(01:06):
they're lucky. It's gonna be alull, it's gonna be a swoon.
They're lucky. We're not doing ashow on Saturday. Okay, if we
were lose tonight this boy, wouldthey hear it if we were tomorrow,
and we would call it sour mashSaturday's right, drunk as all hell,
screaming and yelling. But instead it'sa Frogman Friday prog frog Man Yes.
(01:32):
On a frog Man Friday, Pendresand money show celebrates the ocean, dogmen
and those that keep us safe fromit, the briny deep, the Pacific,
the frothing waves, ships at adistance have every man's wish on board.
Also on a frog Man Friday,we celebrate lifeguards, coastguards, and
(01:56):
frogmen. Perhaps the greatest actor ofour time and play and a real puzzo
slayer in his time. I'm talkingabout the character played by the one and
only Lloyd Bridges and one of themost immortal, most innovative, most knuckle
(02:17):
fighting show in the history of television. You know what I'm talking about,
talking about Sea Hunt. Hold on, I've got it. Oh yeah,
that's right. It's on the machine. It's on the machine, and I
have it. I just did nothave it queued up correctly. Thank you.
Come on, get something out ofhelp it'll be dark soon. Do
(02:40):
you want to sit out here inthis raft all night? No, but
we might have to. Well notif you do something. You want to
listen to me for a minute.During the war, I was in New
DT. I've been stranded in theserafts before. All right, then tell
us what to do. Well, let's not sit here and wait. Let's
do something. Let's think first.Huh, that's the first law of survival.
(03:01):
I gotta save our strength. Wemight need it for Todd Lights Dodger
pa Man Extrataday thirteen to five. What are you nuts? We still got
to take that, lordom Man.You know what that's like. These days.
You got the Navy everywhere, yougot frogmen, you got the e
C two's with the satellite tracking, you got the Bell two nine as salt
(03:24):
choppers up the ass. We're losingone out of every nine loads. That's
no dunk walk anymore. Let metell you, forget about money. What
do you suggest that's reasonable? Didyou just say that there's a liar in
our midst. Yeah, there's aliar. Somebody is a liar to the
(03:45):
people. We do have a problem. All right, Well, hold on,
first, Dina rule, Come on, Dieter Oh you're nor daughter,
(04:23):
Lord knows Warers. Oh you lawyer. Oh, thank you everybody for listening.
(04:47):
Thank you for being part of ourshow. And uh, thank you
to Dieter Ruld for doing that forus with a great atmosphere. Him and
talk create a doctor Stadium. It'snot his fau. Todd likes a pa
Man's pop that the bats were consalolast night. So we will talk to
(05:10):
Dino Ebel Matt in the five o'clockhour about the Dodgers and David Vassy this
hour, and then in the middleof the show we'll talk to Don McClain.
Now in the middle of all that, Matt. While we were doing
all that stuff and I was tryingto figure out what you normally do on
the machine on Friday, I gota Ronnie in my ear started doing the
the slitcher throat sign, you know, the cut off sign, right,
(05:33):
and then Kate's got in my ear. I don't know if they told it
to you. They said, we'vebeen lying out here. They said,
Vic lied to us. I don'twant to start to hear this. I
don't want to start the show likethis. We had stuff to give away.
We got three guests, like wehad a lot to do and we
don't have a lot of time topontificate and be ponderous like we normally are.
But what's the deal, Kate's Ronnie. I walked into the studio and
(05:56):
Vic the Brick was on the hotlinealready punched up, fought his way off
hold, maybe still on hold fromUH when he was all Rogan and Rodney.
So he wasn't on he was onthe phone. He was on the
phone. Was not on com Rextoday, I said to Ronnie and I
said, what's Vic? Don He'she on the phone? He wasn't on
com Rex because nobody for Rogan andRodney showed up today on the telephone And
he said, yeah, Vic toldme that you wanted him on the phone,
(06:19):
and I said, I said, what, No on the telephone.
I'd been in the prep zone doingsome stuff, trying to get some sound
from the LACD council meeting earlier today, big honor for show. Hey,
I didn't return Vic's text at all, and Vix telling Ronnie I told him
to be on the phone to callinto the Petro some money show. He
flied out live. So following theRogan and Rodney show. So Vic called
(06:42):
rod Ronnie and said, Kate's toldme to call on the phone. Y'all.
Well, so this is what happened. So following the Rogan and Rodney
show, when with Vic on thetelephone, I said, Okay, Vic,
that's it. I'll talk to you. Have a nice weekend, you
know whatever. Blah blah blah.Right, and then he says, oh,
Tim told me to stay on thehotline. I said, are you
sure, Vic? He says yes, I'm not going to doubt Vic.
(07:03):
I said, okay, Vic,you know, maybe he did talk to
Tim because I did not. Idid not talk to Tim about it.
And usually Tim and I confer duringat some point during the show, you
know, deciding what to do withVic. At any rate, Vic did
say that, and then Tim Timcomes in and he says, what's up
with Vic? I said, well, Vic's ready to go. He says,
we're not. We're not having Vicon today? Says I told Vic
(07:25):
that. He said you did becausehe told me that you told him,
okay, that we were going tohave him on hotline. So why why
aren't we having Vic on today?Yeah? Well, how did that first
part happen? I think having himon I didn't know if we were going
to have him on. But whenhe just put himself on the hold and
was ready to go and he died, yeah, and then lied about I
said we can have him on,and I told him to be ready on
(07:46):
the phone. I didn't say that. He doubled down, all right,
Matt, First and foremost, wehave tickets to give away to Monday's Dodger
game against the Diamondbacks. It's upthere on Instagram and Twitter and stuff.
So this this show, than thesethree hours, We're going to give away
a pair of Dodger tickets. Westill got the Fountain Blue thing going on
on Monday, right, we shouldhave that Monday, Monday through Friday.
(08:07):
Following Monday through Friday, two daytrip, Fountain Blue Concert, Oasis Pool,
all of that. Be sure totune in Monday. Now do you
think we have to do? Weneed do? I'm gonna be honesty.
I'm confused, Like I'm confused.Did Tim not want Vic on today?
So he told him, don't bother. Tim didn't say anything one day.
(08:28):
He didn't say one way anything oneway or another either way, but Vic
lied to Ronn. He's saying Timtold him to be on a hold on
the phone and get this. Getthis. When Vic called back, because
you know, we hung up onVic. Vic called back and I answered
the phone and I talked to him. I said, Vic, why did
you tell me that Tim told youto stay on hold? Why did you
lie? Yeah, basically without sayingthe ly word, and he he quickly
(08:50):
said, I thought I saw atext. I thought I saw a text.
Right, So he's making up things. What do you think, Matt,
would you let him out of thehole and have him defend him himself
or not? Ronnie, did youtell Vic that he wasn't coming on today?
I told him that he wasn't comingon today based on the fact that
Tim said that we weren't going tohave him on the show today. See,
(09:11):
now that's where I'm confused. Timsays he never said anything of this
of the and when when he cameinto the studio, Vic was already connected
and ready to go. And that'swhen he says, that's when I made
the executive exactly, he says, what's Vic doing on hold? He says,
Well, Vic told me, likehis presumptuousness, that he was going
to be on good I just walkin these guys pants down, look around
at me. I know that Iam normally the one that gets that gets
(09:37):
tagged with the elder abuse for theopening segment. I have never done the
diabolical I have never dropped the diabolicalmental gymnastics that Tim Kates puts Vic through.
This is my fault. Well, you know what I think. You
know what I think is happening. And I can vouch for this because this
happened today. There's a thousand thingshappening at once. Right. He's trying
(10:00):
to communicate with Don McLain in Chicago, trying to make sure Dino Ebel,
who's a very busy man, cando his interview with us. Between all
the workouts he does with the playerson the field, Freddie Freeman, Wooki
Betts and all that. Kates's spinningplates, and in those moments he gets
a text from Vic that's like,com Reck's open you all here, I
come, y'all. You know onthe heels of yesterday where Vic almost made
(10:22):
it so one of the hosts couldn'tget on the show, I think these
things mount in frustration with them.Now. I was just ready to start
the show and promote the stuff wehave and lament that the Dodgers were terrible
last night and one, two, three, go Trojans and get to and
get to David Messe in the nextsegment and talk about Bronnie at the combine
(10:45):
or whatever it is today and rightin the middle where I'm trying to find
the frogman stuff and I'm not evensupposed to be here today, like Dante
Hicks, I got Tim and myhere saying Vic lyede, he lied,
and maybe Vic is a crime,an habitual liar when it comes to trying
to come on the show. Itis his air, it is his oxygen.
(11:05):
You know. So should we openthe if you guys want to go
ahead, that's fine. Do youwant to open up? It's your bad
guy. I didn't say any ofthat, guy. I said that if
I'm the one that gets tagged withelder abuse, I do believe Vic.
I can understand that his mind getstwisted into a pretzel as to trying to
figure out if he's coming on orif he's not. He's going to get
(11:28):
dated out and he's going to belet into prison out of person. Think
what happens is this Vic has openlytried to manipulate Ronnie and Kate's against each
other as far as coming on.For years, he doesn't come here.
Uh so they get that they theycross the streams. They've become disillusioned.
I mean, you understand how thecome on, Matt. It's not like
(11:48):
I have to explain something to youthat you don't already know. They frustrated
these men. Yeah, frustration wasfrustrated incorporated, no doubt. And by
day I mean Vic, Yeah, and and his controllers. Now Vic,
uh, are we going to openup the gate here and let the cracking
out for a moment? If Vicwants to connect to the comrades, and
(12:09):
I know he's listening because I've gotOh, he's not connected current. I've
gotten three text messages from the lastthree, so he's currently not connected.
Is that what you're telling me?He's not connected to the comrace? Ronnie
might correct, he's not connected. He is not connected, but he probably
will be in about three to stillnot connected, Vic text, Well,
he's on delay. Remember he's listeningto us on de lay because he's not
(12:31):
connected. So it's going to takehim a next And now does he know
that I am connected to the portalin which he was castigated for not connecting
to yesterday. No, no,he doesn't. He did text me,
made my mistake, humbly apologize.I presume suspension was over. Well,
suspension is over, but you're stillin the hole. He was suspending segment
(12:54):
yesterday though for a minute. Wellhe got stuffed into the hole and I
loved it. Here's my favorite thingthat in the history of the show.
And I don't really know what hewants to talk about today. I don't.
I don't really know what what itwas. Shoe al TONI day out
there, that's right, Shoe alTani went out there and did the and
(13:16):
did the city council BS. Theygive you the the certificate that you're never
going to use or put up.I wonder if he got a bobblehead from
last night too. I'm sure thathe did. Of course he had a
gun one, right, I wouldhope, so, I would hope he
did. You guys want to openthe vault? All right? We have
to turn both keys at once.Now. It's like it's like a nuclear
It's like a nuclear silo. Turnthe key, Vic, Vic, are
(13:43):
you there? I'm free feeling youguys? Hello, Vic, how are
you listen? I want to apologizefor all the confusion in the case did
you lie or not? I mean, I texted Tim earlier today and I
mistakenly thought I was supposed to callon the hotline. But it was my
(14:05):
mistaken I looking at his phone rightnow and just shrugging his shoulders, like,
give you that idea. I presumethe suspension was over. It is
so I presumed that was going tobe on today. But you told Ron
the suspension is over. But noone told you you were coming on.
You just you just made that partof it up. I took it for
(14:26):
granted. Thus when I when Iwhen the suspension uh faded the way and
I was a free man, Ithought I was. I was open to
call, but you did tell Butyou did tell a little bit of a
fable, A fable I totally totallytwisted it. Okay, So I humbly
(14:48):
apologize. You don't have to,I mean, that's fine. You just
confused how you could have come tothat conclusion. It's very odd since Tim
didn't reply. We've opened the stalogVIC and you're on, and we're happy
that you're here, So why don'tyou tell us what you're excited about today?
I would assume that it's the showhal Tani Day, May seventeenth,
the Key to the City, thewhole deal. Yes, I am totally
(15:13):
exhilarated that it is show hal tanyDay May seventeenth today. And do you
think anybody will ever mention that it'sshow hal tany Day ever again after today?
Yes, because it's been proclaimed bythe city Council that every May seventeenth,
when o Tani wears a dodgy uniform, will be show hal tany Day.
I still know there's been Shaquille O'NealDay. Do you know what Kobe
(15:33):
Bryant Day is? Manny Ramirez Dayis still my favorite. That's the day
we all beat up on an oldertravel secretary. I mean, Vic,
this is an easy one. Doyou know what Kobe Bryant Day is in
Los Angeles? I'm not sure it'sAugust twenty fourth, and yet even that
(15:54):
people don't know. But that wasdesignated Kobe Bryant Day with a certificate and
a gold key out about day.We don't celebrate that one anymore, and
after all, he's done for us, right there was that one. January
twenty second is forever known as JustinTurner Day. In Los Angeles, and
(16:15):
we forgot it almost immediately. Noone will ever discuss this again. Were
we celebrate in the moment? Seeyou lied about that. We just asked
you if you'll remember that it's shoHeo Tani day moving forward, and you
said, of course, well,it's this is this is his first,
his first show hal Tony Day.And they didn't have on an Anaheim for
(16:37):
him or anything. I don't believe. I don't. I don't know if
the City Council of Anaheim proclaimed itshow hal Tony Day. This is a
great one. You're ready for thisone, be sure? The Los Angeles
City Council announced Wednesday, November fourteenth, twenty twelve, has been declared Dwight
Howard Day a luminario. I'll neverforget that day. Never forget that day.
(17:07):
That's the day that you ask somebodyif you could see their meat,
your meat. I got a texthere that says text line brought to you
by your so called Toyota dealers. We make it easy, Vic lied,
let it go. We've all beencaught in a lie. Yeah, but
(17:30):
you know, right after you getcaught in a lie, it's really awkward.
And you've got to like distance yourselffrom the moment with time and right
now, like we're right in thatmoment that Vic got caught in a lie,
and that's incredibly embarrassing for all ofus. I got it twisted.
I apologize. I totally got ittwisted. Hey, I know some people
(17:52):
that were able to procure O Tawnybobbleheads. Were you one of those people
that or are you so detached fromthe world? Did you get one?
I know did not get one,but I'm so happy for everyone who did.
I'm very happy. There forty thousandbibbleheads doled out last night, and
the very rare gray road uniform Otaniwas was up, you know, on
(18:17):
eBay for close to five thousand thousandlast night, five thousand, five thousand.
And you know, there's only goingto be more Otani bobbleheads. So
if you got a bobblehead and youthink it's worth something, sell it right
now, because there's like there's theObi Otani one Kenobi and like twenty other
Angels bibbleheads that we're all available herein southern California for like the last six
(18:40):
years. But whatever, people, and there will be a second O Tani
bubblehead nice year in August. Wereyou on a Were you at Mannywood David
when they did that for Elma Yako? I was not No. Ninety nine.
(19:02):
I'm on Yako. Yeah, Sohere is one. I was trying
to figure out if it's alb Youknow, sometimes it's like, oh,
it's up for five thousand dollars,now it's five g's. I got one
at sixteen hundred and twenty five dollarswith fifty six bids. That is a
live auction right now. Many ofthem are like five grand, buy it
now. Yeah, the five grandis by it now. But if you
want to go fight it out withpeople, this is an actual fight it
(19:23):
out. If you're two days, you're powered and you just want to if
you just want to throw money atit cold, I wouldn't do it right
now. I wouldn't do it ifI were you. All right, Vic,
is there anything else you have toadd before we say goodbye? I
just want to to say that thisDodger's back to back losses are an aberration.
(19:47):
The big maple tonight, James Paxsonundefeated is going to have a solid
outing. The bullpen will be airtight, and this two game funk will
be a memory. Okay, thankyou, Vic, and have a great
weekend. Vic. Good luck, good that o Tony Bobblehead, thank you
for freeing me again. Put himback. That's somebody show you put him
(20:10):
back. Cut the music, closethe door, mid mid sentence. God,
I love doing that. By theway, we got some moving around
with the Dodgers twenty six man roster. They made a trade earlier with the
Guardians, but looks like the Dodgerscould be sending some guys down to Okay
see and bringing some guys up.David Vassi, he's gonna have more than
(20:32):
a few minutes. Beautiful man.Who's going back? I don't know.
I can tell you it's not Piesbecause he's starting tonight. No, no,
(21:00):
David vesse naxt go until six o'clockDodgers baseball against the Reds. After
getting shut out in front of arecord crowd last night, show, Hey
Show, Hey Otani, Bibblehead nightrough go for Tyler Glass now no offensive
support. Try to shake it alloff tonight at seven to ten pm out
(21:22):
at Dodger Stadium. Between now andthen, we got a lot going on.
Do you know Ebel third base coachfor the Dodgers going to join us
on the show. Don McClain wrappingup everything at the Combine in Chicago.
It ended today. They'll be flyingback and we'll catch up with him,
kind of get a wrap up onBronnie and adem Bona and Isaiah Kyllier.
All out there s c UCLA playerstrying to make their way to the NBA.
(21:45):
So busy show between now and six, and we have tickets to give
away. Matt, don't forget youwould be remiss. I would be remissed
those Arizona Diamondbacks Dodgers tickets that wehave to give way on Monday. And
this Monday coming up, when Mattand I take to the air, we
(22:07):
will be giving away ten Las Vegastrips in ten days. Listen for your
chance to live in luxury this summerat Fountain Blue, Las Vegas, a
new luxury resort in Las Vegas,a strip including a two nights stay dying
pool side at the Oasis Pulled Deck, and get two tickets to a show
at Blue Live Theater. Yes,Kates, I was asked this question earlier
today, and I was going toask you guys off the air, but
(22:29):
we wait for David to figure outthe roster moves that are happening right now.
I'll just ask you on the airlast night, was Otani Bobblehead number
one? There is a second giveawayafter the All Star break. I believe
any interest in being out there broadcastinglives if it's during the week. I
haven't looked to see what day itis exactly, as long as we can
get in before everybody else, whichwe do. So yeah, I mean,
yeah, you start a three. Is there is there an alternate motive
(22:55):
for you there? Kates, Well, I mean I don't think we're gonna
get a Tani bibbleheads are going forYeah, mat saying hey, let's wait
at there is a show. Letme see if I can score one of
these things and pocket a cool fifteenhundred. You'd be wrong to think that
the guy that does the EO noocha commercials on our air doesn't have his
own in roads that don't even involvehim being at the stadium. Interesting see
(23:21):
see. So I'll take that asa yes. Then for Otani Bobblehead number
two, Yeah, it's Timing's reversecommute for us. That's right time for
David Vase home the Dodgers with aninside look at the Dodgers. This is
(23:41):
the Vassie Report with David Vasse.Roster moves abound in. David Vase is
out and about at Donger Stadium,a little bit of a lull with the
offense the last couple of games.Elie de la Cruz is out there burning
the Dodgers up like gonorrhea, joiningus right now, I'm sorry, burning
(24:02):
them up like what they got burned. They burned, got the club every
time that guy takes takes to thebase path, just got it, burns
when they pee the so counts areyou a dealer? Celebrity? Online?
It is MLB Networks and uh spectrumof sports net But right here on a
seventy, he's our number one guy, David Vasse, what's cracking, Dave?
(24:22):
Everything's great, guys. Yeah,Petro's a few different faces are in
the Dodger clubhouse. Yeah, Ijust want to let your dad know James
Outman no longer has a locker inthe Dodger clubhouse right now. And why
he's such a bad guy? Whywhy do you have to take such pleasure
in it? Oh, I'm justletting you know. Petro's I'm trying to
(24:48):
brace you and your family. Thatdidn't sound very bracing. So who's up,
who's down? Well, Miguel Vargasis here as well, and tonight's
starting lineup does not have Max Munseyin it against a right hander where he
usually would be in the starting lineup, So you have to wonder if there's
(25:10):
something going on with Max Munsey. And that's the reason why Miguel Vargas is
here because Jason Hayward is in thestarting lineup, so he's activated, and
more than likely Outman is the exchangeplayer with Hayward and Miguel Vargas may be
here because Max Munsey is not inthe starting lineup. So nothing's been made
official yet, so I'll have towait and see, but that seems to
(25:33):
be the case considering Kik again isstarting at third base against the writing So
we know Outman based on the locker, you got Vargas getting called up,
you have Hayward returning that would leadand like you said, Dave, is
that kind of what you're operating under. You think that maybe there is something
that Munsey would be a guy thathas taken off for health concerns, and
(25:55):
that's what that corresponding move would beyeah, because if you saw the dugout
last night, Max Munsey was inno way going to be used. He
had the warm up jacket on allnight long. There were one or two
opportunities where he could have been usedas a tin hitter, and that was
not the case. And then againtonight against Frankie Montaz, a hard throwing
(26:15):
right hander, where Monsey would bein there, he's not in the starting
lineup. Keik Hernandez is starting toget third base, so you would have
to presume that Miguel Vargas is herefor an unspecified injury to Max Munsey.
You know, I know how muchyou love Miguel Argus, Dave. You'd
love to see him back here withthe big league club. How has he
(26:37):
been do you know how he's beendoing? Like is this an earned promotion
or like you said, yeah, yeah, it's an earned promotion. He's
hitting two ninety eight in the intriple A, he has eight home runs,
his ops is over a thousand,So this is an earned promotion.
And really this may be the crossroadsof his Dodger career. This is a
golden opportunity for him. And let'ssee what he does with it. The
(27:00):
one and only David vass is ourguest. Nobody brings it harder than Mass
with all that hardcore information. Andhe is bathing, bathing in the schadenfreud
of Matt as you always say ofJames Outman, my father's favorite player.
You're being sent down, very unkind, Dave, very I hope. I
hope you feel good, Dave, hope it makes you feel great. Ever
(27:22):
well, I feel like blood's onyour hands ever since you took that selfie
in the brought over to take itwith Pilot. You brought him over to
take you brought him to Petros. Not the first, and he won't be
the last, Okay, David?A certain is it that the Dodgers can't
hit right now at the airport? No, they're testing, uh some recorded
(27:48):
uh introduction for somebody. I'm onthe field at Dodgers Stadium where Reggie Reggie
Bush is going to throw out thefirst pitch tonight, Petros, Will you
be catching that first pitch tonight?Uh? You mean like catching it,
like watching it on TV? No? Catching it behind the plate? No
(28:11):
sent down for me. I know, I'm sorry. That just that's the
facts, all right, Leggie Bushhas thrown out the ceremonial first pitch tonight.
It's very exciting. I'm being thatbeautiful Travis Matthew. I would assume
I assumed wearing it, and I'lllook forward to when his I got my
heisman back. Victory lap Is fizzledout. But Dave, what about the
(28:33):
bats? They are consado? Isit a concern a little bit? A
little bit because for the first timesince twenty eighteen, the Dodgers have gone
back to back games without an extrabase hit, and they're built on slug
Mookie Bets has cooled off a littlebit. They need him to get going
again. Freddie Freeman, you know, people keep asking me what's going on
(28:56):
with him, But if you lookat Freddy's career, he's been around two
ninety three hundred. The last twoyears with the Dodgers have been extraordinarily good
seasons for him. So they justneed a little bit more consistency from Freddie
and Mookie Betts. H Dave, going back to last night, I know
you're you're working, so you're notpaying attention to what's going on in the
(29:18):
in the crowd, but record settingcrowd at Dodger stadium. Did you happen
to find yourself an earshot or didyou have a sight line on anyone that
got one of the Otani in agray jersey bobbleheads? And how much were
they freaking out? I was not. I never encountered anybody that got a
gray Otani bobblehead. We had afew people call the show last night that
(29:40):
did get a bobblehead, but theywere just the standard home bobbleheads. But
I'm not sure if you guys haveseen this. I was tracking it during
the game. Not sure where it'sat right now, but thirteen hundred and
thirty three dollars plus shipping and handlingfor a gray Otani bobblehead from last night,
that's what it was going for. That's a bargain. Yeah, I
(30:03):
mean, I'm not sure why abobblehead plastic with a spring on top would
oh sure that much money? Yeah, I know, like there was a
feeding frenzy here at Dodger Stadium. You guys saw the lines on social media
how long they were to try tobe one of their first forty thousand fans.
It was the largest crowd not onlyin baseball this season, but the
(30:26):
largest regular season crowd at Dodgers Stadiumsince twenty nineteen. So all those Otani
Angel bobbleheads are worth like twenty fivebucks. Now there's like twenty of them.
What right, Yeah, Mark Goubazaw'syou know, trust fund has gone
down considerably. Oh, Dave, cruelty day. He's got to move to
(30:47):
Valencia. Gee over, Oh God, he's got to go to awesome town.
Hey, I will make this prediction, Dave. You bet you're ass
The Dodgers are right now having fifteenhundred different colored uniform arm Joe I Otani
bobble heads made for that second giveawayas well. I don't know there's any
question about it. I have afeeling I cannot reveal, but there's a
(31:08):
prototype floating around and if that's thebabblehead, the city will explode. What
about the city Connect? City exploded? Colored City Connect. It's like Caesar
Romero had a party on that CityConnection. All right, Dave, have
a great night at Dodger Stadium.Enjoy yourself, and thanks for doing it.
(31:33):
Thank you guys, have a greatweekend. Thanks thanks for being so
nice to my elderly father. Dave. Hey, it's both ends of the
spectrum. Though he makes fun ofyour son and he makes fun of your
father. Yea luck Monsey, he'sout. God, I don't have a
favorite player. Dave would probably killhim, but poisoned him with bleach.
(31:55):
That second Otani Bibblehead Night is Augusttwenty eighth. August twenty eighth, and
that is a Wednesday. Well Godwilling will be on the air then,
if Don Martin has anything to sayabout it will probably be on for nine
hours. We'll be right back withthe Top Story of the Day. Stay
(32:15):
with us on this Frogman Friday.Thank you for listening everybody on this frog
Man Friday. We appreciate you.We appreciate you listening and streaming live on
the iHeartRadio app and following us onthe iHeartRadio app as well. We got
tickets to give away for Dodgers dbas on Monday, so we'll be giving
(32:37):
those away tonight at some point. But right now it is time for the
Top Story of the Day, TopStory of Day. Well p I'm excited
to catch up with Don mcclaim becauseit's very hard for me to make it.
Next hour. A couple of things, one, as is evidenced by
(33:00):
the opening segment of the show.We don't like being lied to, and
you know whatever, we don't likebeing from Ronnie and Kate's earlier Yeah,
don't lie to us media. Youwant to do the biting of Clutch sports,
fine, get it. You gotto. You gotta take care of
the people that take care of youwhen it comes to sources and give you
(33:20):
the breaking news that allow your Twitterfeed to have the number of followers,
Instagram, TikTok, all of thatstuff. I get it. It's your
job. Your job is to isto break news and to have sources that'll
give you stuff. Clutch Sports ishuge. They got a bunch of clients.
They leak stuff to you. ButI don't like. I can't that
the spread on Brownie James now thatthe combine has ended is so wide.
(33:44):
I truly can't quite figure out whatthe hell we're supposed to take away from
it. Like, I don't knowif they're lying to us to set us
up for a The Lakers are sotheir heads are so far up lebron James
ass that they are trying to getall of these media folks to talk about
(34:06):
Bronni going in the first round, going in the top twenty, maybe even
be a lot of replayer, likethe Damian Lillard comments that we're making the
rounds that like the Lakers are goingto take them with seventeen, Like,
is that what I'm supposed to extract? Situation seems to have mutated considerably.
I've got the Utah Jazz with thefirst pick of the second round as a
(34:31):
perfect landing spot. According to multipledifferent tweets and stories that we're posted,
that Danny Ainge is incredibly enamored withBronnie, that he has always loved smart
players, that he thinks the ceilingis high, and believes if he takes
him at thirty two that lebron verywell could end up coming to Utah.
They have the cap space to payhim a bunch of money for a year.
(34:52):
There's that story. And then Igo over to my favorite, well
I shouldn't say my favorite, butlike, if we're going to talk to
Don and we're going to ask himabout the draft, I always go to
NBA draft dot Net. They updatetheir mock drafts regularly. They seem to
have good intel. They cite sourcesas to why they have certain players sitting
(35:14):
in certain slots. Bronnie James isnot in the top sixty. They don't
even have him getting drafted. SoI've got Twitter feeds with hundreds of thousands
of followers in ESPN behind it.I've got the La Times and their national
NBA writer penning flattering stories about BronnieJames and what a great combine it was,
(35:36):
and how all the gms stuck arounduntil he was the second to last
player that went through those drills andthe shooting drills and the agility drills,
and everybody was there. It's notjust a media creation that all the gms
were there from all thirty teams. And then I pulled this up and his
name isn't even on here. Iguess not at thirty two. Well,
Don was there, not at twenty. We'll ask him about it. So
(35:57):
he's either going to go in thelottery or he's not going at all.
That's what it looks like. It'skind of again, and that's where you
know, don't lie to us.I don't like being lied to. So
at this point I have no ideawhat I'm supposed to take away from his
time in Chicago, and certainly Donwill give us more clarity on that.
The second part is just hire JJReddick already just freaking hire him. I
(36:21):
don't. This is the same dealwhere we now have more and more evidence
that appears as though that is goingto be the case that JJ is a
brilliant analytical mind, keep floating outtrial balloons to try to make everybody okay
with it when they make the decision. Same thing as Brownie exactly. We
had a Shams Booja combined article todayand you have you know, after the
(36:45):
Eudonna's damage control, they had togo through about the side eye and the
skepticism that Lakers players would likely look. And this is something we can address
with Donna as well when he joinsus in the next hour. So don't
want to get too deep into it, but just hire him. If that
is again, if your head isso far up Lebron's ass that you've got
(37:05):
to hire a guy that has nevercoached beyond youth basketball for his son in
the city of New York on hiscoaching resume, but has done multiple podcasts,
television shows as an analyst. Andlook, Steve Kerr went from sitting
on you know as an analyst onTNT, but everybody recognized him as a
very bright basketball mind, someone whoplayed at a very high level, and
(37:30):
he ended up getting the Golden Stategig, so he gets the Yeah,
he gets the Phoenix front office gigbased off that, and then he gets
the coaching job. So fine, just do it. Yeah, we don't
need to go through this. MikeSkozhevsky is our consultant. Hey, Shams,
can you can you pen an articleabout how brilliant JJ Reddick's basketball analytical
(37:52):
mind is viewed through certain NBA scoutsand people that have had the opportunity to
play with him and assistant coaches haveto say this about how smart he was
and how he was a coach onthe floor. Just tire him. You're
the freaking Lakers. No it's not. It's Spins season, but you have
to spin it and waste your moneyon Mike Krzewski and waste all your media
bloviation favors. You got to spinit for a few months and then you
(38:15):
do it. Yeah, it's alreadybeen fun. Like we said, Frank
Vogel was fired the day after DarvinHam was fired. They had Mike Budenholzire.
Mike budenholes are hired two days later. We are in day fifteen today,
day fifteen or fourteen, either fourteenor fifteen today. And there is
no hurry. They're not playing agame. They don't need to recruit anyone.
(38:36):
There's not a draft tomorrow, there'sno free agency that's opened. So
I get it, but I justdon't need the repeated Lakers are going to
do their due diligence. Lakers aregonna this is going to be a long
process. They're going to really makesure they get the right person, and
it's not going to be a quickhire. And they are going to overturn
every rock and explore every avenue beforethey decide which one of the And there
(39:00):
are fans of Sam Cassel. JamesBarrego has got a lot of supporters out
there, but so does JJ Reddick. Now there's a lot of people out
there that believe JJ's the right guy. I don't believe it. So And
that was the Dan Waki article.By the way, the JJ Reddick is
very real. That was yesterday,Athletic today. I'm sure we'll get a
(39:21):
Yahoo story tomorrow. What happens isLebron and his team float out something that
is stupid, like Lebron Son playingfor the Lakers, or JJ Reddick becoming
the coach that no one's gonna likebecause he has a podcast with the guy
nobody likes already, Lebron James. They float this stuff out, everybody immediately
(39:42):
has the correct reaction, which iswhat a stupid idea, And then they
get all their people in the mediato very slowly and it builds a like
a sex act, to very slowlykind of pump you with lies. And
that's where we are right now.Yeah, slowly pumped. Yeah, this
is a good nugget. Before thecombine, Brownie wasn't even was in at
(40:05):
number ninety eight in ESPN's Top onehundred post combine. He was so impressive.
He has rocketed up the boards tofifty four, and who knows how
much higher he'll go after his individualvisits. Stuff fifty spots good stuff,
fifty spots on a three for oron a two for eight and a four
for ten outing in the two scrimmages. One of the great combines we've ever
(40:29):
seen of all time, no doubt. So it's lying season apparently, So
it's it's spin spin season. Yeah, it's we'll set we'll set them up.
You knock him down we'll spin itfor you. Lakers. Don't worry.
We got you. We got yourclutch spin city. Well, we'll
be back. I love smart players. Yeah, well he's smart. He's
(40:51):
just kind of got clearly has ahigh basketball IQ and they have to pump
the basketball IQ angle of it becausehe lost three inches right us, he's
six to one. Say what canwe pump up because he's not physically up
to snuff. Well, we couldtalk about his mind. Look, she's
got a great personality. And Ilove the people that are like, uh,
(41:15):
he's athletic. He is athletic. It's the NBA, it's not the
NFS to these days, it's nota one hundred yard field. It's every
single play. Most of them arenot athletic at all. You've got to
be athletic to even play in theleague. All right, we'll be back
with margareat Sports Talk, Dino Evil, Don McLean still to come.
