That was just the beginning for one family who moved into their country home in Sherman more than a decade ago. TVs and blenders turned on by themselves. Children whispered about voices that wouldn’t stop at night. Guests refused to sleep in the basement because of the feeling of being watched.
Then things escalated. Bedroom doors slammed in unison. Neighbors saw a figure staring out of upstairs windows when no one was home. The family themselves saw shadows climbing trees, a man in overalls disappearing into a wall, and even heard the doorbell ring in the middle of the night—only to find no one there.
The strangest moment came years later, when they joined a local ghost tour. The guide was asked about the most haunted house he had ever investigated. His answer? A home in Sherman on a cul-de-sac surrounded by cornfields—their home. He described the property perfectly, confirming what they had long suspected.
And then there was the night they heard a phantom train whistle from tracks abandoned decades earlier.
