Sports tab of the iHeartRadio App.I Got Dodger Baseball tomorrow live from the
gallupin Motors Broadcast. The Braves arein town. Freddy Freeman's gonna cry like
a baby. He is. He'sgonna cry. He's going to engage,
He's gonna embrace Dodgers Braves. Broughtto you by Puffs. It is tomorrow

(01:30):
tonight, Kate's off day, Dodger. He is excited. PM. Nobody's
been more geeked for the Galla thanKate's. He's gonna host the crap out
of the show tonight and he's notsad sacked walking around like droopy dogg at
all. There's a few things thatgot Kate's down. I thought we normally
did the Dodger talk from the Galain years past, felt like that was

(01:53):
always part of it, and therunning gag was the players would give David
Bassey the business. Yeah, hewould go and do. But I think
Vassay one year you would go tothe Galla to do the show. This
year, Vassay is just going fullelitist. He's gonna walk the carpet,
He's gonna be with his wife.Check out some of his stuff on social

(02:14):
media A five seven the LA SportsInstagram, Facebook, He'll post some stuff
Twitter. Are you gonna check inwith Vassay? I mean, I think
what happened is this? And maybeI'm telling tales out of school, but
yesterday was lovely Leslie Kates's birthday. She's twenty seven and Tim Kates kids when
they were I know, I know, but it was a different in burd

(02:34):
Bank match up. It's like littleHouse in the prairie up there in that
hills. It was the nineties.Come on, it's different times. So
Tim Kates, uh, yesterday thoughthe was going to be with his wife
and instead he got slapped in theface with Dodger talk. I should have
known it was a getaway. Youshould have known. You didn't know that
Vassay was gonna go out to Arizonato meet the team like Joe Davis was.

(02:55):
So Vassay did not work last night. So and now he got galloned
today and Matt just like the hitsof Tommy James with the chandelle. It's
a combination of the face and now. And his seeds have not arrived,
you know, his seed order isstill Yeah, he's seedless, ranky all

(03:15):
day smack and said they were gonnasend some seeds to the show. Have
not arrived yet. So you, being the cheap skate that you are,
opted not to re up your seedorder just in case there were some freebies
come. I don't think you canget the Forgive me for not knowing,
because we've been discussing it at length, sure, but it seems to me.

(03:36):
It seems to me that you're unableto procure the gourmet seeds that Kate's
requires for his palette at the normalseed store or just you know, at
the liquor store. Right, AmI wrong to say? I don't think
you'll touch the davids, but youcan get big. You can get the
big seeds around, can you?I don't know, just you and I
mean maybe listen, what the helldo I know? But maybe Kate's palette

(03:59):
is can considerably more refined than theDodger players seed palette because they are you
above it? Are you above thebigs? Are you above the seeds available
over the over the counter seeds?Seeds? I'm just not into like regular
flavored seeds, like just seeds likeI have some smacking og originals right here.
That's not good enough. No flavoredto them me, no flavor,

(04:20):
they're salted. Just this is notenough. I'm used as cinnamon chiros.
You need that good seed, Oh, that's so good, garlic parm come
on, backyard bar. So theanswer is yes, the over the counter
seeds are not enough for cats.He needs the exotic flavor, much like
the pineapple red bull when it cameout and he drank it so much it

(04:41):
blew its gall bladder. This istrue. Into the gun, literally,
they threw his gallbladder into the gunor outside of Saint Joe's right on the
corner here. It's floating in theocean somewhere, same sewer as fix freaking
teeth explore the ocean. It's allthere, all right, it is not
time. As the show continues, and don't forget the Clippers could be eliminated

(05:05):
tomorrow. The Lakers are done. We're gonna talk to Jovann Booja in the
very next segment from the Athletico todiscuss it. Perhaps some Lebron James propaganda
Matt from booh what. But nowit's time for three things theirs. Why
don't you censor me, Matt,I'm within my riot. Three boomsters,

(05:30):
suture three things are in your threethings? Is you know we got here
on three things? Thursday Bing BangBoom Monday Lakers Wednesday Kings Friday Clippers.
That is the state of sports inthe city of Los Angeles. Are you
saying, elimination nation of losers, elimination nations, elimination nation. But that

(05:54):
hasn't happened to the Clippers yet.Oh it will, Fat James Harden,
lazy Paul George. I can promiseyou it will if only they had the
intestinal intesticular fortitude of Aviza, Zubotsand Megalx and what it bred in him
as a competitor, instead of fatJames Harden being fat all over the court

(06:15):
and freaking lazy ass Paul George juststanding on the wing going, oh,
not being involved in any play atall. One alley oop after another,
balls on your face, poots inyour face. Let's just let it run
as a layup line. How didwe become her defendant? Like we have

(06:39):
become the city of playoff failure? That is what Los Angeles is. You
are well the city of COVID winners, exactly than our children, who were
all stunted by COVID and lockoctly right, we were stunted by COVID. But
we're COVID winners. We are. That's all we did. We won during
COVID stash Gavin Newsom Koma's hair intel. Other than that, were chokers.

(07:00):
That's it, chokers and smokers andjokers. In the last twelve years,
my joker, smoker, the Lakershave either missed the playoffs or lost in
the first round ten times. Inthe last twelve years, they won the
COVID title because we are the COVIDHome of Champion, the home of COVID
Champions. In the last eight years, and again the Clippers will lose tomorrow

(07:26):
in Dallas and get bounced from thepostseason. In the last eight years,
the Clippers have either missed the playoffsor been bounced in the first round half
the time. And this will bethree years straight, three consecutive years they
will have either missed the playoffs orbeen bounced in the first round. And

(07:47):
last night, as I'm flipping aroundtrying to find some sort of Los Angeles
sporting salvation, because the Dodgers arealready up six to nothing, and as
much as I like watching that Yamamotoand that pie has pound the ball,
as much as I'm enjoying it,eh, game's out of bound six nothing.
Now it's eight nothing. And nowI'm trying to find some sort of

(08:09):
relevant competition. So I flip overthe Kings Edmonton Oilers game. There.
It is since twenty fourteen when theKings won their second Stanley Cup in three
years, And what a glorious timeit was. Was that the last time
they won a series? Yes,wow, the Kings in ten years have
either missed the playoffs entire somebody saidthat to me last night and it blew

(08:31):
my mind five times, or they'vebeen eliminated in the first round five times.
And they can't blame Alex Faust anymore. They cannot, but they'll try.
They have not won a playoff seriesin a decade. I didn't know
the Kings were eliminated until I gota text from him this morning. So
the Kings when they finished second, booted in the first round, when they

(08:54):
finished third, booted, when theyfinished fourth booted, bounced this year five
games, last year, six games, the year before, seven games,
projection twenty twenty five, a sweepeach time to freaking Edmonton. I remember

(09:15):
when somebody decided to come at meon Twitter for something we said in this
space. You don't know hockey ifyou think the Kings are a bad matchup
for Edmonton. You may or maynot be referring to the Petrosen money listener
Union guys, It's exactly right. They are a bad matchup for Edmonton.
Union boy. Did you hear Mattget after Union Boy? And they were

(09:37):
humiliated again. A team that wontwo Stanley Cups in three years, still
has donut, still has Kolpi, and they can't win a goddamn playoff series.
Last year, the Clips lost tothe Suns in five. This year
they'll lose to the MAVs in six. And if you go back to twenty
sixteen, you got three more firstround exits, all of which they finished

(09:58):
second in their division to the warand still got routed six games to the
Warriors, Jazz, and Blazers. And for those of you that think we're
keeping our hands clean, we're notgoing to stick our nose in it.
You know about the dominant Dodgers runsince twenty thirteen, Speaking of COVID champions,

(10:20):
they have won the division eleven oftwelve seasons, Yes, man,
eleven of twelve. They have wontheir division an incredible run five one hundred
win seasons, and in those twelve, five times they've been bounced in the
NLDS one and done the first round. A city of losers, and we

(10:43):
have memories from all of them. There's the one that we upset the advertising
guy. There was that we There'sthe one was the Padres year. There's
the one with Don Martin hunched, the Washington Nationals year, the hunched sports
art of Don Martin huts down. There was the Joe Kelly destroys, Hanley
Ramirez his body to the Cardinals. That was old school. That was old

(11:05):
school first round. Uh huh.So that's three Arizona. Obviously last year
we didn't get in trouble. No, but but a lot there's a lot
of listener bitterness and I don't wantto bring it up. I don't want
to bring it up. But thelistener bitterness comes from last August when there
was a message on this show thatsaid like, hey, just enjoy the
games. Are doing great, enjoythe games. But you're right, man,

(11:30):
it comes to the postseason. Iguess, yeah, you gotta have
somebody. How have we become thecity of playoff failure? It's not just
the Dodgers. That's the thing.Everybody we talked to about the Dodgers,
you know, the baseball playoffs areweird. It's the five game series,
it's the thirty minute interview with allkinds of explanations. The Lakers suck,

(11:52):
the Clippers suck, and the freakingKing suck. And the Clippers are still
alive. No, they're not.Not. With fat James Harden looking like
fat seven points on two of fourteenshooting fat James Harden last night, there's
still a lot. There's playoff P. There nothing to have a pulse.

(12:13):
As much as I love the Gavelstonconversation on TNT, nothing is better when
someone mentions the phrase playoff P.You see Charles and Shago playoff P.
What they could change? Friday oneleven fifty, Stay tuned. Is our
lifestyle too good? Gear? Isthe weather too great? Do these players

(12:37):
living in the South Bay or Pasadena? Do they have it Calabasas? No,
our lifestyle is have it too good? No? Look at look at
the happiness level and all the ratingsof this city. Everything has gone down.
Everybody is miserable. The cost ofliving is too high. It costs
three million dollars for a house inlike Guardina. It's it's not it's not

(12:58):
great with failing in the playoff. Why don't we have a competitive bae in
our sports franchise? You away body, because Mayor Bass doesn't understand that the
playing tournament didn't need nothing. Congratulationson the play in tournament victory. Now,
the Rams have been the best. They've been the only team that has
been okay for us. And youknow that parade really puffed the pride of

(13:18):
the city. Something that parade. It was difficating, kind of like the
hot air balloon running into some wires, like hey, take off. The
Rams have at least won a playoffgame in three of their five postseason appearances
since McVeigh has been the coach. They went to two and won won Super
Bowl. At least they win aplayoff game. The Chargers won a playoff

(13:41):
game in twenty eighteen, but inDAN twenty twenty two out of twenty eight
to nothing lead and still figured outhow to how not to advance in the
postseason. If the Clippers, Ishouldn't even say that. When the Clippers
do what I know they're gonna doon Friday, we got a Monday Wednesday

(14:05):
Friday elimination see UH one two threecan Coon Lakers, Monday Kings Wednesday Clippers
Friday, all from the same city, all in the first round, one
of them with home court advantage, and dumb ass Kawhi sitting his dumb ass,
vacant gaze on the bench again.Just retire already, my god,

(14:31):
Steve Balmer, I, that's great. You've got forty four billion dollars in
probably more now because Microsoft's been ona bit of a run, so maybe
you got like fifty four billion dollars. And it's not that big of a
deal to you to hand that guyone hundred and fifty million bucks. But
the pain it causes the sporting fanto see him sitting there with that dumb

(14:52):
ass look on his face, havingmissed the postseason for the third consecutive.
Think about it. You've been veryinsulting in these low yes I have.
You've called James Harden fat, heyfat, you said the kaw has got
a dumb look on his face, and you've called out the integrity and the
pernacity of playoff p It's disappointing,it's upsetting, it's infuriating on three things.

(15:16):
Thursday, it's all of those thingsthat somehow we are the city of
playoff failure for every franchise, everyonewe got people explaining away the Lakers with
the competitive sweep and the why doyou not get your time out when you

(15:37):
challenge a call in the final twominutes? I would have changed everything.
In the case of the Clippers, well, if Kawhi' is not out there,
we just don't know what this teamcould possibly be. Who knows.
This would have been one of thefavorites. How Kawhi's need just happened to
betray him. He would have finishedtop three MVP voting had he not gotten
hurt, but he has. TheDodgers are currently on pace to win ninety

(16:03):
nine games. They have the bestrun differential in baseball matt and it is
remarkable that they are doing it witha nine to eight home record. They
still have that win percentage while barelybeen above five hundred home road sweeps.
Helped out a couple of roads sweepsthere, and you hope it will start
to correct itself tomorrow with the Bravesin time. I guess, I hope.

(16:23):
I don't know. I have ableak outlook feels like we can only
win when our kids are losing andthey're locked down. What a pickle we're
in. I see it more asa rundown, but yeah, or a
hot box. The Rams they gotbetter in the draft. Maybe they can
save the day. The Chargers theygot Jim Harbaugh. He's a winner,
he wins games. And maybe thisis the year the Dodgers finally turn things

(16:45):
around, because my god, havewe been put through the ringer wow this
week as a sporting city. Pertinentpontification on our shortcomings as a community.
Matt, thank you, You're welcome, and we'll be back with Yovann Booja.

(17:06):
He likes Lebron. I guarantee cutyou some money. AM five to
seventy, LA Sports Relive everywhere onthe iHeartRadio app. No Dodger game tonight.
Tim Kates will have off Day DodgerTalk at seven pm because of the
Gala. Dodgers Braves tomorrow, ClippersMAVs tomorrow as well. That'll be on

(17:26):
AM eleven fifty. And it's timefor a basketball conversation. Pe. Yeah,
it is Matt, and I'm readyto have it, are you?
Yeah? I'm ready? Are youready to chop it up with one of
the choppers, cause this guy's beenchopping it up all year Spectrum Sports Net
like a Chuck salad Athletic. He'sgot the chopper and the cutlass and he's

(17:51):
ready to talk. It is YovannBooja. He's got you all in check.
He's got the Boo hob podcast. It's called Boohoo. The Lakers lost
again with Boo but he's on spectrum. He works for the Athletic. Wonderful
guy and here to discuss it allon the Southern California Toyota Dealer Celebrity Hotline.

(18:17):
Is a great young NBA reporter,Jovann Booja on the Petrosen Money Show.
What's cracking Booja? How are you? I'm doing well? Thanks us
for having me, booh Are youstill tired for having to do those exit
interviews after the game? Did thatcatch you guys off guard? Like the
hot dogs to the face? Howdid that feel? Boo ha? It

(18:37):
did? I had two flights outof Denver, one at six am,
one at one pm, and Iwas anticipating that had they lost, I
would have been on that six amflight to make it back for exit interviews.
But I guess, fortunately and unfortunately, I ended up having to cancel
that one and I got to flyout at one so I got to sleep
in a little bit. You endedup posting a quite the lengthy article that

(19:02):
morning about what this will look likethis offseason for the Lakers, And I
don't know if it's the popular positionor if I'm kind of on an island
here. I was surprised that itsounds, you know, according to kind
of what you guys were reporting, that the Lakers are ready to just kind
of give Lebron whatever he's going towant in order to keep him here.
Is that still kind of the feeling, And aren't you surprised that that is

(19:23):
kind of how they're going to approachthis offseason. Yes, that is the
feeling. That is the latest sensethat I have gotten from speaking to people
around the organization. And I'm notreally surprised because the Lakers have always prided
themselves on being a star first franchiseand taking care of their stars, and

(19:45):
they have a long history of that. And Lebron James, in my opinion,
like he had a really strong closeto the end of the season.
I thought he was better after theAll Star break, and you know,
obviously see the results, like theLakers had the fit best record in the
league after February first, the fourthbest in the West, and it was

(20:07):
just a matter of you know,a couple of games there and then got
a game off Denver. It wasa pretty close series. Yet again,
obviously for the Lakers it's there's nomoral victories and it's it's championship for bus.
But I don't think, you know, they can really put that on
Lebron. And as we reported,we had a high ranking source say,
like, Lebron is not the problem. And obviously they've identified where they think

(20:33):
some of the problems are and thenow path forward is addressing that and trying
to make this team stronger for nextseason. When you, like, you've
seen a lot of basketball blue High, you've seen multiple teams. I think
the one concern that I would haveabout handing over a three year contract does
it did seem like his legs kindof betrayed him in the late stages that
that defense became optional in the latestages of games, particularly playoff games.

(20:56):
And like you said, he wasgreat offensive. He was great in some
clutch moments, not as great inothers. But that would be my primary
concern is are we signing up forthree years of continued decline? Most you
know, I guess most glaringly andparticularly in the postseason. Did you see
that or is that me looking atit maybe through a negative lens. No,

(21:18):
that is totally fair, And Ithink at times this season defense was
optional for Lebron. And on theone hand, I think you're partly grading
him on a curve in terms ofyear twenty one, most minutes in NBA
history, and you know, agethirty nine, like part of that I

(21:38):
think factors into it where I don'tthink we should be expecting the defensive level
from Lebron at when he was twentyfive or thirty or even thirty five.
At the same time, if he'sgetting paid like a max player and the
expectation is him performing at a topten level and him performing at a level
that the Lakers win a championship at, then I think that is a concern

(22:00):
that obviously factors into that as well. So I kind of see it from
both sides. But I do thinkat times in the Denver series he was
a liability. I also think hehad some impressive stretches of defense as well,
But I also think in kind ofknowing that, then you need to
put the right pieces around him,and I think that's where the Lakers kind

(22:21):
of looking forward in terms of howthey built out this roster for next season.
If Lebron ends up staying, thenI think you need better defensive players
around him. I think you needmore size and length and athleticism. And
I think that is one of thecredible criticisms of this roster was just that
they were a bit small. Theywere a bit lacking in terms of perimeter

(22:42):
defense and athleticism and defensive rebounding. And that was one of the swing factors
in the Denver series, which isDenver was able to continually get offensive rebounds
and key moments and then hit backbreakingshots because of that. So I think
that should inform how the Lakers buildthe roster. But in terms of like
I mean again in year twenty, like, I think you got a factor

(23:03):
that in and just Lebron isn't goingto be able to give you everything he
has defensively on a given night, and you need to look two ways to
kind of address that, is heis he the better option to pay?
Is it better that he's the oneA to AD's one B or one B
to AD's one A instead of havingDavis be the clear number one and maybe
another younger star Kamala, Donovan Mitchellor a Tree young if that were the

(23:29):
path they were going to try togo, which do you think is the
better pair? So this is theto me, the question of the summer
is do they go with the threestar build which clearly blew up in their
face in twenty twenty one with theRussell Westbrook trade. I think that is
a trade they're still paying for tosome extent that there's still been ripple effects
with that and really the continuity andthe depth lost with trading out Cal Kuzma

(23:56):
KCP losing Alex Cruso in the summerthat year because they took on some additional
money in that trade. They alsotook on, you know, the re
signing Taylor Horn Tucker, and thenthat kind of you know, led to
them having to make a tough financialdecision where they could have kept Alex Crusoe,
but they decided to let him walk. Since then, he's become I
mean, he was already a reallygood to elite defender, but he's become

(24:19):
arguably the best perimeter defender in theleague or in that conversation, and they
could really use a guy like that, especially starting think about him starting next
to Austin Reeves or starting next toD'Angel Russell, Like that would be an
ideal backcourt pairing, so to me, like whether they go down that route
of Trey Young, Donovan Mitchell,Kyrie Irving, those have been the names

(24:40):
I've heard over the last few monthsin a couple of the like Trey Young
is expected to be available, Donovan, Mitchell, and Kyrie. I think
it depends on how their teams fairein playoffs. And Donovan's been a lot
of smoke about him not wanting tostay in Cleveland long term, but he
also has New York ties, somaybe the I mean the NIXT with Jayleen
Brunson, the way he's playing,I don't necessarily see that happening, but

(25:00):
the nets will be there, butso Old the Lakers and then Kyrie kind
of depends on what happens in Dallas. But then the other option is just
do you reload with basically most ofthe same supporting cast, But maybe you
swap out Dangel Russell Opson and youtrade him, or you execute a sign
in trade, or Ruey have Chamoraand you attach a pike or something to
him to bring in a better twoway forward, So there are some marginal

(25:22):
moves they can make where they cankind of keep the continuity together together,
And to me, I kind oflean more toward the continuity path because I
think this group has been right there, made the conference finals last year.
Outside of that three and ten stretchand end season tournament, they were winning
a fifty plus win pace in asixty two win pace with Ruy Hachimora as
a starter at the end of theseason. So like the I think the

(25:45):
wins are there, and if theycan stay healthy and just swap in some
of the right pieces, I thinkthis team could be a top four team
in the West. And then onceyou're there, it's just about matchups and
health. So I don't think they'retoo far away. But if they go
to the Star route, I thinkthat's a that Lebron is going to be
taking a step back offensively. It'sgoing to be more of you know,
that star and ad leading the way, and that's just kind of like the

(26:08):
final phase of Lebron's career. Butto me, this is the most interesting
thing in terms of which way theLakers go, because I think it's ultimately
going to decide whether they can winanother championship with Lebron Nabe Yovann Boja is
our guest from the Athletic and SpectrumSports. Now, what do you think
is going to happen to ham Yovannand when do you think we're going to
know? Yeah, So the latestwe've reported at the Athletic is that everything

(26:33):
we've heard is that he's unlikely toreturn next season as the Lakers head coach,
and it is for multiple reasons. As I just mentioned the three and
ten stretch after the nd season tournament, a lot of people within the organization
and outside of the organization look atthat as the time that really cost the
team. Where had they gone likejust six and seven or even seven and

(26:57):
six over that and instead of threeto ten, we're talking about a team
that is a five or six seed, and now all of a sudden,
you're not playing Denver round one. You're playing either the Clippers or you're playing
the Timberwolves. And the Lakers feltmuch better about their odds in both of
those series than playing Denver round one, who's been their kryptonite now for a
couple of years. So during thatstretch, the Lakers are actually largely healthy.

(27:21):
They have used health as an excusefor them under achieving. But the
top four players all played seventy oneplus games, and really the DLO,
Austin, and ab all played seventysix plus games. Lebron was the one
guy who missed a little bit more, But they were good without Lebron.
So some of the injury stuff, like if you're blaming your season on Jared

(27:42):
Vanderbilt and Gabe Vincent and Cam Reddishmissing a bunch of time, I don't
necessarily buy that, and I don'tthink a lot of people within the organization
by that either. So the injurynarrative doesn't really apply here. So I
think they look at that stretch wherethey tried six different starting lineups, all
wing lineups, where they didn't haveshooting out there, and they didn't have

(28:03):
ball handling, and it was basicallyjust defensive minded wings, and they went
two and three in that stretch, and it was a critical stretch where they're
playing the Thunder and the Celtics,it was the Christmas Day game, and
like they just looked at that stretchas like, you know what, And
at the time they benched d LO, Austin Ruey and it's like these are
our third, fourth and fifth bestplayers. There are third, fourth and

(28:25):
fifth hottest paid players. And theplanning for the offseason was continuity. We
wanted to run it back and buildoff last year. Why are we venting
all these guys? So that reallythat stretch really was when the red flags
started to come out in terms ofDarbenham's future. That was when I had
to report with Sham's in early Januaryabout him being on the hot seat.
And then since then, you know, things obviously got better. They finally

(28:47):
settled on Ruey and the starting lineup. They started to turn things around,
but it was a little bit toolittle, too late. And also people
referenced Torrian Prince starting for basically thefirst fifty games of the season, and
like he was signed to be abench player, a nice fifteen to twenty
minute guy, and a lot ofnights he was playing thirty, thirty five,
even forty minutes when Ruiy Hutchma wascollecting kabla is on the bench,

(29:11):
and it was just like, whyreplaying this player who is objectively worse and
not contributing as much. And thenthere's also the tie with Darvin having coached
him previously, so there was justkind of a lot there in terms of
where the season went wrong and littlethings. So as far as when I've
heard different things on that, Imean like logically that the sooner the better,

(29:33):
but you know, potentially by theend of the week, I think
what makes sense, But I don'tknow for certain in terms of a clear
timeline. Hey, Wings was ahell of a sitcom and I will not
have it to spears. Jovann Buhais with us. So if they have
to hire a new coach, that'sanother new coach. Then that's another reset,
another continuity reset. How far doesit set him back? And who

(29:55):
do you think would be out thereto be hired? You think Lou would
be hired after the Clippers blowing onproduct. I think if he's let go,
I think he will certainly be acandidate. I mean, Lebron James
has made it pretty well known howclose the relationship is, how big of
a fan of t Lou he is. I think about early in January,
the Lakers had a right after theylost that four game losing streak, and

(30:19):
that's when really all the speculation withDarvin's future starts. They won a big
game against the Clippers and someone asksLebron, what do you think of these
James Harden new look Clippers, Like, what are your impressions? And he
corrects the reporter and he goes,it's the tu Clippers. And he needed
five games to figure this out.And some people took that as a subtle
shot at Darvin because clearly at thetime the Lakers had not figured things out

(30:44):
and they were hovering around five hundred. But I mean Lebron, Lebron wanted
when they replaced Luke Walton, Lebronwanted lou hired, and they ultimately did
not do that and then went ina different direction and it ended up working.
They hired Frank Vogel and they wantto championship. But if if Tyrold
new is available, I do suspectthat he will be a candidate. And
that will also depend on does hewant to be coaching next year, does

(31:07):
he want to take a break likethat. There's a lot of factors that
go into it. I think JJRedick is and just to be closing his
peer speculation before the aggregation ar whythey're doing the podcast, why they're doing
it boo, I mean, looklike it's right there. Jam Reddick has
stated for a couple of years nowhe wants to be a head coach.
He's currently been interviewing with the CharlotteHornets. He's one of the two front

(31:29):
runners, and he has a goodrelationship with Lebron and they have a podcast.
So I don't know how that relationshipdynamic would would go in terms of
going from podcast co host to playerand coach, Like, think about you,
guys, what have you becoming thecoach and one of you beg the
player like that, It's going tobe a weird dynamic. So that's like
the one thing. JJ also doesn'thave any head coaching experience, and I

(31:52):
think the Lakers are probably going totry and bring in a more veteran person.
But I think JJ, if hegets the Lebron co signed that that
doesn't you know, it's gonna meansomething. So GAJ Mike Bunholzer is the
top head coach right now available. The one thing with him, obviously,
is he does have times with Darvin. He was Darvin's mentor, so it
be kind of weird replacing Darvin withthe guy he learned from. If the

(32:16):
Lakers have certain qualms with his rotationsand his timeouts and his adjustments and stuff.
It's like, well, that's theguy he learned it from, so
it kind of will necessarily makes senseto hire him. So I think those
are gonna be some of the namesfloated out, maybe some high level assistant
coaches. But it promises to bean exciting coaching search because I think to

(32:37):
me, it is gonna be thetop job on the market, Like to
coach the last couple years of Lebroncoach in LA coach the Lakers. It
is a pressure cooker. You geta lot of scutiny, you get a
lot of attention. People are gonnapour over your timeouts and your adjustments and
all this different stuff. But itstill is, in my opinion, the
most prestigious head coaching position in theleague. Well, I like being spoken

(32:58):
to in a condescent tone. SoJJ Medick is my guy. Perfect,
that's all. It's gonna be agreat year. You're gonna love it.
Booh, You're gonna love it.He is gonna talk down to you like
nobody like oh yeah, real mediatrail. Yeah yeah, sells Lebron.
You're an idiot for asking that question. Thanks idiot, Thank you, Booh.

him a call. Are you gonnado some Galla intelligence? Kates? Like

(34:51):
you know, you get a callfrom the galla and see what's popping at
the galla? What ed? What? You know? What's what's happening,
What somebody's singing, what somebody's doing, what somebody's saying. If Fast eight
got drunk and fell over? Yeah, if somebody wants to check in,
by all means check in all right? Matt Sasa, that's not cool.
I saw a story you would enjoy. What do we get? Well?
I was out searching for stories becauseit's kind of a slow news day,

(35:13):
little bit unless you want to talkabout kids getting kicked in the balls at
four point thirty in the morning, which is satisfying, or graffiti at Royshall
very depressing. Millions of dollars indamage, Matt, Well, at least
the building's only one hundred years old. That doesn't fall under your First Amendment
rights to destroy the property. No, I believe you now have the right
to get your head caved in byhim and get your ball stomped on by

(35:35):
me. I'm an English major,Please don't fail me. I'm a liumel
driver, Matt. I was.I was looking at Yahoo, which is
an aggregator, as you know,in the world of sports. Oh,
they aggregate the hell out of it. And they have a heading, and
under the heading it says lay offseason, because lay off season like lay

(36:00):
bitch or late fowl or Lebron. It has something to do with Lebron.
And I said layoff season. Imean, we're right in the throws of
the first round of the playoffs. The Knicks are alive. Last night,
I was sitting at that other galaand I showed up our friend Jim Lindbergh

(36:20):
the Clipper score because he asked, and Donovan franken Ryder came over and was
like, the Clippers are in thefinals. I said, no, Donovan,
that's good for you, Donovan. And then the Kings, the King's
people were speaking and they're like,we're just tied it up. And Donovan
looked at me and said, theKings are in the finals. Said no,

(36:42):
it's a first round. That's atrue story. But anyway, Matt,
I saw this and the headline asfar as one of the headlines said
this, and I knew you wouldenjoy this story. I said, I'm
going to get this story and I'mgonna summarize set me. But to summarize
it for Matt Smith, the headlinesaid this, go ahead, ask me
what are the headlines? What arethe headlines? Vintage performance? What's behind

(37:09):
NBA stars wine obsession? And it'sall about Lebron and the development of his
interest in fine vintage wine. Don'tyou play the deflator? Don't you do
it? Oh? Okay, youneed to be that way. This is

(37:30):
what it says, Matt. I'mgonna read you a line. I'm gonna
read your line from the story byAaron Tims. The King of the Court
is now the king of wine influencers, Wine influencers. How do you like
that, Matt? I'm gonna drinkwine because Lebron James drinks wine. He's
gonna make the wine recommendations for me. He's got the palette of a six

(37:55):
year old. You don't know thattold you you don't know that. Let
me share a post please that Lebronposted that was shared in this article in
The Guardian. It talked about apost he put up of a Guardian This
is international yes of a nineteen eightyfour kmus Cabernet and Lebron wrote this.

(38:20):
They say my birth year was oneof the worst years in wine history.
But I can't front. This isdrinking very good right now lay off season
nice and you can only imagine whereit goes from the talks about JJ Reddick

(38:43):
and Lebron on some podcast talking aboutwine getting into all their cool wines that
they have and how NBA players havea great palette for wine because they need
something to spend their millions and millionsand millions and millions and millions and millions
and millions and top of millions ofdollars on love to know how he curated
his palette to be so refined.Later in the article, Kevin Durant is

(39:06):
compared to a lean and in ared Westbrook an overeager. I'm arone Yannis
as an inky vert zombie steph Curryas a fine bubble crement, and yes,

(39:30):
Lebron as a regal bottle of age. Didn't we? Huh? Cook?
Didn't we? I think this isthe part of the Friends with Rusty
Glamour where I'm dumping the gasoline allover my body self emoliation exactly right,

(39:50):
just like airplane. I'm just sittingthere trying to get the spark. The
piece was written by Aaron Tims.It wasn't absolute Mount Vesuvius size pile of
steaming crap, but lay off seasonis upon us, Matt, and it
doesn't matter if Sega's out there battling. Yeah, it's like the Celtics or

(40:16):
the Knicks or the three time MVP. You're still alive. The Lebron's beautiful
palette. And I knew when Isaw that story that I would relay it
to you and you would be pleasedhearing about how he is the most influency
of wine influencers, correct walk inthe earth right now, the number one

(40:38):
guy. I wonder what he didn'twe What would he describe boss as us
easy short dog at night train rightout of the cooler. I think twenty
oh, come on, that's notwine. All right, we'll be back.
