, we're twenty one minutes into downtown.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
In good shape here, and your bridge is hart Mainbridge.
Look at you. Oh, that's pretty Baytown to the port.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
We're in good shape here, Toll Bridge rocks along both
sides north short of Deer Park east loop six to ten,
but plant back down to two twenty five. Spells funny
right there. It's wide open so far, no major problems
on your freee, Terry. Where is my frontal lobe area
of my brain?

Speaker 2 (11:36):
Your scientist.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
I'm in the USA RV Resorts dot Com traffic center.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
I'm not sure, but I think you might be sitting
on it from our ktirah top tax defender's plenty pour
our weather center, Terry, get me one of those. I
just for you. I tease him because I love him.
He knows, no, I know.

Speaker 15 (11:52):
Well, it's kind of like where is grants too? Where
is the frontal love of my brain?

Speaker 2 (11:59):
There? There's your first clue there from an actual scientist.
By the way, all right for.

Speaker 15 (12:03):
You as a medical doctor, I just want to point
that out.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
No, you're a scientist, meteorologists, that's good enough. We will
settle at your paid grade. We will settle for meteorologists.
We don't need an actual scientist. Don't have to be
an actual scientist to figure this forecast out. This looks
pretty straightforward.

Speaker 15 (12:20):
Yeah, it's pretty pretty quiet, pretty summary, you know, first
day of July kind of stuff. Not a lot of rain.
We may get some showers and thunderstorms later on today,
about a forty percent chance that somebody's going to get
wet today. Temperatures they're right where they're supposed to be
and where we'd like them to stay for the rest

(12:40):
of the summer. If we could load of mid nineties
this afternoon, straight thundershowers possible tonight tomorrow, also that slight
chance of a thundershower, just a twenty percent chance of
getting wet.

Speaker 16 (12:50):
Now.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
The rest of the week, we're dry.

Speaker 15 (12:52):
The rest of the week, Temperatures are going to be
in the nineties anywhere from the load to upper nineties,
and for the majority of us that will mean mid
upper nineties, which is fantastic if you're, you know, outside
celebrating the fourth of July, but not in the middle
part of the afternoon.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
That's when it's like not so much fun right now.
Seventy five at your official severe weather station, News Radio
seven forty k TRH. It's Houston's Morning News, brought to
you by New South Windows Solutions. Now back to Jimmy
Barriss and the Houston Morning News team. All the info
you need to take on the day. This has been

(13:29):
a tough week for the mainstream media see it well.
Two things about CNN. Number one is I think Pam
Bondy is going to come after these guys for sharing
this app. This They're doing a big story about how
the app works and where you get the app. The
app will allow you to track where ICE agents are.

(13:51):
You know, not only does that put them in danger,
but you're circumventing the law. You're participating in an illegal
activity by using this app. That's one of them. And
the other thing is also on CNN they actually had
to kind of admit that Trump's winning. He's on a
winning streak. They can't stand it, but he is born

(14:12):
that with Greg Gutfield coming up next, first though, traffic
and weather together, starting with U Skymikeen. This is weird, Jimmy.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
I don't usually have trouble on the Hardy bun plus.
This is outbound on inbound. I got a wreck here.
I got one two right lanes. You only have three
lanes there. It's not much of a squeeze since everybody
else is going the other way and the people driving
in from the woodlands, and I don't know about the
Shenandoah people. They may be the ones slowing down, but
the people are coming in from the woodlands.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
They're minding their own damn business.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
And we look at nineteen minutes from spring down on
the inbound despite it oh two twenty five, that was
some overnight leftover work. They didn't have any tupperwares, so
they had to pick it up inbound and we're looking
from alme To or Alan Genoa.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
That's an extra minute or two. Don't worry, stay the course.

Speaker 3 (14:55):
On two twenty five Skymike and the USA R and
B Resorts dot Com traffic center from our.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
KTRH top tax Defenders twenty four hour weatherstand are partly
cloudy about ninety five today with a forty percent chance
of an afternoon shower storm. Same forecast tomorrow, but will
lower the rain chance down to about twenty percent and
then overcast about ninety four for the high temperature on Thursday.
The current temperature is seventy five at your officials Severe
Weather Station News Radio seven forty KTRH. Time to check

(15:22):
out some more top trending stories on this Tuesday. Here's
the cliff. Thank you, Jimmy.

Speaker 4 (15:25):
More proof that Trump economy is rolling seventy two million
Americans will travel for July fourth. Forty eight Texans are
among the three hundred and twenty four people charged nationwide
at a massive crackdown on healthcare fraud, and the National
Hurricane Center is watching an area of interest in the

Speaker 1 (16:00):
He devastated the Iranian nuclear program on news radio seven
KTRH on twenty three.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
Now you're in Houston's morning news, whether we're talking about,
you know, kicking Iran's butt, or we're talking about, you know,
Supreme Court decisions, or we're talking about, jeez, just about
anything that Donald Trump touches. These days, all he does
is win. And even CNN had to admit that he's winning,
and Greg Guttfeld had a fun time talking about it.

Speaker 17 (16:30):
New data suggests kamalas trouncing in twenty twenty four.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
It could have been far.

Speaker 17 (16:33):
Worse if more people had voted, so if the dams
had worked harder to get out the vote, they would have.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
Gotten fewer votes.

Speaker 17 (16:43):
Turns out their biggest enemies are their own policies, candidates,
and party. They're like a cat who's allergic to cats.
On top of that, the Supreme Court got rid of
the nationwide injunctions, the legal systems version of cock blocking
used the stemy Trump's agenda, and in the process revealed

(17:05):
that the dissenting lives are less qualified than Lionel huts.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
Wow, how soon we forget? But with the winning comes
the whining.

Speaker 17 (17:17):
Critics claim the economy would have been fine without this
trade war. But that's like saying Dolly Parton would have
been just as famous without the huge cans, because without
the new tariffs we wouldn't have the extra billions coming in, which.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
The critics leave out.

Speaker 17 (17:34):
It's a half opinion, like celebrating your weight loss but
failing to mention the tapeworm. Now when you praise Trump
for being this good, they'll accuse you of idle worship,
as if they didn't act like Barack Obama Orange Sherbert.
To them, it doesn't matter they're losing. It matters that

(17:56):
you back the guy who's won over and over. I mean,
it's be on predictable.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
It's like a birthday party magic show. You see the
tricks coming, Yeah, you do, but you're just like any
other magic trick, You're powerless to stop the results. Greg
Guffeld's coming. When is he coming to sugar lightenough to
look that up for you. I know he has a
show that is coming here in I think sometime over

(18:22):
the course the next couple of weeks. I'll get the
date and information for you in case you want to
check that out for yourself. We'd love to get him
on the show if we can, but this might be
a little early for him. Five twenty six. Here on
Houston's Morning News, it is time to take a look
at your money as we check him with Jeff Belager.
Good morning and.

Speaker 18 (18:37):
Jimmy, good morning to you. Stock's advanced in Monday trading.
Gains for the major averages yesterday range from half a
percent to six tenths percent. The Nasdaq and the S
and P five hundred both settled at all time highs,
and both indexes have gained five and a half percent
in the first half of the year. The Dow is
up three and two thirds percent for the year to date.

(18:58):
Shares of the vaccine maker Moderna rose more than one
and a half percent. The company reported positive results from
a late stage trial for a.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
New flu vaccine.

Speaker 18 (19:07):
To get the Supply Manager's Manufacturing Index after the markets

some job opening. CEO Mark Zuckerberg plans a major restructuring
of the company's artificial intelligence group. A new group, the
Meta Superintelligence Labs, or MSL, is going to be recruiting

(19:29):

our top stories this half hour. If the economy is
so bad, why is everybody traveling? The White House? Sue's
Los Angeles over the ice riots and coming up at

(20:13):

Speaker 3 (20:23):
All right, dude, we got your Hardy Toll Plaza outbound.

Speaker 16 (20:36):
Hey, I'm only late when there's a crash in Houston.

Speaker 12 (20:39):
That's the only time I'm late.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
Good, I mean I'm late every day. That's right.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
Well, you gotta get up with the roosters. Tony from Beaumont.
That is a banana sticker. Does anybody have a rooster

nine minutes right down seventy five at your officials, Severe
weather station News Radio seven forty k TRH. It's time
now for the news. Here's Cliff Slanders. Thank you, Jimmy.

Speaker 4 (21:15):
It is five point thirty one on KTRH, our top
story this hour.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
Remember the first thirty days of the Trump administration. Why
hasn't he brought prices down? Look at how expensive eggs are?
Trump is lieing? Remember all that yell?

Speaker 4 (21:31):
Yeah, KTRH is Clay Travis and Buck Sex and yeah,
the mainstream media is still trying to sell you on
the Trump economy being bad.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
But how bad could it be?

Speaker 4 (21:40):
A record seventy two million people plus are traveling this
week for July fourth, And there's this Gasoline prices keep
dropping now down to two seventy five a gallon across
Euston this morning. Trilby Lundberg of the Lumberg Survey says
after the bump caused by the Israel Iran conflict, expect
prices to keep going down.

Speaker 20 (22:01):
But because of what's happened to the krude oil market
and events in the Middle East, that dime rise could
be reversed and.

Speaker 4 (22:08):
Then some the state wide average also dropped two cents
over nineteen two seventy four gallon national average three seventeen
oil futures this morning are up though, to sixty five
dollars in twenty five cents a barrel. If you are
flying out of Bush and Hobby today, so far, so good,
minimal delays out of both airports. We had six hundred

(22:28):
plus delays out of Bush yesterday because of the afternoon
storms by point thirty two.

Speaker 16 (22:33):
Now.

Speaker 4 (22:34):
The vote rama for President Trump's agenda that one Big,
Beautiful Bill continues, with Democrats trying to stall as much
as possible.

Speaker 21 (22:43):
Democrats proposed a number of amendments which they argued would
protect Medicaid and snap benefits, but the Democratic Caucus couldn't
push them through due to the Republican majority. In addition
to that, not all we're on board with the strategy.
Republicans argue the legislation will strengthen Medicaid and avoid a
massive tax increase at the end of the year by
making the Trump tax cuts permanent.

Speaker 4 (23:05):
Ryan Schmel's on Capitol Hill there could be a full
Senate vote on the bill this morning. Another reason Democrats
can't gain momentum is because they have no message other
than orange man bad.

Speaker 2 (23:17):
I think this is the identity crisis that they have.

Speaker 22 (23:20):
I think it's just a collection of people that don't
like Trump right now right and that served them well
in twenty.

Speaker 4 (23:27):
Chuck Todd, the former Meet the Press host from NBC,
says that strategy is not working now and it's just
making the party look artificial. Texas Democrats are once again
turning to betto a'ork ahead of next year's midterms, losing strategy.
According to Fort Bend County GOPO doctor Bobby Everley.

Speaker 16 (23:46):
When you think of Beto, who's lost three times, and
a couple others who have no statewide name ID, it
really shows that the Democrats are in a lot of
trouble going into the midterms.

Speaker 4 (23:58):
There's some speculation that or Roorke could jump into the
race for John Cornyn's US Senate seat, along with Congressman
Joaquin Castro and others, a mainstream media shocker that Jimmy
alluded to earlier this morning. CNN's Michael Smurkhanish gave the
President credit for quote.

Speaker 2 (24:16):
Being on a roll.

Speaker 4 (24:18):
But don't expect CNN to start playing nice with Trump
anytime soon.

Speaker 5 (24:22):
You can expect them to keep being woke despite how
much it's already cost them.

Speaker 23 (24:26):
They tried a couple times to bring in new directors
at CNN, and they always seem to get shoved out
by the rank and file who are activists driven.

Speaker 5 (24:34):
That's to Paul University Media Studies professor Jeff McCall. He says,
they're still committed to their activist agenda.

Speaker 23 (24:39):
It's not working out for them financially, and it's not
working out for them professionally, but it hasn't seemed to

Stay in touch on your drive in with Jimmy Barrett
and the Houston Morning News team. My little something this
morning for people who are chronically late, and you know
who you are, and you've been told that you're always late,
but you're still late. Science science is blaming something called

(27:26):
time blindness. You being chronically late and wasting people's time
and having poor time management skills isn't a quirky personality trait.
One TikToker said, other people say, it's your personality. I
love that about you. It's not at all extremely annoying,
tongue in cheek. So somebody who's almost always chronically I

(27:48):
wonder if it's a control issue. See, I have a
wife who's chronically early. Elizabeth is early for everything. And
I'm not just talking like two minutes early. I'm talking
like ten or fifteen minutes early. In her case. I
think she got it from her dad. Her dad was
also chronically early. And I think it's kind of i'll

(28:09):
call it the disaster mindset. We're gonna get lost, something's
gonna go wrong, something's gonna happen, and if we if
we don't, if we don't leave early, we'll get there late.
It's almost a fear of being late, like being late
is the worst thing that could happen. So I think
it's the opposite problem of people who are chronically late.

(28:31):
I think people are chronically they either don't have any
time management skals, or they just don't care, or they
want to be the last one there. Maybe it's a
sign of narcissism. I don't know, but I'm asking you
that's our question today. You go to the iHeartRadio app KTRH,
make us number one on your preset, and then you
get up to thirty seconds. First name where you're calling from,

(28:52):
and your thoughts about people who are chronically late or
chronically earlier, people who just seem to have a hard

Speaker 28 (28:58):
Yeah, and being in construction and working on the farm
home a lot. Man, I'm always up early, ready to go.
Let's get it done time wise for heat and stuff
like that. But what about Dwight Yoakam's always late with
your kisses? Are always whiting on a woman? You know?

Speaker 29 (29:16):
Oh lord, Hey Jimmy, it's David in Jersey Village. But me,
I try to be on time when whenever possible, and
I'm pretty good at it. But my brother and I
just want to share. He's always one of those that
are late. As a matter of fact. We golf together
a lot, and if he finds himself running on time,
he'll find something to do, like rate the yard, do

(29:38):
the dishes, just do something that just totally makes them
fifteen minutes late. And I witness it all the time.
It's unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
Take care. Why do people do that? Though? I mean
you could be on time. Why do you make yourself
purposely late? What's going on? Five forty time for traffic
and weather together? Wait, what's going on? Jimmy?

Speaker 30 (29:57):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (29:58):

Speaker 3 (30:00):
Actually waiting on a woman was Brad Paisley. In my

and twenty later when the chorus comes on, the door's
flung open and the crowd's like, oh, it's.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
Waiting on a woman. Get it all right?

Fifty nine inbound at the loop is always a problem
KTRH time saving traffic connect on the ten. I don't
think that's the kind of school prayer we're talking about here.
Fifty two is our time here in Houston's Morning News.
As they said, a few research poll says about fifty
two percent of us support not just prayer in the schools,
teacher led prayers in the schools, teacher led Christian prayers

(34:24):
in the classroom. That's very specific, and I guess that
never surprises me just a little bit. But see if
Anthony le Bruna is surprised. He's executive director of the
American Principals Project. It's one thing to have a moment
of prayer or to invite your students to have a
moment of silence and do with it as they will
as far as praying goes. But teacher led prayer, that's

(34:45):
kind of taking it to a different level. Well, I
would disagree.

Speaker 31 (34:50):
I think that this is a standard that has been
put in our athletics in high school, middle school A
lot of time, the coaches.

Speaker 32 (34:58):
Leading these young men and women, and.

Speaker 31 (35:00):
UH start and begin the or an end UH their
games in prayer led by the head coach, led by
the assistant coach. I think this is just an opportunity
for people who are religious, who are Christian to spread
their word, just like the left has done in the

(35:21):
States in New York, California by pushing this DEI woke
and trans ideology on kids. I think it's just leveling
the playing field and giving that opportunity UH to teachers
in the classroom to teach their students about something that
means near and dear to their hearts, just like the
left has done by installing trans flags and and other

(35:46):
far lgbt Q stuff in the classroom.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
All right, so you're kind of looking at this as
a payback, if you will, for for for you know,
for the edge of the liberal education system that has
forced all sorts of programs on our kids. And I
wouldn't argue for half a second with you on that.
Think you're absolutely right. I guess the question becomes if
we expect uh these programs to be eliminated from our schools,
if that's what we ultimately want, is it is an

(36:09):
education system that is completely free of these types of programs,
then does that and can that coexist with the idea
of prayer in the classroom. In other words, if they
can't have their d I is it still all right
for us to at prayer? I think for it's not.
It's not getting back, it's not. It's not. Uh, you know,

(36:30):
an eye for an eye here. Well, you said leveling
the playing field, that's what you're talking about. Well, what
I'm saying is that you're giving the option back.

Speaker 31 (36:38):
Right, So as California and New York, you know, all
in the far West coast has what they've done is
they have forced prayer out of the classroom. They have
forced uh, the opportunity for God to be there in
our classrooms. And what we're doing is we're just making
it optional. So if you have a teacher in in
in Texas who wants to talk about with their students

(37:01):
and wants to lead in prayer before lunch, they're more
than willing to do so. I mean, you're seeing this
with Governor Abbott. Governor Abbott wants to have the Ten
Commandments in the classroom.

Speaker 32 (37:11):
You're seeing the Texas Senate push this.

Speaker 31 (37:14):
But I think what it overall says is that the
American voter and the American citizens are coming back to
more traditional values because of the far left push over
the last twenty years and what they've done with LGBTQ,
and that you're seeing that Americans are swinging back towards
the right on these issues. That's why you're talking about

(37:36):
fifty two, you know, fifty percent when you don't get
specifically on a specific religion. So I think this is
just a trend of where the American voter wants to
be in the future, and I think lawmakers who represent
these citizens are following suit.

Speaker 2 (37:56):

Stay Informed, Stay on time. Houston's Morning News continues with
Jimmy Barrett and the Houston Morning News Team. You'll go
into one of your friend's bedrooms, you know, when your kids,
you know, when you're teenagers or whatever, and the core
was a traffic light or or a stop sign, or

(45:44):
a street sign that had your last name on it
if you had a common last name, or the street
you grew up on or whatever. I remember friends who
did that, and I remember kind of wondering, wonder where
they got that sign. Well, as it turns out, we
have a stolen sign problem here in Houston, and we
are replacing hundreds of signs each and every year that

(46:05):
get stolen. Here's the report from KHOU eleven.

Speaker 37 (46:10):
Over the past year, driving in her Northeast Houston neighborhood,
Kathy Gunter noticed a powder she says street signs were missing,
and it wasn't just a few.

Speaker 38 (46:18):
When I couldn't identify where I was and I said, okay,
it's becoming a problem.

Speaker 37 (46:22):
When she and other community leaders in District B started
to track the issue, they found it went deeper. In
just the first six months of twenty twenty five, Houston
Public Works confirms at one hundred and sixty five signs
were replaced in the district, and Gunter she has reason
to believe some were stolen.

Speaker 38 (46:40):
When we have an accident or incident like that, you'll
see the poll you know, you see the remnants of
what's left.

Speaker 37 (46:46):
But in many of the cases she encountered, those poles
were undamaged and the hardware meant to hold the street
signs remained with nothing attached.

Speaker 38 (46:54):
Do we pay tax dollars, that's where our money goes
to foot street signs, roads, different conditions, So we're paying
for that and so if you're taking it, you're stealing it.

Speaker 2 (47:04):
Kind of shocking, but I wasn't surprised.

Speaker 37 (47:06):
In the middle of June, District B Councilwoman Tarsha Jackson
notified Houston City Council about the issue. She tells us
she now suspects that some of the signs missing from
her district may be among those being sold on Facebook
from Houston area sellers, some for as low as thirty dollars.

Speaker 38 (47:23):
You know, people want a street sign with their name
on it, and what way to get it is have
for one, take to sign and sell it.

Speaker 37 (47:29):
However, the cost to replace those signs, it's not as cheap.
According to Public Works, that costs one hundred and fifty
dollars to replace the street name sign. Stop signs are
even more. With all the signs replaced across the city
this year for various reasons, that's hundreds of thousands of
dollars spent.

Speaker 2 (47:47):
That's a lot of money. By the way, the stop
sign they cost a little bit more, five hundred dollars
for a brand new What is about stop signs worth
five hundred bucks just metal? Right, cheap metal? Yeah, five
hundred bucks for that most expensive. It seems to me

(48:08):
when my friends back in the day would like to
steal the street sign, they weren't really looking for the
last thing. They were looking for funny names, you know.

It, now it'll dry before this, Afternoon.

Speaker 15 (50:06):
Okay all, Right, WELL i don't know how long it
takes to, cure SO i speak out of ignorance THAT
i don't know how this. Works but we do have
some rain this afternoon and then the rest of the
week our rain chances are. Minimal morning hours should be,
dry so that should help with your morning, commute at
least that aspect of the morning. Commute it's a forty
percent chance of showers and thunderstorms later, today temperatures low

(50:29):
to mid. Nineties there's a twenty percent chance of a
shower storm tomorrow And, thursday and then right, NOW i
Think friday And saturday completely. Dry, now as our rain chances,
decrease the temperatures do the. Opposite they, increase mainly mid
to upper Nineties, Tomorrow, Thursday, friday And. Saturday so a

(50:49):
little more heat and humidity for the rest of the.

done many times In bear's repeating right now is the

(51:15):
topic of the mainstream media and how they behave and
what they cover and what they don't. Cover it's. Interesting
there's kind of a big deal made yesterday ON cnn
of a couple of, things the one thing being them
actually doing a. Story Wells jeff McCall who's a media
studies Professor De Paul, university about both of these, things
about the story THAT cnn was caring about this app

(51:37):
that will locate ice, agents explaining to how the app
works and how to get the app like, they're you,
know like they're trying to promote. It and then ANOTHER
cnn host who actually, said we have to admit. It
President trump is on a. Roll of, course he's one
of the few over there that's willing to do. That
but we'll talk To jeff McCall. Next, first we've got
traffic and weather together as we check it again with

Speaker 2 (53:29):
Six twenty three our time here In Houston's Morning. News,
right let's start with this before we bring on our,
Guest jeff, McCall menia studies professor To Paul. University this
is yesterday ON. Cnn we got to be got it up,
here Go, no it's not going all, Right i'll have
the fair. Phrase, basically they Said trump is on a.
Roll so So i'm not sure which host it was

(53:53):
who said. It i'm pretty SURE i know which hosts
didn't say it because some of the people who particularly
Hate Donald trump are never going to say anything nice about.
Him But i'm Guessing jeff bacall that any HOSTED cnn
who has something positive say About Donald trump is an
immediate pariah in the.

Speaker 23 (54:12):
Newsroom, yeah at THE cnn, newsroom that's for. Sure THE cnn,
hierarchy of, course is quite an activist. ORGANIZATION cnn has
been driven for a number of years by. Ideology THE
cnn host who Complimented trump is Named Michael Smert, kanish
who does a weekend show, actually and he is known

(54:33):
for being a little bit more straightforward and trying to
go where the facts lead than some of the OTHER cnn.
Hosts but this is pretty much just AT. Cnn one
host on one day saying That trump is on a.
Roll AND i think THE cnn of old is THE
cnn of, today and that they're really interested more in

(54:53):
trying to push agendas than they are in covering. News
and the sad thing is in the greater media, LANELANDSCAPE
i think it's sad THAT cnn used to be a
reputable news organization and their activism has really, well it's
ruined their reputation as a news gathering, organization but it's
cost them hundreds of thousands of. Viewers but that doesn't

(55:14):
seem to matter apparently to the leaders AT, cnn BECAUSE
i think they're more interested in pushing agendas than they
are covering the. News and the other thing about THE
cnn audience is that it's very. SMALL i, mean in
the evening in prime, TIME cnn often gets less than
a half a million. Viewers and you contrast that to EVEN,

(55:36):
msnbc which gets over a, million Into Fox, news which
in primetime will get three and a half or four.
Million SO cnn has cost itself hundreds of thousands of
viewers by going on this activist. Kick and the other
thing about their audience is that it's an old. Audience,
demographically so a lot of the people who WATCH cnn

(55:57):
are basically leftover hippies from the, seventies and that's not
a very attractive audience for. Advertisers SO cnn corporately is
losing lots of money because their audience is small and
it's not a desirable. Audience but that doesn't matter to,
them to the corporate big, shots AND cnn is a
subsidiary Of Warner, media and they're leaving lots of money

(56:20):
on the, table and the financial ramifications you would think
might cause them to sit back and, think, hey maybe
we need to turn this organization around and try to
do real news one of these.

Speaker 2 (56:31):
Days but it hasn't much to your, SURPRISE i, think
and much to my. Surprise let me quickly ask you,
too about this other story INVOLVING. Cnn what they were
running a news story yesterday about this ice app that
can locate where ice agents are to quote unquote give
you a heads up that ice is, coming which could
potentially put these ice agents in. JEOPARDY a Journey General
Pam bondi is talking about a potential lawsuit AGAINST cnn

(56:53):
for doing this.

Speaker 23 (56:53):
Story, well it's totally irresponsible journalism AND i know you
know that ice raids are news around the, country but
the question is whether or not we're trying to report
about what the function of the ice raids are and
whether they're, effective as opposed to whether we are trying
to tell people how to avoid ice. Agents and, really

(57:16):
this is this kind of gets back to my point
earlier that they're more interested in. Activism and you, know
we would never think of a major news organization going
on the air and providing safe cracking classes to burglars
who want to steal people's. Money but here we HAVE
cnn trying to take the sides of people who are

(57:37):
in the country. Illegally and, AGAIN ice is going after
the worst, first as we, Know so really they're trying
to help protect the people who are threats to the
very neighborhoods in which they're. Living AND i would say
at a certain point they should be more interested in
the people who are living you, know safe and active,
lives and they should be on the people who are

(57:58):
trying to victimize those.

Speaker 2 (57:59):
People, well you would, think but none of this really
makes much, sense does. It thank? You jeff has always
been you studies professor At De Paul, University jeff, McCall

Chronically late it's always fun to try to figure out why.
This is is it the time? Management problem?

Speaker 10 (01:05:38):
Is?

Speaker 2 (01:05:38):
It is it is this idea that there is something called,
time blindness and that people who are chronically have. Time
blindness they can't figure out how long it's going to
take them to, get ready or how long it's going
to take them to drive to wherever it is. They're
going they don't they don't mean to. Be late they're

(01:05:59):
just bad, time. Managers right or then you've got people
like my wife who are, habitually early and if you
don't want her to be there ten or fifteen, minutes
early you have to fudge the time and tell her
time that's fifteen or twenty minutes later than the time
that you actually want her to. Be there it's it's
funny how we're so habitual. ABOUT this i try very
hard to be, on Time and i'm on time percent of.

The time you say, One o'clock i'm going to be

AS late i think most of your prior, service guys
especially combat, arms guys got to live by something similar.
To them we used to have A saying murphy follows.

Speaker 29 (01:07:42):
The infantry so that's that's THAT'S.

Speaker 2 (01:07:45):
How, I Live sir. MURPHY'S law i think his ways referring.
To right anything that can go wrong will. Go wrong
but that's an interesting aspect about. The, military yeah because
they they live and die. By timing and you, ARE taught,
i mean you were taught when to, get up you
were taught when you can go to, the bathroom you're

Seven twenty two Our time here. On, houston's morning news
right we have some very well paid Superintendents in. The,
greater houston area actually the Best, paid, superintendent in Texas,
though is in victoria and and he is making. Somewhere
in the neighborhood let me. Find his salary here it's
well over a. Half, A Million dollars yeah Randall Meyer.

(01:31:17):
Heads up victoria ist he made base salary five hundred
and sixty five forty seven dollars? Is his Base Salary,
joining us jose melendez Campaign Director Of The, Texas public
policy foundation. He's far from alone we have a lot
of superintendents that are making well over four hundred. Thousand dollars,
A Year in fact Mike miles here in houston just

(01:31:38):
got an eighty two thousand dollars year raise to bring
his salary up to four hundred and. Sixty two thousand
dollars are? These? GUYS worth it ose.

Speaker 1 (01:31:48):
I.

Speaker 32 (01:31:48):
Think this is alarming i'll share a.

Speaker 46 (01:31:50):
Couple of fun facts it's striking to me that out
of the, top ten superintendent salaries all of them Make
more than The President, of the united states and all
of them make more of Than. The governor, of texas
in fact over five hundred of them make more Than.

Speaker 32 (01:32:06):
The, governor of texas.

Speaker 2 (01:32:08):
Yeah that's pretty scary here's the other thing, that strikes me,
too because you know when, we think of schools we'd
like to think that the vast majority of the money is.
Going into the classroom. It's not just superintendents these, superintendents
have assistant superintendents and, then they underneath, them they have
principles and. They have assistant principles you take the hierarchy

(01:32:28):
of any public school and you've got an amazing amount
of people making a. Whole lot of money they don't
spend any time. Instructing in the classroom so the.

Speaker 46 (01:32:39):
Rising superintendent taleries mean that there is more EXPENSES being.
Used on ic personnel it also means that less tax
relief is being used to actually, reduce your, tax rate
and ultimately we the taxpers fut that bill a, higher
property tax, bills and in reality what it does.

Speaker 32 (01:32:56):
Is it erodes the public. Trust.

Speaker 46 (01:32:58):
In our officials uh the state has consistently done its part,
or this past session, the session before that and sending
tax relief, Back to the locals, but every, single time
these locals it's. Seemingly a recurring storyline, these greedy local,
governments your, school districts, your cities your counties see it as.

Speaker 32 (01:33:16):
An opportunity to jack. Up Your tax rate so i'm.

Speaker 46 (01:33:20):
In the in the boat of the next legislature not only,
needs to do relief but we. Need to do reform
there's a lot of reforms needed at the local level.

Speaker 25 (01:33:28):
To.

Speaker 32 (01:33:28):
Guard, our, GAINS.

Speaker 2 (01:33:30):
Well certainly again i think we're very top heavy when
it comes to most of. These public school systems how
did how did they get? To be that way how
did we go from having you know it used to
be a superintendent was, was pretty hands on pretty much.
In charge of everything now they just pretty much delegate their.
DUTIES to their assistance.

Speaker 46 (01:33:49):
I think we let it go, for far too long
and the legislature in recent times has, provided SOME legislative
solutions but i think these are going to gain more
steam because everyone is becoming more and more.

Speaker 32 (01:34:02):
Aware of the.

Speaker 46 (01:34:02):
Problem there's a couple of good solutions that came about.
This past legislative session, they DIDN'T go anywhere but i
think we're going to catch more steam, heading into next
session and that is limiting our. Capping salaries for superintendents
one solution was a superintendent can't make more than twice as.

Speaker 32 (01:34:21):
Any, classroom school teacher.

Speaker 2 (01:34:23):
Well that'd be, quite a. Pay cut wouldn't.

Speaker 4 (01:34:26):
It.

Speaker 2 (01:34:27):
That's, exactly right interesting okay we'll see if. Anything, Comes with,
That Jose, Thank You, Jose Melndez Campaign Director, texas public policy.

Radio seven forty ktrh paper plates are way seven fifty
two Is Sometime You're. ON houston's warning news i never
really understood the. WHOLE paper, plate thing i mean that
was always just the easiest thing in. The world to

(01:51:03):
corrupt there's not a lot of states. To do paper
plates i'm sure part of the reason was. It, Was
cost effective right it's easy to, Make a paper plate it's.
Cheap to do it, but the, problem is, of course
you know basically him in, nature, is to steal evidently
and a lot of stealing went on, with the paper
plates along with a lot of people hiding the fact

(01:51:26):
that they didn't have a vehicle that was registered to them.
Or didn't, have insurance, but today starting today no more paper.
PLATES will, be issued i mean you'll still see some
paper PLATES out there if i think the, next thirty
plus days maybe ninety days until the. Last of them,
expire but going forward you have to get when you

(01:51:46):
buy vehicle to either your plate's going to get transferred
or you're going to end up with a metal plate.
As a temporary plate here is the report on THIS Big. Change,
From cbs texas.

Speaker 42 (01:52:00):
Hello We're On Patrol with grand prairie police where a
fake tag is often.

Speaker 2 (01:52:05):
Hiding and Something worse the.

Speaker 4 (01:52:07):
Reason i'm stopping use the license plates on your.

Speaker 2 (01:52:09):
Car is not real what's?

Speaker 42 (01:52:10):
Going, On With It off sir thomas Barrettini Is With.
The vehicle crimes unit.

Speaker 35 (01:52:14):
You knew that the, license plate's not real and you put.

Speaker 2 (01:52:18):
It onto your vehicle you, understand.

Speaker 42 (01:52:21):
That's a crime right he's seen, this over and over
a fake tag slapped on a car to, hide what's
really missing no.

Speaker 2 (01:52:28):
Registration and no, insurance the plate itself the number comes back,
to a real car Comes. Back to a honda it just.
Doesn't wong on HERE so that's where, i would have
said right there is where it would, Have said. Up
exactly honda exactly but that. Was, that's the liver yeah

(01:52:49):
and look she's got her. Real license, Plate underneath.

Speaker 42 (01:52:52):
For years texas let car, dealers print temporary tags but
criminals turned that into a loophole copy print, and just like.

Speaker 2 (01:53:01):
That a ghost, car this. Is devastating it's devastating.

Speaker 42 (01:53:07):
In Twenty twenty three grand prairie's police she fought to
change the law after one of his officers was killed
chasing a car with.

Speaker 2 (01:53:15):
A fake paper tag.

Speaker 40 (01:53:17):
Fraudulent paper tags are the criminal instrument of, choice for, drug.

Speaker 2 (01:53:22):
Traffickers, human, smugglers auto. Theft rings, streak gangs.

Speaker 42 (01:53:27):
That Year lawmakers passed house bills seven eighteen banning, paper
tags for good but the law was put on hold
until NOW to give the dmv time to, build a
news system one that ties every plate to, a name
and address having.

Speaker 40 (01:53:44):
That information in advance are they a, document a, gang
member let's say or do they?

Speaker 2 (01:53:47):
Have a violent history how they tried to kill? A
police officer before wouldn't you think that'd be helpful for?
An officer right now before they went.

Speaker 42 (01:53:52):
Up to that window monday was the last day most
paper tags. Can legally be printed they'd, expire in Sixty days,
so by september first all of.

Speaker 2 (01:54:02):
Them, should be gone, okay by the way did you
know it is not illegal to? Sell a fake plate
do you think that might be. Part of the problem
it's not illegal to sell, a fake, plate, because after
all yo they might just want to put it on their,

(01:54:22):
bulletin board at, home or you know save it as.
Some sort of memorabilia Y'ALL remember that time i had
a Fake. Plate here in, texas here it is the
only thing that makes it illegal is if you put
it on a vehicle. And drive with it but the
intention of trying to get around the fact that you
are supposed, to register the car have, insurance on the

(01:54:44):
vehicle and have an actual working license plate. Registered to
that vehicle but, as you can tell there are plenty
of people who are. Willing to do it now here's
HERE'S the other. Question i would? HAVE what's, the penalty
i mean is it a, Slap on the wrist is
it just a minor fine or is it something, That
hurts a little because it seems to me if, it

(01:55:06):
hurts a little then that might get people. To stop
doing it my guess is probably it never hurt that much. From, a,
penalty standpoint listen y'all. Have a great day, see you
tomorrow morning bright and. Early at five am hope to
see you this AFTER at four on AM. Nine point
