Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jack ganon government sucks. Suit of happiness radio is DeLux.
Liberty and freedom will make you smile. A suit of
happen and us on your radio Toel Justice cheeseburger saying
a liberty fries at the food.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Pesta all right. According to recent polling data, seventy two
percent appearance, seventy two percent appearance want a toy for Christmas.
I guess men want something that bounces, and I assume
women want something that vibrates. Hi, welcome, I'm Kenny Webster.
Good afternoon. Daniel Turner joining us from Power the Future
(00:38):
in just a little bit oddly enough, the original the
original climates are I almost said borders are the original
climate Zar is in trouble right now. Not John Kerrey,
not John Podesta, no, Gina McCarthy and Daniel Turner will
be here to tell you why. Also stopping by Brandon
Waltons from Texas scorecard dot com. If you live in
Southeast Texas and item and if you're hearing my voice,
(01:01):
you probably do. Maybe you've heard by now, maybe you haven't.
But Ken Paxton, your Attorney General, just stopped in and
made sure that Lena Hidalgo had a very bad day.
We'll give you all the details on that, soa hang
out for that. But first, speaking of well, speaking of
liberals using the government to do whatever they want, how
about Liz Cheney. Is she great or what? Townhall dot
com today reporting the House Oversight Subcommittee, which by the way,
(01:25):
is headed by Chairman Barry Laudermilk of Georgia, just published
a report. The report is one hundred and twenty seven
pages long, and it does not make Liz Cheney look good.
It details a lot of shady conduct related to the
January sixth riot and investigation at the US Capitol Building
and the Democrats Select Committee that was ostensibly aimed getting
(01:46):
to the bottom of what happened on that day. You
know what is really interesting in the report here is
the conduct of Representative Liz Cheney, former Representative, disgraced Representative
Liz Cheney. She served on the committee. Yeah you remember that.
You remember she used her position to attack President elect
President Donald Trump. The report suggests she exercised undue influence
(02:08):
over the committee's proceedings so she could target the President
elect while working to promote the narrative that he incited
violence on January six Boy, this woman really loves war.
Just imagine she did all of that to get revenge
on Trump because he criticized the war in Iraq. Amazing.
The report concludes by recommending in an FBI investigation into
(02:31):
Cheney's behavior. The Oversight Subcommittee referred to Cheney's public statements
as evidence that her only focus during her stint on
the Select Subcommittee was Trump and not the systemic security
failures that occurred on January sixth. I'm sorry you're blaming
Trump for letting rioters into the Capitol when the US
Capitol Police actually escorted them onto the floor of the Senate.
(02:53):
Was the point of doing that? You know what? The
point was to make Trump look bad about it?
Speaker 1 (03:00):
You know.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Back in March, Cash Pattel called attention to the fact
that the j six Subcommittee suppressed evidence and that that
scandal actually not only exonerates Trump, but it makes Liz
Cheney look very bad. The greatest con job ever to
happen in American politics was the false January sixth insurrection narrative.
(03:21):
The singular mission of this narrative was to stop Donald
Trump from ever setting foot in the Oval office again.
And they failed, didn't they. I think a key pillar
of the leftist propaganda about so called insurrection was to
distort the truth. The truth had surrounded whether Trump authorized
prior to January sixth the deployment of National Guard troops
(03:41):
to keep order on that day, turns out he did.
The main architect of this disinformation was none other than yeah,
guess who, former Congresswoman Liz Cheney. Cash Patel detailed how
during his time on Capitol Hill as a chief investigator
for the House Intelligence Committee, he briefed then Congressman Liz
Cheney on the critical findings of the Russian Gate investigation
(04:05):
back in twenty seventeen. Cheney consumed that information in a
political fashion, and she promised to do something about it
with her important position to actually right or wrong. She
did not. She actually went in the exact opposite direction
and started helping the Democrats, and then came the January
sixth sub committee, and then she even campaigned for Kamala Harris.
(04:29):
The neocons were liberals the whole time. America is now
very aware of the vast public disinformation campaigns that were
carried out by the left wing political operatives. It's going
to be very hard for people like Liz Cheney and
her allies to move forward in Washington, d C. They
tried to rig the presidential election. Didn't work, did it,
(04:51):
Because you can't rig public opinion. To the corporate media
that was forced off this search for the truth, and
to those who were intimidated into silence, you failed. You
failed your country, you failed yourself. Thanks to a few
brave Americans, the total exoneration of Donald Trump, both in
the court of law and the court of public opinion,
(05:12):
is complete. Donald Trump didn't cause January sixth. Hell, he
tried to stop the riot. The truth matters. The truth
keeps us free. That's worth fighting for. And the good
news is, folks, we're just getting warmed up with this stuff.
Donald Trump hasn't even taken office yet.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
Kenny Webster's pursuit of happiness where we certainly realize we're
a heart attack away from President Kamala.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
You got it in that. It's a good time to
be alive. Kids. It feels good, doesn't it. Take a
look around, look at how great things are. The economy is,
it could be worse. The national crime statistics are well,
they're not great, But the labor report is, oh, that's right,
false information there Well at least this incoming administration isn't
(06:00):
a bunch of hacks. We've got that going for us. Fortunately,
you still have the outgoing administration to deal with. And
in fact, it goes a little bit deeper than that.
You know, the original borders are before it was John
Kerry or who else? Was it? Podesta with his spirit
cooking thing? Do you know that? Did you know that
our Did you know that the climates are they accused
him of? Did you know they accused him of eating
(06:22):
human flesh in a WikiLeaks article? That's besides the point.
Once upon a time it was Gena McCarthy. Gina McCarthy
was the original climatezar. She could control the weather with
Jewish space lasers. All right, Well maybe that isn't exactly true,
but interesting thing about her former Biden climates are that'd
be your Gina McCarthy. A headline here just published earlier
this morning at Daily Caller News Foundation says Gina McCarthy
(06:45):
apparently pushed Alejandro Majorcis that would be your Department of
Homeland Security secretary to ease up on a Chinese company
linked to slave labor. Now, I'm sure we all agree.
You know, pollution's bad, right, but isn't slavery also bad?
There's an interesting question to be asked here in the
hierarchy of needs, where do neo liberals put slavery and
(07:08):
climate change rhetoric? And I weirdly enough, they seem to
be more concerned about climate change than slavery, which is
particularly fascinating. As I pointed out so many times on
this radio show in the past, there are more slaves
on Earth today right now, at this exact specific moment,
than there were during the entire Transatlantic slave trade in
(07:29):
North America. I'm speaking specifically about how many slaves were
in North America during the Transatlantic slave trade versus today,
and there are more slaves today. Geena McCarthy is apparently
more concerned about having a friendly relationship with the communists.
But rather than my explain it to you, I invited
a very smart man on the show. He's actually an
environmentalist himself, and he's also a reasonable person who's an
(07:51):
advocate for the energy industry. Ladies and gentlemen, Daniel Turner
from Power of the Future. Daniel, did I explain all
that correctly?
Speaker 4 (07:58):
But all you've explained it brilliantly, And and I this
time of year always poke fun of that annoying song
from our childhood that the Brits sung that do they
know it's Christmas time at all? And the song that
was going to solve all of Africa's problems because Bono
and Bob Geldoff got into a recording studio and that song,
(08:18):
I think it's around forty years old. Yeah, he shows
you that at least.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
George Michael was supposed to solve the world's problems. Instead,
all he got was gay sex. What's up with that,
Daniel Turner?
Speaker 4 (08:29):
And forty years later, they don't do anything like that. No,
we can laugh at that. At least it had good
intentions forty years ago. It was to eradicate hunger. Africa
now has higher slavery than it did forty years ago,
and no one is singing a damn song about it.
No one is making a Christmas. No one's ruining your
Christmas with images of Sub Saharan slave children working in
(08:53):
Congolese cobalt minds. And here's Gina McCarthy who is trying
to push for, you know, easing sanctions, and hey, don't
make life so hard on these Chinese companies. Yes, they're
guilty of slavery, but you know, they make solar panels,
and so in the hierarchy of liberal values, solar panels
(09:16):
made by slaves fall below the climate crisis. Right, climate
crisis is greater than children working in slave minds, and
that's who we're dealing with when we talk about the
green agenda.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
Yeah, isn't it weird how much Hollywood and pop culture
has changed since the late twentieth century. Back in the eighties,
they used to record songs like band Aid, we Are
the World, or what was the thing the heavy metal
guys did? I forgot what it was called. It it a
horrible name. But then in the nineties, to your point,
in the nineties, all the alternative rockers in America and
England got together, Porno for Pyros and the Foo Fighters
(09:51):
and Oasis and Radiohead and a tribe called quest in
Patti Smith, and they did something called the Tibetan Freedom Concert.
Apparently it was very importan and back then to defend
religious rights and liberties in communist China. But now it's
not anymore, Daniel, Did the world change or did they change?
Speaker 4 (10:10):
It's remarkable. I just their values definitely changed. And then
all those groups became covid enforcers right, rage against the
machine became rage for the machine. And now you look
at Hollywood as a whole, and they all aligned with
Kamala Harris. They all were at our concert. They were
all aligned to Hillary Clinton back in the day. And
(10:32):
now Hollywood's kind of useless. Now a Hollywood endorsement actually
hurts you. But I do think they can use their
platform for some good. You know, nobody did more good
for world peace than George Clooney using his platform to
help Donald Trump win the election. Right, So they can
use their platforms for good.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
So awesome. I never thought of it that way. What
if George Clintey is like a Maga sleeper cell and
this whole time he's he's been sneaking in his right
wing populist policies. Yeah, yeah, I married this human rights
lawyer and everyone thinks I'm low key as socialist, but
actually I love America. Joke's on you, Hollywood.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
He's actually up for the Nobel Peace Prize because when
the result when they resolve the Ukraine War and when
they finally get peace in the Middle East. A look
at George Clooney as having been the catalyst but going
back to the Gena McCarthy thing, which just has me
infuriated all day since this report came out. You know,
this is who we're dealing with when we try to
(11:33):
talk about climate change and they use all this hyperbolic language.
They try to scare you that the oceans are boiling
and the sea levels are rising, and al Gore is
out there are saying, you know, millions of people die
every year. Of course they can't name one millions of
people die every year from the climate crisis. But then
behind the scenes, this is the type of crap they're
(11:54):
pushing for. They're pushing to ease sanctions on companies that
use slave labor. You know, how are those two things
in concert with each other. Can't you be in favor
of a clean environment and also opposed to slavery? But no,
apparently not if you're Gina McCarthy, And you know she
has long been a shill of the communist Chinese. She's
(12:16):
worked at green organizations that have been investigated for their
ties to China. The radical green movement loves communist China.
Proof of that is that you never see them protest communists.
You never even know the call out communist China, and
yet China their emissions, if you want to play the
emissions game, their emissions are more than double the United
(12:38):
States and the European Union combined, more than double. Right,
ninety percent of the world's plastic in the ocean comes
from communist China, right emissions, ground pollution, air pollutions, slavery.
And yet they all turn a blind eye to communist China,
and they just beat the drum of the communist Chinese
(12:58):
agenda because ultimately, the green movement is nothing more than
communism wrapped under some sort of an olive leaf.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Yeah, that's an interesting point, Daniel. We've been told over
and over again, and I'm sure it's true that we've
all got microplastics in our testicles, and it never occurred
to me before those microplastics in my testicles might actually
belong to China.
Speaker 4 (13:19):
Yeah, they probably do. They probably do. I mean, China
is not our friend and it's not our ally, and
we have to stop treating them as such. They have
no desire to help heal the planet or to fight
climate chane. They have a desire for America to go green,
because what do we do we buy their crappy wind
and solar right. We buy their evs, we buy their batteries,
(13:42):
we buy their rare earth elements. So of course China
wants us to go green. Of course they're gonna say, oh,
you guys should support the climate agenda because who gets
rich when we do that? China does. Yeah, right, so
we have to always have a grain of salt. Fhm.
We're dealing with China.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
Right, I assume at the end of the day, is
especially when it comes to Gena McCarthy, this isn't about
climate change, it's not about slavery. This is about money,
because this isn't the only suspicious company with a connection
to a communist nation that she seems to be directly
tied to. For those that don't know, there's another communist
state that's a little closer to us called California that
(14:20):
was once home to a place called Celindra. Soileindra was
a solar panel company that actually under in two thousand
and nine, Obama gave them a half a billion dollars,
more than a half a billion dollars. That was Gena
McCarthy's era in government. And what happened to Celindra.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
Yeah, exactly, And what happened to their supposed product that
they were going to make, but they took the money, right,
they took all the money from the taxpayers, and then
they absolutely disappeared. And right now in this Lane Duck
session something my organization Power the Future is documenting Right now,
they are putting out shovel loads of money every day,
millions billions of grants, giving out the money, giving out
(14:58):
the money. This is the last of Biden administration buying
their golden parachute, hopefully securing themselves a board on one
of these companies. Right, all these people are going to
need jobs in a little while. Let me rephrase that.
They don't want jobs, they don't want to work. They're
going to need income in a little while, and so
they're trying to find some way to secure themselves the future,
and the taxpayers are going to put the bill for it.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
All right, So, Gina McCarthy, do you think she's another
one of these people, kind of like Fauci and Liz Cheney.
We've heard that supposedly Joe Biden is considering preemptively giving
some of these people a pardon. The House Republicans just
accused Liz Cheney of tampering with January six evidence and
information given to him by a witness, and they're asking
(15:40):
the FBI to investigate criminality. Trump says he's not interested
in getting retribution, right. I think an exact quote from
him was, my success will be my retribution. But it
does sound like other people in the government are preparing
it for it regardless of what Trump said. If you
had to predict, I mean, if you were placing a bet,
you know, I want to hold it against you right now,
(16:00):
polymarket dot com, do you think Trump goes after the
Gena McCarthy's, the Liz Chenese, the faucies or is this
kind of like in twenty seventeen or twenty sixteen when
they chanted lock her up about Hillary and then she
was fine.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
No. I don't think that that's retribution. I think that
is justice. And there are some people who have done
some unjust things.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
Right.
Speaker 4 (16:19):
If you are asking the Department of Homeland Security to
turn a blind eye towards slave labor, as Gina McCarthy
asked Secretary of majorcis you are guilty of at least,
if nothing else, you're guilty of violating the basics of
human decency, let alone America's standards of dealing with foreign entities.
(16:41):
Going after these people, to put it as a euphemism,
going after them is not retribution or vengeance. This is justice.
And if we are being asked to uphold these standards,
then the people who get power have to live by
those standards as well. And I don't care if it's
a climate agenda. I don't care. Whatever they is your causes.
You cannot thward human decency because you're worried about the weather.
(17:07):
So no, I do hope these people are brought to justice.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
Daniel Turner, Power the Future. The next time we speak,
Christmas will be over. What are you doing for the
holidays this year, my friend?
Speaker 4 (17:18):
You know, the challenge of having an active farm, a
commercial farm, is that animals need to eat and drink,
and they need water every day. So I stay home
for the holidays because my animals need me. So I
am home. But it's great. It's Christmas on the farm,
and you know, the first to hear the message of
(17:39):
the birth of our Lord where the shepherds and I
have a sheep farm, so I kind of feel a
special kinship with Christmas.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
Can you don't have to answer this question because this
is deeply personal, But I know you as a guy
that's on the Fox Business Channel. I know you as
a conservative activist, is you know, power the future firebrand
Daniel Turner, But also as a friend. You know, you
and I have hung out before. You own a farm?
What percentage of that is your life? Is that half
your life? A quarter of your life? Two thirds? I'm
(18:07):
just curious.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
Well, I mean I have a full time job, and
then I have a second full time job, so I
guess it's another one hundred percent. It just doesn't make anything,
but one day it will be profitable. The goal for
the farm is eventually we're all going to have to
retire or we'll be too old to work, but if
we can have supplemental income, so I started the sheep farm.
(18:28):
We started the sheep farm with four sheep. We're up
to a little bit over one hundred of this pure
bread breed, and little by a little we'll start becoming profitable.
So hopefully, one day, you know, when I'm ready to retire,
I can have the sheep as supplemental income. But for now,
it's just it's just a dream.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
No, I get agree, it makes perfect sense, Daniel. I
do two radio shows a day, but someday I would
really just like to be the owner of a midget
wrestling league. That's my goal in life. You know. Daniel Turner,
Powerthefuture dot Com follow him on x.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
The only thing that hurts more than paying taxes not
paying taxes. Kenny Webster's pursuit of happiness.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
People in England. That was specifically pub owners in England,
the British pubs. They're worried they'll run out of guinness
during the holiday season, mainly because Russell Crowe has been visiting.
Speaker 4 (19:23):
Hi.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
Everybody, welcome back. I'm Kenny Webster coming up in a
little bit. Brandon Walton's is stopping by. But first I
was just looking at the new trailer just released for
Disney's Snow White, Disney's snow Woke.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
This was my father's Kingdom piece of fairness, but the
Queen changed everything.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
Take him away.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
You're out to see what did you say? The people
need some kindness? You know, I really don't remember you
being this opinionated. I thought the I thought the evil
Witch or the evil Queen or whatever. I thought she
was supposed to be ugly. It's gal Gadot. She's prettier
than snow White. It's not even close. Snow White's weird
(20:10):
and awkward in this, and then the evil queen is
a babe, and then I don't know, I didn't watch
the whole trailer. I just watched a little bit of it.
You We've been following this controversy with the snow White
remake for quite a while now. The star of Snow
White think snow White sucks. Her name is Rachel the
unibrow Zeggler, and she does not want you to go
see the movie. She really has tried very hard to
(20:32):
remind you that America's awful, Donald Trump's evil in the
original Snow White was a sick, weird movie. Breitbart dot
com is reporting today on the number of down votes
that Disney's Woke Snow Woke trailer got. It has thirty
thousand up votes. There were so many down votes they
had to turn that the feature off on the YouTube video.
(20:54):
One point four million down votes. Gee. For some reason,
a Snow White remake it wants to gaslight us into
believing Rachel Zegler is more attractive than Gal Gadot is
finding itself very unpopular, downvoted by more than ten to one.
The Disney Grooming syndicates live action remake of Snow White
is scheduled to dead cat bounce into theaters this March.
(21:17):
The teaser trailer for this much delayed boondoggle has now
been viewed eleven million times. It's amazing. It is very unpopular.
You're telling me millions of people downvoted it only if
tens of thousands liked it. If they liked it at all,
we've already gone over all the dumb, smug things snow
(21:39):
White star Rachel Zegler said to undermine her own three
hundred and fifty million dollar movie. No need to do
that again. You've heard all about telling you that movie's
weird and the storyline sucks, and snow White was a satin.
It's like, why are you even in a movie if
you don't like the story. But Zegler and the movie
have another problem. Rachel Zegler is neither like nor appealing.
(22:01):
She has a smug face when snow White should be
the picture of innocence. Someone we're supposed to root for,
someone we're supposed to care and worry about. That's how
stories work. You're supposed to want to like the lead character.
Nobody likes Rachel Zegler Rachel Zegler is so busy girl bossing.
There's nothing vulnerable about her, and it's snow White's vulnerability
(22:24):
that should pull us into the story and give it
its stakes. That's the point of the story. The whole
trailer feels so sterile, so artificial, like it's going through
the woke motions. Gal Gado, of course, is always a
joy to look at. She's a ten, she's a babe.
But the idea being force fed two hours of over
cgibs about the unibrow actress Rachel Zegler being more attractive
(22:49):
than wonder Woman. It's comical. Rachel Zegler looks like someone
pasted Eugene Levy's eyebrows on a thumb. If this thing flops,
you have to wonder how Disney's going to blame the
public for it, Because they will. They'll blame you. It's
your fault. The movie didn't do well. Will they attack us,
call us sexist for refusing to make a head out
(23:10):
of a movie starring a woman. That's a pretty difficult
needle to thread. After the success of the female led
Inside Out two or Wicked, very popular Mona too, all
popular films led with female actresses will Disney attack America
and call us racist because the unibrow isn't white. Well,
that's also a pretty hard sell after the success of
(23:30):
Mona two and Wicked, you know. But the full Snow
White trailers not faring much better. Out of six million votes,
there's only thirty thousand up votes compared to the seven
hundred and sixty two thousand down votes. It's so bad
they had to turn it off. I only knew about
that because it had that information on this news website.
If the movie Snow White bombs, this is going to
(23:53):
be Zegler's second bomb in a row. This comes after
her underperforming Hunger Games prequel. Did you Most people didn't
even know she did that, it was so unpopular, or
her West Side Story remake, which also bombed a It's
a three pete in Hollywood. She's so unpopular. Well, who
are we kidding? When people are unpopular in Hollywood, they
(24:15):
usually give him an oscar for some reason.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
They see whenever you lose sight of the enemy, look
behind you. Yeah, that's a bad paranoia right there, probably
brought on by a bong ripper to Kenny Webster's pursuit
of happiness.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
I don't I don't speak Mexican.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
What did he say?
Speaker 2 (24:33):
Was that about me? They didn't say anything about Grindos?
Speaker 3 (24:36):
Did he?
Speaker 1 (24:37):
Hi?
Speaker 2 (24:37):
Merry Christmas? Will least Navi Dac. We're not done yet, guys.
We got to do a little bit of Tehano news.
Remember when Michael Bloomberg was in Cuba and he was
talking to a reporter about Donald Trump and the border
in Texas, and he told the reporter, He's like, you know,
nobody in Texas calls it Texas. They call it te Hana.
It's like, what the f are you talking about, dude.
(24:57):
Nobody says that. No, Mike Bloomberg, You've never even been
to Texas before. You know, outside my radio studio right now,
you know what they're doing out there in the break room.
They are making Tomali's. That's what we do. We don't
pretend to be call it Tahna or what to know,
but we do eat Tomali's during the holidays and Christmas
because we love that. And you know what else we
love this holiday season right now. I got to think
(25:19):
a lot of Houston residents are loving Ken Paxton. Thank
God for Ken Paxton, the Attorney General of the best
state in America has just stepped in and stopped for
the second time an attempt by Harris County officials to
turn our city into a socialist utopia. And when I
say utopia, I mean an utter, incomplete crapple. Texas Attorney
(25:39):
General Ken Paxton sued to stop the Uplift Harris pilot program.
This is your universal basic income. No, you're not going
to be getting any of this. But what they want
to do here in Harrison County is take all the
local funds, of which already they've dwindled away so much,
pissing away money on their pet projects and hiring musicians
to perform in the airport so they could give five
(26:00):
one hundred dollars a month to some guy that signed
up for it. We don't know why. He doesn't want
to work apparently, but so Ken Paxton is now for
the second time sued and blocked Lena Hidalgo's effort to
do this. And meanwhile, all the while, our mayor, our
mayor has been doing a pretty good job lately. I
think he may be a Democrat, but as far as
a big city mayor goes, he ain't the worst in Texas,
(26:21):
that's for sure. He says there is a very good
likelihood Harris County Judge Lena Hidalgo is not going to
be running again. Now. Every time this happens, every time
we see Ken Paxton step in and do something we like,
I have to remind you Dade Falin, the until recently
Speaker of the House. He tried to stop Ken Paxton
from doing this. And the new Dad Falen is Dustin Burrows.
(26:43):
The choice of the Democrats in Texas. There's a lot
to unpack here, and a lot of news stories that
weave together, Chaos at the border, the race for the speakership,
socialism in Houston. Here to help me analyze it, one
of my favorite journalists in the state, from my favorite
news outlet, Brandon Walton of texascorecard dot com. Brandon, you know,
like I said, a lot to unpack there? Where do
(27:04):
we start with this? Did I leave out any important details?
Speaker 4 (27:09):
No?
Speaker 2 (27:09):
I mean I think you got it here.
Speaker 5 (27:11):
First of all, the you know this Uplift Terras program, right, So,
this this guaranteed income universal basic income program, such a
bad idea that I'm surprised it was able to get
through once. Right, But okay, they tried this once, like
a year or so ago. It gets struck down because
Attorney General can pacts and fights against it, says no,
(27:33):
this is not constitutional, and then they literally try to
have another bio at the apple. They literally just try
the same thing again. In surprise, it also gets struck down.
You know, for every piece of attention that's been placed
on this by people in the county, by county officials,
and by people like Lena Hidalga, you have to think,
(27:53):
is there anything else that the county government could be
spending their money on right now and spending their time on,
instead of trying to repeatedly push through an unconstitutional program
that essentially just gives away money to people.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
Right.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
Yeah, it's exactly correct. And you know, for all the
time that liberals and Democrats spend bitching about jerrymandering, I
find it just remarkable that back before the last election
here for local officials in twenty twenty two, the Democrats
in Harris County redrew the district the precinct lines, and
they got rid of one of our conservative Harris County
(28:28):
Commissioner Court members. It's the only guy remaining now is
Tom's Ramsey. So of course he's outnumbered on this uplift
Houston thing. Nobody wants this. Nobody's sitting around saying wouldn't
it be great if we had more socialism in Houston?
So thank god for Ken Paxton. But I can't help
but think back on this speaker race. It all goes
back to Dave Faalen. Every time Ken Paxton does something
(28:49):
you like, remember that date Falen tried to stop him
from doing it. The latest on this whole thing is
Dave Falen is out and Dave Faalen is supporting Dustin Burrows.
Is that correct from Lubbock?
Speaker 5 (29:00):
Yes, Dustin Burrows is you know they had a vote
right A couple of weeks ago, Republicans chose their candidate,
Republicans in the Texas House, and they chose a representative
by the name of David Cook to be the Republican
candidate for speaker, and Dustin Burrows lost that race. Well,
instead of you know, conceding getting throwing his support behind Cook,
now he's going to Democrats trying to get a few
(29:23):
Republicans to join Democrats in order to be able to
take over the speakership in January. It would be an
absolute continuation of what we've seen from Dade feeling over
the last several years where Democrats are put in charge
for Republican priorities or stymied. And it's in total contradiction
(29:45):
to what we saw happen in the elections. Right, and
you think about what voters just said in November, where
you know, Texas went overwhelmingly read I mean twelve or
thirteen points I think for President Trump counties they've been
voting Democrat for a century, went Republican along the border,
massive Republican wins, and yet people like Dade Field and
(30:07):
Dustin Burrows are trying so hard to find a way
to continue to empower Democrats. Democrats the party that was
soundly rejected in these elections. They're trying to empower Democrats
in the Texas House. It makes no sense, and that's
why you're starting to see a lot of pressure be
put on some of these members that are trying this all.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
Right, So what I found so remarkable about this is
that there's already people talking about primarying these guys. Two
of them are Cole Hefner and Will Metcalf. Now Here
in the Houston area, the Lacey Hall, she's the only
remaining Republican still supporting the Democrat's choice for speakership.
Speaker 5 (30:48):
Yes, of the Harris County members, I believe. Yeah, Representative
Lacy Hole is the only Republican now that's on Burrough's
list of support.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
You have people like.
Speaker 5 (30:55):
Sam Harless and Charles Cunningham and other folks say they
put their support behind David Cook, the Republican choice.
Speaker 2 (31:04):
Okay, So why, I mean, does do we know what
is she getting out of this? Why everybody in her
little circle seems to be going towards the conservative side?
She's not. Do they have dirt on her? Are they
bribing her? I keep asking this question and no, none
of her constituents want her to support Burrows. What's she doing?
Speaker 3 (31:23):
Well?
Speaker 5 (31:23):
I think that you know a lot of the people
that she's been close to in Austin, in the Texas
House are people that are supporting Boroughs, right. I mean,
I don't know, you know who she surrounds herself when
she's in her district, but I can tell you in
Austin she surrounds herself by people like Representative Jared Patterson,
Jeff Leach, Cole Hefter, these people who are supporting Burroughs.
(31:44):
And she's been pretty firmly allied on that team, and
so you know, I wasn't surprised to see her behind Burrows.
I am surprised that now she's the only one. I
think that that's gonna be a lot of pressure on
her to you know, hopefully switch sides into the right thing.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
Okay, so this is I'd say, is this have something
to do with Dave Failin and Ken Paxton? But it's
really hard to say because one local official state representative,
Brisco King, he was one of the people that led
the effort to impeach Ken Paxton, and now he seems
to be supporting David Cook. He seems to be working
with the very people that were defending Paxton. I mean,
it's you know, and I get it. It's nuanced, it's
(32:25):
more complicated than just this is one side, this is
the other side. But you know, there's definitely a shift
back towards the conservative wing of the party. Now what
does it take to get these other people on board.
Speaker 5 (32:36):
Well, I think that there's been a lot of pressure
put on them and was going to continue to be
put on them by you know, starting with the state party,
the Republican Party of Texas, which has said that they
will censure any members who don't support the Republican candidate
for speaker, which could mean this next cycle that they
could be taken off of the primary ballot. That's actually
a new rule that the Republican Party voted in. They'll
(32:58):
be legal challenges to that, of course, you know, they
could potentially be removed from the ballot. That's a lot
of pressure, and I think more constituents people you know,
in these citizens that they're representing. You know, voters who
put Republicans in office don't want to see Democrats in charge,
and so there's an absolute disconnect between the voters and
people like Lacyhol's district and what they're doing when they're
(33:21):
in Austin. And the more people wake up to that
and start pressuring the lawmakers, the more that they can
be pressured to do the right thing.
Speaker 2 (33:29):
Brandon, you're a lot like me. You've got your own
opinions about what you'd like to see happen, but you're
also a journalist and a reporter, and you call balls
and strikes as you see them. Last year for the
Texas Republican Party very different from this year. Last year
we had the impeachment of Ken Paxton. You saw the
George W. Bush Republicans trying to take power, trying to
seize backpower. This year it all went in the exact
(33:50):
opposite direction. The Maga Republicans are clearly calling the show.
I got to think on a statewide level, Ted Cruz
is more popular than John Cornyn. Wesley Hunt is more
popular than Dan Crenshaw. You know, the Dade Fallin. I
can't even believe he got re elected. How is this
guy still have a job when you see where the
party's going right now, and you see who some of
(34:10):
the bigger winners and losers are, specifically in the Republican Party.
I'm not talking about Jean wu w or the Democrats here.
You know, any standouts for you, anybody you'll remember from
the past year.
Speaker 5 (34:21):
Well, I think it's you know, I think the smart members.
That's why you have so many. I mean, he has
sixty some odd Republicans that are standing behind their candidate,
David Cook, somebody who has said they want to reform
the Texas House, they want to end Democrat chairs and ships,
et cetera. You would never have seen those numbers before.
So I think a lot of those members are smart,
have woken up and are able to see it. I
(34:42):
think that people who are either blind to it or
deluded think that they continue can continue. You know, the
uniparty control of Austin that we've seen over the last
several years. I think most Republican members see that that
time is coming to an end. So, you know, I think,
broadly speaking, I think all these members on there that
(35:02):
are supporting David Cook, I think there are all people
to watch. I think that some of them have not
been the most conservative people when they've been in office.
But I think that if people recognize that the time
is up and it's time for a culture change, then
there could be some real standout people this year.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
You know, I'm glad you pointed out out because, look,
you and I both know David Cook is not the
most conservative guy in the Republican parties. You know, is
ideologically Is he more conservative than Dustin Burrows? I don't know,
but I do know that the whole point of trying
to move from the old system to the new system
is important if we're going to get rid of Democrat
(35:37):
people in these committee chairs and give the grassroots what
they want. There's a small group of people out there
that really seem to understand what's going on, and for
some reason, it seems like morons who just vote once
every four years and lobbyists who pump money into the
most corrupt part of our system always seem to get
whatever they want. And that at the end of the day,
that's really what this Burrow's cook thing is about. It's
(35:58):
not even really about Rhino vers Conservative. It's about that.
Speaker 5 (36:01):
I am I missing anything, No, I think I think
you're exactly right there. It's a you know, it's a
total disconnect right between some people in Austin and the
people back home. And I think that this election especially,
I think a lot of people have woken up over
the last two four years and I don't think I
don't think they're gonna be able to get away with
(36:23):
it this time.
