(01:11):
Is the Dodgers lose again? Wow? To the Nationals two to nothing,
first time since last July they've beenshut out. O Toaddi hit today.
No one else did the Dodgers areoff tomorrow and then they start a
three game series versus the Mets onFriday. I don't know how to not
be dejected about this. I don't. I don't know. It's it's hard
(01:34):
because a lot of anticipation in theoffseason. Dont offseason parties around here?
Really? Yeah, live press conferences, crazy promos of Japanese media, news
blitz everything that I heard in redI thought they were going one hundred and
sixty two and oh yeah, right, hungry, hungry hippo cash grab for
(01:55):
of Japanese advertisers. I mean it'sbeen a lot. And speaking of that
Ito n o Ocha Japanese green tea. It's the number one in Japan.
Perfect source. Hey Otani had threehits today, Read it and weep.
Perfect source of caffeine to get youthrough the day. Look for the green
(02:16):
can or bottle available at your Diisostores, Amazon and eto n dot com.
That's Eto n it o e Ndot com. We got a lot
of hoops talk with the play instuff and the Warriors finally being big night
for Sacramento. Don I mean that'sthe biggest they've gone since eighteen forty nine.
(02:39):
I mean since eighteen forty nine andthe gold Rush maybe the biggest night
in Sacramento history, Sonter's Mill, the sos fort they what oh the conference
finals? Yeah, okay, wellwho can forget big shot Bob. Yeah
yeah, terrible bounce for the cityof Sacramento. But last night, feeling
(03:02):
pretty good about it, right, feeling pretty good. We've always had great
fans, even when they weren't good. Back when I played, they were
terrible, but those fans came outevery night. Good NBA night life.
Good for them, good NBA nightlifeout there. No no comparable to salt
Lake. Very comparable to salt Lake, which is bottom. Yeah, there
(03:23):
was a Ruth Chris or something rightthere. But I know your least favorite
what Memphis? Yeah? Now whyis that? Don Now why don't you
Is it that Beale Street is justnot what it looks like on TV?
Yeah? The food is good Memphis, all right, Well, the food
is a big deal. The foodto me is half the battle. Yeah,
(03:44):
yeah, you don't want to dispair. I mean, this isn't I
mean, we don't have a lotof Memphis listeners. Penny Hardaway is not
listening. He's not, No,not to my knowledge, I don't mind.
There's not a city in the NBAthat I don't mind. Okay,
some that are better than others. All Right, I don't want you to
get all of you know, I'mnot trying to, you know, put
you on the spot or anything. All Right, It's time for some minor
(04:06):
sports stories and great sports sports storiesor great sports talk. You know.
I don't know if this will resonatewith you, don or not they really
have anything to do with sports. But I was watching the Lakers play in
last night on T and T donand you know, I was just watching
the game. And one of thereasons that sports, and of course you
(04:30):
know this, but one of thereasons that sports a lot of people don't
realize this, that sports has becomeso popular and such a big money entity
in our world is because that peoplewant to watch it live. So that
means the commercials actually get watched asopposed to fast forwarded through or they don't
(04:51):
exist at all because you're streaming. And that means that everybody's instead of making
ten million dollars, is making fiftymillion dollars or instead of making seventy million.
I mean, that's the reason. So we end up watching the commercials.
And I was watching one of thesecommercials and I don't know what it
(05:12):
was for. It was for amedication, right, And of course we
all know what these commercials are, like, we've seen them over the years.
One of those medication commercials for something, some drug, and I didn't
know what the remedy is. Andthen you hear the side effects and it's
horrifying, right, you know, the side effects are literally in every one
of those has terrible yeah, liketwenty side of yeah, just the most
(05:32):
unreal disclaimer. The tone of thevoiceover changes and you know, perhaps you
might you know this and that therewas one that we used to make fun
of where it said, you know, inflamed per neium, We're like,
what's the per neeum? It's yourtaint, Like you take this drug and
your taint catches fire, Like whatthe hell? But this one really jumped
out to me. I didn't knowwhat kind of drug it was, but
(05:56):
it said one of the side effectswas suicidal thoughts. Okay, you know,
not good for you. Some peopleget really depressed on right, And
then it said another one of theside effects was not only suicidal thoughts,
but suicidal behavior and I'm thinking, you know, waiting for the game to
(06:21):
start again, see if Zion's goingto take it to Anthony Davis's chest,
you know, thinking about how youalways talk about how his legs are gonna
go because he jumps so damn high, right, and he's so heavy,
And I'm thinking, what is suicidalbehavior? Actually actually doing it isn't suicidal
behavior? Suicide That's what I wouldassume, right, or attempt at suicide.
(06:46):
I just thought, Wow, okay, a side effect is suicidal behavior.
So will I behave well in asuicidal way? I would ask this
when I'm gonna parasale, like whatam I gonna do? If I'm wanting
that commercial like you were? Ididn't see it and they tell me you're
gonna have suicidal thoughts and suicidal behavior, Who in their right mind is calling
(07:09):
their doctors? Bid, Hey,yeah, I just saw this ad on
TV for the stuff. My sariamasis so bad. I don't care.
My piriasis is such a problem thatI will risk suicidal behavior. So you
take the drug and you run acrossthe Harbor Freeway. You take the drug
and your base jump like what youstick your head in an oven, like
(07:29):
Sylvia Plath like, it's not funny, Dawn, Like what suicidal behavior is
suicide? Suicidal behavior is suicide. It's not a funny topic. But how
you're describing it is. I justI don't understand, like this is done
during an NBA come like I'm watchingan NBA game. Anyway. I had
(07:49):
a hard time watching the commercial andnot wondering all evening. You know what,
ailment could be so bad that you'dbe like, you know what,
here's what I'm to do risk suicidalbehavior. All right, that's a new
one for me. I've heard thesuicidal thoughts, but I haven't heard that
suicidal behavior for one of those drugcommercials yet. It's time to play smash
(08:11):
it or trash it with Don McClainfor the next minor sports story and great
sports sports stories or great sports talksmasher track. Not the Cubs, the
Curly Dubbs. You want to playthe Cubs song? We started playing,
(08:31):
Uh, you know we've done everything, so when uh the Dodgers, all
these teams in the Middle America hadlike these stupid songs like this is the
Cubs song. They play this whenthey win, like on the on the
loudspeaking the yeah like I Love lA. It's played it, which is
(08:52):
a good song written by a realsongwriter. But these songs just blow.
This is the Cubs song. Soyou give this about twenty seconds? All
(09:13):
right, done? All right?I saw a heavy sigh. Well,
the only thing I was thinking wasI'm trying to put myself at Wrigley Field
and the game just ended and thatsong comes on. But I've had seventeen
beers. Yeah. Still, it'slike, why not just play Sweet Home
Chicago and they sing it? Theybelted out if they put a flag up
with the W like we want it, and they'll start singing out this song
(09:37):
sung and you go to stagecoach, you know, Hey, what I'm saying
watching way, Hey, all I'msaying is you know you have a higher
tolerance than me, but you thinkthis song sungs Yes? Okay, next
even after seventeen beers. Okay, then the Dodgers they lost that series,
and then they went and won aseries against the Minnesota Twins. Check out
(09:58):
the Minnesota ti when this is nottheir song? Yeah, oh this is
win Twins. Oh my god,was it seventy six us? It sounds
like an early eighties movie trailer.Oh this is God. This is way
(10:22):
worse than the company. Really,Yeah, we got the guys to knock
the cover off the ball, MinnesotaTwitter. All right, so you're not
your way out. I'm never goingto a Twins game ever, in case
they win. All right. Now, the team that just came to town
and boofed the Dodgers and they weren'tsupposed to and they beat our ass.
And you used to call this townhome when you were a Washington bullet.
(10:46):
Now this is a go go stylewhich you can appreciate from your DC roots.
This is the Washington national song.More of an urban vibe, gone,
let's labor a black American vibe.Takes a while to get going,
(11:13):
still takes a little while. Nearpet Ones out of the stadium is the
man of the curl the w socalmed down, the messing those pod red
(11:37):
red wine. What do you sayto that one? I think I'm out
on all three. Come on,but that might be the best one.
All right, this one's the bestout of the three. Al right,
So smash I still trash trash.Put it this way, smash it.
If I was at the game,I wouldn't be hanging hanging around in my
(11:58):
sheet listen to this, I wouldbe getting to the would you be bobbing
your head? No, I'm walkingup the stairs to this one. Why
did Okay, let's try this nowthis yesterday we had the seventh anniversary of
this song when the Clippers were ina locked in crazy playoff battle with the
(12:18):
Jazz. Doc Rivers was the coach. And there's a special guy. Oh,
I remember this, the ze dogwith Clippers smell like weed. Ze
dog here, you know who itis. Clippers? They so ugly.
(12:41):
Man DeAndre Jordan's shouldn't be an allstar. Fair enough, Clippers also ugly.
They smell like weed. La.This is the worst city ever.
Fair enough. Joe Johnson is theking of the Utah Jazz. Yeah,
(13:03):
Clippers fans are disgusting. They smelllike they smell like Popeye's chicken breats.
Yeah, let's go Jazz playoffs, baby, playoffs, baby, the Clippers.
You will get swept by my Jazz. Clippers the worst team in the
(13:24):
n b A. I don't knowwhy they have to have a coach like
Doc Rivers. Doc Rivers is acry baby. Fair enough. His son,
Austin Rivers, smells like weed. All right, what do you say
to that one. Come on,Don, I'm not even gonna change no,
come on, I'm not even Iwill not make a comment. All
(13:46):
right, kill the ballad. We'renot gonna play the ballad? Then okay,
all right, but but and thencome on, all right, fine,
fine, insulting my intelligence at thispoint. All of that leads to
this very little intelligence. Yesterday, while sitting around here at the station,
Tim Conway Junior approached Tim Kates andtold him about this AI app where you
can just enter a few a fewkeywords and they write you a song in
(14:11):
a certain style and it happens realfast, and it's kind of, you
know, like AI stuff. It'skind of creepy. You know, we're
not really an AI show. Isaw Lawnmore Man, it freaked me out
the eighties, Pierce. But hereis now what happened here? Kate's you
put in the words of Petros andMoney. Yeah, I typed in Petro's,
Matt, I put in Tim Or, I put in Kate, I
(14:33):
put in Ronnie, I put inGreat Sports Dolls. So so far Don
hates all the songs and barely toleratesthe curly Doub song. Okay, yeah,
but what about this one. Thepetros and Money Punk rock Ai song
that Kate's got yesterday and entered intoa computer. Try this one on that
(14:54):
roads back shoot the brace punk lookfine on the wife plays, try stoy
fucking sports the kind again, tohold the fort, Grete sports talk,
(15:16):
hold that flock, that's what it'snot sucking. Yeah, you hors Jesus
die. Yeah he didn't set right. They didn't say we were sucking.
You know what, cakes, tryexploding sky falls ding it, to hold
(15:41):
the falls, that's regularly, trySpry talk his hos daland to hold the
falls. Follow the rules, therule. Why don't you say that we're
sea soccer? Why did it sayuelwe are sea suckers? I did?
(16:03):
Let me put that again? Ohthe clok Rasports song on the clock.
Okay, so it's not sucking.I guess it does say that. Okay,
maybe gret sports talk all the clock, petros Man's okay, forget the
clock. It's not suck. Thatis basically Steve Bush can't beat that.
(16:32):
Come on, we are it's areal pulse smoking show. Is that the
new open for the four o'clock hour? Beak and I like it? Well,
there you go. What about thatone down? I'm out on what
jeez? Tough to please? AllRight, we'll talk basketball next with the
great Don McClain, Petro somebody onM five seventy l A Sports, You're
home of the Dodgers, who area deep disappointment at this point, stormy
(16:55):
weather. The Dodgers have lost fiveof their last seven games, first time
had been shut out since last July. They lose to the Nationals two to
nothing, first time this season they'vebeen shut out. Of course, based
on the stat we just gave.Dodgers are off tomorrow. They need a
rest, and they started a threegame series versus the Mets on Friday.
(17:18):
Don McClain not accustomed to disappointment.Usually when he shot the mid range it
went in. Usually, you know, we're live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app
of Don McClain. Make sure youhit the final button on the app so
you can get the latest nough hires. Also, Beach Live Festival returns to
the sands of Riddondo Beach May thirdthrough May fifth, performances from people like
(17:42):
Sting, Incubus, Steel Pulse,Devo, Dirty Heads, Zz Top Seal.
That was the one that just putsyou over the top. That one
right there puts you over the top. Down. I saw your I saw
your your your your head, wrinkleup, your kissing the rose. Well,
I work beach life, I hostthe stream since it started. Yeah,
(18:06):
only festival I've ever been to.Well come, if you're gonna have
me on, have you on thestream? Like, what do you think
about Incubis? Here? Donnie? Are calabasas you know, pretty pretty seamy
valley of Jason? Yeah, pinsand needles. Nice to know you.
All right, we're going to talkto James Worthy, but the BFF of
the Petrosen Money Show and the truetrough of knowledge that we always drink from
(18:29):
college pro prospect ridden he's doing hiscrazy pre draft workouts right now. Don
McClain is the man that we turnedto, and very interesting time, you
know. I think Matt pointed itout earlier in the week, how weird
it is to have these kind ofMount Rushmore NBA types Lebron James and Steph
(18:51):
Curry playing in the play in andwhile all these younger, kind of more
hot shot guys like Oklahoma State andobviously the Nuggets are just kind of sitting
back and waiting. What was yourimpression of last night kind of an end
of an era for the Warriors. And the Lakers have done nothing but beat
up on the Pelicans all year long, and they did it again. Well,
(19:11):
the Pelicans obviously don't match up withthe Lakers very well. The Lakers
have handled him for a while, and Lebron knows how to play Zion.
Unfortunately, Zion got Zion got hurtat the end of the game last night.
We'll see how long he's out.It doesn't sound like he's going to
play in the next game either. But I was just thinking before that,
and I watched that game last night, that there's no way Lebron's not winning
(19:34):
this game. That was like mypredominant thought, Like, this guy spends
so much time getting himself ready toplay, he plays. You know,
he's forty one years old or whateverhe is, or in his twenty first
year. There's no way he's goingto lose that game. And he found
a way with help from the otherguys, to win that game. But
you know, your consolation is nowyou're playing the Nuggets in a seven game
(19:56):
series. They couldn't beat them lastyear. I think they got swept last
year, didn't they, Right themost competitive sweep in the history though of
the NBA playoffs. Yeah, sowe'll see, but at least you know,
they got it together, won thatgame last night, and we'll see
if maybe the experience of last yearwill help them this year. But are
the Nuggets better than they were lastyear? At this time? They are
(20:18):
better than they were. I thinkthey're not worse, but I don't think
they're better. Are the Lakers better? It's a good question because they're doing
the same thing they were in theseven eight game last year and then got
all the way to the Conference finals. Because I see that happening again,
I could, but their second theirfirst round opponent wasn't the Nuggets. Last
year, they lost the Nuggets inthe Conference finals. So we'll see.
(20:41):
The Nuggets obviously are motivated, butit's hard to repeat, you know,
when you want it last year tocome to do all the things necessary to
win it again. But they havethat guy in the middle that's just a
major problem to deal with in Jokich, Like you, there's no way to
play him. You can say,all right, we'll double him, but
he's such a good pass where hejust picks your part and if you if
you play him straight up, he'sgoing to get forty. So we'll see
(21:03):
what their defensive game plan is.But it's going to be a challenge for
the Lakers to get to get pastthe Nuggets. You know, nobody's ever
trying to climb over the Rocky Mountainsfrom the West coast or go over the
Great Plains from the East coast.Media wise, with their shammis to wash
the balls of the Denver Nuggets.I mean, you know they there.
It's going to happen begrudgingly for myriadreasons, I suppose, as we've seen
(21:29):
play out in the media over theyears. But well, one big,
one big reason is just geographically. You know, Denver is not a I
mean, it's not the NFL kindof thing, transcends that, but Denver's
not a place where people are justtripping over themselves to compliment this team for
one reason or another. For instance, we've never seen the Celtics win an
NBA title in this era of whatthey're doing with the guy from Butler,
(21:52):
and we talk about all their competitiveedge or Celtics having all the Celtic attitude
and their culture, Oh they haven't. You know, they're not even close
to what the Nuggets have done.Do they have the Nuggets some kind of
competitive edge, a championship grit,a flavor of like those Bulls teams or
the Laker teams or the Spurs ofthe past teams that we've watched get there
(22:18):
every year and play like that.I think they they have. What they
have is a deep roster, notas deep as it was last year.
That's why I say they're not better. Their bench last year was better than
it is this year. But toyour point about the Nuggets kind of flying
under the radar a little bit,I think part of it is, yes,
geographically Denver. Denver hasn't had along history of basketball success. They've
(22:41):
been okay for a while. ButI also think Jokics being a European has
something to do with it too.I think that people he's not relatable because
he's not an American and he's sounique as a player. There's not kids
plopping themselves down in front of theTV to watch yo kids. They're they're
plopping down in front of the TVto watch Steph Curry or fascinating to for
us, but not for twelve yearolds. Not not a basketball but not
(23:03):
for twelve year olds. You know, it's like they want to shoot threes,
Yeah, shoot threes, or ifit's like a freak athlete like Anthony
Edwards and these guys, and soI just think that they've become this workmanlike
team. But but to your otherpoint about the edge, I think Mike
Malone gives them an edge, likehe's an edgy dude. He's like,
he's no bs, and so Ithink his personality rubs off on that team
(23:27):
to give him, to give himan edge. But the roster construction of
that team has been perfect, likethey've put the perfect complimentary guys around Jokic
and Jamal Murray's one of those guysthat can explode at any time, and
when they've needed him, he's beenable to do it. You think the
Lakers will get swept again competitively,I don't. I don't think. And
(23:49):
again this goes back to human nature. And I talk about this a lot
like human nature. When you wonit last year, you are not as
motivated. I don't care what yousay you are not because human nature,
you are not as motivated as youwere the year before. And so if
you're not as motivated, I don'tthink you can be as dominant as the
Nuggets war last year. So Idon't think the Lakers get swept, but
(24:11):
I also don't think the Lakers winthe series either. And it's crazy.
Don you work with the Clippers. You watch them game in and game out,
you know, every year, andyou've known the anticipation and the hope
and the expectation, and we feltthe disappointment a year in and year out.
With some good moments, I mean, they finally made it to a
conference final recently, but Kawhi Leonardis shrouded in mystery again going into this
(24:37):
matchup with the Mavericks. They havekind of what they want, They're where
they need to be. What doyou think is going to happen? What
kind of vibe are you getting?Going back to what I said on this
show a few months ago, I'venever been more optimistic about the Clippers getting
to a finals than I have beenthis year. But it is predicated on
Kawhi playing, obviously, and sowe don't know what the deal is.
(25:00):
We all kind of assumed he wasjust kind of resting at the end and
kind of maintenance getting ready for theplayoffs, but we don't know, and
so hopefully this whole week off.He has another week off will get him
right so that he can play inthis series, because if he does,
I go back to what I sawfrom December to February, which they were
dominant for a long time, andthey hit a lull for about twenty games,
(25:22):
and then they got it back whenWestbrook came back from his injury,
and that was without Kawhi. SoI think it's there this year. I
really do. It's just a matterof Kawhi being one hundred percent, and
if he is, I'm still thatoptimistic as I was in December and January.
Do you think there's a chance thathe's not going to play. It's
such a weird thing, so everybodyelse, you know, it's just like
(25:45):
I don't want Is this guy injuryprone? Is he a guy that I
knew, guys that would not docertain things if they felt a certain way
and they just you couldn't make them. You know, I don't know.
I don't know either. I youknow, I don't know. It's not
fair for me to speculate on that, all right, I would say this,
I'm hopeful. Obviously we all are, all the Clipper fans hope that
(26:07):
he does play because not only youknow, do we want to see the
Clippers do well, but I wantto see a good series with Dallas.
I mean this, if both teamsare right, this is going to be
a fascinating series. It really is. What about Paul George and his opt
out was talked about today in NationalRadio. Don he can leave Lebron,
(26:29):
goes to the Warriors. Everybody goesto the Warriors. They restructure because last
night Sacramento stuck a spear in theirneck, kind of how we've been talking
about the transfer portal Peek. Iwouldn't be surprised if anything happens in the
NBA these days either, same thing. You know, he obviously kept his
option for a reason to see whathappens at the end of the year,
and what happens. I say this, that doesn't change because I know Paul
(26:53):
for a long time. That doesn'tchange his mindset for now. Whatever his
contract says isn't gonna change his mindset, not only for this series, but
the rest of this postseason. Movingforward, It'll be interesting to see what
the Clippers can do against Dallas. They've had success against them in the past,
but Dallas a very dangerous opponent. They've gotten better. Kyrie and Dancis
(27:15):
had a full season together. They'rea scary, scary proposition when talking about
planning your defense. But then atthe trade deadline, they got better.
Daniel Gafford helps them. PJ.Washington helps them. They figured they put
a couple pieces around those two tomake them better offensively, but more so
p defensively. That's been the thingwith Dallas why they've never gone far in
(27:37):
the playoffs. They just weren't gooddefensively. They're still not great defensively,
but they've improved a lot defensively. You think the Clippers will take a step
defensively in the playoffs, like aswitch so to speak, can be fletched.
But again, it all depends onKawhi, because we saw this year
when Kawhi was right, he remindedeven me and I've been watching this league
for a million years in Kawhi justhow good he is on both ends when
(28:02):
he is right, like defensively andoffensively. Strong basketball analysis from the one
and only Don McClain. What cacan I ask you a question? Don
you hit on something like two minutesago? Geez and Paul George maybe opting
out of his contract because he's gotthe option at the end of the year.
Lebron started a few years ago withthese short contracts, these one plus
ones, these two plus ones.Yep, could you see an NBA moving
(28:26):
forward where guys just signed these monsterone year deals and like you said,
and all of a sudden, wegot free agency like the portal in college
basketball, and guys every year couldjust hold team hostage and say, well,
I may go somewhere else, Imay not like it here. I'm
okay, I'll come back for onemore year and it's just one year contract.
That's why I said that, Tim, That's why the NBA is becoming
a lot like that. To ask, that's exactly what I meant, in
(28:48):
the sense that it used to beplayers back way back when I played,
and I think for a few yearsafter I played, everybody wanted security,
like everybody to guard against injury.Everybody wanted a five year deal or a
six year deal because oh, incase you get hurt, you still get
the money. Well, that's goneout the window now that they want the
(29:10):
flexibility of being able to move becauseeveryone wants to win, and it's become
easier and in the ownership of allthese teams has allowed them to sign shorter
term deals. They I'm sure teamswould rather lock up superstar players for longer
than a year or two. Butthat's kind of just the way the game's
being played right now, and sothere is a lot more movement among players
in the league. That's why peoplelove the NBA so much. Right one
(29:33):
year deals for a lot of money, and these guys are sitting out twenty
six Jesus case, you know,Don makes his living. Don makes his
living in that league. Sunday, the NBA playoffs start for the Clippers as
they host the Mavericks. Twelve thirtytip on AM eleven fifty. Will be
right back with a secret text.So so Rodeo round up right here on
the Petrosen Money Show on AM FIseventy LA Sports. Don McClain sitting in
(29:56):
today chopping it up. Still anotherhour and a half of great sports talk.
It's Papa, everybody, welcome backthe petro Said Money Show. Happy
to be with you on this.We just won't be defeated Wednesday on this
What am I going to do withthis guy? Wednesday? Did the Warriors
win last night? No? Butthe Lakers did and we will talk to
(30:21):
James Worthy in our final hour withthe great Don McLain. We just had
a fabulous basketball conversation with Don McClain. And no one knows what's going to
happen to anybody after these playoffs areover. Aside from the forlorn rags of
growing old, where will lebron go? Where will Paul George go? Where
will Brony go? No one knows. Dust in the wind. All we
(30:45):
are is dust in the wind. We're also your home of Shoeltani and the
Dodgers still in first place despite theincoming that David Vasse took on the postgame
Dodger Talk today. Kates, doyou take incoming like that? I mean,
you don't take the slings and airsof outrageous fortune like that? Do
you not on a daily basis likeDave does? Because he does Dodger Talk
(31:07):
too. That happens, oh man, when you have expectations that are that
high and you get off to aslow start, This is what happens.
That's true. I got some textososfor you that echo those very same sentiments.
Secret Texes Fine, brought to youby your so called Toyota dealers.
We make it easy. Panic, brothers. The Dodgers have only won one
(31:29):
series this season. Don't panic.Sho hey, Inosente Otani got three hits
today. We are good. Look, everybody wanted to see the Dodgers come
out and light the world on firein Los Angeles. As Dodger fans,
everybody else is going to have shotenfreudeand want the Dodgers to fail because of
(31:51):
the way they spent and all thedeferred money and stuff like that. In
the off season. You know, usually we panic on this show about the
regular season. Eric Carroll's call andtells us to shut up. Vass tells
us that it's a long season.People try to have some crazy thing called
perspective. But when you're on theair for hours a day, don you
know, it's easy to become aprisoner of the moment. But I would
(32:14):
say this, and Tim, I'dlike to hear your thoughts on this,
Like, Okay, they weren't goingto be what are they fourteen and nine,
twenty twelve and twelve and nine,So I don't think anybody thought they
were going to be twenty one tono. But twelve and nine is way
behind schedule, is it not?It is well, keep in mind last
year they were under five hundred atthe same point, oh they were.
This season they were nine to tenand then they just rattled off a bunch
(32:36):
of games. Yeah, okay, and they lost again in the playoffs.
But you look at this team sofar through what you know, twenty games.
Let's say, the pitching has beenup and down the bullpen, everybody's
hurt. They got a bunch ofyoung dudes. They're shuttling back and forth
on a plane from Oklahoma City. It's a downtown LA. And then the
offense one through four is really good, the best in baseball. But five
through nine, I mean Chris Taylor, Kik Austin Barnes every couple of days,
(33:00):
it's not very good. This iswhat I wanted to know, Like,
is this like, yeah, sothey were under five hundred last year
at this point basically, yeah,so why but they didn't have Otani?
They were gearing up to get Otani. This saysp Is it just me or
did the Dodgers kind of suck?Otani brought the Angels curse to the azul
(33:22):
It's a listless team. It ishard to watch them shut out like that
and not have the fire to comeback down the stretch. And it felt
like they went very quietly today. And I guess that's just part of the
baseball season. I don't want tosay anything else. This text says this
Don. The secret text doesn't afine brought to you by your sokel Toyota
(33:44):
dealers. We make it easy. Can we get a chet Brikette today or
what? No? No, nottoday? But there hasn't been a lot
of chet briketting going on in thelast seven or eight months. The Don
McClain chet Brikette segment where McClain aschet Brickette takes calls and gives barbecuing advice,
(34:05):
is quite popular, and it hasits own song, and we're gonna
do some musical stuff. I feellike it's a little bit early for chet
Brikette. That's usually a summertime segment. All right, well, let's spring,
you know. I mean, you'renot here tomorrow. Now, you're
back on Friday. But I'm alwayshere during the summer. But I don't
okay, all right, all right, let's keep the people waiting. All
(34:28):
right. If that's so, you'resaying, no chet Briquet tomorrow, because
I need to get warmed back up. I hate to admit this, but
I think the last time I actuallygot out there on the barbecue was at
least two months ago. Wow,been busy. So you're like a cyclist
who has like the bike is collectingdust. Yes, yeah, I got
to get out there and clean itoff. Yes, Tim, stupid question,
(34:51):
but don what do you do forpop praye? Do you have a
service that comes to your house? Are you the kind of guy that closes
and kidd at yourself? We havenatural gas? Oh my bad? What's
the difference. You don't have togo get propane? Oh? Okay?
Cool? But you know there arethose barbecue types that they're like, they're
real briquette guys, and they sayif you use nat down, look,
(35:12):
that's way better. But at thispoint I don't. I just don't have
time for that, to get afire started, get the charcoald all that.
Well, let's just turn on thegas and go all right, But
when you like are like, no, it's the term we're cooking with gas.
Okay, fair enough. Did youhear about the Victor Brick headphone test
yesterday? You know, I heardyou guys talking about it, but I
(35:34):
didn't hear the initials, so Ididn't really know what it was about.
This said, the VIC test didn'tdisappoint. I'm glad you guys figured something
out. I'm really happy for you, Petros, So what happened? I
think we solved the problem? Right, Kate's like, did we solve it?
Like? It's over right? Isolved it yesterday. But are they
sending him new headphones? Though?Come on, petrol? Yesterday I was
(35:57):
told that they called the headphones areon the way, no wels are turning.
Matt said he'd buy him, andMatt's now on a vacation. So
I don't think Matt put an orderand Matt money Smith, that is,
I don't think he put an orderin. So you spent the day at
Dodger Stadium with the engineers and everythingthat for three innings watching them fall apart
it did anybody say anything about it, like, hey, we're gonna get
(36:17):
Victim new headphones? Like we can'twait to fix this problem. I had
three of the engineers sitting right there, and not a one of them said
like, hey, great stuff withVIC. You're right, we'll get him
new headphones. None of them saida word. So we do have almost
how must your headphones. I meanthe ones he's got are like fifteen bucks.
They're terrible. We're trying to getthe ones that are actually good.
(36:37):
We tried to figure out what goodpair of headphones cost, I mean seventy
five bucks. I'll chip in.See everybody says that, and then nothing
happened. Matt was supposed to buyhim on Amazon. This has been a
four year like your kids have goneall the way through high school while we've
been dealing with this problem. Apandemic came and went. Don Martin said
(36:59):
he was gonna take care of it. When somebody tried to start to gofund
me, nothing ever happened. Nowwe've contacted the engineering department. Everybody said,
I was reassured. And if wecome back on tomorrow for a four
hour show with Jonas Knox and wepull the tarpaff ic the brick for a
crunchy groop Thursday and start trying totalk to him at three o'clock and the
(37:20):
echoes back and he's mule liking, stubborn, like Ronnie says, turning up
his volume. I might not survivethat. I'm just letting you know that
won't happen Petros. I will notlet that happen to you or the show
to the mark. You know,I know that I'm getting I know I'm
getting older and crank ear. Iknow that my anxiety is getting worse.
Sucks. You guys don't have internsanymore. You just send one down to
(37:42):
Best Buy real quick. Those werethe days, my friend, we thought
they'd never end, and yet theyhave done. So I know. Here's
another text, Dodger suck. I'drather hear one full hour of nailed by
the kid ball washing that a segmentof Dodger Talk today. Pee. Well,
(38:04):
there was an elongated Dodger Talk aswe discussed because David Vasse was suffering
like fighting like a like a StarWars type lightsaber battle, fighting off angry
Dodger fans, angry Dodger callers, people that are disappointed, and it sounds
like you're in their camped on.Sounds like you you can't believe twelve and
nine and it's not acceptable to you. Well, now that Tim gave me
(38:27):
some perspective, I'm not mad aboutit. I just think, you know,
based on the expectation of what wastalked about before the season started,
I think everyone thought that they'd bea little better than twelve and nine.
At this point I got this alltext that says, Wow, Dave lost
his s today. What a littlebaby. I used to support the little
guy, but today was too mucha guy. Does Dave have to do
(38:54):
Dodger talk to Amrown night too?Bingo, oh no, We'll be right
back with more petros and money allanother hour of great sports talk, quick
hits, James Worthy, Dead andAlive Guy, Birthday of the Day.
We had our musical segment. Inthe first segment, we talked some hoops
with Dawn. We've been very productive
