Speaker 1 (00:01):
And Amanda jam Nation as a presenter. There are a
few things in Australia I think that are more prestigious
than being asked to go on play School. I want
to say prestigious. I don't mean look at me. What
I mean is for the kid that I was watching
play School to be invited to read a story for
storytime on play School was an incredible thing. And it's

(00:23):
on today at eight fifty this morning. What are you
doing at eight fifty, Brenda.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
I'm leaving here. I'm going to watch the TV here.
Of course you are out straight to the ABC.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
I am reading Max's Dinosaur Feet. Moisturize More was my recommendation,
but it's surprisingly difficult to read a children's story. And
I'm sitting there and all the characters are.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
There, Big Ted, what about Jemima?

Speaker 1 (00:46):
No I saw Jemimah. I was given a rare tour
of the craft room out the back, so I got
to see the cast members relaxing about Humpty Saw, Humpty Saw,
Jemima saw Big Ted just sitting there. It's like seeing
the teachers when you walk past the star Fron They
we were just hanging.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Having to smoke. Did you see blackboard. Harry, Ah, I.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Didn't see black all these There were all these big
tubs that were that's another character, big tubs that were
just were filled with all the bits and pieces. So
there were flowers, there was paper mache, there was things
with which you could create all the sets that they use.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
It was just so great.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
And reading a story is harder than I imagined it
would be. So you have to read the words exactly
as they are because they're also because it's a teaching
tool for kids, so the words are on the screen
as you're reading them, so you can't skip over any
of the words.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
And the old days they didn't.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Have that, you know, And anyway, you can't do it
when you're reading very.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Special Kid's a story. Yeah, when you scoot through. And
then the lorex well they managed to say for it.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
To my shame, I never read them, Doctor Zeus because
I found it irritating, which is terrible.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
You just stick with Harry McClary from.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
And I got a lot of those pop up books
that I loved, and the kids still remember those, yeah,
and they just just reach out their little hands and
rip them apart. And I thought that's reading.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
That'll do. And Scuffy the tug Bit, Remember Scuffy the
tug bit that was good? Or Toodle the train tootle
that you stay on the tracks.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
So many great things for kids, and play school is
one of them. It's a staple of Australian television and
I'm thrilled to be part of it. Eight point fifty
this morning, Max's Dinosaur Feet as read by me.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Will you be just displaying dinosaur fhe I'm.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Wearing a big pair of slippers because the story is
about Max who's got some big dinosaur feet and they're
noisy in this skirt. It'll wake up his little sister,
right okay. And if my loud, shrieking voice reading a
story doesn't wake that sister up, nothing will.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Well. It's appointment TV, please
