Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm time to crack open the sports page with the
Orlando Sentinel at FM ninety six nine.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
The games might the bulldog beyonn Jr.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
I I think we've connected with the Lakeside Mansion this morning.
We got your bulldog.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
You were close Lakeside manner. You know it manor.

Speaker 4 (00:20):
The sports page brought to you by Aggressive Appliances.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Unlike the big box stores.

Speaker 4 (00:25):
At Aggressive Appliances, you're dealing with appliance experts, not some
part timer who was working in the paint department yesterday
and today's trying to answer questions about the reliability of
a Whirlpool ice maker. Right, don't shop passive shop Aggressive
check them out Aggressive Appliances dot Com. The Detroit Piston

(00:47):
said they learned something about themselves by rallying from three
to one down to beat the Magic. They put that
lesson to good use last night. They beat the Cleveland
Cavaliers one eleven to one ohero one in game one
of their second round series. Kate Cunningham, who Magic fans
are all too familiar with, He scored twenty three points.

(01:08):
Tobias Harris had twenty two lead the Pistons, who are
the top seed over the Cavaliers. By the way, the
Pistons had lost twelve straight playoff games to the Cavaliers
until last night, so good for the Pistons for ending
that drought. Speaking of the Pistons, JB. Bickerstaff, their coach,

(01:30):
he sort of let into the Orlando Magic for firing
his good friend Jamal Mosley. It was expected. Those two
are good buddies. They even know their families, even vacation
together during the offseason. So JB. Bickerstaff not happy with
the Magic. Moses gonna have a lot of time to vacation.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
He's got additional time so he can get it, get
the place all set up for when Bickerstaff is ready
to find him.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
Jamal Moseley may be ahead. He may get the Pelicans
head coaching job here pretty quick, so I don't know
how much time off Jamal Mosley.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
He's well thought of an NBA circus.

Speaker 5 (02:04):
I loved him. I loved him.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
I'm pissed that he got fired too. I understand it's
the NBA. You know you're not no. I kind of
remember when we met him at the Mikeys a couple
of times. He was our nice guy, funny. Yeah, agree, agree,
it's not a knock on him as a human being. Yeah,
I'm just saying I'm a little pissed that he got fired.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
So I wrote a column in Today's Sentinel. You can
read that Orlando Sentinel dot com, of course, about Billy
Donovan perhaps returning to the Magic.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
I'm not so sure Magic fans are all that fired
up about it.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
We talked about it on our show yesterday, and a
lot of Magic fans, Oh.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
He stiffed us nineteen years ago, you know, we don't
want him now. I'm like, that was twenty years.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Is it that or more of the vibe that this
would just be a land and ride.

Speaker 5 (02:50):
It out last stop?

Speaker 2 (02:52):
You mean like a career ender.

Speaker 5 (02:54):
Yeah, that's the vibe I get.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
Well, I don't know Billy Donovan. Even though he's sixty two,
he's a young sixty two. He's Billy Donovan. He's still
well thought of an NBA circles as well. He got
the most out of the talent that he had in Chicago,
which wasn't much. So we'll see what happens. There's a
lot of good coaches out there. You got Billy Donovan,

(03:17):
you got Mike Budenholzer, the former Milwaukee Bucks coach, you
won a championship.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
You've got Tom Thibodeau.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
Of course, who got fired by the Knicks last year,
even though he led the Knicks to the Eastern Conference
Finals for the first time in like a zillion years.
So there's some good candidates out there for the magic.
We'll see what happens. Of course, people are mentioning Dusty May.
We talked about him, the head coach of Michigan. I
don't know if he's gonna jump to the NBA or not.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
He's crazy to do that.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
Yeah, the other NBA game last night, the hated Lakers
go down and go down hard to the Oklahoma City
Thunder one oh eight to ninety. Oklahoma City just rolling
through the playoffs. They swept their first round series. They're
now five and oh in the playoffs. Uh, and they're
not and they're playing without Jalen Williams, who's one of

(04:07):
their all stars. He's not even played throughout the playoffs.
And they're still rolling their opponents. The Lakers, of course,
still without Luka Doncic. I think the Lakers are gonna
get swept in this series.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
See do you see Okac and the nickt guys, what
do you think?

Speaker 4 (04:25):
I think the I think the n b A would
love to have O. K C and the Spurs and
Wimby in the in the finals, because Wimby is sort
of the new face of the n b A. So
I think that's who the NBA would like.

Speaker 5 (04:39):
But I don't.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
The Thunder are so good. I don't know if the
Spurs are gonna be able to beat the Thunder. And
Plus the Spurs are one down one oh to Minnesota,
so we'll see if they even get into the conference finals.
What can I say something about the hockey playoffs last night? Hey, Minnesota,
how did that taste?

Speaker 5 (05:01):
Huh?

Speaker 2 (05:01):
How did that taste my lunch?

Speaker 4 (05:04):
The Colorado Avalanche just rolling in Minnesota?

Speaker 5 (05:09):
Taste Hockey Reference?

Speaker 4 (05:10):
No, Well, five to two, five to two. They beat
the Minnesota Wild last night. How many goals have they
scored in the first two games?

Speaker 5 (05:20):
Fourteen goals? A lot? Yeah, yeah, they.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
Scored nine in the first one, five in this one.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
Fourteen goals in two games and they lead two to
oh in that series.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
How good are the lanch Lynch You're thet.

Speaker 5 (05:35):
Kids Colorado and Carolina.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Man, Okay, that'd be good. That'd be a good A
good final.

Speaker 5 (05:44):
All right. Hey, Stefan Diggs.

Speaker 4 (05:47):
Stephan Diggs acquitted in court. He was accused of assaulting
his personal chef, who's a woman. I guess all sorts
of stuff came out during the trial. They she was
more than just his chef, and this and that and Yeah.
He gets cleared by the court system, but now he
has to go through the NBA or the NBA the

(06:07):
NFL's protocol. NFL could still discipline him for this incident,
even though he was cleared by the court system. We'll
see what happens. He will get picked up by an
NFL team.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
I don't know who.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
We have to discipline ourselves. We made an NFL penalty yesterday.
None of us called each other out on it. We
did have some listeners point out that the Indianapolis Colts
no longer playing Baltimore.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Oh did I call him the Baltimore Colts. Yeah, And
neither of us caught it.

Speaker 5 (06:41):
So we're with ten yards on each of us. There,
it's a thirty yard penalty. There you have it.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
College football, the American Football Coaches Association, which all the
major college head coaches are a member of, it is
recommending eliminating conference championship games, shortening the college football season
so it ends the second week of January. I love
all the recommendations they made, although they have no power

(07:08):
when it comes to the College Football Playoff. So we'll
see if the cf CFP committee takes any of these recommendations.
But yeah, if you're gonna have all these extra playoff games,
you need to get rid of something. And why not
get rid of the conference championship games and just have
the regular season go toward who's your conference champion?

Speaker 2 (07:29):
What's the matter with that? Isn't that how it should be?

Speaker 5 (07:31):
I agree?

Speaker 4 (07:33):
Right, agree, Plus, you can't ask fans to just travel
week after week after week.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
They also are proposing preserving an exclusive window for the
Army Navy game, but still allowing playoff games outside of
that exclusive window that.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
Week on the same day.

Speaker 5 (07:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:52):
Yeah, the Army, they have the conference championship games on
the first week in the January, and then the Army
Navy game is traditionally the following week, and they have,
you know, the whole day to themselves. But I guess
now they're not going to have the whole day to themselves,
should they?

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Should they have the whole day of themselves.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
I think this would be a nice compromise as long
as they have the exclusive window, because yeah, so that's
got a great tradition there.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, let them play the one, let them
play no other games at that time, but then you
can play later in the day and at night.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
So no question about it.

Speaker 5 (08:25):
So we got a prize this morning to give away.
He has.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
Speaking of football, we have tickets to go check out
Orlando Pirates taken on Fisher's Freight.

Speaker 5 (08:33):
Kia Center Arena Football. Yeah, May night.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
All right, if you'd like to check that out, we'll
open up the phone lines here, just grab somebody at
random four oh seven nine one six one oh one one.
