out. Yeah, God bless you. Let's do it. Dodgers Reads Tomorrow
Gallpin Motors Broadcas Booth four to tenpm. That means today three until seven,
four hours of the Petros and MoneyShow. Tim Kates will have off
(01:07):
night Dodger Talk from seven until eight, and then tomorrow we'll on a super
flexpe one to three pm. Becauseof the East Coast swing. The Dodgers
are going on a really, really, really long road trip and it's one
of the longest road trips they've everbeen on. Maybe in Dodger history,
maybe before the jet age, theywere on some longer trips, like when
(01:29):
they used to take a train.Yeah, load up my trunk, sweetheart,
because I'm hitting the Rile. Itook a trip on a train,
and I thought about you. Theygot three at Cincy, three at the
Mets, three home games versus theRockies, three at Phillies, three at
Yankees, six games in the Easterntime zone, three at home, six
(01:55):
more games in the Eastern time zone, twelve out of fifteen games in the
Eastern time Zone, with three homegames placed exactly in the middle. You
got delta bad hand Dodgers. I'venever seen that before. The Dodgers must
have gotten some other scheduling consolation fordoing this, because it's a real sacrifice.
Well, they did just have theirCalifornia run where it was Arizona,
(02:15):
San Diego, La La San Francisco, something along those lots. Yeah,
in Arizona and Arizonatal, California Wack, California East. You got that exchange
in the college program. You knowit's like California. So that is a
long trip and the Petros and MoneyShow will ride along with the length of
this trip. This has been scheduletalk, no time. There's never any
(02:40):
time, no time to study.I'll never get in schedule talk. And
Matt, we're still giving away thosehotel things. No, we're not well
tomorrow. Rogan and Rodney gave itaway today. You got pep whack.
We should have given it away today. You had an idea where you wanted
(03:01):
the tickets to give away today andyou're gonna give it to them to give
away tomorrow. But that's not gonnahappen. No, we're on one to
three tomorrow, Vic, They're ontwelve to one tomorrow. So we said,
why not we give it away todaybetween three and seven because we like
to reward our listeners with great prizes, like a two night's stay at the
funt In Blue in Las Vegas.Do you worry about these kind of scheduling
(03:23):
conflicts, VIC and things that happenin this way? Are you just more
concerned with whose com rex is openand we're gonna get on to do your
thing now. I'm more concerned aboutwhen the next giveaway of the funtin blue
Hotel well done. The two nightsstay beautiful pronunciation extravagant, extravagant, a
hotel on the Vegas Strip. Iknow Bob from Huntington Beach one today is
(03:46):
taking his is beautiful. We hada guy named Alan Win okay, and
Alan had a saucy young side piece. And we had a hipster og from
Attwater Villa's let win too. Soyou don't you cannot have to want out
bus with Bud easy on. Vic. Okay, you know I've had it.
It's not funny. It is funny. It's hilarious, right VIC.
(04:11):
It is a life cracks me up, it does. Go ahead and have
a laugh, you guys. Youguys cracked me up. You've been cracking
me up what twenty years now. You'd like to think everybody would see it
that way, Vic, But noteverybody sees it that way, Vic,
No, they don't. Not everybodyenjoys what we do. Not everybody thinks
we're the Bee's knees. Not everybodythinks we're on the cutting edge of great
sports. Talk like we'd like tosee ourselves great sports talk. God,
(04:34):
everybody sees us as the robust, mustachioed man like Stacy Keats, Mike Hammer
and the Mickey Spillane series. Apparentlythese people think there's some sort of professionals
when it comes to great sports talk, and they know what's best and they
know what moves the needle. WouldI dare critique them when they're reading their
sides. I'm just trying to pushthe show, trying to make sure we
do the right things. Think youare now vict The Dodgers lost two out
(04:58):
of three to the Snakes. Ohdisaster, A lot bums. A lot
of people are blaming oberrations, aberrations. Some blame you. Vic I said
it's wrong. I wish I couldhit well. What I wanted to ask
you, vic is what is yourhistory with reptiles? Do you have any
reptile history? Because uh, youknow you're a man of exotic taste.
Do you have any history with reptiles? Or do you ever own a snake?
(05:20):
Or were you attack by a snake? Come out of a tree when
you were in the micronees or anything? Have you eaten snake? Great question,
my brother, Bob, you knowwho lives in Florida. We know
he's been there for about forty yearsnow in Fort Lauderdale. But he was
young. When he was a youngreal estate agent, he used to make
forays into the real estate market, you know, in in Miami. And
(05:45):
he he mailed me an alligator backin the day where you can actually mail
alligator, live alligator, a livealligator through the US mail. I believe
might come after you for that thing. Was It was like in a bo
in a Manila envelope. Oh,I like it, inner office memo.
Open it up. Sarah came fromthe fifth floor, my mom, Sarah
(06:09):
bless her heart, opened it up, and just flushed the alligator down the
toilet. The sixties. This isback back in the day. And that's
how the DC Comics got Killer Krocliving in the sewers of Gotham exactly exactly
from gifts from Florida. You know, before those any regulations that you could
actually mail live alligators. What atime to be alive. Oh, it
(06:30):
was nuts. Now do you seethat as a little bit uncouth in today's
world? Vic, And under theparlance of our times, it wouldn't work
today. No, imagine what's goingthrough that gat the mail come traveling thousands
of miles. All you can sendnow in the mail is a powdery anthrax
and just hope it gets to theright person. And two hundred dollars in
(06:53):
free gift certificates for Factor meals andsend those through the male of these days.
I did have a pet turtle,Is that right? When I was
very young in the growing up inthe in New York City, a snapping
turtle. He didn't snap. Hewas a very mellow turtle. Do you
remember the name of the turtle. Was it Saul? I believe his name
(07:15):
is Brutus. Did you buy itin Chinatown? Brutus? Brutus didn't buy
it in Chinatown? I think itwas. It was an early birthday gift.
I think it was like six yearsold. I remember it's like the
turtle. I was really happy.I was joyful with the turtle. Want
They didn't have Nerve vortext footballs whenVic was growing up in the sixties.
(07:39):
My mistake, it was no nerfball. Now, Vic, Uh,
I'm gonna regret doing this, There'sno doubt about it. But I'd like
to ask you what you're chewing on. As far as your milk bone goes
today in the sports world of LosAngeles, Is there is there something you
want to get into with your allottedtime here with Matt money Smith and I
(08:00):
on the Pettersen Money Show right nowthat you think or see as pertinent,
honored and humbled. Of course,of course we all are, you know,
watching the NBA China. How areyou a compliment? And you're gonna
cut him off like that? Thankyou? Meg? You know we're down
(08:20):
to watching the last four teams inthe association and is it just me?
But look, every play, everyevery game comes down to a couple of
plays, you know. Last nightof course, you know, you know,
with Dallas's victory in Minnesota, whichwas which was stunning. It comes
down even with the Kyrie, youknow, getting fifteen of his thirty three
(08:41):
and the fourth rather luc up withhis fifteen of a thirty three. You
know, Kyrie in a great firsthalf, he had thirty. He's getting
here to Western It seems to meit's kind of getting all the weeds.
But I was watching bobs Burgers lastnight. I didn't watch the game,
So why did you watch the gameBob's Burgers on It was like a marathon
stretch. Bob's Burgers is on everynight. Not every night, Kyrie,
(09:05):
looking like a dude out of skidrow with his weird beard, is out
there cutting people up. You missthat. Kyri had a great first a
good couple episodes. I had anexcuse. I was like Mary Poppins.
They were made. They were makingmeat figures that were going rotten because they
didn't want to get rid of thembecause they looked so realistic. It is
(09:26):
a good episode of Bob's Burgers.I liked that. But you're a sports
talk guy, Matt, and you'reour hoops head. You're like our JJ
Reddick acking Leiott. What else isthere to talk about besides Brownie? We
have Thranny and Reddick. That's whatwe got to talk about. Three things
Thursday, we have Ryan Hollins andDon McClain today. Those are all hoop
related. Yes, you got alot of bron and you watch Bob's Burgers
and Kendrick Perkins can bitch and moanall he wants, but Ramona knows what
(09:50):
moves the needle. And watching LebronJames be a proud father in the stands
as his son makes a run tothe NBA is what moves the needle,
not Luka, Doncic, Kyrie. You're well, Kyrie's already got one,
Anthony Edwards, Jason Tatum perhaps winningtheir first ever NBA championship. No,
(10:13):
that isn't interesting, Ronnie. That'swhat's interesting that moves the needle here in
La ask she may she knows fellaswhat makes me not exactly right? You
could talk about Kyrie and Luca, you know, Anthony Edwards, the Lakers
and Clippers are out of it.But it just seems if they made you
(10:39):
know, a couple of plays Iplayed football with that guy's son that just
got socked infit. That's Alan Graff. Alan Graff was a center at USC
and the OJ years and he's actuallyhe's like a bit actor. He's like
a strong man kind of actor, and he well of an acting he would
(11:00):
get we're watching Mike Hammer and AlanGraff used to get other USC football players,
especially right out of school, workas extras and strong men and movies
and stuff like that. And therehe was playing one right there. But
Alan Graff, though he's a bitof an a hole, was also the
technical director for all the action onVarsity Blues the water boy, like when
(11:26):
football movies started having like those reallybrutal hits and they started to figure out
how to make it look more lesslike more impactful, less like Team Wolf.
That's really attributed to that guy thatStacy Keats was just knocking around that
gym oh got him with a goodjab right in the face, next his
head and he was in his grazewith a towel under this pretty sweet look.
(11:48):
Alan Graff I played football with hisson Derek Graff, who I've never
seen anybody drink Jaegermeister like it waswater. Yeah, it's a different there's
people like yeah, our neighborhood wasFred Morgan Derek Kraft to do it.
Also, uh he started a fewgames at USC on a line, but
amazingly he had a dropped foot andwas able to overcome that as that monastery.
(12:11):
Yes, but basic, okay, big, Sorry you were geeked about
Kyrie Luca versus Saga and no versus. Uh uh oh yeah, man and
go bird right saga and chat theygot by and cat what a pro want
chat? Yeah? I guess peoplein l aren't that excited about that.
(12:31):
No, it's hard to get Bronie. It's hard to get pumped up about
Bronnie Reddick red Wine, and nowthat the mixer out, Vic has got
to be desponded, like you're prettyit's crazy. But you know, I'm
you know, I'm a I'm ahoop, Nick. You know that I
love I love, I love hoop. So I will I will stare down
playoff games. So is it anyonebut the Celtics for you? Vic?
(12:52):
Is that how this works out?Absolute the Celtics. I am so hard
rooting for the Pacers, the Celtics, I had they had Game one.
You know, it's all call outblew it of course by not calling time
out or not, you know, not fouling the guy when you're up three.
And he's supposed to be one ofthe great coaches, he's not.
What how dare you say that heis one of the great coaches in it?
(13:15):
Not really not really a champion?Watch your tone point. I'm sorry,
Vick, I'm sorry, Vic,I respectfully disagree. He is one
of the few coaches in the leaguethat just won a championship. The Pacers
probably don't have the talent level thatwould suggest they should be in the Eastern
Conference Finals, yet here they areyou know, you can't talk to Vic
like that. It's different if you'renot. I totally disagree that the Pacers
(13:39):
do it. Couldn't disagree more money. When the Pacers have the talent,
man, they're very underrated that theyhave a lot of talent. As an
unfortunate, fortunate eleven seconds, that'sall they took it. They took it
to overtime Game one, and bossit. They can run and they can
ball with the Celtics. And I'mrooting hard for Indy because obviously, since
(14:01):
you said respect the hated Celtics,we don't want them another freaking banner.
I'll say, respectfully. Thank youof the hoop Heads as you describe yourself.
The hoop Nicks as you describe yourself, would classify Rick Carlisle as an
exceptional coach. Welcome to the yes, knows emotionally no and and sperm line
(14:24):
in your parents Jims carry Esque.Obviously carry was bald and looked like a
sperm for sure. The way youhandle them all back in the day was
unacceptable for me. You guys knowthat story. You know, Matt,
you just took it a step far. And I'm gonna read you another text
to mind your p's and q's.This is on the secret text. Does
what do we dot? You justsaid IoT and dogmatic and condescense. Not
(14:52):
true. You fools take pleasure intalking over Vic. It's gross. No
one gives an ass about your grabass. Is that from the actor?
No, it's from the eight ohfive yo Jian and West. Stop it.
(15:13):
You guys have been really rough onVIC lately. That's not true.
That's not true. Petros has beenreally rough on VIC. I have been
nothing but kind and welcome you. You've just been trying to shake something different
out of him. Listen, Iaccept your staccato. Do not shake you.
Do not accept it. You justdid it again. I accept your
staccato. Barson and I and II ponder them and I wanted to give
(15:33):
you what a different, little exotictake on the playoffs Again there was earlier
I said, you know, itcomes down to a couple of plays.
And what makes me, you know, so desponded over all local squads,
you know, Lakers Clippers? Isit just comes down to a couple plays?
Just you know, could Chris Paulbe the one the former point god
(15:54):
you know to allegedly you know hecould could be. He could be a
lake grow ob Obviously he's a warrior. But if he if he slips out
of the warrior's hands, would hebe a fascinating pick up by the Lakers
Christ in the back court? Yes, he would as a Laker. The
point God, well, I justgot this text. You guys tell Vic
(16:14):
to have different takes, He bringsit, and you squash him for that
too. This man can't win.I feel like we're just having a spirited
back and forth. Absolutely staccato bursts. That's what we do. It's great
sports talk. No, look atthis great sports talk. Did Vic just
say Rick c isn't a good coach? Who's a good coach? Brownie Rich,
(16:38):
Paul JJ Red Dick. Oh,but that is how you spell it.
Tom Thibodeau is an excellent coach.I love I love Fibbs Well bibbs
him, and I love t LouLuke couldn't win a series. He's been
incredibly disappointing with Paul Orgy cou Whiteleonard. Wouldn't you say, well, listen,
(17:00):
they were always banged up. Man. You need a full squad.
Well, he should do a betterjob of keeping him healthy, right,
I can't believe you flushed that alligatordown the toilet and down the Sarah Jacobs
immediately see you know it was likea what twelve inches twelve inch alligator in
a wooden box. Flushed it downthe toilet. This is not coming in
(17:22):
and it was alive. It wasalive, not for long. Back in
the day, people were shipping alligators, you know, from Miami to New
York. Back in the day.You know, it was very raw back
then. You should have given itto your sister. The peltiict could have
made a nice pair of alligators.Show nice transition, right, you like
that? All right? Vic?Well, I felt like that's this went
(17:45):
better than before. I don't wantyou to feel as if you've been beaten,
not never by the I love youguys, and you know, just
dropping the verse with you guys everyday, you know, swells my heart
with joy. Well, that's whatwe're here for. Ours as well,
is our only purpose. Thank you, Vic, and thank you for your
(18:07):
Now. I may or may nothave been contacted by a very famous actor
and admonished earlier today with colorful languageand sworn at John Stamos yelled at you,
No, I wouldn't take that call. If Stamos was calling, I
wouldn't pick up. You wouldn't pickup. Nope, you'd pick up,
I said, John Stamos, you'dpick up. No, No, I
(18:30):
wouldn't. What if your dad calledyou first and said John Stamos wanted your
number and he is calling you, then you would pick up. I'd be
less inclined to even pick up atthat point. In fact, that'd be
if you want to get a holdof me, Calling my dad is like
the worst thing you could do,because then I will go into my oppositional
defiance mode and just not do itto spite his What did do to you?
(18:52):
Stamos great by all accounts, agreat guy, brilliant actor. You
know what, if it was upto Stamos, we'd be dead and the
sports lodge would be sitting right here. You want that it was up to
Stainhos, you'd be one of thosehobos on Seal Beach that you step on
every morning when you walk out tothe beach. You're not gonna pack up
and get out of here before sunrise. It's up to me to make sure
(19:15):
you do. Stamos ain't your mate. Stamos ain't your mate. You remember
that he's not your friend. Hesays, who You're not gonna trust my
word? Says who you believe mewhat I told you? Elliott Gould called
me earlier and cussed me out. You're not gonna believe me about Stambos?
(19:37):
Hey, Elliott, what's going on? You? F and f? WHOA?
You your blood pressure down? Whatyou've treated Easy, what you've treated
Vic worse than OJ seems a littlehard. That's a Pad O'Brien quote.
What you did to me last nightwas worse than OJ. We'll be back
(19:57):
with Don McClain Forigno. Don McClainwith no not Loop Forigno. Don McClain
with the latest from the hoops world, our bff. Next on this we
just won't be defeated Thursday. That'syour some money A and five to seventy
(20:18):
LA Sports Live everywhere on the iHeartRadio. No Dodgers tonight, but Tim Kates
will have off day Dodger Talk atseven. Well, yesterday it was a
big pro day with all the GMSand all that for Don McClain and his
guys, all the people he workswith so hard in the springtime. Of
course, you know him as agreat announcer, basketball analyst. You see
(20:38):
him on Ballet Sports. You knowhim from his dominance of the Canejo Valley
and beyond the leading scorer in thehistory of UCLA basketball and the Pac twelve.
The next ass he kisses will bethe first on the SoCal Dealer Celebrity
Hotline for your Toyota. It isthe one and only Don McClain the baron
(21:00):
Box Canyon at where it's snake onTwitter? Hell on Don? How are
you going good? Pete? Howare you guys? We're good? How
did that thing go? Can youkind of explain what it is and how
it is when everybody comes to yourguys thing for your pro day, how
you set up the drills and tryto make these guys look good. We
(21:21):
always think about that that the guy, the Chinese guy shooting against Yeah,
yeah, he took that chair into well. It changed this year that
the players Association in the league agreedthat they were going to have it.
I believe it's three different locations, one in LA one in Chicago, and
I think one in either Florida orNew York. Instead of in the past,
(21:44):
all these player personnel people, GMSfront office people always had to go
to where each agent did their workout, so they'd be driving all over southern
California and then having to fly toVegas, and so they made it so
it's kind of a one stop shop. So yesterday, instead of having it
at our facility, which we've hadthe last however many years, we did
it at the Lakers practice facility, and so all thirty teams are there.
(22:08):
Depending upon which team, it's three, four, five people from their front
office and basically we put them through. You have an hour for each group.
We have six guys in the draftthis year, so we split it
up four at four in the firstgroup, two in the second group,
and you basically you can do whateveryou want, but we have what we
have. I'm not going to tellyou guys exactly what we do, but
(22:29):
we do, you know, basically, thirty five forty minutes of drills and
shooting and things that they've been doingwith me and us for the last six
weeks. We put them through thatand you know, it's over with.
And you know, it's interesting talkingto a lot of people yesterday that,
well's where does everyone agrees that withall the technology and all the scouting and
(22:52):
synergy and all this stuff that youcan watch and evaluate players. Why a
thirty to forty minute workout is importantbecause really, if you think about it,
it's not. But every agency doesit, So we do it,
and that's just kind of how itis right now. I did when I
was in Chicago for the Combine, there was a little bit of chatter about
(23:15):
maybe just eliminating the Pro Days altogetherbecause I think teams are what I just
said, They're like, why arewe coming all the way out here when
we've watched this kid for three orfour years, every minute of every game
he's played, we're going to bringhim in to our facility for a workout.
Why are we coming all the wayout to southern California to watch this
kid shoot for forty minutes. Sowe'll see what happens moving forward. But
(23:37):
that's what we did yesterday, andI thought our guys did great, and
so it's one of those things. If you're going to do it, you
have to do it. We mightas well do it well, and we
did. I remember, as we'retalking about Pro Day's past or our team
visits passed done, you would alwaystalk about challenging your guys, wanting them
to putting them in the most challengingsituations as possible as to trying to take
(24:00):
the easy road like shooting against afolding share in order to get them drafted
a high as possible. Is thatstill the case? Is it still you
know where some teams will tell youwhat they want you to do, and
agencies will say, now, we'renot doing two on twos with that guy,
They're only coming in for a visit. Or is everybody pretty much in
the competitive mold? Now, well, it depends on a lot, depends
(24:22):
on who you are and where you'reyou know, evaluated at in what range
you know, like we have readShepherd this year, he's at worst case,
a top ten pick, and usuallynot just him, but throughout time,
top ten picks don't do any livestuff. That being said, Reid's
been doing live stuff with us thewhole time he's been here, just because
part of what I do is,yes, I'm trying to get them drafted
(24:44):
as high as they can, butI'm also getting them ready for Summer League,
which starts a week after the draft, and so that's part of you
know, the thought in not onlyall our players, but it's specifically read
Shepherd, but Yeah, in termsof how I look at this pre draft
process, most of our guys aregoing to go to team work well,
(25:04):
they all are going to go toteam workouts. The NBA mandates that a
team can only bring in six playersat a time, So almost every team
brings in six players at a time. So what does that turn into a
lot of three on three? Andso we spend a lot of time doing
live stuff one on one, twoon two, three on three so that
(25:26):
they're ready for that. And youknow, you guys are kind of mocking
the whole chair thing, but it'sthe truth. Like, how are you
going to go do well in athree out live three on three with no
officials if you've been dribbling around achair for four weeks or five weeks or
six weeks, so chair can move. Yeah, that's kind of always been
our approach. We've had a lotof success with it, and that's why
we continue to do it. Theuh you mentioned Shephard. Don I know
(25:48):
this isn't necessarily all that exciting forpeople in LA, but it is.
I mean, you think about thepowerhouse that Kentucky has been for all those
years and cal is finally moving onCoach cal but sound like those those guys
like they didn't start, Shepherd andDillingham and all those dudes, and like
I saw a story where it said, you know, these Kentucky guys kind
of got to dig themselves a littlebit out of a hole because of how
they were played. Is that accurate? No? And I think it says
(26:14):
a lot about Dillingham and read thatthey that they were okay with not starting
and still played well. And youknow they're both going to be top ten
picks and so it didn't affect theirdraft status by coming off the bench.
If anything, I think it helpedit that they weren't prima donna's and you
know, sulking and pouting because theyweren't starting. They accepted their role and
they excelled in their role, andI think that's important. Also looking ahead,
(26:37):
is Red Shepherd and Rob Dillingham goingto start day one? Who knows?
Maybe they will, but probably not. And so if you've shown that
you can be effective coming off thebench, that's just one more thing that
you can add to your resume. But you know, in terms of Kentucky
and how they've operated, obviously youknow it didn't go well for them,
(26:59):
last year. As you mentioned,Cal's moving on, but Cal recruited at
such a high level. You stillgot guys that are going to be top
ten picks. And Rich Shepherd's aninteresting guy because he walks in the door.
He six too, He's a whiteguy, and you're like, wait
a second, this kid's a topten pick. And then you watch them
to start drill, and then youwatch him shoot, and then when you
really see his value as in likefive on five, I've never seen a
(27:21):
player. I've never had a playerin nineteen years of doing this that defensively
has as good a hands as hehas, poking balls away, getting in
passing lanes, blocking shots, andhis analytics and you know, you guys
know me. I'm not a biganalytics guy, but my ears perked up
when I heard this. His acrossthe board analytics deep analytics are the best.
(27:45):
I think it's either eight or ten. Are the best in the draft
in the last eight or ten years. Think about that. That's ridiculous.
His across the board analytics are thebest of any single player in the last
eight or ten drafts. That's shocking. The great Don McClain, as our
guest, dropping shocking news on thepeople of the city of the c U
(28:07):
Dodd Donna, are you surprised thatit's Dallas and not the Nuggets and it's
Minnesota. Kind of a tough dealfor US Nuggets types. I kind of
had a feeling. And obviously becauseI you know, I follow the Clippers
and have covered the Clippers for along time. To really celebrate the MAVs
that hard because they knocked the Clippersout of the playoffs. But I was
(28:30):
I was kind of thinking during thatseries. Now Kawi didn't play, we
know, and so we never knowwhat would have happened had he played.
But I was thinking that entire series, and I think Dallas is better than
people think, and it's kind ofproven out. And this Kyrie Irving man,
he's playing at a high, highlevel. But I think that the
additions they made of Gafford Washington werethe two pieces they needed to be much
(28:55):
better. And I don't think peoplewanted to believe it, but I think
they're believing it now that the havea chance to not only get to the
conference finals, but to win thewhole thing. The other side wasn't was
Tyrese Haliburton one of your guys,Don that was the COVID year. That's
right, that was the COVID year. What about the Pacers, I mean,
that's certainly more surprising than anybody else, I think, right. I
(29:17):
mean, you look at their recordand they're in the conference finals. But
my god, he's a hell ofa player. And I would assume most
people think Rick Carlisle's a hell ofa coach. And it pays off to
have a really good championship caliber coachwhen you've got a group like that.
I'll tell VIC, I think whenyou have one of the best players in
the league that has the leadership qualities, the intangibles, everything that Halliburton has,
(29:41):
no one has ever said, youknow, you guys know how much
I've talked about Donovan Mitchell and howhe's a better person than player and all
that. Halliburton's in that category, like everybody loves him. And I think
when your best player is that guy, I think it just takes over the
team and everybody wants to win.And he's obviously unselfish led the league in
and it's one of those things wherewhen you construct a roster, you don't
(30:04):
know exactly but to kind of havea feeling and I think they constructed that
roster around Halliburton, and they dida great job because it's finally starting there,
obviously, finally starting to put ittogether, and I feel like it's
one of those teams that like they'regonna be around here for the next four
or five six years. The oneand only Don McClain is our guest bringing
(30:26):
it hard. I saw that TrentMcClain was offered by Colorado State. Don
you know, got the new Belgianbrewery out there and the fat tire,
Yeah, they do. I'n't beento Fort Collins in quite some time,
Don, but it seems like thingsare going great for your for your youngest.
Yeah, he's finally healthy. Hebroke his hand in the spring.
(30:48):
I don't know if I told youguys that, but he got back.
He got back like a week beforethey went to Wichita last weekend, and
it was the first live period, and so he had been working though.
You know, when you have ahand, you can still do stuff with
your legs, and so he wasdoing stuff, but a little rusty.
But I think people have seen theimprovement from last year to this year in
(31:08):
terms of how well, how it'smore, how it's he's moving better and
you know, doing more things onthe court. He's always been able to
shoot, but so I think they'restarting to see his improvement and that he's
still not really there yet. He'she's not a holdback like a lot of
these kids, and so he's ofage and maturity wise, he's not really
(31:29):
there yet. So I think Ithink some of these coaches are seeing what
could be here the next year ortwo. And yeah, he's starting to
get some interest, which is good. How is that? How is that
process? We always hear the youknow, the the negative side of it
with the you know, just thetransfer portal and all of that. How's
it been. It's been good.I mean, I I think I've left
(31:51):
it up to Trent, you know. I think it's important that I'm not
influential in that I will help himwhen it comes down to it, in
you know, examining what the situationsare and what might be best for him.
But it's kind of early in therecruiting process, and so a few
coaches have called me, but forthe most part, they've just been reaching
out to him. And I toldhim, you need to be you need
to be mature enough to handle itnow and start relationships with some of these
(32:15):
coaches, and the farther goes along. I'm sure it will narrow down and
we'll start to really think about itand talk about it and try and make
the best decision we can. Yougot to get on that where at Snake
Twitter right and start saying Trent's betterthan all these guys in the NBA right
now, all these clowns. We'llstop short of that. Yeah, speaking
(32:36):
to that, Don and this couldset me up to maybe alter the three
things. Thursday coming up in lessthan an hour. You ever have a
pro day where like family or friendsare in the stands while you're going,
while the players going through the workout, and when they make shots they cheer
you. Not at Pro Day.But we have parents. I think I
(33:00):
told you guys we now we callthem ANIL players, but we have We
have six ANIL guys in here thisweek, and obviously a lot of their
parents come with them. And what'sinteresting is you know they they've heard about
what I do and what we dohere and in the value of it and
the competition and the environment I createand how it starts the process of them
(33:22):
and learning how to play faster andplay with more physical all that stuff that
we do, and the parents stillon the sideline, sitting there watching.
We'll be coaching, trying to coachtheir kid while they're going through our thing
perfect. It's like, well,if you if you're going to coach them,
why are you even here? Andso it's part of It's just part
of it. It doesn't bother me. But I just find it interesting that
(33:45):
you paid to come out here,You're paying all this money to be here,
but yet you're still trying to coachyour kid from the sideline. I
just think that's funny. One voice, one voice, their one voice.
How many times are going to passa boy before we shoot it? Four?
Thank you, Don, and greatstuff is always in. Congrats on
(34:06):
the rams and cam the ram. That's wonderful stuff. As it keeps out,
we'll talk soon, great Don McLeanand we'll be back with reaction.
Still got n F one report today. Ryan Hollins is going to come on.
That's good. That keeps three thingsThursday intact, something that I thought
seemed like it was a bit ofan outlier. You're gonna call him.
(34:29):
I'm just an angry man. I'mjust an angry man. That wishes nothing
but failure on some kid. Ohlook, they fired the officer that besst
with Scheffler. Officer Gillis has beenlet go by the Louisville PD. Sounds
like Gillis embellish the story a littlebit about the riding on the hood.
One morning you think you're on trafficdetail. The next day you're fired,
(34:51):
and the whole country is celebrated. To go to the hospital, say you
got back in leg pain because thisdude's worth a couple hundred million bucks.
The next thing you know, there'sa that's not over. You may have
turned your body cam off, butyeah there's a pole. Can I don't
see what's going on in his legsarea? Though, like last Sweet James
about this, he has a case. Oh yeah, Gillis has a case.
We'll be back as the Petrosen MoneyShow continues on the radio on AM
(35:15):
FI seventy LA Sports Pig taking itdown McLean David Vasse will join us at
the back end of next hour. The Dodgers, on a roady no game
today snapped their thirteen games in thirteendays streak with well a dispiriting loss,
(35:36):
terrible Arizona Diamondbacks and you can talkto ten Kate's about it tonight from seven
to eight pm. Calls for apanic button not being heated yet, but
it's close. Calls are being madefor a panic button. This glass Now
is not what he was made outto be. Well last night, glass
Now's taking on a guy with aseven plus ERA and that guy comes out
(35:57):
and deals if glass Now gets hisboob scooped and feels like we misled people,
scooped it, scooped it, it'sterrible feeling to feel like you've misled
your listeners. All right, Matt, brought to you by Toyota and your
Southern California Toyota deal brought to youby your so called Toyota dealers. We
make it easy. What you twohose due to our senile elder, day
(36:19):
in and day out, is whatthat officer fantasized, what Scheffler did to
him. Body cam on Victor Brickwould show you slamming him into the water
like that Orca in New Zealand andMatt Smith dragging his saggy sack all over
vis Carcass. That's just not true. We celebrate Vic every day. You
(36:42):
heard him earlier. He loves it. Staccato. He doesn't like Stacado's sports
debate is what he called it.He's unhappy with the way he's been treated,
and he's complained to mutual friends ofours that feel as if they wheeled
influence over us at Great Sports Time. Oh that's their first mistake. I
was taking apart. I eat sportstalk. Not true. Matt was the
(37:04):
one who ripped Vic a new kolofor the browny underdog take. I believe
I did. Yes, Matt wasthe one. I believe I did not
like that take. It was youthat takes dunk. It was you justin
Brownie's an underdog was not okay? That had to be put in check.
Are we not allowed to have aspirited debate in our opening segment when Vic
comes with sports hot sports sermons likethat, not after all he's been through,
(37:30):
He's the real underdog. I gotshamed. I'm starting to realize your
elder abuse against Vic is your viagra. You can't get it up for Great
Sports Talk otherwise, you know,I gotta be honest. It's just dead
honest to me, sometimes not everytime. To me, it's kind of
the opposite. It's like getting yourpuzzo going getting ready, and then Vic
(37:54):
comes on and it's a punch tothe growing and not a sexy one.
So you're saying it, he's nota dominatrix punch. Hey, I want
you to put on these four inchheels and walk on my chest. It's
not like that I need something extra. It's not like I need something extra,
babe. No, it's not likethat. And then I feel like,
you know, I'm starting the showin quicksands sometimes and I become resentful
(38:15):
and I shouldn't do that. Ineed to control myself and rectify my behavior.
Pe tel Vic that CP three tothe Lakers is about ten years too
late. David Stern would be rollingover in his grave if CP three went
to the Lakers, because he alreadystopped at once from happening. David Stern
(38:36):
will not stop it this time.He will not stop. He will not
be on the track when the traincomes through this time. How do you
know? How do you know whatDavid Stern will or won't do just because
he's not the commissioner anymore. You'reright, You're right. I really don't
know. I'm sorry, You're right. I stand correct. Did Vic has
(39:01):
become the kids knocking? On thedoor a few minutes after things get going
full stop? Oh full stop? Why is mom screaming? She hurt her
knee? Full stop? Full stop? Full stop? That's my truth,
full stop. So it's uh,look where We're still trying to figure it
(39:23):
out. But I thought today wasnot we've been treating what I told Kates
that we were reprimanded by a powerfulfriend for our treatment of Vic the brick.
Kates's reaction was to cancel Vic forever, to expel Vic from school.
Now you're happy like a protester. Why don't you call Vic now? And
(39:43):
he likes the way this turned out, and I had to simmer Kates down.
I had to simmer down now withKate's and tell him, no,
no, no, no, it'sokay. Am I wrong Kates? Or
are you still working on technical problems? No? Technical problems are good guys.
You're absolutely right, Petros. Butthat's how I react everything. Oh
yeah, you're dead to me?Then, huh? Just ask Dan Wiki,
(40:04):
Huh who's who? What exactly? He's he made it into three things
Thursday today? Oh did he?Yes? He penned a piece oh boy
about Bron's presence. Well, Iheard about it it's present to piece about
the presence of bron forty minute interviewtoday on Rogan and Rock. Is that
what it was? I don't know. I mean everyone's got a piece of
three things. Thursday, DP hadCharles Barkley on. He dropped a pretty
(40:27):
sweet television production nugget on the DPshow this morning. I want to do
better when it comes to VIC.I like to think I do do better
when it comes to VIC. You, however, what see now? This
is not cool? Are stuck inyour aggressive, angry way. This is
why united, we stand, divided, we fall is not does not apply
here. What's good for the hiveis good for the bee. Good for
(40:52):
the hive, it's good for thebee. We'll be back with you the
song of the day. I thoughtthings worked out better with VIC today.
At least I thought, Kates,I need something from the Valley Girls soundtrack
for the number of the day, maybe like a nice little Eyes of the
(41:12):
Stranger. Let's just play Valley Girl. Could play that too. Here,
you're right. Look at this. This says, yeah, you're not the
boss of Stern. You're right,I'm not exactly right. Let him make
the choice. And then this onesays and this helps me because I'm stupid
and I need help. From thetext, Stern is dead, Pete what
(41:32):
thanks? Well that changes things. We'll be back with more great sports talk.
Thank you for sports talk, thankyou for caring, thank you for
being a friend.
