the social media. H A lotof the time, You guys say tell

him there. Oh no, no, I don't care to argue with you.
(02:21):
F you get it, shut yourhole. You getting social media is
easier than me giving you my phonenumber. Die. I see the tortured
soul that sits across for me everyday as you attack him textually. And
we're thinking about you. We're thinkingabout you, ups, guys, Yes
we are. We don't want tolose too many lists. No, it's
(02:43):
time for the final hour. Funfact, it's fun in effects. Yeah,
we're three. You know I justsaid. I even started yelling f
you at that listener or you know, that imaginary listener, and then I
was like, oh god, wejust lost a listener to murder. Maybe
we better we appreciate and love allof you, and maybe if it wasn't
for our show, that listener wouldstill be alive. That's the part that
I said to think that, Ihate to think that. I feel like
(03:06):
it's appointment listening. You know, what could you do nineteen fifty three salad
days? Oh, Matt, Imean, if you weren't a communist,
it's a great time to be inAmerica. I'm happy you said that,
because if you were a communist, you were dealing with the death of Joseph
Stalin and they were unha blessed withthe death of Joseph. Some of the
comedies out here in la you'd beshocked to know were unhappy. You know,
(03:30):
it's not this good guy, youknow, kill thirty forty million people.
It's not like this anymore Night Terrors, But it feels like idealistic people
far away from whatever conflict is goingon, don't have the clearest view of
who they're supporting. Well, andI don't know if that happens today.
I don't think it does. Howabout a one way ticket to the Gulag.
The encampment's back and you see,Oh my god. Nineteen fifty three,
(03:53):
Johnny Cash, while working as anAir Force radio operator in Germany,
intercepting Soviet broadcast operator, was thefirst American to hear about and then report
as he intercepted a Morris code newsbulletin from the Soviet Union to hear about,
and then report the death of JosephStalin, Johnny Jackash, the man
(04:15):
in black. He received the calldelivering death's news. Hey, death just
made its way over the wire andit got Joseph Stalin. It's Johnny Cash
here, I'm walking the line. It's time for quick kits, helloms,
quick hits. I make it quick, y'all. Yeah. Thirteen games in
(04:43):
thirteen days proved too much for theyyers. Thirteen five, forget about thirteen,
five, thirty three and nineteen.Things are falling apart. Only a seven
game lead in the West. Itwas eight now it's seven. Way to
go. Dodgers day off today. You don't deserve it game Roady tomorrow and
Cincinnati versus the Reds four to ten, first pitch on Anti seventy ten Kates
(05:05):
with Dodger talk off night version tonightat seven, and the Seraffs are off
tonight as well. No education forthem. But they're not gonna get dumber
either playing hooky. They're not gonnaget dumb with a win. Those wins
make you stupid and fat. We'releaning mean with all these losses. The
up start Guardians. I love theGuardians. Anytime I can work the mascot
(05:28):
Guardians into a conversation, I liketo make sure I'm the one that gets
to say it. You really lovethe virtue signal, Matt. I do
I feel so good saying Cleveland Guardians. It makes it feel so good.
You didn't want those hard high Indiansto win the champions I not. Major
League Baseball says robot home play dumpsare unlikely for twenty twenty five. Baseball
Commissioner Rob Manfred said Thursday that there'snot been much progress in the minor leagues
(05:53):
this year as MLB had hoped for. What did they hope for? They
hope that the robots would be onit and the robots are just smoking weed
and hanging out eating cheeseburger haspins. You know you get hired, now you're
cashing. Yeah, you just sitthere in the middle of nowhere, like
the guy's cats is talking to fromthe from the Quakes and the and the
Richters, Tulsa, the drillers.Hey, they're nice people. I know
(06:15):
some of these people, and they'rethe most decent kind people. They're going
to provide incredible insight. How dareyou belittle their contribution to the conversation,
man Fred said, If and whenthe automatic ball strike is adopted, it
likely would be a challenge system, which won't be tedious at all. That's
great, just slow it down evenmore. It's a quick challenge. They
(06:39):
do it in the minor leagues. The umpire's got an earpiece, and if
the guy at the plate doesn't likethe call ball or strike, he can
like motion and say a challenge.Well, they're still within seconds, the
robot, well within seconds they're stillhaving technical issues. So it's not gonna
happen in twenty twenty five. It'sin here and playing black ink here.
I get likely, I get thatit's not fun, So he doesn't have
(07:00):
to walk over to a Rocky fourlike robot with some diet pepsi. Oh,
that would be sweet for a faceto determine if it was a baller
STRIKEE Dodd bench austrike in the stands, you got the rosie the robots with
the duster cleaning small wonder. RobManfred f you. Manfred said, the
uniform issue this season has been addressed. Nike took responsibility and set themselves on
(07:23):
fire outside the courthouse and they'll addressthe lettering, non customized pantaloons and sweat
through and the lack of matching thegrays. He Nike, I need you
to take a hit. I needyou to take the hit on this one.
I'm taking a lot of incoming already. Can you take the hit for
their uniforms? Thought, I distinctlyremember Rob Manford saying this was on the
(07:46):
players that they ran these uniforms atthe All Star Game. Asked them what
they thought. Everybody said they weregreat, so they decided to adopt them.
It looks like the players went throughthe proper protocol and complained through their
union and social media. Baseballs hadto wear it their union and social media.
Okay, Matt Into this. Youcan see them scrot. It's day
twenty. There's a lot of that. Maybe some of that that might have
(08:09):
been that might have tipped the scales, the scrote the black Burger squating with
a lead, and you can seethem scrote Day twenty and the Lakers are
still without a head coat. WHOA. I wonder why timing is everything?
When are we going to hire JJ? I don't know, maybe someone will
like break their neck in one ofthese finals games. We could just go
(08:30):
ahead and hire them on that day. Totally gets swept up. They need
they need a real like sea changemoment in the world. And then they
just sli Friday afternoon. You knowwhat, Tomorrow could be the day Memorial
Day weekend coming great point four thirtypm. Tomorrow could be the day we
(08:50):
won't even be on the air becausewe're on a super flex. Lebron and
JJ Reddick drop their podcast today. They don't talk about the coaching. You
have to tell me that I'm subscribedand I clicked on notifications, so I
get old man in the three. We talked about it earlier. But here's
Bronnie. According to Braun, thisis how Bronnie is dealing with negative attention.
(09:11):
I wanted him to kind of figureit out on his own where he
see himself fit in the NBA oryou know, where he see you know,
what his comp looks like, soto see you know him mentioned guys
like Derek White, Drew Holliday, you know a few other guys Marcus Smart
and ear League Davion Mitchell. Theseare guys who like come in and and
for a team that's trying to winchampionships, a team that wants to win
(09:35):
every night. These are the playersthat you have to have on your team
because they just it doesn't always showup in the box scores, but it
always shows up in the winning plays. And you know, for Briannie to
have that perspective on where he standstoday, you know, that's great.
And I think that's great for anyteam to be able to have a nineteen
year old kid like you said, you know, I know that wasn't my
(09:56):
That wasn't my goal. My goalis like listen, I'm trying to make
it to the to the All StarGame of year one. I want to
be you know, All Star,I want to be MVP, I want
to be this, you know, all of these things and a lot of
us have those aspirations, but youknow, for Bronnie to just to have
that mindset of like, listen,at this point in time in my life
and in my game, I knowwhere I stand, but I know how
I affect the game with all duerespect. In Last Hours interview with Ryan
(10:22):
Hollins, I do not share theperspective of gratitude when lebron reaches out every
three days. But bron was thenumber one overall pick, right he was
the most celebrated entry to the NBADraft in two decades. You should be
thinking about winning championships and being anAll Star in your first season. Bronnie
(10:45):
likening himself to a defensive player ofthe Year in Marcus Smart, who was
routinely cited as the best perimeter defenderin the NBA for a half decade,
and Drew Holliday, who is currentlyconsidered arguably the best perimeter defender in the
(11:05):
NBA. Well, Matt, look, this guy's a dad, and I'm
proud and I'm excited to see him. Yeah, as we played a little
bit earlier, I'm guessing all thescouts at the Clutch Sports Pro Day weren't
all that excited about every time Bronnimade a three, there being a chorus
of yeahow. The NBA has closedits investigation and allegations that Oka Sees Josh
(11:28):
Giddy had an inappropriate relationship with aminor, reaching a similar conclusion to that
of the Newport Beach Police Department, who said they were unable to corroborate any
criminal activity earlier this year. Socialmedia's bitch. I tell you, hey,
you get on that social media, you think you meet someone, you
know who they are, and thenyou meet him, and then you do
the social media. Just because BillClinton's standing next to that young chick doesn't
(11:54):
mean that he stood next to thatyoung chick in that island. For the
second year in a oh, theBig Ten generated more revenue than its Power
Conference counterparts blasphemy, papadakas, that'snot possible. They brought it eight hundred
and eighty million and distributed over sixtymillion to the twelve longest tenured members,
while Maryland and Rutgers each got fiftyeight. You get fifty eight. We're
(12:18):
gonna shoot, we're gonna short youtwo million in comparison each school in the
SEC. Yeah, give it,spit it out. How much more do
we make down here, papadagas lastwhat fifty one million this year? Told
you it was more. It's ninemillion less costa living's a lot lower down
here. You're right about the oneyou account for that technically it's more.
(12:39):
You're right. Actually, I thinkyou're right. You know, you go
to the belk dot com you orderanything. Uh, the ACC each school
got forty four. It's not bad. It's like a hell of it.
Like the only one that sucks isthe PAC twelve. The Big twelve got
forty four. And Yogi Roth andhis PAC twelve network in their final year
(13:03):
thirty three million. Oh god,a piss. They got thirty three million
dollars to wreck the conference thirty threemillion. Vandy got twenty more million than
that. Exactly, you losers.I mean when Rutgers is swaying a harder
boots at you by like ten twelveto fifteen million bucks, what do you
mean we only got fifty eight million? You can't take it? Idiots?
(13:26):
What could it pierce? The queenof the college football first game ever?
Shut up? What a New Yorkmedia marketplace? Rutgers takes the check for
fifty eight million, takes one millionout and gives the other fifty seven to
Schiano. Okay, thank you forlistening. We will return. We got
Don McClain and then you're dead.In the Live Guy Birthday of the Day,
(13:48):
Petrosen Money on AMPHI seventy LA Sports, You're Home of the Dodgers Off
Night. Dodger talked tonight with Timkath Well. Yesterday was a big pro
day with all the GMS and allthat for Don McClain and his guys,
all the people he works with sohard in the springtime. Of course,
you know him as a great announcer, basketball analyst. You see him on
(14:13):
Ballet Sports. You know him fromhis dominance of the Canejo Valley and beyond,
the leading scorer in the history ofUCLA Basketball and the Pac twelve.
The next ass he kisses will bethe first on the SoCal Dealer Celebrity Hotline
for your Toyota. It is theone and only Don McClain, the Baron
of Box Canyon at where It's SnakeOn Twitter, Hello Don, how are
(14:37):
you good? Pete? How areyou guys? We're good? How did
that thing go? Can you kindof explain what it is and how it
is? When everybody comes to yourguys thing for your pro day, how
you set up the drills and tryto make these guys look good. We
always think about that the guy,the Chinese guy shooting against Yeah, yeah,
(15:01):
he took that chair at the top. Well, it changed this year
that the players Association in the leagueagreed that they were going to have it.
I believe it's three different locations, one in La one in Chicago,
and I think one in either Floridaor New York. Instead of in the
past, all these player personnel peopleGMS front office people always had to go
(15:22):
to where each agent did their workout, so they'd be driving all over southern
California and then having the fly toVegas, and so they made it so
it's kind of a one stop chop. So yesterday, instead of having it
at our facility, which we've hadthe last however many years, we did
it at the Lakers practice facility, and so all thirty teams are there.
(15:43):
Depending upon which team, it's three, four or five people from their front
office and basically we put them through. You have an hour for each group.
We have six guys in the draftthis year, so we split it
up four in the first group, two in the second group, and you
basically you can do whatever you want, but we have what we have.
I'm not going to tell you guysexactly what we do, but we do,
(16:03):
you know, basically, thirty fiveforty minutes of drills and shooting and
things that they've been doing with meand us for the last six weeks.
We put them through that, andyou know, it's over with. And
you know, it's interesting talking toa lot of people yesterday that what's weird
does everyone agrees that with all thetechnology and all the scouting and synergy and
(16:26):
all this stuff that you can watchand evaluate players, why a thirty to
forty minute workout is important? Becausereally, if you think about it,
it's not. But every agency doesit, so we do it. And
that's just kind of how it isright now. I did when I was
in Chicago for the combine, therewas a little bit of chatter about maybe
(16:48):
just eliminating the pro days altogether, because I think teams are what I just
said, They're like, why arewe coming all the way out here when
we've watched this kid for three orfour years, every minute of every game
he's played. We're going to bringhim in to our facility for a workout.
Why are we coming all the wayout to southern California to watch this
kid shoot for forty minutes. Sowe'll see what happens moving forward. But
(17:10):
that's what we did yesterday, andI thought our guys did great. And
so it's one of those things ifif you're going to do it, you
have to do it, we mightas well do it well, and we
did. I remember, as we'retalking about pro Day's past or our team
visits passed done, you would alwaystalk about challenging your guys, wanting them
to, you know, putting themin the most challenging situations as possible as
(17:32):
opposed to trying to take the easyroad like shooting against a folding share in
order to get them drafted a highas possible. Is that still the case?
Is it still? You know wheresome teams will tell you what they
want you to do, and agencieswill say, now, we're not doing
two on twos with that guy,They're only coming in for a visit.
Or is everybody pretty much in thecompetitive mold now? Well, it depends
(17:53):
on a lot, depends on whoyou are and what where you're you know,
evaluated at in what range. Youknow, like we have Read Shepherd
this year, he's at worst casea top ten pick, and usually not
just him, but throughout time, top ten picks don't do any live stuff.
That being said, Reid's been doinglive stuff with us the whole time
he's been here, just because partof what I do is, yes,
(18:15):
I'm trying to get them drafted ashigh as they can, but I'm also
getting them ready for Summer League, which starts a week after the draft,
and so that's part of you know, the thought in not only all our
players, but its specifically Read Shepherd. But yeah, in terms of how
I look at this pre draft process, most of our guys are going to
(18:37):
go to team work well, theyall are going to go to team workouts.
The NBA mandates that a team canonly bring in six players at a
time, So almost every team bringsin six players at a time. So
what does that turn into a lotof three on three and so we spend
a lot of time doing live stuffone on one, two on two,
three on three so that they're readyfor that. And you know, you
(19:00):
guys are kind of mocking the wholechair thing, but it's the truth,
Like, how are you going togo do well in a three out live
three on three with no officials. If you've been dribbling around a chair for
four weeks or five weeks or sixweeks, so chair can move. Yeah,
that's kind of always been our approach. We've had a lot of success
with it, and that's why wecontinue to do it. The uh you
mentioned Shephard. Don I know thisisn't necessarily all that exciting for people in
(19:23):
LA, but it is. Imean, you think about the powerhouse that
Kentucky has been for all those yearsand Cal is finally moving on. Coach
Cal but sounded like those those guyslike they didn't start, Shepherd and dilling
Ham and all those dudes, andlike I saw a story where it said,
you know, these Kentucky guys kindof got to dig themselves a little
bit out of a hole because ofhow they were were played. Is that
accurate? No? And I thinkit says a lot about Dillingham and Reed
(19:48):
that they that they were okay withnot starting and still played well, and
you know they're both going to betop ten picks and so it didn't affect
their draft status by coming off thebench. If anything, I think it
helped it that they weren't Prima Donna'sand you know, sulking and pouting because
they weren't starting. They accepted theirrole and they excelled in their role,
and I think that's important. Alsolooking ahead, is Reed Shepherd and Rob
(20:11):
Dillingham going to start day one?Who knows? Maybe they will, but
probably not. And so if you'veshown that you can be effective coming off
the bench, that's just one morething that you can add to your resume.
But you know, in terms ofKentucky and how they've operated, obviously
you know it didn't go well forthem last year, and as you mentioned,
(20:33):
Cal's moving on, but Cal recruitedat such a high level. You
still got guys that are going tobe top ten picks. And Reach Shepherd's
an interesting guy because he walks inthe door. He six too, He's
a white guy, and you're like, wait a second, this kid's a
top ten pick. And then youwatch them to start drill, and then
you watch them shoot, and thenwhen you really see his value as in
like five on five, I've neverseen a player. I've never had a
(20:55):
player in nineteen years of doing thisthat defensively has as good a hand as
he has, poking balls away, getting in passing lanes, blocking shots,
and his analytics and you know, you guys know me. I'm not a
big analytics guy, but my earsperked up when I heard this. His
across the board analytics deep analytics arethe best. I think it's either eight
(21:18):
or ten. Are the best inthe draft in the last eight or ten
years. Think about that. That'sridiculous. His across the board analytics are
the best of any single player inthe last eight or ten drafts. That's
shocking. The great Don McClain asour guest, dropping shocking news on the
people of the city of the cuDodd, Donna, are you surprised that
(21:42):
it's Dallas and not the Nugats andit's Minnesota. Kind of a tough deal
for us on Nuggets types. Ikind of had a feeling, and obviously
because I you know, I followthe Clippers and have covered the Clippers for
a long time. To really celebratethe MAVs that hard because they knocked the
Clippers out of the playoffs. ButI was kind of thinking during that series,
(22:04):
now Kauwi didn't play, we know, and so we never know what
would have happened. Had he played, But I was thinking that entire series,
and I think Dallas is better thanpeople think, and it's kind of
proven out. And this Kyrie Irvingman, he's playing at a high,
high level. But I think thatthe additions they made of Gafford Washington were
(22:25):
the two pieces they needed to bemuch better. And I don't think people
wanted to believe it, but Ithink they're believing it now that the MAVs
have a chance to not only getto the conference finals, but to win
the whole thing. The other sidewasn't was Tyrese Haliburton one of your guys
done? That was the COVID year. That's right, that was the COVID
year. What about the Pacers,I mean, that's certainly more surprising than
(22:48):
anybody else, I think, right. I mean, you look at their
record and they're in the conference finals. But my god, he's a hell
of a player. And I wouldassume most people think Rick Carlisle's a hell
of the coach. And it paysoff to have a really good championship caliber
coach when you've got a group likethat. I'll tell VIC, I think
when you have one of the bestplayers in the league, that has the
leadership qualities, the intangibles, everythingthat Halliburton has. No one has ever
(23:14):
said, you know, you guysknow how much I've talked about Donovan Mitchell
and how he's a better person thanplayer and all that. Halliburton's in that
category, Like everybody loves him,and I think when your best player is
that guy, I think it justtakes over the team and everybody wants to
win. And he's obviously unselfish ledthe league and assists and it's one of
those things where when you construct aroster, you don't know exactly but to
(23:37):
kind of have a feeling. AndI think they constructed that roster around Halliburton
and they did a great job becauseit's finally starting. They're obviously finally starting
to put it together, and Ifeel like it's one of those teams that
like they're going to be around herefor the next four or five six years.
The one and only Don McClain isour guest bringing it hard. I
(24:00):
saw that Trent McLain was offered byColorado State. Don you know, I
got the new Belgian brewery out thereand the fat tire, Yeah, I
do. I haven't been to FortCollins in quite some time, don but
it seems like things are going greatfor your for your youngest. Yeah,
he's finally healthy. He broke hishand in the spring. I don't know
(24:21):
if I told you guys that, but he got back. He got back
like a week before they went toWichita last weekend and it was the first
live period and so he had beenworking though. You know, when you
have a hand, you could stilldo stuff with your legs, and so
he was doing stuff, but alittle rusty. But I think people have
seen the improvement from last year tothis year in terms of how well how
(24:42):
it's more how w's he's moving betterand you know, doing more things on
the court. He's always been ableto shoot, but so I think they're
starting to see his improvement and thathe's still not really there yet. He's
he's not a hold back like alot of these kids, and so he's
of age and maturity wise, he'snot really there yet. So I think
(25:03):
I think some of these coaches areseeing what could be here the next year
or two. And yeah, he'sstarting to get some interest, which is
good. How is how is thatprocess? We always hear the you know,
the the negative side of it withthe you know, just the transfer
portal and all of that. How'sit been. It's been good. I
mean, I think I've left itup to Trent, you know. I
(25:25):
think it's important that I'm not influentialin that I will help him when it
comes down to it and you know, examining what the situations are and what
might might be best for him.But it's kind of early in the recruiting
process, and so a few coacheshave called me, but for the most
part, they've just been reaching outto him, and I've told him,
you need to be you need tobe mature enough to handle it now and
start relationships with some of these coaches, and the farther goes along, I'm
(25:49):
sure it will narrow down and we'llstart to really think about it and talk
about it and try and make thebest decision we can. You got to
get on that where it's snake Twitterright and start saying, friend's better than
all these guys in the NBA rightnow, all these clowns. We'll stop
short of that. Yeah, speakingto that, Don and this could set
me up to maybe alter the threethings. Thursday coming up in less than
(26:14):
an hour. You ever have aPro Day, where like family or friends
are in the stands while you're goingwhile the players going through the workout,
and when they make shots they cheeryou. Not at Pro Day, but
we have parents and I think Itold you guys we now we call them
(26:34):
ANIL players, but we have.We have six ANIL guys in here this
week, and obviously a lot oftheir parents come with them. And what's
interesting is, you know, they'veheard about what I do and what we
do here and in the value ofit and the competition and the environment I
create and how it starts the processof them and learning how to play faster
(26:56):
and play with more physical all thatstuff that we do. And the parents
still on the sideline, sitting therewatching, will be coaching, trying to
coach their kid while they're going throughour thing. Perfect. It's like,
well, if you if you're goingto coach them, why are you even
here? And so it's part ofIt's just part of it. It doesn't
bother me. But I just findit interesting that you paid to come out
(27:18):
here, You're paying all this moneyto be here, but yet you're still
trying to coach your kid from thesideline. I think that's funny. It's
one voice, one voice for thegirl, one voice. How many times
are going to pass the ball beforewe shoot it? Four? Thank you,
Don, and great stuff is alwaysin Congrats on the Rams and cam
(27:38):
the ram. That's wonderful stuff asit keeps out Don McClain better the second
time around. And of course you'redead and a live guy. Birthday of
the day. Next from your We'regonna buy a mall show of record,
damn right. And the Dodgers willbe on the road tomorrow and that means
(28:02):
a Flex alert for the Petros andMoney Show. Superflex one to three.
Been up at the studio all weeklong, had a meeting and inspiring meeting
on Tuesday. It's been a bangup week for the Petros and Money Show.
And it concludes with a reminder, and we do get Monday off,
(28:22):
Get Monday off, I have asafe Memorial Day. Concludes with a reminder
that just when you think you've hita little bit of consistency and everybody knows
at three o'clock, bang pop oneight five to seventy and there's Petros in
money. The Dodgers are going ona remarkably long road trip that is unprecedented
in their history. Indeed, theyare must be some kind of payback on
the back side of this very verysignificant road trip. There is but Friday.
(28:47):
We will be on Tomorrow. Friday, we will be on one to
three Today your dead guy birthday ofthe day. Uh interesting, I didn't
know this stuff about Artie Shaw,a complex figure of the twenty century.
Matt a band leader and writer ArtieShaw one hundred and fourteen. He would
have been today one of jazz's greatclarinet players of all time in New York
(29:14):
City. It's no Ferris Bueller.I do think he is. I think
he's better. I'm gonna tell youwhat he did, and then you could
make your own judgment at the end. I jumped. I jump, you
really did. I did Jewish family. I'm already in art Arshowski was his
real name. Like Barry Sanders,he withdrew from music for years at his
(29:36):
peak. And you know, inmusic you can always come back and play
the clarinet, can't come back andrun the rock. So Arty came back.
Barry did not you see him atthe Heisman House? Certainly he grew
up in New Haven, took upthe sacks at thirteen at sixteen, changed
to the clarinet, was so goodat it, left home on tour,
came back to New York and wasa coveted session musician. In nineteen thirty
(30:03):
five he started to lead the bigbands, and he swung like that Polish
speed walker. Man did he swingin the swing era? His big rival,
you guessed it, Benny Goodman, and they went toe to toe in
the world of swing and the bigbookings. The list of musicians and his
band Crazy Lena Horn, Roy Eldridge, Buddy Rich, meltor May what do
(30:26):
you Want? Played all kinds ofstuff on the radio. This was the
coolest thing I heard about him.His World War II service is wild.
Right after Pearl Harbor, he freakedout Greatest Generation, joined the Navy,
immediately formed a naval band, andperformed all over the Pacific theater as many
(30:47):
as four concerts a day in battlezones, including Guadalcanal. He was in
the s. Oh yeah, hewas really in the s playing is clarinet.
That's why he killed so many people. He made his gun like he
played the garrett. He blew meaway with notes. That freaking Japanese soldier
(31:10):
didn't know one hit him because therewasn't a stake with a D. It's
all over the place. He cameback exhausted and a long period of introspection
started. He wrote a Jim Bowdenlike book about the downside of music.
That was a very popular book, and then he wrote novels about how hard
it is to be married in themodern world, a famous novel called I
(31:32):
Love You, I Hate You dropdead. Self admitted difficult person. He
was married eight times. Maybe marriagewasn't for him. His Helen's Coming,
Helen's Coming out to sound with thevoiceover interlude, Now Matt. If you
(31:55):
were impressed with his music and impressedwith his war record, I am the
swath he cut with the ladies ofthat time could not be rivaled. I've
never heard of anything like this, the John Mayer. I mean, it's
amazing. Married eight times, twowere annulled, including one of the marriages
to Lana Turner okay and Ava Gardnerthat's a and a. He also dated
(32:21):
Lena Horn and Betty Grayby Top ofthe Pops. Artie Shaw was also a
fabulous championship level marksman, wow andfly fisherman. He died in Newbury Park,
really right next door to Wayne,uh so I him played football.
He died in O four and sowell he could have used in nineteen ninety
(32:44):
four, excuse me in two thousandand four at ninety four. So yes,
he was right in Wayne's zone,no doubt. One of his exes
sued the estate. Got half okay, but much well, got eight of
them. I want his fly fishingreels. You're a live guy. I
(33:06):
am rolling the dice. Well, wait a minute, wait, I will
concede. Thank you. I jumpedthe gun better than Ferris Bueler. Thank
you better than a kid that ditchschool and had a hot girlfriend with a
leather jacket. You see how sweethe snapped those fingers. Yeah, I
mean that was some playing. WhenFerris Bueler was jumping over that hedge,
Artie Showers shoot him down right inthe chest. I'm rolling the dice today,
(33:29):
all right, all right? RollingBarbara Berry is ninety three. Oh
she's I thought she was dead.I was like, you know what,
Matt loves this movie. I shoulddo that. Nominated for a roll in
