from the Galpin Motors Broadcast booth.Five thirty PM. Dodgers on deck.
So you start twenty five minutes early, we get an extra hour of radio.
That's how it works. Two tofive thirty today and tomorrow. And
we're hopeful that hopeful music at noon. Hopeful music at noon Dix part of
(01:41):
the He's part of the propaganda machineand it's upsetting. He's part of the
mah noke. Well, but Idon't think it's intentional, like whither you
just parents whatever he thinks the rightthing to do by Lebron. Yes,
others are given talking points by Clutchsports men. People like them. They
spit them out. People like VICfollow those they purposely talking and they're part
(02:05):
of the machine. No affiliation withClutch Sports, No, there's not,
VIC, but you do. They'rebidding for them despite getting none of the
better. They don't have to sayanything, and you do it anyway,
Like Wendy's got a job because theygave they insisted ESPN higher. Hey,
you want access to Lebron, you'rehiring Brian Windhorse. All right, Okay,
that's worth it for us. We'llhire this guy that doesn't necessarily look
(02:28):
like a TV reporter. But ifthat's the only way we're getting to Lebron,
I suppose that's how we'll do this. That's what they got out of
it, and that's what Windy gotout of it. You get none of
it, Vic. You don't evenget like a Blaze pizza coupon to go
get a free Blaze pizza. Nobodydoes you get a ration a crap from
us? That's all you get.N How does it feel? And I
love it? And I love it. I speak from the heart because I
(02:50):
have no ties to Clutch Sports.I have no ties to lebron It can't
be your heart. I come froma point where I I'm rooting for the
underdog. And this is not anunderdog. I told you guys, he's
not Underdog's come back from an incrediblehard issue. You know what I might
pull. I might pull the chokechain off a mat and he's gonna mall
(03:14):
you. It's not He's gonna maulyou, Vic. He's gonna maul you
like a doberman with maul a mailman. Do you want to be that malemn
being mauled? Do you want tobe the male man who's been mauled?
I love you. I'm gonna takeon his planet. See the combine with
(03:37):
Bronnie James in Chicago. My identityhe wants, he wants to start washing
up Brownie James and the combine. He said underdog, he said he's he
can't be an underdog. It's notpossible for him. To be an underdog.
If the only reason he's being talkedabout is because he's Lebron's son,
he shouldn't be at the combine anunderdog and he shouldn't be at the combine
either. No, he's at thecombine because it moves the needle. Because
people want to watch Lebron James son. That's why he's there, which is
(04:00):
fine. It's entertainment. You wantpeople to watch watch You're not going to
watch Bronnie James in there. That'sfine, but that if there's one thing
he is not, it's an underdog. Did you did you not? Did
you do a brownni song in thelast hour? Victor? You did you
do a song? No? Notlike no, there was o Bronnie toon?
(04:21):
No. No, because it soundslike you're playing his flute right now,
I'll tell you that. Oh youunderstand he can't be an underdog,
right like? Think about all theguys that they listen. We'll look at
it. Look at here's a textmix. Here's a text So came at
(04:42):
two o seven one minute ago, fresh off the press. Do you buy
your so called Toyota dealers? Wemake it easy? Hey, pe,
what's with vic? And this underdogb as the washing is getting out of
hand. You're right, Matt, this is like one of those car washes
where they lose control of the bubblesand it's like now I was all of
a sudden, it's like a bubblefrat party is seeping everywhere. We can't
(05:03):
control the SuDS. How is hean underdog? Day? He's an underdog
because he comes back from a hardissue. But he was never told he
wasn't gonna play again, like hehad the herd issue. Terrifying, understandable
miss miss miss missed half of aseason, not even missed much less than
a third of a sea, noteven that, Like I think he was
(05:24):
ready to go like two three games. He there was no minute restriction.
His career was never in jeopardy, which were you know, obviously thankful for
that, But that does not like, that doesn't make him an underdog,
Like don't you see yourself as avictim of propaganda here? Vic, Like
every few days a story leaks aboutthis and there's something positive for you to
(05:46):
hang on to, like a fleaon a nutsack. Don't you don't you
feel that at all? Yeah? You both lee, not at all,
because I watched the combine. Isaw Ronnie. Yeah, it had a
great shooting exhibu, which was obviouslyI've never seen a basketball player shoot the
ball. Well, there's no onein his face. I understand what.
I'm just going by the combine,Jesus, and he had a good shooting
(06:09):
combine. Are you doubting me thathe did not have a good shooting combine?
I don't. I don't think itmeans anything. It doesn't. And
I mean, look, Vick,I think there's two It's positive. It's
better to make him than miss him, that's for sure. But a fifteen
of shooting. Yes, there's areason why Johnny Hecker, a punter,
weighed in because he comes from theworld of football, and that drill is
(06:30):
very similar to the gauntlet drill. And you can catch every football if you're
not running full speed. You canmake all those three pointers if you're not
playing at game speed. And whenlebron when Bronni is sauntering through the drill
at twenty percent of game speed, you better make all of them. You
can catch all the gauntlet balls whenyou're half ass in it down the line.
(06:50):
That's why the coaches scream at peopleduring that drill more than anything else.
Run run, That's all we wantto see. Hey, Bronni,
move, shake your ass, putit up like you would in a game.
I was at USC one summer andI would catch balls and rebound for
David Bluthenthal, who was a threepoint shooting forward for the USC basketball team
(07:15):
never played the NBA. I'd sitthere for a half hour and he wouldn't
miss. These guys make shots. They'd make shots, and that you would
tout that after never watching the combineever. We never watch a combine.
It's never on. No one evercares about it. The last time we
talked about the combine was when KevinDurant couldn't bench the bar, which was
like twenty years ago. And nowwe're making a story out of this.
(07:40):
Don't you feel a little bit manipulated. He's six foot one, Vic,
he's six I know he lost twoand a half inches at the combine.
A shot. Listen. I'm justsaying it's a positive first step for Brianni.
That's oh. I'm not saying this. I'm saying this isn't gateway to
the NBA. I'm not saying that'sthe gateway to the NBA is having a
(08:01):
good shooting combine. I'm saying that'sa positive step. That's all I'm saying.
It is he is, he's makingYou're taking a real buckshot approach.
Vic. He is benefiting from thisbeing an absolutely awful NBA draft, and
he still shouldn't be at the combine. Right. That should tell you something
in there too that it is ahorrible draft. It is devoid of star
power. Connect my counsel, right, dude out of Tennessee is like the
(08:22):
Bang, clinging and Castle like that. There are no superstars in this draft.
So the NBA needs to attach themselvesto something. That's something is the
son of Lebron. He's not anunderdog. He is being propped up beyond
what yet you have his plane potentialis you got two steel Wolves in either
hand, Vic, and you're justscrubbing Testes. My counsel to Briani would
(08:48):
be another year at USC now. They don't want him, Vic taking another
coach fired add Infield to Lebron's listof the six. They don't want him
him, Yeah, maybe they do. He puts asses in seats at what
cost? Low impact player, atwhat cost, at the cost of your
(09:09):
culture? Yes, yes, theydon't want them. VIC. League wants
a G League team, wants themto actually put asses in the seats for
the first time in the history ofthe G League. VIC. Here comes
Now that was the only accurate thingtweeted, and that was tweeted by who
Adrian Warjanowzi. Exactly. He's theonly one that's not on the Lebron payroll.
Exactly right. He scrubs other nuts, but not Lebron. How you
(09:31):
think Shams came up because woj wouldn'tdrink the Lebron kool aid, so Lebron
gave it all to Shams. Andnow he's relevant. Either Lebron wouldn't serve
it or Woge wouldn't drink it.Either way, it's not partaken by that
one bespectacled guy, that's right, and the Drakar guy laps it up like
a retriever level. Here's another text, VIC, just so you know how
(09:54):
people feel. Here's an overhand rightcoming from the sixty sixth Oh no,
is this from the official text? Also one correct? No, it came
via carrier pigeon. I just landedoutside the window. Hold on, let
me pull the capsule off his back. Underdog underdog. Have the for you
(10:15):
an underdog when you've got a silverspoon dangling around your neck. V tb
has lost his frigging mind, andsome say you've cooked your brain with this,
Vic. Some say, isn't evenmore difficult when your father? No
doors are opened, That's the onlyreason these doors have opened for him.
(10:39):
Vic. You still gotta bust throughthe door. No, Vic, they
have all been opened for him andhas been thrown at his feet begging him
to come through. You still gotto execute. Even though the door is
opened, You still gotta bang thedoor through. Four points a game of
(11:01):
usc or being lying about his height, having Brian Windhorse go on TV and
get all windy about your your prospects, making a bunch of people talk about
you in ways that just not merit. The meritocracy of the NBA is being
bastardized. Don't you see this? Can't you see this? Vic? Can't
(11:22):
you see it? Plainly to saysomeone finished second at the combine in three
pointers, it's just the dumbest thingI've ever heard. Bronnie had a very
And here's something else that's interesting, guys. Bronnie had a very good combine
day yesterday. He finished second inthe three point competition. It's not a
(11:43):
three point competition. It's a warmup and you better make them. Oh
yeah, there's one ball that's worthfour points. You know, Vic,
it was one thing when you wereall up on lamar Odom because you and
him were friends, right, youknow absolutely, you're not friends with these
people. Why are you doing this? Youlx skin products love them. Why
are you doing this Alfred and haffVic, there's no Alfred in haff in
(12:07):
Bronnie's future. I am. Iam in rapture that Bronnie came back,
you know, from from the hartailment to play and he's continuing. I
believe you're playing that. You're tryingto shame the bottom of the deck.
You're trying to shame us at thebottom of the deck. You're trying to
(12:28):
share the underdog. You played thatfrom the bottom of the deck. I've
called him the underdoor. Nobody elsecalls him that because it's Jazz and Hine,
the underdog, the underdog. Hewas put on the uh the All
the All League team in high schoolwhen he was the fourth best player on
his team. It's crazy. Somesquad that was some squad it's crazy,
(12:54):
like that's a If there's one thinghe's not, Vic, it's an underdog.
I have to say, I'm verydisappointed by this whole. Listen.
It's very easy to beg on Bronnie. It's very easy to beg on bron
Well, yeah, because he's beendone a terrible situation by his meglomaniac father.
Exactly. Don't you see this?Don't you see every single planted story
as propaganda and bs? No?Okay, no, I don't. I
(13:18):
don't, all right. I mean, you've done this a long time,
Vic, and you're a brilliant man, and yet you're still susceptible. You're
still susceptible to media tricks. Listen, some media can be manipulated. Again,
I have no I have no tiesto Bronnie, to Braun, to
Clutch Sports. They're not going tosend you anything. That's okay, They're
(13:41):
not. It's okay. He noaffiliation, you know what, Vic,
Let me put it. Let melet me see if you can see it
through this through this para spectacles?Huh have you ever heard of a national
media campaign to celebrate an individual thatis a one and done player from college
(14:03):
basketball who enters averaging four points,a couple rebounds, a couple assists,
and measures in at six foot one. Have you ever heard that player celebrated
in the history of the NBA predraft projects and if they overcame aasee,
even if they overcame, yes, have you ever heard of that a celebration
(14:26):
of that player. We had aone armed NFL player and we didn't celebrate
that guy. Right, one offteam Griffin did not get this type of
celebration. You want to talk aboutan underdog, the one armed kickoff team
guy, that's an underdog. Thisis a rare narrative because he's Lebron James
Junior. Of course, that's anelement. That's not an element. It's
(14:52):
the element. There's a difference. It is not oon element. It is
elements. It's the water part ofthe ocean. Vic by his numbers at
USC, what about the high schoolnumbers? Watching them play, I'm watching
them play. I watch I watchedhim play numerous occasions. Then you would
(15:13):
recognize he's a low impact player. If you watched him play at USC,
he was finding his game. Isaw a great court center, so I
saw a great court savvy. That'sjust impossible. I saw a court savvy.
You did. Now, does ittranslate to the NBA. I don't
know. If I'm the Lakers atfifty five, do I take him?
I don't know. Maybe I don'tknow. I have to say he was
(15:35):
on the board, but that wouldbe a stretch. I saw a great
court Savvy's just ridiculous. That isridiculous to say my dad was like this
with a Greek center. USC hada backup Greek center, and my dad
I would this was like right whenI got done playing, when I was
first of the media and I didn'thave anything to do, I'd go.
(15:56):
I'd go to the before I wasa PA guy, just go to the
sports wed and be hanging I watchgames with the don He'd be like,
did you see cost us he toppedthat ball and it topped to one guy
and the other He caused that turnover. He touched the ball. Did you
see he tipped that rebound to theother guy. He affected that shot.
(16:17):
He finished with only three points, but he's impact on the game. You
know, thank you, right,And it's like that's this is what this
sounds like. Yes, we havean update from the NBA. Combine,
guys, what do we got yesterdaythey did individual workouts as Victa was alluding
to the Gritish three point shooting displaywe've ever seen. Yeah, twelve,
twenty twelve, I believe right.Yeah. Today we have scrimmages and Ronnie
(16:37):
James has just completed a scrimmage.Oh, here we go. Hold on
Team Saint Andrew's defeated Team Foign Kellyeighty nine to eighty one. Oh Tyk
seventeen points for Baylor Shireman a forward, seventeen points for Antonio Reeves off the
bench, thirteen points for A.J. Johnson. A Damn Bona played
(17:03):
almost twenty minutes, six points, five rebounds and fouled out. God damn
come on man. JT Toppin elevenpoints, ten rebounds on the double double.
Let's go Obie's brother number fifty,Hold on number fifty Brownie James for
(17:25):
Team Saint Andrews an eighty nine eightyone winner, nineteen minutes and forty seconds,
four points, four rebounds, zeroassists and three turnovers. Oh you
t ag hey, I M frnightSouthern cal By the way. Kate Jay
(18:00):
Simpson out of Shamana High School inColorado. He was a star player in
the Pac twelve this year. Yeah, sixteen points. There we go for
the other team. Hey, uh, Kates, what did he shoot?
Take a lot of shots? Toomuch in it? He was two of
eight. Oh so this sounds likethat's court savvy right there. This sounds
like a guy who should be fightinghold on assignment at usd r UC Irvine.
(18:23):
Right now, two of eight fromthe floor, Matt, but from
three point land, here we go, all right, here we go?
Oh fix wearing this right on theball. I mean you saw the display
he put on yesterday, Vic,he was number two. Shoot, I
saw something I saw on He followedthat up today? Guys over four from
(18:45):
beyond the arc. Oh, that'sa real deflator. You mean he couldn't
just saunter to his spot and casuallyput up one three pointer after another at
half speed. Has that deflated yourglands? Vic? I bet your glands
are pretty defined now. I'm notover amped from yesterday's shooting exhibition. I'm
(19:06):
not and I'm not. You know, listen, Vick, I know by
one run we're bad guys for celebratinghis failure. That's fine, we're bad
guys. We understand and is celebratinghis heart problem. It is us pushing
him back against the boot liquors, against the SIKA fans. That's why we
have to do this. Propaganda's alwaysphony. Like Bob Dylan, he says
(19:27):
it's right. We have to dothis because nobody else will, and because
you got people saying that Brownie Jamesis seiling is higher than Austin Reeds,
who averaged forty three per game inhigh school. Kates, Yeah, are
there any stats on costasis? Hedid not get He didn't get invited to
(19:47):
the combine. He might be there, but I don't see him for Team
Boring Kelly or Saint Andrews. Playthis game a dem bona though nineteen minutes
fouled out of the game, Scots, I'm gonna get my minutes worth now,
guys, that was a real hardpun to growing. Oh. By
the way, Bronnie James did startfor Team Sant Andrews. Okay, he
(20:10):
was one of the two guards.Totally warranted nineteen minutes, forty seconds two
of these shooting over four, Kates, can you see who he might have
played opposite? Since I believe itwas it was it was that this guy
that thety reminded him of Gary Payton. He was somebody in Utah said.
The two guards for the other teamwere Cam Spencer, Oh, I like
(20:30):
Cam Spencer out of Yukon and Beakmanb E E K m A n Reese
Beakman. Okay, those were theother two starting guards. No trouble breathing,
oh baby steps for running baby stepsRee. Beakman's out of Virginia,
so he should be. So,you know what, maybe got locked up
four years in the ACC for TonyBennett's style of defense. You know,
(20:52):
you can't expect Briannie to have agood game. That's not what it's going
to be like in the NBA.Okay, the NBA players they do not
play defense like UV under Tony Bennett. Yah're right, So he'll never have
to face that style of being lockedup again. Maybe time to jump back
onto the otai son Lily Pad,what do you say, Vic, Well,
like I said, baby steps ofBronnie James, he's gonna He's gonna
go in through the process. Buthe obviously has to improve his his craft.
(21:15):
He should be at USD playing forSteve Lavin. That's where he should
be. Like Marcus Marcus Jordan's playedat Central Florida and that was that.
My counsel has always been one moreyear at Troy sharping those skills. Okay,
the problem, Vick is everybody wantedto celebrate his shooting day yesterday,
and they did so on the nationalmedia outlet, and you tried to do
(21:38):
it, Vic, and then theharpoon just came and blew your balloon out
of the sky. Their flagship morningshows each had a segment dedicated to Bronnie's
combined shooting performance propaganda, Vic,And that's unacceptable. Do you like pedaling
the propaganda bicycle. I don't buyinto drills, but I was. I
was happy to see seem like seemedlike it was a minute of fifteen of
(22:00):
no defense in your face. That'sthat's that's not a true jump shot.
A jump shot. Someone's going tobe in your face out a little bit
goes zero for four. There isa giant hedge that has grown in the
sports world. On one side ofthe hedge, it's team ball Wash.
On the other side of the hedgeits team I live in reality. I
don't care what Lebron and Clutch sayto me, and do they can.
(22:22):
Lebron and Clutch can do nothing tome that Castro has not already done.
Can I bring up this other statthat just immediately jumped out of me?
What have we got? Keates Imentioned as shooting the four from three,
four from three, eight, twofor eight from the floor. Copy that
total four points, four points oneight shots, four rebound. VIC is
just a flat carcass. A fewweeks ago, just the message was being
(22:44):
pushed that oh, he was outof position at USC, he's more of
a distributor. Yes, he's apoint guard. That's right, right,
Well, it's six foot one. It's very hard to play shooting guard since
the average shooting guard is six sixin the NBA. It makes sense because
maybe that message was right because todayBronni James for Team Saint Andrew distributor zero
assists. Yeah, but how manyturnovers Witeah two turnovers, three turnovers,
(23:07):
so you had a zero to threeassist a turnover ratiop. His game is
suited for right now, there's aboutfifty dude. The dudes in the G
League, like the guys that haveto survive on their per diem. They're
like, tonight, I'm going toApplebee's. So they're making it like thirty
g's this year and Lebron James kidis going to have a physio guy and
like a chef with him, andthe whole league in the G League is
(23:30):
going to line up to hang theirnuts on this poor kid because of his
idiot dad and the position that heput in. And that's what you should
be upset about. Vic. Everyother kid at the combine is staying at
the UI C Flames dorms. Bronniis staying at the Peninsula. Yeah,
and every day you can go tothe Lows in Santa Monica and see Eric
Musselman drunk at the bar celebrating thathe doesn't have to coach Bronni James or
(23:52):
deal with Lebron next year. Dragsaround him. Well, let's face it,
he's what how old is barrin thatnineteen oh? Now we're going to
go that angle. I'm saying he'sat a very young stage of his career
and I'm not going to Barry Brownie, you know, as a lot of
(24:14):
pundits like at this point say hehas no shot. Shots saying that he
has a shot at what a makingand make any association every kid Division I
college basketball has a shot and somethat aren't. Yeah, did you ever
see the air up there, signthat guy in a heartbeat, NUBA draft
(24:36):
pick Listen, I'm ruining for thekid. I'm ruining for the kid.
Don't put that on us. Don'tmake us look like we're bad guys.
Fail. You're rooting for the propaganda. You're coming from, the statistics.
You're coming from the poor numbers andhis pure numbers were just pushing back on
the propaganda machine VIC that you're nowpart of. We're pushing back numbers.
Number about the kid. Don't don'tscream, NBA. But you don't see
(25:00):
the depth that VIC sees. Youdon't see the multi dimension. I don't
see the court savvy. You don'tsee the multi dimension, don't I don't
see the court savvy and a zeroassist three turnover, two for eight shooting
effort, I don't see it again. It's just it's a run, it's
a shooting exhibition. He's got along way to go and a short time
to get there. You know thatis a really discouraging segment. LaToya Tuesday,
(25:30):
No, no, not now,no, No, think's a chance,
man. You guys just beat thecrap out of him for twenty minutes
and he's still stancing now VIC walkedin here. Have that box score gone
a different way? Vic? Youacross? I feel like this is like
a G I. Jane when they'retraining G I. Jane and the one
(25:51):
guy's beating her up and the otherguy's like, you know what, I
got a problem with this. Yougot a problem with this? Yeah,
I got a problem. I likethis. If Browny at fifteen and five's
the same thing dragged your DNA,you got a long way, Vic,
You're got a long way. Youmust improve your skills. You're such you're
such a dynamic person and broadcaster. You don't have to wash these people's balls.
(26:11):
You don't. You don't have tolie to kick at Vic. I'm
going from the heart for Bronnie andI'm rooting for the kid. I get
the pun going from the heart. And again you're trying. You're trying to
suggest, trying to shave it.We're animals, not at all. He
goes. If he goes valid opinion, you have a valid opinion. It's
great sports talk. The drone show. The drone show that says, f
(26:32):
you over your house tonight, VICis sponsored by me. I can't take
this anymore like I can't. Ican't. I can't listen to you do
this to yourself. These people aren'tyour friends, Vic, They don't care
about us. I have no affiliationwith them exactly. So speak the truth,
not the propaganda. He should beat us D and then we could
(26:52):
go down there and be like,Wow, he's really climbing the depth chart
for the fighting Catholics. Lavin's reallygood him going. I was thinking,
calu D three. Thank you Vic, We love you, Vic, feel
you guys, Vic. I wasclose. Brinnan goes crazy in that scrimmage.
(27:18):
We got a real problem here. What do you think of Kate's is
like Bronnie twenty five ten for ten, twenty five ten for eleven in just
eight minutes. They were down tengoing into the last four minutes of the
game. Bronnie had six steals. But that worked out. That worked out
all right, Not for me,not emotionally. What's the Gottlieb story here?
(27:41):
Kate's he'll either join us on theother side or we'll have a little
flip top. Okay, yep,I'm sure Doug will be excited about the
the breaking news. Does he stilllike gonna have hot tape? I think
he's not. I he's gotta bea little careful with that. Maybe he
can recruit Bronnie to play with.Ask. Gottlie just got a job and
(28:02):
he's gonna do his radio show, and he's gonna coach big time college basketball.
And he's right there, I meanmaybe three hours north of the Combine.
Bronnie, come on, get outof here. You're not going to
the NBA. Come be a Phoenix, Wisconsin Green Bay. Let's go.
Let's bring the Gottlieb family in clutchsports together. Bet throws some money AM
(28:22):

Congratulations, Doug, this is wildnews for US radio jockey types. Tell

have we all have things like I'msure money somebody said like, hey man,
you want to go tour, Yeah, and be like let's go.
Let's go, right, and everybodyhas that one thing that they've always wanted
to do. Man, I've alwayswanted to do that. I'm not I
don't. I don't. I'm nota skydiver. I have no desire.
(29:52):
Jason Stewart Jay stew As you guysknow he does the bungee jumping. I
don't know that I like basketball.I don't like Yeah, I love it.
Basketballs give me everything I have inthis world, literally everything I have
in this world. And it's likemy family business. And you know what
you guys don't know is my mydad was born in Wisconsin. My dad
was head coach at at a differentschool, state school, UW Milwaukee,
(30:15):
which ironically is our art tribal anduh so, you know I interviewed last
year and talked to Don Martin. You guys can do your Don Martin impressions.
I'm we're no stranger to this.We did this and then correct and
uh and Don was awesome last yearand Scott Shapiro was awesome last year.
(30:37):
And so I mean, this thinghappened really fast because like in a in
a sequence of events, right,I mean, just like the USC thing
with you know, Andy Enfeld. That thing only happened because you know,
SMU opened up and there's a wholetrickle down to it, right right.
So, Uh, the head coachJeff Linder of Wyoming, he'd kind of
got on hard times and had tworough years and I think he got out
(31:02):
before they get and got bad andwent to Texas Tech as their lead assistant
coach, and so Wyoming needed ahead coach. The head coach at Wisconsin
Green Bay who got the job aheadof me is a guy named Sundance Wicks.
That's really his name. He's yeah, all time name, all time
name, Hall of fame, rightall time and Sonny as everybody knows them.
(31:23):
He's like he he's got great energy. And so that happened Thursday.
I'm driving home. I'm actually listeningto you guys on Thursday driving home,
and I texted the Fight treasurer becausewe remain friends, you know. And
and the lesson I think is like, don't be a don't be a B
word when you don't get a job, like somebody else is getting a job
(31:47):
that you want. And and lastyear, honestly, like it was rough
for me because my girls were seniorsin high school, given me seniors in
high school, and I didn't wantto miss that. So it was kind
of a blessing that I got anextra year. But he did a great
job, so he gets job,and then you know, this weekend I
got basically offered the job, andthis morning I accepted the job and sign
a paper and I'm at Burbank flyingto Milwaukee. I land in Milwaukee tonight
(32:10):
and I'll be up in Green Baytomorrow. So what kind of walk us
through when you get hired at thispoint of the off season, Like what
do you do? As Sony?Do you do the press? Commerce?
But then what is your next bitof business? Doug? How does this
all lay out? Well? Youknow, I have the group text from
the remaining players and sign these andyou know, I wasn't allowed to text
(32:32):
them until we agreed to terms, and then I texted them because they're the
most important thing is you want tohave as much cohesiveness as possible. And
then you got to get to it. You know, you got to land
to the press conference, and yougot to I'm gonna have to go out
and meet with all these kids andtheir parents and then and then, you
(32:53):
know, I know I have Ihave an army of friends who have kids
in the portal, and I havesome people who I'd like to consider hiring
that are all part of the equation. And I got to figure out,
you know, how much money Ihave in nil go raise some money.
So again here's the actual timeline.Land tonight. I'm going to make some
(33:15):
calls to the current players and somerecruiting calls while I'm waiting, and then
on my layover, and then whenI land tonight, I got a couple
of calls to some guys on theWest coast, and then I'll get up
early in the morning. I'm probablygonna try and work out and to clear
my head, and then go inand meet with the president and the athletic
(33:37):
director and then with a bunch ofboosters and donors, then do the press
conference. I got a couple moredonors. I'm actually going to do my
show tomorrow because I think that's importantto relate to everybody, like what this
is all like. And then I'mgoing to hit the road to Chicago,
which is about two and a half. Stop at a couple place in Milwaukee,
see a couple of these kids, and I'm going to try and get
(33:59):
my best returning like player, youknow, on board. And then I
got to hit the road and goto a EYB elevant on Friday, and
then on Saturday, I'm gonna flyback because my daughter, one of my
daughters, is going to prom andI want to be there for her.
I also have my AAU team playingthis weekend. I have somebody else is
(34:22):
going to coach that game this weekend. I can't coach them because they're eight
graders because in the stupidest rules inthe history of sports, they considered recruitable
athletes even though they're in eighth grade. Even though I mean, like it's
just dumb, but whatever. SoI'm gonna come and watch my son play
and do some more recruiting on Saturdayand Sunday in Los Angeles, probably do
my show Monday and then fly backto Green Bay and get back and do
(34:45):
it some more. I have theZoom with a kid who's in Israel late
into the night tonight too. Iforgot to mention that Geez Doug Gottlieb moment
and shaken. Now Jay Stu remainthe radio producer. Does he come to
Green Bay to become a basketball opsguy? How does this do? That's
(35:06):
a good that's a good call.Good. The good thing about having Jay
Stu Yet, you know, asas people in the business know, he's
been fighting this hearing issue forever andyou know now he's got a new hearing
aid and it's been great, ButI don't think he can hear you guys.
So no, Jay's Jay's remaining insouthern California with his smoking hot girlfriend
(35:29):
and his hikes and his bungee jumpsand Dan Bayer, who does my updates
until Buyers. He's from Wisconsin,so he's given me all the insight stuff.
So like, look, we alwaysdo training camps, so you usually
Chargers and the Rams and the Cowboys. Well this year I talked to Mark
Murphy this morning. We're doing thePackers and we're doing the Bears, and
I'll probably get out here and seethe lightning bolts. I gotta get her.
(35:51):
I got to do a Harbou interview. So we're gonna skills keep doing
what we're doing. Where you're goingto live, Doug. Are you going
to live in Green Bay? Yeah? Like full time? Right, because
this is not a like well,I mean, like you know, I
have, I have. My myson is likely not to live in Green
Bay, so that part sucks, but he can come up and hang and
(36:13):
hoop and do whatever. And thenyou know, my daughters are going off
to school, so I'm gonna haveto get down to Oklahoma and see one
of my daughter's ride. And thenmy other daughter is going to Berkeley.
She's she's not where your daughter, where your daughter is, but she wants
to be there someday. And she'sa stud. So try and schedule a
game in Boston, schedule game inOklahoma, and schedule game out in California.
So good thing about first year isyou can collect checks and collect elves
(36:37):
and then you know so and thenthe price Yeah, yeah, Danny here,
Daniy Harey called me today and Isaid, Danny that one I don't
want to play that was that. But you know I'll play Bobby. So
I talked to Bobby. I said, Bobby, I mean I'd like to
get out of the cold. Soh we will be we will be uh
(36:57):
making sure that we travel and playroad games and plays that are much warmer
than home. He's going to bringback the heyday of Tony and Dick Bennett
to Green Bay, wiscons And let'sgo Phoenix. Doug, congratulations and what
a great endeavor. Good luck toyou, good luck to the show,
and we'll be in touch, ofcourse and talk to you soon. Have
a great day. Well. Idon't know if you guys are up against
(37:20):
it, but I do like.Look, there's a parallel obviously there with
JJ potentially getting the Lakers job.Oh yeah, And I mean I think
that. I think the big thingis and I've been preparing for this for
a long time. But you know, you just you have to hire people
that know what you don't know, you know, and you have to be
willing to admit you don't know everything. Now it's easier with the Lakers because
they have obviously a lot more moneythan I have. But that's that's the
(37:44):
big thing. I absolutely think,I know it'll work with me. I
think you could work with JJ.I mean, like, look, the
last broadcaster the Lakers hired, well, I guess they hired Magic, but
he wasn't broadcaster yet that's done. But I mean pat Riley was essentially a
broadcaster. I know he's a yearfor assistant for a year, but game
work, but you gotta you gottafind people out. The reason Darvin didn't
(38:05):
work is because Darvin didn't work hard. And you know, he's late to
his own meetings and he wasn't superbuttoned up. And like, look,
Lebron James is a lot of things, and the three of us have chopped
it up on and off air aboutthe things that that are weird about Lebron
James. But he is a superprepared player and when you're not prepared around
(38:25):
him, he can't deal with it. And I don't blame him, and
I don't blame him you like I'mhis level of prepparedness is peak, and
Darvin wasn't that guy. So thebig thing for JJ is, like again,
hire people if they he gets jump, hire people who know what you
don't know, and then also beultra prepared because your best player or your
biggest name player is a preparation freak, and you have to match that and
(38:50):
maybe exceed that level of preparation. And that's what That's what Frank did,
That's what Darvin did not do.Look at that. We get all the
Wisconsin Green Bay Phoenix love and thenwe get a JJ Reddick to the Lakers
bit of analysis on the way out. And that is what Doug Gottlieb's going
to be doing, coaching up GreenBay, Wisconsin, Green Bay and doing
that twelve to two show every dayon Fox Sports Radio. Good stuff.
(39:10):
You need you guys need a bassplayer, Grace needs a gig. You
be a bass player, make sureyou text me money. I will,
I will reach out to you.Six string Dingwall, she's rutched into six
string Dingwall right now. She's afive string Warwick and the six king goog
Dingwall and she's amazing. So maybemaybe just get her to go see a
show, okay, and get themto meet. We will do that before
(39:32):
she travels to Boston and goes toBerkeley. Beautiful. Congratulations Doug, it's
awesome. Thanks there jokes. Newhead coach at Wisconsin Green Bay sounds like
a pretty stressful ninety hours. Reallydoes do you eat cheese kurts? But
where all day you just grays yourgrays on spotted cow and cheese kurts?
(39:54):
Ideas well, I feel like aloser, yea, what do you do
with your life? Petros Matt littlereflection her from both of you guys got
fired from the NFL network. Iwas staking of picking my daughter up from
soccer tonight, but she's not atthe Berkeley School of Music. I got
that Belief podcast, but they don'tpay me. That's good, that going,
(40:20):
you know, tchat with Lorenzo.Hey, guys, which could you
turn your volume? Now? Couldyou keep it down? I'm trying to
prepare here. We'll be back withmore great sports talk, maybe sports talks

slash d one college basketball coach thenext ninety hours come over here real

hot take from you Ago. Ilike it, Todd, long shot,
not underdog. All right, thatwas a bridge too far, Radio,
Matt, I have one. Ihave one text for you, and it's
a It's about the Doug Gottlieb interviewwe did in the last segment. Appreciate
Doug. He just took a jobto be the safe flight to Milwaukee,
Wisconsin Green Bay coach missus Dan pe. That interview was like you and Smith
(42:38):
going back to your hometown in thesummer before graduating underground, and everybody's already
got jobs, rings houses and YouTubebitches are still getting drunk at the local
tavern with all the kids touching yourselveswhile your lizard watches life passing you.
Guys. Bye, it's completely accurate. You want to go on to it,
(43:00):
