Speaker 1 (00:00):
Scott Gordon.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
This was in a classroom lecture by a professor at
KU the other day. I'm not sure what the original
topic was, but like a lot of professors do, it
swerved into politics.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
Guys are smarter than girls. You got some serious problems.
That's what frustrates me. There are going to be some
males in our society that will refuse to vote for
a potential female president because they don't think females are
smart enough to be president. We could line all those
guys up and shoot them, and they clearly don't understand

(00:35):
the way the world works. Did I say that it
scratch that from the recording. I don't want the Dean's
hearing that I said that.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Okay, that I believe was during a lesson about sports
and exercise. Well, I guess you know, shooting is a
part of sport. Lining up and then shooting someone because
of their political views. Certainly, we're going to welcome on

(01:04):
here the executive director of The Lion, which you can
find online at Readlion dot com. Michael Ryan of The
Lion joins us here on news radio eleven ten KFA
be Michael, good morning.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
Good morning, Scott, thanks for having me.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Who is this professor and what was the lesson supposed
to be about.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
Well, the name that has been identified is doctor Philip Locock,
and apparently he was talking about sleep deprivation and the
difference between males and females that I don't know how
it beared off into talking to you about, you know,
shooting people that don't vote for Kamala Harris.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
He starts off saying the clip is you know, men
are smarter than women. It seems like he was saying
something before that. Based on his later comments, I'm presuming
that he wasn't trying to stress that men are smarter
than women. I think he was saying that if you
think men are smarter than women, that there's no place
for you in society. And then has any swerved into

(02:04):
you know, there will be men who don't vote for
Kamala Harris. They should be lined up and shot. Now
people say, oh, he was joking, he was bloviating, and
plus Donald Trump does that kind of thing all the time.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Well it's not funny, I mean, particularly in our toxic
culture today, in both politics and academia. I mean, you're
talking about the culture that many believe has given rise
to two assassination attempts on former President Trump and the
other thing. First, obviously, it's violent rhetoric and imagery and

(02:44):
that should have no place in political or academic dialogue.
But also this is kind of indicative of what maybe
an epidemic of teachers at every level bringing politics into
the classroom. It's a captive, coercible audience. It's a form
of indoctrination. It's not education, and that's completely inappropriate.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
How was it that people became aware of this? I
don't think a lot of people were probably watching the
video camera recording of this class about what'd you say?
The class was supposed to be about diet sleep?

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Yeah, yeah, he was talking about sleep deprivation. Apparently there's
a difference between men and women on that. And you know,
this snippet of video was put out by several sources
on x and boy went crazy. You know, he was
worried about the deans hearing about what he said. It's

(03:40):
all over the world.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Now, So what response do we have from the University
of Kansas based on what this This video has been
seeing millions of time on social media. Certainly KU is
aware what has happened with this professor.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Well, he's been placed on administrative leave one would as
soon paid leave, pending for their investigation. The statement from
the university said the instructor offers his serious apologies and
deeply regrets the situation, which is totally in conflict with

(04:17):
the tone he took. I mean when he said, gosh,
I hope this isn't being some scratched that from recording,
he was sounding pretty insincere about that, pretty sarcastic about that. Right.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Yeah, that's the impression I got, is he he didn't
suddenly realize like, oh my gosh, this is being recorded.
I shouldn't he that's a joke, you know. He said
it like, oh boy, I don't want my deans to
find out what I just said. Scratch that from her.
Here's a guy who feels like he can't be touched,
is the tone I heard?

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Yeah, exactly, And you know, and they tried to excuse
it away in this university statement, saying his intent was
to quote emphasize his advocacy for women's rights. Well, I mean,
there are there are more appropriate ways to stand out
for women that blatantly endorse a Canada in the classroom

(05:08):
because he's a woman, and I had Immediately after this
got out, one comment or to me reacted by saying, sadly,
the mealy mouthed approach to disciplining them probably means people
will be back at his job in no time.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Could be I mean, sometimes administrative leave pending further investigation
means you have a teacher, perhaps with tenure, and you
can't just fire him on that day. There's a process,
as this is the first step in this process. That's said,
what do you think the situation might be If he's
standing up in class and he suggests that any woman

(05:49):
who votes for Trump should be shot, any man, any
man votes for Trump, or anything like that. If it
if he was more maga, well, well, okay, let's look
at it this way. Let's say he's more maga and
he says, if you don't vote for Trump, you should
be shot. And he's like, I'm just kidding. What do

(06:10):
you think the university response on that would be?

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Well, I think you can guess. I mean, And here's
the situation. KU has a problem overall with conservatives. I
kind of googled what I've written about KU just since
twenty nineteen, and here are some of the headlines. KU

(06:35):
sorority punishes student for posting conservative views. KU seeks art
illustrating Chick fil A's impact on students. Can you imagine
them doing that with Hearty's KU student body president's death
to America tweet? Petition calls for abolishing KU's campus police department.

(06:56):
KU video class discussion Thai capitalism, actual violence. It sounds
systemic to me.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Which college campus are you going to find us any different?

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Though?

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Well, it's a pandemic, there's no doubt about that.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Yeah, that's that's true. Talking with Michael Ryan, executive editor
of The Lion Online at Readlion dot com. So when
the university comes out and says we're aware of the video,
the instructors on administrative leave and deeply regrets the situation,
I believe that. I believe he deeply regrets that it's
blown up like this and it was on video, and

(07:34):
now people are holding him accountable for his thoughts. Have
we heard from any of the students in there, especially
since if you're correct and identifying this professor as doctor
Philip W. Locock, director of International Student Athlete Support for
Kansas Athletics as well as the Health, Sport and Exercise
Science lecturer, this guy is working with student athletes and

(07:58):
you know some influencers on campus, let alone just anyone
taking this class. Have we heard from any of a
students said KU about this?

Speaker 1 (08:08):
Yeah, I mean there's been a lot of comments online.
You know, one student saying that I'm you know, I'm
there and this is this is not representative of KU.
I would I think people can make issue with that.
Somebody else posted a couple of comments from some of

(08:28):
this professor's students that rate my professor. One said loconk
makes the class quote very uncomfortable with quote sexual jokes,
even when the jokes are completely off topic. And another
student said he quote openly speaks poorly of men and
that women are better. Bizarre and overly political.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Yeah, this comment that, as he says here, there'll be
some males in our society that will refuse to vote
for a potential female president because they don't think females
are smart enough to be president. He's just throwing that
out there, like this is fact. Who did he cite
as a source on this one? Why would he say
something like that other than just to say if if

(09:14):
you're a male and you don't vote for Kamala Harris
you're the dumb one for thinking that women can't be
in leadership roles. I don't know any men who say
that other than this guy.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
Well, yeah, I mean that's blatantly playing the gender card.
And you know, it's kind of emotional, black male to
suggest that if you oppose her, it's because she's a
woman and there's no other reason to oppose her whatsoever,
you know, And going back to the toxic nature of
the imagery of you know, lining men up and executing

(09:50):
them for not voting the way you know, the Kremlin
ones or whatever. It's really adding to what is all
already horrible toxic culture. There was a recent poll in
which twenty eight percent of Democrats so they believe the
country would have been better off if Trump had been

(10:11):
assassinated twenty percent. Another twenty four percent said they aren't sure.
So that is fifty two percent who are okay with
the idea of Trump being assassinated. That's pretty toxic.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
To say the least. The Lion is online at Readlion
dot com and you are, if not the first among
the first publications online publications to have the story. Now
more mainstream media has picked it up since the University
has said, yes, we're aware of the video and the
professors on administrative leave. They're not even identifying the professor.

(10:51):
I don't have to tell you, Michael, as executive editor,
but I want to read for KFAB listeners this morning.
Some of the latest stories here at read lion dot com.
Transgender medicine essential to military recruitment, say Democrats, and tight
races serious problem. America's cutting edge weaponry is dependent on

(11:12):
Chinese tech, expert warns. And then this one that just
burns me up. Virginia parents live in after gang member
who threatened her murder classmate returns to school, which we
see all too often and talk about a lot here.
So these aren't stories I see in mainstream media publications.
So with that in mind, Michael tell us about The Lion.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
Yeah. The Lion is a national Christian education news site
of the Herzog Foundation, which is a five to one
cea tree in Smithville, Missouri that exists to advance the
cause of Christian education. However, part of that is covering
some of the culture out there in the secular world.

(11:58):
So we cover all men of education, but also faith
in the public square and many of these other issues,
says this story at KU because it does impact the
culture and you know how Christians are treated in society.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
What are you working on next? Can you give us
a heads up?

Speaker 1 (12:22):
What am I not working on? That's the question. I
got lots of situations going on with election. I'm also
working on a different website called Heartlinernews dot com, which
is a secular news site covering mostly Missouri and Kansas
from a light of centered perspective, and we're looking at
the upcoming election vocally.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
