In this podcast episode,  We discuss the 369 Billion Dollar Inflation Reduction Act, from the Biden Administration… for  climate change investments, solutions to reduce the high costs of living, which can help with lowering costs for households that may not otherwise know they have access to such opportunities. Who is this green economy really for? We break it down with Michelle Romero, Chief Strategy Officer at Dream.org who is using policy for change. From early beginnings out of college fighting for immigration rights to seeing how we can be the future for climate change at Dream.org for Social, Racial and Economic justice. Michelle has seen the "green" movement from a popular stand point or lens, from save the polar bears and turtles and hugging trees, etc.,  but as a Latina on the outside looking in, she states, "we support the brown and black folks in GREEN for ALL messaging and that's where she found herself working at the intersection to help our communities.  How can we invest and build for the future, invest in our communities for a sustainable future if economies are not investing and creating opportunities for communities of color. Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
