of being out here working out here? Yeah, kind of being a Californian.
Is it like you thought it wouldbe? Yeah, you know,
to be completely honest, is notwhat I thought it was going to be.
You know where we are right now. I was more worried about the
transition from the Midwest out here,you know, to California. But really
hasn't been bad at all. I'vereally enjoyed my couple of weeks I've been
here so far, and kind ofthere's might These last couple of weekends was

my chance to venture out on myown. We're out of practice. I
had some time, so I gotto kind of see some of the places
I wanted to go look at,and I went to Newport and then I
went up to where we're gonna beup and also Gundo and looked U room
there. So looking forward to youknow, the new, new new facility
and being up there and kind offinding a spot here hopefully soon and kind
of laying my ground for a littlebit, get ice on that refinery.

You know, you gotta you gottamaintain. So what have you found so
far? Have you found anything that'sreally kind of like, hey, I'm
gonna eat here every day? Somethingbetter. I'm gonna be honest with you,
I would love to do that,but I have a girlfriend who also
likes to enjoy these kind of places. So I figured I'm not going to
do it by myself. I'm gonnawait for her to get out here and
kind of let her join me theseexperiences. So I've been kind of sticking
to the facility and maybe a Chickfil A here there. I'm not a

not a huge guy going to eatby myself. I kind of feel like,
kind of weird we're doing that,Like, hey, can I get
a table for one by myself?You get older, you really relatively,
I don't want to be with anything. I want to eat alone, stare
at my food and be left alone. I don't want to talk to anybody.
What I mean, well, well, problem is someone to look over
me. And I'm was absolutely justscarfless. We're down as fast as I
can of like what's wrong with thiskid? So I'm like, I'm just

gonna stay away with by myself.Yeah, exactly exactly when it comes to
the football part. And it's JoeAlt, the offensive tackle, first round
pick of the Los Angeles Chargers.Here at the golf tournament, he powered
through with the short clubs. Goodwhat he's supposed to do as a football
man. He overcame adversus what doyou do football wise right now other than

work out, you know, asfar as installation and that kind of stuff.
When does that happen? Yeah,and are you anxious to get into
pads? Is it like that atthe program? Yeah? Well, right
now you're kind of hit on thehead. We did a lot of lifting
and installation of the playbook, gettingused to that, get on on the
field and running some of those plays. Obviously no pads yet, so there's
not really any contact. But I'malways anxious, you know, put the
pads on. You haven't had themon in a while. But always excited

(14:24):
too, because you know, that'sthe part of football. I love the
physicality of and being hit somebody everysingle play is what I enjoyed the most.
So I'm looking forward to getting thosepads on and just trying to get
better every day. And you know, I got great guys in the offensive
line room, and then great guyson defense, We're gonna get you better
during this training camp process, andreally looking forward to just kind of taking
it one day at a time andgetting getting used to this next level.
You mentioned the guys. I don'tknow if you've noticed there's been a little

(14:46):
bit of chatter in June about offensiveline chemistry and continuity and how important that
is. Like, what are youguys doing to try to create that while
you're just kind of at OTAs.Yeah, I mean, obviously it starts
in the facility and being on thefield than the basics of football communication with
each other, you know, beforeand during plays and stuff like that,
and understand the playbook and making sureyou have your calls. You need your

calls, and you know, thelittle dummy calls you can make. Some
the defens doesn't know exactly what you'redoing. But outside of it is just
kind of hanging out and get toknow people on more of a personal level.
I think that's really important. Youkind of get to know where they
came from, what their values andmorals are, and then you kind of
get to learn about them and itjust kind of grows you closer to them
and kind of really makes you arespect for that person. So that's kind
of what we've been doing. Well, we've talked to him now, he's

been here two weeks and he doesn'thave like a leopard skin thing, big
stunner shades or anything like that.Like so far, you know, Los
Angeles is now. Yeah, you'redoing okay. You seem like you're focused,
like you're you're you're you're in You'rein a good place right now.
Yeah. No, I feel likeI'm in a good place. I don't
think you're ever gonna see me withthe watch or anything like that. It's

just not who I am, andno, I know, but that's what
my phone's for. It does thesame thing. So I keep a very
simplistic lifestyle, you know. Idon't need anything to kind of confuse what
I'm doing spartan leagues exactly. That'swhy I try to have you know,
I have the car to get toand from, I got a place to
sleep, I got food, andit's really all I still enjoys, you
know. I mean, do youwhat do you have any you know,
some guys, especially when it comesto great athlete like yourself, guys have

some outside interest Like I remember theyalways used to talk about Aaron Donald.
Oh he does crap magad or somethinglike that. Or some guys are into
wrestling. Some guys did track andfield when they were young. You know,
do you have an outside interest thatyou are that you're still into.
Yes, you like to wrestle,No, I don't. I don't like
to wrestle. My My big thingis fishing. That's always That's always been
my thing. Where I kind offishing up here, Yes, exact fish

I got. I got my myplan to go out here in a couple
of weeks. So my thing isalways that's always been where I kind of
mellow myself out ground myself and kindof go back and really be grateful where
I'm at. So I grew upin Minnesota fishing in fresh water. I've
spent a lot of time fishing insalt water, but never in the Pacific.
So I got a little trip,you know, getting doing open water.
You're going out, I'm gonna channelyet do it. I'm gonna try

it like here in California for you? You enjoying yourself? Is it like
what you thought it would be comingout your rookie year. Yeah, it's

been good, you know, beenhere for I guess going on like months
now. A little different than Georgiagrowing up there, but you know,
everyone's welcomed me. What's different aboutit? It just I feel like everything,
like you know, just like Idon't know people environment like good bad.

No, I love it. Everyone'slike you're gonna enjoy it. You're

new thing for you and you've coursesort of been set up in that,

not too much really, you know, spring break will go to like Fenmos
City there. You know, I'msaying, like I've been on like some
cruises and stuff, but yeah,not too much, you know, not
was it always gonna be Georgia aslong as is that kind of what you
were chasing? Now? I wasa Tennessee fan, really, so I
want to go to Tennessee. Uh, didn't get that opportunity. So on

it worked out just out who wasthere, worked out a lot better who
was there, and it didn't giveyou that opportunity. Was due head coach.
We don't have a good concept oftime. Coach Prew is all right,
Coach Prew. Yeah, it's alittle bit for it was only ten
years after Julie was gone. Howdoes one become an exceptional route runner?

(20:15):
That's kind of what everyone talked aboutwhen you were coming into the draft.
This is the best route runner inthe draft. As soon as he hits
the NFL, he might be oneof the best route runners in the NFL.
How do you do that? Isay, just reps? Really,
That's that's what it comes down to, is like just going reps and reps
and reps, and I feel likeI'm a guy. It's like I get
better as I get going, solike throughout the season and stuff, I
feel like I get more adapted,more confident, and more comfortable. So

(20:37):
I think reps is a huge thingin modern day football. You're able to
play receiver kind of all year longin a certain kind of way against other
guys. All you need is aquarterback and a few dbs with their mouths
running. How much good of that? How much do you do that right
now? And how much of theoffense is installed or in your mind to

(20:59):
go out and like work on theright things if you know what I'm saying.
Yeah, I would say, youknow, we're kind of doing O
T H right now, so there'sno different rules and regulations and I'm learning
all those because college I feel like, let's put the paths on then go.
But yeah, you know, I'mtrying to learn the offense and get
more comfortable with it because like rightnow, you're trying to trying to figure
out the play what you got torun, so it's kind of harder to
see the big picture. But onceyou get you know, dialed in on

(21:22):
that, you can get out ofthere like, okay, I see what
see what leverages in and see whatthe defense doing on the back end.
So you know, it just comeswith you know, more more reps and
in practicing. For a guy yourage, you've been on the biggest stage
in football and had the greatest successat that level and been through a lot,
how different do you expect things tobe as far as space you know,

(21:44):
Yeah, with what you do atthis level, how much more precise
do you think you're gonna have tobe? Yeah? So I feel like,
you know, I've played SECM alittle bias, but I feel like
the best best conference there is,so thinking about playing nine conference games.
But but I got told the otherday it's like if you're playing like you're

(22:06):
playing the best player on the bestteams, like, and that's all across
the board. There's not just oneof them out there, there's eleven now,
so you know, margin ra shrinks. I mean, games are decided
about like one score or less likeevery single week, so you know,
shrinks down. You got to beefficient and stuff like that. I know
you'll say wherever they want to putme, but it's you know, everybody's
asking because it's a real versatile groupof receivers you have. Josh can play

(22:29):
anywhere, Quenton can play anywhere.Is there a place that you just when
you were at Georgia, was therea place that you liked to line up
in particular which everyone the route wasthe ball was coming to which No?
But really, I know, likeyou just said, I'm gonna say wherever,
But I feel comfortable outside inside Uh, it really does not matter to
me. So yeah, whichever routeis number one? No, I know,
yeah, which there you go,and you're gonna have to ask for

that ball from Justin Herbert. Iknow it's just OTA's and stuff, but
does it feel different? Is theway he throws that the passes you're catching,
where you're at in the right,where the ball is placed. What's
it been like working with him?Oh? Yeah, you can. You
can tell. There's there's a reasonthey pay him all that money. So
uh no, he can make anyin every throw, so, you know,
just building that chemistry with him,it's been great so far. Chatsworth,

you talk back to them dudes?To you know, the DB's. Do

games, But like I feel likeit's more like if I catch them maybe
like give a little a look orsomething. I don't really do too much
talking. But if they you know, if they want to do it,
then it's all fun and games.You gotta have a little fun with it.

A little bit. You mentioned thehigh school. It now just kind
of came back to me. NorthMurray nears the state championship. So kind
of walk us through what you're doingon that team, because we were kind
of trying to make sense of thestats. It's like he threw for this
much, he ran for this much, he caught this many touchdowns, rush
for these touchdowns, interceptions, readthe punter or and the like. It
seemed like you did everything on yourhigh school football team that senior year.

What did you like, what wereyour responsibilities? Walk us through it.
I think that's a you're you're prettyyear out on that. So, I
mean I was quarterback, Okay,played DBU pun returning, kick returner,
punter holder odd enough, kicked around. No was that coach, but no,
