Speaker 1 (00:00):
You angry started what you do that you do that's
a fancy The moldy bacteria invested slab.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Of meat fall off the bart too.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Much tends to give your diarrhea. Time for TikTok taka.
This is where we make food from TikTok. We cook
it and eat it.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Well, today we're making something pretty basic, but it's the
way we're making it. And Brendan, we have some hot
implements in this room, and so you have to be careful.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
That's what they're all saying about you. Okay, there's an
ironing board in here.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
There's an ironing board and two irons that have been
turned on.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
I've got some laundry that you could iron for me.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
That's not what we're doing here. What we are going
to do is a TikTok that Paris Hilton first hit
a couple of years ago, and a lot of people
have done it again recently. We are going to make
a wrap using two irons and an ironing board. The
first thing is, and I'm a bit scared of this bit,
so I need your help. We're going to cook the
bacon using two irons.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
So why will we do this when we're in a
kitchen with all this.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Because it's TikTok Tucker, we replicate what we've seen on TikTok.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
I understand, but is this when Paris is on the run?

Speaker 2 (01:08):
This is what she did. So I'm spraying oil. It's
just to put oil onto the This is what you
have to do. So, Brendan, I've put oil onto the iron.
I want you to put hold that iron up but
on its back like that, and I'm going to put
a piece of bacon on it. Ready or you can

(01:32):
hear it sizzle. And what I I don't want to
touch it. What I do now is I put this
iron on top. You have to trust me to put
this iron straight on top. Be careful. It's like two
space stations docking together. Are you ready? Oh crikey, I hate.
I've got so many burns on my arms from irons,

(01:52):
and geez, how long do we do it? Is it
going to drip on you? Okay, go up right, Come
up right with me, so it doesn't drip on you. Ready, No,
push it. Push your hand up so they're like this
like prayer hands. Prayer hands, Brendan, So it doesn't drip.
Move your freaking wrist.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
Brandon do this?

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Come on, what's wrong with you? No? And doing this?
And then you tilted there? Okay, prayer hands. Okay, now
that's stripping. Now it's dripping onto the ground. That's better,
so it's not dripping on your wrist. So how long
do you think it'll take? Powers How long do you
think it'll take to cook this bacon? Do you think
that'll do this? Or that that'll.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Probably do it? All?

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Right? Now, I'm okay there, Look it's done. So I'm
going to use the tongs. Excuse me, I'm just go
to Okay, how about I just burn my fingers. We
take I'm using tongs, Get out of my way, excuse me. Okay,
I'm going to take these tongues and take the bacon
off the iron. That's not the last time we're using

(02:52):
the iron, by the way, So what I do now
and stand the iron? I back up, please, I back
up for please. I'm going to make a rap. That's it.
So I'm getting out of wrap. We have this beautifully
mas Okay, with this beautifully cooked bacon, I put that
into the center of the rat. Put I put some
grated cheese onto it like this. Would you like some tomato? Sauce.

(03:17):
Let's do it, tomato sauce. There we go. It's just
a shot of tomato sauce. Now I fold the wrap
over so all of that is incased inside the wrap.
The wrap. Now the wrap now comes over to the iron.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Between the two Well, do you want to I'd say
you do that. It makes sense to me.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
All right, So the wrap is going on top of
your iron. I'm going to press that iron against yours
and come back up for prayer. Hands. Brendan, move your hand.
You're doing it deliberately to inflame me with anger. So
this is probably quicker if I just iron it. Do
you think it's happening? All right? So what we're going
to do. We don't add more fluids. You don't want that.

(04:04):
We're trying to grill it. I've got o fairt cause
this thing it's called nine. You should try it sometime.
We don't want more fluids. We're just grilling it. Okay.
Now we're going back and let's yeah, I'm going to
put it back on the ironing board because I think
it's going to be quicker this way. Why I'm going
to iron it now.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Like you can you ee mykess.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
So I'm going to press this down and iron it,
and then when we return, we're going to eat it
and see if it's been the simplest way ever that
any friction between us to cook a wrap, well, i'll
tell you what it Toasty is a relatively straightforward thing
to make, but not the way that we did it.
This is something we've seen on TikTok. It's where you
preheat two irons, you spray them with olive oil, you

(04:49):
cook the bacon by jamming them together. However, it was
dripping on your wrist and I had the top iron,
you had the bottom ine yep. I couldn't get you
to lift it up.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
I thought you were doing feats of strength. You're pushing
down on men.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
I was pushing up there now and I was trying
to get you to move it into the Even if
you don't pray with your hands together, you've seen enough
popular culture to know that little kids put their hands
like that. I don't pray with them on the side,
Dear Baby Jesus in both hands on the side. Anyway,
when the bacon was cooked, I.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
Got out hands Brendan, what are you talking about?

Speaker 2 (05:23):
I then got out a wrap. We have put the bacon,
the cooked bacon in it, put some cheese and some
tomato sauces. Gray folded it over and pressed it and
cooked it with an iron. Obviously, it's the simplest one
in the world to make a toasting. Yeah, let's now.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Cut and question that because a sandwich toasting maker a cama.
It's probably about a third of the price of what.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
It's called TikTok tucker. And we just replicate what we've seen.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
Rag on me now you're cutting up. Are these tortillas
or cassadias?

Speaker 2 (05:52):
I think it's a cassadia. A tortilla is a hard ship.
This is a cassodia.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
Okay, sorry, Please do you.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Want some tomato sauce on yours? Right? Would you like
to moto sauce on yours? Is tomato sauce on the inside.
Thank you. How delightful. Your mother must be so happy.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
There you go, mate, that's for you.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Jonesy, thanks, ma'am and his mind. On account of three,
we all looks good.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
One three, oh yeah, that is fantastic.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
Here's nice. As I said, what's not to like about
a toasty It's an unusual cooking method, but the food
is loving. You probably destroyed two irons in the process.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
I can taste the fabulon. It's very nice, very very nice.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
Very nice. And next time you go to iron your shirts,
you'll enjoy the grease that's all around the collars and
the cuffs.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Mine's under the album.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Fancy. The moldy bacteria invested slab.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Of meat fall off. The results tends to give.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
You, as usual. The video of us enjoying this with
no angst whatsoever will be on our socials today.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Pray hands, Brendan pra Haan Sorry become a meme

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
