Speaker 1 (00:01):
And Amanda jam Nation. So Friday I took part in
an iconic Australian program and it was such a kick
for me to do something that's been part of my
life for so long.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
I was invited to read a story on play School.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
Did you watch play School when you were a kid?
Everyone watched play School? My kids watched play School. I've
watched play School. It's a rich scene that runs through
every Australian kid's life, isn't it. And I love the
fact that even though we have cgi Star Wars and
kids cartoons and things are so creative now, the basics
of seeing someone build something and putting goggle eyes on
(00:41):
a milk carton will still hold children's attention. They still
crave this stuff. So I got to read a story.
And you know how you think a kid's story is
pretty short? We'll try reading one on television. My voice was.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Raw by the end of it.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
How did you go with your voice?
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Well, it's you have to read it exactly as it
is because they put the book up at the same
time and this is what teaches children to read, so
you can't add lib or when.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
You've read it for the third time. Munch A couple
of You can't.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Scoo, I scuffy the tug bit. You say, well, there
he goes. He's sailing down the river and now he's
out to see good night.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
You can't do what you do with your children at home.
That's quite right.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
There were bits where I could add lib. I had
to wear big dinosaur slippers. The book was Max's Dinosaur Feet,
and I had to tiptoe on the dinosaur feet. I
had to do some acting.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Was this a book that was written by the Peter
Halley or Andy Lee?
Speaker 2 (01:31):
No, it wasn't. They do exist, you know.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
But there's such a thing as a kid's book that
hasn't been written by Andy Lee or Peter Heley.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Imagine. So it was great.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
I got to sit on this on a chair with
wait for it, Big Ted and Scrap the Dog. I
was completely starstruck. When you walk in and you see
these icons and I got to sit next to them.
I got to cuddle Big Ted, amazing.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Has a big Big taed to behold school too. He wouldn'
understand you go, yeah, you're in sho Brendon.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
I'm not going to let you talk like that about
the play School Choice, Harris. No, I'm not letting you
talk about them like that. I'm not joining you on
this dark hands with big stop And then how's this?
I read the story, we did all of that. I
was invited and it's a rare treat apparently to go
to the play school prop room. And I walked in
(02:23):
and all the characters were sitting around at table.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
It was like when you see your teachers in the
staff room.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Out of ours, they weren't smoking. There was Jemima, there
was Humpty, there was the other Teddy. They're all sitting around.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
It is Humpty still the original Humpty from when I
was a kid.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Well, I don't think. I think they probably had to
upgrade the same Humpty. Well, they are all there.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Jemima would have had some work done, should have had
some stuff in.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
A bulldog clip holding together at the back of the head.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
So but when you go in there, I'm not very
good at craft because I'm left handed, but if you're
a craft person, even I, even I my heart was
beating fast.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
It was so exciting.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
But there's tub after tub of all the props, all
the knitted flowers, little bits of wooden food, the little dolls, houses,
all this incredible stuff, and they'd made little towns out
of tissue boxes. You know, it's so incredible and so creative,
and to be in the eye of that fabulous storm
(03:26):
was so I listened to you what oh yeah, this
was aspirational for me, and it just felt incredible to me.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Answer this question, how much Perkins paste did you eat?
Speaker 2 (03:42):
Still looking it off my hand, I stayed there a
little too long.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
See next to you. You'll get a LOGI for that. Well,
I'll tell you. Then we'll both be at the logies again.
We'll be back, baby, I see it.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
It matters more to you than me. But I will
tell you when it's on so you can see my
reading efforts.
