gained a yard on first down andwe're behind the sticks right now. I

On second down to nine, we'regonna run Fox two play action.

We've adjusted our giveaways a little bit. Give you a pair. We have
(02:31):
lots of stuff, Yes, donot be Is that the uh? All

Yeah, I don't live in Chatsworth, Petro. I heard somebody's assess
one of those fake porn asses blewup and all that, all those chemicals
just flowing out in the street.Good news. We may not have Dodger
(02:52):

and rub Corey. Seeger's hamstring.Look at that. Kate's with a bust
of break style. Let's get awinner right now. No, it's not
bust to break style. It's notbusting breaking all. I'm just gonna crack
this mic. I'm gonna I'm gonnabust a break eight six six nineteen seven
(03:15):
two five seventy Dodger that gets everyhour from your home with the Dodgers.
Do it better be listening during thespot break, don Did you see how
I'm driving listenership. It's time forthe final It was my idea. In
fact, it's the Yeah We're threefun fact the Edemens Oemens. It was,
(03:38):
in fact themen Brothers William, Robert, Charles, Billy, Bobby,
and Chuck, along with their motherMartha, who invented the she threw box
for baked goods in nineteen fifty nine. It was their big idea that people
(03:58):
would be more inclined to buy whatthey could see. Just let not like
a long box could be a poolqueue in there, you know what it
is. It could be a severedpoots instead you find that. I don't
think it could be. I meanthat would be a real I mean that
would be an eight chocolate covered doughnut, be an extreme packaging air. I
(04:20):
mean that would be one of themaybe the most. We do not have
checks and balances back then. Imean, it's not like Game of Thrones.
You know, it was the dawnof the industrial age. Many accidents
happen, that's true, but Idon't I still think it's a stretch.
All right, it is time forthe quick head. Let's quick hitch.
I'll make a quick yall yeah, the Lakers are still looking for head coach.
(04:47):
Wow, you idiots, you blewit. You blew it, just
like Vic didn't get a wake upcall from the Little America in Utah.
You blew it. It was allthere for the taking. Instead, they
lowballed Dan Hurley with a sixty orseventy million dollars deal. Hurley took the
(05:09):
flight. Reportedly he brought his wife. They went to Petros and Tavern Tony's.
Oh I heard it. I heardit was the chowder barge of the
chowder bar, the chowder barge,And they said, hmmm, no,
he will stay at Yukon. Theyhave gone sixty eight and eleven, they
have won two national titles. Whowill try to do something that has not
(05:30):
been done since John Wooden in thelate seventies at UCLA and go back to
back to back as the head coachof the Yukon Huskies. A lot of
people thought that they were going tobe checking out of the Victory Motel and
Guardina and that they were no longergoing to feel the poist post coital stench
in their nostrils. Are being nailedby the king. Oh that's stenches there.
(05:51):
And let me tell you something.Maybe this guy didn't want to get
nailed by the king, especially atthat price, especially after the chowder aren't
screwed up his drink corner. AndI have that on good authority. Well,
it's been very hard to find, you know, MVPs in the service
industry post COVID, no doubt, very hard. And boy they could have
really used one there. Chalk thatup to what what could have been?
(06:14):
Exactly right? The old lost castscause been weren't for that damn pandemic.
Dan Hurley very well could be theLaker coach, all you damn Dan Hurley
lost causers. Well, Matt,we take a little diversion from the Hurley
talk. We've had Lapis on andBooja and the top story on it.
But right now it's time to checkin with David Maasse the Home of the
(06:36):
Dodger with an inside look at theDodgers. This is the Vassie Report with
David vase Well Vasse the real FOPcoming on today, FOP Friend of Paisley,
Brad Paisley Dodger Talk tonight, theprocurer of the glass Now deal.
(06:59):
And Vassa was there, even thoughhe was written out of the scripts spitefully
by those who wrote the story later. And those people weren't there. David
Vassa was in New York City andhe was I believe validated by many baseball
types. He went on the baseballTonight Podcast did all kinds of stuff.
He is our Dodger reporter in SpectrumSportsnet and MLB Network. VASSA with Dodger
(07:24):
Talk tonight on your Southern California ToyotaDealer celebrity hotline, Dave, what's cracking?
How are you bab feeling great?Guys, cannot even tell you how
different it was to be in theBig Apple compared to the Bird I feel
like a new man after enjoying whatwas playoff like atmosphere at baseball at Yankee
(07:45):
Stadium. Well, it's not likeyou haven't been to New York before,
Dave. You know they play theMets, but when they play the Yankees,
it is different. Like Petro say, you got the Baseball Tonight Pod,
you got MLB Net. I knowthat it's you know, Yankees Dodgers,
but at the same time, itis Bill the big town. Does
this feel like the biggest and mostanticipated regular season series that you've been part
(08:05):
of? In filling the blank? How long? Yeah, no doubt,
Matt. The only thing I cancompare it to is when Y'aciel Pleek first
onto the scene in twenty thirteen andthe Dodgers went back to Yankee Stadium for
the first time in a very longtime, and that felt like as big
as these three games. But Imean the Yankees bouncing back this year to
(08:30):
be the best team in the AmericanLeague and the Dodgers being one of the
two best teams in the National League, with Otani, with Mookie Betts playing
Yankee Stadium for the first time ina Dodger uniform, all of that was
colossal and that's why there was somuch attention. And look, this was
the most anticipated and will be themost hyped up three games of this regular
(08:54):
season. There won't be any otherseries the rest of this season that could
match the feeling of these three gamesat Yankee Stadium. Does it say we've
talked about Taoscar Hernandez and what agreat signing that was because he's already had
a huge impact on this team.Therouch, Tioscar the grouch. He wasn't
grouchy. I thought he was yourfriend, Dave. Well, that's what
(09:16):
the New York Post had as aheadline. Yeh, he was grouchy for
the Yankees. Does it say something? You know, we talk about the
postseason, and you know when theschinter gets a little bit tighter and every
pitch matters a little bit more.Does this say something about Oscar Hernandez that
he went into Yankee Stadium and wasthe best player on the Dodgers no doubt,
(09:37):
Matt and it also said something abouthis words after each of these games
that she really embraced being on thebig stage wearing a Dodgery uniform at Yankee
Stadium. He was even saying thatwhile he was miked up during the Sunday
or the Saturday broadcast for Fox.Uh, he really embraced this stage,
(09:58):
and he he delivered. He homeredin all three games and really was the
reason why the Dodgers took two outof three from the Yankees. David Vass
back from New York, Dodgers taketwo out of three, all three nationally
televised games, Apple TV, Foxand then ESPN vss A was a big
part of all of it. Dave, what happened out there with Yankee Luminaries?
(10:22):
Did you run into Scott Brocius orJeter or a Rod? Yeah?
Well, I got muscled by Jeter'sbodyguards on Saturday before the game. All
I wanted to do was ask Jeterwhat he thought about Mookie Bets at shortstop,
and he blew me off as hewalked down the Yankee dugout steps,
and then he had one of histwo Fox Sports bodyguards get in between me
(10:46):
and him so I couldn't follow himdown the steps, which I was not
going to do. On the flipside, my guy Alex still has a
lot of vassay loyalty. Stopped hisconversation and went out of his way to
come say hello. So I'm allin with a Rod Jeter. You could
have him, You could have him? Is uh have you ever talked to
(11:07):
Jeter? He doesn't talk to anybody. I guess why would he be in
the sports media if he doesn't wantto talk to anybody. Exactly. I'm
just trying to promote what's going onwith his broadcast, maybe the Fox Sports
pregame, you know, your guyBardia. He completely deflected me and sent
me to Fox Sports pr which neverreturned an email. So I had to
(11:28):
take things in my own hands.Yeah, and it did not go great.
Jeet's Jeet's Dave, you realized theway the way you said Jeter.
I mean you, I know youwere, you were out there for a
couple of days, but you saidgeta You can have him. You got
a little New York delivery there.Yeah, you could have geta He don't
mean anything in LA. They couldhave him in the big town around Miami.
(11:54):
He did so bad in Miami theyhired Gabe Kapler Johnny Cash. Yeah,
what a weird career arc right, this guy from being one of the
greatest Yankees of all time to beingthe president of a major league baseball team.
Now he's sitting on a set ona Saturday a Yankee Stadium with Big
Poppy and Alex Rodriguez. Can anybodyexplain that? Hey, at least you
(12:15):
got to critique Big Poppy's choice ofclothing during the Triple Crown. At least
Jeter had to weigh in on that. Yeah, that's not all bad.
He has to watch Burkhart put hismakeup on. Hey, Burkhart's a great
guy. He was really humble andclassy. He came over and say hi
to me while I had the iglive roll in on Saturday. I love
Burt Cart. Burkhart is great,A Rod is great, Big Poppy indifferent?
(12:39):
Jeter. You can have them.Where could he go? You can
have him. You can take thoseguys. You could have him in his
three Fox Sports bodyguards. How manydo you have petros when you roll into
a college town? Negative four.I'm the bodyguard. I have to protect
the little play by playguard generally?Who are these people in North Texas?
(13:01):
All right, Dave, have agreat night and thank you and enjoy Paisley.
What are you guys gonna get into? Yeah, he was actually at
the Saturday games, so I wentdown to see him, and I ran
into uh Bill O'Reilly on the wayback up and fred Freddie Freeman Senior.
So Haisley was three rooks behind theDodger dugout on Saturday, So we're gonna
get his fan perspective. And thenhe went to chop it up with Dave
(13:24):
Roberts in his office after the game. Spin stops here, I mean sheese,
Dave, Freddy Freeman s teeth leathercountry. We love you, Dave,
have a great night. I loveyou guys too. There he goes
David Masse. He'll be back ontomorrow as the Dodgers take on the Rangers.
(13:46):
Corey Seger is hurt hamstring. Yeah, questionable. When did this happen?
When did it not? What Coryis out? When did it not
happen. We'll be back with coachSteve Lapis on the Lakers Disappointment Dumbass,
No Hurley, Petros Money A fiveseventy LA Sports Live Everywhere on the iHeartRadio
(14:09):
app. It is a Modello meetsyou shell out on Monday here on the
Petros and Money Show. Modello itis not to meet you. A lot

Beach Boulevard. An opportunity for youto be our first finalist and walk away
(14:33):
at the end of our summer toursometime in August with eleven thousand dollars.
All the details are at A fiveseventy LA sports dot com. Well,
this is a show of Native Angelinos. Matt has lived out here for thirty
plus years and either way he's aMidwestern or by birth. We don't have
that East Coast flavor. We don'tknow what's we don't understand. We don't
(14:56):
understand the draw of the East, the season of the sticks in Vermont.
We don't get it. That's whywe have to turn to a real East
Coast man, Greek American and theGreek food out here just not up to
snuff. Used to be CBS Sportscollege basketball analyst seventeen years as a head
(15:16):
coach Manhattan. Is that on theEast Coast Villanova? Does it get more
East Coast than that? That's true? You mass Steve Lapis Levendy and Greek
American superstar analyst and former college basketballcoach here to help us, Here to
explain why the Sirens song of theWest was not enough for Herley on the
(15:41):
Southern California Toyota Dealers celebrity hotline. What's cracking? Coach? Thanks for doing
it today? Hey? How couldI not be on with my Greek brother
and Matt money Smith that we dogames with Its possible. I had to
come home. We need I'm notI'm not in mid season four now,
this is some time for me obviouslyplaying golf summer rules. I'll get back
(16:03):
into it quick, summer quick?Uh did this surprise you? What?
What first? That they went afterHurley and his reaction to the courtship.
I was a little surprised, thoughI probably shouldn't have been surprised, but
I wasn't a little surprised that theLakers went after him, not that he's
not a great coach, but itkind of was on the QT, you
know what I mean. They hadfired Darvin Ham and his name didn't really
(16:26):
show up till, like, youknow, five six four or five six
days ago, So that part wassurprised, but not that they went after
him. And I told my sonin law actually, who was asking me
about it. He said, whatdo you think he's gonna do? I
said, he's not. He's notgonna take it, and obviously that's what
he did. Listen, the Lakersare the Lakers. There's no doubt.
(16:48):
If you have that aspiration to coachin the NBA and the Lakers come after
you, that's a hard decision.But I think that Danny, he hasn't
really been at you cut, eventhat long. He now has gotten himself
to the top of the mountain. You know, you one thing about college
basketball coaches, they are the kingof their castle. And in the NBA,
(17:11):
the king of the castle is LebronJames, Anthony Davis, and maybe
Brownie James. I don't know what'sgonna happen with that, so it just
I would have been shocked. AndI know the money is ridiculous. I
understand that. But you know,he's doing pretty well where he is.
I'm not surprised he's says coach. The last thing you said there, and
(17:32):
that's sort of been the theme ofthis for US is to me, it
looks like they lowballed them. ThatThe rumors when it leaked were this guy's
going to get a hundred million dollars. They're gonna blow whatever anyone in college
basketball could possibly pay him. Theyjust ink TV deals that are gonna double
their national revenue. They have therichest or the second richest TV contract.
(17:55):
I assume the guy got on aplane because he wanted to see the contract
that said like seven or eight yearsand one hundred million bucks, and instead
he gets slotted in behind many Williamsand was probably like, I can get
this at Yukon, Like do youthink that it's possible? Then maybe they
just blew it and low balled them. Uh you listen, I was under
the impression that was gonna be onehundred million dollar number. So even at
(18:19):
that number, I didn't think hewas gonna take it. And obviously if
that number wasn't the number, thenhe definitely wasn't gonna take it. Hey,
listen, he's gonna make seven million, I don't know, eight million
a year Yukon. Plus let's understandthis, I don't care who you are
in the NBA. You go goto Lakers and you don't get at lead,
(18:41):
you don't get to the Eastern Conference, the Western Conference finals within three
years, this is a good change'sgonna get fired. I don't care how
they had the money to pay youto go away. So I don't blame
him. I think he's got agreat quality of life. And let's understand
this. In the next he's probablygot himself. He's only fifty one years
old. He's got himself another tenyears at least at Yukon. At seven
(19:04):
eight a year, that's eighty millions, and I gotta think that he's not
gonna be And listen, you canget fired anywhere. If everything goes south
at Yukon and it doesn't make theANKA turny for the next three years,
he's got a problem. Even withthe two championship zero, so that's not
going to happen. So I justthink it's quality of life and there's enough.
You know, how much money doyou need. You need a quality
(19:26):
of life. And if they lowballed a little bit with him, then
there's no question he wasn't gonna leave. The great Steve Lapis is joining us
right now on the Petros and moneySelle. You know, we've had a
Jay Wright leave recently, Coach kleft recently. Danny Hurley's kind of the
face of a success in college hoopsright now. Is this a big shot
(19:47):
in the arm for coll I mean, obviously it's huge for Yukon, but
what does it mean for college hoopsin general? I know the people at
Fox are excited about, you know, because of the Big East. Yeah,
well, there's no doubt it's agreat thing with college basketball. I
know Danny since he's ten years oldbecause they used to go, you know,
recruit players in Saint Anthony's and hewould be out. He would be
there in the gym all the time, you know, he was He was
(20:10):
the typical Jim Rett as was Bobby. So I've known him for a long
time, you know, He's atremendous coach, and it's great to be
able to keep these younger guys around, especially and you know, this this
day and age of the nil andtransfer portals and all that. Obviously,
you know, Dan has no fear. He never had any fear, and
(20:30):
he certainly doesn't have any fear ofthose things. You know, some of
the older guys are tired of it, like you know, Tom Izzo and
guys like that that have come up, like I came up, and it
would be tough for me to dealwith it. But you know, Danny's
young enough to adapt to this, and you know, he's become the face
of college basketball, you know, kind of you got to throw Bill self
(20:51):
in there too, and so yeah, I think it's a great thing for
college basketball and certainly for the BigEast that he's coming back coach the the
you know, Petros mentioned the nameJay Wright and and our friend Mark Stein
and the Stein Line leaked it outyesterday before Dan Hurley even turned it down,
said don't be surprised that this wasHe said, this was the name
(21:12):
I heard. If this could betheir next target, does that make sense
to you? How good of ahire would would Jay Wright be how would
he assimilate to the program, andhow do you think he would do coaching
up Lebron James. He would bea great hire. But there's no way
I could say you that. Idon't care what they offer him. Jay
(21:34):
is not going to the Lakers.Jay Jay. I mean, I've seen
him many times because we lived inthe same area, we're we're members of
the same golf club, and Ican tell you this, Jay Wright is
not coaching again. I don't carewhat they throw at him. So I
don't know where they go from there. But if they go to Jay Wright,
that's not gonna happen. I mean, that's what we don't have out
(21:55):
here on the West Coast. You'renot at the golf club with Jay Wright.
We don't know what the hell's goingon. We're flailing around of the
dark. Coach Steve Lapis, it'sour guest. We're trying to get to
the bottom of this stuff that happenedwith Dan Hurley and where the Lakers are
going to go from there. Doyou think at this point in his career,
forty years old and all the speculation. I know you're a college analyst,
but do you think at this pointin his career. Having Lebron on
(22:18):
the Lakers is an attraction to ahot young coach or a deterrent to try
to coach this guy. You know, that's a great question. And I'm
not saying that Lebron is not uncoachable, but he's such an iconic figure,
you know what I mean that evenif you know he's good with whoever gets
(22:40):
hirghed, which I'm sure he's gonnabe consulted on those kinds of things about
who gets hired, It's it's kindof like a specter hanging over your head.
Have a guy like Lebron there, you know what I mean that he
just you know, you can't notconsider everything that you say that he's listening
to. Because he said, we'renot talking about a regular basketball player.
We're talking about an iconic basketball player. It's not easy for anybody, I
(23:06):
think, to come in there andcoastal bumm, because I think it's gonna
be hard to have a good comfortlevel when that's a guy in your huddle
that you're talking to. So Idon't think that's gonna be easy for anybody.
It's got to a Lebron. I'mnot saying he's not gonna listen or
it's just his the way his presenceis not makes it not easy Bronnie James.
I don't know if this could havebeen an issue as well, and
(23:30):
talking to Danny Hurley, that wasthe speculation out here. I don't know
if you heard it that way acoach, but that you know Danny would
is so good at developing talent. You get a chance to draft Bronnie at
fifty five and you can take yourtime and Danny's going to develop them.
Two questions, One your thoughts onBronni as a potential NBA talent? And
two would that be a turnoff ifyou're a coach and they already tell you,
(23:52):
hey, you got to figure outa way to make lebron James kid
pretty darn good, Well, youknow, I think it's gotta be a
little bit of a turn and offknowing that you have that you know there.
But I will tell you this.I did the USC game last year
at they were playing Washington at Washington, and he he didn't he didn't do
a lot, but I did seea level of athleticism and I was like,
(24:17):
man, this guy kind of Inever saw him live. I don't
really get to do that much inthe West. And I saw him and
I was like, well, thisguy, he's got a look, he's
got some talent, There's no doubt. So he was. He was certainly
more. I was intrigued by himmore than I thought I would be.
But do I have a good feelfor him in terms of what he does.
(24:37):
Not really, But I did comeaway from that game and he didn't
play much intrigued by his ability. But you know, again to have to
worry about that, you know,it's hard enough to worry. And you
know you talked, you said aboutyou know, Daniel Hill is a great
developer of talent. You know, the NBA is a funny place. You
know, you can develop talent incollege. Even know that's changed now obviously
(24:59):
with the portal and il guys leavingafter a year whatever. Development's not as
big a thing as it used tobe, as much as roster management.
And in the NBA, you know, development you better win along the way
then you have a chance to developguys. If you don't win, you
don't have a chance to develop anybody. So do all the East Coast guys
sit in the front row at TDBank North garden and watch this stuff of
(25:22):
the Celtics series. Have you beenpaying attention to that? Are you excited
about that? I mean, we'rejust down here in the dark. We
got nothing. Last I'm paying bigattention to that. But I grew up
in New York City, right inthe middle of Manhattan, and I've been
Knicks fan my whole life, soit makes it hard for me to root
for the Celtics. So at thispoint, you know, and I'll tell
(25:44):
you this, I watched the NBAPlayoffs this year more than I have in
years because what the Knicks did thisyear I thought was phenomenal and Jalen Bruntel
is unbelievable. But yeah, it'shard for me to root for the Celtics.
I'm not room for anybody right now. The great Sea Black Coach does
a bang up job breaking it down, always kind with his time. Could
be out on the golf course rightnow instead talking to right And then they're
(26:08):
gonna go over to Boston and checkit and all the you know, all
the cool guys they can go havedrinks with Rafferty. We're sure see we
got nothing. We got nothing.Thank you so much, coach. Have
a great night. You got it, guys. All right, we'll be
right back with more great sports talkDann and a Live Guy Berthday of the
Day and then Dodger Talk after that. Massa's got Brad Paisley tonight, Thanks
(26:30):
for listening. Well, it's poppingoff and Buena Park this Friday. Rock
and Bruce in Buena Park. Mattand I will be there. Thank you
to our partners. The summer tourbegins, Rock and Bruce, Eto,
n Oi Ocha, Sweet James,Barry from Barry's Tickets, Chef Medito,
Seasoning, Loan Mark. It's allpopping off and we are looking forward to
(26:53):
seeing you there tomorrow. The Dodgerstarted three game series against Texas tonight.
David Vassay with Dodger Talk has BradPaisley. You know they say glass Now's
trade took place in Brad Paisley's mancave, and David Vassay's name was omitted
(27:14):
spitefully from those stories. And alsowe did not know at the time that
part of the stipulation of that dealwas glass Now was going to get zero
run support into June. Unbelievable. We finally got you some run support,
glass Now. Oh yeah, Iwatch this give up a six spot.
Yeah, here you like it.Here's my boobs to rip all you like
it. Here's thanks for the supportoff. Don't care your dead guy.
(27:38):
Birthday of the Day, Kates.I need Australia News. Take my ball,
take my ball going home right now? That's it. You're gonna want
to give me any run support.I'm not gonna throw a shut up your
jerks. Australian names Crocky, it'sKip and this is Petros and money's Australian
News. Uh. I had toget to the near end of this for
(28:02):
its payoff, so hang out me. Langley Frederick George Hancock would have been
one hundred and fifteen today. Bornin Perth, oldest of four kids.
Grew up on a farming estate.Sheep cattle boarding school, smart kid,
keen interest in mining and prospecting.Well with the notts this week, Matt
right, we are your mining inprospecting show of record. He discovered asbestos.
(28:25):
I need a pickaxe at Wyntenoom Gorgeat the age of ten. He
discovered asbestos. Yes, like that'slike you know, finding gold or copper
and stake the claim oil at tenoh I he grew up fast back,
then went to work for his father. Got married at twenty one, Susette
(28:45):
Malley described as quote an attractive blondewith laughing ayes. Oh wow, my
Nancy went the laughing face. Theylived on the family estate, Mulga Downs
