I think I did it once.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
And what did you just say? Load in four k?
You're supposed to load the photo in four K? Matt?
Speaker 4 (00:34):
What are you talking about?
Speaker 2 (00:35):
I don't know how to load anything, okay, especially in
four k?
Speaker 4 (00:38):
Call you no load Thomas.
Speaker 5 (00:39):
You know, covering up windows and that kind of thing,
and you look, you gotta wrap your pipes.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
I mean that's that goes up.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
Always wrap your pipes night always.
Speaker 5 (00:46):
Well my pipsmen wrapped for a long time. You could
have covered my ass on this, but you didn't. You
fully exposed my ass instead of cover Again.
Speaker 4 (00:54):
You never bust geese, No, I've never busted che cheese before.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
I like length, you like that's how I typically worked
in rather than shorter and girthier.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
I feel like ladies and gentlemen.
Speaker 5 (01:09):
That that was AI. I don't think I've ever said
any of those things. Maybe once by accidents. It is
a Friday edisue.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
The Matt Thomas showed Ross coming to You from Dallas.
Speaker 5 (01:24):
Ross was in Minneapolis last night and had horrific nightmares
about Anthony Edwards scoring.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
All over the floor, especially the fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
Oh my god, at Edwards sixteen points in the fourth quarter.
The Houston Rockets sixteen points in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 6 (01:42):
You know, Okay, that's nice.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Thanks, not the way you want it to go. No, No,
how the hell are you By the way, I'm feeling better?
You sound sicker. No, I'm actually not sick at all.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
It's okay.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
The ten o'clock term, you're road weary. Yeah, that's yeah,
I go with that.
Speaker 6 (01:58):
That sounds about right.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
We got uh the head hit the pillow probably about
two fifty, So that's fine. It's good seven hours of sleep.
Speaker 5 (02:09):
You think I woke up at nine fifty. I don't
pull a Rossville around the road. When got me two
cups of coffee at six dollars a pop? Knock these
bad boys out in the first twenty minutes.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
Yeah, let's go. I don't want to hear you now,
catch me now. Sports are a game. Oh your duke's
are down?
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Yeah, my dukes are down, just like me and Dylan.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
Brooks now his dukes are always up.
Speaker 6 (02:30):
Man.
Speaker 5 (02:31):
I I love and look, we need to win, and
I'm gonna be honest with you. Five losses in a
row ain't fun, especially when you had such a great
season so far. But every time you watch a Rocket game,
there's a chance there's hands of.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
Being thrown and I love it.
Speaker 7 (02:45):
I do.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
It's fun. Yeah, they like to mix it up, get physical,
Naz said after the game.
Speaker 6 (02:50):
He likes that.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
I do too. It's compared to being, Oh, you're so
nice and sweet and business like. You know what with
a day you want to you want to push Dylan
Brooks down and Dylan wants to push you down. It's
all love and fair. It's all part of the game. Baby,
let's go. If you're Jack Lindell, want a four arm
shiit or somebody damn it. I'm Jack Lendell. I could
do that. He only did that because he got the
(03:12):
ball ripped from him by Nas Reid. Hey, that's not nice,
nas Red Oh sports Harvy. Five losses in a row
not great? You know why it's not great? Thunder three
wins in a row, Grizzlies four wins in a row.
Denver Nuggets have made up five games and five on you.
They've won five in a row, Lakers one, four in
(03:33):
a row, Timberwolves are six, they've won two in a row.
Everybody in the top six is on a winning streak
except you, that's on a five game losing streak. You've
gone from second to fourth, and you're now just one
game ahead of the Lakers in fifth. I think you
should call the room service at the hotel here and.
Speaker 6 (03:49):
Buy me breakfast. Make me feel better.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
I'm not spending seventy five dollars on pancakes. You can
you get a per diem? I don't want to hear it. Yeah,
but I want to save it for you know, maybe
forget to get you GIF later on the show. No,
all right, how are the calls last night? Were they
a little grumpy? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (04:06):
And first of all, they were there, which I appreciate those.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Folks for that. I love that we had a couple
of first time callers. People really wanted to sound off
on the Rockets losing five straight. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I appreciate the people.
Speaker 5 (04:20):
All right, Hey, let's talk about the radio program today
real quick. We are in I'm in Dallas. Ross, you're
back in Houston.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
By the way.
Speaker 5 (04:27):
It's nice to be in warm weather again. My god,
we left it was ten degrees in Minneapolis. I get
here to Dallas, it was like fifty eight. I was like,
it felt like it was like a heat wave. So
temperature is gonna be in the seventies here today. Very
happy about that. We have Emaid Doug is gonna join
us at eleven thirty this morning. He should be just full.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Of blanking giggles, right, should be great.
Speaker 5 (04:50):
Yeah, we'll have that coming up today, the news that knew,
like the strippers up there. We've got Ryan Hollins is
going to join us at one o'clock today, ROSSI uh,
we're gonna find out how Ryan surveys the NBA trade deadline,
the Ryan Hollins v Ryan Hollins.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
So he's just gonna get is she gonna come to
your room or what's happening?
Speaker 4 (05:08):
We'll call him.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Okay, I only have a single input here in this
unit that I'm carrying.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
You guys can share the mic.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
It would be a little awkward. Yeah, oh, phone is fine, okay.
Speaker 5 (05:20):
Non Florida story is at one thirty, and believe it
or not, today reasons why Eli Manning did not make
the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
He's gonna get in eventually, and he doesn't deserve It
was that a thing on social media last night. Everybody
grumpy about it. Oh my god. Everyone was acting like
they just didn't let Joe Montana in. It was ridiculous
how quickly we forget Matt. I know I sound like
an old person because I am an old person now. Yeah,
And I mean, come on, man, Eli Manning was not
(05:52):
a top five in most years, not even a top
ten quarterback in the NFL. He went on two magical
playoff runs. I understand everyone's like, he beat the goat.
He beat the goat, He beat the goat. Yeah, but
he also had a sixteen year career of mostly mediocrity.
You and I differ on a lot of things, but
we share the same sentiment about the about hall of Fames.
Speaker 5 (06:14):
First of all, basketball Hall of Fame is a joke.
Oh god, it's I mean, if you if you bounce
the ball in an NBA game, you got in the
Hall of Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
I think so if you coach one game in Czechoslovakia
back in the seventies, you got in the Hall of Fame.
Samaki Walker elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame. Yes,
well yeah, samaki Walker. He said, let's see, Uh, Christian
Wood is an international contributor.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (06:38):
Point being, Uh, Baseball's done a better job.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
But still they allow some folks in.
Speaker 5 (06:43):
It takes a wall for some people to get in,
but they get in the Pro Football Hall of Fame,
they get they're they're stingy about it, but eventually, if
you've done anything in your life, like when a couple
of Super Bowls, like obviously Eli has done, you're gonna
get into.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
I've just I think we've done.
Speaker 5 (06:59):
We've done the last thirty years as we've made all
these Halls of fame. The halls are very good as
compared to the Halls of fame. The fame is Joe Montana,
Jerry Rice.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
It is uh you know, uh, Johnny and Nidas. Yeah,
the elites of the elites, and Eli Manning was not
the elites of the elites. Yeah. I mean Troy Aikman
is in Troy really really really good.
Speaker 5 (07:25):
Yeah, But am I going to Traigman to get me
eighty yards and sixty five seconds to win a game?
Speaker 2 (07:31):
If you got that offensive line and him, it Smith. Maybe, yeah,
you put you put Treigman behind the Texans two thousand
and two offensive line or the twenty twenty four offensive line. Eh,
not gonna happen. Yeah, car by the way being considered
for that. Yeah, I think he's gonna get into My goodness.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
It is thirty seventh year of eligibility.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
In sixteen years as a as a starter, or maybe
it was more like fifteen years for Eli and he
made people keep saying four Pro Bowls, four Pro Bowls
to those he was an alternate. He was only named
to two in sixteen years. Yeah, it's one of those
things rossing. I just don't get it. I mean I
get it because people just over time, time withers away
(08:17):
Matt and the only thing that stands is the two
Super Bowl championships. People forget how mediocre he was as
a quarterback.
Speaker 5 (08:24):
I mean I would I would actually peg him a
little bit above mediocre. But I'm okay, yeah, you know
what peg in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
You're right, I would say he had a lot of
mediocre seasons. He had a few good seasons.
Speaker 5 (08:35):
Yeah, but when he Here's the thing about it, the
revisionist history. They couldn't get rid of him fast enough
in New York, and.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Then after they haven't had a quarterback since he left,
they're like, oh, man, we miss you, Eli, We we
undervalued you. No, you were.
Speaker 6 (08:49):
He was good.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
He's really really good.
Speaker 5 (08:53):
But again my seeing eye tests and this is very simple,
and maybe it's too simplistic. I got, you know, like
John Away eighty yards and two minutes, did it regularly?
Speaker 2 (09:04):
Hall of fame, Absolutely no doubt about it. Peyton Manning,
Hall of Fame, Eli Manning. I mean, I mean good,
really good. But Hall of Fame. You're gonna make a
bus out of that guy. I don't know, all right?
Speaker 5 (09:24):
Uh, ROSSI isn't Anything goes Friday on The Matt Tamas
Show with Ross seven to one three two one two

Speaker 8 (09:33):

Speaker 2 (09:33):

five seven ninety is the phone number you've heard our
mid day drugs here on the program. We got a
long leash on this show. It gets even longer on
a Friday. Anything you want to get to at seven
one three two one two five seven ninety if you

Speaker 4 (09:53):

Speaker 2 (09:55):
Are they gonna bounce back and stay in the top
four in the West? Super Bowl coming up this weekend.
Do you want to pick the Eagles and feel like
an idiot what they lose when they lose? Or are
you gonna go with the Chiefs? We shall see as well.
Also super Bowl party tips from Matt Thomas if you'd
like to get in on anything goes Friday at seven one, three, two,
(10:15):

Speaker 5 (10:15):

not gonna text. I'm sortay a tweet thread right now
about that.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
We want your super Bowl party tips seven to one, three,
two one two five seven.
Speaker 9 (10:25):
Natty, this is the Matt Thomas Show with Ross on
four Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
It isn't ainything goes Friday ten nineteen on Sports Talk
seven ninety. Matt here from Dallas, rossback at Houston. Well
we reunite everybody on Monday, back of the studios. Uh So,
obviously it was calling the Rockets and Wolves last name
last night in Minneapolis.
Speaker 6 (10:48):
So I did not see the.
Speaker 5 (10:51):
NFL Award Show, which is a big extravaganza in New
Orleans and Snoop Dogg.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
I don't know if he was hosting the show or
had a segment or whatever, but this happening to show
up on the old for U tab Rossie, and I
thought it was very interesting. With my good friend a man,
I completely choked when I saw him coming in my direction.
I was in the direction didn't speak to him, which
is one of my greatest gaffes of all time. Had
to say about a couple of things last night at
the NFL Awards.
Speaker 10 (11:16):
Because I've been a football fan for a long long time.
I mean, I remember back when the Cowboys was good,
I remember back when the Chiefs was bad, and I
remember what was it. Bill Belichick's girlfriend wasn't even born yet.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
I mean, first of all, that's a hit. I mean,
I don't care. They can go ooh and ah they
want to. Second of all, she is stunning ross I mean, okay,
let's go, man, this is I mean a bit of
a five head, but she's yeah, she's really hot. She's
(12:06):
twenty four years old. Okay, let's break this down like, uh,
here we go, we're a therapist, Okay, we go.
Speaker 5 (12:16):
She's obviously looking for cash. I mean, maybe she's looking
for love Matt.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
She got some serious daddy issues. Clearly she's got granddaddy issues.
I believe, so seventy two years so you could be
a grand You can be a grandfather at forty eight, right,
that's not that's a little early, but that's not a
grandfather in thirty Matt, It come on now, well gross,
but that's definitely prime early grandfather stage.
Speaker 5 (12:42):
First of all, kudos to Bill Belichick. I mean, he's
won five rings. This might be as great as accomplishment ever.
You know why it's so good because he did it
without Tom Brady.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
Tom Brady had nothing to do with Jordan Hudson hooking
up with Bill Belichick. And you don't know that you
know her name? Now, Oh, you're deeping the game. No man,
I'm just looking at what you're deep in. You're deeper
than looking up the I G game. I see you.
Did you see that dress you wore last night? I
mean there is not an ounce of belly fit anywhere
near that. Yeah, she's some. It's this Matt alone in
(13:19):
his Dallas hotel room at three.
Speaker 4 (13:21):
I have only been here, are you kidding me?
Speaker 2 (13:23):
Away?
Speaker 4 (13:23):
Till after the show.
Speaker 5 (13:27):
I was wife, my wife one day in three weeks.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
That's why we call you pent up Thomas.
Speaker 5 (13:40):
These new state codes about ethical websites is bothering me
quite a bit.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
Oh my god. M So are we characterizing this as
daddy issues or granddaddy issues. We're characterizing this as she's
looking for love and Bill Belichick is just the charmer.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
She was looking for, Matt.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
And what you How did they meet?
Speaker 4 (14:02):
I don't know. Was she a former Patriots cheerleader?
Speaker 2 (14:05):
I don't I don't even know where she's from. The
para met on a flight when she was a college student.
They happened to be sitting next to each other. Ah,
she asked him to sign one of her textbooks.
Speaker 4 (14:21):
Oh my god, this is almost like borderline.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Oh man, what a move. Good for you, billy oldhound dog.
I mean he signed his number on that, like when
you're in the like when you're in high school and
you signed the yearbook. He put his number in there.
Probably by the way, you're getting ridiculed for calling her
a five head. That's awful. You should know better than
look at it. Look okay, look she's beautiful. I would
(14:45):
marry her tomorrow. That's not what we're talking about. I'm
just I just as someone who had forehead issues when
I was growing up.
Speaker 5 (14:52):
I resent that remark. I also resemble it sadly. Anyways, anyways,
it's I mean, is this like Anona Cole Smith with
that old dude creepy close?
Speaker 2 (15:10):
I don't think Belichick's that close to death. No, and
he was a billionaire, but they're forty eight years difference.
She was charmed by him on the plane. Did you
ever hit it off with somebody you're sitting next to
you on the plane? Yes, see, but she wasn't nine.
I mean, god, that's ridiculous. Yeah, but you're not. You're
not a five time super Bowl champion or six times
(15:31):
or seven whatever he is now? All right if you
count the if you count the Giant's rings, then he
got like ten super Bowl rings.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
Almost at this.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
Point, like all right, here's wont you you do? A
good Bill Belichick? I want I can't do it any
I don't know why I lost it over the last year.
I can't explain to try it. We're gonna we're gonna
turn up Verry White little bit more. And I want
you to pretend you're on that plane, and I want
you to I want you to sweet talker. Let's go.
Uh well, okay, well you have to be the girl.
How does this even work? Okay, we're sitting there.
Speaker 6 (16:00):
Uh my name is our name is Jordan.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
How do you like the middle seat?
Speaker 6 (16:06):
I'd like to get in the middle of you. That
got creepy quick. All right, that's enough. But that's that's
plenty half.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
No other radio show in the marketplace is going to
give you one sentence of Bill Belichick impersonation automatically becoming
all right, that's okay, none of that either, No growling.
Speaker 6 (16:24):
What's up?
Speaker 2 (16:26):
We're on the Cincinnati and my throat is sore too.
That should make it better. Actually, oh, what is going
on with you in your health?
Speaker 6 (16:32):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
I've had a two week cold. It's ridiculous. Are you
taking anything? I think I might be dying.
Speaker 6 (16:37):
I'm getting the whooping cough.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
I'm spreading it to everyone at the office.
Speaker 5 (16:42):
Who is apparently a big problem right now. You want
to see that's why eggs are costing more? Do you
see who's charging you fifty cents more per egg when
you go to eat there now?
Speaker 2 (16:53):
McDonald's boffel mouse, boffle mouse. Yeah, the eggs are expensive.
I think a bunch of them. There have been fires.
I don't know what's going on. Yeah, it's the bird
flu is the number one reason. Why not the H
one in one? I think it's just a go old
fashioned bird flu. So, yeah, the eggs are costing significantly
more than they's unfortunate. So if you go to a
(17:13):
baffle nouse, you're gonna see a sticker that's been put
on the you know, the little placard thing they show
you that gives you like how to cook your hash
browns and your waffles, and it just puts the analysis
add fifty cents.
Speaker 6 (17:25):
Per egg.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
Pandemic inflation. And yes, the H five in one m.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
He has like five dollars for a dozen regular old
grocery store brand eggs.
Speaker 5 (17:41):
Yeah, and I don't go grocer shopping for eggs, so
I don't even know what normally what do eggs cost
to fifty typically?
Speaker 2 (17:48):
Uh, yes, somewhere around there. Three bucks may Pensbraska. Stay
at home mom, how much your eggs cost? Yeah, I
think you can get it for two bucks. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (17:58):
I normally just buy him and don't look.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
Yeah, because whatever the egg prices and the egg prices, right,
you don't go egg shopping, right.
Speaker 5 (18:04):
If you want a cage, if you want to try
and package three all that or two liters, so you
don't you don't even look at the cost of that.
I mean they could charge nine dollars for a bottle
of seven up. You know, you wouldn't know.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
Shouldn't the cage free be dominated? Now they're all out
of the cage, not giving each other h five in one.
Speaker 5 (18:21):
I don't know if the habitation little bits uh are
with eggs and hands and whatnot. I don't know, all right,
sop about the Super Bowl coming up? Let's break it down.
Speaker 6 (18:35):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (18:36):
By the way, Aria Alexander Channel two says, the uh
Bregman offer has been increased a little bit, Yes he did.
Speaker 6 (18:42):
What does a little bit mean?
Speaker 2 (18:44):
I don't know, like one MILLI.
Speaker 11 (18:47):
For you and me?
Speaker 12 (18:47):
Man?
Speaker 2 (18:47):
If I had excrease an offer on you, that's fifty bucks.
Speaker 4 (18:49):
What is it for this way?
Speaker 2 (18:50):
What is it for one hundred and fifty six million
dollar contract?
Speaker 5 (18:53):
Let's say he gets a cost of living adjustment every
year three percent of one hundred and fifty six million dollars, well,
ten percent, it's fifteen million, five percent seven he's getting the.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
Three Maybe he's getting a three and a half million
dollars cost of living adjustment for the price of eggs
going up.
Speaker 5 (19:10):
Is that what it is Bregman can't buy is worried
about the egg cost and the reason why he's holding
out hope he's.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Getting one to seventy five. I don't know, all right,
So Bregman update, it's coming up on the show today.
We've got Amy Adoka coming up. We've got you guys
coming in and anything goes.
Speaker 5 (19:27):
Friday, and we've got super Bowl party tips which we
will continue to knock out throughout the course of the show.
I have put a tweet out asking me asking you
to tell us your super Bowl party tips.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
I've got one ross.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
It just came in.
Speaker 5 (19:39):
Huh it comes from Oh, it comes from someone we know.
It says, don't insult my fried cheese.
Speaker 4 (19:46):
Oh where that's from.
Speaker 6 (19:50):
That?
Speaker 4 (19:50):
I have no idea where that could have come from.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
It's coming from ninety four. He can only come from
Costco because that's where they came from. No, it says
here I burn than myself. That's not true, okay, And
which point they add some salt.
Speaker 5 (20:06):
Seven one three two one two five seven ninety seven
three two one two five seven eighty. This is Matt
Tomaschill Rossim here and Dallas rossback in Houston. And a
word right now for the Shell Federal Credit Union. I
want you to be able to take advantage of three
point nine nine percent ap Y on a auto loan.
Brain new vehicle you're getting this year. Don't go through
(20:27):
the manufacturer. Why don't you go through the Shell Federal
Credit Union. I did that for my daughter's vehicle and
got a great low interest rate, got two hundred and
fifty dollars in cash back. We had a couple of
skip to pays which we took July and December off
for a few years. That was kind of cool. And
you can also ask about deferred payments all through shell
FCU dot org. Shell FCU dot org for that eight
(20:49):
the annual interest rate of three point nine nine percent
up to thirty six months, Shell Federal Credit Union, two
fifty cash back for the auto loans, shell EFCU dot org.
Anything goes Friday on Sports Talk seven HOTI Matten Ross
with you here. If we take this program until two
o'clock this afternoon. Our friend Brian T.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Smith was on the show yesterday covering the Super Bowl
for Talk Sports, the sports network out of the United Kingdom. Ross.
I don't we may have barely. Maybe i'd mentioned a
little bit of the ship Tom Brady did not shoot
from media day with the Fox folks. Is that just
him being the uber uber super diva that he is.
Speaker 4 (21:35):
I have no idea has has an explanation been provided?
Speaker 2 (21:38):
Not a word. I don't think you think he's an
uber diva when it comes to being a He's not
going to show up to this part of this meeting
because you think he's better than everyone else. I think
I pretty much hit an iron on the head. Okay,
that was it. You knocked it out of one sentence.
I don't believe that. He probably had his reasons. Maybe
he was in an owner's meeting.
Speaker 6 (21:58):
Ooh, that's a little sensitive.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
No, he was not an older's meaning they don't meet
during this week. Okay, they focus exclusively on the two
teams that are there, so uh, yeah, it was an
informal one and probably a lot of the owners are
in New Orleans. Yeah. More that you think they're throwing
You think they're throwing dice in a high lemon area.
They might be. That'd be cool. Could you imagine if
(22:22):
you got.
Speaker 5 (22:22):
NFL owners all over the place and uh, you're sitting
there just playing cards, and all of a sudden, Tom
Brady sits in and says, I'm in for three million.
Speaker 6 (22:32):
M.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
That seems like a bad investment for Tom Brady. Yeah,
well he's done. He Uh well, he did Crypto that
didn't work out well for him. Oh I got I
think that he got all that money from them, didn't
he did he have to give some back? I don't know,
but that was the That was the biggest joke at
his rose in LA was all the the FTX Yeah yeah,
all right, okay, so we've I got a tweet out
(22:53):
and that says give us your super Bowl party tips.
And again, uh something called Tesa Rock said, don't make
fun of that. You're such a liar cheese. That was
one of the worst moments I've ever been around. I
wanted to crawl in a hole and die after you did.
Why that felt bad for you? Ross?
Speaker 4 (23:11):
Why do you feel bad for me? She was coming
after you with scissors for some reason.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
See, now, you're just inventing stuff that didn't happen at
the party. Was on this radio show.
Speaker 4 (23:20):
That's a lot.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
Yeah, that your imagination is one of one at rsjr
DK says, don't host the party and use a streaming
service to play the game. Oh okay.
Speaker 5 (23:30):
First of all, if you don't have real television like
cable or satellite, you can't host the party. You can't
host the game.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
You can't do it.
Speaker 4 (23:39):
Why not, You're gonna have buffering issues?
Speaker 2 (23:41):
What about mayor Mount Muss got into the five G
It's all good, it's twenty twenty five.
Speaker 4 (23:46):
Nope.
Speaker 5 (23:46):
I went to a NCAA tournament party for my cougars.
This is gone back three or four years ago, Rossie,
when I wasn't able to travel with.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
Them, and the guy's house it went to he had
RUU TV and r rube red Tube. I'll go with that.
Speaker 4 (24:06):
How about that Now that's what you use on the road.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
And so we were watching the game and then it
would buffer and freeze and it would go back three minutes.
He'd spend like ten minutes going back and forth hitting
the forward advance.
Speaker 4 (24:19):
No, you're at the That is absolutely right. Rsjr DK.
Speaker 5 (24:22):
You cannot, under any circumstance host a party if you're
using a streaming service to use the game to watch
the game. That's number one at BDZ seventeen. There's no
talking during the commercials.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
Yeah, but people are gonna talk. Here's the thing, though,
spend the more people you the more people you invite. Now,
if you give it a tight crew, it can happen.
But the more people you invite, the more it's going
to be out of control.
Speaker 5 (24:48):
There's no chance if you invite ten people to your
house and ten people are gonna say silent for every
commercial break. And secondly, the commercials if you miss them,
so what, they'll be on the web. But then five
minutes after they get aired.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
That's true, but you but you want to see it
in real time because then you're gonna spend extra time
watching all the commercials. Plus how you want you gonna
go eat and go to the bathroom and stuff. I
know it's very difficult. You got to go to the
bathroom during the game. It makes that awkward advance towards
your best friend's wife.
Speaker 4 (25:16):
Now, that's in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 5 (25:17):
Mat okay, Ragnar says, Jello and funeral potatoes. That's for
those of you that are in the LDS community. That
would be your bit. Funeral potatoes. Funeral it's a it's
a Mormon side dish. It's like a potato cast for
all kind of thing. All right, that we're that From
(25:37):
what I understand, we're served primarily at funeral receptions. That's
the reason they're called funeral potatoes. I'll take your word
for it. I'm not of LDS faiths. I don't know exactly,
but I know that they are corn flakes on this thing.
Uh no, but my wife makes a cornflake potato dish.
Speaker 6 (25:53):
It's excellent.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
Really, Oh, it's so good. I'll take your word for it. Yeah, yeah,
it's it's excellent. And then Ryan says, you gotta take
a shot for every flag. Ooh, now you you're going
to die. Don't do that, folks, Well think about it.
That's fort yea. Lets see, what does the average NFL
game have? About ten flags? Maybe maybe maybe a little
to say more, twelve flags, twelve shots.
Speaker 5 (26:18):
You're not making it to half time to watch the
greatest entertainer of all time entertainers.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
For twelve minutes thirteen point one five this year?
Speaker 6 (26:27):
Ooh, yikes, that's not good.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
All right?
Speaker 5 (26:32):
Seven one three, two one two five seven nine. If
you want to get in and join our conversation today,
as with.
Speaker 6 (26:37):
The game is stuping?
Speaker 2 (26:38):
Are you getting a little more fired up?
Speaker 8 (26:39):
Ross?
Speaker 2 (26:39):
Are we gonna be fired up? You have not these
lame people like you. It's the best teams. So wait,
take right now. First of all, I'm not lame. Secondly,
I'm not going to live up to hype over and
over and over again.
Speaker 5 (26:56):
Put the damn game on at five thirty, Let's hear
the national anthem. Let's let's take some bets on coin flips,
and let's watch four and a half hours of excellent
football with a very mediocre halftime guest.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
Boom. But I'm not gonna give you five days of
breakdown analysis. Who I know you're not Matt, I don't know.
I like football, so I'm gonna watch football.
Speaker 3 (27:19):
I'm not saying that's why you were teams. Was not
gonna spend four days in previewing it. Let's go through
the Texans. Let's go through the Chiefs linebackers versus the
Eagles offensive line.
Speaker 2 (27:31):
Who is the advantage I'm gonna go with the I'm
gonna go with the Eagles linebacker and crew because of
your mama. See that's the capital analysis you're getting over.
Speaker 3 (27:40):
Like I've listened to these radio row interviews that Gordy's
getting everybody's talking about.
Speaker 5 (27:44):
First of all, everybody's plugging their products. That cost a
couple of nostalgic questions. And then third it's uh, who
do you like in the game? And why you know
it's Pat Mahomes. How do you go against Mat Mahomes?
Speaker 4 (27:53):
Well, thanks a lot for that.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
Really appreciate that breakdown. One of the do you know
Frank Isola is? Yes, he does. He's on the Around
the Horn show.
Speaker 6 (28:04):
Yes, that very good.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
He's also do his NBA radio.
Speaker 12 (28:07):
I was.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
I saw him at the Nets game in the day
and he was asking me about doing the Rockets.
Speaker 4 (28:11):
Games plus doing a daily show.
Speaker 5 (28:12):
And he goes, the NFL is the best sport to
talk about the day after the game, but it's the
worst sport to preview a game because you're sitting there
for like five or six days talking about the same
crap over and over again.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
I said, Frank, we here at the Matt Thomas oll
Ross do a little bit differently. We run the gamut
of different topics. If we run the we gam it.
Oh good job, I.
Speaker 4 (28:37):
Can't say gambit anymore. You'll make fun of me.
Speaker 5 (28:38):
I can't do it somehow because it was not correct. Correct,
that's where you wanted to do it. It's your accuracy.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
So speaking of accuracy, Anthony Edwards, I'm looking at the
box score. He was love it a twenty five. It
wasn't great in the third, wasn't great in the second.
Speaker 6 (28:56):
Ross even to the free.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
Throw line fifteen times, it made fourteen of them.
Speaker 4 (29:00):
He got failed a lot.
Speaker 6 (29:03):
He has made.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
I think he was sixteen to seventeen. Then hold on,
I can tell you right now the night before he
was seventeen or eighteen.
Speaker 5 (29:09):
So he in two nights he went at the free
throw line thirty three times and made thirty one of them. Wow,
if you're the NBA and I don't, we have to
some other things that Bregman update here. If you're the NBA,
do you build around that guy? Now, he is a
swear machine, so he's not gonna be on sesame streaming
(29:30):
time soon. But can you build the NBA? We were
talking about stars and how to market that guy can play.
He could absolutely play.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
Yeah, I think he's one of the marketable young stars
for the NBA. He's been in some movies, he's been
on some commercials and stuff. I think his his star
is budding. But do you can you market a guy
that's been fine one hundred thousand dollars for criticizing officials
and swearing on television?
Speaker 4 (29:58):
He might not want to, but I mean, what, well
then choice you got no?
Speaker 6 (30:01):
No? All right?
Speaker 5 (30:02):
Bragmant updates straight ahead. It is the Matt Thomas Show
with Ross seven one three two one two five seven
ninety seven one three two one two five seven nine
zero on Twitter. Find us at Sports MT, at Sports RV,
and at Connor d McGovern seven one three two one
two five seven ninety Matten Ross return return on Sports
(30:26):
Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
Ten forty nine Anything goes Friday, Sports Talk seven ninety
Matt and Ross with you Connor our producer. We've got
em Doka coming up in about forty minutes from now.
Speaker 4 (30:42):
The News at noon.
Speaker 5 (30:43):
Ryan Hollins with us at one o'clock talking about the
trades in the NBA non floora stories and hell yeah
or not. Time for us to give you something we're
getting on a daily basis. And now I'm finally starting
to see some fatigue about this report.
Speaker 4 (30:57):
We present to you an update on one Alex P.
Bregman oh Ma.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
You Ross the show. The bit's never going away much
distagrine of something, all right, Apparently the Astros to improve
their initial offer to Bregman. Now that could be just
texting somebody saying, have you improved your offer? Yes, Okay,
(31:29):
I'm going with it. I mean, when you don't give
away specifics, that means probably the improvement is not that much,
Ryan Ross. I mean, if you.
Speaker 5 (31:39):
Really, if you really, really really wanted to get the
word out that the dollar amount is going to be changing,
that's going to force It's going to alter Alex's opinion.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
Don't you throw the number out? I don't know, because
we've known about six one fifty six for a about
six weeks now, Yes, I think. I think originally it
was Bob Nightingale and then mctiger kind of followed that
up shortly after that. That that number has been there.
Speaker 5 (32:10):
I mean it when you, let's say, improved again, eving's
relative like if you weigh two ninety four today and
you you're yesterday, and you were you were you were,
you were weighed three hundred and two days ago.
Speaker 4 (32:22):
You improved, but it's still you're still fat. Okay, Yeah,
I'm just gonna tell you.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
I don't know. I mean, we can speculate. I guess, yeah, yeah,
what's the Mountain's business? You did it go up to
one to eighty?
Speaker 13 (32:36):
No?
Speaker 4 (32:37):
How much did it improve? Was it one millionaire? Two
million year?
Speaker 2 (32:39):
I have no clue. Yeah, that to me, I think
if you wanted word to get out that the dollar
amount was significantly improved, you're you want to get that
number floated out?
Speaker 6 (32:51):
You just do.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
Does this mean that there was contact between Dana Brown
and Scott Morris, No, it just means internal conversations. For Ross,
they've been internal for a while. And if you've upped
the offer, that has to go external. You kid just
off the offer. Don't tell anybody. I would think so,
and you wouldn't just tell. I mean, Arian Alexander's been
doing a great job of getting on top of this,
but he wouldn't be the only one you tell. You'd
tell Pregnant's representation. Yeah, trust me, very he's not whole.
(33:18):
Dana's not texting uh Arian saying we've improved it. We
just haven't told him like week, he's not saying I
can't get an outside line every time about dollar nine
at the ASTROS Officely I can't get out. Maybe Scott
Boris has blocked his number.
Speaker 5 (33:32):
M It's like Dana is like, I keep texting Scott
and it doesn't say delivered.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
Wonder why. Very odd, But I will.
Speaker 5 (33:46):
Say this, I'm starting and again for you is not
the indicator, but there are people that very active and
involved and loved their astros can run to social media
with a variety of things.
Speaker 4 (33:59):
Fatigue is starting kicking a little bit, like what more
do you want?
Speaker 2 (34:03):
And I think the number one thing I'm seeing from fans,
the people that I follow, and also the for you
is that it's pretty clear that Alex doesn't want to
come back here. That's not no, it's pretty clear that
Alex Bregman wants to make the most money possible.
Speaker 6 (34:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
Also to me, it's clear he thought he would get
way better than the deal the Astros have offered. Any
hass right right, Yeah, Yeah, I don't know. Like I said,
he's not gonna be worried about a meal for the
rest of his adult life, nor will his kids kids
be worried about their meals.
Speaker 6 (34:42):
But it's.
Speaker 2 (34:45):
I think mo Wason Nightingale yesterday said he's still holding
out for a six or seven year deal. Well, he's
got a six year deal. There's one sitting there apparently,
or if it's still there, I'm just presuming it still is.
It's a magical seventh theory is looking you know what
he wants to do. He doesn't want to go through
this again.
Speaker 4 (35:02):
You're right, And.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
I think it's too late in the game.
Speaker 5 (35:05):
To be thinking about holding out Hope again unless somebody
cracks an ankle during spring training workouts. I mean, there
are teams that would take him in a heartbeat again.
If the Astros sign him today, they're better today than
they were yesterday.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
Yes, And it's the number one thing I want all
of you that are having a little bit of bregnant
fatigue to get over past is that he still helps
this team. This is not a get right now.
Speaker 5 (35:29):
As currently put together, this is a baseball team that
is not the favorite to win the American League. It's
a team that's a favorite to maybe small throvorit to
win the American League West. And obviously things can happen
in anything.
Speaker 2 (35:41):
During a playoff series.
Speaker 5 (35:42):
But if you were to diagnose and run through all
the different teams in the American League, probably the Astros
of the third or fourth favorite to win the Pennant,
and that team that wins the Pennant ross will go
to with the Los Angeles Dodgers and will keep beaten
sounding in four straight games by a total of about
fifty five runs of three.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
Are the Dodgers just gonna win the next five World
Series or next ten?
Speaker 6 (36:03):
Yep?
Speaker 2 (36:04):
And by the way, it will not be a dynasty.
It'll just be that you just cash wheed cash whipt
of everybody. That's what it is. They can even suffer,
like they have like seven viable dominant starters. They can
even suffer a bunch of injuries.
Speaker 5 (36:17):
Yeah, yeah, they can. And you know what, I respect
teams that will spend money, I get it. But the
Dodgers are a different animal. They get to keep fifty
two percent of an enormous television contract deal that no
other teams get and maybe the Yankees get it with yes,
but the third But twenty eight teams of Major League
(36:38):
Baseball don't make as much television money as the Los
Angeles Dodgers do. I think the Dodgers television deal fifty
two percent of the money they acquired through their television
rights go directly to them. They have to split the
other forty eight with the other Major League Baseball teams.
But the Astros deal, and look, I don't know the books,
but the Astros get pennies literally ross pennies on the
(37:00):
dollar to what they ink for the Dodgers get on
their TV deal. Gota remember if you those of you
who don't know, AT and T told the Astros and
Rockets a couple of years ago, we out of the
TV business. We're not doing this regional TV bit. It's
a loss for us. We're gonna hand you over the company.
We're gonna give you all the equipment, we're gonna let
you have the space on direct TV and the cables,
(37:22):
but we're not paying you anymore. It's yours. So the
Rockets and Astros inherited. They created their own TV network
and they're trying to piecemeal getting some television broadcast rights
to the different systems and advertising. But the Dodgers have
this locked and loaded, ridiculously large amount of money that
they get every year that Kansas City will never touch Cincinnati, Colorado, Houston,
(37:45):
San Diego, Hell. Half the teams in Major League Baseball
ross their television production and their network is run through
Major League Baseball because these TV networks are evaporating.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
No, you're wrong, Matt. Every team can spend just like
the Dodge, they choose not to shut up passing Douche Seriously,
if he is in Florida while we're there, I'm gonna
air guitar for hours in front of him while he
air drums. You guys can get an air band going. No,
(38:18):
you don't what gonna do? Worse? No, I'm gonna sing
while he's trying to write. That's rude.
Speaker 4 (38:24):
So what's the name of his favorite group? Is what
tode the wet Sprocket?
Speaker 2 (38:28):
Is that what it is? He was listening to a
lot of rage against the machine? Okay, I'm gonna I'm
gonna start singing some rage against the machine songs.
Speaker 14 (38:35):
You are?
Speaker 2 (38:36):
Yeah, you goes Zach Dela roach on us?
Speaker 6 (38:38):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (38:39):
Would I be?
Speaker 4 (38:39):
Would I be good doing it? I think you yeah,
I think you'd be great, Matt, You'd be perfect.
Speaker 2 (38:43):
All right, I'm gonna memorize him on the flight to
to Palm Beach.
Speaker 6 (38:49):
Mm hmmkay all right.
Speaker 5 (38:51):
Uh ten fifty seven on Sports Talk seven ninety seven
one three two one two five is seven niney. If
you want to get in seven one three two one
two five nine zero.
Speaker 2 (39:01):
On Twitter, you can.
Speaker 5 (39:02):
Follow us at sports Empt, at sports RV and at
Connor d McGovern. Rockets losing streak has hit five. Are
you panicking or are you saying this was eventually going
to happen? What is your thoughts on the state of
the Rockets right now? Plus who you got in the
Super Bowl? That's simple, Eagles or Chiefs, and as really
(39:27):
a eighty percent of America rooting for the Eagles has
Chiefs fatigue kicked in. We'll get to all that at
seven one three two one two five seven ninety seven
to one three two one two five seven Nati at
sports Empt, at Connor d McGovern at Sports RV, as
(39:47):
well as we take this show until two o'clock this afternoon.
I want to tell you about Callahan and Associates. I
have been very pleased to represent them. You know, there's
a lot of different companies out there that just yell
and spend crazy amounts of money on commercials that make
absolutely no sense.
Speaker 2 (40:04):
And how about just.
Speaker 5 (40:05):
Getting with a real life lawyer who is going to
take care of you when it comes to any sort
of injury status situations involving an accident or something can
happen at work through no fault to your own. That's
why you call Scott Callan Callahannan Associates. You don't waste
your time with somebody that's throwing things against a window
or screaming at the top of their lunges. You want
somebody that's gonna fight for you. Someone's gonna actually know
(40:26):
your first name. You're not gonna be sent off to
the junior attorney who's got less than a year experience.
You're gonna call Scott Callahannon Associates. It's seven one three
eight eight eight nine thousand, and they're gonna listen for you.
Speaker 6 (40:39):
They're gonna help you.
Speaker 5 (40:39):
They're gonna take no money up front, they're gonna take
no out of pocket for you. They're gonna handle the
headache of dealing with the insurance companies so you can
get back on your feet.
Speaker 2 (40:47):
Seven one three eight eight eight nine thousand. Seven one three,
eight eight eight nine thousand. We help Texas dot Com.
If you've been involved in an accident through no fault
to your own, you need Scott Callahanon Associates three eight
eight eight nine thousand, or we help Texas dot com
for Scott Callahan and Associates Principal office Katie Texas.
Speaker 1 (41:10):
Yeah, lunchtimers, this is the Matt Thomas show web side three.
Speaker 3 (41:15):
By the way, another one, Anthony Edwards with a three ball.
That's eight in the first quarter for him alone in Manducas.
I've seen enough of that. Edwards across mid court. Double
team comes, Shangoon chases him.
Speaker 2 (41:32):
Now Edwards's left hand laft. Nobody came to help out
once it got past alperin Shangoon. And that's the first
lead for the Wolves since thirty seven. Thirty six early
second quarter, Edwards straight away having a twenty six footer
up spinning, and it's taken over ten of the last
(41:53):
twelve Minnesota points. Blonde Edwards, He's got thirty.
Speaker 4 (41:55):
Six and he finished with forty one.
Speaker 5 (42:00):
Scored ninety points in forty eight hours rossvil Rial. That's
what Anthony Edwards did, forty one of them against the
Rockets as Houston loses.
Speaker 6 (42:07):
Won twenty seven to one. Fourteen. Is that good?
Speaker 2 (42:11):
No, it's not. They outscore They got scored by nineteen
in the fourth quarter alone. It's not great.
Speaker 5 (42:18):
There was This game had seventeen lead changes, fifteen ties,
I mean that's drama, baby drama.
Speaker 2 (42:24):
Well, why they lose by thirteen? Anthony Edwards not efficient
eleven of twenty one five to twelve from three, which
you'd take eleven, Yeah, twenty five. It wasn't a super
uni forty one point crazy. Forty one points of twenty
five shots is pretty good, Matt Well. He went to
the free throw line fifteen times. That counts?
Speaker 6 (42:46):
Does count?
Speaker 2 (42:47):
We hear as James Harden lovers back in the day,
that counts.
Speaker 5 (42:50):
Forty one points, seven rebounds, six assists, four turnovers in
a block shot. Rockets shot forty nine percent from the
floor thirty nine from three.
Speaker 2 (43:06):
Yes, and still lost by thirteen. Yes, they were outscored
seventy one forty three. That's all right, that's right. It's
sixty one forty three in the second half. Damn, damn, damn.
Speaker 4 (43:24):
Didn't deserve to win.
Speaker 2 (43:25):
And they've lost five straight and everybody else in the
West is winning, So they're now down to fourth, one
game ahead the Lakers. Ross. Everybody hurts sometime, right, Yeah,
the Rockets are hurting right now. It's like you're gonna
play that Aram song and we need the we need
the All Star break now. You know what, you know
who's not loving this because I talked to him before
the game yesterday. But this team misses Fred van Bleet.
(43:46):
I mean, I know he's not had a great shooting
season and the numbers are down in that particular category.
He's been better, but it's been better than last before
he rolled his ankle. And he just has a calming
influence that I still think young Aman Thompson disk doesn't
have just yet. It's gonna get it because he's going
to be a fantastic basketball player. I'm not arguing that point,
(44:08):
but you just.
Speaker 5 (44:10):
Need calm, you need direction, you need the veteran maxie
that he has out there. And say what you all
about what has happened this year with his shooting percentages
again not great to open up the year, he has
had a bunch of clutch threes in the most opportune
times for the Rockets when they won these big games.
Speaker 2 (44:29):
They need him in clutch time as part of I
mean whatever you want to call it as far as
like not having a closer, But the Rockets have weapons
they can go to in those situations, whether it be
Jalen Green, whether it be Aubern, Shangoon or Fred Van
Vlieve is one of those.
Speaker 6 (44:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (44:42):
Jalen last night nine of twenty two twenty eight points,
three of eight twenty in the first half though, and
then just disappeared.
Speaker 5 (44:51):
Yeah, Cam went Moore played well last night, sixteen points.
Jacq Lindell with a perfect four or four or ten
points last I mean, all five of the Rockets had
seven players in double figures. But you know, that's not
nearly as sexy as it was, say, fifteen years ago.
Now it feels like at least you getting five to
six players scoring in double figures.
Speaker 4 (45:10):
All five of the.
Speaker 2 (45:10):
Wolves starters scored in double figures, and then something called
Jalen Clark had seven. Jalen Clark was out of his mind.
He had four to three pointers in his NBA career
going in the game last night.
Speaker 4 (45:21):
That's another thing. Yeah, he had four by himself last night.
Speaker 2 (45:24):
The Timberwolves were making a bunch of crazy ass shots.
I was like, who is this guy Rob Dillingham, Like
he was making crazy shots? Yeah, he's, but he played
like him a lot. He's he's he was a top
ten You mentioned Jalen Clark. Mike Conley didn't miss a three.
He was a perfect four or four terrible shooter. Typically, Yeah,
it was. There was some bad luck, and you there
(45:45):
has been a little bit of bad luck on this stretch.
Yeah for guys who been like the Nets were making
a bunch of crazy shots at the end of that
game too, But that's the NBA. Guess what, The best
basketball players on the planet sometimes make a bunch of
crazy shots. Yeah, you gotta play better. The ones are
gonna look. Losing at Minnesota is not the worst thing.
Losing at the Knicks is not terrible. Losing at Memphis,
(46:07):
I mean, are those are all playoff teams? The two
that stings sports Harvey. You got beat by the Nets
twice in four days. They should have won that the
one that they lost ninety nine to ninety seven, that
was that was the one that stings the most.
Speaker 4 (46:21):
Oh, they I think both of them do.
Speaker 2 (46:24):
But you're right, I mean, to the point of that
one was really bad because that would have showed you
that despite the fact you, as the email told us,
you played six minutes a good basketball at forty you
almost won a.
Speaker 4 (46:36):
Game where you played great for six minutes.
Speaker 6 (46:37):
And that's it.
Speaker 2 (46:40):
Oh, let's get to more positive things. You want to Okay,
what do we got, I don't know what's what's what's
been positive in.
Speaker 4 (46:46):
Your worlds in the last few days.
Speaker 2 (46:47):
Let's see, Texans are out of the playoffs, Bregman hasn't signed,
the Astros traded away Kyle Tucker, and the Rockets have
lost five straight long long long hoards got crushed by
the Arkansas freaking Razorbacks.
Speaker 4 (47:00):
By the way, boy, that's good.
Speaker 5 (47:01):
Calipari got a little mojo going after beating Kentucky on
their home floor.
Speaker 6 (47:05):
Whatever.
Speaker 4 (47:05):
What was the Texas final lest yesterday?
Speaker 2 (47:08):
I can't remember the exactly they lost by like ten?
Did the Longhorns?
Speaker 6 (47:11):
That's fine?
Speaker 2 (47:11):
You look mean you get your rifle spot back in.
Then it where you're Yeah, they're going there an it
bound for sure.
Speaker 6 (47:17):
Whatever.
Speaker 2 (47:18):
Hopefully they can win it again, become the people's champs again.
Speaker 6 (47:21):
Well, Chris del County put up with that much longer
you think we'll see?
Speaker 4 (47:24):
Who cares?
Speaker 2 (47:25):
Nobody else seems to care about college a long horn basketball,
so why should I?
Speaker 6 (47:30):
Yeah, but you have been carrying that flag.
Speaker 2 (47:32):
It's so terrible. I carry the flag for good game
show host and nobody cares about that. But I still
do it.
Speaker 4 (47:39):
I know I carry the flag for the mcrid being
America sandwich.
Speaker 2 (47:42):
Nobody else seemed to believe me on that's it's sixty forty.
I think I think you got forty percent of people
with you. We've done Twitter polls before. Yeah, it's it's
not as bad as you think. I mean, but it's
a good bit. It's not good. No, it's just.
Speaker 5 (48:01):
Well last time you had it, you were like, it's
not terrible, it's not good, but you Yeah, you wouldn't
go out and say, hey, family, let's go out.
Speaker 2 (48:07):
I would have to literally have a McDonald's in my
house to ever order McRib because I was getting sick
of everything else.
Speaker 4 (48:12):
It would be the last thing on the menu I
would order. How about I bring it to you, like
I'll bring you.
Speaker 2 (48:18):
Know what I'm doing.
Speaker 5 (48:19):
I haven't seen you, seen you in congree. If I
could bring you mc ribs, I would. But they're not
serving them right now, are there?
Speaker 4 (48:25):
Back off the menu?
Speaker 2 (48:26):
Yeah, but they'll be back out.
Speaker 4 (48:27):
Oh wow.
Speaker 2 (48:27):
They prided all the port gunk out of the machines
enough to press enough sheets and now they're like, all right,
we'll see you in six months. I felt I felt
person all right there ross by the way, I'm not
buying you lunch. You want me, You're gonna on me
a bunch of lunches here, and they're not too distant future.
Speaker 6 (48:40):
All the bets I'm gonna be winning.
Speaker 4 (48:42):
Yeah, we'll see.
Speaker 5 (48:43):
Seven one three, two, one two five seven ninety seven
one three two one two five seven nine zero's and
anything goes Friday.
Speaker 2 (48:51):
And that starts this hour with Louise on seven Nighty Luise,
thank you for holding in. Good morning to you.
Speaker 15 (48:57):
I tell you doing. I was just taking about the
rook and it seems like most of all these games
being lost in the fourth quarter. Is maybe the rotation
that the locker is using is there, maybe too tired
or maybe there is because what I see is Green
just drabbling around all over the place. And I know
(49:20):
that it's very even the scoring. Everybody scores of ten points,
but at the moment, at the last moment, then we
got Green. It's dreaming around and and it's great, it's amazing,
But it seems like all the games were losing out
of the fourth quarter. I want to hang about lazy guys,
but I'm just kind of frustrating that that they win
(49:41):
three quarters and then they look to the fourth quarter.
Speaker 6 (49:43):
Yeah, that's a great point, Thank you, Louise.
Speaker 5 (49:45):
I will say this, and I don't have the last
five box scores in front of me, but I would
say if there has been a trend, that we'll talk
to em about this when he joins us in a
half twenty minutes from now. The Rocket's fourth quarter performances
have been less than spectacle of the last what about
two three weeks?
Speaker 7 (49:59):
Now?
Speaker 2 (49:59):
Ros would you put it? Yes? Yeah, they're in a
stretch of fourteen out of eighteen games on the road.
Speaker 6 (50:06):
I thought it was thirteen to seventeen.
Speaker 2 (50:08):
Oh, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe you're right now, but it
feels that way. I counted it up the other day.
It could have done it wrong. No, I've learned.
Speaker 6 (50:15):
How to count. That's fine.
Speaker 14 (50:17):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (50:18):
Yeah, the fourth quarters have been.
Speaker 5 (50:22):
It's not is it more offensive to you or is
it the fact the defense that so many teams have
been putting up these high numbers.
Speaker 2 (50:29):
I mean, you're going to go through stretches where you
can't find the basket. That's going to happen.
Speaker 5 (50:32):
But this team has prided itself so much on its defense.
We're seeing thirty five?
Speaker 4 (50:38):
Did we not see? I was there a forty six.
Speaker 6 (50:40):
I think somewhere along the way in this group two.
Speaker 2 (50:45):
I can't remember. But it's been a lot of four number. Yeah,
it's been a lot of fourth quarter issues.
Speaker 6 (50:49):
Yeah, I don't know, it's just gosh almighty. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (50:53):
That's the thing is that you're I mean, like I said,
last night was so bizarre.
Speaker 2 (50:57):
You're up one after one, you're up five at the half,
you're up six after three, the game at seventeen league
changes fifteen ties, and then it becomes a completely different basketball.
Speaker 4 (51:09):
Game in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (51:12):
And Anthony Edwards just took over the game. Yes, fourteen
out of eighteen on the road starting January seventh, since
January seventh, so it's been a month of this.
Speaker 5 (51:25):
Well thankful, I think we're gonna get thirteen to seventeen
at home coming back here, so and mixing the All
Star break during that time, all right, So yeah, it
is in Luis to your point, fourth quarters have not
been the greatest thing on one And we'll talk more
about that when Eman when he joins us in about
seventeen minutes from now seven one three two one two
five seven ninety seven to one three two one two
(51:46):
five seveny we have a Twitter question of the day,
and it is what are the Super Bowl party tips?
And the number one thing and the early going that
has the lead is do not host a party. If
you have a streaming service as your way of broadcasting
the game.
Speaker 4 (52:06):
You can get the rabbit ears out.
Speaker 6 (52:08):
Does anybody rabbit ear anymore?
Speaker 4 (52:11):
I know some cord cutters do it.
Speaker 5 (52:13):
Yeah, heavy, Okay, not men any I don't know anybody
that wrote that. I know a lot of people that
have the boo boob TV, the what the rub I
don't know that. Don't spend money, they're not getting.
Speaker 2 (52:26):
A sponsor mentioned Oh my gosh, eleven fourteen on Sports
Talk seven ninety seven one three two one two five
seven ninety seven one three two one two five seven
ninty is how you reach us? Emay? Don't it? Coming
up in about fifteen minutes here on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 6 (52:43):
Back in the morning, just a moment.
Speaker 9 (52:46):
The Matt Tana Show with Ross continues. So on Sports
Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 2 (52:56):
Eleven seventeen on seven ninety it is the Matt Tomas
Show with Boss seven one three two one two five
seven nine zero seven one three two one two five
seven nineties.
Speaker 5 (53:07):
So let's get to the Super Bowl before we get
to EMY in about fifteen minutes from now. Uh, if
they win the game, they be in Kansas City, that
would be a three peat, first time it's ever happened
in Super Bowl history. Where do you put that up
against the New England domination, the Steelers domination of the seventies,
the Niners domination of the eighties, the Cowboys three Super
(53:28):
Bowl wins of the nineties. Where does this rank up
with those count of free dynasties.
Speaker 2 (53:34):
You don't want to go recency bias. Everything now is
the ladiest and greatest. But if nobody's ever done it
and you did it, yeah, gotta be the greatest dynasty
in in NFL history.
Speaker 4 (53:44):
I would think how many would it be? Four and
six years?
Speaker 6 (53:46):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (53:47):
Out? Yeah, four out of six and three in a row.
How do you argue with that?
Speaker 6 (53:55):
Now?
Speaker 2 (53:55):
The Patriots, Uh what Tom Brady and uh Bill Belichick
won sixty yeahther was it? Yep?
Speaker 6 (54:02):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (54:02):
The girlfriends wearing one of the rings apparently.
Speaker 2 (54:04):
For there was like a good ten years in between wins.
I think it's almost like they kind of had two eras.
Mm hmm. I would you know what, I'm gonna go
ahead and say it. This beats all the things we
just talked about. Wow, Because everybody and their mother has
(54:24):
been talking all season long about how vulnerable the Chiefs were.
Speaker 6 (54:28):
Remember the block.
Speaker 2 (54:30):
Punt, the block kick, the penalty, the getting away at
the very last second. And they're like, oh, the Chiefs
come playoff time, are gonna get their come up?
Speaker 5 (54:39):
And no they didn't. They beat the Texans and they
beat the Buffalo Bills. Yeah they didn't win the very
last second. They were close games, but they didn't. You know,
they didn't.
Speaker 2 (54:51):
They weren't sweating them with four seconds left to go.
They they didn't need a missed field goal to advance.
Speaker 6 (54:56):
They didn't.
Speaker 5 (54:57):
They didn't, you know, catch a prayer and win the game.
They won the games. Kansas City beat Buffalo, put pressure
on uh drawn a blank Josh Allen late in the
game to win that contest. They dialed things up defensively
that threw the Bills off as they were trying to
(55:18):
go down for a score late in the contest. And
Pat Mahomes had a good year, but not as good
as previous years.
Speaker 2 (55:27):
We have finally started to see the drop off of
Travis Kelce, but the Chiefs defense is as good as
it's ever been, so as much as I don't want
to do it, and as much as people are pissed
off about all the calls apparently again and by the way,
stop going and putting out your little funny tweets about
the chiefs with the referees wearing Chiefs colors. I mean
it was charming for like a week. Now it's just tiresome.
(55:51):
I'm addicted to putting putting those AI pictures out.
Speaker 4 (55:55):
They just make me laugh.
Speaker 2 (55:57):
Oh, speaking of it, can I can I go to
AI for just second? Here? Yes, So Tyler Hero, the
Miami you know, and men Thomas's best friend. Okay, there isn't.
There was an AI Instagram, I think is what it was.
I saw it on maybe it was Twitter, and I'm
watching his lips. He's talking about Jimmy Butler leaving Miami
(56:19):
to go to Golden State, and I'm watching his lips
and the things that he is saying is so inflammatory
and so rude. But I was watching the AI of it,
and I'm like, did Tyler Hero really say this? And
I scrolled the comments down. Everyone's like, man, I bought
this for a while, but I thank god I was
(56:40):
able to figure out he didn't say this. Ross's AI
is very dangerous right now because.
Speaker 5 (56:48):
It looked like and maybe I was interpret I was
just trying to think that there was he was saying
what he was really saying. But I was watching the
guy's whatever, the AI of Tyler Herro was talking and
it was like he was saying the exact same thing
that was on the on the message that was being
put on on the on the on the posts.
Speaker 4 (57:03):
Yeah, since you.
Speaker 2 (57:04):
Put audio, they're putting AI audio over a video.
Speaker 4 (57:08):
It's very common.
Speaker 2 (57:09):
So are they taking a person's lips and reading what
the what the comments are saying and then just put
no no, they say, I'm it's probably just AI audio
a layered over an actual video. Yeah, just watched the lips, Matt,
even though the AI could kind of do that too,
or will be what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (57:24):
I was watching the lips and it was wigging me
out a little bit.
Speaker 2 (57:29):
Because he was calling, you know, he was calling Jimmy
Butler at Biach and was talking about this is the
you know, this was the hardest thing for Eric expulsion
since he got divorced. I was just I was do
yourself a favorite. Now you were on the four you
tab when this happened. It had to have been you know, Yeah,
I just mute that person. Just mute him anytime I
see any of that. Mute.
Speaker 5 (57:48):
But generally speaking, I'm very concerned because there's a lot
of different interesting things that we see on Twitter that
I sent to Connor to play back on the show.
But it's almost like I have to listen to it
myself a couple of times. Systems make sure I'm not
sending him something that's completely well, gotta be.
Speaker 2 (58:02):
Careful, Matt. Now, look, we're all careful with our social
media post but ross this is a different level of
being careful, and it's not being policed at all. And yeah,
now some of it's funny, but some of it's dangerous.
(58:22):
Keeping the public misinformed is an easier way for the
powers to be to stay in power.
Speaker 4 (58:28):
WHOA, that sounded very political ear of you.
Speaker 2 (58:33):
I mean, I I don't know if I disagree with you.
I'm just saying that that was a powerful We should
put that on a T shirt, go into that one
more times that people at home can write you know
what I said, Keeping the public misinformed is a way
for the powers that be to stay in power is
a good want to put on a T shirt and
it's a little wordy. Well work on that.
Speaker 4 (58:54):
Uh, but yeah it was weird. Okay, So what are
we going back with this on the AI?
Speaker 6 (58:59):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (59:00):
Oh, back to the super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (59:02):
So eighty percent of America wants the Eagles to win,
first ofe Do you buy that?
Speaker 15 (59:09):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (59:10):
Eighty percent? I could see it. I guess there's that
many Taylor haters.
Speaker 4 (59:14):
No, Taylor's got too many fans rooting for her. Taylor's
got too many fans.
Speaker 2 (59:18):
How many people do you know in your life that
I know a bunch that are rooting for the Chief
just because of Taylor Swift.
Speaker 5 (59:25):
That would, yeah, correct their whole their whole thing about
being Sunday watching Sunday is to see photos of Taylor
in the in the luxury box at the Superdome.
Speaker 4 (59:36):
It's not about the game.
Speaker 5 (59:38):
It's not about whether or not the Saquon Barkley rushes
for one hundred and fourteen yards and two scores. It's
about seeing Taylor hug Kelsey's mom after Travis Kelsey makes
his first catch or makes a big first down.
Speaker 4 (59:54):
You know who's got zero problem with that? The NFL.
Speaker 2 (59:56):
Oh yeah, they get more eyeballs. They don't care. They
love that. This is the MA They would have chosen
Chiefs Eagles.
Speaker 5 (01:00:03):
Now there have been there were probably better matchups in
terms of intrigue and fresh blood, but the swifty factor
is significant.
Speaker 6 (01:00:12):
By the way, are a front of the show.
Speaker 2 (01:00:14):
Ross and Nick Wright believes that Travis kelce if they
win this game, will retire.
Speaker 4 (01:00:18):
I can see that he's old. He's not moving around
as well as he used to.
Speaker 2 (01:00:22):
He you know what he is now, He's just pedestrian.
He reminds me of late stage Jason Witten. Jason Witten
would always be open. Now he moves a little bit
better than Jason Witten really ever did. Right, But Jason Witten,
what he was always great at is just finding a
hole in his zone and catching the ball.
Speaker 4 (01:00:41):
Had great hands.
Speaker 5 (01:00:45):
Is Travis Kelsey the greatest ton end ever? No, you're
talking about the bias. Okay, let's run through the list.
Speaker 2 (01:00:55):
Travis kelcey or Tony Gonzalez or Antonio Gates? Are you
going Kellen Winslow on Winslow, Dude, Kellen Winslow. Back in
the day, you're Oss, you couldn't stop him. M wasn't
Dick tight end two h I'm surprised you're not going
John McKie on us. Eh. John McKie was great, by
(01:01:18):
the way, the greatest tight end ever. What what the
I wonder what? Let me see what the end of
Gronk Gronk, Tony Gonzalez, Uh, Antonio Gates. It was a beast,
but he wasn't the Are you going complete tight end?
Speaker 4 (01:01:38):
Then you go Gronk.
Speaker 6 (01:01:39):
I think you have to go complete tight end.
Speaker 2 (01:01:41):
If you're going complete tight end, I go Gronk.
Speaker 6 (01:01:46):
Is that because he's just fresh off the field.
Speaker 2 (01:01:49):
Because you know, because he's the better He was the
better blocker than most of them in my opinion. All right,
here's the list off the top, Tony Gonzalez, Rob Green, Cow,
Antonio Gates. I mentioned Dicka Shannon Sharp, who is going
into the Hall of Fame by the way this year, Witten,
Ozzie Newsome.
Speaker 4 (01:02:09):
Got ross.
Speaker 2 (01:02:10):
Ozzie Newsom is a as a kid, he caught everything too.
You mentioned John Mackey. Uh. They got Jimmy Graham on
this that he had several good years, but he wasn't
long term. He was a machine though touchdowns, good as
a nine or two man, this Davis up there, I
got you, all right.
Speaker 5 (01:02:29):
Uh, We're gonna talk to Emy Adoka coming up next,
and then after that we're gonna check in with Gordy
in New Orleans.
Speaker 2 (01:02:35):
He's at the super Bowl. Wow Radio Row getting the
best guests for other shows.
Speaker 6 (01:02:40):
That's season.
Speaker 2 (01:02:41):
We appreciate him.
Speaker 6 (01:02:42):
No, No, he's doing he did.
Speaker 2 (01:02:43):
He did a great few on Wednesday, right when you're
out stepped up. Yeah, he's good. We appreciate him, all.
Speaker 4 (01:02:47):
Right, seven one, three, Okay?
Speaker 6 (01:02:50):
Is next.
Speaker 2 (01:02:53):
Eleven thirty two on the Matt Tommy Show with Ross
here in Dallas. I need to correct one thing. Shannon
is in the Hall of Fame. Sterling is going in
this time as a receiver primarily with the Green Bay Packers.
So Shannon's and Shannon Sharp's in the Hall of Fame.
Sterling is gone. I must have missed you saying that
I would have loved to have corrected you. I know
you like to correct me in a lot of things,
unless as owned doubts and me too.
Speaker 3 (01:03:16):
I want to go over.
Speaker 2 (01:03:17):
Sterling numbers after he finished with the email, because I
want to see if that was a case of did
the NFL wait too long to get him in or
is this just getting in because they got to put
some new people in. So we'll make we'll state the
case for Sterling Sharp coming up in a couple of minutes. Uh,
speaking of sleep to prov I don't know how well
emay A Dokas left, but let's find out. Right now.
He's the head coach of your beloved Houston Rockets, and
(01:03:38):
he joins us here on Sports Talk seventy coach, Good morning,
restless night or did you sleep.
Speaker 6 (01:03:43):
Okay pretty restless night? I get it, I get it.
Speaker 5 (01:03:49):
Hey, Uh, these are sometimes these interviews are fun to
do because things are going great. Unfortunately, squads dropped five
in a row. Give us a couple of takeaways from
last night, and I guess number one thing are from
an audience today email is that we've had some tough
fourth quarters.
Speaker 4 (01:04:02):
So what do you attribute that to?
Speaker 7 (01:04:06):
Yeah, the scoring droughts in the fourth have hurt us,
for sure, But you know, we look at the totality
of the game and so many things that we are
not doing correctly, especially to start a game with specific
game plans and personnel. And you know, a guy like
Anthony Edwards coming off a forty nine point game, the
previous night to let him come out as comfortable as
(01:04:26):
he was in the first quarter and get going. It's
hard to slow somebody down when you have eighteen in
the first quarter, eight three tows wide open threes, And
obviously we want a game plan to be more aggressive
with him, take away certain looks.
Speaker 6 (01:04:38):
And we didn't do that from the start.
Speaker 7 (01:04:40):
And then in the fourth quarter he took it on
the shoulders to leave his team and some of the
same things that hurt us in the first quarter, Well,
we did better than the second and third against him
crept back in the fourth.
Speaker 5 (01:04:52):
You have never made excuses for us, but I want
to ask you in factors the number of games played
this month as been all the road games, it's a
sure number of games, Fred being gone the last handful.
What do you attribute to some of what has turned
out to be a subpar start of the month of February.
Speaker 7 (01:05:13):
Well, slippage in a lot of areas. Obviously defensively, we've
slipped in a lot of areas.
Speaker 6 (01:05:18):
They're rebounding.
Speaker 7 (01:05:21):
Guardian transition, and so when you're not scoring to the
level that we need to be, you have to be
even more stingy on the defensive end. Obviously, injuries happen
and alprim miss those three games. Fred has been out now,
but we've relied on our depth when we've been hurt
all year, and everybody has to go through the scheduling things.
So we started the road trip off well against top
(01:05:43):
tier teams and had some leatdowns against luster teams, and
so don't attribute it to the road record road games
or or anything like fatigue like I said, everybody's going
through at this point in the season, but just slippage overall.
Speaker 6 (01:05:57):
I think we're number.
Speaker 7 (01:05:58):
Eighteen or nineteen and d defense in the last in
the month of January and early February so far, and
obviously top five all year in the league, number two
most of the year, and obviously that's hurting us there
in the fourth quarter, scoring grouds, like you said, doing
things that didn't help us get the lead throughout the game,
and that was the case last.
Speaker 6 (01:06:17):
Night, where the ball movement was great.
Speaker 7 (01:06:19):
We only have one assistant in the fourth quarter and
have six points in the first six minutes and Edwards
is going, so it's a snowball effect.
Speaker 5 (01:06:26):
There is certainly a little bit of the Greg Popovich
coaching in you, because you have called a few timeouts
early third quartering games. That's that's something that I always
felt like Pop was great at doing that when he
was coaching the Spurs. You do it as well on occasion.
Speaker 2 (01:06:43):
What's that like?
Speaker 5 (01:06:45):
Is it just like you just you're so exasperated you
have to call a timeout to correct things right away,
or is that something that pops that is, don't let
things linger, because you know there, it's really strange that
you come out of the second half, you see one
or two baskets and you're calling timeout sometimes for forty
five to sixty seconds into the third quarter.
Speaker 7 (01:07:03):
Well, obviously, to start the game, we watch the extensive
pregame tape to see what we want to take away,
see what tendencies and players they are running, and you know,
and so at halftime we go into adjustment mode and
watch the things that hurt us in the first half,
things we did well and a lot of times, I'm
trying to reiterate that point. If we showed you know,
five six clips of something that hurt us, and we
(01:07:24):
come out right in the third quarter and do the
same thing, obviously, you need to redirect the attention, get
their focus back, and you know, being that we just
talked about taking these things away. That's that's basically what
it is. And so everything's different, you know, different circumstances.
It's not just one thing. But yeah, that's a lot
of the time we have made adjustments and talked about
certain things to take away at halftime, and when we
(01:07:46):
don't come out and do them, you have to let
them know about it.
Speaker 2 (01:07:48):
Feels like, especially in these close and late situations, Coach,
you guys are missing Fred van Vliet.
Speaker 7 (01:07:55):
Yeah, I think regardless of late game and anytime the game,
he is maybe the most important player as a point.
Speaker 6 (01:08:01):
Guard to get us organized.
Speaker 7 (01:08:02):
And you know, obviously experience is one thing, but the
IQ that he has and the understanding of, you know,
when to be aggressive, when to get guys shots, when
to get guys into the certain spots, is definitely missing.
Speaker 8 (01:08:14):
And so.
Speaker 7 (01:08:16):
Opportunity for other guys to play that role and step
into that role and learn and grow on the fly.
But definitely something that's missed at times, especially you know
what teams want to go zone against us, teams want
to attack us certain ways, or switch up matchups and schemes.
He's really good at diagnosing those and getting us in
the right sets, and so you can only do so much,
you know, dead ball situations, timeouts and those things. But
(01:08:39):
on the fly, you know, make or miss, and we
want to push out in transition. He's really good at
at finding mismatches, attacking and understanding how to get guys involved.
Speaker 2 (01:08:47):
ROCKETEC coach Imiadoka was here on Sports Talk seven ninety
and uptick in minutes for Reed Shepherd. What have you
been seeing out of him that you like and things
you want him to improve?
Speaker 7 (01:08:59):
It was aggressive. This is confidence, you know, being the
threat that he is out there hunting those shots. I
think it's very apparent how teams are guarding him and
the attention that he gets already just off of you know,
reputation and who he is and where he got drafted,
those things, and so you know, wanted to get him
some live game action.
Speaker 6 (01:09:16):
Obviously played probably his best game overall in Brooklyn.
Speaker 7 (01:09:20):
Obviously needs to continue to improve us in the IQ
department with the rest of the guys.
Speaker 6 (01:09:24):
It's a young guy in a different position.
Speaker 7 (01:09:26):
Dunton didn't always play the point guard, played off ball
a lot, and now he's being asked to be a
secondary handler with a man out there with Jalen out there,
and so those things. Defensively taking on the challenge as
well when teams try to target him. We do have
some things that we can scheme around to take care
of him, but you know, you have to do your
part as well and not just get beat initially or
get blown by and put up a little bit more fight.
Speaker 6 (01:09:48):
And he's done that. He's approved on both ends, I think.
Speaker 7 (01:09:50):
Obviously aggressive aggressiveness on offense and then taking on challenges defensively,
those are the main things.
Speaker 5 (01:09:57):
How did you spend the trade deadline day? Let's see,
you know, Rafel probably taking a lot of phone calls,
Lob and if you what was it like? I know
that you were asked about it yesterday before the game
and just kind of said, hey, we have a good
deep roster, like where we are. What was your overall
sense of how active and maybe inactive you guys were
on the on the trade conversation.
Speaker 7 (01:10:19):
Well, I think, like I said, we have a lot
of depth and a lot of growth we've seen this
year so far. Obviously we've had a good start, a
little slippage here lately, but I want to see who
we are going forward and real pressure situations playoff situations
and meaningful games down the stretch. So nothing we were
(01:10:39):
really looking for as far as that, But teams always call. Obviously,
when you have the depth that we have and the
draft picks and the young talent, teams are going to
call and check in, no doubt. And you know, Rafel
is taking calls all day and checking out the rest
of the league, the landscape boa league, and doing this
due diligence. But I would say it's more so uneventful
compared to some of the other teams, all the moves
(01:11:00):
that were made.
Speaker 6 (01:11:01):
But teams are checking in stopping That's that's his job.
Speaker 7 (01:11:04):
Obviously to monitor that and take the calls and see
what guys are talking about.
Speaker 5 (01:11:10):
I don't know if you've you know, look you're young
too your coaching career as a head coach, but you've
been in the league as an assistant, played and obviously
now running things here in Houston. Steve Kerr mentioned he
would like to see the trade deadline maybe pushed to
maybe around the All Star break. Do players do you
get a sense that they get nervous about this kind
of time.
Speaker 4 (01:11:28):
Or is it just, you know what, this is just
part of being an NBA player.
Speaker 7 (01:11:33):
A lot has to do with the experience and how
long you've been around and kind of getting them to it.
But it's definitely real. You feel it, you sense it.
You noticed it with guys. I think last year we
were in Toronto doing a practice shoot around during the
trade deadline, and everybody had a you know, sense of
nervousness about them. And then the deadline went past, and
it was like the deep breath was exhaled last year
(01:11:56):
in Toronto and guys got back to our shoot around,
you know. And so you can feel, you can see it,
no doubt, you know, the real lives involved, families involved,
and and and when you see Luca doncis getting traded
like everybody said, and everybody knows anything's possible, and so yeah,
there is there's some real reality to that. I think
young guys might stress a little bit more than the
(01:12:16):
guys who've been around, and you know, Fred, Jeff and
guys that have been around, they say it doesn't even
bother them because they've seen it, been there, done that.
But it is a real thing and obviously affects people
very differently.
Speaker 5 (01:12:28):
You mentioned, uh, Luca in your entire life being in
the NBA circles and what you have been is that
the most astonishing move you've seen in your life is
being a professional coach and athlete.
Speaker 7 (01:12:41):
Yeah, it was the probably the most surprising trade for sure.
I think you have somebody that's all the NBA led
the league and scoring just got to the finals. You
don't expect them to be traded, obviously, but you don't
know what's going on inside the organization and what they
feel is needed to compete and ever take a next step.
And sometimes the things are needed and are done. And
(01:13:02):
obviously I know Nico will the GM and then we
grew up together and so obviously something that they have
to deal within within the organization and they know the
ins and out outs of it more so than the public,
and so.
Speaker 6 (01:13:15):
Something that they really got a good player back.
Speaker 7 (01:13:17):
Obviously, still have a deep team and I have added
more depth and obviously had a good win against Boston yesterday.
Speaker 2 (01:13:24):
Coach, thank you for the time, Good luck tomorrow against Dallas.
Goot a good practice in and we'll see you at
the arena tomorrow afternoon.
Speaker 6 (01:13:31):
That's it. Thank you, You got it.
Speaker 2 (01:13:32):
He may doca with us here on The Matt Thomas
Show with Ross, and we appreciate him spending a few
minutes with us.
Speaker 4 (01:13:38):
Eleven forty three is our time.
Speaker 5 (01:13:40):
We're gonna go check in and see what's happening in
Nolan's next as The Matt Thomas Show continues here on
Sports Talk seven. Honey More Matt Thomas Show with Ross
now on Sports Talk seven ninety Wow. We really appreciate
he may and dock and joining the show. Seeing he
might be the least sugar coated coach we've ever had
(01:14:05):
on the show. I would agree with that, and it's
frankly refreshing. That's why I think he's going to have
a nice long tenure as an NBA coach. First of all,
he's one of the most physically fit NBA coaches. If
you want to throw hands with him, you're probably gonna lose.
Speaker 2 (01:14:24):
You think he does that in practice, you gotta problem.
You want to step up to the plate, Come on,
let's go. Hey, I'll meet you in the other side
of the locker room. We can talk it up man
to man.
Speaker 5 (01:14:33):
I mean he called Lebron a soft ass b I
mean that's the second or first greatest player in the
history of the NBA.
Speaker 2 (01:14:43):
Zero problem with that, Uh, didn't Lebron have like forty
and seventeen last night for forty year old? It's not bad?
All right? Hey, I'm making his case, Matt. I'm just saying,
I know, No, forty two, seventeen and eight at forty.
Speaker 4 (01:15:03):
Years old.
Speaker 2 (01:15:05):
Me as the all tim league scorer. He's also played
a longer anybody else, Hey, availability account though he hasn't
played seventy games in a few years.
Speaker 5 (01:15:15):
No, he's he can still do it. I mean, he
he's you know what I'm talking about. Well, you know,
he's not who he was five or six years ago.
But yeah, the drop is not it's not significant. All right,
real quick before I payoff on his.
Speaker 2 (01:15:26):
Fourth all time and assists John Stockton, Chris Paul, Jason Kidd,
Lebron James.
Speaker 4 (01:15:34):
You're saying he also distributes the ball as well as
he shoots it.
Speaker 2 (01:15:37):
Okay, he's ahead of Steve Nash, ahead of Magic Johnson,
Oscar Robertson, et cetera.
Speaker 5 (01:15:41):
Okay, all right, So Sterling Sharp's getting in the Hall
of Fame. Yes, let me give you the numbers here
without commentary. Okay, So I want you to closerize we're
we're gonna get Gordi in just second here play in
the NFL for seven years? Okay, mm hmm. The reason
why I was just seven? He hadn't he had a
neck injury that in early retirement. Three time All Pro,
(01:16:04):
five time Pro Bowl, three time receptions leader, one time
receiving yards leader, two time touchdowns leader. All that five
hundred and ninety five career receptions, eighty one hundred and
thirty four yards, sixty five touchdowns, seven years in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:16:27):
All that.
Speaker 4 (01:16:29):
Good enough for the Hall of Fame?
Speaker 2 (01:16:30):
Yes or no? Now answer to answer your question, I
have to ask you the question, do you penalize the injury?
I put it this way. If not for the injury,
(01:16:50):
his projected numbers year to year, based off what he
did in the previous seven would have made him a
surefire Hall of Fame, no doubt about it. Probably first teamer.
But don't we always go back to attendance as part
of the grade. That's what one somebody told me many
years ago. And he's also been retired since nineteen ninety four,
(01:17:11):
so this had there have been people thinking about Sterling
Sharp for a long period of time. All right, I'll
give you another point of contention. Uh, Oh, Luke Keikley
did not make it. Okay, he played, he retired because
of concussions. Yep, he played eight years. He had seven
Pro Bowls. He had five first Team All Pros, all
(01:17:33):
numbers besting Sterling Sharp. He played. He played eight years.
He had five first team All Pros and two second
team All Pros. So you're saying that there's a hypocrisy
in the voting process. He was Defensive Player of the Year.
Was Luke Keikley. His resume to me, is better than
Sterling Sharp's all right, we gotta make hard decisions in
(01:17:57):
this Hall of Fame business. No, sorry, Sterling, you're close,
but no cigar certainly not hard top decisions I mean
made on the Matt Thomas Show.
Speaker 4 (01:18:07):
Wrong, absolutely, Sterling.
Speaker 2 (01:18:10):
I'm sorry. Your neck will let you down. Your brother
has been a pain in the neck for sports media
for the last twenty years. And does it not get
in hell? Yeah, But I mean think about he's had
to wait a long time. He would have been eligible.
Speaker 6 (01:18:23):
What nine?
Speaker 2 (01:18:24):
Is he a Veterans Committee higher? Is that what that is?
Speaker 8 (01:18:27):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:18:27):
Maybe?
Speaker 4 (01:18:27):
Oh yeah, I think so?
Speaker 2 (01:18:28):
Yeah? Sorry, yeah, Now I'm not gonna get a cry
over the moon and say it was a travesty that
he's in. But if it were, if it were the
Sports RVs Pro Football Hall of Fame, he would not.
Speaker 4 (01:18:38):
Be in well about this seeing eye tests.
Speaker 2 (01:18:41):
Is Shannon Sharp catching a pass from Bart Star, Tom Brady,
Joe Montana? Uh?
Speaker 6 (01:18:51):
Who else?
Speaker 5 (01:18:51):
Great Dan Fout? I mean, is he catching a pass
with twelve seconds left to go to win in Super Bowl?
Speaker 2 (01:18:56):
Maybe? I don't really watch his career a lot. It
was like seven. I know, all right, let's talk to
Schmish morning. I mean Chris Gordy here, we can call
him by this. Yeah, he is in New Orleans right
now wrapping up our intense Super Bowl covers. Now, Gordy,
I give I give you a lot of guff about
the lack of amazing guests in the show, but you
have been there just a couple of days.
Speaker 5 (01:19:17):
You have outperformed the competition by just hustling on those
streets getting all the top flight folks. How's your trip
to your hometown been so far?
Speaker 6 (01:19:26):
Mm?
Speaker 4 (01:19:28):
Yeah, yoh yeah, we're your favorite show.
Speaker 2 (01:19:32):
Yeah man, we having a great time in a fresh
quarter now, baby, love it out here for the Super
Bowl eats super bowls for New Orleans. Oh, there he is, well,
like the can hear me?
Speaker 4 (01:19:43):
Yeah, we got you now.
Speaker 13 (01:19:45):
The words that I've heard more than anything this week
are I'm sorry, we're just all books. I mean, it's
it's it's insane.
Speaker 15 (01:19:53):
I get.
Speaker 13 (01:19:54):
I get you're coming here, Bounty and Doves and whatever
other companies that are coming to products, but like, I
don't know, I just feel like you should make more availability.
If you're coming in, you have your list of eight
hits you're gonna do, and seven of them are national hits, Like,
don't even come. I don't I don't know why you
(01:20:15):
would come to Radio Row where there's three hundred radio stations,
But I digress.
Speaker 2 (01:20:20):
No, you crushed it, and I'm happy that you were
able to get you know, Jay Glazer was good. Get
to the other day. You know, you don't want to
you can't get enough of Florida quarterbacks and Danny worfol
on the show. That was good. I mean, I just
when I when when I first got in this business
and Radio Row was just starting, it was the place
to go because you were going to get to people
that you normally would never get to.
Speaker 5 (01:20:40):
The reality is Chris and I don't want toppel the
curtain back too much on radio. But you got everybody
and their mother with these podcasts that are run by
ex athletes, that these current athletes are going to their
ex athlete bros. And they don't have time for Houston,
San Francisco, Miami, Chicago.
Speaker 2 (01:20:57):
They just don't.
Speaker 5 (01:20:58):
It's either the Nationals or the PO and the rest
of us local jumokes aren't doing anything. So I hereby
declare that Sports Talk seven ninety you're proud home of
Houston sports and gives you better NFL coverage than any
other station in the marketplace.
Speaker 4 (01:21:12):
We should never go again. I think it's a joint
omers waste of money.
Speaker 13 (01:21:16):
Yeah, I think you're right. I mean it's there's there's
groups that's been like their tire station and like I
don't know, they're talking with I don't know Greg Cosell.
Like you pay your stage, you paid ten grand to
come with interview Greig, Greg Cosell, you get him on
the phone. I will say this, Matt, the guest list
is very unique.
Speaker 7 (01:21:33):
Today.
Speaker 13 (01:21:36):
Here I'll give you a guest just the most random,
two most random people you could ever think that would
be at Super Bowl Radio Row. One of them is
a singer and one of them an iconic tennis player.
Speaker 16 (01:21:50):
Ross.
Speaker 2 (01:21:50):
I'll go, I'll go with the guest, and you make one.
I'm gonna go. John McEnroe is running Radio Row this week.
Speaker 13 (01:21:59):
M that's a that's a I was gonna be.
Speaker 4 (01:22:02):
I was gonna say Bjorn Borg myself.
Speaker 13 (01:22:04):
But uh, okay, what if I told what if I said, it's.
Speaker 4 (01:22:09):
A female tennis player? Monica sus is the nineties? Who's
the eighties?
Speaker 2 (01:22:15):
Chris Graft, Billy King is here doing it. That's cool,
the legendary Billy.
Speaker 13 (01:22:24):
Apparently in a high demand. People are fawning over her
like Donald Trump walked into the building.
Speaker 2 (01:22:29):
Mm hmm. Wow. You know we'd have to ask her
about Bobby Riggs and Houston. I mean, that would be
the other that'd be our starter right there, right. You know,
you gotta localize the story. All right, let's go to
this female.
Speaker 4 (01:22:39):
I'll go with Gloria as Stefan.
Speaker 2 (01:22:40):
I'm going to go with hmm, Gloria Stephan's a pull.
I'm gonna go.
Speaker 4 (01:22:49):
Okay, let's see, Barry White's dead.
Speaker 2 (01:22:52):
Neil Sadak is too old, Barry White's dead.
Speaker 4 (01:22:55):
I'm gonna go.
Speaker 2 (01:23:00):
Nineties seal. That's a good one ever did Oh wait
it now Connor knew. I don't believe you. Connor Seal
was there? Was he the one who had the hot
wife for a while? Heidi Klum? Oh, Heidi Klume all
time great. If I had Seal, I'd say, dude, you're
kissed by a rose A good song. Let's talk about
Heidi Kiel Klue, Clue whatever her name is, Yeah, Sterling
(01:23:23):
Shepherd out of the Hall of Fame. Heidi Klume in
the Hall of Fame. Oh, Heidi Klum is in the
Hall of Fame. For damn sure.
Speaker 13 (01:23:30):
It's just a guess that. Like if they came over
and said, hey, Seal's coming over, I would have no
idea what to ask him.
Speaker 2 (01:23:36):
We're just playing Heidi Klum Like you said, yeah, it's
Heidi Klumb talk. By the way, what did he do
wrong for her to say I'm out? It's like it's
like this, Gordy, if you had Belichick, now, would you
want to talk about North Carolina?
Speaker 9 (01:23:52):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:23:52):
Would you want to talk about the Super Bowls of
the Patriots. No, you'd be talking about how you pulling
twenty four year old ass.
Speaker 7 (01:24:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 13 (01:24:00):
I don't think he has any interest in talking about
his girlfriend.
Speaker 8 (01:24:04):
We do.
Speaker 13 (01:24:07):
Well, of course you do. By the way, great guests
on Adam and Adam yesterday the eighteen, we had a
Page van Zant and uh Holly, what's her face? We
will have that video posted up.
Speaker 2 (01:24:20):
You got to be embarrassed. You gotta be embarrassed her
booking that as a guest. What do they what could
they have possibly talked about? I don't even know who
they are. I mean they're probably hot.
Speaker 14 (01:24:28):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:24:29):
Paige van zan is a fighter, but she was a
terrible mma fighter.
Speaker 14 (01:24:31):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:24:31):
Didn't she get beat up a bunch.
Speaker 6 (01:24:34):
Boxing now or something?
Speaker 13 (01:24:36):
She entered boxing last year at RG Stadium in Houston.
Sounds like you missed it.
Speaker 2 (01:24:42):
I did, didn't make it? What are there? The morning show?
They had Mark Lerathon today. That was a good gut
from Fox. That's a good guy.
Speaker 13 (01:24:49):
Yeah yeah that Sean booked some of those some of
those guests. He but I got him Letonard Fournette. We
had him this morning with Shaun so Well.
Speaker 4 (01:24:56):
Of course you did, of course you did.
Speaker 2 (01:24:59):
You had any Someboddy Lsu walking around, you had him
on the show.
Speaker 13 (01:25:03):
Let me just tell you the two guests that have
walked through Radio Row yesterday today that have the most security,
Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels. Just let you know the
two LSU quarterbacks had the most security.
Speaker 2 (01:25:14):
Were they on any of our shows yesterday?
Speaker 13 (01:25:19):
You couldn't even get close to Joe Burrow, let alone
book him.
Speaker 2 (01:25:23):
Well, then then you're not locked on s LSU. Then
you let us down again.
Speaker 6 (01:25:28):
You know.
Speaker 5 (01:25:28):
I'm sure an Acadocia Sports Radio had him on. I'm
sure Wich Talk Kansas couldn't get enough of those guys.
They were like bagging them off the air.
Speaker 13 (01:25:37):
Look, Clyde Edward Zeeler, we probably could have gotten, but
Joe Burrow was off limits.
Speaker 2 (01:25:41):
All right, Hey, please be careful coming home.
Speaker 6 (01:25:44):
We need you back here.
Speaker 2 (01:25:45):
On Monday, we're having a big reunion at the office.
We haven't seen each other in a month, so we
got I'll get together on Monday.
Speaker 13 (01:25:51):
Well, let me promote this real quick. I think I
have some interviews that I've taped that I think we're
going to run tonight after the UT Coaches Show at
seventh Am. I actually just hold on, hold.
Speaker 2 (01:26:02):
On, hold on. We're gonna we're gonna decide whether we're
running these or not, because if they're not any good
we're not going to play them.
Speaker 6 (01:26:07):
Go ahead, what do you got?
Speaker 13 (01:26:09):
I got Jason Worth asking him about the cheating Sastor's
cheating scandal with.
Speaker 2 (01:26:16):
Yes, okay.
Speaker 13 (01:26:19):
Oh, by the way, he's he's doing a horse racing
podcast and one of his best buddy Alex Alex pregnant.
Speaker 2 (01:26:25):
Yes, okay, so ross we letting this one go on
the air or no?
Speaker 4 (01:26:31):
Yeah, I don't care, I'm off.
Speaker 2 (01:26:32):
All right, go ahead continue.
Speaker 13 (01:26:35):
Another great guest that I picked with last night. He
was one of the hardest guys to track down, but
we got him. Gots we'll join us.
Speaker 2 (01:26:44):
No, we are not playing that on this radio station.
I'll be damned, no chance.
Speaker 13 (01:26:50):
He is a great guy.
Speaker 4 (01:26:52):
My god, God, you are such a media whore.
Speaker 2 (01:26:54):
You really are.
Speaker 4 (01:26:54):
It's terrible.
Speaker 2 (01:26:56):
R What else.
Speaker 14 (01:26:59):
You know?
Speaker 13 (01:27:00):
We actually had a really good conversation Marshall Newhouse, former
Giants offensive lineman. He who is I know, you don't

he's like the next up and comer. He's he's working
on a deal with ESDN. He's gonna be one of
their talking heads very soon.

followed by those three heavy hitter guests. Let's go.

who continues to disappoint Ross.
Speaker 2 (01:27:40):
Oh look the last second jab there, that's not a jab.
What did he say?
Speaker 4 (01:27:44):
That was incorrect?
Speaker 2 (01:27:45):
Well, just coming from an LSU guy, Gorny, thank you
very much, Please travel pd LSU's ass.
Speaker 4 (01:27:52):

Speaker 4 (01:28:52):
Well, my pipe's been wrapped for a long time.
Speaker 2 (01:28:54):
I think I did it once. And what did you
just say?
Speaker 4 (01:28:56):
Load in four k? You're supposed to load the photo
in four K?
Speaker 2 (01:28:59):

Speaker 4 (01:28:59):

Speaker 2 (01:29:00):
I don't know how to load anything, okay, especially call
you no load Thomas.
Speaker 4 (01:29:04):
You never bust che cheese?
Speaker 2 (01:29:06):
No, I've never busted the che cheese before.
Speaker 4 (01:29:08):
Every time I look at PJ.
Speaker 2 (01:29:09):
Tuckery's was in a half an inch could have covered
my ass on this, but you didn't. You fully exposed
my ass instead of covering it.
Speaker 4 (01:29:16):
I like length.
Speaker 2 (01:29:17):
Do you like length?
Speaker 4 (01:29:19):
That's how I typically work, rather than shorter and girthier.
Speaker 6 (01:29:25):
Twelve or nine.
Speaker 2 (01:29:26):
Sports Talk seven ninety We are down the home straight
to the Matt Thomas Show with Ross.
Speaker 4 (01:29:30):
We're with you till two o'clock today.
Speaker 2 (01:29:31):
We'll visit with Ryan Hollins at one o'clock on the
NBA Trade deadline, non flour stories at one thirty. Helly
are not at one fifty. But right now we present
to you the news seven New. Oh, we're still doing
the news at New second's over in like two seconds.
(01:29:52):
But that's okay, Matt, Sure, brevity's perfect. Well, let's get
you the news at Noon, Matt, as we discuss all
the the top sports news items of the day, including, uh, well,
this guy terrorizing your Houston Rockets. Edward's straight away having
a twenty six footer up spinning round. He's taken over
(01:30:15):
ten of the last twelve Minnesota points. Gowan Edwards's got
thirty six. Rockets lose won twenty seven to one to
fourteen to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Also, importantly, the Nuggets win
to surpass them in the Western Conference standings. The Lakers
win there now within a game of the Rockets. Rockets
in fourth place, half a game behind the Nuggets, three
(01:30:38):
full games behind the Memphis Grizzlies in the West.
Speaker 6 (01:30:42):
Oh damn, damn, damn.
Speaker 2 (01:30:46):
She had Florida Evans give us some comments about how
what she thinks of the Rockets the last ten days
is she?
Speaker 4 (01:30:51):
Is she on the Rockets beat for us? I don't know.
Speaker 5 (01:30:55):
Are you gonna going to ask her how she's feeling? Hey,
flo Rockets have dropped five in a row. They're now
fourth place in the West. They're only a game in
front of the fifth place Lakers.
Speaker 2 (01:31:05):
How are you feeling?
Speaker 1 (01:31:07):
Calm down down?
Speaker 2 (01:31:11):
I said it better myself.
Speaker 4 (01:31:12):
Florida isn't.
Speaker 2 (01:31:13):
I'm not very happy, clearly, all right, Matt, Let's go elsewhere.
In the news at noon, Ari Alexander of KPRC Local
two tweeting out yesterday.
Speaker 5 (01:31:24):
That the apps you talk, the astros have added a
little bit to the offer that they originally put out
at six years, one hundred and fifty six million dollars.
Speaker 2 (01:31:35):
Ari did not mention how much more that was, whether
that was a cost of living adjustment, whether that was
a MILLI, whether it was ten million.
Speaker 4 (01:31:42):
We don't know what that number is.
Speaker 2 (01:31:44):
So the offer has been out there so long, it's
been there's been a cost of living adjustment. Well, I
mean maybe inflation, you know, like you know how your
four one K fluctuates. Maybe maybe the deal, maybe the
deal yesterday was worth one hundred and fifty eight point
three one k. It was worth only one hundred and
forty nine million dollars.
Speaker 6 (01:31:59):
You never know?
Speaker 4 (01:32:00):
Four one k?
Speaker 6 (01:32:00):
What's that?
Speaker 2 (01:32:01):
Uh huh? Been a pain in my ass. I never
get enough value in return. But that's other here nor there.
I'm checking out for one k right now. Go ahead,
don't do that.
Speaker 4 (01:32:09):
Don't ever do that. Stew it in ten years.
Speaker 2 (01:32:13):
Uh yeah, So Aria Alexander saying that the Astros have
moved up the offer.
Speaker 4 (01:32:17):
We don't know how much or what exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:32:19):
Obviously, if they made it like two hundred million, he
probably would have signed already.
Speaker 4 (01:32:22):
It sounds like there have been some re engagements there also, Matt.
Speaker 2 (01:32:27):
You have the Pro Football Hall of Fame class being
announced last night, Eric Allen, Jared Allen, Antonio Gates in
Sterling Sharp them four that made it in a very
small class. I'm gonna run through some of the top
people they thought snubbed Matt, and I just want to
yes or no, or in or out? All right, go
(01:32:47):
Tory Holt out, Luke Keighley in, Eli Manning out, Steve
Smith Senior out, Oo, til sucks in, Fred Taylor out,
Adam Vin and Terry in, Reggie Wayne in HM tough one,
(01:33:14):
I know. And then Darren Woodson will go with Yeah, Aaron,
Darren Woodson, you got.
Speaker 4 (01:33:20):
Him out, Darren Woodson, I have in.
Speaker 6 (01:33:24):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:33:24):
Those are some of the other finalists that did not
make it. A lot of people upset with Eli Manning
not making it. I say he's halla very good.
Speaker 4 (01:33:33):
He's getting in eventually.
Speaker 2 (01:33:34):
Just it'll be he's gonna get in whatever because he
played in New York. He won two Super Bowls. As
our good friend Adam J. Wexler points out, the two
Super Bowl runs were great for Eli Manning. How many
playoff games did Eli Manning win outside of those two runs?
Speaker 1 (01:33:49):
Three zero?
Speaker 2 (01:33:52):
Man wex has analysis on every single thing in the
world of sports. That's why we love him. That's why
you listen to the A team coming up at two o'clock.
They're doing a full show today too. It's good for them.
Speaker 11 (01:34:01):
I know.
Speaker 2 (01:34:03):
You want a quick, kind of off the beaten path,
but still sports related story, which we love. On the
news at noon, MATTFG, the thieves are charged with robbing
at Joe Burrow's house. What's one of the reasons they
got caught? These geniuses took photos of themselves wearing his custom.
Speaker 1 (01:34:21):
JB nine jewelry.
Speaker 2 (01:34:23):
Oh no, yes, the men charged in Joe Burrow's there's
pictures of them on the internet wearing his jersey. Four
of them, I'm sorry, wearing his jewelry, not jersey. Three
Chilean men. There's four people in this picture. They're from Chile.
(01:34:48):
According to the office of Kenneth L. Parker, United States
Attorney in the Southern District of Ohio, Okay, indicted with
interstate transportation of stolen property, falsifications of records. Apparently, Yeah,
robbed Joe Burrow and then took pictures of them in
his custom jersey. I mean that's just dufices, right, that's
(01:35:12):
just like the world's dumbest criminals.
Speaker 6 (01:35:14):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:35:16):
Yes, the vehicle used at the burglary Matt founded a Lakita. Really,
that's odd.
Speaker 6 (01:35:25):
Yes, all right, there you go.
Speaker 2 (01:35:29):
Well, and they didn't go. They didn't want to. They
didn't want to spend major money on a decent hotel basically, right,
guess not. Uh, they stole nearly three hundred thousand dollars
worth of designer jewelry, luggage, glasses, wristwatches from Joe Burrow's home.
Speaker 5 (01:35:44):
All right, that my friends the News at noon twelve
fifteen on Sports Talk seven ninety seven one three two
one two five seven ninety Stunna, we haven't heard from
Stunn in a long time.
Speaker 2 (01:35:54):
Wrong, So we only have one stunner that listens to show, right.
Speaker 4 (01:35:57):
Whether it's he's the number one Stunna, who's number two?
Speaker 6 (01:36:02):

Speaker 2 (01:36:58):
Twelve twenty one they met Thomas Show with Ross. We're
with you today until two o'clock, one o'clock Ryan Houten's
one thirty for the stories, Helly Air Not one fifty,
Set one seven Hunt, Anything Goes Friday Here on the
radio program. It means you call about anything you humanly
would like to, whether it be sports or nonsports. Seven
(01:37:21):
one three, two, one two five seven ninety Stunner, Where
have you been, Stunner?
Speaker 8 (01:37:28):
What's going on?
Speaker 7 (01:37:29):
Matthew Thomas?
Speaker 8 (01:37:30):
What's happening? Rows?
Speaker 2 (01:37:32):
Good day, Stunner some stomach?
Speaker 8 (01:37:35):
Well, man, I'm really cold about these rockets.
Speaker 2 (01:37:38):
Many they were.
Speaker 8 (01:37:40):
They They get me upset, especially with that game we
had one against Brooklyn. I mean, and oh my god,
there's just some terrible play and what's up with Shin
goom Do he gotta try to take the ball from
the top of the key, drive the lane when he
(01:38:01):
ain't when he ain't really a great ball handler? I mean,
oh my god, he was looking terrible the other night.
Speaker 5 (01:38:09):
Man killing ruined my weekend, Stunner, What what is this?
Come on now, give me something else.
Speaker 8 (01:38:20):
The only good thing about the weekend is is that, Hey,
you you do a great call, You make it look good,
you make it sound good, you clean him up, you
clean to doing up.
Speaker 6 (01:38:36):
Machine.
Speaker 2 (01:38:37):
I got it, Thank you very much.
Speaker 4 (01:38:38):
I appreciate that.
Speaker 8 (01:38:40):
Yeah you do, man, I said, well, at least Martin
know what's really going on behind the scene, because in their.
Speaker 15 (01:38:45):
Front team is not looking good.
Speaker 6 (01:38:47):
Man.
Speaker 8 (01:38:49):
And one other question, Man, the new the news name
change for no longer Mini Made Park is dyking. Yep,
he I can't call it nyiking. I'm just gonna have
to call it icebox because not you don't sound like
(01:39:11):
a jd't name for us right now.
Speaker 5 (01:39:12):
They don't spend any money with us. You can call
whatever you want. I don't care what you call it. Man,
I appreciate it. Thank you very much for the nice words.
Always appreciate it. Yeah, I don't think I've called it
Minute made in a while, so I'm kind of proud
of myself on that.
Speaker 2 (01:39:29):
But it's.
Speaker 5 (01:39:31):
You know, it's one of one of those things Ross
and marketing one on one. If you name something and
you don't know what it is, do you dismiss it
or do you go Like if let's say the Miami
Marlins come in to play the Astros this year and
the Marlins TV announcers say, live from dik In Park,
it's at Miami Marlins Baseball. Does the average Miami sports
(01:39:52):
fan go, what is dyke and I'll google it and
see what it is? Does Does that mean that marketing
did work or it didn't work.
Speaker 2 (01:39:58):
I think it's more well, probably it did if they're
googling it. Yeah, it's probably just more brand awareness. It's
more passive marketing than active marketing. Do you see a
Coca Cola commercial and you go out there and you
buy a Coca Cola immediately and your moved to do it? No,
but you're more aware of the brand, right, and then
(01:40:19):
when you come out and see it, it's brand awareness
is huge. Brand awareness is bigger than we all think.
Oh yeah, I mean advertising dollars. We love our great
sponsors here on Sports Talk c absolutely. I mean, look,
we our business is run on advertising. I'm just curious
how But when I do a commercial for say Shell,
Federal Credit Union, or Big City Wings, I mean, it's
pretty self explanatory what it is.
Speaker 6 (01:40:41):
M H.
Speaker 2 (01:40:42):
When you say dyke in park, I don't think the
average person knows.
Speaker 6 (01:40:45):
What dyke in means or is, right.
Speaker 5 (01:40:49):
I mean if people take the extra step and say
that's because there's a lot of arenas in sports.
Speaker 2 (01:40:56):
That I go to that you have to figure out
what they are, Like the Casia Center in Miami. Do
you know what casey is?
Speaker 12 (01:41:04):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (01:41:04):
Yeah, that's a type of protein powder.
Speaker 6 (01:41:06):
I believe that's not accurate.
Speaker 2 (01:41:09):
Oh what is it? I don't know. I'n't looked at
I haven't taken a second step. I'm not sure. Gonna
tell me.
Speaker 5 (01:41:19):
I mean I could, but I mean, like last line,
I was at the Target center. That that's not doesn't
figure out much.
Speaker 4 (01:41:26):
Figure out what that is.
Speaker 2 (01:41:27):
Tomorrow the game of the Rockets and the Mavericks are
at the at the American Airlines Center. You know what
I mean. I mean there's American smare Lines, it's American Marilines.
It's Americans Marilines. You can do all the marketing you want.
Speaker 5 (01:41:38):
If your airfares are eighty percent higher than Schmarted or
Dark Breast, I'm flying them.
Speaker 2 (01:41:47):
Advertising works, Brand awareness works. Damn well does? That's how
we live on this radio, That's how we live. That's
how everybody lives, NBA, NFL, major League Baseball. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
I'm not hating.
Speaker 5 (01:42:03):
I'm just saying that. It's I wonder what it's like
when you don't have a recognizable name it's attached to
a sports facility. How many people say, Yeah, I gotta
figure what that is. And I will tell you what
Casey is when we come back it's pressure rating.
Speaker 4 (01:42:20):
Oh wow, I'm sitting on the edge of my seat, Matt,
just sitting on the dock of the bay.
Speaker 2 (01:42:26):
I was like, what are you doing? Wasteia for all right?
Speaker 9 (01:42:28):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (01:42:29):
Seven one three, two one two five seven ninety Speaking
of marketing, how about Affordable Tree Service?
Speaker 2 (01:42:35):
This is the best mark I can give you. Is
my voice telling you that you need to get your
trees ready to go for spring.
Speaker 4 (01:42:42):
Coming up in the next couple of months.
Speaker 5 (01:42:44):
If they have not been checked down in a long
period of time, You're gonna call Martin Spoonmore over at
Affordable Tree Service.
Speaker 4 (01:42:50):
He is a very good friend of mine. Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:42:52):
He and the entire spour More family have done a
great job of building this family operated business. They have
been doing and checking out trees since nineteen ninety nine.
Speaker 2 (01:43:02):
So something's going right over with Martin and his wife
Joe at an Affordable Tree Service seven one three six
nine two sixty sixty three. That's seven one three, six
nine nine two six sixty three. They offer full service tree.
Speaker 5 (01:43:16):
Care from pruning and maintenance to tree removal, deep root feeding,
planning and transplanting of trees front backyard. They'll also do
root barricading, as well, all from the incredible folks at
Affordable Tree Service.
Speaker 2 (01:43:29):
Get in now before they get super busy. They're like,
I ain't got time for your trees. Guess what Martin
Spoon mower does now. Seven one, three, six, nine nine
two six sixty three. Affordable Tree Service, lunchtimers, lunch timers.
It's the Matt Thomas Show with Ross on Sports Talk
seven ninety. Can I Rossy, unfortunately tell you a dark story?
(01:44:00):
It's kind of sad. Frankly, can I say no? It
sounds like I don't have a choice. You really don't,
but I just want to at least preface it. It's
anything goes party and sadly it's it's kind of a
maybe a small bit of advice for those people that travel.
That'd be me, primarily a Louisiana woman.
Speaker 5 (01:44:20):
This is a non Florida story, but it's kind of
related to what's going on in the Super Bowl right now.
Speaker 6 (01:44:26):
There was a.
Speaker 5 (01:44:26):
Television reporter Rawson. If you saw this, he was worth
the Telemundo station in Kansas City.
Speaker 2 (01:44:32):
Okay. He was found dead in a hotel room in
New Orleans this week. All right, A Louisiana woman with
a history of quote drugging men and stealing their credit cards.
Was arrested following the death of the TV re sports
reporter who was in town with the Super Bowl. Hotel
security footage showed Danielle Colbert, who lives in sly Dell,
(01:44:55):
willt Dale Sliddale, entering his room at four four thirty
five am on Wednesday. This is according to the Kenner
Police Chief. Detectives say they got on Colbert's trail after
they discovered that the credit card the woman used to
check into the Comfort Suites wasn't on his body or
in his hotel room. Colbert went on to use man
(01:45:19):
Zeno's credit card. This the Manzano is the young man
that passed at several stores in the New Orleans area.
As of Friday morning, the woman has only been charged
with property crimes, including fraud and theftferlad offenses, but with
this investigation remains ongoing, ken or police have yet to
discuss how Manzano died. Yesh again, didn't mean to get
(01:45:44):
dark on you there, but it's it's me. You gotta
be careful. Someone wanted to sweet on you and they
may drug you. Not good, not good at all, so wow,
not be careful out there, folks. Yeah, be careful in
those streets if somebody is twenty four and year seventy
two and they may want to drug you. So you
think Bill Belichick's being drugged by his girlfriend, Well I
(01:46:07):
might tell you something. If he's maintaining a relationship he's
using drugs. Well, we're not talking about those type of drugs. Well,
I am, there's no way at seventy two, he's keeping
her happy.
Speaker 1 (01:46:24):
They've been together a while.
Speaker 2 (01:46:26):
I don't think they're saving themselves her marriage. She's still there.
I'm just oh, that's right, he's fuck you know what.
Speaker 6 (01:46:39):
You know what, Let's get to the game.
Speaker 8 (01:46:40):
Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (01:46:41):
Yeah. Thoughts about the Kansas City receivers opposite the Philadelphia
Cornerback sports survey, Um, okay, I thought you'd rather talk
about Bill Belichick's stamina. Well, those drugs are helping, I
would assume, right. I don't know, Matt. I don't think
these things don't cross my mind. What is wrong with you?
(01:47:04):
People have been talking about it. Nobody's talking about that, No, everybody,
everybody's What I've been trending is Bill Belichick and his
girlfriend are definitely trending on you. Yeah, but the only
person talking about him satisfying her is you.
Speaker 6 (01:47:16):
Or snoop.
Speaker 2 (01:47:18):
No, he's talking about how young she is. Maybe they're
just companions. Maybe they're just French. Maybe they're just friends.
When they stay in the same room, they get two
double beds called a day. Yeah, so he can get
so he can get his rest. How long have they
been together? Who knows, but it's it's very odd, early
(01:47:40):
twenty twenty three, so it's about two years now ross
forty eight year difference. Okay, so she was twenty two
then had to been right, she's twenty four now, right, Yeah,
twenty four and by the way, stunningite what.
Speaker 4 (01:47:57):
You said about her head, which was rude, I.
Speaker 2 (01:48:03):
Just called them like I sees him. I'm sorry. But yeah,
she's great. She's quite beautiful.
Speaker 4 (01:48:09):
Wearing one of his Super Bowl rings last night at
the NFL or.
Speaker 2 (01:48:12):
Which one do you think she's wearing them?
Speaker 6 (01:48:14):
Was?
Speaker 4 (01:48:14):
Is she wearing one from before she was born or after?
Speaker 6 (01:48:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:48:16):
She can't wear one like the one of the New
Orleans and they beat the and they beat the Rams
on the field goal of Editarry.
Speaker 2 (01:48:21):
Because she wasn't even born. Then she's gotta wear hopefully
a recent one. Yeah, she's probably wearing the very last
one when she was so she was starstruck. And then
he signed her book and then things progressed from there.
So he's like, okay, this is how long? How many
years ago?
Speaker 7 (01:48:37):
Was that?
Speaker 2 (01:48:38):
Four or five? This says the beginning of twenty twenty three,
says the economic times was.
Speaker 4 (01:48:42):
I don't know if they're how reliable they are.
Speaker 2 (01:48:44):
Okay, so he's seventies, like, okay, I'm seventy years old,
I'm not married, I'm divorced. I don't speak to my
kids much except my son, who's a coach with me.
Why not when I say can I get can I
get your number? I mean, how many seven year olds
asked twenty two year olds for their number? And then
he does the he does the uh what did what
(01:49:06):
did Larry? Would Larry David do?
Speaker 4 (01:49:07):
On the curve?
Speaker 2 (01:49:08):
He did the mistaken text like what do you mean
to text you?
Speaker 14 (01:49:11):
Sorry?
Speaker 4 (01:49:12):
And he really meant to text.
Speaker 2 (01:49:13):
Him the mean to text that didn't mean to text
text yes, and yeah they remember there was that video
of him as a fisherman and she was a mermaid.
Speaker 6 (01:49:21):
That was weird.
Speaker 2 (01:49:22):
Sounds like they're having a great time together. Why can't
you just be happy for Bill because he's an un
he's an unhappy person. You don't know that, maybe he's maybe.
Speaker 1 (01:49:30):
He's you're gonna tell me you wouldn't be happy.
Speaker 2 (01:49:33):
Well, I mean I haven't seen him now with a
smile on his face.
Speaker 5 (01:49:35):
And he was grinning ear to ear and he is
so nice, funny during the uh uh, the Tom Brady Roast,
he was living on his best life.
Speaker 2 (01:49:44):
He seems quite happy. You ever noticed him on the
rat Rackafee show. He's always smiling on that.
Speaker 4 (01:49:50):
You couldn't wipe the smile of his face if you
wanted to.
Speaker 2 (01:49:53):
Maybe she's maybe she's attached at his hip, like Cow's attack,
hannahs attached to Cow's hip.
Speaker 4 (01:49:59):
I mean, look at these pictures. He is extremely proud.
Speaker 2 (01:50:02):
I would be too. He's got this Yeah, that's right,
he's got that smile on his face, like, uh.
Speaker 6 (01:50:12):
Huh, what are you gonna do about it?
Speaker 2 (01:50:15):
Yeah? But ross the last thing about this and we're
moving on forty eight year difference. That's that's one of
the old timers, right, How was that old man when
Anna Nicole was hooking up with him? Or well, if
(01:50:35):
you want to call it, I don't know. Well, I mean,
Hugh Hefner had a bunch of young bunnies around him. Yeah,
but Hugh Hefner was made through a chemical lap. I mean,
there's no way that man could do with the things
he's been able to do and live to tell about it,
which is dead. But my point is that he lived
a great life. I mean, Derek Jeter's dating tree is
(01:50:58):
jealous of Hugh Hefner is on the short list Matt
Hall of Fame. Oh no, the list is created by
Hugh Hefner. It's the Hugh Heffner List of greatest Guys
of the Greatest list. Thinking about it, For Hugh Hefner
spent basically sixty years bringing in tens to his house, Hm,
(01:51:22):
multiple women in the room at the same time.
Speaker 5 (01:51:25):
I mean he was able to do it and not
do it, but do that. For a long period of time.
He was dating girls fifty years younger than he was.
Speaker 2 (01:51:34):
Yeah, that's how I was bringing him up. So just
quite serendipitous that they met on this plane. Oh young love, well,
at least for one of them, when of them is young,
one of them feels young.
Speaker 5 (01:51:46):
Guys just took a job at North Carolina you know,
seventy two is now the new fifty two. Apparently you
got Pete Carroll taking the job with the Raiders. Yes,
you had Mac Brown go back to North Carolina.
Speaker 2 (01:51:58):
Who else is old? It's getting into their chance. Hell,
Larry Brown was taking jobs when he was in his
mid seventies. It felt like, well, d'An TONI was in
his seventies when he was still coaching the Rockets.
Speaker 5 (01:52:10):
Yes, I want to say, he looks great, populish in
his seventies, and he yeah, but he's not in great shape.
So yeah, but Greg's in his seventies too, any young.
And then you got oh, by the way, you got
Hubie Brown doing his last basketball game this weekend.
Speaker 4 (01:52:27):
Or thank god he's ninety two.
Speaker 2 (01:52:30):
They gotta let him rest. Well, I don't know he
is going to rest, not in peace, but he wants
us to rest. Period. Ross, You think about this, I
got thirty more years left in this business?
Speaker 15 (01:52:44):
What yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:52:45):
Why not?
Speaker 5 (01:52:46):
Christ I mean think about I mean I still have
him at a game at eighty two. You'll only be
seventy mm.
Speaker 2 (01:52:58):
Don't make me depressed. You're saying that Matt Thomas should
Ross can't go another thirty years I'm gonna say, I
bet the under on that you want to bet.
Speaker 6 (01:53:06):
M we'll see.
Speaker 2 (01:53:09):
I don't think I want to be around thirty more years.
Speaker 12 (01:53:13):
I still can't believe Eli Manning got in the Hall
of Fame. H he said in the Hall of very good.
Speaker 2 (01:53:27):
Alex Bregman still hasn't signed his Breckman still want that
seventh year. I'm looking for my seventh month. Why did
you develop an English accent in your lay way when
you get older?
Speaker 4 (01:53:41):
I heard, now you're just ad yeah meat, he's.
Speaker 2 (01:53:45):
And then you get to mac Brown and lay to
mac Brown in you and you nobody's gonna remember who
Mac Brown is thirty and at least our audience, I
should say, of course, of course he's legendary. Why do
you when you get older, why do you all of
a sudden sound like you're from another country.
Speaker 6 (01:53:59):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (01:54:01):
Like I listened to myself on some old tapes of
about thirty years ago, and I'm I mean, obviously my
voice is deeper, but it's not like it's dramatically different,
like you listen to me to the lineups in nineteen
ninety four to ninety five of the Rockets, I don't
sound that much different do I How often do you
go back and look at those Matt about.
Speaker 2 (01:54:17):
It once every twice or maybe once twice an hour.
Speaker 6 (01:54:19):
That sounds about right, actually to relieve the good old days.
Speaker 2 (01:54:22):
You're rude, you're narcissist at the river. No, but people
are always ask hey, Matt, what's your background on the
rock Okay, we had a little reunion of the thirty
years of this past weekend at the Rockets game and
they played the audio of that in the video of that.
So you know, you gotta get the people what they want.
They want they want, you want history in good times.
Mm hmm.
Speaker 5 (01:54:43):
Non cigarette voice nineteen ninety four, ninety five, still to
this day, non cigarette voice. So it okay, I'm proud
of you, Matt, Thank you. Twelve forty three. It is
the Matt Thomas Shoe Ross seven one three two one
two five seven ninety seven one three two one two
five seven nine zero. If you're on Twitter, want to
follow us, We'd love to have you at Sports MT,
at Sports RV, and at Connor the Mug Governor.
Speaker 4 (01:55:05):
Let's tell you about love volleyball.
Speaker 2 (01:55:07):
I hope that you are a volleyball fan like my

their next match at the end of this month. Looking

For taking information information about this brand new major league.
(01:55:52):
It's l ovb dot com for League one Volleyball. Houston's
got a team.
Speaker 18 (01:55:57):
Load up on those napkins, straws, catch hot sauce, mustard,
Oh when don't forget duck sauce. It's The Matt Thomas
Show for launch on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 2 (01:56:11):
Twelve forty eight on the Matt Thomas Show. Ryan Howells
is going to join us from a space of the
networking about ten minutes from now give us his thoughts
about the all the trades that.
Speaker 6 (01:56:20):
Happened during the deadline time.
Speaker 5 (01:56:23):
By the way, front of the show, Ryan can't wait
for me to say good morning the strippers when I'm
eighty years old.
Speaker 2 (01:56:32):
I don't think I'll build to talk three seconds of
coughing during that. What the what the crank up the
oxygen machine?
Speaker 6 (01:56:39):
That's crazy.
Speaker 5 (01:56:40):
By the way, we mentioned earlier today about Super Bowl
what do you want to call it?
Speaker 2 (01:56:47):
Party tips? And we've got let me recap those we've
gotten so far.
Speaker 4 (01:56:51):
This is what you need to do.
Speaker 2 (01:56:52):
These are the dues and don'ts Ryan says, take a
shot for every flag that'll be their On average, that's
thirteen flag.
Speaker 6 (01:57:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:57:00):
I want to be able to stay awake for the game,
so that would never happen. Ragnariss Jello at funeral Potatoes.
That's for the obviously, the LSD, LSD, the LDS crowd
that might be on LSD, don't host the party and
use a streaming service to play the game.
Speaker 6 (01:57:17):
I agree with that.
Speaker 5 (01:57:18):
No talking during the commercials that's too difficult to do.
And then Bonnie sends us a couple here. If you
are a real and true football fan, just don't attend
a Super Bowl party.
Speaker 2 (01:57:30):
Watch it.
Speaker 5 (01:57:30):
You'r home with a few friends, alone with your spouse,
or at a sports bar. Better viewing the game itself
rather than peripheral party stuff. Okay, I understand that. Bonnie
also says, better tip, don't attend a Super Bowl party
at all. If you're a real fan and a true
football fan, is better to be in the comfort of
your own home or at a sports bar for viewing
(01:57:51):
pleasure and enjoyment. She says, Ladies, do not assume all
females want to gather in another room and talk about
your kids, your grandkids, your nail hair salons. Some of
us females actually want to watch the game. Look at
Bonnie Joe coming in strong.
Speaker 4 (01:58:04):
Ouch.
Speaker 6 (01:58:08):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:58:09):
Wally says, bring your own caso and chips, so when
you eat all of it, no one can say anything
about it.
Speaker 2 (01:58:16):
That sounds like he's had some experiences of eating all
the case so that sounds quite specific and personal.
Speaker 5 (01:58:23):
Now, what is your general rule about bringing dips and cases?
You leave the food there right, absolutely Okay, I agree
with you on that. Now, if it's a bottle of
it depends on the liquor. If it's like a regular
cheap o liquor, it's fine. If you bought something, brought
something really nice just to share a little bit with everyone,
you can bring that back. What if you bring a
case of beer and only four of the beers are consumed,
(01:58:43):
that's twenty beers left. There is there a certain number
of beers that have to be left in order for
you to say it's yeah, it's as many as you
can fit in your pockets and that's it. Okay, here's
one from Brandon. Required departure time out by ten pm.
Speaker 2 (01:58:59):
Oh yeah, GTFO games at five thirty should be done
by nine, eight thirty nine at the latest.
Speaker 4 (01:59:07):
Yeah, get out?
Speaker 2 (01:59:09):
All right? I need a ruling.
Speaker 5 (01:59:10):
I have not been a part of one this year
because I've been out of town. But how do we
feel about Super Bowl squares these days?
Speaker 4 (01:59:15):
I love Super Bowl squares?
Speaker 2 (01:59:17):
I do too, but I feel like I get the
worst numbers every single year. I get nines and fives
every year. Man, there was one year here at the
is the work doing it? This year? I have not
seen anything well, because you've been out of town for
six months.
Speaker 6 (01:59:30):
That's true.
Speaker 2 (01:59:31):
Now nobody even knows you work here anymore. Yeah, I
don't miss the commune. I'll be honest with you. Is
there any chance you can come and live with me
and we can do the show out of my house?
Speaker 6 (01:59:44):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:59:45):
Oh wow? How much? Actually I got?
Speaker 4 (01:59:46):
Everything has a price?
Speaker 6 (01:59:47):
Right? Is a price?
Speaker 2 (01:59:50):
We have squares at the office this year?
Speaker 8 (01:59:52):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (01:59:52):
Or no?
Speaker 4 (01:59:52):
I haven't seen them go around.
Speaker 2 (01:59:53):
I would like to too.
Speaker 5 (01:59:55):
Okay, all right, By the way, one other thing, we're
cleaning up some of the we were talking about the
Goal time list of people like Hugh Heffner's list is
the greatest, and hear Jater's in there. Wayne Son just
made the email.
Speaker 2 (02:00:07):
How about Prince's Princess Prince's Prince Posphias his list mm hmmm,
Appollonia mm hmm, Sheila E. Kim Basinger, and Carmen Electra hmm.
(02:00:28):
By the way, Carmen Electra is on the Dennis Rodman
list too, Am I not mistaken?
Speaker 7 (02:00:31):
Right?
Speaker 6 (02:00:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:00:33):
They were married with Madonna.
Speaker 6 (02:00:35):
I believe on that list.
Speaker 4 (02:00:38):
Yeah, we we've gone through.
Speaker 2 (02:00:40):
We did literally have Fantasy five of this which we
probably wouldn't do these days. No, I don't think we
can do that. We called it a hit list. We're
not saying that a se Connor McGovern is shaking all right.
This is a different time Connors years ago. That was
Fantasy five. In twenty seventeen. We're more much smarter and
more mature than we used to be.
Speaker 4 (02:01:00):
I'm glad I wasn't a part of that.
Speaker 2 (02:01:04):
I can't even remember who won, but we took like
Frank Sinatra, Michael bou Blaize got quite the list. Michael
Bolton probably had a good list back. Michael Bolton. Yeah,
let me tee you.
Speaker 5 (02:01:13):
I mean you got Michael Bolton krooning at girls like,
for instance, was what I was listening to Howard Stern
and he had Share on. Share has a book out
now about her life and she's alive.
Speaker 2 (02:01:24):
Shut up, you knew she was alive?
Speaker 7 (02:01:26):
What? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (02:01:27):
Yeah, good for her.
Speaker 2 (02:01:31):
Share wrote a book. She's gonna write her life.
Speaker 5 (02:01:35):
The first half of her life is in this first book,
and then she's going to write the second half of
its two.
Speaker 2 (02:01:40):
SHARE's like seventy five. You know where she's been into,
what she's done in her life. So that does not
have you shame Share. It's like a sixth book anthology.
It's like I ordered The Rings Saga.
Speaker 4 (02:01:51):
I will read it too. I'm a big share.
Speaker 2 (02:01:53):
You're not reading it. You still haven't read a book
since Tory Spelling. Okay, that's fair too. Point being is,
I'm a big shaf fan. So where's it going with this?
Speaker 6 (02:02:02):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (02:02:03):
I don't know. Stern asked her. She said, was there
one person?
Speaker 8 (02:02:06):
You know?
Speaker 5 (02:02:06):
She she she has some relationships and people in the
music business. Clearly she was was there one in the list?
And that would have should have been the list? And
she said Michael McDonald. She says that guy. He his
voice is one of the sexiest voices out there.
Speaker 2 (02:02:23):
So, I mean, is it Michael? Did Michael McDonald have
a sneaky list?
Speaker 3 (02:02:28):
We don't know what.
Speaker 2 (02:02:29):
I feel like half of America can sing like Michael McDonald. Yeah,
you just you didn't go ahead.
Speaker 6 (02:02:33):
Put your lips real leaped tight together.
Speaker 2 (02:02:35):
Oh dum. You don't have to really say he's not great. Oh,
I think it's great. Mostly talentless Michael McDonald. You know what,
I'm just trying to make you and it's working.
Speaker 4 (02:02:51):
You are successful in that.
Speaker 2 (02:02:53):
Yeah, But I bet prints back in the day, like seventy.
Speaker 6 (02:02:56):
Nine to eighty three. He did quite well.
Speaker 2 (02:02:58):
No, not even from from the Yeah, from any five
to like two thousand until his death, he had that
he had twenty five years of a list. Oh yeah,
come on, Prince, that's true.
Speaker 6 (02:03:13):
That's interesting.
Speaker 2 (02:03:14):
May he rest?
Speaker 5 (02:03:15):
Yeah, he said, Wayne says Vanity Apolloni or Shila E,
Kim Basinger, Carmen Electra and so many more.
Speaker 2 (02:03:21):
Apparently said so many more. It's so like you're doing
a promo for the Grammys. Yes, well, Beyonce, Lady g
GA and so many more.
Speaker 5 (02:03:31):
Yeah, well, it's like if you did, if you were
if you were doing a promo promo of Derek Jeters.
Speaker 2 (02:03:35):
Let's you take an hour and a half to get
through that list.
Speaker 6 (02:03:39):
Yeah, I get it all right.
Speaker 5 (02:03:41):
Uh seven one three two one two five seven ninety
seven one three two one two five seven ninety h.
Jones says, let the host enjoy the game. Whatever you
whatever you bring, no matter what's left, leave it. The
host opened their home. That's absolutely one percent correct, unless
the host insist, Hey, I'm not like, for instance, if
you probably cake okay, and everybody had one piece, but
(02:04:03):
you left like three quarters of the cake left and
it's just a husband and wife or two friends.
Speaker 2 (02:04:09):
They say take it home, we're not gonna eat it.
Then then you do it, but you have to wait
for the You have to wait for the host to
absolutely say please please take it home, we're not gonna
eat it.
Speaker 8 (02:04:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:04:17):
How you refuse once and then the second time you
take it, or if you refuse twice, it's like this
g Stanz a.
Speaker 4 (02:04:22):
Rule, Yes exactly.
Speaker 2 (02:04:25):
Also it says do not bring mazzarella sticks to the party.
Got that?
Speaker 4 (02:04:29):
Who says that?
Speaker 5 (02:04:31):
That's from Larry Footsack. That's all inside baseball. Also, this
is rs jr D cases. Also, is not a day
to try out new recipes. There shouldn't be a bathroom
wait during the game. I would say, do not eat
hormale chili during the Super Bowl parties?
Speaker 2 (02:04:53):
What you bring your own can? What are you talking about?
Somebody like you should not serve a dish that involves
chili on top of anything, because you can. You want
to be able to have your friends and family enjoy
the game without feeling by only ill. What if it's homemade, Jilly, Oh,
that's really on you? I would say, yeah, I mean
if you're gonna start I mean, if you're gonna start
(02:05:14):
something in a crock pot, don't you go in with
the little weenies?
Speaker 5 (02:05:17):
One of those things called little smokies. Little smokies is
there a classic classic delictions?
Speaker 4 (02:05:22):
I crush them little.
Speaker 2 (02:05:22):
Smokies, Chips and queso. You get a toothpick.
Speaker 4 (02:05:27):
Oh, it's so great.
Speaker 2 (02:05:28):
You what you can also do?
Speaker 6 (02:05:29):
You just go to Big City Wings and bring it home.
Speaker 2 (02:05:31):

can do. Big City Wings has huge party packs. They

fifty seven minutes left to go on this radio program.
We have non flora stories coming up in twenty five minutes.
Hell yeah, not in forty five Ross, what is your
non flora story from.
Speaker 2 (02:07:14):
Huh me? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:07:15):
Yeah, you outside of Florida?
Speaker 15 (02:07:17):
All right?
Speaker 2 (02:07:17):
And what is today's edition of Hell yeare not.
Speaker 6 (02:07:19):
In forty seven minutes?
Speaker 4 (02:07:21):
Yeah, we'll figure it out, all.
Speaker 5 (02:07:22):
Right, Let's talk to our friend Ryan Hollins, great front
of the show, a legend everywhere we go in the NBA,
who was signing autographs for hours after the Rockets Wolves
game last night because he was once a former Minnesota
Timberwolf Rhino.
Speaker 4 (02:07:36):
How are you, my friend.
Speaker 6 (02:07:39):
Bello's Did you get some good.
Speaker 2 (02:07:41):
Sleep last night? Or you will wrestless yourself.
Speaker 6 (02:07:45):
Being were always restless, Matt.
Speaker 14 (02:07:47):
You know the challenges of the road and shoot, it
might be even tougher as a as a non player
in some instances, but nonetheless, man, we are having a
blast this season. There are no complaints, plants it all.
Speaker 2 (02:08:00):
We will get to the Rockets coming up a little
bit because they're trying to staf a five game losing street.
But let's get to the trade deadline. And you look,
you have, as I've teased you a look before.
Speaker 5 (02:08:08):
You got friends in every NBA city, coaches and executives
from your world of your pals. Everybody's been shocked by this.
But where do you put the Luca trade in the
perspective of all.
Speaker 2 (02:08:23):
Time wow moments?
Speaker 4 (02:08:24):
As you being a broadcaster and a former player in
the NBA for ten years.
Speaker 6 (02:08:30):
Coming, it's got to be number one.
Speaker 14 (02:08:33):
You we can look back and search to moments where
you say, hey, Charlotte straight it away the rights to
Kobe Bryant, So the Lakers for Vlatti, divots and some picks.
You can you know, look at the blockbuster trades from
James Harden and Kevin Durant.
Speaker 4 (02:08:49):
You know, when the Warriors were assembled.
Speaker 14 (02:08:51):
I think that maybe second that was pretty much a
you know, a wow moment there, or maybe it was
a signing forgive me. But I think it's definitely number
one because you get a megastar, a guy who could
who can play at the highest of levels. You know,
there's only a handful of them at twenty five years
old and being moved, so that the magnitude, I don't
(02:09:14):
think we've seen this before.
Speaker 5 (02:09:17):
So can you find value in the Dallas part of
the trade or is this gonna be Look, every trade
is a wait and see, Rhyan, we know that, But
is there any immediate value for the Mavericks. We know
that a healthy Luca gives immediate value to the Lakers.
Speaker 14 (02:09:34):
Yeah, absolutely, man, I think Lucas so great that you
forget what you have in Anthony Davis, all NBA first teamer,
an All Star god, can actually impact the game obviously,
know there's just a question of health. You know, the
age is there. Anthony Davis is a world champion, so
you know he brings a dynamic they hadn't had. And
(02:09:56):
you got to understand, Luca has missed significant time this
season in several other seasons. So I don't think you
can compare as far as age and obviously the value
that Luca brings to the table. But I'm telling you
Anthony Davis can shift a franchise.
Speaker 4 (02:10:11):
So as far as right now.
Speaker 14 (02:10:12):
You know what it tells me is Dallas was focused
on getting in the mix sooner than later and fellas
which you have to understand, there's new ownership over there,
there's a new way things are moving and you can
look over and this is obviously a different scenario. Look
at the Phoenix Suns when they transferred ownership right away.
(02:10:33):
Forget the young assets, Go get me Kevin Durant, go
get me Bradley Bill. They want to win now. They
wanted to put butts in seats now. So I can't
say that Anthony Davis would put butts in seats the
same way as Luka Doncis, but in the term of
they want things. Now you can assume that that had
been maybe a large part in reasoning of why that triggered,
(02:10:57):
was that trigger was pulled.
Speaker 2 (02:10:59):
Ryan also Ross here with you in Houston, and I
have a very important question for you. I need a
full scouting report on Matt Thomas's bowling prowess and does
he have a first round grade?
Speaker 4 (02:11:10):
Oh God, no, don't do this right.
Speaker 14 (02:11:13):
Here's the thing when it comes down to Matt. You know, mobility,
he's probably a two.
Speaker 8 (02:11:17):
Uh.
Speaker 14 (02:11:18):
Confidence he's writing it. He's in the nine range with confidence,
zill he's a seven. Charisma he's a ten. The charismos there,
he's incredibly likable. But you know, Matt has an inability
to bend his knees and that comes pretty when when
you're showing a ball down a lane straight legged.
Speaker 6 (02:11:40):
You know.
Speaker 14 (02:11:40):
So I think we're all reading up an age. And
now the fact that we golf got out injury free
from bowling spontaneously.
Speaker 13 (02:11:50):
Really worked out.
Speaker 2 (02:11:51):
At the end of the day, we win for all, Okay,
So we got to work on the flexibility and he'll
be fine.
Speaker 14 (02:11:57):
Yeah, Yeah, yeah, he can. You know, I mean, I mean,
I mean, we're just talking about a slight man, you know,
I mean, this is I mean, this is I mean
he went Granny style at one point in.
Speaker 2 (02:12:05):
Time in fall.
Speaker 14 (02:12:07):
You get them, you know, somewhere in the ballpark.
Speaker 2 (02:12:12):
All right. About the Rockets, though, Ryan, obviously they're on
this tough stretch. They've lost five games in a row.
Just you, especially as a former player, can you give
us a little perspective of I mean, you're on a
stretch of fourteen games on the road out of eighteen,
you're going from city to city. How much does that
really wear on the team or how much is it
they just have to play better when they're on the floor.
Speaker 14 (02:12:33):
Man, It comes down to for one, this is the
most competitive NBA season that we have ever seen to
The Rockets have a big target on their back, man,
And it's different when you're the hunter versus being the hunter.
They're a hunted team. They can't sneak up on anybody,
and anyone with a jersey on this playing against the
Rockets has a chance to play their best basketball, you know,
(02:12:56):
And at the end of the day, injuries are a
large factor. The Rockets have been incredibly fortunate to have
not really had the injury bug where you can look
down the league and see injuries, and I think there's
actually stats behind that. Then you see the value of
a guy like Fred Vanvlie. But most of all, for
a player around this time, it's not even just a physical.
The physical is gonna be there. Everybody sinks to this mentally.
(02:13:19):
You infanto that All Star break and that is tough,
and you got a lot of guys playing out of position.
Speaker 6 (02:13:25):
Obviously there's games you'd like to have back.
Speaker 14 (02:13:27):
But the one thing that I know about this group,
they're gonna work hard, They're gonna compete. They've done some
really good things on the floor, and now in your
situation and go out and finish it.
Speaker 6 (02:13:36):
But to think about the.
Speaker 14 (02:13:38):
Load that Fred has had within the last two years,
that's an irreplaceable position.
Speaker 2 (02:13:43):
Ryan Holland's Spacity Network our friend here on the radio program, Ryan,
we get folks that have fallen in love with them
and Thompson as of late, and we're looking for a
player comp and I think Ross and I have decided
we're not gonna comp him, but we're gonna ask you,
is there anybody you played with anybody you watch that
you think that's a lot of the men Tompson I'm
seeing right now.
Speaker 14 (02:14:04):
Now, I'm gonna make you dig into your history books, Matt,
and this may go over a lot of Texan's heads here,
but for one I want to say, and I put
this out publicly there, he's the most unique player that
I've ever seen in NBA history. He does not have
an NBA comparison. His closest comparison, which is funny, and
we need our real basketball historians Cedric Boseman out of UCLA.
(02:14:28):
Cedric's the closest thing that I can point to as
far as the men Thompson outside of his own twin. Obviously,
he was a big point guard. When we went to
the National Championship, he slid over to play the three position.
Speaker 15 (02:14:40):
He's an unbelievable defender, quick.
Speaker 14 (02:14:42):
Twitch, and as far as in that comp with big
point guard, really developed off the ball, got better on
the ball, got drafted to the Atlanta Hawks. That's probably
the closest thing that I know personally two of men.
But other than that, NBA wise, there just isn't one.
And I've never seen a player that young could do
in the way that a men produces. He plays like
(02:15:02):
a ten eleven year vet. And if we're if we
if we really want to search, it's Matt Thomas. You
really want to be a jerk about it? Okay, maybe
you can say, andre Igodala, you're gonna force me to it, Matt.
Maybe Iggy as a guy who kind of was playing
the point in Philadelphia, got a lot of money and
then really first playing off the ball, ends up being
(02:15:22):
a finals MVP and does just about everything that the
Warriors needed. But I think there's an even higher ceiling,
and there's in the uniqueness for a men.
Speaker 2 (02:15:30):
Thompson speaking to u c l A.
Speaker 5 (02:15:34):
First of all, Ross, since he outed me on the
bowling Ryan finds every u c l A player he
finds in the league, and he like they have a
warm embrace.
Speaker 2 (02:15:44):
They talk about Paul Pavilion and last night, Ross, it
was Jalen Clark. Oh d boy, Jalen Clark from u
c l A. Who's up with bat?
Speaker 4 (02:15:54):
Ryan Hollins.
Speaker 14 (02:15:56):
Man, I mean I had apologized on our error. I
mean I I should have kept my mouth shut until
after the game. I mean he was going off. But honestly,
the thing about Jalen he missed time. He came into
the league, hurt. Minnesota believed in him what he brought
to the table, and he's an unbelievable kid and it's rare,
and we just talked about him.
Speaker 6 (02:16:13):
Man, it's ready.
Speaker 14 (02:16:14):
She get young guys that are like, hey, what's my job?
Play defense, get an open three and just compliment the
stars on the floor. And you know, I just kind
of let him know that he was going to get
his number called when he least expected it. And that's
kind of how the NBA works. And he got thrown
in there and he was affected by just doing his job.
(02:16:35):
A men Thompson starring your row. Do your job. But
it would have been nice if he hadn't waited, you know,
till after we played him to do what he did.
Speaker 4 (02:16:44):
Yeah, all right, last question for let you run.
Speaker 2 (02:16:46):
Tell me about how scary scary Tiaron Fox can be
in San Antonio.
Speaker 14 (02:16:52):
Man, he's a closer. You put the ball in his hands,
he's fearless. You got winby and it's gonna be different
because of the thing about Fox is really some Bonus
was the point guard. He was kind of the primary
and Fox was able to just kind of go in
for the basketball, so he's going to be asked to
be more of a score you sure he can probably
(02:17:13):
glean some things from Chris Paul. I doubt that Chris
would want to buy out or want to get out
of there. I think he chose Wimby and San Antonium
for a reason. And then if he can develop a
two man game with women Yama, I mean ext to
be something special there. So it's a unique situation. And
again because Fox is more comfortable scoring the basketball, to
see how that fits with Wimby, if he's going to
(02:17:35):
be asked to distribute more or maybe Winby as it
from a passing aspect, can kind of take some things
from what Sa Bonus was able to do in Sacramento.
Speaker 5 (02:17:46):
Rossen and a ruling. I asked Ryan if you wanted
to go get a bought you tonight. But I've not
heard word one about it since the original invitation. Do
I bring it up again or I just let it fade.
Speaker 4 (02:17:55):
I think two invitations is fair.
Speaker 14 (02:17:57):
He's busy, man, You got it for one for one
he got to answer from me, dude, And I told
him I got family here and I will try to
bring family to Habachi. He knows that, and what he's
hiding is that we had asked him to do habachi
several times and he's blown me off for a habit
that he has that I will not disclose on air.
Speaker 2 (02:18:18):
It's casino. It's the casino.
Speaker 4 (02:18:27):
This is terrible.
Speaker 2 (02:18:29):
I've been I've been working with him for fifteen years. Ryan,
that's the Matt Thomas experience. He only wants to be invited.
He doesn't care. He can invite you six times, and
you can You're gonna invite him six times, and he
just wants to be invited so we can say no.
Speaker 14 (02:18:41):
And he's so responsible it's disgusting. I mean, the guy
just splits even every trip. It's ridiculous when you lose
and he's like neither.
Speaker 2 (02:18:49):
But we did get some good juicy lucies in Saint Paul,
Minnesota a couple nights back. Yes, oh how much they
he did?
Speaker 6 (02:18:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:18:59):
I wanted. There was a juicy Lucy challenge for Ryan
Ross that he did not take. It was eating for
two doubles, which have been four patties, yeah and fries.
Speaker 4 (02:19:08):
You get a free T shirt, and he did not partake.
Speaker 2 (02:19:10):
I heard that was the light word for you, Ryan,
it was.
Speaker 14 (02:19:14):
But Ross the problem is nobody wants the fries.
Speaker 15 (02:19:16):
Bro that's gonna get you.
Speaker 14 (02:19:18):
The burgers wouldn't have been a problem.
Speaker 15 (02:19:20):
It was the fries.
Speaker 14 (02:19:20):
I don't want like two pounds of fries.
Speaker 2 (02:19:22):
I got you. Come on, all right, uh, family for me.
I'll see you tomorrow or maybe all right.
Speaker 14 (02:19:29):
Dude, you you might save me whatever, whatever, Dude, goodbye,
I love you, See you later.
Speaker 6 (02:19:34):
Ryan Hollins our friend of the show. I love Ryan.
He is so funny.
Speaker 5 (02:19:38):
He rossy, and and you know, I'm not one. I'm
not a very nice person. At the at the end
of the day, he's one of the nicest people you'll
ever meet.
Speaker 4 (02:19:45):
That's great.
Speaker 2 (02:19:46):
Yeah, I totally agree with both of those statements.
Speaker 6 (02:19:48):
Yeah, I figured you would.
Speaker 5 (02:19:49):
All right, seven one, three, two, two, five, seven nine.
Non Florida story. So coming up in fifteen minutes, Hell yeah,
not in thirty five.
Speaker 4 (02:19:57):
Back to studio and here's ROSSI.
Speaker 2 (02:19:59):
Yeah, because it's Super Bowl weekend, you know it's here.
How do you make the action even sweeter? You do
it with Draft Kings pick six, giving you a shot
to turn a little cash into a lot. We've been
doing these spotlight picks. It's the final NFL pick of
the year. I got a couple of picks for you.
Let's start with Sama JP Ryan more than seven and
a half receiving yards. P Urin has gone over this
(02:20:21):
total sixteen out of nineteen games. This year. Eagles got
the number one rerun defense in the NFL. What does
that mean? Third and longs check downs for samajp Ryan
third down back in any two minute drill as well,
you're basically just gonna need one catch for this. So
I really like samajp Ryan more than seven and a
half receiving yards. Also, this is a big one. Folks
(02:20:44):
say Kwan Barkley less than one hundred and thirty and
a half rushing and receiving yards. I know you're scared
because what if he just breaks one? And yeah, we
do have to run that risk. But you have a
top ten rush defense with the Kansas City Chiefs. Steve
Spagnolo has two weeks to know they're going to have
to key in on the run. This has good market
value as well if you look other places on the market.
(02:21:07):
Six yards of value from adding Russian reception, which only
adds up to one hundred and twenty four and a half,
so you might get a big run from Saquan, But
I am saying we are not going to I'm going
less than one hundred and thirty and a half rushing
and receiving yards with the Chiefs top five in rush
yards allowed before contact and rush yards after contact. Not
(02:21:27):
that he's saying he's gonna be get completely bottled up,
but less than one hundred and thirty and a half.
I think we can do it.
Speaker 4 (02:21:32):
It is Super Bowl weekend.
Speaker 2 (02:21:33):

Speaker 5 (02:22:58):

to about thirty eight minutes left in this or winning program.
Speaker 2 (02:23:03):
The folks of the Marconi's have called they want air
check of this show today.
Speaker 6 (02:23:06):

Speaker 2 (02:23:06):
It's nice thing to say that, Wow, maybe will be
one of the top major market radio shows in the country.
I think we're at least top twenty in my eyes.
Even though that dumb ass consultant doesn't like the show
because we don't pay.
Speaker 4 (02:23:18):
For his service.
Speaker 6 (02:23:19):
That's a shame you.
Speaker 2 (02:23:20):
We'm gonna get in on the payroll.
Speaker 8 (02:23:21):
Matt.
Speaker 6 (02:23:22):
You know that guy does.
Speaker 5 (02:23:22):
All he does is underperforming radio stations and makes some
worse and charges people on arm and a legging. Has
these national conventions where people have to pay three and
fifty dollars to listen to other people brag about how
crappy their stations are.
Speaker 6 (02:23:35):
And that's good.
Speaker 2 (02:23:37):
Seven one three two five s Diety as the phone
number I pulled the Matt Thomas three.
Speaker 6 (02:23:42):
You see that?
Speaker 2 (02:23:43):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 6 (02:23:43):
I don't know what you're talking about.
Speaker 5 (02:23:45):
Seven one three two one two five seven night I have.
You're sending me one non floorest store. I have a
second one that I think I may have already mentioned,
but it's so good as worthy of repeating.
Speaker 2 (02:23:53):
Okay, involves a prostitute. Yeah, that sounds like you would
like it. And you're not talking about Belichick's girlfriend. H No,
she's not a prostitute. She's just got daddy issues, granddaddy issues.
Speaker 4 (02:24:06):
Speaking of granddaddy's best gut, what's going on at one fourteen?
Speaker 11 (02:24:10):
You're right, hey, First of all, the easton to that
list for Prince Man. Prince Prince had all he had
a roster.
Speaker 2 (02:24:22):
Has no doubt who you had in the list.
Speaker 6 (02:24:24):
I didn't hear you.
Speaker 11 (02:24:25):
Sena Easton she was on the list.
Speaker 15 (02:24:29):
Yeah, yeah, she on that list.
Speaker 8 (02:24:31):
Man.
Speaker 11 (02:24:32):
That dude had a roster, that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (02:24:35):
Ross.
Speaker 16 (02:24:35):
I'm gonna throw some names out at your Ross and
here we go.
Speaker 15 (02:24:38):
What kind of need what hey say? How about Junior Bridgeman.
Speaker 2 (02:24:44):
Junior Bridge, Milwaukee Buck Great Junior Bridgeman.
Speaker 11 (02:24:47):
Huh yeah, Brian Winners White, David Meyers, no chance, No.
Speaker 15 (02:24:54):
No Elmore Smith.
Speaker 6 (02:24:57):
You don't know who that is.
Speaker 13 (02:24:59):
This is who the Lakers traded for.
Speaker 16 (02:25:02):
Kareem Abdul Jabbar back in nineteen seventy five.
Speaker 6 (02:25:04):
Well, there you go, now, Ross Ross, at.
Speaker 16 (02:25:10):
That point in time, Kareem was a three three time MVP, Yes,
and he had won a championship. This was the worst
trade of all time. Now, I know Holland said, you know,
but Holland's is what holds Holland's forty Man, I'm telling you,
I'm not saying it was a great trade, but y'all
got to stop saying as the worst of all time.
Speaker 6 (02:25:31):
It was.
Speaker 2 (02:25:31):
Also, we don't have to remember that Kareem asked for
that trade. He didn't want to play there anymore. So
this was the Well, Luka Doncas didn't ask for a trade.
Speaker 16 (02:25:41):
Okay, but a trade is a trade, isn't No, But.
Speaker 2 (02:25:44):
Doesn't it trade?
Speaker 8 (02:25:46):
No?
Speaker 2 (02:25:46):
If we're asking somebody that has asked for a trade,
then their leverage goes down, right. Nico Harrison and the
Mavericks had all the leverage in the world if they
would have put it into a bidding war.
Speaker 16 (02:25:58):
Unless Luca wins a couple of championships with the Lakers,
it's possible.
Speaker 6 (02:26:02):
It's possible.
Speaker 19 (02:26:04):
I just don't I'm not.
Speaker 8 (02:26:06):
I'm not ranking it up there.
Speaker 16 (02:26:07):
And and the last, but not least, Cooga mad.
Speaker 15 (02:26:13):
I got the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (02:26:17):
Seventeen all right, you know what, I think America would
appreciate that.
Speaker 5 (02:26:20):
Thank you for the phone call. I really do believe
that She's fatigue is real. I think that I think
they would love to see the Eagles win it. And
that's rare because how many times do we ever have
a Philadelphia sports team that America collectively roots for?
Speaker 6 (02:26:36):
Never?
Speaker 5 (02:26:39):
I mean now, when Doctor I used to like the
seventy six ers, when Doctor J played, but I wasn't
a fan of theirs.
Speaker 6 (02:26:45):
When Allen I.
Speaker 5 (02:26:46):
Everson was doing his thing, Joel embiid does nothing for
me now, James Harden, Paul George, Who, Paul George.
Speaker 4 (02:26:54):
Sixers legend, Jimmy Butler.
Speaker 2 (02:26:58):
Yeah, I think that's going to work on Golden Stairs.
Its gonna be matter if if in that, it's not
gonna be great, it's not gonna end well, they're not
gonna win anything he got.
Speaker 6 (02:27:08):
He got so much money. Good for him?
Speaker 5 (02:27:11):
I mean, how how did he pull that off? How
does somebody that's been pissed off in four different cities
get away with that?
Speaker 6 (02:27:21):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (02:27:22):
He's not a generational talent.
Speaker 4 (02:27:24):
No, he's a great player. Went healthy.
Speaker 2 (02:27:29):
M m hmmm. All right, he drugged that Miami Heat
team to the finals in what twenty twenty or whatever
it was.
Speaker 5 (02:27:35):
That's true, that's true, all right. Prediction time Biscuits said,
twenty three seventeen Eagles. Okay, see what you got, I
have to do it right now, right this second. You
want to save it for a second, the end of
florest short now.
Speaker 2 (02:27:50):
Twenty six twenty three Eagles. No, wait, that's an over
I want to under as well. So I'm gonna go
twenty four to twenty two Eagles and then just feel
like an idiot when the when the Chiefs inevitably win again.
Speaker 4 (02:28:06):
Because the officials are gonna help him.
Speaker 2 (02:28:08):
No, I'm not saying like fifteen crews have helped him
during the I'm not saying that you are. I just
think I prefer the Eagles on both lines of scrimmage.
And that's what it boils down to the game is
one in the trenches twenty three twenty Eagles. Brandon Man
(02:28:34):
front of the show. Yeah, he's gonna He's gonna be
the super Bowl MVP.
Speaker 8 (02:28:39):
No.
Speaker 2 (02:28:39):
Two fifty yard plus punts.
Speaker 4 (02:28:41):
Wow, like that that sounds great.
Speaker 5 (02:28:46):
I wouldn't check Taylor's Twitter account. She's not made who
picked yes yet Taylor? But she's on a beach in
Costa Rica if you're interested in seeing such a thing. Okay, family,
people love her large sunglasses.
Speaker 2 (02:29:00):
And that's nobody's looking at her sunglasses. Nobody even knows
that she has eyes. Okay.

Speaker 4 (02:31:54):
I thought, you know, why not?
Speaker 2 (02:31:55):
Boys, have you ever been to Hampton, Virginia. No, they
have a police officer there where He was a police officer.
His name was Jarron Harry. He lost his job. Boys, sadly,
why is Gordy.
Speaker 4 (02:32:12):
Calling me right now?
Speaker 6 (02:32:13):
Hey? Yeah, I shouldn't be calling me. I'm doing a show.
Speaker 5 (02:32:17):
Maybe He's got a great guest for us well, but
he can Texas, but I'm busy here. He had a
less than satisfying encounter with a prostitute.
Speaker 4 (02:32:25):
On December thirtieth, Oh No.
Speaker 5 (02:32:28):
Harry met twenty year old Alexis Dream of Copeland by
the way, that's her name is.
Speaker 4 (02:32:33):
They call her the Dream.
Speaker 2 (02:32:35):
On an app and arranged to meet her one day
in an apartment in Virginia Beach. They agreed to shower together,
but Copeland never came into the bathroom. Instead, she lifted
Harry's phone, her his keys, his wallet, and his car
with police credentials.
Speaker 4 (02:32:56):
Police were able to track down the car in Norfolk.
Speaker 2 (02:33:00):
One told them Harry had given her permission to borrow
the car, but she was charged with grand larceny, credit
card fraud, and prostitution. Harry, meanwhile, was not charged. It
was terminated on January the seventh.
Speaker 5 (02:33:15):
Thoughts of Prayer to Jaron Henry and his career as
a Hampton, Virginia police officer for agreeing to have a
shower with a prostitute but she.
Speaker 4 (02:33:22):
Never entered the shower. That's my non forest final one, you.
Speaker 2 (02:33:29):
Know, Matt. It's like Lil Wayne said, life is a
beach and these hoes trying to.
Speaker 4 (02:33:33):
Lay out is that song on my phone or not?
Speaker 6 (02:33:38):
No, that's correct.
Speaker 2 (02:33:41):
That's a shame.
Speaker 6 (02:33:42):
All right.
Speaker 2 (02:33:42):
I'm gonna do mine so I can get out here
and write some more.
Speaker 4 (02:33:45):
Believe it or not questions.
Speaker 2 (02:33:46):
That's fine, matt. Let me taste you to a place
called Bogota, Columbia, beautiful metropolis. I think it's got a
population of like over ten million people. Of course, in
Latin America, where Colombian President Gustav Petro has made a
statement during a six hour ministerial meeting broadcast live for
(02:34:11):
the first time ever, he said, quote, cocaine is illegal
because it is made in Latin America, not because it
is worse than whiskey. Scientists have analyzed this. He says
cocaine is no worse than whiskey, and he thinks that
it should be legal worldwide. If you want peace, you
(02:34:32):
have to dismantle the business of drug trafficking, and he
could be easily easily be dismantled if they legalize cocaine
in the world, it would be sold like wine. I've
never partaken any sort of cocaine activity, so I cannot
give you any sort of comment rock. Okay, so we'll
turn down a planting for this. Then he's the I believe,
(02:34:53):
the cocaine authority. He likes to ride the white horse,
as they say. He says, it ain't you're white. I
don't want it. Yes, we're talking about cocaine. Yes, that too.
Speaker 6 (02:35:06):
Jeez.
Speaker 2 (02:35:08):
Never done a substance in my life. According to this
news report, cocaine production in Columbia reached a record high
in twenty twenty three, jumpering to twenty six hundred tons,
according to the UN Office on Drugs in Crime. All right,
there you go, and that was your non full story.
Get busy with believe it or not. Okay, bye, Connor,
(02:35:28):
you got another one that I got a story for
another one for you already.
Speaker 19 (02:35:32):
Well, I'm sure everybody at the grocery store has noticed
that the price of eggs has skyrocketed due to the
recent bird flu outbreak.
Speaker 2 (02:35:39):
Yep.
Speaker 19 (02:35:39):
But it seems as if as if some criminals have
had enough, as there was a heist of over one
hundred thousand eggs from the back of a distribution trailer
in Pennsylvania. The eggs were worth about forty thousand dollars.
Police have not been able to crack open a lead,
as they are still looking for possible witnesses and any
surveillance footage that could help them identify the robbers. Prices
(02:36:02):
of eggs are approaching a record high, with the Agricultural
Department predicting eggs prices will soar to another twenty percent
this year. So some robbers curating a heist, stealing over
one hundred thousand eggs, and they're.
Speaker 2 (02:36:18):
Selling into waffle House, and they're making extra proper because
they're charging fifty cents an eight egg extra now right, basically.
Speaker 19 (02:36:23):
I guess So I don't know. Well, they said the
eggs were worth forty thousand dollars, So what are you
gonna do?
Speaker 4 (02:36:27):
Sell them? You can't eat them all? Connor, what's the
most you pay for an egg? For like one singular egg?
Speaker 2 (02:36:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (02:36:35):
I mean I paid ten dollars for a single egg
and a fancy restaurant in a hotel on.
Speaker 4 (02:36:38):
The NBA Street. It's just telling you, Uh, what's the
what's that?
Speaker 8 (02:36:43):
Uh?
Speaker 19 (02:36:43):
Like a poached egg with like hollandaise sauce. I was
at a few Benedict.
Speaker 4 (02:36:46):
Yeah, there you go, egged. That was pretty expensive.
Speaker 2 (02:36:49):
That's a good.
Speaker 4 (02:36:50):
That's a brunch spot.
Speaker 2 (02:36:51):
All right, next, all right, here we go, uh my
last run floor story.
Speaker 5 (02:36:56):
Spirit Airlines rear It Airlines shaking up it's in flight policies.
Speaker 4 (02:37:01):
They've got a new dress code they unveiled this week.
Speaker 2 (02:37:06):
That could have some passengers grounded for wearing revealing clothing
or displaying offensive tattoos. Under the updated terms of Rear
Contract of carriage, passengers are prohibited from wearing see through outfits,
(02:37:27):
exposing private parts, or displaying lude obscene or offensive body art.
The budget Carrier clarified the guests agreed to these terms
when buying and booking their tickets, making adherents mandatory. Connor
had asked a simple question. If you can't fly that
(02:37:49):
airline because of all those things, why would you ever fly?
That's the only airline that allows that.
Speaker 4 (02:37:53):
Kind of stuff? Man, The ticket price must be very,
very cheap.
Speaker 5 (02:37:58):
Isn't part of the charm of flying airlines? To see
who's on the plane with you?
Speaker 2 (02:38:03):
People people watching? Oh my god, it's the best people
watching airline.
Speaker 6 (02:38:08):
Now.
Speaker 5 (02:38:08):
I'll be dan if I ever get on it. But
I'm just telling you, I love the fights at the gate.
I love the ones the ticket counter. If the fights
at rear at airlines are good at the airport. Imagine
how good they are thirty five thousand feet but no
belly rings, no no tattoos, no seat through junk.
Speaker 4 (02:38:27):
They try to class up the joint, classing up.
Speaker 2 (02:38:30):
Rear at airlines. And that, my friends, are your non
Flora stories for the week. Seven one three, two, one
two five.
Speaker 5 (02:38:37):

young little friend. They apparently had an in memoriam segment
ross of people that passed away from the world of
professional football.
Speaker 4 (02:39:26):

Speaker 2 (02:39:29):

the in memoriam on the NFL Honors last night?
Speaker 4 (02:39:45):
Can you name who that was?
Speaker 2 (02:39:47):
Were they like really old? They died this year? They
died this year? Yes, that's usually what it takes to qualify, right. Yeah,
I wouldn't say. I would say not super old, but
I would say elder lee. Why would Ross don't even
give him hint? Well, the thing is, I saw it.
We had to move the show along here, folks.
Speaker 20 (02:40:06):

the game feed last night when we were broadcasting, But

a demand on ESPN. The Rockets Travel Party says the
Netflix one is amazing. That The only thing I was
told today yesterday we were talking about this was it
makes the LA Police Department look even worse than previously. Yeah,
that was the thing when I finished it last night.
It's four parts.
Speaker 20 (02:41:09):
