Speaker 1 (00:00):
Christian Collins, joins us, founder of the Texas Use of It.
I don't know who they talked to, Christian, I don't
know the you know, the ins and outs of this
particular research piece. But what do you make of it?

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Well, thank you so much for having me on, Jimmy. Look,
you know, Poles can be skewed, and there are polls
out there and statistics out there to get whatever outcome
you want. But I know a really good poll from
George Barna, and this indicator is from twenty nineteen through
twenty twenty five, and it indicates that young men, especially

(00:31):
gen Z and Millennials, are trending upward as it relates
to their decision to commit and follow Jesus. And I
think Charlie Kirk's assassination only escalated those numbers. But we're
seeing a revival amongst our young people. And I believe
that a revival is a moment, but a great awakening,

(00:52):
that's something much more lasting that of which maybe we saw,
you know, earlier in the country's history George filled and
Jonathan Edwards and just people like that and maybe later
on Billy Graham, you know, and that there was more
sustained growth over a long period of time, but I
think we definitely saw a spike in the death of

(01:15):
Charlie Kirk.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
You think that Charlie Kirk's death was a great awakening,
at least for gen Z, Well, time will tell.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
I think it's you know, a great awakening is a
much bigger thing than a revival. A revival is a moment,
a great awakening as a movement, and so I think
it's going to be interesting to see what happens. I
sure hope that it's a great awakening, because we're all
praying for that, But I definitely see that it's been
a revival, and I think there's a lot of statistics

(01:43):
that back then. If you look at the fact that
we have one million more Bible cells at this point
this year than we did last year, according to a
Fox News statistic, and then we can also say assuredly
that you know, church attendance has been up fifteen percent
since Charlie Kirk's assassination, And maybe a lot of pastors
aren't giving Charlie Kirk credit for that, but it is true.

(02:06):
Nonethe lasted. I heard from Pastor Rob McCoy in Houston
the other day. He was here preaching out a church,
and he gave a lot of different statistics and just
talked about all the different events that are happening around
the country, and he's seeing it on the ground, and
so I definitely see it in my work here in
the Houston area, but I can attest to a lot

(02:27):
of different friends who are signaling that that's what they're
seeing across the country.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
We're talking to Christian Collins, founder of the Texas Youth Summon.
I wonder too, you know, getting back to that awakening
versus revival thing. To me, a revival is let's say
you went to church a lot as a youngster, your
parents took you to church. You came from a household
where church was at least a regular or semi regular
part of your life, and you maybe walked away from

(02:52):
it or got away from it, or just kind of elapsed,
and then something like Charlie Kirk happens and you go
get I need to go back to my roots, and
you go back. Can you do it again? The awakening
to me would be where people who have never were
brought up in a religious household, were never religious before,
just all of a sudden found their religion.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Yeah, and that can be kind of construed here in
the Bible Belt South, I think there's a lot of
people who are culturally Christian, but maybe just they don't
go to church, they're not active, but they would say
that they believe in God. But that's very different than
being you know, devout, where you go to church four
times a month and you know you're involved in Bible
studies and you're reading your Bible every day. That's that's

(03:34):
a much firmer commitment. And so I think just from
my personal experience, the conversations that I've had with friends
who were i would say nominally culturally Christian at best,
and now they're they're they're becoming inspired after the Charlie
Kirk assassination to want to get involved in church. I've
seen that firsthand, so I can attest to it.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Well, that's awesome because I think that's a part of
the revival of the traditional American family. I understand you're
in Germany, Christian.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
I am in Germany. I'm on my honeymoon, and I'm
just grateful for the opportunity to get to talk with you.
And as soon as someone reached out to me about
the story, I knew I had to speak up in
support of faith, and of course Charlie Kirk and everything
that he's meant to our organization, the Texas e Sient
So my bride Jenc, she's very gracious to let me do.
